Did Ginny or Granny fill you in on the case with the boy at the hospital? Ginny told us you had to go to Court this morning, but she didn't say why. Since the boys were in the den with Charley and Dale, Jaiden quickly kissed them and told them he loved them. As he sat on the couch and watched his sons, a tear fell from his eye. Dale asked Jaiden if the boy's case was that bad. Before Jaiden could say anything, a massive flood came from his eyes. "Dale, the young teen came out to his parents, and when he did, his Dad beat the hell out of him. He broke his son's right arm in two places and 6 ribs that had to be pinned. Dr. Brannen repaired his arm after the ribs were pinned. His face is so severely bruised you can't tell it's him while looking at his picture." "While I was making rounds, his mother started a very heated argument with him, and I had to step in and stop it. She and her husband lied to the ER nurses and doctor and told them their son had been jumped by a group of boys. The boy looked up at me and told the real story." "His bitch of a mother became infuriated and was about to explode when I picked up the phone and had the operator page police officers in the hospital. A minute or so later, the officers came into the room, and I told the boy to tell them what he had told me. Thirty minutes later, his Dad had been arrested, and they then took his mother into the hallway, handcuffed her, and took her to jail." "The Child Abuse Detective did a cursory investigation, took some pictures to add to what I had already taken, and the parent's cases were heard this morning in Don's Courtroom. When he asked if I had pictures with me, he already knew I did because I had gone to his chambers before Court and showed them to him. I had also called him at home last night." The Bronowski's pled guilty at their arraignment this morning, and Don sentenced them on three charges and made his sentences consecutive, giving the SOB and his bitch of a wife seventy-five years to serve. If they get paroled, Don made it a part of their sentence to pay full restitution to the insurance company for any funds expended on the boy's behalf. DFCS took custody last night, and this morning the child was placed in Jay's custody, but we can't say anything about that." "I called Wellstone and got the boy a full-ride scholarship like I got for you two. Peyton and I will take him to Wellstone at the beginning of the next semester. His college credits will count toward his high school graduation. Don and Jay went to his room tonight, and when I left, they were still with him. Don has several police officers who will protect the boy around the clock until he is released from the hospital. When they went into the teen's room and saw his condition, Don and Jay lost it. Don said they would make sure he was taken care of from here out. I suspect they will be the ones to take him to Wellstone when the time comes, and I'm guessing Jay will adopt him. At any rate, my aunt has made sure he will have space in our old dorm apartment. I will buy him an I-phone before he goes down there if Don and Jay don't beat me to it." Charley said, "Jaiden, it sounds like you have had a hell of a time for the past two days." " I have, Charley, and it isn't over yet. I have to get that boy well and watch him for the next few months to make sure no infections pop up and he doesn't have any adverse reactions to his medications. He is on some potent drugs." Jaiden turned his attention to his boys as he picked each of them up, hugged and kissed them, and told them he loved them. He played with each baby before their diapers were changed, and they were put to bed. The boys giggled the whole time Jaiden played with them, and they have started reaching for his face when he holds them. And, yes, he trimmed their fingernails since he promised Ginny he would. When the babies were in bed and asleep, Jaiden made a pot of coffee, and he, Dale, and Charley sat on the deck and talked for a couple of hours. Jaiden thanked his brothers for taking care of the boys while he and Peyton had tough rounds at the hospital. Charley told Jaiden the boys would be taken care of, especially since they knew of the mitzvahs he was doing through his work. While Peyton was in Jeremy's room, he called Jaiden to let him know things were going well for the boy, that he was smiling non-stop and fighting hard to get well and settle in at his new home, and that Don and Jay were still in the room. Jaiden told Peyton he hoped Jeremy would be truly blessed by everything being done in the background to help him. Peyton said he did too. Dale said, "Jaiden, Charley, and I would like to help with the boy's recovery if there is anything you think we could do for him." "Dale, I can't tell you who he is, but I can invite Don, Jay, and the boy over for dinner, and Don or Jay can introduce him to you. Then you can talk to him and get a feel for what you and Charley may be able to do for him. That's the only way you can find out who he is." "Jaiden, do that as soon as you can and let me know ahead of time, and I will check with Jay and see what the boy's favorite meal is and prepare it in a way that will knock his socks off." "Dale, Peyton, and I would certainly appreciate you doing that, and I am sure Don, Jay, and the boy would enjoy it as well. That will also give you and Charley a chance to meet and talk with the boy after Jay and Don introduce him to the two of you. I just can't do it due to privacy laws." Dale's Mom and the brothers were sitting on the deck drinking coffee and talking about the boy and what had happened to him; saying she was horrified would be an understatement. She wants to meet the boy and let him know he is loved because he deserves to be loved. At about ten, Peyton walked in the door, and Jaiden was ready for him. After Peyton checked on their boys and kissed each of them, he and Jaiden took a warm bath together, got into bed, and made love to each other. Tonight was a special night for them because they had pulled off another impossible task for a young teen who desperately needed help. Tender caresses, soft kisses, loving snuggling, the lovebirds took care of each other's need to relax and thank Hashem for using them so productively. Jaiden and Peyton got up at six the next morning, changed their son's diapers, and were feeding the children their morning bottles when Jaiden's Mom called. "Good morning, Mom; I hope you are heading into having a great day." "Jaiden, I am going to have a great day after talking to Don and Jay last night. They told me what you did for Jeremy, and I am so proud of you that I can hardly keep my feet on the ground. Did you get him a full-ride scholarship to Wellstone?" "Yes, Mam, I did, and he starts at the beginning of the next semester." "Jaiden, what you and Peyton accomplish for others is unbelievable to me. You are so blessed, or you wouldn't be able to do what you do." "Mom, I went to Court this morning, and Jeremy's parents were sentenced by Don to serve 75 years, and he ordered that if they are paroled at any time, they have to pay restitution to the insurance company for every dime they payout for Jeremy's health care. I am glad Don and Jay told you Jeremy's name because I wouldn't mention it if they hadn't." "If you could see the extent of Jeremy's injuries, you would explode with anger. When I caught his mother screaming him two days ago, it took all I had not to do the same thing to her that she had allowed her husband to do to Jeremy. Peyton has been chomping at the bits to have five minutes alone with the boy's Dad. I really think, like Ginny told Granny, that Peyton would make the man ask Hashem to let him die when Peyton got through with him." "I have never seen the veins in Peyton's neck bulge like they did after he went with me to meet and examine Jeremy during shift change. And as tough as Don is, when he and Jay saw Jeremy, they cried and stayed with him most of the night. Don rescheduled today's court docket." "Son, if I can help in any way with Jeremy, you better let me know." "I will, Mom. Maybe we can get together and do something unbelievable for Jeremy; maybe take him on a surprise visit to Disney World. We could push the boys around in their pram while Jeremy did whatever he wanted to do." "Son, are you OK, your voice is trembling?" "Not really, Mom. Jeremy's case has upset me to no end. It will take me a while to get over caring for him and seeing how bad he still looks because of what his Dad did to him. I hope Jay adopts him sooner than later. Pete is going to file a major lawsuit against his parents, and I am going to call the mortgage holder tomorrow and buy the loan on their house. I will foreclose on the house in 90 days when the payments aren't made and put it in a trust for Jeremy. When he completes college, he will have a home to stay in or sell if he moves away from Erie. Hashem will bless me in the long-run, and I will get my and Peyton's funds back. I am sure that once Jay and Don find out what I have done, they will chip in and pay half, so I am not worried. Jeremy deserves whatever he can get to help him. I can't text you a copy of the pictures of Jeremy's injuries, but Don and Jay can, so I will broach that subject with them." "Once Jeremy gets out of the hospital, we will invite him, Don, and Jay to the house for dinner. Dale said he would call Jay to find out what Jeremy's favorite meal is and then prepare it in a way that will blow Jeremy's socks off." When Jaiden got to the hospital the next morning, Jeremy was the first patient he intended to see. He knocked on Jeremy's door and walked into his room and said, "Good morning, Bud, how are you feeling this morning?" "Mr. Jaiden, I slept so well last night knowing I didn't have to worry about my Mom and Dad beating me up again." "Thank you for helping me and doing what you have done." "Jeremy, we want you to feel you are loved because you deserve it and not because we are expected to do it. My Mom is a doctor in Abingdon, Virginia, and Don and Jay called to talk with her about you yesterday. I can't discuss your case with her without you signing a release of information form allowing me to do that, but Don and Jay can since they now have custody of you. My Mom is a very stubborn lady and an excellent doctor, and she if furious over what happened to you. There is no doubt in my mind that she is going to do something down the road for you that is going to rock your world. When she does things like that, I find out about it after it happens. Speaking of rocking your world, what is your favorite meal?" "Mr. Jaiden, I don't really know. My mother never fixed anything special for me, and she and Dad never took me to a particular restaurant to get something I'd never had. So I really don't know." "OK, you have given me an idea. When you get out of the hospital, Peyton and I and our brothers will invite the three of you to our house for dinner. Peyton and I can't tell our brothers who you are because of privacy laws, but Jay and Don can introduce you to them and tell them your story. Dale is the best cook in the world, and he will fix you a special meal that will blow your socks off." "Let me check your arm and your ribs so I can finish rounds and go to the office to see patients for Dr. Brannen." Jaiden removed the dressings from Jeremy's arm and chest and checked the incisions for infection. Everything looked good, so Jaiden applied new bandages over the staples and told Jeremy Peyton would see him around seven that evening. When Jaiden left the room, Jeremy was smiling from ear to ear. When Jaiden got to the Office, Peyton was already there and told him Dr. Brannen wanted to speak with him. Jaiden knocked on Dr. Brannen's door and was told to have a seat. "Jaiden, Don called to let me know what you did for Jeremy. I am incredibly proud of you and impressed with your work, and I want to let you know you and Peyton have done an amazing job in helping that boy medically and psychologically. You two simply amaze me, and I appreciate your dedication to helping our patients. Your patient reviews continue to be over the top, and I can't wait until you are full-fledged physicians. You are going to be so awesome, I can feel it." "Thanks, Doc. Peyton and I have had some incredible people in our lives who taught us to be principled and dedicated to what we want to accomplish. We have been blessed in that regard." "Jaiden, it shows in you and Peyton. Keep up the great work." Peyton and I work hard at doing that. I need to get busy seeing patients." "Somehow, I knew you would say that. Don't forget to take a lunch break." "Yes, sir." When the office closed for the day, Jaiden joined Peyton making rounds at the hospital so they could get through early and get home to their sons. For once, the two would be home by seven that evening.
