The rug rats not only didn't kill that S.O.B., but got caught as well. It's only going to be a matter of time where either they put together that the kids are part of our gang or they sweat them and they give it up. I was able to reach out to a homey that was in lock up and told him what was going on. He promised me he was going to reach out to them in County. Because they are juveniles, they won't be staying in County for too long. He is going to call me in a couple of hours and let me know the status. Almost five hours later, I got the call. "Hey homey, I have real bad news for you." "What is it? They ratted?" "Yes, they ratted on you and the whole plan. I won't be able to get my hands on them and speak with them. I don't even know if they are going to the dentition house or what. All I know is they have the police after you now." "Do you know if they have gotten to the mark yet?" "That I can't answer either, but be assured they want you now. So if they have not gotten to him yet, they will." "Thanks homey, if you hear anything else, you know what to do and how to get a hold of me." I hung up the phone, ran to my room and gathered some clothes. I shot right out of the house as quickly as I could and within a few minutes I was at another homey's house. He already knew what was up, and had no problem hiding me out. One thing I knew for sure was I needed to get to that kid and take care of him before he takes care of me. Now I have to find out where the numb nuts kids landed and take care of them too. (DAVID'S POINT OF VIEW) During sixth period, I got a note to head to the nurses office. The teacher excused me from class, so I headed off. When I was going down the hall, I was pulled into some storage room. At first I couldn't see what was going on or who it was that pulled me in the storage room. The light came on, and I focused on where I was. Tom was standing behind me with a big old grin on his face. I slugged him on his chest and said; "You son of a bitch! You scared the hell out of me! You know that?" "I know. That was my plan!" Tom chortled. He kept laughing at me. This just wasn't my day. First a cat decides to jump on me and kill itself, now this. I looked in Tom's eyes and I just melted. Man, do I like this guy! "I have to be getting to the nurse's office. I got a note to go down there; for what I don't know." "I got that note to you. I wanted to see you. I missed you a lot, I couldn't wait anymore" Tom stated as he leaned in and started to kiss me. I kissed back, falling into his chest. We kept kissing then Tom broke the kiss. "David, I've made a decision and I wanted to tell you as soon as possible." "What is it, Tom?" "I want to be with you and nobody else. I love you way too much to live without you. I promise you won't be second to anyone, but there is a hidden agenda here. We need to date and be on the down-low while doing it. I won't date anyone but you. You need to understand why it needs to be on the down-low, and..." "I know Tom, and I won't push you to do anything you're not ready to do. I just want to be with you; nothing more. Now that I know you want to be with me and no one else, then, I am happy" I said cutting Tom off mid-thought. "Can I ask why you want me to meet just these two of your friends than the others, David?" "It's simple; they are cool, and when you meet them you'll totally see why." "Well why don't we go over tonight and hang with them and watch a movie or something since it's Friday night" Tom suggested. "That's cool; let's meet at my house around eight or so!" "Sounds like a plan to me; let's do it" Tom agreed. We kissed once more, and then we left, Tom first, then me. I didn't see Jacob or Joey anywhere, so I decided we'd just pop in on them. They normally don't mind me doing that. I went home and showered, but didn't change into the clothes I was going to wear that evening. I just threw my feet up and watched television. At seven I got up and started getting ready. I was very nervous while I was getting ready. This isn't really a date but I was going to be with Tom. I kept changing out what I was going to wear, and finally decided on a pair of black jeans; not too tight but definitely not too loose; a turtle neck sweater, and my black Nike sneakers. As I was walking to the living room, there was the knock on the door. "Hey mom I am heading of to Joey's and Jacob's to watch movies; don't wait up for me" I called out to my mom. "That's fine son, just be careful, and love you!" mom replied. "Love you too, mom, and I will call you if it's going to be a late night." I opened the door, and my jaw just dropped to the ground. Tom was standing there wearing a white long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, fitting him just right in all the right places, and a pair of black boots. We headed to his car and as we got in, he leaned over and kissed me. "So, did you tell your friends we are coming over for the evening?" "No, I couldn't find them at school, then I tried calling and there was no answer. They are always there this early in the evening and I always drop in on them." I gave directions to Tom on how to get over to Joey's house. As we drove up to the house, I knew they were home. The lights were on in their part of the house. We got out of the car and walked over toward the house. We were stopped by some guy that came out of a parked car in their driveway. "Stop right there young man, who are you two and who are you here to see?" the man inquired with authority in his voice. "Who in the hell are you to be asking us what and who we are?" I shot back. He pulled out a badge and showed us. We both were stunned, then the door opened and Jacob walked out. "Hey Mike, these guys are our friends. They come over whenever they feel like it. Go ahead and let them through, please!" He put his badge back into his pocket and walked back over to the car where he came from. We walked into the house, just looking questioningly at Jacob. "What the hell was all that about, you guys?" I asked. "It is about Jacob again, but it's not his fault. It is a long story and we'll tell you, but bottom line is, it's still about that kid that shot up Austin High School last year" Joey responded. "They are still after him? Why not just let it go?" I asked. "Well they found out that the kids that stabbed Jacob at Wal-Mart a couple days after Christmas were sent by the shooter kid to kill Jacob. Now they want to get the shooter even more now than ever." Joey said. "I didn't know you were stabbed Jacob, what's up with that?" David inquired. "I didn't want anyone to know, I am tired of being the victim" Jacob stated flatly. "Cool. I understand that. Oh yeah, guys, I want you all to meet Tom, Tom this is Jacob and this ugly fuck is Joey!" I said by way of introduction. Joey punched me, but shook hands with Tom. Then Jacob asked if we wanted anything to drink. "A couple of sodas will be fine!" I said. Jacob went over to the kitchen and grabbed the sodas and brought them back to us. "This is cool you guys; you have like your own apartment here. How many bedrooms are in here?" "Thanks Tom, there is only one bedroom and the living room here" Joey said with pride. "That is awesome, the freedoms of being on your own, but still having your parents to lean on." "That is what we said to when we were given this offer, we jumped at it!" Joey said. "So what do you guys want to do tonight?" Joey asked. "Whatever you and Jacob want to do, Tom and I will be fine with it." "Since we have Rambo out there guarding Jacob, we should just stay in and watch a movie. Is that cool with you all?" Joey offered. "That is fine with me, and you Tom?" I asked. "Cool, I am fine with just kicking it tonight!" Tom replied with wry smile. We finally decided on a movie on pay-per-view. Jacob and Joey cooked up a batch of popcorn and grabbed more sodas and chips. We were just having fun watching the movie, picking it apart. It was just stupid movie that should have never made it out of the studio. Finally when the movie was over, Tom did something that surprised me. "Can I ask you something Joey, and please don't take any offense to the question." "Yeah go for it Tom, I promise not to take any offense to what you ask, but I also reserve the right not to answer!" "Now let me say first off, that you don't show or act like it, but are you gay by any chance?" "Wow, just speak your mind why don't you!" Joey remarked. I was stunned at the question and by the looks on Joey and Jacobs face, they were too. When I looked over to Tom, I knew he felt bad he even asked the question. He looked like he wanted to take it back, but couldn't. It was totally out there now. Joey responded without hesitation or irritation; "To answer your question Tom, yes I am. I am not out to anyone except David and Jacob here and my aunt and uncle. Why did you ask that question?" "I heard rumors about what had happen to you at Austin High School, before school started last year. We do battle on the field, but talk like friends off the field." "Oh, I see. Do you know the guys that beat me up?" At that point Joey's expression changed, he looked as if he wanted us to leave when he found out Tom was friends with the other foot players of his old school. "We are not what you'd call friends. We just talk when we played each other last year. They told us what they did to you to prove a point. You weren't coming here yet, so I had no idea who you were until I saw you for the first time this year." "That is cool, but those guys didn't even know I was gay, they just assumed. That was enough for them." David remarked. "I understand that, and that is why I am terrified" Tom stated. "Why would you be terrified? You date all the pretty girls at school?" Joey inquired incredulously. "Because, I have known for years that I love guys. I was just hiding it by dating women!" Tom stated without any hesitation. Jacob's and Joey's eyes almost popped out of their head. They couldn't believe what they just heard from a jock. Then Jacob finally said something that made the elephant in the room go away. "Tom, there is nothing for you to worry about with us. Joey and I have been going out since last year. I know about the fear you have. I still have it. I am not open to anyone. You are the fifth person I have told. Just find someone that you truly love; someone that truly loves you back. When you are in the open, act like exactly what you are; the star football player of our team. Who cares who you love and have sex with in the privacy of your room? You need to be happy and have someone to lean on when times are bad, as well someone to laugh with when times are good. Your private life is just that, private, and is nobody else's damn business! I wouldn't be standing here if it wasn't for my Joey. I love this guy so damn much. He has been with me through it all, all my surgeries and each recovery. When I went through chemo, he held my head above the toilet and cleaned me up when I was done throwing up. He never stopped loving me, no matter how hard I tried to push him away at times. He is my true love and always will be." They leaned in and kissed each other at that point. For the first time I saw the deep love these two had for one another, a love that will never be broken. I started to tear up and as I looked over at Tom, he already had tears rolling down his cheek. "Thanks Jacob for those words of wisdom and I hope I am not speaking out of place here, but I have found someone that I love as well. I hope our love can become as strong as yours and Joey's." He looked over to me and grabbed my hand and held it then looked over to Joey and Jacob. "I fell for David and hope we can be together as you two are, for life." "You guy's will. Congratulations, you two, and we will be here for you two!" Jacob gushed. At that point Tom and I kissed for the first time in public, not hiding from anyone that is around. Tom whispered in my ear; "Now I see why you wanted me to meet these guys first!" We kissed one more time then turned to Jacob and Joey. I noticed something I hadn't noticed before; they were wearing matching rings. "What's with the matching rings you two are wearing?" I asked, since sensitive questions were the order of the evening. They looked at one another, and then back to me and Tom. "Yeah Jacob bought the rings as a Christmas gift for me. They are awesome right?" Joey said in unabashed fashion. "Heck yeah it is awesome! Jacob, you two are not out at school. Aren't you afraid that this will put you guys out to everyone at school?" Tom inquired. "To tell you the truth, I love Joey with all my heart. The kids at school don't seem to notice the jewelry we wear and they don't realize the rings are a matched set." Jacob said. "I hope so, for both of your sakes, because the other students won't let it be, and will make you guy's lives a living hell!" Tom stated. At that point they looked at one another. I didn't want them to think twice about showing the love they have for one another. I tried to change the subject, but the seed has been planted. We decided on another movie and this time it was a comedy we all liked. We sat there laughing our heads off! I looked at the clock on the television and saw it was already after twelve. We said our goodbyes and headed off. When we walked to the car, the officer that stopped us when we first arrived was still sitting in his car. We drove to my house for Tom to drop me off, or at least, so I thought. Tom leaned over and asked me; "By the way, are you parents asleep? I am feeling a little frisky!" "Yeah, my mom is home, and she is a light sleeper. How about your house, is there anybody home there?" "Yeah my entire family and more then likely they are still awake" Tom lamented. We started making out in the car, I just loved the way Tom's lips felt on mine. We climbed into his back seat of his car. It was tight, but if you want to make love, you will make it work. I started to take off Tom's shirt, he stopped me. "We don't have the room in the car, plus I need to get home soon. If I do not walk in the door by one, my butt is grounded. Before we get too much into this, let's call it quits." Tom got up, moved to one side of the seat in the back seat and pulled back down his shirt. He then reached up front to open the door. I followed right behind him. When we were both out of the car, Tom didn't walk around, he just stood there by the driver's door. So I decided to walk around to him. When I got around, I leaned in to kiss him. At first he looked around to see if one was looking. Then he when he saw the houses were dark and no one was on the streets, he gave into the kiss. "Thank you for a good night, Tom. I love being with you!" "David, I love being with you too, and thank you for introducing me to your friends!" "That was no problem; we can't say anything about them. I love you Tom, see you tomorrow!" "I won't say a word to anyone about your friends. I love you too David, till tomorrow." Tom got back into his car as I walked to my front door. When I got to my door and turned around, Tom honked his horn waving at me, I waved back. I turned back, walked into my house and to bed. (JACOB'S POINT OF VIEW) When the guys left, Joey and I headed to our room. I sat there thinking on what David said about the rings. I worked so hard for people not to know about me, and do love Joey with all my heart. I just cannot go through another bad beating or taunting about who I like and love. Joey saw that I was in my own little world. He looked worried when he sat on the other side of the bed. I leaned over to him, lying on my back, in return Joey leaned down to me and we started kissing. Joey started moving his hand down my chest until it reached my waist. He pulled up my shirt, then, slipped it off. I just loved the way it felt when he kissed me down my body. Once he got back down to my waist, he undid my belt, and then with his teeth he unbuttoned my jeans and took down my zipper. Right away he pulled off my jeans and underwear along with my shoes. Joey jumped back on top of me and just went to work on my dick. I was so hard and leaking per-cum, I don't know how I didn't just shout the minute he put my dick in his mouth. I tried to reach down to get to his jeans, but the way he was on top of me so I couldn't. He undid his jeans and kicked them off. Then moved into position where we could suck each other off. All of a sudden, Joey let go of my dick and said; "Jacob if you keep going down on me like that, I am going to explode man!" We moved away from each other a bit and I was able to see Joey in all his glory. Joey was hot and being part of the teams in ROTC, he was getting cut. "Jacob, the time we spent with David and Tom tonight has made me realize just how much I love you. I've never had doubts, but I have, until tonight, lacked a full understanding of the depth of my love for you. I want to take our love to the ultimate level. I want and need to feel you inside me." His eyes and voice were pleading for me to not deny him. My answer to him was not verbal. I wrapped him into a tight embrace, our bodies in full contact. In way of an answer to Joey's request, I pressed my pulsing cock against him. I was kissing him deeply as I rolled on top of him, pressing my entire body into his. It was as though if we pressed hard enough, we'd meld out bodies into one. Seeing that is impossible, I decided to do the next best thing; to make love to Joey in the ultimate way. Joey knew what we had to do. He reached over, taking a pillow and, lifting his hips, slid it underneath himself. He opened his legs, the first step in giving me access to that most private place. Joey drew his legs up revealing more. We started kissing when I felt Joey grab my dick and move it to his hole. I was right at the entrance when he started guiding my rock hard pole into him. My mind was racing. I had thought we would, at least, discuss going to this level before it actually happened. Joey obviously didn't feel discussion was necessary. Joey made little circles with my dick on his rosebud, milking my pre-cum to lubricate his virgin opening. He gently tugged on my dick to indicate that he was ready for me to enter him. As my dick began to slowly enter his hole, his face lit up with a glow of total love I'd not seen before. After overcoming the initial resistance, I slid into my Joey very slowly. We hadn't even opened him up in preparation like I knew we should have. I knew it was going to be hard at first and painful! My dick was slipping into him with just my pre-cum as lubrication. I was watching Joey's face as the new sensations coursed though his entire body and being. His eyes and face were conveying pure love as we joined our bodies for this first time. Once I was fully in, I remained there, motionless, for a few minutes to let Joey catch his breath and become adjusted to me being inside of him. We were both realizing that this was the ultimate joining, not only of our bodies, but of our souls and spirits. Once I saw Joey was ready, I started. I was going in and out, like doing pushups. At the same time as I was inside my Joey, we resumed kissing deeply with a new found passion. Joey's legs were up in the air and his shoulder resting on the bed, I was in between his legs inside of him. I was in heaven. We got into rhythm as I gained speed. "Man Jacob, this feels so damn good! You keep hitting my sweet spot, man!" My eyes were closed; I loved the way Joey felt. He was so damn tight and so hot inside. I realized that I am the only one ever to have him. He was giving me the ultimate gift. "Jacob slow down or I am going to cum, please slow down!" I barely heard him. When I finally understood what he had said, it was too late. "Damn, Jake! I'm going to shoot man, I shooting..." Right as Joey started shooting, his muscles clamped down, which made him even tighter around my dick. The second he did that, I started to shoot as well. "Joey, don't do that! I going to cum, I cummmmmingggg..." I pushed all the way deep inside Joey and shot so hard inside Joey, that I literally saw stars in my eyes. I was filling Joey with my essence, pumping myself into Joey's butt. Joey was shooting his cum all over his chest and face. Finally when I was done, I fell right on top of Joey, my dick still inside of him. I just rested my head on his chest, listening to his heart beat. He was still breathing real hard, but he was calming down. When I noticed his breathing was nearly back to normal, I looked up to Joey's face, and he was smiling. "Jacob, I knew that you would know how to make me feel great when we took the step to make love. I didn't even have to touch myself, and I shot the biggest load ever!" "Joey, you have given me the ultimate gift of love. I never imagined that love could feel this way and the feelings I experienced were beyond anything I could have ever imagined. Joey grabbed onto me and pulled to his face and started kissing again. My dick was starting to get soft and slipped out of him. When it did, I rolled off of him. We both got up and went to the bathroom. We took a quick shower together and went back to the bed. I cuddled up to Joey, putting my arms around his body and buried my face in his hair. I was breathing in his scent. I couldn't go to sleep anymore without breathing in his scent or without him by my side. (ALEJANDRO POINT OF VIEW) I found out that the cops were already guarding Jacob. I knew it was going to be even harder to get to him. On the other hand, I found out the two kids I used to stab Jacob were out in the free. I knew I had to do something about them; to send a loud and clear message. You cannot rat on anyone in the gang and live to talk about it! I found out they don't have any protection and went back home. I got the word out for them to meet up with other members of the gang. They told them they had to unite the gang in order to keep it strong. In order to do that, they had to cut their ties with me. The kids fell for it and agreed to meet up with them. They picked an old boarded up house that no one had lived in for years. It was condemned by the city as unlivable. I got there earlier then the rest to scout out the place and to hide. We wanted to make sure the kids were not going to call the police on the meet. When they were told about the meeting, it was in person, and they weren't given a chance to talk to anyone. Once they agreed to come, they jumped in the car. I heard the cars drive up in front of the house so I hid. The front door opened and heard them talking. Once the front door was shut, they came into what was the den of this house. I came out through the door from the kitchen. To say the least, they were surprised to see me. They tried to run, but were grabbed by the arms and pulled back into the room. "Do you homey's think you can rat on anybody in this gang, this family and get away with it? DO YOU THINK YOU CAN?" I shouted. "We had no choice Alex; they said they would put us in prison!" "They wouldn't have done that homey's, and if they did, you were going to be taken care of. You ratted on your family, and you guys know that isn't the way we do things here." The look of fear was in their face and they knew what was coming next. As the first punch landed on there faces, they couldn't do a thing. The rest of us started punching the living daylights out of them. They finally fell to the ground and we started to kick them. We normally do this when we jump a member in the gang. We were not just jumping these guys in the gang; we were sending a loud and clear message there will be no ratting in our ranks, for no reason. I knew I had to do the unthinkable, and that is to take their lives. They had done what they thought was saving their lives, but once you choose to be part of us, you cannot betray any of us for no reason. I brought my gun, but I knew if I used it the neighbors would hear it. So I looked around the room and found a length of pipe. I went over and grabbed the pipe. When I came back, the rest of the guys stopped kicking them. I went to town on them. I started to hit them first on their legs and moving my way up. They were crying out in pain and begging for me to stop. They promised they wouldn't testify against me in court, but it was too late. I just kept hitting them, blood splattering all over my face and body. I just kept hitting them over and over again until they were not saying anything. I didn't stop. I knew they were still alive. Their chests were going up and down still. Then we heard the sirens coming from the distance. One of the neighbors must have called the police. We just high tailed it out of there as quickly as our legs could take us. I took the bar with me, finger prints and all. I just hoped I beat them enough to do either of two things: They would bleed to death before the ambulance got there, or my message was received loud and clear and they don't testify. Walking out the back door, I looked back at the bodies laying there on the floor, moving, trying to crawl out of the room. I knew I didn't kill them and that means they'd better have gotten the message or I will make sure they do get the message the next time. (JACOB'S POINT OF VIEW) The next morning, I woke up and reached out for Joey. He was still in bed with me; I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him close to me. I started to kiss the back of his neck, when he spoke out. "Jacob, we promised my uncle that we will help him clean the yard this morning. If we get going here, I won't have the energy to clean the yard with my uncle. You wear me out, man when we make love!" I laughed reaching down and grabbed onto his hard dick. I gave it a couple of squeezes, he was fully hard. I let it go and crawled out of bed. "That wasn't cool Jacob, you doing that; now you've left me with a boner for the rest of the day!" Joey whined. "Who says that you will have the boner the rest of the day? We do get breaks while we work. We will take advantage of one of the breaks!" I said with a twinkle in my eye. I winked at Joey as I got dressed and went into the bathroom to brush my teeth. Joey followed in shortly afterward. He was wearing an old t-shirt with the sleeves torn off that showed off his arms, a pair of old, torn jeans and his old sneakers. Joey wrapped his arms around me and started kissing my neck. I turned facing him, with tooth paste still in my mouth, but that didn't stop Joey on kissing me on my lips. We started kissing one another, feeling one another up. We broke the kiss and finished getting ready when we heard his aunt call out for breakfast. When we walked out to the kitchen, the officer was sitting at the table ready to eat with us. We ate breakfast, helped clear the table, then headed to the back yard. Joey's uncle told us what he wanted to have done, so we went to work. By mid morning most of the yard was cleaned up. We headed back in and had some lunch and then back out to finish the yard. By early afternoon we were done with the yard, so we headed back into the main house. We sat down on the den with our dirty sweaty clothes on. When Joey's aunt walked in, she wasn't happy with us sitting there in our filthy clothes. "Hey! You boys, get off of the furniture with those dirty clothes! Got get showered and changed!" "Sorry, we were just taking a breather that's all." Joey said contritely. We got up and headed back to our room. As we closed the door, we threw off our shirts, then shoes and pants. We raced to the shower and jumped in. we ran only the cold water and when it hit me, it felt so damn good. We finished cleaning up and changed then headed to our living room to watch television. Right when we sat down, there was a knock on the door. I got up and went to answer it. It was David and Tom at our door with big old grins on their faces. I invited them in and sat back down on the couch. "Hey guys, it looks like you guys had a busy night!" David and Tom just laughed and jabbed one another on their sides. "No we just had to clean the yard today, and it took a lot out of us. Why didn't you guys get down here earlier and help us?" I quipped back. "What? Are you crazy? I don't do any labor type work!" David stated with firmness and conviction. "Yeah me either. You think I want to hurt my arm and ruin my chances on getting a football scholarship?" Tom echoed. We all just laughed and sat there in the living room talking. It seemed that Tom wanted to know as much as he could about being in a same sex relationship. We told him it wasn't much different than being in a relationship with a girl. As long as there is love between the two that are in the relationship, who cares if there are two dicks? As we were talking, the door that led into the main house flew open and several uniformed police offices came rushing in followed by two other men in suits. It startled all of us so much that we all just jumped out of our seats. "Who are these two guys sitting here with Jacob?" one of the suits barked his question. I spoke up; "These are my friends from school, David and Tom!" "Ok. From now on, anyone that comes to visit needs to let he officers on duty know they are here. You need to give us a list of friends that will be coming over at anytime. Also, they must use the main door from now on. Your private entrance cannot be used anymore." The suit commanded. "Why? What in the world is going on here?" I asked with obvious irritation. "Jacob we are just trying to keep you safe and alive until we get Alejandro" the second suit stated in a calmer manner. "I know that; but why now the change in the way we come and go?" I continued my inquiry. "When there are too many entrances being used, it makes it more difficult to keep you safe, Jacob. Detective Andrews, please explain what's been going on" the first suit said. "Jacob first of all we are sorry for busting in here on you and your family. I just came from the hospital and I needed to make sure you were safe. Alejandro tried to silence the kids that stabbed you last month. They tricked the kids on going with them to a house on the eastside of town. When they arrived at the house, they were beaten within an inch of their lives. Alejandro had a bat or something and beat them up and down their bodies. He was aiming to kill them. An observant neighbor saw the cars and kids going in the house and they called 911. If the police didn't get there when they did, the kids would be dead for sure. We don't even know if they going to make it as it is" Detective Andrews reported. "If you haven't spoken with the kids, how do you it was Alejandro that did this?" Joey inquired. "Well, first of all, the kids that were beaten within an inch of their lives are the same kids that are going to testify that it was Alejandro that gave the order to kill you. Plus some neighbors saw the kids that were running out there, and ID'd Alejandro from his picture. That's how we know it was him trying to clean up any witnesses out there. I really believe this guy is not going to stop unless he kills you and the other boys or we catch him again and put him away. He has nothing to loose anymore. He is going to be charged with over two hundred counts of attempted murder for the drive by shooting last year, the attempted murder of you two other times and now these two kids. He won't stop until we stop him" Detective Andrews concluded. "So what is going to happen now since he is still out there?" I asked with frustration coming through in my voice. "Well Jacob, there will be changes in your life for right now. I know you want to stay here and go to school with your friends. We are going to try everything in our power to let this happen. If we see it is too dangerous or we can not protect you anymore, we will move you to a safe house" Detective Andrews said and then continued; As of now, though, we are going to be placing more officers to protect you, step up our presence in the neighborhood here and your school. But, Jacob, you need to understand this as well, the officers that are guarding you are doing it free of charge to the City. They are giving their own time; we can not afford it any other way. If they hadn't stepped up to help, you would have been moved to the safe house" Detective Andrews said. "I do thank them for that; I know what they are doing for me." "Just be careful Jacob and follow what ever the officers ask you to do." "Yes sir I will, and again, thank you." They left our room leaving David, Tom, Joey and I just sitting there looking at one another. I just can't believe this guy is willing to go as far as he is. What the hell is wrong with him? He should just get out of Dodge. All of this turned the rest of the day into a total bummer. We didn't even do much after the cops busted through the door and told us what happened. David and Tom left about six that evening, using the front door of the house. After a not so restful night and before Joey woke up, I got up dressed and headed out. After speaking with the police yesterday, I wanted to see the face of the kids that stabbed me. Now I knew where they were, and that was Columbia East Hospital. I snuck out, so that the posted police officers didn't see me leave. I had to catch the S.C.A.T. bus, and head to the east side. I never really use the city buses, so I would need to figure out which bus to take. Soon enough with the help of the first bus driver, I was dropped off in front of Columbia East. When I walked in, I found the information desk. The nurse told me what room they were in, so I headed up. I don't think that the detective intended to give the kids' names for me to be visiting them, but I had to see them for myself. When I first walked in, I wanted to give them a piece of my mind. I suspected police officers would be posted at their door, but there wasn't. I opened the door and found two kids lying on in the beds. They couldn't be any older than fifteen, if even that. I could not really tell due to the beating they'd taken at the hands of their fearless leader. You could barely tell they were even kids under all the bruises and wraps. Machines and wires were coming out of each of these boys. I felt bad. I walked over between the middle of the two beds. I just stood there looking at these kids, wondering why they did what they did. Then one of them opened his eyes. I jumped a couple feet back. He looked at me and started to talk, but I couldn't hear him. So I walked over to the head of the bed and asked him to repeat what he had said. "I am sorry for doing what I did to you! I didn't really want to, but it was expected of me and I had to" the boy said in a raspy whisper. I just looked at him, thinking what kind of demented person would demand a kid to go out and kill someone they don't even know? "Please forgive me; I don't want to die without knowing you forgive me!" the boy pleaded. "I have forgiven you a while back. I do not hold a grudge against you or your friend. I just wanted to see you for myself" I said in a low and soothing tone. "Thank you. Now I know if I die, I can die with a clean book" the boy said. "Hey you listen to me! You'd better not die. Use every ounce of strength and will to live. You are too young to leave this world. One mistake doesn't mark a man. Just remember that" I said in a comforting tone. "Thank you and I know this won't happen. Maybe one day we can be friends. My name is Cesar, what is yours?" "Nice to meet you Cesar, my name is Jacob." "Thank you for coming Jacob, I must..." At that point he shut his eyes and went to sleep. I knew he had hit the morphine button, because he was out like a light. I walked out of the room and back onto the bus back home. I now have a different mind set about these kids. I won't excuse them for what they did, but it is the result of the life they were brought up in. Gangs are the way of life for a lot of these poor kids. Now by seeing this face and talking to him, I don't hold any ill will towards them. No, I won't excuse them, but I have forgiven them. There's a major difference. When I got off the bus at the corner, I walked up towards the house. I noticed it was very quiet. I went around to the window I snuck out of and slipped back in. I walked back into the room, and Joey wasn't there anymore. I knew I was caught, the question was, who knew I was gone? I walked out to the den, no one, and then to the kitchen. They were eating breakfast together. Joey's uncle saw me first, "Hey kid nice to see you awake, come and join us, and eat breakfast." "Thank you!" I walked over to my normal seat, right by Joey. Mrs. Alvarez brought me a plate of food and orange juice. I looked over at Joey; he didn't even look at me. We sat there quietly eating breakfast. Once we were done, Joey and I headed to our room. The minute we walked in and shut the door, Joey went off on me. I just let him get it off his chest and said nothing. He yelled at me; "Jacob you don't know how worried I was when I woke up and didn't find you in bed. Then I started looking for you, and didn't find you anywhere. What was I supposed to think and do? I didn't want to get you in trouble but at the same time, you were gone." "All I can say Joey is that I am sorry for that!" "Where did you go that needed to keep a secret from me and everybody else?" "I had to meet those kids that stabbed me. So I went to the hospital and talked to one of them." "I hope you got this out of your system and you won't do that again!" "I have and I promise that I won't do it again!" We didn't say anything else, we decided to watch television. The rest of the weekend we stayed home. First of all, we really didn't feel like going out anyway, and plus with shadows on me it would make harder for Joey and me to really do anything and to be ourselves. When we woke up on Monday morning, it was gloomy and raining. Days like this, I'd much rather stay in bed than go out. We got ready for school and headed out. Right as we walked out the door, the officers stopped us and informed us that had to drive us anywhere I went. When we arrived to school, we did the usual; went into practice, or should I say, Joey went to practice, and I was dealing with the newsletter. Since it was raining outside, Major Moore decided to pull the teams in and call it a morning. We decided to go and have breakfast. We walked back to the main building and found David and the guys still eating. We sat down and just jumped in. David was still talking about last Friday morning and the cat that jumped from the roof to its death. Joey and I just looked at each other and just couldn't help but laugh. David looked at me and Joey with a grin but his tone said he was a bit upset. "Why is it that you guys keep laughing at me about this cat?" "Simple, you keep saying it jumped on purpose at you. No animal has minds like us, and says good bye cruel world and kills itself" I said. The rest of the guys at the table started laughing at David. David just turned and finished eating. I felt bad for him, but I just couldn't tell him. The day went by quickly, but the weather didn't clear up, it got worst. We headed to practice again, but thought it would be cancelled. Wrong. Instead Major Moore had the Drill Teams practice inside the building. The Armed Drill Team was in the range and Unarmed, in the large classroom. Since the range was taken, there was no Rifle Team practice. So Joey joined me watching the Armed Drill team practice. The Rifle Team may not have had practice, but still had to stay regardless. We stood there watching the Armed Drill Team go through simple moves. That is really all they can do, because you can't throw the rifle inside the range. The ceiling is just too low. Joey and I were looking at the Drill Team Commander. Man, that man was hot and had a butt that any woman, and of course gay guy, would kill for. Joey and I are confident in our relationship that we tease around looking at other guys. As we were talking on what we would do with that butt of the Commander's, another cadet caught my eye. Not that he is cute, far from it. I really didn't take to this guy at all. There is something about him I just don't like. I can't explain it, but I read people and whatever my first impression of a person is, that is what I go by. This guy just freaks me out. He was twirling his weapon in front of him like the rest. The only difference is he was getting higher and higher. I tapped on Joey's shoulder to look. "Hey this stupid fool is going to throw his weapon. Want to bet me on that?" "Mr. Flanagan? He probably is stupid enough to do it. I think when he was a baby he was dropped on his head one too many times." "One too many times? Try more like a hundred too many times!" We both laughed but kept looking at him. Sure enough, he threw his weapon in the air and it hit the ceiling. The strange thing was it actually got stuck in the ceiling. The weapon actually weighs over twenty pounds, and for it to be hanging from the ceiling was strange. The Drill Team Commander noticed what was going on, and started yelling at Mr. Flanagan, but he wasn't listening. He was looking straight up at the weapon. The stupid fool was standing right below the weapon. Gravity will kick in, and if he doesn't move out of the way, it will hit him right in the face. Once again, I was proven right. The rifle fell and hit Mr. Flanagan right in the face then fell to the ground. Right away he held his face and there was blood coming out from between his fingers. Right as the rifle fell, Major Moore walked in. He seemed to have the worse timing for us cadets; we always got caught. He always said he had ears and eyes all over the building. "Mr. Flanagan what in the world did you do?" He mumbled his answer to Major Moore. It was bad enough when he wasn't hurt; we could barely understand him when he speaks. Now that his face is covered with his hands and blood, we can't understand him at all. "Major Moore his weapon fell and hit him on the face." "How could his rifle have fallen and hit him on the face unless he was throwing it indoors?" "He did throw it indoors, and I should have caught him and stopped it" the Commander admitted. "Yes you should have, you are the Drill Team Commander. Get him off to the nurse's office and finish practice. Before you leave for the day I want to see you in my office." "Yes sir. I will make sure he sees the nurse and I'll stop by your office before I leave." With that, Major Moore walked back to his office. You could tell he nor the Drill Team Commander were happy. If it was up to them, they would cut him from the team right then and there, but right now, they are struggling to fill the teams. They can't afford to loose anyone right now. Soon after the rifle problem, practice was let out. We headed off to the car and home. As we walked across the street to the main building, we noticed David walking with Tom. They were not holding hands or anything, but they were together. I know my life would be hard if people found out that I was gay; Tom's would be worse. Not only he would lose his football star status, but he, more than likely, would get his butt kicked everyday. Those two need to be careful. David is out, and Tom doesn't need anyone making assumptions about him. As the week wore on, I tried to help out recruiting for the teams. By Thursday it looked like we had enough cadets involved with all the teams. It made Major Moore more at ease now. That guy will die young if he continues to worry like he does. On Friday, as I was heading to third period class, the officer that was watching over me, stopped me in the hall, and asked me to follow him. At first I thought something was going wrong. When I entered the conference room and saw the District Attorney there with Dr. Whitmore, I was instantly more at ease. "Jacob please takes a seat. I asked for Dr. Whitmore to join us so we didn't talk with you without an adult present. I hope that is ok with you" the D.A. said. "Yes sir it is, as long as it is ok with Dr. Whitmore!" Dr. Whitmore just shook his head in the positive then the District Attorney continued; "I need to make this short in order to get you back to class. Jacob I do not want this to effect your decision on testifying for us in court, if the case ever gets to trial. But, we have a major issue we need to take care of. Right now there is no money in the budget to keep police officers posted with you twenty four hours a day. I have spoken with them, and they feel there isn't really any major threat to your life. I know I said they volunteered their time, but the chief of police won't have it. So what I have to do is pull off the detail on you. We won't stop the police driving around the school and your house, but as of now, they cannot be guarding you at you home." "Ok then, what am I supposed to do if that guy comes around and tries what he did with those poor kids?" "We really don't think he is in town any more. He might be across the border at the closest, but no longer here. I really don't see a reason for concern. We just don't have the resources to keep the detail on. I wish I did. You could hire your own protection if you want, but as for us, we have done all we can do in this matter" the D.A. concluded. "Well then there isn't really anything else I can say or do. I really appreciate what the officers have done for me and giving their own time to sit in a car outside of the house. Please thank them for me. Also if you ever do catch that guy and get him to court, I promise to testify for you" I replied. "Thank you Jacob, that means a lot. I will look in on you from time to time to ensure everything is going fine with you. Take care of yourself and your family" The D.A. concluded. I shook his hand and Dr. Whitmore's hand. As I was about to walk out, Dr. Whitmore asked to talk with me. When we were alone, Dr. Whitmore said; "Jacob I was angry at first when I heard they were going to pull the detail again. Then I understood the budget isn't there. Please, Jacob, if you don't hire someone be very careful. Don't go anywhere you normally don't go or follow someone you don't know. You have a heart that will get you in trouble." "I promise I won't do any of that. To be honest with you, sir, I am glad they pulled the detail. I am no one special, just a kid in high school. Having someone follow me like was some kind of rock star wasn't fair to the others that might be in as much danger as I am, and don't get guarded." We shook hands, I went off to class. The day went on with no other surprises. I told Joey at lunch on what had happened, and he was fine with it. At least that is what he told me, but his look on his face was one of deep concern. Joey invited David and Tom over to the house on Friday. Joey's uncle and aunt were going to be out for the evening. When the guys showed up, we went into the main living room and watched television. We ordered pizza for dinner with chicken wings. When it arrived, we almost inhaled the pizza whole, it seemed like. When we put on the second movie and started to relax, the phone rang. At first we didn't answer it, so it just rang. Soon after, the phone started ringing again. We tried to ignore it, but it was too loud. Joey got up and answered the call. I stayed with David and Tom just talking about nothing, while Joey was on the phone. I heard the phone fall to the ground. I got up and went over to where Joey was just standing. He was frozen, didn't move an inch. I heard someone still on the other line talking to thin air. I grabbed the phone to see what was up. "Sorry, hello there, this is Jacob. May I ask who this is?" "Yes Jacob. This is Dr. Snider at Sierra Hospital. We've been trying to get in contact with Joey to let him know there has been a terrible accident." "Accident? Who was in the accident Dr. Snider?" "I believe it is Joey's aunt and uncle." Dr. Snider said. "No they are out celebrating Mr. Alvarez's promotion at work. They are not at the hospital Dr. Snider." "Jacob they were brought into the hospital about thirty, maybe fifty minutes ago. They were driving away from where they were eating when an F-250 crossed into their lane. It hit them head on at a pretty high rate of speed." "Are they going to be ok Dr. Snider?" I asked with fear in my voice. "That is what I was telling Joey. They didn't make it out of surgery, Jacob." I looked over at Joey, and he was still standing in the same spot with the same totally blank look on his face. "Does Joey need to do something right now, Dr. Snider?" "No, not right now. I think it is best he takes care of himself. He should come down when he can and identify and take ownership of the bodies." "We will do as soon as we can. Thank you for your call Dr. Snider." I hung the phone and went over to Joey, and just wrapped my arms around him. The moment I started to pull him to me, he broke down crying. Joey sobbed out really loud, that it brought David and Tom in from the living room. They just looked on, not knowing what was going on. I just sat there holding on to Joey while he was crying. I didn't want to let him go, he needed me more now than ever. His uncle and aunt were the only ones in his family that would take him in and understood it wasn't his fault for being gay. Now his support beam has been broken, and I know he feels he lost everything. Finally I was able to pick Joey up. I wasn't a strong guy, but he was smaller than me in height. I carried him into our room, he had his hands wrapped around my neck, and his head snuggled into my neck. When I got to the room, I put him down on our bed, and lay down with him. I stayed until he was asleep and a little longer. I got up, pulled the blanket over him. As I was leaving the room, I just looked at him for a while. His face was white as a ghost, streaks of tear drops that haven't dried yet. I walked back over to him, moved his hair from his face, and then kissed him. He didn't even stir. He just slept. I walked to the living room where David and Tom were still sitting. They were just sitting there talking to each another. When I walked into the living room, they stood up. "Hey guys, sorry about tonight; we certainly didn't plan this. As you probably figured out something has happened. Joey's aunt and uncle were killed tonight in a car accident." David and Tom just stood there stunned with the news I just said. They couldn't believe it. "So I think we should call it a night. Tom I need a big favor from you, please!" "Anything, name it Jacob!" "Joey needs to get to Sierra Hospital sometime tomorrow and take ownership of his aunt and uncle's bodies." "Why does Joey have to do it? Why not his mom and dad?" David said in his protective way. "I really don't know why but I suspect it is because he is the closest relative in town maybe. But we need a ride to the hospital tomorrow. I will pay your gas; I just need to get Joey down there as soon as possible and get this over with." "Not a problem I will be here tomorrow at nine in the morning Jake" Tom stated. "Thank you again, and I am sorry for the way the evening ended." "Don't worry man, Tom and I understand you and Joey didn't plan this. Can I come along to for support to Joey? He is my good friend as well." "Of course you can David, sorry for not asking. I just..." "I understand why Jake, don't worry. We'll see you tomorrow." With that they headed off. I went around the house turning off all the lights except in the den. I made sure all the doors and windows were locked. After that I headed back to Joey. When I got into the room, he was still sleeping in the same position I left him. The only difference was that his face was dry. I went over to him, and took off his shoes, and then I undid the buttons to his shirt, and took it off of him. He didn't even wake up when I was getting him ready for bed. I undid his belt then his button to his jeans. I gently pulled them off of him, and went to the drawers and pulled out a pair of his running shorts. I slid them on him, making sure they were fine all away around his body. I changed into my running shorts when I was done with Joey. I lay back in the bed next to my Joey. I wrapped my arms around him, and kissed his neck. When I wrapped my arms around him, I felt his hands grabbing for mine, then he moved even closer to me. We went to sleep in each others arms, snuggled up together. The next morning I woke up, and Joey was on the edge of the bed in a ball. I got up and went over to him. He was just staring into midair, not really looking at anything. I shook him, but he didn't respond. I headed to the bathroom and started the shower. Once the water was right, I went back to the room and picked up Joey and carried him to the restroom. I sat him on the toilet and started to undress him. I took his socks off, then his t-shirt, the shorts, and then his underwear. Once I had him undressed, I got undressed. As soon as I was out of my clothes, I picked Joey and placed him under the shower. As I got in, I let Joey just lean on me. He started to cry again, so I just held onto him until he stopped. Once I finished cleaning Joey up, I dried him off. I put towels around our waists and carried him back to the room. I redressed him in clean clothes and combed his hair. I headed to the kitchen and prepared us a quick breakfast. Joey didn't eat anything. I figured that was going to happen. Ten before nine, there was the knock on the door. It was David and Tom standing on the porch. "Thanks again guys, I really appreciate this. Let me get Joey so we can head off." They nodded their heads and went to David's car. I went back to the room, grabbed my wind breaker and Joey's. Put them on, and pulled Joey to his feet. Finally Joey walked with me to the car. The whole ride to the hospital no one said a word. When we arrived at the hospital we found the doctor we spoke with the night before. He took us down in order for Joey to identify and claim the bodies. As soon as he did, we headed out. Tom took Joey and me back home. As soon as we got there, I took Joey back to the room, and laid him down. He just laid there, his eyes wide open, but doing nothing or saying anything. The next morning Joey was getting a little better, at least he got up on his own. He started eating a little as well. The phone has been ringing off the hook ever since the Alvarez's died. The callers were mostly family members wondering when the funeral was going to be and where Joey's aunt and uncle were going to be buried. Since Joey wasn't up to it, I found the Alvarez's paper work. They already had it all planned out and paid for. I called the funeral home, and they said they would take care of getting the bodies and preparing them for viewing. I started making the phone calls on Joey's behalf letting the family know the funeral was on Monday. I left Joey's parents to the last. When I called them, they didn't seem to care one way or the other. I didn't really care, as long as I had let them know, I'd done my duty. When Monday rolled around, I called the school and let them know neither Joey nor I were going to be there due to a death in the family. Joey was doing even better today than yesterday. He was more talkative than before and he was eating almost normally. Tom and David skipped school to go to the funeral. Tom gave all of us a ride to the funeral home. It wasn't an open casket due to the injuries they received in the crash. That afternoon, they were laid to rest. It was a very beautiful but sad event. The whole time Joey was crying for his aunt and uncle. It was obvious that he was hurting deeply. The following day we received a call from Joey's aunt and uncle's attorney. We didn't know they had a will, and Joey was the only one named in it. We got ready and headed to the bus stop. We had to take several busses to get to the attorney's office. On the way over, Joey opened up to me. "Jacob I am very afraid about what is going to happen now since my uncle and aunt are gone!" "What are you so worried about Joey? I know you are going to miss them a lot, and I will too, but we will find a way to survive this." "I know we will Jake, but now this gives a chance for my parents to come and pull me away from you. I simply cannot lose you now; I love you too much!" "I love you too, Joey, and we will do everything in our power to make sure that doesn't happen" I said with as much reassurance as I could muster. "We are just kids Jake, we really have no rights at all, and you know that." "Let's take it one thing at a time. Maybe your mom and dad won't even bother with you, and just let you be." "I don't think that will be the case Jake, they were very angry that my aunt and uncle stepped in." Right then we arrived at the stop we needed to get off at. When we got to the attorney's office, we were seated in the conference room. This bald white guy, in his late fifties, heavy set guy walked in. he introduced himself and told us he was the attorney of record for Joey's aunt and uncle. He had the last will and testament from them. They changed the will four months before they were killed, and left Joey as the only one named in the will. He read off the will, and they left everything to Joey. The house was paid off through the insurance they had on it so Joey doesn't have to worry about house payments at all. Everything within the house was left to Joey, and then the big surprise was left at the end. They had a life insurance on the two of them, which would be paid out if they died in any way except suicide. The policies were in the amount of one point five million dollars each. I was stunned. Why was there such high life insurance on them? There was a kicker though; Joey couldn't touch the money until he turns twenty one. If he needed any of the money before he attained the age of twenty one, they left one person in charge of getting it to him. It didn't surprise me that they had named Dr. Whitmore as the one. They liked him very much when they met him. They entrusted the doctor with Joey's finances. In the mean time, they had a savings in the bank, in the amount of almost sixteen thousand dollars. There was also a college account set up in Joey's name in the amount of almost sixty thousand dollars. Joey was able to touch the money in the checking account, but only that. We thanked the attorney, signed all the paper work needed and headed home. When we walked up to the house, w saw a car in the driveway we didn't recognize at first. As we walked up to it, it had Arizona plates and we knew it was Joey's parents. Joey freaked out a little, but kept walking to the door. They were sitting on the porch waiting for us. It was his mom and dad as well as his sister Marie. They hugged one another, and went into the house. At first it was quiet and nothing was really said to each other. After dinner, we all made our way to the den. At first all that was talked about was sleeping arrangements. Then it happened, the bomb was set off. "Joey since your aunt and uncle are gone and there isn't anyone here as an adult to take care of you, you need to come back with us to Arizona." "Mom, Dad, with all due respect, I do not want to move back to Arizona. I am going to stay here and live." "Come on Joey, you wont have a place to live or means of support to take care of you. You really don't have a choice in the matter." "Yes I do, I can stay here because they left me everything, the house, money, everything." "They may have left you everything Joey, but you still have a mortgage on this house to pay and the everyday expenses" Joey's dad said "No I don't, dad, the house is paid off, and they left me enough money in the bank and there is life insurance." They just looked surprised at each another then, back to Joey. "How much is the money in the bank and the life insurance?" Joey's dad inquired. "Again, with all due respect, that is none of your business. I can't touch the money from the life insurance until I am twenty one. Until then they left a guardian for the money. If I need to get any of it, he can get for me if he approves the need." "And who in the world is this person that would more then likely rob you blind?" Joey's mom snipped. "Dr. Whitmore and he won't touch one red cent of the money." "No matter what, we can go to court and get control of that money, we are your parents after all." Joey just looked at me, he was freaking out. I jumped in at that point. "Sir, ma'am, I am not saying this to disrespect you or anything, but you can not touch that money. If you decide to try to remove Dr. Whitmore as the guardian of the money, I will tie you up in court for the years between now and when Joey reaches twenty one. I promise you, I have more money than you and for that reason alone, I will win." "Jacob why in the world are you even here, this is between Joey, his mother and me, not you. Are you his boyfriend or something?" "I was asked to be here by Joey. Joey has told you what he wants, and you really don't care about him. If you did, you would have been around more often then now. Your eyes opened up the minute you heard the house if paid off and there is money in the bank." "Jacob I would watch your mouth before you go too far and I toss you through this window" Joey's dad threatened. At that point Joey got up and looked down at his father, and then over at his mom; "Mom, dad, you are not wanted in this house. You were not wanted when my aunt and uncle were alive, you are still not welcome. I want you to get up and leave now!" They just looked at Joey but didn't budge an inch. "Didn't you hear me? This is my house and I want you out of it. If you don't get out, I will call the police and have you removed by force." "Fine, call the police, that way we can tell them you're a minor and you are our son. Anything you own is ours until you get to the age of eighteen." Before I knew it, Joey's dad was out of the chair and on top of Joey slapping him. I ran to Joey's uncle den and grabbed the pistol that was kept in his desk. I ran back to the den where Joey's dad was taking off his belt, holding Joey down. I walked up behind him and cocked the gun. I looked over at Joey's mom and she just froze where she stood. "Get off of Joey right now you bastard." Joey's dad got off of him with his hands raised to the air. His pants fall down to his feet. Joey didn't get his great body from his dad that's for sure. "Now, Joey has asked you nicely to get out of his house, instead you tried to beat him up. Now we are defending ourselves in our home. The law is on our side if I decide to shoot you two where you stand. The proof of your threat is on Joey's face. You will pull up your pants sir, and you and your wife will walk out that door right now, get in your car and leave. If you choose not do that, you will be taking your life in your own hands." At that moment Marie walked into the den. She started to scream at me and Joey. Joey then spoke up. "Marie, go and get your stuff and your mom and dad's stuff. Take it out side and leave with them." "You think this is over you asshole, it isn't! We will be calling the police the minute we get out of here" Joey's dad said, finally pulling up his pants. Right then there was a knock on the door.
