When You Least Expect By Josh Blake Chapter 44 While we had thoroughly enjoyed our trip to London, we all felt like it was time to head home. Some of us felt like we were leaving more behind than others. Mom was leaving behind the potential of a relationship with Timothy and Austin and Lucas were leaving behind a friendship and the opportunity of more fun with Jacob. Both of them felt slightly uneasy with the previous night's events, but it had been fun nonetheless. Braden and I felt a closeness to John and Andy, despite the fact that we had just met them. Mark and Bonnie had used the trip to put some spark back into their relationship. And finally, Jackson had enjoyed exploring all of the Harry Potter attractions and drinking butter beer. We were all taking with us valuable memories that we would hold on to for a lifetime. "What's the first thing you're going to do when we get home?" I asked Mom as she packed her clothes back into her suitcase. "Well, after the plane ride, I'll probably be ready to take a long nap!" she said. "I really have had fun here. Thank you, baby, for bringing me along." Mom came over and hugged me, giving me a kiss on the cheek. "I'd never go anywhere without you, Mom!" "I know that, I just hope I'm not being a burden to you." "You couldn't be a burden if you tried," I said. "Can I ask you a question?" "Sure, honey, what is it?" Mom asked. "Are you happy?" I asked. "Of course I'm happy, dear. I have you and Braden and Jack. What more could I want?" "I just saw how you and Timothy enjoyed being around each other. It was like something was alive in you again. I hadn't seen that in a long time." Mom blushed. "That's silly. At my age who needs all that?" "You're still a vibrant woman, Mom. All I'm saying is that if you wanted to start dating when we get back home, you have my blessing. Not that you need it, but you have it." "That's sweet, honey, but I don't know who I'd even date at my age. Besides, there's too much housework to do to even think about that." "I've been thinking about that, too. With a new baby coming in a few months, I've really thought about hiring someone else to help out." "Josh, I can handle it. You don't need to waste your money." "We have the money, Mom. In case you forgot, I have a pretty big income. Plus we have Braden's income. We are doing alright. I'm going to look into it when we get home. You worked hard raising Jack. Hell, still do. He's a mess. And then there's Braden and me. I know we aren't a picnic either. I just don't want you spending your retirement years taking care of us and not having any fun yourself. You should go to some of the senior centers around town. You'll get to know some people and maybe, who knows, find someone you're interested in." "I don't know, honey, we'll see. I'm just so used to taking care of a house all the time. And no one is going to take care of you boys the way I do." "You're right about that," I said. "I'm not saying you can't do anything. You can still do what you want. What about this. We'll hire someone to handle all the laundry and cleaning full time so you don't have to do any of that. If that person happens to be a decent cook, we can let them handle meals a couple nights a week. You can still do Sunday dinner, if you want to, and maybe a night or two during the week. Braden and I will handle the rest." "I declare," Mom said. "You aren't going to drop it, are you?" "Nope," I said. "But we can talk more about it when we get home." Just as I was finishing my conversation with Mom, my phone rang. I looked to see that one of our new friends, John Wilder, was calling. "John! Good morning! What a pleasant surprise!" I said. "Hi Josh, I wish this was just a call to say Hello, but we have a serious situation. Jacob has run away," John said. His tone was urgent. "Oh no! Is there anything I can do?" I asked. "Actually, yes," John said. John proceeded to tell him about Jacob's visit to Austin and Lucas's hotel room the previous evening, and he wanted me to check with them to see if he had returned. I was taken aback by the idea that Austin and Lucas would have anything to do with Jacob's disappearance and I wanted to hear from them what happened. Even though I had many questions, I knew that John needed answers quickly and didn't have time to explain to me everything that had transpired the night before. I apologized for any involvement that Austin and Lucas may have had and assured him that I would call him back as soon as I knew anything. Mom had a worried look on her face. "Josh, what was that all about?" Mom asked. "I can't really say right now," I said. "I need to go have a talk with Austin and Lucas. Don't worry about it, Mom." After making sure Mom had Jack in her room, I grabbed Braden from our room and headed down the hall to Austin and Lucas's room. I knocked on the door and could hear that the guys were a little busy. Sounds of moaning could be heard through the door. "Go away!" Austin exclaimed. "Open the door!" I said. "We need to talk!" I heard Austin mutter "fuck" under his breath. After about a minute, the door opened. The guys' hair was messy. They were both in just their boxers and the room stank of sweat and sex. The scent actually made me pop a boner, but now wasn't the time for that. "So, I just got a call from John Wilder," I said. "Is there anything you want to tell me?" Lucas looked like he did as a teenager when I caught him doing something he shouldn't have. He shrank away and sat down on the bed. "He forced himself on us," Austin said. "We didn't do anything he didn't want. I don't care what he says, we didn't do anything against his will. He showed up willingly." "What the hell is this about?" Braden asked. I had not explained the situation to him yet and he had a lot of questions based on the look on his face. "Where is he now?" I asked. "Where is who?" Braden asked. "Will someone tell me what's going on?" "Jacob," I said. "John called and said he's gone and wanted to know if he was here." "Jesus!" Braden said. "Tell me you didn't!" "If he pushed himself on you the way he did us you would have done it too," Austin said. "You should see that ass!" Lucas looked like he wanted to cry. He had still not said anything. "Nevermind all that!" I shouted. "When was he last here?" "We haven't seen him since he left last night," Lucas said, finally looking up at me. He looked at me as his father, and he knew he had disappointed me. I hit John's contact on my phone and called him back. He was disappointed to hear that Jacob wasn't with Austin and Lucas and that they hadn't seen him since the previous night. He thanked me for calling him back and said he'd let us know if anything came up. I asked him to let us know when Jacob was found or if there was anything else we could do. "Tell me what happened so I can decide if we need to flee the country or not," I said in an annoyed tone. I sat down in the chair close to the bed. Braden sat down on the arm of the chair, looking at his brother and stepson with an annoyed expression of his own. Austin started the conversation. "We were just about to go to bed when someone knocked on the door. It was Jacob. He pretty much came in, took his clothes off, and seduced us into having sex with him." "You expect me to believe that?" I asked. "It's true, Dad." Lucas said. It had been a while since he had called me Dad. Truth be told, I missed it. "So you guys didn't plan this out while we were at the pub?" Braden asked. "No!" Austin exclaimed. "I mean he's cute and everything, but had he not basically forced himself on us it wouldn't have happened." "Once he was in here with his clothes off and showing us everything he had, there was no way he was going to take no for an answer," Lucas said. I looked at Braden and shrugged. He looked at his brother and Lucas and began to speak again. "Did either of you even stop to take his age into consideration?" Braden asked. "We tried, but he told us he's been with John, Andy, and Evan, so we knew we weren't' the first older guys he's been with," Austin said. "He fucks his stepbrother?" Braden asked. "That's what he claims. And Andy too!" Lucas added. "I'm still not happy about the situation," I said. "I'm not happy with how you two handled it. You should have stopped it before it got out of hand. You should have called me and I would have called John to come get him. But, I know what it's like to be so horny that you can't think straight." "What about Jacob?" Braden asked. "What are we going to do about him?" "There's nothing we can do," I said. "He could be anywhere. John didn't give me a lot of information, but I think there's more going on in that family than we know of. The boy just lost his mother. And he said his boyfriend is all the way in New York. He's hurting. I've seen kids with that look before. I don't know why I didn't realize it at the pub. The look on his face. It's not that much different than the look I used to see on your face, Luke. I just hope John finds him and gets him the help he needs." "If he does happen to show back up, do not do anything with him again!" Braden said. "Call Josh so he can call John. Do you both understand?" Austin and Lucas said they understood. Both of them looked at the floor. "I'm not mad, guys," I said. "Am I disappointed? Yes. But I love you both so much. I know you didn't mean to do anything to hurt that boy. But you have to make better choices in the future. You are both great young men and I'm proud of you. Just promise me you won't do anything stupid again." "We won't," Lucas said. "I'm sorry I disappointed you, Dad." "Come give me a hug, son," I said. I stood up and accepted Lucas into my arms. I hugged his bare torso, pulling him against me. I could feel the bulge from his cock against my leg. I could also smell sex on him. "Now go take a shower and get ready for our last day here," I said. "You both smell like sex!" Lucas blushed, but he and Austin headed off to the bathroom together. "Wait," I said. The guys came back out of the bathroom. "One more thing. No one else needs to know about this. Not my mom or your parents, Austin." I looked at Braden for confirmation. He nodded. "Let's just keep this one to ourselves". "Fine with me," Austin said. Lucas nodded affirmative, then they went back into the bathroom, closing the door behind them. Braden and I saw ourselves out and walked back to our room. "You're really worried about Jacob, aren't you?" Braden asked. "I am," I said. "I wish there was something I could do. But there's not, so we might as well try to enjoy our last day here!" We spent our last Sunday in town exploring and sightseeing as many things as possible. We did a little more shopping at Harrod's and had lunch at a cool place called The Barley Mow. They served traditional fare, including fish and chips, burgers, and chicken wings. It was very good and we all enjoyed it. Austin and Lucas seemed a little distant. When Bonnie asked what was wrong, they just said they were sad to be leaving such a beautiful city. I think she bought it. After shopping and lunch, we decided to check out the London Zoo. Always a lover of animals, Jack really had a great time seeing all the different animals and enjoying the displays. We all got a good laugh when we stopped by the lion enclosure. The two lions, named Simba and Nala, no doubt after The Lion King, were being lazy and just laying around. Suddenly, Simba started pestering Nala. She growled at him and swatted her paw at him as if saying to leave her alone. Simba, however, apparently was feeling frisky. While I was pretty sure I knew what was about to happen, there wasn't time to move Jack along before Simba had mounted Nala. With a roar, he was on her back and breeding her. Nala growled and roared. After only a few seconds, Simba was off of her and Nala ran to a corner of the enclosure away from Simba. "Daddy, what was THAT?" Jack asked, looking up at me with wide eyes. "Ummm, they were just wrestling, baby," I said. Come on, let's go see the monkeys." I tried to usher Jack along. "Do you and Daddy wrestle like that?" Jack asked, now turning to Braden. Braden blushed, not knowing what to say. "Not exactly like that, sport," Braden said. "Daddy's right, let's go see the monkeys." Braden and I both put our hands on Jack's back and guided him away from the lion enclosure and toward the monkeys. "I'd like to wrestle you like that right now," Austin said to Lucas in a hushed tone. It was good to see his sense of humor was coming back! "I heard that!" Bonnie exclaimed. "Let's keep it PG-13, please!" "We all heard that," I said. "And I wish I wouldn't have!" "Whatever," Austin said, pulling Lucas in for a kiss. Suddenly, we heard a little girl's voice. "Mummy, why are those two men kissing?" asked the little girl. "Because they're bloody disgusting," the woman said. "That's vile behavior in a public place. You should be ashamed," the woman spat at Austin and Lucas. We were all a little shocked at her behavior. It was not, unfortunately, our first experience with this sort of thing and it reminded Braden and me of our experience with Asher's father in the mall in Chattanooga. The woman's loud antics had drawn some attention, which we had no desire to take part in. Before anything else could be said, we headed off in the direction of the sign that said `exotic birds.' We were all quiet as we walked in that direction. Austin and Lucas were holding hands, but they were both looking at the ground. Austin, usually upbeat and lively, looked like someone had let the air out of him. "Uncle Austin," Jack said, "what's wrong?" "Nothing, buddy," Austin said. "Everything is fine." It was clear that he was on the verge of tears. Lucas looked the same way. "That lady was mean," Jack said. "You're not disgrusting. What does disgrusting mean anyway?" Austin actually laughed a little bit. He stooped down and let Jack get on his shoulders. This wasn't something he did as much anymore since Jack was older and heavier. "The word is actually `disgusting,'" Austin said. "It means something bad or wrong." Jack let this sink in for a minute. "I don't think you're that, Uncle Austin." "I don't think so either, buddy," Austin said, walking along carrying Jack on his shoulders. "I guess it just goes to show you that it doesn't matter where you are in the world, there are closed-minded people," Mark said. We finished our tour of the zoo after finally making it first to the exotic birds and then to the primates. Jack had fun acting like a monkey and making monkey noises. He didn't want to leave that area, but we finally got him to move along. We left the zoo and started walking back toward our hotel. As we got closer to Buckingham Palace, we saw several cars driving out through the gates. The car in the rear of the procession was a vintage Rolls-Royce. Riding in the back seat was an older couple, a man with gray hair and a woman with blonde hair. It took a moment for us to realize who it was. "Oh my Lord!" Mom exclaimed. "That was the King in that car!" It then hit me that she was right! We had actually seen King Charles III and his Queen Consort, Camilla! While none of us were quick enough to take any pictures, just knowing that we had been that close to the reigning monarchs was something significant! Mom and Bonnie couldn't stop taking about it. It was the highlight of their trip! "I still regret that I never got to come to England when Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was in power," Mom said. "She was such a graceful, dignified woman. I thought I'd never see the day that she was gone." Bonnie agreed and said that she had pretended as a little girl that she was a member of the royal family, attending balls and grand events in the best clothing and jewels money could buy. I admitted that I always had a huge crush on Prince William and Prince Harry. Both of them were only slightly older than me, and they were always so handsome! "I got my very own Prince Harry," Austin said, putting an arm around Lucas. "Lucas looks a lot like him with his fiery red hair." "Stop!" Lucas said, blushing. But it was true. I may not have ever noticed it, but Lucas bore a striking resemblance to the handsome Prince Harry! Now I'd never be able to unsee it! We made it back to the hotel and went back to our rooms to finish packing and to get ready for our early morning flight. We had dinner in the hotel then headed to our rooms. "Remember, everyone, our flight is at 7:00 tomorrow morning. That means we need to be at Heathrow at least by 5:00. 4:30 would make me feel better. Which means we need to be down here and ready to get on the shuttle by 4:00. Bonnie, that means 3:30 for you." "Oh, hush!" Bonnie said. "He's right, dear!" Mark said. This earned him a scowl from Bonnie. Get some rest, everyone!" I said. By this time tomorrow, we'll be back in sweet home Alabama! That's it for this chapter of "When You Least Expect."
