The Abandoned Boy Chapter 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I held the boy in my arms as he sobbed uncontrollably. After a couple minutes went by, he started to calm down. I rubbed my hand up and down his back and told him it would be OK. "It'll never be OK," he moaned, and began weeping again. "Yes it will Simon, I'm going to help you," I said, still rubbing his back. Finally, he seemed to stop crying, but he didn't pull away from me, opting to remain wrapped in my arms. I figured that either he was cold, or just plain content to be held by someone who apparently gave a damn about him for a change. Maybe it was both reasons. So we sat there that way on the dugout floor for a while, neither of us saying a word, me slowly rubbing my hand up and down his back, and he sniffling every so often. After a few minutes, I gave Simon a gentle squeeze and said, "How about we get out of here?" "W-where are you gonna take me?" he asked, pulling away and looking up at me with a slightly scared look. "For now, my place. I live just across the street. Once we get there, we can discuss what's gonna happen next." I said. Suddenly Simon seemed a little scared. "I CAN'T GO BACK THERE! I CAN'T GO BACK TO MY MOTHERS!" he shouted. "No, I imagine that's true," I said, smiling sadly at him, "Simon, I promise you I'll do everything I can to see that you end up in a good situation. You have to trust me, OK?" He looked at me dubiously, and said, "I trust you. It's everyone else I don't trust." I grinned and said, "Well, I'll do what I can to handle 'everyone else' for you! C'mon, let's get out of here, it's freezing!" I stood up and held my hand out to Simon. He looked up at me, still with a frightened look in his eyes, but he finally reached up and took my hand and let me pull him up off the dugout floor. "I promise you I'll make sure everything turns out alright for you!" I said, looking down at him. As he looked up at me, his eyes filled with tears again. "Thank you so much Mr. Winslow," he croaked, and wrapped his arms around me and buried his face against my chest, as he began crying softly again. I wrapped my arms around him and held him while he wept softly for a minute or so, then when he had calmed down a little, I hugged him and said "C'mon, let's go, it's getting really cold!" Simon released me then, picked up his backpack and blanket, and followed me out of the dugout and across the baseball field to my apartment complex. * * * Simon dropped his backpack and blanket on the floor, inside the door when we got back to my apartment. He looked around the livingroom and said "Nice place." "Thanks," I said, "Take off your jacket." Simon removed his jacket, and dropped it next to his backpack, then stood there looking around, not knowing what to do. I noticed he was shivering, and figured he'd be cold for a while. "S-so, what now?" he asked, looking nervously at me. I thought a minute, then smiled at him and said, "How about you take a nice long hot shower, while I fix us something hot to eat. Maybe you'll warm up a little then." Simon gave me a shy half-smile, and said, "It's OK, I don't want to cause you any trouble." I walked over to the boy and put my hand on his shoulder. He felt cold. I looked at him and said, "Simon, you're not causing me any trouble. C'mon." I led him to the bathroom and told him to get undressed and get in the shower. He looked at me uncertainly, but after a moment, he began taking off his T-shirt. "I'll get you a towel," I said, and walked back out into the hallway. I pulled a big plush bath towel, the hairdryer, a stick of deoderant, and a new tooth brush out of the linen closet, and went back to the bathroom. As the door was still open, I just walked in. Simon was standing in front of me, completely nude. "Oh man, I'm sorry," I said. "It's OK, I don't care if you see me naked," he said, smiling. I smiled back at him. He looked emaciated and very pale, and he had some odd bruises here and there on his body. He had a cute penis though. Soft, it was about 4" long, and he was circumsized. He had a dark brown tuft of pubic hair above it. The rest of his body appeared to be smooth and hairless. "OK then, well, here's some things you'll need," I said. "Um - how about you give me your clothes and I'll wash them." "You don't have to do that," he said. I looked at him pointedly. He smiled then and turned around and bent over to pick up his clothes. As he was so undernurished, his buttocks opened and I had a clear view of his anus. I noticed it looked a bit swollen, rather than small, tight, and pink as I'd expected. He straightened up, turned around, and handed me his clothes. He felt in the pockets of his jeans and pulled out a beat-up leather wallet from one pocket, and a few coins from another, then he handed me his jeans. "How about your other clothes too," I said. "You can give them to me after your shower." "I gotta have something to put on when I get out of the shower," he said. "You can put on some of my sweats," I said, "they might be big on you, but they'll be warm." "OK," he said. Then, he walked out of the bathroom, and headed for his backpack. "You can wait till you're done showering if you want," I called after him. "It's OK," he said. Simon opened his backpack, removed all his clothing, and handed it to me. "OK," I said, "Now go hop in the shower. I'll throw these in the wash, and start cooking. What do you want for supper?" Simon blushed and said, "you don't have to go to any trouble. A sandwich is fine." "You like tomato soup and grilled Ham & Cheese sandwiches?" I asked. "Yes, but really -" he said. "Stop Simon. I'm making us soup and grilled sandwiches, unless you don't like them," I said. "I like them. Thank you, Mr. Winslow," Simon sniffed, looking at me, as a tear ran down his cheek. I smiled, reached out, and wiped it away. "You're no trouble Simon, so stop worrying about it. And you can call me Greg, although at school you better stick with Mr. Winslow yet," I said. OK, thanks Greg," Simon said, smiling shyly. "You like your tomato soup made with water or milk?" I asked. "Milk please," he said. "Man after my own heart," I said, "now go shower!" Simon smiled shyly again, then turned and headed for the bathroom. * * * I took Simon's laundry and threw it in the washer, along with some of mine. Then I went to the kitchen and opened a couple cans of soup, dumped them into a pan, added some milk, and set the pan on the stove to simmer while I made our sandwiches. While I was getting the soup ready, I heard the shower start. While Simon was showering, I quickly dug Officer Hankel's phone number out of my pocket and called him. I told him I'd found Simon and had him at my apartment, that he was showering, and I was washing his clothes and making supper for us. He said he'd give us about an hour and a half, then he'd come over. I asked him what he was going to do with Simon. I told him Simon was adament that he couldn't go home. Officer Hankel agreed that he couldn't go home, and said he was going to turn the case over to Social Services, and that he'd probably have someone from their office with him when he came over. We said good-bye then, and hung up. "Who was that?" I Simon asked, from behind me. I whirled around and found the boy standing there, wrapped in the bath towel I'd given him, still dripping a little. "That was Officer Hankel, he's the one who told me you weren't living at home anymore, and wanted my help finding you. I told him I'd call him when I found you. He's coming over in a little while so we can figure out what to do for you. He said he's going to have someone from Social Services with him when he comes." I said. Simon looked scared and upset, and tears welled in his eyes again. "It'll be OK Simon, I promise, I'll do what I can to help you," I said. "I know. Thanks Greg." he said, rubbing his eyes. "C-can I borrow something to wear please?" he asked then. "Sure," I said, smiling at him. I led Simon to my bedroom and let him pick out a pair of my sweat pants, briefs, and a sweat shirt to put on. "They'll be a little big, but they'll cover you up and keep you warm," I said. I left Simon to get dressed and went back to the kitchen. Simon joined me a couple minutes later. He sat on a barstool and quietly watched me make our sandwiches. When they were done, the soup was hot as well, so we sat down and had our supper. Simon devoured his soup and sandwich quickly, and shyly said "yes please" when I offered to make him a second sandwich. He ate that quickly too, then sat back rubbing his belly. "Feeling better now?" I asked. "Yeah, but maybe I ate too much!" he said, smiling ruefully at me. I chuckled and said, "well, just relax, while I flip the laundry and do the dishes. You'll digest soon enough." * * * Simon went out to the living room and sat on the couch, and leafed through a magazine. After I'd picked up, I went and sat on the couch with him. "So Simon, can you tell me why you were living in the baseball dugout?" I asked. He was quiet a minute, but then said, "I didn't know what else to do. I couldn't stay at home anymore, and I didn't know where to go. At least it was dry." "How come you couldn't stay at home?" I asked. "I just couldn't," Simon said. "Can you tell me why?" I asked. "I-I'd rather not talk about it. Just PLEASE don't let them send me back there!" he said, looking up at me fearfully. "I doubt that's what they have in mind, but I'll do what I can," I said. Just then the doorbell rang. A look of terror filled Simon's eyes. "It'll be OK," I said, squeezing his shoulder, as I got up to answer the door. It was Officer Hankel. Tom and a lady I didn't know were with him. I told them to come in. "Hi Simon," Officer Hankel said, smiling. Simon stared fearfully at them, unable to answer. "Everything will be OK Simon," Tom said. "This is Mrs. Riley, she's from Social Services, and she's here to help you." Mrs. Riley smiled and said "Hello Simon, Mr. McGrath's right, I'm here to help." Simon was trembling, as he sat silently looking at the three of them. "Why don't we all sit down," I said, walking over and sitting down next to Simon again. "Relax," I said, giving Simon's shoulder a squeeze. He looked up at me, blinking back tears. I looked into his eyes and whispered, "It'll be alright, really!" "Simon, why don't you start by telling us why you left home," Mrs. Riley said. Simon looked at me. His eyes watered, then he looked at the floor and said "I don't want to talk about that." After an awkward pause, Tom cleared his throat and said more to Mrs. Riley than to the rest of us, "From what I saw, the living conditions at Simon's house were NOT conducive for a child to be living there." "Can you elaborate on that Simon?" Mrs. Riley said. "I CAN'T GO BACK THERE! YOU CAN'T MAKE ME! IF YOU DO, I'LL JUST LEAVE AGAIN!" Simon shouted, looking up at her, his watery eyes blazing. "I see," said Mrs. Riley, calmly. "OK Simon, I guess we'll have to find someplace else for you to live then. We'll have to find you a nice foster family. Unfortunately, there aren't any available at the moment. Until we can find one for you, you can come and live at our home. It's not bad there, and there are a few other boys there too. Maybe you can become friends with them." Simon looked up at me with a look of terror on his face, as a tear rolled down his cheek. I felt awful for him. "Mrs. Riley," I said, looking at her, "would it be possible for Simon to stay with me? I'm one of his teachers, and we get along pretty well, and I have a spare bedroom." Mrs. Riley looked over the top of her glasses at me for a moment. Before she could reply, Simon burst out "PLEASE Mrs. Riley! I'd really rather live with Greg! Please say I can stay with him!" Tom looked at me searchingly for a moment, but then said "I'll vouch for Greg, if that'll help. I think he'd be an excellent foster father for Simon. Also, having hired him recently, I've had the opportunity to do background and criminal checks on him, and he checked out just fine." Mrs. Riley smiled, then looked at Officer Hankel. "Care to add your two cents worth, Officer?" she asked smiling at him. Officer Hankel smiled and said, "I agree with Tom, I think that if Greg is willing to take the boy in, and Simon wants to live with Greg, that it would be the best possible situation for Simon, and the least disruptive to his life. He'll be safe, well cared for, and can continue attending the school he's currently in." Mrs. Riley looked at me and said, "Are you telling me that you'd like to apply to become Simon's official foster parent? You want the boy to move in with you permanently?" I was a little taken aback. That hadn't been what I was thinking. I had really just been offering to take Simon temporarily until a foster home could be located for him. Suddenly I was faced with the possibility of having a teenage boy move in with me permanently. I just sat looking blankly at Mrs. Riley for a minute. As I sat there with those thoughts swirling through my mind, I suddenly realized that Simon was looking up at me hopefully. Just as I realized this, he was realizing that I hadn't answered right away, and that that I hadn't been offering to have him move in permanently. He looked down at the floor, and his shoulders began shaking. I felt awful, like I'd just kicked the boy in the stomach. It was then that I realized I had no choice. Simon needed a foster parent, and I was the person he wanted. I also realized that if I didn't help him, I'd never be able to live with myself. Besides, I realized that I really did have a tender spot in my heart for him. "Hey," I said quietly, looking down at him, and giving his shoulder a squeeze, "Don't cry Simon! I do want you! Very much!" "You d-do?" he said, looking up at me, snuffling, and wiping his tears. "Yeah! I really do!" I said, smiling broadly at him. Simon sat up then, rubbing his face with the backs of his hands. "You mean it?" he asked, looking at me. "Yeah!" I said grinning at him. Simon smiled then, as I pulled him toward me and wrapped my arms around him. "Thank you Greg!" he said, hugging me tightly. "Thank you so much!" As Simon and I sat hugging each other, I looked at Mrs. Riley and said, "Yes Mrs. Riley, that's correct. I want to be Simon's foster father." "You realize you'd become fully responsible for all aspects of Simon's care?" Mrs. Riley said. "Yes Maam, that won't be a problem," I said, smiling. Tom gave me a funny look, but after I smiled at him, he too broke into a smile. Officer Hankel was grinning as well. "Well, in that case," said Mrs. Riley, "you've made my job a lot easier! You'll have to fill out some paperwork, and I will have to run my own background and criminal checks on you. I'm sure they'll come back OK though. Normally we can't let a child stay with someone for whom these checks haven't been completed, but since you're a teacher, and the principal who hired you says that you've recently checked out OK, and the police agree, I see no reason that Simon can't just stay here with you starting immediately." I felt Simon squeezing me harder, and he'd started shaking. Looking down at him, as I realized he was crying. I hugged him tightly and kissed him on the top of his head and said quietly, "It's OK Simon. You're going to be OK now. You'll be living with me!" Simon shook even harder, as he buried his face deeper into my armpit and sobbed. I looked over at Tom and Officer Hankel and smiled. I noticed then that they both were rubbing their eyes, and Mrs. Riley had taken out a kleenex and was dabbing her's as well. Eventually, Simon stopped crying and looked up at me. "Why do you want me?" he asked pitifully. Looking down at him, I smiled and said, "because I think you're a really great guy, and you deserve to have a nice life! And I want to be the person who makes sure you get that!" Tears welled in his eyes again, as I hugged him, and kissed him on the forehead. "This is so beautiful," Mrs. Riley said quietly, as she wiped her eyes with her kleenex. Tom and Office Hankel were both wiping their eyes again as well. "So I have some paperwork to fill out?" I asked, looking at Mrs. Riley, hoping to lighten the mood a little. "Yes," she said, still sniffling a little. She dug around in her brief case a minute and pulled out some papers. "Here, you need to fill these out," she said, handing me a packet of forms. I took the papers from her, then gently, I extricated myself from Simon's hug, and chuckling, I said "Ya gotta let go of me so I can fill these out Simon, or it might not happen." Simon let me go of me and grinned. I took the papers and went and sat at the dining room table. It took me about 15 minutes to fill out all the papers. Simon, Mrs. Riley, Tom, and Officer Hankel talked quietly while I worked on them. I heard snatches of their conversation, and it revolved mostly around how lucky Simon was, and what a great foster father they all thought I'd be. Eventually, I finished all the forms. Tom and Officer Hankel signed as references for me, then Mrs. Riley carefully read through everything. Eventually Mrs. Riley looked up and said that everything looked to be in order, and that she could approve me as a foster parent, pending the results of my background and criminal checks. Based on recommendations from the high school principal and the high school police officer, she said she could leave Simon in my care already. She told me that she'd get copies of all the forms, with the appropriate approval signatures on them to me within the next day or two. She also said she'd expedite the background and criminal checks and get back to us about finalizing things as soon as the results were in. She excused herself then, saying she wanted to go back to the office and submit the papers immediately. Officer Hankel said that he'd be going too, and would walk Mrs. Riley out to her car. We all stood up, and Simon graciously thanked them both before they left, which impressed Mrs. Riley very much. She told him she thought he was a fine young man, and she wished him well. She and Officer Hankel left then. Tom smiled at us, and said, "Well, I think I should get going too, so you guys can have a little time to get settled in together." "Thanks for everything Tom," I said. "Yeah, thanks Mr. McGrath," Simon said, smiling at him. As I walked Tom to the door, he whispered to me "not exactly as you planned eh?" "Not really... but I think it worked out great," I whispered, smiling at him. "Well, as long as you're happy with the outcome, and Simon is too, that's what counts," he said softly. I gave Tom a hug then and said "Yeah. I think it's all gonna work out great! Thanks again Tom, for everything!" "Kinda puts a damper on 'us' though," Tom whispered, looking ruefully at me. Before I could reply, he whispered, "I'm sorry Greg, that was an awful thing for me to say." I grinned and said, "Not really, I was thinking the same thing, but I promise - we'll work something out. You're important to me too," I said smiling. He grinned at me then, and turned toward the door. "Bye Mr. McGrath. Thank you," Simon called to him. "Good-bye Simon, and you're welcome! I'm glad things have worked out for you," Tom said. Tom left then, and Simon and I were alone. * * * Simon looked at me questioningly, as I walked back to the couch. "So were you telling the truth when you said you wanted me? Or not? Cause I can leave if you want me to," he said. I looked down and smiled at Simon and said, "Simon, I don't lie! When I said I wanted you, I meant it! You need to be honest with me though. Do you really want to live with me? Because if you don't want to, I can call Mrs. Riley and cancel things. I really do want you with me Simon! But I need to know - Do you want to be with me?" Simon sat looking at me a moment, then he smiled and his eyes got watery. He said, "Yes Greg. I really do!" I grinned and said, "OK. Well, there'll be a few house rules. We can discuss them later. But Simon, there's one important thing I need you to promise me. You have to promise me that you'll NEVER just leave! What I mean is, that if you have a problem with something, you won't run away from me. You'll stay and talk with me, and together, we'll work it out. Can you promise me that?" Simon smiled and said "I promise." I grinned and said, "OK! Well, I'm gonna promise you something too. I promise you that there will never be a reason you'll feel like you can't stay with me! Your home is with me now! You're going to be living with me until you're an adult. You can stay even after you're grown up too if you want. That'll be your choice at that point. Now, here's my promise to you. As long as you're living with me, and even after you move out someday and are out on your own, I promise to take good care of you! I promise to protect you and guide you, and to always be there for you if you need or want me. I promise I'll never knowingly do anything to hurt you! I promise to keep you safe, and as healthy as possible. And Finally, I promise to help you to be as happy as possible. I care about you a lot Simon! So, do you still want to live with me?" Simon smiled as I finished speaking, and his eyes glistened with tears as he said "More than I've ever wanted anything else in the world!" I leaned over and wrapped my arms around Simon, and we hugged and held each other for a minute or so. Finally, I broke our hug and said, "C'mon, I want to show you something." We got up and Simon followed me down to the end of the hall, to the spare bedroom. "This is gonna be your room!" I said. "I know it's a mess now, but I always just used it to stuff my excess things in. Anyway - it's your's. Tomorrow, I'll pull my stuff out, and we'll go shopping for furniture and drapes and anything else you think you'll need to fix it up. We can get you some more clothes and anything else you might need or want too." Simon just stood looking around the room. Finally, he turned to me and said "I can't believe this is happening to me. I can't believe you're being so nice to me!" "This is the way things are supposed to go Simon. You've had a really raw deal. I promise, I'll try to make it up to you," I said. A tear rolled down Simon's cheeks again, as he looked up at me and said, "But it's not your fault. You don't have to make anything up to me. All you've ever been is nice to me!" I wrapped my arms around Simon and said, "This is the way parents are supposed to behave with their kids Simon. Another thing I'll promise you is that now that I'm your foster parent, I'll treat you as if you were my own son! You'll finally discover how a parent/son relationship is supposed to be!" Simon squeezed me tightly then and wept again, while I stood holding him. * * * We went to bed early that evening. I slept on the couch and let Simon have my bed, although he protested that I shouldn't be giving up my bed. I grinned and told him it was OK, that I usually fell asleep on the couch all the time anyway, and besides, after sleeping on the dugout floor for so long, I wanted him to sleep in a bed all the time from now on. Finally, Simon acquiesced, and got ready for bed. When he appeared in the livingroom to say good-night, I chuckled. He was still wearing the pair of briefs I'd loaned him, but they were falling off him, and he had to keep holding them up. "You can just sleep naked if you think you'd be more comfortable. That's how I usually sleep, myself," I said. Simon grinned then, and quickly stripped my briefs off right there in front of me. I chuckled as he stood before me stark naked for the second time that day. "Well, you coulda waited till you were getting into bed. Whatever! Good Night Bud. I'll be right out here on the couch if you need anything," I said. "OK, G'night, and thanks again for everything Greg," Simon said, smiling shyly at me. I winked at him, as he turned and padded down the hallway to my bedroom, his cute little ass cheeks wiggling up and down. I got done in the bathroom then, and went back to the couch. As I turned out the light, I contemplated leaving my pants on, but thought I would get more sleep if I was comfortable, so I stripped completely, and crawled between the blankets I'd spread on the couch. I laid awake a while thinking about the day's events, but eventually dozed off. I'd only been sleeping a couple hours when I heard Simon hollering from my bedroom. He was yelling "No!" over and over. Quickly I got up and ran to my room. I turned on the bedside light. Simon was asleep, but he was tossing and turning, and he was still yelling "No!" intermittently. I sat down on the edge of the bed and gently shook him awake. "Wh-what?" He groaned, sitting up. Then as he focused, he said "Oh Thank God! You're OK. Oh God what an awful dream!" I reached for Simon and pulled him over to me and held him. I rubbed his back, and asked him if he wanted to talk about it, but he said he didn't. I held him a few minutes, then said, "OK, how about you try to get back to sleep now." Simon laid back down, but looked upset, because I was going to leave. Finally, I smiled and said, "Do you want me to stay in here with you for a while yet?" Simon smiled then and scootched over to one side of the bed. Grinning, I stood up, forgetting I was completely naked. Simon's eyes got big, and riveted onto my dick when he he realized I was nude. "Uh, sorry," I said, blushing deeply. "It's OK," he said, trying to look only at my face. Try as he did, his eyes kept darting back down to my genitals though. "I'll get some briefs," I said. Simon turned crimson and said softly, "I'm sorry, it's just that you're so big. And, it's the first time I've seen you naked. That's all. You don't need underwear. I'm naked too. Remember?" I chuckled and said "uh, yeah, you are. Another reason I shouldn't be." "It's OK Greg! Really! Just get in," he said, pulling back the covers for me. I debated with myself about whether or not I should sleep naked with Simon. He kept looking insistently at me, so Finally, I gave up, turned out the light, and crawled in next to him. We laid quietly next to each other for awhile. Finally Simon said quietly, "Thanks Greg. I know I'm a lot of trouble for you." "You're no trouble. Go to sleep now," I said. A couple minutes went by, then I heard Simon whisper, "I love you Greg." My heart melted. "I love you too Simon," I said. I was surprised then, when Simon shyly turned onto his side, facing me, and snuggled up to me. Hesitantly, I wrapped my arm around him. He snuggled into the crook of my arm, pressing his naked body up against mine, draping one of his arms over my belly, and one of his legs over one of mine. Apparently finally feeling content, Simon soon fell back to sleep. I laid there a while, enjoying the feeling of having the naked boy cuddled up to me, nestled in my arms. His squishy genitals were pressed against my hip, and his warm breath caused my chest hairs to ruffle each time he gently exhaled. Eventually, I fell asleep myself. We both slept peacefully for the rest of the night, snuggled together. When I woke up in the morning, we were still laying in pretty much the same positions. I quickly became acutely aware though that Simon's breaths were coming faster and heavier than they were when he fell asleep, and that ever so gently, he was grinding his now hard penis into my hip. More alarmingly though, I realized that Simon also had his right hand wrapped around my hardon and he was massaging it in a masturbatory fashion! I couldn't tell if the boy was awake, or still sleeping, but I knew that I had to stop him soon, before I blew my load all over both of us... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next chapter in this series will be published shortly. Author's note: I'd like to let everyone reading this know that the boy who inspired this story is well, living at home again, and receiving free meals at school now. Let's all pray that things keep going well for him!
