Chapter 21 Book 2 part 2 Within the security chamber of the High Council building, The Supreme prefect was meeting with his inner council, "So, where do we stand?" Litral, The Supreme Prefect asked. "Sir, we searched for the Wandering forest, but it has vanished," Commander Bide Responded. "Commander, you know full well, we need to secure them before we proceed," Litral replied. "Sir, I will locate them, but what if they try something, I have been told that Lord Lakkin-Do is most powerful," he replied. "Commander, if you feel threatened when you locate them, they are in the form of wood, wood burns, does it not?" Litral smirked. "Yes Sir, Sir, what is the end game here?" he asked. "Commander, what it has always been, I did not send agents to Earth for research, well not entirely, anyway, that was Levert's job, he did his job well. No, I had agents searching for allies on that world, we had some in the people of Korea, but they jumped before they should have, Levert prevented a disaster. But now we have our army," Litral informed Bide, "Sir what do you mean army?" he asked. "Oh my dear Bide, The people of Earth will be my front line against the Krile, didn't you know that," He boasted. "The woman will have our children until a cure is found, but the men will fight," he added. "But sir, isn't that slavery and isn't the war over? Didn't they lower their weapons?" Bide asked. "Commander, Major Barnes did us a great service, one he has no idea of, he bought us time, precious time," he went on. "And what is slavery?" Litral asked. "Sir it was something I learned on Earth, it isn't anything they are proud of, basically, it is getting another culture or race to do your bidding under force," Bide concluded, looking none too pleased. "What we did to the Bokite's?" Litral responded. "Pretty much, so yeah," Bide replied. "Only for s short time, though, commander, they will be free eventually," Litral replied. "But at what cost, sir" Bide replied. "Don't go soft on me, commander." Litral said, looking intently at his commander "The Chip's inside the Krile agents have been replicated, and during the transport of the Earthlings, we will implant the chips. They will do our bidding," he went on. "Do they work?" Bide asked. "Perfectly, some have already been implanted, and our end game is going ahead, and my family will have its revenge," he concluded. Meanwhile, back with the boys walking through the streets of Tellad. "This place just astounds me," I said to Craig, "I could sense you were impressed," Craig replied. "I am still getting some strange looks," I said showing some trepidation. "People are naturally curious," Craig responded kissing my cheek. "I am going to speak to Dad about us visiting Judak" Craig said holding my hand. We could not get away with this back in Washington, "What on the Krile home world" I replied. "Yeah, would be a first, we could be Emissaries or something" He added. "Okay, but can we have some US time first?" I asked. "Still horny?" he asked. "Well, yeah, but I have orange sand where you shouldn't have sand," I giggled out. "We will take a shower when we get home," he informed me. We walked a short distance when a siren was sounded, Craig's communicator sounded and he answered. "Hello, Father." "Yes, he is with me." "What is the problem?" "Yes, I have, Father, you are worrying me, now," Craig went on, now I feeling the concern. "What's wrong Craig?" I asked, and all of a sudden my world went black. I woke up. I don't know how long I was out, I was lying on a sofa of some kind, Craig stroking my forehead, my father also unconscious, lying on a second sofa. "What the fuck happened?" I demanded. "Babe, you were implanted, we removed yours and Major Barnes'," Craig said, still stroking my forehead. "What do you mean, implanted...with what?" I demanded. "Some sort of control chip, it activated when that siren sounded," he informed me. "Erhhh, ohh, my fucking head!" My dad moaned as he came around. "Bobby, are you okay, son?" he asked and I hugged him. "Dad, we were implanted with some sort of control chip," I informed him. "Krile?" he asked. "Major, I don't think so, the Chip was made from materials found on Lokite," Levert responded. "This stinks," My Dad bemoaned and I had to agree. "So who has the power to do this, the resources?" Dad asked. "Only one, I need to speak to Kolmar as soon as possible," Levert replied. 1 Hour later in Levert's office. "Why the urgency?" asked Kolmar, as he entered Levert's office. "I don't know, perhaps you could tell me," Levert asked. "Sorry, you have lost me, old friend," he replied. "Why have the Humans been chipped?" Levert said with some authority in his meaning. "Chipped, what do you mean?" Kolmar replied looking as confused as Levert hoped he would be. "Major Barnes, and his son, Booby collapsed soon after s siren had sounded. What do you know about it?" Levert enquired. "I heard the siren, but it was a test" Kolmar replied. "Kolmar, nothing happens in Tellad unless you know about it, Bobby and George Barnes had control chips implanted, I am having some of the others checked, but I think I know what I will find," Levert responded. "What I want to know is why and what for?" Levert added. "You think Litral is behind this, don't you?" Kolmar replied, looking somewhat worried. "You heard the stories. His family plotted the downfall of Bokite, and if it wasn't for this virus that has kept his family very few and far between, they would have overall control of Lokite, but he is supreme Prefect. He has executive powers that make him untouchable," Levert added. "But to what end? I mean, the war with the Krile is over," Kolmar replied, still looking somewhat baffled. "Yes, for us, it is, but is it for him?" Levert replied. "We don't have proof, and even if we do get the proof, what assurance do we have the council won't side with him?" Kolmar responded. "We don't, I have been away from here for 6 years, only you know how much influence he wields," replied Levert. "He is a very good politician," Kolmar responded. "As are you, old friend," Levert replied. "We need to know what he is up to, we need to get someone to talk to us," Levert added. "I will make some quiet discreet inquiries," Replied Kolmar before he left Levert's office. Back at Levert's Family home... "How do you feel" Craig asked Me. "Pissed, totally pissed, and betrayed," I replied. I looked over at my dad, and he had a look of concern on his face. "I cannot get a hold of your mother, this sodding communicator is not working," Dad said, with some panic, I had not ever heard him like this. The feeling of helplessness was all too new to him. "Major, give me the thing," Craig went over and took the communicator from my dad, he touched some buttons and handed it back. "You had it set for space-travel communication," Craig replied. "Oh, I didn't notice that, thanks," Dad answered. "Hello, Mary, are you okay?" He asked, and walked out of the room to talk to Mom. "Babe, honestly I do not know what is going on, but if anyone can find out, dad will," Craig replied, kissing me on the cheek. "I still need that shower, I can feel sand traveling where it should not," I somehow laughed. "Okay, see you upstairs in 2 minutes," Craig replied. But before we had a chance to climb the stairs, a mist started to rise from the floor, and in seconds, Collel stood before us. "Collel, what a surprise" said Craig, looking somewhat shocked. "Craiglessty, Bobby, it is pleasant to see you again, I am here on behalf of my lord Lakkin-Do" she started. "We are aware that you are hunting us," she started. "We are what? That comes as news to us, I assure you," Craig replied. "Two days ago, we moved from our area, and the trees that were indigenous to the area, non sentient were burned by troops," she added somewhat disheartened. "Are your people safe?" I asked. "We transformed into something else, we are hidden," She added. And soon, Levert transported into the house. And saw Collel standing there. "Dad, they are being hunted," Craig said, informing his father of the reason for Collel's appearance. "Something is going on, something high in the Governing council," Levert replied. "We are making preparations to leave Lokite," Collel informed us. "This has been your home, for how long?" Levert asked. "Three thousand years, all told, I am fifth generation, our life span is long, but we can die and be killed, if the troops had succeeded with the fire attack, we would have perished," she said in a sad tone. "Something you should be aware of, we had agents on Earth long before you went there, people from Lokite had infiltrated the Korean defence network as well as the Chinese," she informed us. "How do you know this?" asked Levert. "Because I was Lakkin-Do's Agent," she responded. "They launched the attack, not the Chinese or the Koreans. In fact, they tried to prevent it," she added. "So what you are saying is people from Lokite conspired to destroy the Earth?" I asked looking at Craig. "I do not know if that was the plan. We know that the mission was to procure assistance regarding the re-population of Lokite, but some were there for an entirely different purpose. "Explain, please?" Levert asked. "Your defence shield, it's design is strong, we cannot penetrate it, so if it can be modified, we can be trapped, Lord Lakkin-Do believes that is what your Council wants. You think that you discovered that we were here only recently. But the old families on Lokite knew long ago," she added. "So, Litral knew you were here?" Levert asked. "Yes, we believe so, so we have to leave before he perfects the shield and imprisons us," she said. "Can't Lord Lakkin-Do" do something about it?" Levert asked. "He will not; his father made him promise not to Interfere. Stepping in as he did recently was a big step for him. He needs to get things into perspective before he interferes with another culture again. He justified the latter, because it was his people causing the conflict," she added. "But surely self-preservation must work though?" I asked. "That is why we are leaving," she responded with a wan smile. "But be assured that My Lord will not stand idly by and watch his people slaughtered. He saw that happen once already on Bokite. It didn't sit well with him when he was confronted by Judak," she informed us. "The problem is this; he will not differentiate between good and bad. You will all be cast as one, he will make judgement on you all as a single body, so stop whatever your superiors have planned, or suffer the consequences," she said, before vanishing in a cloud of mist. "So, you had spies on Earth?" asked Dad. "Looks like it," replied Levert. "Major, this is not a time for recriminations; we need to find out and somehow stop what Litral has planned," Levert said in a worrying tone. "I need to gauge his level of support, there are those on the council who longed for piece, but also equally, some yearned for vengeance, Litral will play on this," Levert added. "Where does Kolmar fit into this?" asked my dad. "He doesn't, I am a great judge of people, Major, he was somewhat shocked at today's developments, and he himself is asking some quiet questions among some of his own supporters," Levert added. I looked over at Craig; he looked somewhat puzzled at my expression. He came and sat next to me and whispered into my ear. "What's up?" and I turned and whispered back "Fucking Sand, it's in my ass crack." He sniggered in reply. "Okay, Follow me," he replied. With bad intensions I was sure of. To be continued...
