In addition, Mr Andrews had, somewhat reluctantly, agreed not to say anything publicly until after the outcome of selection was known. Apart from his parents and immediate friends -- Jake, Mike and Sam -- only a couple of teachers knew what was in the offing. It was, therefore, no surprise when Luke was able to slip away and unnoticed early to set off for Loughborough. After he and Jake had finished their lunch, they managed to slip away to have a few private moments together before Luke went to meet his mum. They found an empty classroom and went inside, closing the door behind them. Jake pulled his boyfriend into a tight embrace, making sure that they were pressed closely together with each of their erections squashed against the other. The loving pair kissed deeply but broke apart after only a short time because they were acutely aware that they had neither the time nor was this the place to go any further. As he broke the embrace, Jake said quietly, `I love you so very much, Luke. I know you're going to do well in Loughborough and I will be even more proud of you than I am now.' Luke kissed the American teenager's neck as he whispered in reply, `I love you too and I am going to do my level best so that your faith in me is justified.' As the British teenager finished speaking, the bell for the start of afternoon classes was ringing, so the lovers had to leave the room. Jake opened the door carefully, looked out and signalled that there was nobody around so they parted with Luke going in one direction and Jake in the other. As luck would have it, neither of the teenagers ran into any of their classmates or teachers as they made their separate ways. In any case, Luke had a free period and walked in the direction of the Common Room but veered off to leave the school building by a side door. He walked towards the visitors' car park where his mum was waiting to drive him to Loughborough. The ride to the venue was relatively smooth and the traffic was surprisingly light. This enabled the teenager and his mum to chat amiably during their journey. Although Luke had taken part in championships before, this event was far and away the most important he had ever competed in and he was feeling a combination of excitement and anxiety as they drew nearer to the venue. Molly Townsend was sensitive to her son's feelings and tried to ensure that the conversation was kept light and cheery, something which Luke appreciated as he fought to keep his conflicting emotions under control. When they arrived, Molly helped the teenager unpack his bag from the boot of the car and then hugged Luke and said, `You know your dad and I love you very much and are very proud of you and all you have achieved. We know that you'll do your best and are sure you will be successful. I hope to hear some good news when I pick you up on Sunday afternoon.' `Thanks, mum. I will do my best but I don't know if they will tell us right away, so there may not be any news to give you when you collect me.' Molly gave her son another big hug, kissed him on the cheek and watched as he made his way towards the building reception area. At the doorway, Luke turned and waved just before he went inside and Molly, with a sigh, got into the car and began the journey home. As he approached the reception desk, the young woman, who was sitting there, looked up and gave Luke a welcoming smile. In response to her unasked question, Luke gave his name and was, in return, given a folder containing important information about the timetable of the weekend and instructions on how to find his room, which he would be sharing with another teenager. Following the directions he had been given, Luke headed towards the stairs and had just reached them when a familiar voice called out, `Luke Townsend! It's great to see you here!' Paul Smart was standing and smiling as the teenager turned and walked towards him. After shaking hands with his former coach, Luke replied, `I could say the same to you. It's nice to see a friendly face! I'm sorry I haven't been in touch since ... since the funeral.' Paul nodded and then said, `I quite understand, Luke. In any case, I've been busy up here and settling into my new coaching role. Of course, I'm independent but I wanted to wish you good luck; the competition is strong but you should be OK if you hit your best form. You'd better get off and find your room and get settled in before the initial briefing which is due to start quite soon.' Luke smiled and responded formally, `Thanks, coach. I will try my hardest.' When Luke found the room he was to share with another participant, the door was ajar and he pushed it open and went in. A dark-haired young man was sitting in a chair by one of the beds. When he saw Luke, he grinned and said, in a Welsh lilt, `Hi, I'm Gareth Thomas, but call me Gary, I'm here for the diving competition and you, I assume, are Luke Townsend. I'm pleased to meet you even more so because I'm sure you're not a rival. I know all the divers who are likely to be here and I've never met you before, so, what do you do?' Luke had been taken aback by the fact that his roommate knew his name and it took a moment before he replied, `I swim breaststroke so definitely not a rival, but tell me how did you know my name?' Gary laughed, `When I checked in, I did a bit of detective work. We have been allocated our rooms in alphabetical order unless we are competing in the same trial. I looked at the list of names we have in our folder, didn't know who you were and assumed, rightly, that you would be my roommate. I come from South Wales, where are you from?' After Luke responded, Gary looked at him with a serious expression before saying, `Wasn't that the place where there was that terrible accident? Someone was killed, wasn't he?' Luke was surprised that his roommate knew about the accident and took a moment before he nodded and responded, `Yes, Chris Smart, the boy who was killed, was a member of my club. We were sort of rivals but friends as well. It was awful and I feel I'm here to swim for him as much as for myself.' Gary waited a moment and then said, `I'm sorry to hear that but don't just swim for him, swim for yourself! If you're here you are good enough in your own right, so don't put yourself down.' Luke looked away unwilling to let Gary see that he was fighting back tears and, after putting his bag away, turned back and said, `Thanks, I know you're right but it's still hard. Gosh, look at the time, I think it's time to go to our briefing.' The meeting was quite short and merely reiterated what was already set out in the competitors' folder but it allowed everyone to get to meet their peers. When it was over, groups of teenagers mingled together before making their way to the canteen for their evening meal. Luke found himself walking into the serving area alongside an international swimmer called Tom, a current member of the junior squad called Dean and a fellow competitor, Charlie, who was a freestyle swimmer. The quartet picked up their food and found a table. The two more senior swimmers took the initiative and Luke was nonplussed when he heard the member of the junior squad speak. If he had closed his eyes he would have thought that somehow Jake had insinuated himself into the competition because the young man sounded exactly like him. Noting the strange look on his audience's face, Dean grinned and said, `I guess you are wondering how someone with an American accent can possibly be a member of the UK junior squad. The answer is that my parents are both British, I was born here but my dad's job took him to America and I've lived there since I was five years old. Currently, I attend school in Florida and I have an athletic scholarship. This means that my fees and accommodation are covered, however, don't get me wrong, I still have to do well in my academic classes but, in return, I get excellent facilities and coaching. Everyone over here is very happy with the arrangement and I am free to swim for the UK whenever they want me.' Luke nodded and said, `That sounds like a fantastic opportunity.' The conversation moved on to other topics but the teenager continued to dwell on what Dean had said and the germ of an idea began to form, although Luke recognised that many things would have to fall into place if it was to come to fruition. When the meal was over, some of the teenagers sat around chatting for a short while, but most, including Luke, decided to have an early night ahead of the strenuous weekend activity. As Luke entered the room, to his surprise, Gary was already in bed and chatting to someone on his phone. On seeing his roommate, the Welsh boy quickly ended the conversation, before saying `Just phoning my girlfriend. She's a bit pissed I'm not there this weekend for a family party but I told her this was my one opportunity and I had to be here. Do you have the same problem of balancing your swimming with your social life?' Luke thought carefully before he replied, `Not as much as you. I have a good understanding with those who are part of my social life.' Silence reigned for a short while before, by mutual agreement, the teenagers turned off the light and went to sleep. It took Luke a while before he succumbed as his brain would not allow him to relax as the memory of Dean's comments continued to buzz around his head. Eventually, the need to rest won the battle and he fell asleep. Gary was awake bright and early and, by the time Luke had awoken, the diver was up and dressed and getting ready to go to breakfast. Once the shower was free, the sleepy teen got up and emerged a short time later feeling refreshed. He got dressed and followed Gary to breakfast. The breaststroke group were set to meet at the gym for their first session together. The coach assigned to the group explained that there would be a rigorous training and fitness session, after which each swimmer would be given a time trial. After lunch, the competitors would do more training and a second set of trials would take place. At the end of the afternoon, a list would be published of the two groups each of the swimmers would compete in the following day. The winner of each race would be joined in the final by the four fastest losers. The programme was rigorous and quite tiring but Luke survived it well. He made a good time in the speed trial, although somewhat shy of his best. He was disappointed but determined to improve his performance during the second speed trial. From time to time, when there was a break Luke could see the divers and watched as Gary performed what looked like an extremely complicated manoeuvre with great aplomb. Luke admired his roommate's physique and the pleasing bulge in his speedos but did not have long to rest before it was time for him to swim again. On this occasion, Luke swam much better and faster and was delighted by his performance and time. Like the others in his group, he waited anxiously for the publication of the team list for the following day. When it appeared, Luke was not disappointed. He had managed to avoid the fastest swimmer, Ricky, and was in the same team as George, Andy and Peter, all of whom had been slightly slower in the trials. Nevertheless, he was determined to take the opposition seriously and not to be complacent. The whole group of breaststroke swimmers went to eat together and, despite their rivalry in the pool, everyone was friendly. Luke had enjoyed seeing the group in the changing room and had the opportunity to admire their fir, athletic bodies and have a glimpse of their dicks. Even had he been tempted to take his interest further, Luke felt not only an obligation to Jake but also he was tired from the day's exertions. At dinner, the group sat in a random order and Luke sat alongside two of the members of the rival team, Bill and Steve and they laughed and joked together, albeit rather nervously. At the end of the meal, Luke had a quick chat with Paul Smart but the conversation was rather bland and reserved on both sides. Paul's only advice was that Luke should have a good night's rest. As on the night before, Gary was in bed by the time his roommate got back and they both exchanged a few words about how they had fared during the day. Gary was doing well and lay second in the diving competition and hoped to move up to first place in the final rounds. Luke reported that he was doing well but would need to step up a gear if he was to be successful in gaining a place on the team. The following morning both teenagers were up, dressed and ready for the day at an early hour, although Luke was not due to swim until later in the morning as his group would swim after the conclusion of the backstroke event. All the swimmers assembled at the poolside to watch the other competitions until it was their turn. When the breaststroke group were called forward, Ricky's group went first and all four swimmers set a challenging time with the strongest swimmer leading the way and winning easily. By contrast, Luke's race was much tighter and he had to swim hard to win. There was a brief hiatus while the officials decided who should swim in the final round. Ricky and Luke automatically qualified as did the two fastest losers from the faster swimmer's group. The final places went to George, so only two swimmers missed out but they took the news well and offered their congratulations and support to the surviving competitors. The final race began with a false start by Steve and there was a rather nervous re-start which saw Luke start slowly, having hesitated just a tad too long before diving in. By the turn, however, he had clawed his way back and was lying third. Luke was confident that he had a fast enough finish to enable him to catch the second-placed swimmer and did so halfway down the final length. Ricky was now in his sights and, in a nail-biting finish, the other swimmer held Luke at bay by little more than a fingertip. At the end of the race, the two close rivals embraced, both teenagers grinning and happy at how well they had swum. The swimmers moved away from the pool as quickly as they could because there were more finals still to be concluded. They found a space at the poolside and watched the remaining competitions before they all went off to change, go to lunch and then prepare to return home. Luke sought out Gary and discovered that his roommate had, indeed, managed to gain first place and seemed a shoo-in for selection for the national squad. Luke's group, along with all the other swimmers, had been informed that they would not be told their fate immediately but would be emailed later in the day. Gary said he thought that was rather frustrating for his new friend and the pair swapped email addresses and agreed to keep in touch. Luke was inclined to agree with Gary's assessment but maintained the hope that he would be selected given his overall performance. He and Gary embraced and agreed to stay in touch come what may. Having said his goodbyes to the rest of his fellow swimmers and Paul Smart, the teenager went to the car park where his mum was already there and waiting for him to arrive. She gave her son a cheery wave and Luke was disappointed to note that she was alone. He had hoped that Jake might have been offered the chance to come and meet him for the return journey. Molly Townsend got out of the car, kissed and hugged her son and then asked, `Well, how did it go?' `I was second in the final race so I am hopeful that I will get in but I won't hear until later today. I don't know what the hold-up is but they promised to tell us the news -- good or bad -- by this evening.' Molly gave her son a comforting pat on the back and they both got in the car and started the journey home. They had not gone far when Molly turned and, looking serious, said, `I'm afraid I've got some upsetting news. Jake has had an accident and is in hospital. He has broken his wrist and has some cuts and bruises but his parents expect he will come home either this evening or tomorrow morning.' `What happened, do you know?' Luke responded trying to sound calm. `From what I can tell, he had an accident with his bike. He was riding along and a car pulled out in front of him. He swerved to avoid a collision but lost control and landed badly. His parents said that if you wanted to see him when we get back that would be fine but to call them first to see if he has come home or is still at the hospital.' Luke just managed to avoid a four-letter expletive -- he never liked to swear in front of his parents -- and said instead, `That sucks and is such an unlucky thing to happen. I'd like to see him if possible when we get back. Did the driver stop?' Molly nodded, `Oh yes, the driver called an ambulance. He claimed he didn't see Jake before it was too late and was full of praise for the way Jake tried to avert an accident. The Police are investigating but it looks like it was a genuine accident.' The Sunday afternoon traffic was surprisingly quiet and they made good progress, arriving home much earlier than might have been expected. Having spoken to his dad who expressed his pleasure in, and support for, all his son's efforts. Once he had checked his emails, Luke called Jake's house and was told that the American teen's dad was on his way back from the hospital with his son who had been discharged. Luke asked if he could go around to see his friend and was told that he could make a short visit in a couple of hours but should not stay long as Jake was likely to be tired. Luke went to the kitchen where his parents were sitting at the table and joined them for something to eat. He kept looking expectantly at his phone. Eventually, his dad said quietly, `If I can misquote an old saying "a watched phone will never produce an email". I know you're keen to get the answer but it will come when it comes. I think it would be good if you went to see Jake not too late and, who knows, the result might come while you are both together.' Luke knew that his dad was right and decided to go along with the suggestion. He waited a short while longer and then walked around to Jake's house. The family car was in the drive so Luke knew that his boyfriend was home from the hospital. He was welcomed into the house and Jake's dad said that his son was expecting him but warned again that he should not stay long. Luke went upstairs to his lover's room and was filled with trepidation as he opened the door. The American teenager was lying back in bed and appeared to be dozing. He woke the moment he saw the British teen and forced a smile. Luke saw the black eye, the cuts on his boyfriend's face and the cast on his wrist and wanted to cry. Instead, he moved closer and, rather awkwardly, tried to embrace Jake who winced slightly but was as keen to receive a hug as Luke was to give one. Luke stepped back and exclaimed in mock indignation, `What on earth have you done to yourself? I leave you for a couple of days and when I come you look like this!' Jake, who tried to laugh but found that it was too difficult, came back with a quick response, `It was a failed suicide attempt, I found I couldn't live without you for as long as a day, let alone two! Seriously though, how did you get on?' Luke shook his head not only at the self-deprecating remark but also to indicate that he still did not know for sure, `I think I'll be OK but I only came second in the final race. I'm waiting on an email.' Jake grinned and said, `I'm sure you've done yourself and me proud and the news will be good. However, if you are at a loose end while you wait for the email, I've got a bit of an itch that needs scratching.' The injured American took hold of Luke's hand and guided it under the duvet and straight onto his prick which was beginning to harden. Luke knew immediately what was needed and began to wank his boyfriend gently at first but steadily increased the pace and pressure of his action. Jake lay back with his eyes closed and moaned gently as his lover used his best efforts to maximise the pleasure he was giving. The British teen was tempted to burrow under the duvet and suck the American's cock but was concerned that they might be walked in on by one of Jake's parents. The horny American had no such inhibitions and threw back the cover and pulled the British teen down towards the tip of his dick encouraging Luke to suck him off. The willing teenager happily slipped the velvety head between his lips and used his tongue to tease the piss slit drawing a loud groan of pleasure from Jake who began to push up to meet his boyfriend's downward slurps. Tired and hurting though he was, Jake was a more than willing participant and only regretted that he could not reciprocate. The effects of Luke's skilful sucking brought the American to the point of orgasm and he was rewarded with a fountain of spunk shooting directly into his mouth and down his throat. With a satisfied moan, Jake felt his dick throbbing as his spunk flew out and then lay back. `Thanks, I needed that! You are an awesome boyfriend!' Luke grinned and said, `The pleasure was all mine!' With exquisite time, the moment the American's orgasm began to subside was also the moment that Luke's phone pinged to indicate the arrival of an email. The British teen anxiously opened his app and scrolled to the message. Nervously, he opened it and a look of relief passed over his face. Luke turned to his boyfriend, `I'm in! I've been selected to join the national squad! Although I don't want to leave, I do need to tell my parents. Give me time to get home and in a little while I'm happy for you to pass on my news to your parents.' Jake nodded to indicate that he understood and Luke went downstairs, thanked his boyfriend's parents and rushed home. As soon as he got in the house, the look on their son's face told Luke's parents the news that they and he had been hoping for. They came over to hug and congratulate him but Luke's dad broke away and said, `We are very proud of you, but you do realise that this is when the hard work begins. You are going to have your plate very full what with schoolwork, swimming and Jake.' `I know, dad, but I sincerely believe that I can do it!' I hope you liked this part of the story.
