Jason and Shaun

Chapter 28

Call From Salt Lake City

Shaun is out running errands, and that means that Jason is home alone. He's been playing some games on the game console and playing with the cats. It's now noon and the phone rings. Jason picks up the phone.

"Hello, Allen-Williams residence, Jason speaking?"

"Ummm...I'm looking for Shaun, is he home?"

The woman on the other side of the phone asks as not understanding the way that Jason answered the phone. Shaun's mom didn't mention him being married. She said that he had a room-mate.

"No, I'm sorry he's out running errands. Can I take a message?"

She considers leaving a message, but it would be weird leaving a message, asking if Shaun was still interested in dating. They have not dated in years almost two years before him coming out. She has high hopes. Shaun's mom will do anything to bring Shaun back to the church and that means back to dating woman. Course, it also means that Shaun and Jason would need to divorce and that simply isn't happening.

"You know what, just tell him that Emma called. He'll remember me. He doesn't need to call me; I will call him."

Jason isn't sure what is going on here, but this lady seems to have a motive behind this call. At this point, he's considering not giving Shaun the message, but that would be lying to his husband.

"Okay, I will tell him that you called."

She smiles at Jason's promise to tell Shaun about her call.

"Thank you! I can't wait to speak to Shaun. Bye."
Emma hangs up the phone, which leaves Jason feeling a bit upset. How will Shaun react to the message?

***

When Shaun comes home, the guys spend some time relaxing, and then Jason decides it's time to tell his husband about Emma's call.

"Babe, you got a bizarre phone call from Utah."

"What was strange about the call?"

Shaun thinks this call was from the new employer. His husband still isn't sure about telling his partner about Emma.

"It was from a lady named Emma, who said that you would remember her. Why would this woman think that you would remember her?"

"Umm...did she say anything else?"

Jason stops for a minute and thinks about what she said to him.

"She said to tell you that Emma called, that you would remember her, and that you didn't need to call her, that she would call you."

Shaun still has not answered Jason. He's hoping that Jason won't push him for an answer. Shaun doesn't want to hear from her at all. Jason can tell from watching his husband's face that something is up. Pushing him for an answer may just prove disastrous. Shaun wants his partner to know the truth about the person behind the call.

"So Jason, Emma is a girl from back home, that my mother thought that I needed to date. It was sort of forced on me. If I know Emma, she is going to be persistent till she accomplishes her goal, whatever that is, please don't get angry at me."

Jason isn't jealous, but he may not have the best of words for this lady if she keeps acting like Shaun wants to talk to her. Shaun isn't sure what thoughts are running through Jason's mind, but he can imagine that he's not happy. Shaun needs some air, so he excuses himself and goes for a walk. Jason isn't pleased that Shaun isn't talking more, but perhaps there isn't anymore that needs to be said.

***

Shaun is angry, and he doesn't want it to come against Jason, so he leaves the house. Like he told his husband, his mother had her hands in Emma and him dating way back when, and he knows that his mother has her hands in Emma contacting him now. He doesn't want Jason being mad at him over this, and he's afraid that this could lead to strife in their marriage, perhaps that is his mom's plan. Emma is an adult now and should recognize that she is being used as a pawn. It's also possible that Emma is working with his mom to steal him away from Jason. He'll have to cling tight to Jason's heart until this game is over, and Emma quits calling. After spending an hour away from home, Shaun returns home.

***

While Shaun is gone on a walk, bad luck strikes again. The phone rings and Jason checks the caller id and recognizes it from earlier in the day. This time, he's prepared for it.

"Hello Allen-Williams residence, Jason speaking?"

Jason is ready for whatever she says, even if he has to be rude.

"You again, I figured by now that Shaun would be home. So, who are you exactly? Why do you keep answering the phone with Allen-Williams?"

He isn't going to lie to her. Shaun wouldn't want him to keep the truth away. Maybe, it might be enough to shut her up.

"I'm Jason Allen-Williams. I keep answering the phone because I live here. It's Shaun's and my phone number. Does that answer your question?"

Emma doesn't answer the question, and he didn't expect her too. She doesn't even say good-bye to him. Jason thinks that is a little rude and goes back to doing what he was doing before he got interrupted.

***

When his husband enters the house, Jason approaches him, wanting some answers. He's not entirely happy with the fact that Shaun just walked off.

"Shaun, why did you just leave the house?"

`This time, he had better answer.'

Jason wants an answer, and he wants it now. Shaun doesn't disappoint him either.

"I had to leave. Jason, I was so mad that she called and had so many thoughts running through my mind that I needed to clear my thoughts. I was afraid that my anger might lash out at you even though you had nothing to do with the phone call."

Jason gets it, and he's appreciative of the fact that Shaun cares enough for him to not want to lash out at him. Jason walks over and hugs him, and Shaun immediately accepts the hug and wraps his arms around his husband. Now he has to let him know that Emma called again.

"So she called again, this time when I answered, she wanted to know who I was and why I keep answering the phone."

Shaun is now curious.

"What did you say to her?"

Jason doesn't hesitate to speak up.

"I told her that I am Jason Allen-Williams, and then I told her that I live here, and then instead of saying good-bye, she just hangs up the phone."

Shaun is now happy and mad all rolled up inside of him. Satisfied that his partner wasn't afraid to speak up and hopefully set this lady straight. He's a little steamed that, she simply hung up on Jason. She had better hope that he doesn't answer the phone. Now that she knows the truth, he wonders what will happen next.

***

Shaun decides to get to the bottom of this nonsense by calling the one lady who might be behind it. He doesn't want to call his mother, because they generally don't end very well, but this needs to happen.

"Jason, I am going to call my mom. I think she is behind this mess."

His husband is against the idea, but if that is what Shaun wants to do, then so be it. Shaun took out his cell phone and looked up her phone number in his phone. He puts the number in his phone and hits the call icon. She answers the phone pretty quickly.

"Shaun, I'm surprised to hear from you. What do you need?"

If she is behind the calls from Emma, she isn't showing it right now. Shaun knows something is going on with his mother. Shaun doesn't hold back. Jason deserves to know the truth, and so does he.

"I need to know that you are not behind Emma calling the house. I need to know that you're not trying to harm my marriage with Jason."

She found bile gathering in her throat at the mere thought of her son's relationship with that man. Shaun isn't about to let his mother get away with whatever is going right now. He cannot allow his mother to say anything that might be hurtful towards his husband.

"You cannot tell me that that man makes you happy. Emma is just watching out for you."

Shaun heard precisely what, he know that he would hear. His mother and Emma are working hand in hand to hurt him. It's not going down like this, he won't let it.

"Let me get this straight, you deliberately set Emma up to reach out and call me. You know that Jason and I are married, and you throw this woman at me knowing it could hurt him and me. I need you to get her off my case. Otherwise, I am going to speak with her, and I can't promise that she won't get hurt."

His mother isn't liking this at all. She doesn't want to see Emma hurt.

"I am not dealing with this, Shaun. If you don't want to date Emma, then tell her, but know that you'll break her heart."

Now, she is toying with her son's tender heart. Shaun has never been great at hurting people. His mother is hoping that his fear of hurting Emma will force him into her arms.

"Well, I suppose that she'll get hurt, and you can thank yourself for all of that. I will talk to you later."

He ends the call and turns to Jason. Shaun slams his fist into the couch, which makes Jason jump.

"She is behind it, and she won't put a stop to it."

This news just makes Jason even more upset. It's proof that Shaun's mother is trying to break up their marriage. Jason and Shaun go back to a normal day.

***

Shaun has to make a big decision. He knows from talking to his mother that it was her doing that led Emma to call him. He doesn't want to hurt her, but it's got to happen. He isn't going to let his mother or Emma break them up. He's going to get his point across even if she cries. Shaun doesn't want to hear her crying, but if that is what it takes so be it.

***

At the end of the day, Shaun wants to reward his hubby with a night away from the house. Not all parts of the day were bad, but considering the phone calls that came in Shaun figures that he owes his husband. He gets Jason out the door and into the car. Off they go, a new restaurant just opened and the guys are dying to try it. They arrive at the restaurant. When they get into the business, the guys sit back talk, laugh, and just forget about the day. It's been nice to just escape for an hour or two. When they get home, they brush their teeth and climb into bed, cuddle, and hopefully fall asleep in each other's arms.

***

The next morning, Shaun gets up around 5:30 in the morning and gets coffee made, makes up some toast, gets out the blackberry jam, and then fries up an egg and toasts two halves of an English muffin. It's all for Jason. Jason has to work today from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm. Shaun is willing to go all out for his husband, even if it means getting up on a day he has off to make Jason's breakfast. After breakfast, Shaun spends a few tender moments with his partner. Sadly, it's time for Jason to head off to work and that ended their time together till around 5:00 pm.

***

A little later in the day, Shaun finds himself sitting in the living playing video games when the cats wanted to play. He stops playing to give them some attention. He loves taking breaks from whatever he is doing only to spend it with the cats. As he's playing with the cats, the phone rings. He looks at the caller id and instantly knows whose calling. Shaun is in no mood to speak with her; the day has just gone too good, so he ignores her call.

***

It's after 5:00 pm, and Jason is now home. They spend a few minutes catching up with one another. There is something about spending those minutes together, that just feels good. After talking for a little bit, Jason gets up and starts dinner. Usually, Shaun gets up and helps with dinner, but the phone rings as he is headed in to help with cooking.

"Hello Allen-Williams' residence, Shaun speaking?"

"Shaun, it's about time, we got to talk. Do you know who I am?"

Shaun doesn't have to waste much time in figuring this one out. It's a Salt Lake City area code, it's a female voice, and it's not his mother. Only a couple other people would bother calling the house. One of those people would be welcome any time of day, Sandy, the woman that Shaun calls Mom. The other person is Emma, and she needs to quit calling the house period.

"I'm going to guess that this is Emma."

Shaun says with no enthusiasm whatsoever, and it bothers her a little. She expected him to be happy to hear from her.

"You don't sound happy to hear from me?"

Of course, he isn't happy to hear from her. He would much whether be in the kitchen helping to prepare their dinner.

"You know, I'm not excited at all. I would have thought that by now, you would have gotten a clue."

She doesn't have a clue at all. Shaun would hope she might have an inkling of the wrong she is doing.

"What clue exactly is that, that you are pretending to be gay while living with your room-mate?"

Shaun hopes, this woman will listen to his words and get a clue. If she doesn't, then Emma is going to get an earful.

"As much as you like to believe that I am not gay, I am gay. Jason is not my room-mate. He is my husband and I love him with all my heart. My mother isn't happy about it, but that is the way it is, and I am going to ask that you not call my house again. Do you understand me?"

She might have ended the call at this point if Jason had answered the phone, but she isn't giving up on the man that she thinks is hers.

"I understand that you are hiding behind some imaginary sexuality..."

"Okay, you know what, this phone call is over. Do not call again."

He immediately hangs up the phone, then he walks into the kitchen to see what he can do for his husband.

"I take it that was Emma again. Did she finally get the message?"

Shaun is unhappy with the whole situation. As much as he wants to turn and walk away to cool down, he decides that maybe talking it out can't hurt.

"Jason, I don't know if she'll ever have a clue. I really don't think that she'll ever figure this out. She seems hell-bent on me not being gay. Can you believe that she honestly thinks that I am faking being gay?"

Shaun presses up against his babe's backside and wraps his arms around him.

"Do you think that I'm faking being gay?"

Jason feels a surprise and blushes a little bit.

"Nope, I don't think you're faking at all, and if Emma could feel that she would know that you're not faking it."

Shaun makes a face and then laughs.

"She wouldn't be feeling it, but I would love for her to see you kissing me and watch her face as you reach down and grab my cock."

He's right, it would be funny to watch her reaction to it. Still, they wouldn't want her to catch them in a moment like this, it's just for them.

***

After dinner, the guys decide to go for a walk around the neighborhood. They do as much talking as they do just enjoying each other's company. They say hi to some of their neighbors as they walk. Some of the neighborhood dogs even come up to play. Jason can't help play with the dogs. Shaun, on the other hand, isn't so crazy about playing with them. Their walk continues around the block until they arrive home again. A half-hour might have passed while they walked.

***

What they find when they get home is upsets both Jason and Shaun. The light is blinking on the phone, telling them that there is voice mail. When they reviewed the voicemail, they realize that Emma had called several more times. She called ten times in the half-hour that Jason and Shaun were gone. Each time, she insisted that Shaun was there and was just not answering the phone. Seriously though, can you blame Shaun and Jason for wanting to be gone on that walk?

"What do you want to do about her phone calls?"

Jason asks his husband. He's hoping that Shaun deals with this woman and deals with it soon. There shouldn't be someone trying to get between them.

"I am going to block her, but first, I want to try talking to her first. I want to give her a chance to redeem herself."

Jason pats his boyfriend on the back, letting Shaun know that he agrees with what he just said. Shaun will sit back and wait for the phone call, but in the meantime, he is right there with his husband.

***

One of the things that Jason and Shaun enjoy is just sitting back on the couch together. It's something that they've enjoyed since their first days back in the apartment. They kiss, hug, and cuddle. It's relaxing and the guys find that just kicking back on the couch is their favorite place to chill other than their bed. It's nice to have some time just for themselves without any cares in the world. They need some time for themselves today.

***

Two hours later and there is another call from Emma. This call will be the last one. One way or another, it will be the final call. Jason answers the phone.

"Hello Allen-Williams residence, Jason speaking. Can I help you?"

"You again, Is Shaun there and this time no tricks?"

Jason puts the phone down and goes to Shaun. He tells his husband, who's on the phone, and he is ready for her. He picks up the phone and gets ready to tear into her.

"Emma, I think the last time I spoke to you that I asked you not to call me again. So, this is what's going to happen, you will not call me again. You will not bother my husband again. We are going to deal with this right now. Good-bye."

Shaun doesn't even give her a chance to speak before he delivers his message. He quickly goes through the process of getting her phone number blocked, and that ends all of that mess. Now they can focus on other things.
