Sam and Chris

Chapter 15: Going to Chicago

I hurried from my CS TA session to Chris's condo. I let myself in. Chris was again standing naked near the door of the condo!

"Chris, this is getting to be a habit, huh?" I admonished my boyfriend. "But, I'm not complaining. I like seeing my beautiful boyfriend standing here in all of his naked glory!"

Chris held me tight and kissed me. "Your turn! Naked! Now!" Chris said with a smile on his face.

I stripped in record time. Chris pulled me in for another hug and kiss. "You know, Chris, I love it when you hold me like this!"

"I'm glad! Because, I like it too!" Chris added. "And, since we have all night tonight, I thought we might sit for a minute and relax before I take your body by storm!"

"Do you have anything to do for class tomorrow? I wouldn't want to be responsible for the wrath of you father if your grades slipped!" Chris added as he smiled and kissed me on the forehead.

"I just need to look over my calculus homework. It should take about 30 minutes, max!" I announced.

"I have a few things I need to look over for tomorrow, too. Do you want coffee or a beer?" Chris asked.

"Probably coffee! I might get too horny if I start with a beer!" I added.

Chris made the coffee while I retrieved the stuff I needed to work on. I sat at the kitchen island to look over my stuff, and Chris disappeared into his office. I finished my stuff after about 20 minutes, and began looking at the e-mails on my tablet. One was from my father:

"Sam, I have the final offer for the farm. No one around here seems to know whether it is a fair offer or not. I have this feeling that the whole thing is worth more than $21 million to these people. Does Chris's grandfather know anyone who can place a value this transaction? Thanks. Dad"

`That's dad!' I thought to myself. `Brief and to the point!'

Chris came out of his office a few moments after I had read dad's e-mail.

"So, stud! What will we do next?" Chris asked.

I showed him my father's e-mail.

"I can ask!" Chris added. He picked up the phone and waited for someone to answer. He put it on speaker phone.

"Hello, Chris!" Chris's grandfather answered. "What can I do for you? I assume this isn't a personal call since you called on my private business line!"

"Yes, Sir! Sam's father needs some advice on a real estate transaction," Chris began his explanation. "I thought you might be able to direct him to someone familiar with valuing a farm in Southern Illinois."

"Probably. We have a couple of people on staff here who have become quite familiar with these sorts of things. Tell me something about this transaction," Chris's grandfather suggested.

"I'll put Sam on the phone. He knows more about this than I do, for certain!" Chris said with a laugh. He handed the phone to me.

"Hello, Mr. Washington! I'm looking forward to meeting you tomorrow!" I added.

"And, we are very much looking forward to meeting you, Sam! Chris has told us a great deal about you—all good, I can assure you. Now, give me a few details if you can." Mr. Washington suggested.

I gave him a scaled down version of the transaction and the most recent offer.

"I think I have the perfect person on our staff. She's actually from Southern Illinois somewhere. Effingham, I believe. Is that near you?" Mr. Washington asked.

"Not far at all!" I added.

"Let me see if I can reach her before she leaves the office today. I'll call right back!" Mr. Washington instructed.

"Thank you, SIR! I know my father will be grateful for your assistance!" I added. I handed the phone back to Chris.

They talked for a short while and, then, ended their conversation.

"That was nice of your grandfather! I'm not sure what the hourly rate will be, but I think my dad will appreciate the help!" I added when Chris was off the phone.

"I think, after he meets you, he might give your dad a `family' rate!" Chris added.

"So, what do you think we should do now?" I asked.

"Well, it's 4:30... we could have a drink, have a nap, have coffee, or start dinner," Chris gave me my options.

"I don't really need a nap, but we could go to bed!" I excitedly replied.

About that time, Chris's phone started ringing.

"Hello, gramps!" Chris answered his phone and hit the speaker phone button.

"Can Sam hear us?" Mr. Washington asked.

"Yes. You're on speakerphone!" Chris replied.

"Good news! I caught Julie Braunecher. She's going to call your father in about 30 minutes. Would you please let him know that, Sam?" Mr. Washington instructed.

"Sure! Gladly! I know he will really appreciate the help!" I answered.

"Terrific! I hate to cut this short, but your grandmother is expecting me home to get ready for some event. If I'm late, there will be hell to pay!" Mr. Washington added.

"Thanks, gramps! We wouldn't want to annoy grandma! Have a good evening!" Chris added.

"Thanks. You too! And, we're looking forward to your visit this weekend! See you tomorrow!" Mr. Washington added as he ended the call.

"Now, you need to call your father. Knowing gramps, Julie will waste no time in calling your dad."

I called my father and gave him the information about Julie. "Hello, Dad! We heard back from Chris's grandfather. He has someone on his staff who handles real estate issues similar to yours. Her name is Julie Braunecher. She's going to call you in about 30 minutes."

"Thank you! That was fast! I wonder," Dad started to think out loud, "if she knows Russ Braunecher who owns the Cadillac dealership in Effingham."

"I don't know, but Chris's grandfather said he thought she was from Effingham." I answered.

"Okay! Again, I really appreciate everything! I'll let you know what she thinks of the offer," my father replied.

"I'll be eager to hear how this works out! Anyway, say `hello' to mom. Have a good evening!" I said as I signed off.

"Now! We're free! Free at last!" Chris smilingly said.

"I am really get used to this," I said as I snuggled up to Chris.

"Yea! Me, too! Ah... I only mentioned you moving in here in January because I knew you still had your dorm contract to pay for. But, I wouldn't mind if you wanted to spend a LOT more time here before then!" Chris added as he kissed me.

"You mean that?" I asked.

"Of course, I mean that! I like having you here! And, I wouldn't let sex get in the way of my boyfriend's scholastic achievements!" Chris smiled broadly as he said that.

"How much time?" I asked.

"Well, if we can work it out, I think at least Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights," Chris kissed me as he finished his thoughts.

"Let me think about it, okay!" I answered as Chris kissed me again.

I paused for a moment, "I've thought about it. Can we do this on a trial basis?"

"Sure! Why a trial? Do you think you'll get bored being here with me?" Chris asked.

"Not on your life! I love being with you! I thought maybe a trial because I might want to add Monday and Wednesday nights to the mix!" I replied as I kissed Chris.

Chris had a huge grin on his face as he leaned in to kiss me again. This one, though, wasn't just a peck on the lips.

"Now," he whispered, "why don't we go celebrate with a drink, and I'll start dinner in a few minutes?"

"Deal!" I added as I kissed him again.

Chris took my hand as we went into the kitchen. "Do you like Champagne?" he asked.

"I've never had any, but I'd like to try it—especially with you!" I added with a little lust in my voice.

"Sit! I'll get glasses and the bubbly!" Chris ordered.

Chris pulled out the glasses from the cabinet and the bubbly from the fridge. And, with a loud `pop,' he expertly opened the bottle and began to pour. He sat down beside me, handed a glass to me, and raised his glass.

"Here's too many, many happy, healthy times in our long life together!" Chris toasted.

We clicked our glasses and drank. After our first sip, he leaned over and kissed me.

I started to shed a few tears, and I leaned over and kissed him. "God! Chris! You make me so fucking happy!"

Chris stood in front of me, pulled me up against him, wrapped his muscular arms around me, and held me tight. I clung to him like glue!

"And, my dear man, you make me fucking happy, too! That's why I love you!" Chris whispered.

Chris began to pull away, but I didn't release my grip on him, "I'm not ready to let you go just yet!"

Chris pulled in me tight again. After a few more minutes of hugging, Chris finally said, "If you don't let me go so I can fix us dinner, our neighbors will find two, naked, hungry men holding each other who starved to death. You don't really want to subject our neighbors to that, do you?"

I thought for a second, "Did you just say `our neighbors'?"

"Yup! If I have neighbors, you have neighbors! Get used to it!" Chris whispered.

"Okay!" I answered. "I'll let you go for a little while, but I expect you next to me all night!"

"That, dear man, is a promise!" Chris added as I let go of his body.

Chris busied himself with preparing dinner. It is amazing to see Chris perform in the kitchen. He makes everything look easy and fun! He created an amazing pasta dish with prosciutto, mushrooms, and a pesto sauce.

"More bubbly or a beer?" Chris asked as he put a plate of his latest creation in front of me.

"One more bubbly and that will be it to drink for me! I can't be hung over tomorrow!" I added.

Chris poured us each another glass of Champagne and sat down to eat.

"Here's to the chef!" I toasted. We clinked glasses.

I began eating. After the first bit, I exclaimed, "This is terrific, Chris!"

"Thank you!" Chris replied. "I did what I could with what I had in the fridge."

"By the way, Chris," I began, "what do I need to bring for clothes?"

"Shorts, jeans, shirt... Do you have a blazer here at school?" Chris explained.

"Yes! I may be from the farm, but I come prepared!" I added with a grin.

"You might want to bring it and a pair of dress slacks. I have no idea what grandma and gramps have planned for us!" Chris injected.

"Got it!" I answered.

"What do you want to do this weekend while we are in Chicago?" Chris again asked.

"Mostly get to know your grandparents, but I'll leave the rest up to you. The neighborhoods would be nice to explore, but it depends on the time we have." I thought out loud.

"That should be easy enough. We can walk to downtown and Michigan Avenue from home. Then, we can either take the train or my car for the rest. We probably won't have time for museum visits, but we can do that another time." Chris outlined his plan. "When were you in Chicago last?"

"A couple of years ago. It was a high school field trip my junior year. We went to the Museum of Science, Museum of Natural History, the Planetarium, The Art Institute, and the John Hancock observatory. We also went to the symphony for a concert." I explained.

"Good! We won't have to worry about those, at least for this trip!" Chris said with a smile. "I also want to take you shopping!"

"Shopping? For what?" I asked.

"I'll explain when we get there. I want it to be a surprise." Chris effused.

"Let me clean up the kitchen, and maybe we could play with each other's bodies! That is if you are interested!" Chris whispered in my ear.

"I'm always interested in that, Chris!" I added. "By the way, I didn't tell you about what we discovered about Tom and Harrison. When we were changing at the gym, Sawyer and I noticed Harrison's butt was a little `bruised.'" I added the air quotes. "And, at lunch, Sawyer—being Sawyer—asked Harrison if he had fallen on his butt over the weekend. It turns out Tom bought a new paddle and it arrived on Friday just in time to use it on Harrison's butt over the weekend!"

Chris turned to me. His left eyebrow was raised slightly. "So, do you want me to spank you?"

"Well, certainly not tonight, but maybe sometime in the future!" I smiled as I answered Chris's question.

"I'm quite okay with that. As a matter of fact, I had in mind a marathon love making session this evening. But, if you'd prefer not to, I won't force you to do that with me!" Naturally, Chris was smiling as he said that.

"You certainly won't need to force me!" I replied. "I'll be on the bed in record time once you give me the word to do so!"

"Good! Because all of this talk about spanking and love making is making me a very horny guy!" Chris said. He came up behind me and put his arms around me.

"You make me very horny just seeing you naked!" I added as I snuggled closer to Chris.

When the dishwasher was finally loaded and running, Chris stood beside me and guided me up from the stool. He put his muscular arms around me and kissed me before he led me into the bedroom. He laid on his back and pulled me on top of him.

We began to kiss passionately. After several minutes of nonstop kissing, Chris rolled us so I was on my back. He moved between my legs, grabbed the lube, and began to apply generous amounts to his cock and my asshole. Chris put my legs over his shoulders, leaned down and kissed me. I felt his huge, uncut cock touch my asshole. He kissed me again before he began his ascent into my waiting ass. With one long, gentle thrust, he was all of the way in.

"God, Chris! You feel so good in me!" I groaned.

"I'm glad you like it so much, because I'm going to make love to you for a very long time tonight!" Chris whispered.

"Take your time! I'm not going anywhere!" I added.

Chris began slowly moving his cock in and out of my ass with slow, gentle precision. He occasionally paused long enough to gently—but passionately—kiss me.

After about an hour, Chris announced, "I'm getting really, really close, lover boy!"

I reached up and began to play with Chris's nipples. With every tweak, he picked up the pace of his strokes. Finally, Chris began to groan as I felt him unload rope after rope of his cum in my ass. He pulled my legs off his shoulders and I wrapped them around his waist. He leaned down and put his full weight on my body. He began to kiss me again. We stayed like that without saying a word to each other. We were just enjoying our make out session. After several more minutes, Chris rolled off me and onto his side. He pulled my body tight to his.

"I could do that every night of my life, I think!" Chris announced.

"Yea! Me, too! And, Chris, if you'll have me, I think I'd like to skip the trial and just stay with you all the time!" I informed him of my thoughts.

Chris began to smile broadly as he leaned in to kiss my nose, "After we get back from Chicago, I'll help you move your stuff!" He paused for a moment before he continued, "Now! Do you want a shower? Would you like to skip the shower and have a beer? Or, do you want to just stay here and cuddle with me until we fall asleep?"

"I vote for staying right where we are!" I answered.

"Good!" Chris replied as he plumped up the pillows.

We were asleep a few moments later.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Chris's alarm went off promptly at 8 am. "I'll make coffee and then we can take a shower... together, of course!" Chris explained his position. I watched his beautiful muscular black ass as he headed into the kitchen! Chris returned to the bedroom and announced, "Now, we can go wash off the smell of last night's sex before we head out!"

"Yea! I think that might be somewhat distracting for the other class members!" I agreed.

We headed to the bathroom to make ourselves presentable. We brushed our teeth and shaved before showering.

"You know, Chris, it's good that you have such a big bathroom. We can do everything together. That way I don't have to let my beautiful boyfriend out of my sight until absolutely necessary!" I added right before we hit the shower.

"It's our bathroom from now on, stud!" Chris answered as he turned on the water for the shower.

"Yes, SIR!" I responded as we stepped in to get clean.

We did a little fondling in the shower, but we were both careful not to start something we didn't have time to finish.

We sat in the kitchen having coffee for a little while before heading off to class.

"I'll pick you and Sawyer up at 2:30 this afternoon?" Chris asked before we headed out the door.

"We'll be ready! I'm really looking forward to meeting your grandparents. But... what will the sleeping arrangements be?" I finally asked.

Chris smiled at me and replied as he tapped me on the nose with his index finger, "I already have a king bed in my room! Besides, I sleep better when you are next to me!"

"Me, too!" I added as I leaned in to give Chris a good bye kiss. "Now, I think we should head off to class!"

"Let's jet, babe," Chris added as we both gathered our stuff for the day.

We walked to campus and parted ways. I made it through my English lit class without falling asleep! That, I thought, was an amazing feat. My computer science class was slightly more interesting, and I talked to Glen. We decided to grab a bite to eat before we headed out to our last class of the day. I turned out Glen was cutting his last class, too.

"So, what's on your agenda for the weekend?" I ask Glen.

"Well, I thought I would head home for the weekend since everyone else is going away. I can get my obligatory visit with the parents out of the way!" Glen replied.

"How are you getting there?" I asked.

"There is an express bus to Ames. My brothers are going to pick me up at the bus station. I actually miss the little shits!" Glen announced. "I only wish I could be as brave as Sawyer and come out to my parents. But, that's not going to happen this weekend, for sure."

"I don't know what it is about Baptists, but there seems to be a thing about gay people. But, what I still don't know is why?" I added.

"Well... I really don't know to tell you the truth! My parents are very caring and empathetic people... except they share an overwhelming hatred for gay people with the rest of the fucked up congregation. I sometimes wonder if it is actually what my parents think, or if it is their need to hang on to my father's fucking job. He's been at the same church for about 15 years. And, he gets paid pretty well for a minister. Plus, they live in a house that the church owns and he gets a car allowance." Glen replied with some sadness in his voice.

"Well, I don't know what to say about all of this except I have a feeling you don't want do anything rash until you know more about the situation. I do know Chris gets a little teary eyed when he talks about his parents... which is rare," I offered.

"Maybe, if he's willing, I should talk to Chris about this!" Glen added with a little excitement coming back to his voice.

"I'm sure he'd be willing to talk with you. But, like I said, he gets more than a little emotional when he does discuss his parents," I added.

"Thanks, Sam, for talking with me about the parents and this whole Baptist shit! But, I need to get going to my last class..." Glen said. His voice seemed to have the sadness back. "Please give Sawyer a hug for me. We said our good byes this morning. But, I'm still going to miss him this weekend... I'm beginning to get really attached to him!"

"I can tell!" I replied as I ruffled Glen's hair a bit. "If you need to talk this weekend, just give me a call, okay!"

"Thanks, Sam! I appreciate that more than you know! Have a great time in Chicago with Chris!" Glen said as he trotted off to his next class.

After my calculus class, I dashed back to the dorm room. Sawyer was already there and had gathered up his stuff for our adventure to Chicago. I quickly did the same.

When Sawyer saw that I had added a blazer and tie to my collection of clothes, he said, "My! My! What does lover boy have planned for you this weekend?"

"Chris suggested that we be prepared for whatever his grandparents had planned for us!" I added. Just about then, my phone began to ring. It was Chris, "Hello, stud!"

"Hello, Sam! I'm downstairs. Are the two of you ready?" Chris asked.

"Yup! We'll be right down!" I replied. Sawyer and I were ready to make our exit when I remembered Glen's request. "Sawyer! I talked to Glen today after computer science class. He wanted me to give you a `good bye' hug for him."

I pulled Sawyer into a hug and added a kiss, "The hug was from Glen. The kiss was from me!"

"Thanks, Sammie!" Sawyer said as we headed out the door. "I'm going to need all of the support I can get to make it through this fucking weekend! I think Darren is also just as nervous about our talk with the parents."

"We'll be just a phone call away, Sawyer!" I said as we dropped our bags into the already opened trunk of Chris's car. Chris was leaning against the passenger side of his car with his sexy smile plastered on his face.

I kissed Chris as he said, "So, men! We're off!" He opened the passenger side door for me as well as the back door for Sawyer. We all took our respective seats and were speeding off in no time flat.

We talked mostly about Sawyer and Darren's announcement to their parents. I could tell Sawyer was becoming more and more nervous as we approached the city.

When we were on our final approach to the city, Chris left the expressway and pulled onto Lake Shore Drive. I was amazed at the skyline as we headed north.

"God! This is so amazing, Chris! It must have been terrific growing up here, Sawyer!" I said to both of my men.

"It was good, I'll have to admit. There is a lot going on here!" Sawyer effused. "Ah... Chris, you don't need to take me all of the way to Evanston. You can drop me at a train station if you'd like."

"Nope! This is an express door-to-door ride, Sawyer!" Chris replied. "Besides, my grandparents won't be home until about 6 tonight. Where in Evanston are we headed?"

"Near Central and Green Bay Road. I'll give you turn-by-turn directions when we get closer. I'll even use my sexiest GPS voice!" Sawyer quipped. "If you want, Chris, we could take Sammie here through Northwestern and then to my house. He can see what he could have had if he had a better GPA!"

I turned to Sawyer who was smiling broadly, "Sawyer, for your information, I was accepted at Northwestern. But, I opted for UIUC. I just knew I would meet someone as crazy as you!"

We did indeed go through the Northwestern campus and then arrived at Sawyer's family home. We pulled into the driveway of an obviously upscale huge, brick house.

"Nice house, Sawyer!" Chris said as he turned off the ignition.

"Thanks. My parents bought it right after Darren was born. They just finished a rehab last summer. It was a gruesome project, but my mother was pleased with the results. Do you want to come in and meet her? My father won't be home until late, I am sure!" Sawyer added.

"Sure!" Chris replied.

We entered through the back door. Darren greeted us, "Hey! Guys! How was the trip?"

"Super, bro!" Sawyer replied as he pulled his brother in for a hug.

Chris and I also got a hug from Darren.

"Where's Mom?" Sawyer asked his brother.

"She's upstairs getting herself ready for the arrival of her favorite son!" Darren deadpanned.

About then, a very attractive woman entered the kitchen. "Hello, Sawyer!" she said as she hugged Sawyer.

"Mom, this is my roommate, Sam," Sawyer began his introductions, "and his boyfriend, Chris. Chris, Sam, this is my mother Jenifer Cunningham."

"It is so nice to finally meet you two! Sawyer and Darren have both mentioned you often!" Mrs. Cunningham added as she offered her hand to the two of us.

"It's nice to meet you, too, Mrs. Cunningham!" I offered.

"Please call me Jen! Mrs. Cunningham is my mother-in-law!" she added. "Can I get you something to drink or eat?"

"No thank you!" Chris responded. "We need to be on our way soon."

"Okay! You don't need to rush off on our account, but I understand. Thank you for bringing Sawyer home!" she finished.

"You're welcome!" Chris said to Mrs. Cunningham. "We'll call you later about our return trip, Sawyer."

"Okay, guys! Have fun! Don't lose our farm boy in the big city!" Sawyer said as he hugged Chris and me good bye.

We were soon on our way to meet Chris's grandparents. It only took us about 30 minutes to arrive at their house.

"I'll drive up Astor and show you the front of the house. Then, we'll go to the back to park in the garage," Chris announced as he pulled up to the curb in front of 1400 Astor. "This is it!" He was pointing to this fucking huge red brick house. It covered the entire lot.

"And, you said my parent's house was big! This thing is fucking huge!" I gushed. The house was, indeed, huge. It had at least three stories. The first two floors had an amazingly large bay window in the middle. There was even what appeared to be a turret on the left.

"Yea! It's big, alright. I'll explain more about the house when I give you the tour," Chris added with a smile on his face. "We need to go around to the back to park."

We took a few more turns and were facing the garage with five garage doors. Chris clicked the garage door opener and the middle bay door opened. He pulled in and closed the door behind us.

"I see grandma is home. Gramps hasn't arrived yet," Chris said as he surveyed the other spaces in the garage. We grabbed our stuff from the trunk and headed to the house's back entrance. Chris opened the back door and punched in a code to the alarm system. "Remind me to give you the code before we leave again. Otherwise, we could have an army of police and security people here in a few short seconds!"

We walked into the spotless, absolutely gorgeous kitchen. "Holy shit, Chris! This is nice!" I exclaimed about the time an extremely attractive man stepped into the kitchen.

"Christopher!" he greeted Chris and pulled him into a hug. "It's so good to see you again! Your grandparents are excited to have you back for a few days! And, this young man must be Sam!" he said turning to me.

"Yup! Sam, this is Henry. Henry, this is Sam!" Chris made the introductions.

Henry pulled me into a hug! "I finally get to meet the man that swept our Christopher off his feet!"

"It's nice to meet you, too! Chris has told me all about your amazing cooking abilities!" I added.

After Henry released me from his bear hug, he turned to Chris, "Your grandmother will be down shortly! Why don't you take your things upstairs to your room, Chris? Then, come back down to the living room. I'm setting out some munchies before dinner. Your grandfather is even coming home a little early!"

"We'll be right down," Chris answered as we grabbed our stuff and headed upstairs in the elevator! "This must be a very special occasion! We almost never use the living room except to entertain highly regarded guests!"

"Maybe they are just glad to see you, Chris!" I added with a smile. We dumped our stuff on Chris's king bed, and Chris suggested we change into slacks and a polo shirt. Once we were dressed, we headed back downstairs. But, this time we took the staircase down!

"Holy... cow!" I exclaimed. "This is one big entryway! You could have a party in here!"

"It is big! At Christmas, this room has the biggest of many trees in the house!" Chris added as he guided me into the formal living room!

Chris was "introducing" family members and previous house owners whose portraits were displayed throughout the room.

"Christopher!" Chris's grandmother exclaimed as she entered the living room.

Chris pulled his grandmother into a hug, "It's good to see you again, grandma!"

Once Chris released his grandmother, she moved to greet me, "And, this must be Sam! It's so nice to meet you! And, before we go any further, I hope you will address me as Elaine!"

"It's great to finally meet you, too!" I replied as I politely shook her extended hand. "Chris was just explaining some of the portraits in the room."

"This old house certainly has a lot of history to it! We've lived here for 30 years. But, it was built in 1886. Chris can explain more when he shows you the rest of the house. Now, Chris, your grandfather will be here shortly, but would you make me a scotch on the rocks and get whatever you two want to drink?" Mrs. Washington instructed. "I for one am ready for a good stiff one after the day I've had!"

Chris moved to a large armoire which very cleverly concealed a bar. He made his grandmother her scotch on the rocks and brought us two Corona's. Henry arrived with a tray full of very delectable "munchies," as he called them, and set them on the coffee table.

"We thought we would use this and the formal dining room tonight and be a little more casual tomorrow evening!" Mrs. Washington explained.

About that time, a very handsome, tall, well-built man walked into the room.

"Gramps!" Chris exclaimed as he wrapped his grandfather in his arms!

"It's good to have you home, Christopher! We miss your bubbly disposition around here!" his grandfather added.

"Gramps, this is Sam Williamson. Sam, this is my grandfather Tom Washington," Chris introduced us.

Chris's grandfather extended his hand as he said to me, "Sam! Finally, we meet!"

"It's a pleasure to meet you, too, Mr. Washington!" I added.

"Cut the Mr. stuff. It's Tom, please! We've been hearing all about you from Chris! He talks about you all the time, right, Christopher?"

"Yea! I guess I sort of do!" Chris admitted. "What can I get for you to drink, Gramps?"

"Thank you, Chris. Vodka on the rocks, please!" Mr. Washington answered.

When Chris returned with Mr. Washington's drink, his grandparents sat in two wing chairs. Chris and I took our place on a small sofa that faced them.

"I don't know if you've talked to your father today, Sam, but Julie is on her way down to see her family this weekend. She plans to see your parents on Monday morning to try and assess the situation." Mr. Washington offered.

"I haven't talked to him today, but I know he will be grateful for any help he can get. This whole sale thing is moving rather quickly, I guess!" I added.

"Your family is in good hands, Sam! Julie is one of the best in this kind of transaction. She knows her stuff! She was also grateful she could schedule this with a visit to see her family. I'm afraid we've been keeping her very, very busy these last few months." Mr. Washington explained.

"And, Sam, Chris told us your mother is going to be at Northwestern in the fall!" Mrs. Washington piped up.

"Yes. She is really excited about it. She's wanted to be a writer almost all of her life, and she thought this might spur her on!" I replied.

"The creative writing program has a stellar record of producing top-notch writers," Mrs. Washington assured me. "If your parents need any assistance at all, please let Tom and me know! Besides, we'd like to meet them in person! Chris just raved about your parents after your visit last weekend!"

"They will be at the show I'm in! Maybe you could come down at the same time!" Chris enthused.

"Just tell us where and when! We'll be there!" Mr. Washington answered.

"So, Sam, you are a computer science major. What led you to that path?" Mrs. Washington queried.

"Well, I started playing with computers when I was 8. I guess I have it in my blood by now! Hopefully, there will still be a demand for computer geeks once I finish college!" I answered.

"I don't think you will need to worry about that, Sam! We have a hoard of them at the firm! It seems everything is done by computers now. When they learn to show up in court, I might consider retiring!" Mr. Washington joked.

"Somehow, I can't picture that, gramps!" Chris added.

"You're probably right, Chris. I may not retire, just slow down a little," Mr. Washington added. "Besides, Elaine and I have talked about spending more time in Palm Beach during the winter. It seems such a waste to have a house down there and not use it much!"

"I'm considering retiring after next year! I need to move on so someone younger can take over!" Mrs. Washington said with a smile.

"But, you love teaching, grandma!" Chris responded.

"Yes, I do. But, it's not as much fun as it used to be!" she added shaking the ice in her drink! "I don't know about you guys, but this old lady needs another drink!"

Chris refreshed his grandparent's drinks and brought two more Coronas for us.

"What are your plans for the weekend, Chris?" Mrs. Washington asked.

"I think we are going to walk down to Michigan Avenue so I can show Sam the `Magnificent Mile.' Then, we're probably going to head north through Lincoln Park and Lakeview. After that, we'll just play it by ear!" Chris explained our options.

"It's supposed to be a beautiful day tomorrow!" Mrs. Washington effused.

Henry stepped into the living room to announce dinner was ready. We moved into the dining room.

During dinner, we discussed Chris's upcoming show. Luke's stay in England. My roommate, Sawyer. And, more about the Benson-Washington family.

Before it was time to head up to bed, Chris' grandmother stated, "You know Chris, your grandfather and I have been thinking that the family charity trust is not doing enough to help people who really need help. So, I'll let Tom tell you about what we have in mind, but I hope you have some ideas."

Then, it was Chris's grandfather's turn, "Elaine and I feel that the board of the charity isn't as interested in paying out the money as they are in building up the endowment. Before I go on, Chris, you have told Sam something about the family charity trust?"

"Ah... Yes, gramps! I did. I didn't want him to be surprised!" Chris answered.

"Good!" Chris's grandfather continued. "At least I don't need to spend a lot of time on specifics. But, over the last 10 years, the endowment has gone up significantly. While we are grateful for the board's conservative approach, we think we need to do more to make the money go out instead of just grow the endowment. So, we thought we should ask some new blood to give us ideas about what you would hope could be done. Most of it, at this point, has been scholarships to Northwestern and UIUC students in need of financial help that they can't get otherwise."

"Ah... I don't really know if it possible. But, I was lucky to have two grandparents who were so supportive when I was essentially kicked out of my parents' home when they found out I was gay. Not everyone has that good fortune. And, I know Luke received some out-of-the-blue financial assistance so he could continue at UIUC when his parents' cut him off after, well, after finding him in a compromising position with Sean." Chris paused slightly, "You two wouldn't know anything about that would you, grandma and grandpa?"

"Let's just say, we pulled a few strings to get him a much needed financial aid package," Chris's grandfather answered looking at his cup of coffee on the table.

"I'm sure!" Chris added with a smile as he looked from a very sheepish grandfather and grandmother. "Does Luke know?"

Chris's grandfather continued with his simple explanation. We were left to draw our own conclusions, "Well, I know the head of the financial aid office at UIUC, and he got involved with Luke's situation."

"The point I am trying to make... Is there any way to establish a scholarship fund for students at UIUC and Northwestern—or maybe even other schools—whose parents have cut them off because they are gay?" Chris finally got it out.

"I'm certain there is, Chris! And, that would be a good utilization of the charities endowment. I'll have someone at the office look into that for us. I don't know how many people we would be able to help. Surely there aren't that many lunatic parents out there!"

"Ah..." I began. "I know two guys who are very close to being in that situation." I turned to Chris, "Glen and Brandon!"

"I'll look into it. In the meantime, tomorrow morning is a busy day for you too! So, why don't we talk more about this later?" Mr. Washington added.

We said good night to Chris's grandparents. And, on our way up to bed, Chris explained more about the house. "It was built in 1886 for Perry Smith. Later, William Wrigley's daughter and her husband bought the house, and it has been named the Wrigley-Offield Mansion ever since. It's about 10,000 square feet and has 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. My grandparents bought this place around 1974. They have talked about selling it in the future. I think if my grandmother does retire, it will probably be history!"

We were finally at the door of Chris's bedroom. He led me in, closed the door behind him, and began to kiss me. "I think we need to do something about these pesky clothes, don't you think, Sam?"

We quickly removed our clothes and put them on a sofa near the closet.

"Are you tired?" Chris asked.

"Sort of. Why?" I added.

"As much as I want to make love to you tonight, it might be better if we just held each other. We could make up for lost time tomorrow!" Chris said with a huge grin.

"As long as you are next to me, I really don't care what we do!" I answered.

Chris pulled me into bed on top of him and we began to kiss. Finally, he rolled us both on our side and we held each other tightly.

Soon we were asleep!
