Date: Mon, 22 Apr 2013 17:15:57 -0700 (PDT) From: Mack Thomas Subject: Heartbroken (part 1) Life is truly an odd thing. Whenever you think that you've finally figured it out it changes once again. My name is matt valentine, I'm 16 & I'm a performer. I was born and raised in Boston Massachusetts. My mom is Hispanic, and my dad is black. I'm six foot two inches, and I have curly dreads that come down to my shoulders. I have had a rough life these last couple of years after coming out to my so called best friend Dylan. Dylan and I had been friends since birth literally. My dad is the vice president of his fathers computer company and our parents became very close. So close that they decided to have their children on the same day. Because of this we grew really close and by the time we entered grade school we where basically brothers, and if you saw one of us you where sure to see the other. By the time we entered middle school we where "running thangs" as Dylan liked to put it. We were very popular, very wealthy, and people wanted to be around us. This continued through our freshman, and half of our sophomore year. On new years day (our birthday) I told him I was bisexual, and to make a long story short he flipped right the fuck out. He cursed me out and caught me right across the face sending me to the ground in tears before he stormed off. The remaining months of my sophomore year were horrible, everyone hated me at school, my parents kicked me out, and I just felt like no one had my back. I was at rock bottom when I realized I needed to turn my life around. I started by blackmailing my parents into putting five thousand dollars a month, to support myself. It turns out that daddy dearest had forgotten that he'd told me all of the companies secrets hoping that I would follow in his footsteps one day. On average he made about a quarter of a million dollars a year so I figured that he could spare me sixty grand each year. I stayed friends with only one person who was always there for me. I also started getting in shape with dancing, running, and swimming. For the first time this year I've become happy. I stand in my bathroom naked, and examine myself. I have dark caramel skin, I have hazel eyes, more than full lips, I have a small space in my teeth. I look at my body and smile, I actually look good. I have only slight muscle, and to be honest my body is quite feminine. My legs are toned, and my back has an involuntary arch which makes my butt look really big. After admiring myself for awhile I get dressed, and walked into my kitchen. I took the time to admire my apartment it's a two bedroom, and its designed nicely, and its in a desirable part of town. I grab some orange juice and go into my room to get my earring, and necklace. I dress sort of like skater boy meets rich kid, and I love looking flashy. My favorite item is my necklace that's in the shape of a crescent moon. It is made of silver and has about a hundred little diamonds in it that shine bright in the sun. I finish my juice, and head out to the first day of my junior year. As I walk towards the school I pass some woods with a small trail leading deep in there, I follow the trail and end up at a river it is surrounded by green grass. I smile and grab my necklace thinking about all of the good memories, and I was awoken by my phone ringing. Since I only have one friend I knew who it was. 'Hey Christy.' 'Hey love, where are you?' Since last year I always made it a habit to pick her up at her house, and we'd walk to school together. 'I'm almost there, I just made a quick detour.' 'Ok see you soon, love ya!' And with that she hung up. I left my spot, a made my way to her house. I knocked once before it opened, and my jaw hit the floor. 'Cc.....Christy!' I stammered. She had always been attractive, but damn she looked like a playboy bunny. She had long strawberry blonde hair, piercing green eyes, her freckles were complemented her perfectly, and her body was perfectly shaped. When I took my eyes off of her newly developed breasts I saw she was stunned as well. I had forgotten I too made a transformation over the summer. I lost about sixty pounds, and like I said before I was attractive. 'Damn matt I thought you looked good before, but now you're hot! She said. After the shock of our transformations we headed off to school. The whole walk we talked about how are summers were until we came across the words Riverview high school. 'You scared.' She asked. 'nope.' 'Didn't think so.' Then we continued threw the double doors. We continued talking as we sat at our normal table, and stopped when we noticed everyone staring. This was not unusual as I was referred to as the school fag, and Christy as fag friendly, but this look was different. They looked shocked, and some were ogling. This was the first time I wasn't the chunky boy with a bad attitude, and she wasn't the lonely geeky girl. 'Seems like we have fans' she joked and I nodded. 'Want to give them a show?' she asked as we started a very hot make out session. This was not rare to us as we often hooked up, but this one was turned up a notch for show. Her lips were so soft that they almost contradicted the aggressiveness of her kiss. Se was a very dominant person, while I preferred to take the more passive rode. After we released all eyes where on us and we laughed. 'Wow the fag, and the cunt making out, now I've seen it all.' Devlin said. He's the school asshole if you couldn't figure that. He's been giving me shit since middle school, and it got worse last year when he found out I was by or 'half fag' as he called it. He always came to me when he wanted a good argument, because he knew I had a sharp tongue, and I wouldn't take shit from anyone. Whenever I crossed a line he would throw his weight around, even in my chunky days he had about a hundred pounds on me.(God knows how much now). He is like six foot six, about three hundred and fifty pounds of pure fat, pale skin, and a shaven head. 'You know devlin just looking at you makes me want to throw up' I spat. 'You see that nasty attitude of yours is the main reason you have a problem connecting with people.' 'hmm I connected well enough with your mother to fuck her, and if she pisses me off like you're doing I'll probably fuck you're daddy and make her watch.' (Told you I had a smart mouth.) This set him off and he charged me, but was withheld by his friends as I sat there with a blank expression. I knew that he could destroy, because I am not a fighter. I can't even imagine myself attempting to throw a punch. As they calmed him down I realized that Christy had jumped in front of me. She always had my back, and for that I loved her. After things had calmed down she sat down beside. 'Wow I see you still have a smart ass mouth.' She said chuckling. 'Yup.' I respond. 'Why did you just sit there?' 'Because I'm not a fighter, and do I look like I want to get my face fucked up? Noooooooooo!' I said very theatrically making her laugh. After we stopped laughing she looked behind me glaring at someone. I turned around to see who she was staring at, and I stared into piercing Blue eyes. when you look closely they have a glow to them. He had black hair, and full lips. He was very muscular.( As a fighter should be.) He stared at me with a look I couldn't comprehend, and honestly I didn't want to because I was staring into they eyes of the person who single handedly ruined my life. I was staring into the eyes Dylan sky.(fml). He was just staring at me, and not a stare of hate that he gave me last year which earned him quite a few middle fingers. This look was intense, and for the life of me I couldn't figure out how he was feeling. The bell rang which broke his spell on me as Christy and I quickly headed towards first period. 'Mr. Valentine?' My teacher called waking me from a good nap. 'ma'am' I respond. 'What is the answer for number 10?' (Now this bitch knew that I wasn't paying attention.) ' I don't know.' I say while playing with one of my dreads. Once I actually looked at the math equation I realized that I knew the answer, but I find my life a lot easier if I play dumb, and get passing scores on my tests. 'Maybe you'll get the answer if you pay attention' she said before going to the next student. Truth was that most of the teachers knew I was very intelligent, but refrained from calling me in class because they knew I would play dumb. The students actually buy my dumb act, and assume I cheat off of other students which I'm ok with them believing that. At the end of the day Christy and I were at our lockers putting our books away. To be honest I was a bit jealous of her locker location only because it was located by a wall making me her only locker neighbor. I on the other hand was forced to have someone else by me and as soon as I thought of this Dylan walked over and opened the locker right next to mine.(shit) 'Hey matt' he said. He was about three inches taller than me, which is surprising because I was always the taller one. Plus he was no longer the short and thin guy that I remembered. He was ripped, everything about him was masculine from the way he looked to the way that he carried himself. 'It's Matthew' I corrected. Only friends can call me matt, which basically means Christy and she calls me love. He smirked 'Guess I deserve that, can we ta...' 'You deserve a lot more than that!' Christy interrupted. Dylan seemed put off by this. Much like his father Dylan was not used to being disrespected, but he'd never crossed paths with Christy either. 'Would you mind your business?!' he said. 'E...excuse me, you don't know me I will cut you!' She said. I pulled her to the side. 'Christy calm down.' 'No I'm not scared of him he's only been a MMA fighter for a couple of months I can take him!' She yelled loud enough to make sure that he had heard her. 'Please just wait for me outside I can handle him.' 'Fine! But you better handle him, shit he almost made me reach in my purse' she said walking off.( I wonder what she has in there). I walked back up to Dylan. 'Wow you sure know how to pick them.' He said trying to relieve some tension. Normally I would have appreciated that, but I wasn't in the mood. 'What do you want Dylan?' 'I just wanted to see how you've been.' `I'm fine.' I said curtly and this seemed to make him wince a bit. Their was an awkward, well not really awkward, well not really awkward, more like annoying silence. `Is that it?' I ask. `No can you come over?' This earned him a laugh and eye roll. 'Seriously I miss you. We've known each other too long to end our friendship like this.' 'Goodbye Dylan' I said walking away, but he grabbed my arm. 'Don't you ever touch me' I said pulling away, actually he was much stronger than I was so he let me go. 'Can we just talk please?' Again he surprised me by asking. Like Christy he was always the more dominant, even when he was much smaller than I was. He always took my feelings into consideration but everyone knew that he led, while I followed. 'We just did' I said walking away. He just stared at me as I walked away from him. After school Christy came over to my house to study. She is the only person who knows about my situation with my parents. 'Don't you just love the attention we got today.' She asked. 'Absolutely especially after that kiss' 'Yeah, want to do it again?' She asked. She was always the more sexual one. We would satisfy our curiosities with each other though we've never had sex. After we broke from our kiss she said. 'You know this school year is looking up for us I've already been asked out twice, and made out with this girl in seventh period.' Christy didn't define herself in any sexual category she simply referred to herself as an "attention whore" 'Wow you were busy' She smiled and nodded. We spent some more time catching up, because we hadn't seen each other since the last school year. Her and her family flew south to Atlanta to visit some relatives. After a few hours I walked her home and came back to my apartment. Tuesday went by pretty normal until lunch where Dylan stopped Christy and I. He had been doing a great job of giving me my space up until this point. The lunch bell had just rang , and there weren't many students in the cafeteria. 'Matt this has been going on long enough.' he said. I didn't respond I just slowly slurped on my strawberry smoothie. He gave me a look of sincerity and I felt my defensive wall crumbling so I walked away. He grabbed my arm, and before I could think about my actions I threw the smoothie in his face. I heard the students gasp as I stormed out of the cafeteria. I felt my emotions getting the better of me as I fought tears back, and headed to the front doors of the school. I was so distraught that I didn't hear the rapid footsteps behind. Dylan grabbed my arms, and pulled me into an empty classroom. 'Dylan please leave me alone' I whispered exasperated. Honestly I was too emotionally drained to fight with him. 'Matt we've known each other since birth, we were inseparable for 16 years, how can you just throw that away?' This statement pissed me off. 'I didn't throw anything away, you did, I didn't do anything wrong, you did. The only mistake I made in our friendship was actually trusting you!' I said. 'Okay I made a mistake I admit it I was wrong, but we're even now.' This comment sent my walls crumbling as I finally told him truly how I felt. 'no that's not even close to us being even. Even would be coming out to your best friend, and having him turn his back on you. Then having him call your parents outing you to them. Then watch as your best friend stands up on a table, and outs you to the whole school. Then waits seven months to come back, and expects you to forgive him without even saying I'm sorry!' at this point my eyes were glazed over, and I had to blink rapidly to keep from crying. Dylan looked like his heart stopped beating as tears started falling from his face. 'Matt I'm so sorry for all of that, and I need you to forgive me' ' I forgive you' he raised his head up in surprise when he heard that. He approached me with his arms out for a hug which I accepted. 'I'm so glad you forgave me, but I will never forgive myself for doing all those things to you. Matt you are, and always will be my best friend' his words crushed me. I could literally feel my body tremble as I spoke. 'Dylan I truly forgive you, and I hope you can find it in you're heart to forgive yourself. With that being said I'm just not ready to be your friend again' I said. He released the hug, and stared at me while tears continued to fall. I could no longer stand there without crying so I left him in the classroom. The old matt valentine would've forgiven him, and move on, but he died on his 16 birthday.
