LLL – Chapter 21 – Happy Holidays – Happy Christmas (War is Over) Nick Bells' POV It's been a few weeks since Lucas broke up with me. Since then he's stopped hanging out with the group and has been getting along with his dad a lot more. Which is good, I'm happy for him. I just miss him. Good news though Gage is home for Christmas! He's been crazy busy with the community college the next town over. I swear he took as many courses as he possibly could in one semester. Gage and I were having a good old fashioned Bro hang out. Playing video games like always! I was actually kicking his ass for once. "I think I'm a little rusty from all that school work." "Pfft, excuses! You just don't want to admit that I'm better than you now!" Gage rolled his eyes. "That might have something to do with it." To be fair, we were playing Soulcalibur V, which he hasn't played much. After I had beaten him for the umpteenth time, he set down the controller. "Awww, tired of getting your ass kicked?" "Whatever, how are you doing with your schooling?" "What's with the sudden change in topic?" Our door opened to Clair standing in the doorway. "Surprise!" I jumped up from my seat and honestly glomped her. You know where you tackle hug someone, and they fall over. Ya that. "You said you'd be in tomorrow!" "I know, but I managed to squeeze onto an earlier flight. Kind of wish I didn't though would have saved me from sitting beside fatty McGreecy." I giggled and let my sister stand up. "So what were you two talking about before I so rudely interrupted? Or were you going to relive old times?" We both blushed. "No, not anymore. Sam is more than happy supplying my need now." "Eww." Clair half smiled. "Do I talk about my sex life to you two?" Gage and I looked at each other and rolled our eyes. Gage spoke up, "I was just asking how school was going for Nick." Clair nodded. "Yes I would like to know the same." She came into the room closing the door behind her. "Why are you two so interested in how I'm doing in school?" Clair shrugged and replied. "To be honest, it's not the first topic I would choose to have a conversation with you right off the bat. It's happening though. And to answer your question, it's mom and dad more so than us." Gage nodded. "Why would they care so much right now?" I knew the answer. "Lucas." They said together. Gage continued. "Last time you and Lucas broke up your grades went from all A's to a B-. It was not a pretty sight." "That was like two years ago though. I'm older and can handle myself better now." "Which is why mom is worried." Clair looked at me straight in the eyes. "You're doing really well in your classes mom says. Like... You're getting in the top five in all of them. You've always been smart but never this smart." "I'm studying more is all. It's nothing to worry about." I shifted my eyes away from hers. "Nick... yes it is." I looked towards the ground. "You're pushing yourself too hard; you need to calm down a bit." It was true; I was pushing myself really hard in school. Isaac even mentioned it the other day. By focusing on my school work, I forget about the pain I feel when I see Lucas. Bright note, doing really well in classes! Sour note, it was taking its toll on me pretty hard. Gage started massaging my back, "Look Nick... We're not saying studying is bad, or that feeling sad is either. We're just saying instead of trying to face the problem yourself; you have people you can depend on. Isaac, me, Clair for just three examples. Leave us a voice mail if we don't answer our cells. We'll get back to you and see if you're doing okay." "Worst come to worst, Mom always has a good set of listening ears." We all had a laugh at that. Clair never went to mom about her problems. She'd always talk to dad. "Thanks, guys... Good to have you home for the holidays." I smiled for the first time in weeks. "Good now let's play storm, so I stand a chance against you!" Gage shot up and grabbed our favorite game. It might be simple to have family around during the holidays, and some people take it for granted for sure, but me... I'm happy that this time of year comes around. I miss seeing everyone everyday like when we were little. Anthony "Annie" Justice's POV It was a few days before Christmas, and I've been more depressed than normal. I guess it's true when people say the holidays is the time of the year where people are most likely to commit suicide. I was out walking around just wondering around doing nothing particularly. I wondered into a clothing store and saw Shane and Zach. I was about to leave when Shane noticed me. "Hey Annie, how are you doing?" I scowled. "It's Anthony." "Sorry, how are you doing Anthony?" Shane corrected himself. I shrugged. "Meh, it's Christmas time..." Zach smiled. "What are your plans for Christmas?" "Travis is back in town. We're having the grandparents over and Travis' girlfriend." I was going to hide in a corner and try to be non-existent. "Sounds like a good time. Shane's family is coming over for Christmas, yet again." Zach has had them over every year since they got together. "Cool..." I looked over at some shirts. "What are you guys doing here?" "Trying to find a gift for Tyson Jackson. I look after him every other day." Zach explained. "I thought you were going to school?" "The days I can I do. If I need to study then, I get days off. He's a good kid though." Good for him, who cares. I rolled my eyes, "So what, are you his nanny or something?" Shane giggled. Zach spoke, "That is honestly my title." "Well, it's been fun, but I should get going." I don't want to spend the little money I had on some useless clothes. "See you guys later." I was about to leave when Shane spoke up. "You know you can join us at lunch, Anthony." I spoke without turning around. "No thanks... I'd just make everything awkward." I walked away ignoring anything they said next. Why would I go hang out with them again? Nick, Isaac and I would make everything super awkward, and I would end up walking away. Why even try being friends again when it's obvious it won't work? Yep, Christmas sucks... Isaac Adams' POV Antoine and I decided we were going to have our own little Christmas this year. Just the two of us together. We chose not to give us anything just spend a day together and hang out and stuff. Currently, we were at Timmies grabbing coffee. Well, Antoine was grabbing hot chocolate but you get the point. "I'm paying," I told Antoine, and I meant it. He shook his head though. "I can pay for myself." "I know, but I'm going to buy you the TWO DOLLAR DRINK." He looked away. "Fine you win." We got our drinks and made our way back out into the snowy wasteland that was the outdoors. Antoine liked the snow, specifically jumping off his deck into it. We were going to go up to his house and do that. The walk was... awkward. Not in a silent, awkward kind of way, we just kept bumping into each other. We kept losing our balance and bumping shoulders and laughing about it. Once we got to his place, we got his mom to start up some hot chocolate as we went outside to make some jumps. "Who's going to go first?" I don't know if I could or not. "Tu!" Antoine smiled pointing at me. "I've already done it today, Izzy." I sighed. "Fine." I got up on the deck rails and stood straight up. "Wish me luck!" Antoine rolled his eyes. We got about four feet of snow overnight, so on top of the twoish feet of snow already on the ground. Ya, it was a lot of snow and lots of fun shoveling. I've already made $200 this year by just shoveling. I took a look over the edge and jumped into the white abyss. "WoooHOOO!!" The snow went all around me like I wasn't even visible from above. "Ce était dur à cuire!!" Antoine yelled from above. I popped up from under the snow. "Translation!" Antoine's face was already red from the cold, but I could tell he was blushing. "That was badass!" I heard the window get hit. His mom was scolding him. Antoine got up on the rail. "Ready Frenchie?" He nodded. "WOOOOO!!" Antoine jumped down a bit away from me. He immediately popped back up. "Again!" We both got back on the deck pretty fast and got up on the railing together. We both jumped off at the same time into different spots. I got up super fast and pushed snow towards Antoine and got him right in the face. It turned into an all out snow war between the two of us. Snowballs, 'avalanches' and just general snow was being tossed back and forth. I may have ended up throwing us down into the snow in a fit of laughter. "You're an ass!" Antoine said as he got back up. Before he knew it though I sneaked in a quick kiss. "Ma mère!" I looked up; we couldn't see the window from where we were. "She can't see us Antoine." "Just don't do it again, please Izzy..." "Of course." We played around in the snow a bit more. Jumped a few more times and just had fun. It was a good way to spend the day together. His mom's hot chocolate was great too! It was homemade hot chocolate and was like a billion times better than Timmies. You could feel the texture of melted chocolate in the drink. "Merci, Mme Rieu." I smiled as I downed the drink. "De rien, Isaac." Basic French I understand! And yes Antoine's mom can say my name but he can't. "Let's go downstairs. Merci Maman." We quickly made our way downstairs to his room. Antoine closed the door and kissed me. Fuck did that chocolate suddenly taste better. "Much better." "Today has been a lot of fun Antoine." "Agreed." Antoine blushed and looked at the ground. "What should we do now?" "We could watch some Once Upon a Time. You still need to catch up." He rolled his eyes as he went to find his laptop. We ended up snuggling while we watched the show. His parents always knocked so we were safe as long as the door was closed. Today might have been simple, but man, it's one damn good day for me. Just Antoine and me being ourselves and hanging out. There is nothing more I could have asked for Christmas. Lucas Bear's POV After I had broken up with Nick, I avoided him. I mean who would want to hang out after you broke up with them? I hung out with some of my jock buddies at lunch. They hung out on the other side of the school, that way there was no chance to encounter Nick. Shyla came by a few times asking about the GSA. We talked about some other stuff too. She talks to me more in the classes we have together too. She seems nice. That's not the best news though. Dad is having a dinner at his place. He sent the invite shortly after I broke up with Nick. Rita must have told Iris what happened. That's the only way this could have happened. Blake has been mad at me since I broke up with Nick though. He screamed at me when he first found out. "Stop trying to impress dad! He's not worth it!" Was his entire argument. I couldn't help but agree with him... but I couldn't take back my actions either. When he found out we'd be having dinner with dad, he said he would tolerate it. We got to Dad's house, and everything seemed well. Dad was watching hockey, Rita and Iris were in the kitchen making dinner. We sat in silence as the hockey game went on. No one really spoke until dinner was served. Rita has to pull a stunt here too. "So how have you been Lucas?" I glared at her. "I'm fine." "Even with breaking up with Nick and all that?" It was Iris who spoke up. "We will not talk about this at the table Rita!" "How come?" Blake questioned. "Why is that topic not okay to talk about?" Iris turned her attention to Blake. "You know why young man." "No, no I really don't. It's a normal topic, a breakup. What makes this one different?" Blake was searching for an answer everyone in the room knew. He just wanted to hear it out loud. "Blake enough." Dad's booming voice came over the room. Blake glared over at dad. "No I want to hear why this isn't something to talk about right now." "It's an invasion of Lucas' privacy and I don't think he wants to talk about it." Iris tried to cover her tracks. I shrugged. "I don't really care, go ahead ask me anything." Me and my bro might not be on the best of terms, but I'm still going to back him up. Rita gave out a sly smile. "How is Nick taking it?" Blake crossed his arms. "He's okay, not great. It kind of crushed him for a bit, but he's doing better now." I knew breaking up would do that to him. I'm glad he's okay now. "Now stop avoiding the question." Iris said nothing; in fact the entire room was silent for the rest of the meal. Blake sat there simmering in his own anger. To be honest, I wanted a response to the question too but didn't want to push it. Dinner was awkward and uneventful after that. Blake and I stayed away from Iris, and she stayed away from us. Perfect harmony. When we got home, I went straight into my room. Blake stood at the door. "Look... I know we're not on good terms right now but thanks for standing by me at dinner." "No problem. I wanted her to say it as much as you did." I lied. I wanted her to say it, but I didn't push for it like he did... To scared of the storm, it would bring. Blake turned away, and then turned back. "How are you taking the breakup? You've been quiet ever since..." "Good night Blake." "Night." Blake closed my door as he continued to his room. Truth is I regret doing it through and through. I hated being called out on how stupid it was by everyone. Times like these all I could think of was Nick, and I end up reading old conversations. Sometimes it gets so bad I cry myself to sleep. I love Nick... there is no doubt in my mind about that. But that love is preventing me from having a relationship with my dad... Something so simple... why is it so painful to get the love I want from my dad? Tyson Jackson's POV Christmas time, the only time of the year where mom and dad are not working! My favorite time of the year. Dad has a mandatory two weeks off, and mom has three weeks off. So we've been spending a lot of time together. Like every year, we do a lot of family time. Board games, dinners, outings, in general. It's around these times where Dad goes to fancy dinners and shows me off. It was just something he did around Christmas time. Company dinners were a highlight for me. My dad had the amazing idea of inviting Taylor's family over for Christmas dinner. Taylor and I had gotten over the awkwardness of the kiss we had, and it was once again fun to hang out with him. Taylor and I were up in my room. "How were the company dinners this year?" "Pretty good. There was good food and a few kids my age. Wearing a tux sucks though." I feel all stiff, and the collar feels like it's choking me. "Collar still bugs you?" "Yep!" Taylor rolled his eyes. "You should just wear button up shirts for like a week you'd be fine then." "And blue faced!" Taylor and I laughed. "Plus why would I want to wear my fancy shirts?" "Got someone you want to impress? Looking fancy has got to impress someone." Taylor wiggled his eyebrows. "What was that?" "The eyebrow thing?" I nodded. "Me trying to get who you like out of your mouth." I stared deadpan at him. "Not happening." Mostly cause I didn't know who I liked right now. I mean there are Bradie and Jay but... I don't know. My situation is kind of weird. "Awww come on Tyson, who do you like?" "I'm not answering that." Taylor tried to do some puppy dog eyes. I turned serious, "No." He sighed. "Fine." "Tyson, Taylor!" It was dad. "Come downstairs please." Taylor and I made our way downstairs. As we got into the living room, there was a Catan board set up on the coffee table. "YES!" I kind of sorta yelled. I got some expansions for Catan for Christmas. One of them being the six player expansion. Dinner was in the oven, and we spent our afternoon playing Catan. Dad actually won the first game. After that Taylor and I traded victories for the rest of the afternoon. Got to love lucky dice rolls. We were just about to start another game when there was a knock at the door. I got up. "I'll get it!" "I'll check on dinner then." Mom got up and went to the kitchen. I answered the door. "Perfect! Hey Tyson!" It was Zach and Shane. "I have a gift for you." He handed me a gift bag. "Zach sucks at wrapping gifts. He decided to bag everything this year." Shane explained. "We got something for you too! Come in for a few minutes." Zach and Shane made their way inside. They stopped at the kitchen and started talking with mom. I continued into the living room to grab Zach's gift. "Who's at the door Tyson?" Taylor's mom asked. "It's Zach! He got me something, and I'm grabbing the gift we got him!" I quickly swiped it from under the tree and returned to the entryway. "Here you go Zach!" "Thanks, Tyson." I could feel myself blushing. "It's from Mom and Dad too." "Well, thank you Ms. Willows. And please tell Mr. Jackson my thanks as well." "Of course Zach." Mom returned to the kitchen to prep some more food. Zach looked at me. "How's Christmas been? Dad has been home a lot?" I nodded. "Yep! It's been lots of fun! We've gone to a few company dinners and hung out. We're currently playing Catan!" The two of them smiled at my excitement. "Well, we better be off. I'll see you in the new year Tyson. Merry Christmas." "Merry Christmas Zach and Shane!" I'm surrounded by love... just the way I like it. Chapter end. Each POV is a little short but sweet, except for Annie's. Like I said at the top. This is the exception to the on Hiatus, and there won't be another LLL chapter for a while. In the meantime a story I work on in my spare spare time has finally made it to nifty and Gay Authors. It's titled "Those Nights of My Life" and it's up on both sites right now! Go check it out! Thanks for reading!
