This story is completely fiction and any resemblance to anyone living or dead is wholly coincidental. This story may not be published, or reprinted, without the express permission of the author Because of the three week break between my stories here is the final paragraph of the previous chapter "How long do you have to find a donor Doctor?" "I would say the situation would be getting dangerous by about midday tomorrow unless we find a donor or two. If we could find two, that would be ideal. Right now, you can go up to intensive care to sit with him although he won't be awake, but we must also be ready to face the fact that if he makes it through the night, without more blood I'm sorry but tomorrow it will be touch and go. Before they went upstairs to intensive care, they phoned the hotel to tell them what was happening. When that was done they entered Davey's room which was in semi-darkness and both were shocked to see a very pale frail young man lying there surrounded by machines and with tubes coming out of his body everywhere. Gloria couldn't handle it bursting into tears at the sight of her new son lying there dying. Both of them knelt down at his bedside and while they weren't regular churchgoers they prayed together asking God to spare them this poor young man who they have grown to love in such a short space of time. They also prayed that a blood donor would be found quickly so their son could be saved. Now read on. Both Gloria and Andy spent the night at Davey's bedside. Not that they could do much, just watch and pray. Nurses and staff were in and out all night long checking on his condition. The following day was a Sunday, but Doctor Whitmore was in to see Davey before he went home for breakfast. "That was a traumatic operation and while Davey urgently needs more work done on him I'd like to give his body a chance to recover from one trauma before he had another one. He is so weak and has lost and is still losing a lot of blood." Gloria and Andy thanked him for all he was doing and just as he was leaving, he told them he would be back in a couple of more times today and planned another operation tomorrow, Monday. Both of them were exhausted so they went home for a while to rest and also bring the rest of the family and friends up to speed. They returned later to the hospital to spend another night at Davey's bedside. Next morning he was still in an induced coma and had never moved or batted an eyelid all night. Every time the nurses changed his dressings, they were soaked in blood. It was just getting light when a nurse shook Gloria awake to tell her there was a phone call for her. She went out to the nurses' station to take the call it was Jacob. "How is Davey?" He asked. "No change, he is still in a coma and bleeding, unless a donor is found soon we will lose him." Gloria began to cry and Jacob tried to pacify here down the phone but it didn't work. "Don't worry tell Dr Whitmore that we'll find a donor somewhere in El Paso." He hung up and Gloria went back to the room. Dr Whitmore came in a little while later to examine Davey and his face was pretty grim when he had finished. "Gloria, Andy, we desperately need some more blood for him ready to go because I will have to go back in and do some more repair work which is going to take more blood than ever." Gloria told him what Jacob had said and he noted that if anyone can work miracles' Jacob can. Before he went, he left instructions that as soon as a donor was found to prep Davey for surgery. Just as he was leaving he turned deciding to put Gloria and Andy more fully in the picture. "Knowing Jacob I'm sure he'll come through with a donor. The thing is last night there was a road accident and the driver of one vehicle was badly injured requiring a lot of blood and unfortunately he is the same blood group as Davey so we are desperate for donors." Breakfast back at the hotel was a sad affair with everyone thinking of Davey. Before he left for school Jacob was going to call a couple of radio stations to see if they would put a call out for a donor or better still donors. He was just about to pick up the phone when Mrs Walker and her son Johnny walked in. "Jacob there's no need to call anyone, my Johnny's blood type is A- and I have already called his father in Austin and we are happy to give our permission for the doctor to take Johnny's blood." The others sitting around the breakfast table who heard the news let out a cheer, while Jacob instead of calling the radio stations was now calling the hospital. As soon as arrangements were made, Johnny was heading with his mother for the hospital. When she heard the news, Gloria burst into tears before falling on her knees and offering up a prayer of thanks. The nurses moved an extra bed into the room for Johnny who would be lying next to Davey. Firstly he would give blood to go with Davey to the operating theatre and then would be there when Davey returned and if need be would be hooked up to the poor guy. Meanwhile Johnny would be receiving plenty of nutritious food and fruit juices stuff like that so that he didn't get anaemic from all that blood leaving his body. Johnny hadn't said much at all since his mother arranged for him to give blood but secretly he was thrilled and happy that he could help his new friend who he was beginning to grow fond of. All last night he thought of poor Davey lying in his hospital bed and while he'd never said a prayer in his life before he too offered prayers in the hope that it would help, and he was happy that he did. Johnny kept thinking I do hope that we can become good friends and maybe in time who knows a bit more than that. Harold too had an unsettled night. Firstly, he thought about Garrett and although he is a nasty evil young man, Harold didn't want to keep him locked up any longer than he should be before his trial. He told Helen, "Keeping someone like that locked up won't help him become a better person so I'll have to look at granting him bail." "Just as long as he doesn't do anything stupid." Harold agreed with her, before heading off to work. Once he was in his office, he called Luke asking him to come and see him. Luke was already in the building so it didn't take him long to get to Harold's office. They sat down together over a cup of coffee and Harold told Luke about his fears regarding Garrett. "It looks to me as if the trial is going to be a long way off so bail looks like being the only option at this time." "There is one thing judge that I've just found out about." "And what's that?" "The district Attorney position is coming up very soon and the current District Attorney knowing that he is behind the eight ball regarding being voted back in to the position, has decided to step down early so he can mount a better campaign. This means that the assistant district attorney will be running the department until after the election and he is a good man, dedicated to the job. Not like the DA who is only interested in what he can do for himself." "That's good news Luke, I was going to delay the trial until a new DA was elected, but if that's what's happening we can speed things up a bit, but I'll still grant Garrett bail if his lawyer applies for it." They chatted some more before Harold donned his robes preparing for another long day in court. As he expected Garrett's lawyer was in court applying for bail on behalf of his client. Before he listened to him, the judge asked that Garrett be in court to hear the application and Harold's decision. While Garrett was being escorted back to court, Davey was being prepared for his second operation in two days. Johnny was lying in a bed next to Davey, hooked up to a drip and a tube dripping his precious blood into a bottle so that there would be enough for Davey's forthcoming operation. Johnny looked across at Davey lying there perfectly still in an induced coma so that he doesn't move around because that will cause more bleeding. He had a feeling of sadness for his new found friend, he was deadly pale with so much padding on his rear end that his middle looked to be way up in the air. They were currently in the room on their own and Johnny looking across and whispered, "Dear Davey don't die, you have so much to live for now that we found you. You have new parents and a new family who will do anything to help you, along with the greatest group of friends you could wish for. Please stay alive so that your rebirth can be a long and happy one." He didn't realize while he was saying those words His mother along with Gloria, Andy and Dr Whitmore had come into the room. Even the hardened doctor had tears in his eyes when he heard those words coming from someone so young. "Don't worry Johnny I'll do the best I can to pull your friend through so that he can enjoy his new family and friends. Right now it's time for him to go down to surgery and I want you to rest and recover, you've already given more blood than you should and I expect we'll need to take some more when Davey comes back." "How long will the operation take sir?" "I hope it will be no longer than four hours. I have a lot of repair work to do because some of the damage is from a previous attack and should have been fixed back then but he didn't receive the medical attention he should have." Just then, a couple of attendants arrived to take Davey out to the elevator and then onto the operating theatre. Johnny's mother gave him a kiss and a cuddle before telling him to get some rest as the doctor suggested. "I love you Johnny Walker and you're very brave to do this." "It's alright mum I know you and even dad would have done the same if you could." She nodded as the three adults left the room leaving him to have a sleep and wait for his friend to return. After heavily drinking through Sunday night, Dr. Buchanan woke Monday morning with the worst hangover imaginable. She had fallen asleep on the couch crying for her son, Garrett. This was the first time in about fifteen years she had slept without her son lying beside her. Mind you, Garrett had been told by the prison guards to shut up when he was crying out for his mummy during the two nights he was in his cell. Their relationship was strange and while it was, a secret between them at the moment Dr. Buchanan was worried that it might very well become public knowledge before very long and that is something she doesn't want. "Oh my god if the world knew our little secret I would never be able to practise again and might even go to prison." She mumbled to herself, the phone ringing interrupted her thoughts. When she answered, it was her lawyer to tell her that her sons bail application was being heard in about an hours' time. "It's about time you gave me some fucking good news for once, where will it be heard?" "In Judge Harold Evans court, he's the judge handling all of you at the moment." "That bastard, my poor Garrett hasn't got a hope in hell of persuading that prick to let him out." "Actually from what I've heard it's quite possible your boy will get bail. It appears the Judge has had a change of heart." "That prick hasn't got a heart. I'll be there in an hour." Before leaving for the court Dr. Buchanan tried once more to contact her friend the DA and was shocked when his secretary told her that he was no longer in office but had stepped down so that he could campaign for his re-election. The secretary, speaking in a sweet syrupy voice told the doctor that she could speak with the assistant DA who was now in an acting DA position. "Go to fucking hell." She yelled at the phone before slamming it down. She had no idea what to do next because all her so-called friends had deserted her. She staggered to the bathroom for a shower before dressing and heading down to her car. She was just about to unlock the car door when she decided to take a cab after all she'd had a lot to drink over the last day or so, and was more than likely still drunk and didn't want that to give that Judge another opportunity to nail her, this time for driving under the influence. While all this was happening Sally was back at the hotel being accosted and abused by the local social worker. "What do you mean he's not here, were have you hidden him if you've got him hidden away somewhere, I'll make sure that you never work as a social worker ever again, you mark my words." "If you'd just shut up for a minute I'll tell you were he is and also explain why you can't take him away ever again." "What do you mean never take him away, I want him and I want him NOW, or I will call the police and have you arrested." All the shouting had brought a couple of security guys running to see what was going on. "Is this lady bothering you, Sally?" one of them asked. "No it's all right. She is just a little bit excitable that's all, but please hang around so you can show her out when I've finished talking." "How dare you treat me like this, how dare you. Just because you're a gay lover doesn't mean you can lord it over me. Just remember your way out of your jurisdiction and have no say in the running of the department in El Paso." "And I wouldn't want to with a bitch like you on the staff." Both of the security guard's grinned thinking that they might soon have to break up a cat fight, but Sally kept her cool backing off a bit and allowing her co-worker to calm down. "Now listen and listen to me good, don't interrupt me, just listen and you will find out everything you want to know about Davey. Firstly, he isn't here because last night he was rushed to Providence Hospital for emergency surgery due to severe bleeding from the damage he got when your Doctor Buchanan's son raped him along with four other boys. Might I add that if he dies your doctor friend her son and the rest of the gang of bullies will be charged with murder." Sally paused so that those words would have time to sink in. Margaret Jenkins, which was the social workers name, sneered at Sally saying, "It might be better if he was dead, one less faggot for the system to deal with." How Sally managed to control herself, she has no idea and looking at the security, she could see they too were finding it difficult to keep their cool with this woman. "I'll ignore that remark otherwise I might do something I'll regret, last night in front of Judge Harold Evans, Davey was formally adopted by Gloria and Andy Hernandez and is now officially out of the system. Don't worry it was all done legally and above board so you see your ranting and raving was all in vain." "Well that's the best news I've heard in weeks at least it gets another homo fag off my books." At that, she turned around storming out of the room. Stopping at the doorway, she turned around grinning. "I don't know if you've spoken to your boss lately but the word is that you no longer have a job in the department. You overstepped the line and you're out, Bitch." On those words, she left with security following her to make sure she left the building hopefully never to return. Sally went into the dining room to get a cup of strong coffee, which she badly needed. Helen joined her and Sally brought her up to date with what just happened. She'd just finished telling her story when her son Luke came in so she had to repeat everything all over again. "Oh mum I'm sorry that you've lost your job but I'm sure something will turn up." "I know son, but what am I going to do for money till something does turn up?" "I'm not short of money mum; I'll help you in the meantime." "You're a good boy Luke and thank you, hopefully it won't be for long." Helen had been sitting quietly listening to the conversation and smiling. "It's wonderful to see a mother and son getting on so well and Sally don't worry something will turn up soon." The bailiff called the court to order as Judge Harold Evans took his place in the courtroom. Standing before him was Garrett Buchanan and his lawyer and just as they were sitting down Garrett's mother came rushing in looking very much the worse for wear, or so Harold thought. She rushed up to sit next to her son and just as she sat down hugging her boy, the judge spoke. "Excuse me Doctor Buchanan but I don't need you before me today, but you are welcome to stay just as long as you sit in the public gallery." Turning all shades of red the doctor spluttering said, "But your honour I want to sit with my son, it's obvious after a night in that hell hole you call prison he needs his mother by his side." "While I sympathize with you both, until I see fit to grant bail, your son is still a prisoner of the state and is not allowed visitors so please remove yourself to the public gallery." Inwardly Harold was laughing, loving every minute he could make this mother and son squirm. Addressing Garrett's lawyer Harold said, "I believe you have an application for bail you wish to put before me?" "Yes your honour, we feel that Garrett Buchanan being only seventeen years old shouldn't be in prison waiting for his trial." "I agree." Said Harold, surprising the lawyer, Garratt and his mother. "It looks like the trial date may be some time off, the prosecution has requested time to prepare what is a complicated case and of course the young man who was so brutally assaulted is even now in hospital on the critical list, so the charges could still be changed to murder. I don't think any time right now in prison will serve any real purpose for this man standing before me, therefore I am prepared to grant bail but with strict conditions. Firstly, you will not be able to attend your old school El Paso high. Instead, you will go across town to the Alternative School, which I might add is almost like being in prison. You will be accommodated at the school and not allowed home." On those words, his mother stood up screaming, "No, I want my boy at home with me, what kind of bail is this when he can't come home to his mother?" "Doctor Buchanan, another outburst like that and you will be thrown out of my courtroom, these are your son's conditions of bail and he can either take them or leave them which means he will be escorted back to my special prison." "Your honour, we understand the bail conditions regarding the alternative school and will accept them." "At least someone has some sense here, it is possible, if he behaves himself that he just might be allowed to go home on weekends, therefore, another condition is that he has no contact whatsoever with any of his gang members, or any pupils who attend his old school, so he can't stay at any of the alleged gang members' homes, including his mother's." That last remark did what Harold thought it might, Garrett's mother erupted with a yell of fury screaming that she was no gang member, never was and never would be. Harold calmly sat there for a few seconds listening to her ravings before instructing his bailiffs to remove Doctor Buchanan from his courtroom and if she continues to scream to put her right out into the street and if she still continues then arrest her for public nuisance. It was difficult for anyone in the room to keep a straight face, Harold included. The poor bailiffs taking her outside couldn't wait for a quiet moment so they could get the laughter out of their systems. The lawyer brought the tone of the proceedings back to normal, "Thank you your honour for granting my client bail and I assure you he will abide by all the requirements you have stipulated." On those words Harold banged his gavel, everyone stood and he left the courtroom heading for his office and a good laugh along with his secretary. Over five hours had passed since Davey went into surgery and Dr Whitmore's prediction of four hours went right out the window. Somewhere during that time, two hospital staff came in to Johnny and gently without waking him; they had taken another couple of pints of blood from his arm. Meanwhile Gloria, Andy and Mrs Walker sat in a small waiting room getting more and more anxious by the minute. No one came by to tell them what was going on and as time went by, they began to fear the worst. Mrs Walker spoke up, "I can't stay cooped up here any longer I'm going back to see how my Johnny's going." As she started to walk out the other two joined her. Johnny was trying to wake up but was feeling dizzy and unable to sit up in bed, when his mother came in and saw this she called for the nurse, when the nurse walked in she explained to them that more blood was taken from him and that is why he is feeling faint. "I'll get you some fruit juice and change your empty drip bag for a full one, also would you like something to eat?" "Yes please nurse, I'm feeling very hungry and I want to go to the bathroom as well." Laughing the nurse said, "That's the drip that makes you want to pee all the time hang on and I'll get a male nurse to take you because I don't suppose you want a strange lady do you?" Johnny blushed shaking his head. The trouble was this gorgeous hunk of a male nurse barely out of his teens arrived to help Johnny. He got him out of bed holding him up with one hand while grabbing the trolley, which the drip was fixed to with the other hand, slowly they headed for the bathroom. "Would you prefer to stand up or sit down to pee?" The nurse whose name was Greg asked. Before Johnny could answer he said, "I think it might be better if you sat down." Although he didn't like the idea of doing it like a girl does he was feeling so weak and dizzy he thought if he stood up, Greg might have to help him and he was sure he would disgrace himself and get an erection." The thought of that coupled with being a bit lightheaded caused Johnny to start giggling, even when he was sat down he still giggled like a little girl. Greg wanted to know what brought on the giggles and Johnny thought I can't tell him it would be embarrassing. "Come on you can tell me." Said Greg with a grin. Felling very brave and not caring too much about what he said or did, Johnny said, "I was thinking that if you helped me I'd get hard and then wouldn't be able to piss." Greg also laughed when he found out what Johnny was giggling about, "Don't worry I've seen a lot of fat hard cocks in my time and it doesn't worry me." Johnny got serious for a minute and said, "Are you gay Greg?" "Whoa young fellow that's quite a question and what if I say I am?" "I'd tell you I was as well." "That's all well and good but your way too young for me, even if you are cute." Johnny thought for a minute still sitting on the John, "Did I really say what I did say just then?" "Yes, and don't worry about it, I promise it will never be repeated. Light-headedness makes you say all sorts of things because your brain isn't working too well, and if you'd been closer to my age I just might have arranged to meet you when you came out of hospital, but never mind." He sighed before helping Johnny back into his bed. It was another hour before Davey was brought back into his room; He was still out to the world and a deathly white. Gloria thinking he was dead or almost dead began to freak out, but Doctor Whitmore arrived in time to assure her that all things considered, the operation went well. "I'm sorry I kept you waiting longer than I said but every time we fixed one leak we discovered another, some of them very tricky. We will be slowly be bringing him round but it will be about twenty four hours until he is fully conscious. The main thing now is rest and plenty of it; it's going to be a long slow process rehabilitating him. I'm not sure right now but when we get him onto solid food we may have to go back in and by pass his anus until it has healed properly. It's a case of wait and see for now. I have never come across anyone with so much damage so we are playing it by ear." "Thank you Doctor for everything you are doing for our new son." "I had a call from a lady called Sally and she gave me an insight into Davey's past life and the poor kid deserves a break. Now how's young Johnny doing?" He moved over to Johnny checking his chart and generally looking him over. Feeling a bit dizzy are we?" "I was sir but I'm feeling much better now." "We'll get some good food into you, well as good as hospital food can be." He answered laughing. "I'd better be on my rounds. I'll call into see him in a couple of hours, by then he should be beginning to come round." Once again, for those assembled at the hospital it was a waiting game. Carlos found that his classes went by very slow. He wanted to get away from the school as soon as he can to go see Davey, but he kept looking at his watch and was sure it had stopped. His teacher took a phone call and when she had finished he was called up to the front of the class. He wondered what an earth was going on he then went a deadly white, thinking that something really bad had happened to Davey. "Principal Michaels wants to see you, here's your pass report to his office straight away. Carlos had a feeling in the pit of his stomach that Davey had died. He thought to himself I hope my feelings are wrong, but if he has gone I'll make it my job to send Garrett to join him, no that wouldn't happen because Davey would go one way which is up while Garrett would definitely go down to rot in hell. All these thoughts were going through his head as he went into the principal's reception area. His secretary greeted him with a smile telling him he wouldn't be long and to take a seat. No sooner had he sat down when Principal Michaels opened his office door inviting Carlos in. "Sit down please Carlos and don't look so worried, its nothing bad. First of all, I have never thanked you properly for saving my life when Garrett Buchanan tried to stab me. That was a very brave and courageous act and I will never forget what you did for me. Thank you very much." He stood up extending his hand towards Carlos. Feeling embarrassed he accepted the handshake mumbling that it was really nothing. "It may have been nothing to you young man but to me and my family it meant a lot. The other reason I called you in was to ask if there had been any word about Davey Carson." "Well, for a start sir he is no longer Carson. Last night in front of Judge Evans, he was formerly adopted by Jacob's parents. So when he returns to school he will be Hernandez." "Thanks excellent news and what about his operation did they find a donor for him?" Carlos told him about Johnny Walker Jnr. Being the same blood group but he had no idea what was happening at the hospital. "Well in that case, what say we call the hospital now and find out?" Carlos was having a problem with someone in authority talking to him on the same level instead of down to him. This was something new and he wasn't used to it. All through his life, anyone with some power or standing in the community would treat him like a piece of doggy doo. The principal called the hospital and got Andy senior on the phone, who brought them up to date with what was happening. The phone was on speaker so both of them heard the news at the same time, and what they heard was better than before. Carlos stood up to go once the phone had been hung up but Principal Michaels stopped him, "There is another piece of information which I will pass on and perhaps you can pass it on to the rest of your friends. Garrett Buchanan is out on bail, but he is forbidden to come anywhere near the school or to communicate with you guys and even his old gang. He is being sent to the Alternative school way over on the other side of town. Hopefully he will obey the conditions of his bail and stay away, but I don't trust him so please be careful." The news surprised Carlos because he really believed the judge would keep him locked up. By the time, he left the principal's office the bell rang for lunch so he headed to the canteen to meet Kimberly and also pass on all the news to others who eat at the same table. Meanwhile the District Attorney officially stepped down, leaving the Assistant DA in charge. Luke was sitting in his office talking about Davey's case. The assistant district attorney, whose name was Franklin Bombalass, after hearing from Luke all that had happened to Davey, was disgusted, "The Buchanan woman and her son along with his cohorts are bad news and we will throw the book at them, but I also wish I could nail that social worker as well. She started this by asking the doctor to `straighten' Davey out because he was gay. Good lord, which cave did she crawl out of?" "I don't know what we can get her on Franklin." Both were quite for a while thinking but neither could come up with an answer. "I'll talk to Judge Evans tonight; see if he can think of anything." "There's a rumour going around the office here that Doctor Buchanan has been sleeping with her son every night since he was about four and her husband shot through. It would be the icing on the cake if we could prove something was going on and charge her with incest as well." Both of them agreed that would be a great achievement if it could be proved. Anyway, they continued sorting out the evidence and checking witness statements getting their case ready for trial. Garrett had no idea what this new school was about having never heard of it before. Right now, he was in a prison van being transported right across town to this school. The van rolled into the yard and as the door opened, he was greeted by two men, who looked very much like the same sort of guards who have been looking after him in the new secure prison. "I thought I was being released on bail but this place is still a prison, what the fuck am I doing here. What the fuck's happening?" "This is a school for bad boys son, where you'll hopefully learn a trade and make something of yourself. If you work hard and behave yourself you earn points and once you have accumulated enough points we might let you go home for a weekend, or you can lose points for swearing in front of a teacher or guard. So at the moment you are in the negative points wise for those two swear words we heard you utter." "Go fuck yourself." "Three points, want to try for four?" Garrett kept is mouth shut as he was taken into a room where he had to strip, shower and get into a special school uniform before being taken to a dormitory with ten beds in it. "This is where you'll sleep and live from now on. Because it's almost knocking off time you can take it easy for the rest of today and start classes at eight am sharp tomorrow." Firstly, Garrett didn't like the idea of sleeping with nine other guys. He wanted to be back in his mother's nice warm comfortable bed snuggling up to her, letting her caress him, making him feel good all over. He got hard thinking of that and hoped that no one came in until it had gone down. It was beginning to get dark outside Providence hospital when Davey slowly regained consciousness. A tube currently connected Johnny to him, because he had some more bleeding this afternoon. Doctor Whitmore had been summoned and after checking his wounds, he decided to give him more blood even though the bleeding was slowly easing. "I hope you don't mind Johnny but I'd like you to stay in hospital for tonight just in case we need to top Davey up. Is that alright?" "I'll stay with Davey as long as I'm needed doctor." Doctor Whitmore then suggested that the three adults head off home to get some rest, assuring them the boys will be in good hands, and if anything happens, the staff will call them straight away. It was with some reluctance that Gloria, Andy and Peggy Walker left the two boys alone. Once everyone had gone, Johnny laid there looking across at Davey who was still very pale and barely moving. He reached across to hold Davey's hand; tears began to roll down his face. "Please get better Davey, I want you to be my friend, after all we're blood brothers now." He whispered. He got the shock of his life when this very thin quite voice said, "I'll be your friend Johnny and thank you for the blood, which I suppose does make us blood brothers." Poor Johnny at the sound of Davey's very weak pitiful voice began to cry like a baby. In fact, he'd never cried like this since he was a baby. His father being ex-army had brought him up to be tough, to be a man, and men don't cry. "Please don't cry Johnny, I want you to be my friend and be strong for me. Help me until I'm strong enough to be able to help you." They were both quite for a while thinking and not talking but still holding hands. "Davey?" "Yes Johnny." "In time do you think we can become boyfriends?" Another long pause while Davey gathered his thoughts. He was finding it a bit of an effort to talk, because apart from tubes coming out of his penis and anus he also had one up his nose making it difficult for him to talk anyway, plus he wasn't fully awake yet. "I'd be no good to you as a boyfriend Johnny, at least not for a long time and maybe never." "That's all right we could be boyfriends with no strings attached, you know, we don't have to do anything except maybe cuddle each other for support now and then." Another pause followed and Johnny thought he might have upset Davey by going too far too quick, but no eventually, he got an answer. "Yes, I'll be your boyfriend but please don't get angry if I take a long time accepting the fact and allow you to get close to me. I have been hurt so many times in the past in fact every time I thought things were going well in that department I was shot down in flames." "Don't worry Davey I will never hurt you or do anything to harm or upset you and let's face it right now we could both do with some friendship from someone of our own age." Silence once again while the nurses came in to check on Davey's progress. They disconnected the tube that was joining them together. When they had left Davey spoke first. "Thank you Johnny for giving me your blood and saving my life. I couldn't hear everything that was said but through the haze I caught the odd word and I know without you I would be dead right now. Thank you Johnny. Now if you don't mind I'd like to go back to sleep for a while." "Ok Davey, I'll be here when you wake up again." But Davey didn't hear him he was already asleep. Earlier that afternoon Sally had phoned her old boss to find out if she really was out of a job. "Tom Dickerson speaking." "Hi Tom it's Sally here, just checking in to find out if I still have a job to come back to. The bitch here in El Paso, apart from being very rude and obnoxious, told me I was fired, is this true?" There was silence on the end of the line as Tom got his words together to let Sally down as carefully as he can, "Yes Sally there's no other way to tell you but I had no option. The El Paso office sent a damming report into head office accusing you of all sorts of things including interfering with the running of their office. The order came down from on high terminating your position with the department. I'm truly sorry Sally, you were the most caring and hardest working officer I ever had the pleasure of working with but it was taken out of my hands." "Oh well never mind I'm sure something will turn up and it looks like Luke my son will be in El Paso for a while anyway so I'll stay here and keep him company." She paused wondering if she dared to ask her old boss for a big favour. "There is one thing you could do for me if you don't mind Tom." "If I can help you out I will, and of course I will make sure you get the best reference possible for any future job opportunities." "Thanks Tom, you were a great guy to work for. I've been thinking, considering everything Davey as been through along with the fact that he was a ward of the state, is he entitled to any sort of pension?" "It's possible, but what do you mean was a ward of the state?" "Oh sorry, I forgot to mention he was adopted a couple of nights ago by a wonderful family here in El Paso who I know will take very good care of him." She also brought her ex-boss up to date with everything else that happened to Davey including the operations he had along with the rare blood group." "That poor boy, he's suffered so much in his short life, I hope things start to improve from now on." "I'm sure they will. If you had met all the great people who are helping him and becoming his friends you would understand that Davey's luck appears to be changing." "With regards to the pension, I'll check it out but I'm sure he is entitled to it. In fact, he should have been getting it years ago, so I will also check and see if I can get it backdated. If I can he should be receiving a pretty big sum of money." "That's great news Tom thank you for your help, and I'll arrange for his new parents to open a bank account for him." "Leave it with me and I'll get back to you soon." Before hanging up Sally gave Tom her phone number and address. She then went looking for Gloria and Andy, learning that they were still at the hospital. Just as she was getting ready to leave her phone rang and it was her ex-boss Tom, "I have some good news Sally, and some not so good news. The good news is Davey is entitled to a pension that can also be backdated. The not so good news is that we require copies of his parent's death certificates." "Thanks Tom, if you go into my filing system in the office you will find on file a copy of his mother's death certificate. That came into my possession a few years ago, but his father's may be a bit more difficult because he disappeared when Davey was born. As you know he was abandoned at birth and his father details are sketchy to say the least." "That's a pity but we might be able to get around that. Do you have a copy of his birth certificate in your files?" "Yes I have it with me and will fax a copy off to you right away. It lists the name of his father but no other details about him so maybe his mother just put a name in there without knowing who the father was. I know that's a terrible thing to say but it does happen and quite often." "On the strength of that information I don't think we'll have any problems getting Davey a pension so get the bank account opened and send me the details." "Thanks Tom you've been a great help and I'll love you for ever." "That's great just don't tell my wife." They both had a good laugh over that last remark. Tom and Sally had worked together for many years and had proved to be a good team. "I was just about to head off to talk to his new parents and they'll be thrilled with the news. As soon as the account is opened, the details will be sent to you. Tom I can't thank you enough for your help with this." He went on to tell her it was no problem and if she wanted any help in the future to just contact him. She headed out to her car to join them at the hospital. She'd just parked her car and was walking into reception when Gloria, Andy and Peggy Walker were coming out. "Hello, I was just coming to see you three, how's Davey and Johnny doing?" They told her everything that Doctor Whitmore had told them, explaining that they were heading to the hotel to have a rest. "Would you like to have a cup of coffee with me before heading home, I have a couple of things I want to run past you, and I also have some good news regarding Davey. They went back into the hospital cafeteria ordered coffee and sat down. Sally then went on to explain all about the pension, including the fact that it was being backdated. They were delighted at the news. "We'll call in at the bank on the way home and open an account for him straight away." Gloria said. Tears began to form in her eyes as she continued. "It looks like the tide has turned for our new son and it's about time, he's a wonderful boy and we both love him so very much. I think at first I only took to him because I felt sorry for him but I realize now that I love him just as much as I do my other children." Andy Senior agreed with her taking hold of her hand and both Sally and Peggy realized that the love these two had so many years before had been rekindled. Peggy spoke up for the first time. "Have you two noticed that a bond appears to be forming between Davey and my son? While nothing has been said between them I can certainly see the love my Johnny has for Davey. Even before he was rushed to hospital last night, Johnny never stopped talking about him. They will be support for each other and hopefully will be able to help each other." The others looked puzzled wondering what support Johnny might need, after all he was a fine healthy young man. "Because we have just arrived in El Paso and his father is in Austin, Johnny is having trouble adjusting to his new life and I think Davey will help him in that area, and I'm sure my boy will help him, also the fact that they are both gay will strengthen their relationship of that I'm sure." That last statement shocked the other three sitting there because they had no idea Johnny Walker junior was gay. They finished their coffee, before going their separate ways. Gloria and Andy to the bank, Peggy Walker back to the hotel to help Francesca, while Sally went to see her son Luke. As dusk turned into night, Garrett got himself ready for bed surrounded by nine other guys of different sizes shapes and ethnic backgrounds. At dinnertime, he had sat alone with no one talking to him or paying him any attention. He fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow and must have been asleep for a couple of hours before he was awakened with someone hitting into him. He woke to find half a dozen guys standing over him, he noticed that the one who had been doing the hitting was a big built African American six foot three high and almost the same wide. "So the poor little boy cries in his sleep for his mommy does he?" "I'm sorry guys, I didn't mean to wake you all up, it was just a bad dream, I won't let it happen again." Gone was the tough bully attitude that Garrett had when surrounded by his own gang at El Paso high, it was replaced by a wimpy snivelling kid who was almost peeing his pants at the site of these guys surrounding him. "Well if you're your missing your mom so bad maybe I can help you out." "In err, in what way." He nervously asked. "You can be my BITCH." To be continued. WRITERS CORNER:- Well here's chapter four, I've survived this far and a lot more plots are opening up which I hope you all approve of. Garrett first, he's really in the poo as far as his life is concerned and yes I know I left him in a cliff hanger. The real Villain in this story has got to be his mother. It looks like she has been sexually abusing her son for many years and I hope the authorities, either the acting DA or the state troopers will be able to charge her, convict her and sent her away for a long time. Maybe that is why Garrett is like he is. We are aware that his mother brainwashed him when it comes to homosexuals, and she has by the look of it kept him away from girls by satisfying his needs every night, and her own as well. She is one sick lady. Thanks to Johnny Walker Jnr. Davey looks like he is pulling through and there is a strong hint that a strong lasting relationship is forming. Carlos can't get over the fact that Principal Michaels is now on his side and will help him all he can during his school years. He's not used to authority being nice to him. It's finally official, Sally is out of a job, but I'm sure such a kind dedicated woman will find something very soon. I have to thank Jacob for doing some research and discovering that a pension would be available for Davey as an abandoned child. There will be a lot more on this later. Of course, Jacob will cover Gloria and Andy's nuptials in his story. There's a lot going on and I can't say much more without giving something away so don't forget to let us know how we're doing. My next posting will be Michael & Robert and be warned something terrible is going to happen. Hugs trevor@jacobmillertex.com EDITORS CORNER"- Well, well, well. Looks like Trevor went along with having Johnny provide the special type of blood Davey needed, just like many of you suggested. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the story line. I bet Davey and Johnny will develop a very loving, patient and long lasting relationship, at least that is what I hope for. Dr. Whitmore is certainly a miracle worker. I just love him, especially the way he keeps watch over his patients and provides not only the medical and surgical skills, but he also shows the intense love and compassion he has for his patients and their families. Well we now have two bitches in this story to hate, Dr. Buchanan and Margaret Jenkins, the local social worker. I just love the way they both are under close scrutiny. Hopefully they will both be charged, convicted and end up in prison for a long time. I was real pleased to see how positively Carlos is responding to Principal Michaels. Carlos really needs to learn to trust authority figures and I think Principal Michaels is the perfect person to fill this need in Carlos' life. We see that Garrett is really not so tough when he is alone. I wonder what the other students in the alternative school will do to Garrett as the story unfolds. Trevor gives us a clue in the last couple of lines in this chapter, but we will just have to wait for the next instalment in the life of Davey. Write to us and share your comments. We would love to hear from you. XOXOXOXOXOXO jack@jacobmillertex.com
