Sexual Development: Chapter 19 - Gym Session by Gymnopedies It was around five minutes to two when Daniel, Jason, Dean and Trevor entered the boys' changing rooms on Wednesday afternoon. It was pretty clear that they were all a little nervous. The letter that they had received had not given any real indication of what was in store for them and even though Daniel had received reassurance from Adam that he had nothing to worry about, the boy still had that same unsettled feeling in his stomach that accompanied the approach of any school exam or test. Jason coped with his nerves in his usual way with lots of giggling and bravado, stating, quite loudly, that he was not at all worried and that physical fitness testing was a complete waste of time anyway. Then he went on to suggest some absurd exercises that they might be asked to do. Dean seemed to find Jason's suggestions amusing, and even threw in a few ideas of his own. Trevor, on the other hand, kept casting Jason sour looks. "You OK?" Daniel asked Trevor, while the other two boys were out of hearing range. "I'm fine," Trevor scowled. "I wish he'd shut up though," he said, looking pointedly at Jason. Daniel gave a shrug. "It's just his way of letting off steam." "Yeah, well, I wish he would let it off somewhere else." Daniel suppressed a sigh and gave up trying to be friendly. Why the hell did Dean waste his time hanging around with such a miserable git? The boy went over to join Dean and Jason who had taken their kit-bags over to the changing benches. "You think we should start getting changed?" Jason asked. "I think we'd better wait for the doc," said Dean. He gave a grin. "He might have changed his mind about the shorts and want us to be naked." Jason looked suddenly worried at this thought, then he realised that Dean was joking and gave the boy a playful punch on the arm. A moment later they were joined in the changing room by two older boys: David and Carl Benson. David and Carl were twins. They weren't quite identical, but not far off. They were sixteen years old, tall, slim, with dark-brown hair and brown eyes, and carried themselves with the sort of detached aloofness that older boys often had when around younger ones who they didn't know particularly well. Daniel had always thought them extremely hot and had even had a couple of fantasies about doing stuff with both of them at the same time and, for no other reason than that, he felt himself blushing and he quickly lowered his eyes as Carl looked at him. "Are you guys here for the development study thing?" David asked. Dean nodded. "Yeah. Is that what you're here for?" "Yeah," said David, not looking entirely happy. He looked at his brother. "You think there's been a mess up with the times?" "No, it's right," said Daniel. "The six of us are in together." He suddenly felt uncomfortable as all eyes turned on him. "Adam told me about it," he added, quickly. "Adam?" David looked a little puzzled. "Who the hell is Adam?" "He means Doctor Lomax, stupid," said Carl. "Oh yeah, course," said David with a smile. "I thought he was talking about one his friends or something." As if mention of his name were a signal, Adam appeared from the door that led through into the gym. He was dressed in his usual jeans, with a pale-blue cotton shirt. He had training shoes on his feet and a couple of stopwatches on strings around his neck. In his hand he held a clipboard. "Thanks for getting here on time, everyone," he said, with a relaxed smile. "We've got a busy hour or so in front of us, so let's make a start. I assume you've all brought your shorts?" he glanced around the watching faces, getting a few nods in return. "Good. I'd like you to get changed, quick as you can, and get yourselves through into the gym." "Can we put shirts on as well?" asked Trevor, nervously. "No, you won't need your shirts," said Adam. "Also, make sure you take your underwear off. You're going to be getting pretty sweaty by the time we've finished, so just shorts and nothing else. I'll see you in the gym in two minutes." He gave them a final smile and then disappeared back through the door. "No shirt and no undies?" Trevor muttered. "We might as well be doing it naked." "I'm sure if you asked him nicely, he'd let you," Dean giggled, already pulling off his school tie. As the boys changed, Daniel couldn't help casting glances over at the Benson twins. He was a little disappointed when they both turned away to take off their under-shorts; he'd been hoping for at least a quick peek at their dicks. Most of the boys changed from under-shorts to gym-shorts as quickly as possible; Jason even left his shirt on until he'd changed his shorts. The exception was Dean, who stripped completely before even getting his shorts out of his bag, giving everyone a good chance to see him naked. And, of course, Daniel took full advantage of this opportunity. Tonight, after school, Daniel would be going round to Dean's house again and maybe he'd get another chance to touch Dean's dick under the pretence of measuring him. Also, the young teen recalled that Dean had promised him a surprise. Daniel had no idea what the 'surprise' might be, but if it in any way involved Dean taking his clothes off then he was definitely up for it. Once they were all changed, the boys trooped through into the gym, the two older teens leading the way. As Daniel entered the gym he pulled up short, his mouth falling open. Standing next to Adam, wearing baggy sweat-pants and a loose, open-sided T-shirt, was Craig. "Oh wow!" Dean had pulled up beside Daniel, his eyes wide as he looked at Craig. "I think I'm in love," he muttered, keeping his voice low so that only Daniel could hear. "He's taken," Daniel replied. "What? You mean you know him?" "Erm, yeah, his name is Craig. He's..." Daniel hesitated, catching himself. "He's a friend." He'd almost blurted out that Craig was Adam's boyfriend. Whilst Adam clearly made no secret of the fact that he was gay, he didn't advertise it either. Daniel didn't think it a good idea to spread this information where it wasn't necessary. "He's gorgeous," Dean whispered. "Dean?" said Daniel, softly. "Yeah?" "You're dribbling all over the floor." Dean gave a soft giggle. "What do you mean about him being taken?" "Oh, nothing," said Daniel. He thought quickly, trying to come up with something to cover his earlier slip. "I just meant that if he were interested, he's mine, so forget it." He gave a grin. "I'll fight you for him," said Dean, grinning back. "Come on you two," Adam called, from across the gym where the other boys had gathered, waiting. "We need to get on." "Coming," Daniel called back. He and Dean hurried over to join their friends. "First, let me introduce Craig," said Adam, when he had everyone's attention. "He's kindly agreed to come in and help me with recording timings and counts and things like that." "He means I was bullied into it," said Craig, brightly. He gave Daniel a mischievous wink. "What I would like to do today." Adam continued, ignoring Craig's comment, "is to get an idea of your general fitness. I'll be putting you through a series of exercises and recording the results. Then, towards the end of the period of the study, we'll repeat this session so that I can assess any changes. I'd like you all to do the very best that you can, but please remember that this is not intended to be a competition; you're not competing against each other." Daniel smiled to himself as he saw Jason glance towards Dean, his mouth set in a tight line. Not competing against each other? Yeah, right! As Adam put them through various exercises, including pull-ups, push-ups and sit-ups, it soon became very clear that his comment about them not being in competition with each other had fallen on deaf ears. Right from the start it was obvious that it was Dean who was setting the standard in most of the exercises, and Jason appeared determined not to fall too far behind him. The twins had at first approached the exercises with a sort of relaxed confidence, as though they didn't need to prove anything to the younger boys, but this soon changed when they saw Dean in action. Trevor, for some reason, appeared to be focussing on Jason, pushing himself to the limit to try to beat the smaller boy's scores. As for Daniel, he just didn't want to come last. Whilst Dean got by far the highest scores in most of the initial exercises, he wasn't quite so good when it came to the speed tests. The first of these tests involved running backwards and forwards between cones set at increasing intervals along the length of the gym. They competed in pairs. Craig measured and recorded their times, and then Adam took their pulse rates, noting them down on his clipboard. The twins went first, finishing almost together. Next were Dean and Daniel, and Daniel amazed himself by coming in a couple of seconds ahead of Dean. Finally it was Jason and Trevor. Jason really went for it, almost throwing himself between the cones and gradually inching in front of Trevor. As he almost literally threw himself over the finish line, Jason would have crashed into the wall if Carl, one of the twins, hadn't caught him. "Hey, take it easy," said Carl, his hands on Jason's shoulders. Jason stood gasping, a wide grin on his face. "You scared I'm gonna beat you?" he panted. "You bet I am," laughed Carl. "You're gonna make us older guys look bad." Adam took several pulse readings from each of the boys, saying that he wanted to see how long it took their pulse-rates to return to 'normal'. While he did this, Craig dished out small bottles of water, advising the boys to sip it, rather than gulp it down. "Adam never mentioned that you were in today's session," said Craig as he handed Daniel his water. "He didn't tell us that you'd be here either," said Daniel. "Looks like I'm going to be doing this for most of this week and possibly next week as well," said Craig, with a sigh. "Still, there are compensations." He grinned as his eyes flicked around the bare, sweating torsos of the young teens. Daniel giggled, softly. "Yeah, I guess." He took a sip of his water. "I think that one likes me," said Craig in a conspiratorial whisper, as he nodded towards Dean who stood a short distance away with a smiling Jason and a scowling Trevor. "He keeps looking at me." "Dean? Yeah, he thinks you're hot," said Daniel. "He said he'll fight me for you." He giggled again. "Really? Now I like that idea. Of course, you'd both have to be naked, and in mud." Daniel gave a splutter of laughter which caused him to choke on the water he was swallowing, and ended up with Craig thumping his back. "Alright you two," said Adam, coming over to them. "I'm not sure it's a good idea for you to be conspiring together." He took hold of Daniel's wrist and glanced at his watch as he took the boy's pulse reading. After taking the reading he jotted it down on his clipboard. "I'll say one thing: you all seem to be pretty fit." "They all look really fit to me," Craig agreed, his gaze taking in the near-naked boys. The expression on his face made it clear that he was putting a completely different meaning on the word 'fit'. "I'm beginning to wonder whether it was a good idea to ask you to help me with this," Adam sighed, smiling good-naturedly. After their short break the boys returned to the exercises. It was basically more of the same, with Dean gaining the top scores in most of the tests that involved stamina and endurance, and the twins coming out top in anything that involved running. The final test was a straightforward speed test that involved running twenty lengths of the gym. All the boys went at the same time, with the twins finishing almost together, well ahead of all of the younger boys. Daniel managed to stay just ahead of Dean for most of the time, but lost ground on the final couple of laps, with Dean just beating him to the finish. As Daniel's fingers touched the wall at the end of his final lap, he heard a yelp and crash from behind him and he turned to see both Jason and Trevor on the floor. Adam immediately rushed over to the two sprawled teens, who had both gone down with quite a bump. Jason quickly climbed to his knees, grimacing as he rubbed his elbow. Trevor was slower to get up, but when he did he looked absolutely furious. "You tripped me," Trevor shouted, glaring at Jason. "It was you who tripped me," Jason shot back. "'Cos you knew I was going to beat you." "Like hell you were," snapped Trevor. He was now on his feet and took a step towards Jason, clearly tensed up for a fight. "Oh no you don't," called Adam, grabbing Trevor's arm. "Just calm down. It was accident. Now, stand still a minute and let me make sure you're not hurt." While Adam gave Trevor a quick check over, Daniel knelt beside Jason. "You OK?" "Yeah," Jason muttered. "I just banged my elbow." He scowled over at Trevor. "It was his fault. He went straight into me." "Looked to me like he did it on purpose," said Carl Benson, who was now also kneeling beside them. "You're lucky you didn't break your neck." After Adam had made sure that neither Jason nor Trevor were hurt, other than suffering a few bruises, the doctor got all of the boys together. "That's all the exercises finished," he said. "Thanks, all of you, for making so much effort. We're almost done for today. I'd like you all to go get yourselves showered and dressed and then over to my room. I need a small blood sample from each of you." The teens made their way back through to the changing rooms, where Craig turned on the showers. Daniel quickly pulled off his shorts and followed Dean who was already under the hot spray. "Ooh, this feels good," Dean sighed, his head back as he rubbed water over his chest with the palms of his hands. He glanced pointedly down at Daniel's groin and giggled softly. "I've always loved school showers; you get to see things that are normally kept hidden. I really want to check out David and Carl. Look out; here they come. Wow! Those two are hot." The two sixteen-year-olds entered the showers together. Naked, they appeared to resemble each other more than ever. They were tall, having a good couple of inches on Daniel, and were slim, almost lanky, in appearance. Their bodies were smooth, but they had thick bushes of dark pubic hair and long, slender dicks hanging down in front of their balls. Daniel realised he was staring and quickly looked away. He heard Dean give a soft chuckle. Trevor entered the showers next, moving to stand close to Dean, though he didn't speak. Daniel gave the boy a cursory glance. He'd seen Trevor naked in the showers before, and while the boy was OK, he wasn't anything special. Last to step under the water was Jason. As usual when he was in the showers he appeared extremely self-conscious as though wanting to hide the fact that he wasn't quite as developed as most of his peers. He glanced in the direction of the Benson twins, obviously taking in their larger equipment, and quickly turned his back on them so that they wouldn't be able to see his less-developed genitalia. He looked miserable as he began to rub the water over his upper body. "You alright?" Daniel asked his friend, noticing that Jason looked pale, even under the hot spray. "Yeah." "You don't look it. You didn't bang your head or anything when you fell, did you? Because if you did..." "It's nothing like that," Jason muttered. "So what is it then?" asked Daniel. Usually when Jason was faced with a problem he put on an air of over-the-top bravado. If he became quiet and withdrawn, like now, then he was really worried about something. Jason met Daniel's eyes for a moment, swallowed visibly, and then looked down. "It's this blood test we've got to have," he said, a tremor in his voice. "I don't like needles." "I don't like them either," said Daniel, with a shrug. "I don't think anyone does. But it won't hurt. Not much anyway. I've had blood tests before." "I really don't like needles," Jason insisted. He shuddered and seemed to draw in on himself. The boys finished showering and towelled themselves dry. As he rubbed himself with his towel, Daniel noticed that Craig, who was going over some of the readings on his clipboard with Adam, was casting frequent glances in the direction of the naked teens. It seemed that Dean had also noticed this and was taking an awful long time to dry his back, whilst leaving his entire front exposed to the older teen's gaze. "Do you have to be quite so obvious?" whispered Daniel, leaning in close. "Don't you find it exciting when people see you naked?" Dean replied. "Not really. Come on, let's get dressed before the others notice what you're doing. You want people to know you like boys?" Dean looked suddenly worried. "You think they might guess." "If you carry on like that they will eventually." "Yeah, I guess you're right." The boys went to find their clothes. The six boys gathered in Adam's room. They stood in a silent group as the doctor prepared to take blood samples from them. Daniel kept glancing worriedly at Jason, noting that the boy now looked even paler than ever. He managed to catch his friend's eye and Jason responded with an extremely forced smile. "OK, who wants to go first?" Adam asked. He gave a grin as his question was met with total silence. "I'm only going to take a little blood, not execute you." Daniel gave another glance at Jason and stepped forwards. "I'll go first," he said a little nervously; even though he'd had blood tests before and he knew that it didn't hurt, the idea of someone putting a needle in his arm caused a cold shiver to run up and down his spine. However, he hoped that if Jason saw him having it done and realised that there was really nothing to it, it might help the boy overcome some of his own fear. Daniel rolled up his sleeve and sat down in the chair. Adam placed a strap around the boy's upper arm, just above his elbow, and tightened it. He gave the young teen a reassuring smile. "You've had this done before?" he asked as he wiped the area with a cotton swab. "Yeah." "OK. Try to relax. It'll only take a few seconds." The doctor sat down in a chair that he'd placed facing Daniel's. He leaned forwards, a needle-mounted syringe in his hand. Daniel looked away quickly, deciding that he would rather not look at the needle and that he definitely didn't want to see the blood being drawn. Instead he looked up at the watching boys and gave what he hoped was a confident smile. He realised that Adam had deliberately placed the chairs so that he would be blocking the view of what he was doing with his own body, and that none of the waiting boys would be able to actually see the blood being taken. Only Craig, standing at the side, would be able to see everything. A sudden, sharp prick caused Daniel to flinch involuntarily. It was nothing really; much more a psychological pain than a physical one. The young teen kept his eyes straight ahead. "I can't do it!" Jason, his face white, pushed his way through the group of boys and headed out of the door. Adam momentarily looked away from what he was doing to glance up at Craig. Craig nodded and hurried out after Jason. "What a wimp," Trevor muttered, his expression scornful. The comment earned himself a disapproving look from Dean. "God, you're a real arsehole," said Carl Benson, glaring at Trevor. "I suppose you're not scared of anything?" "I'm not scared of a little needle," Trevor scowled. "Arsehole," Carl, repeated, shaking his head. "OK, guys, that's enough," said Adam, without looking around. He'd removed the needle from Daniel's arm and pressed a small piece of cotton wool over the tiny puncture wound, telling the boy to press down on it. The doctor then tore off a short piece of sticking plaster and used this to fix the cotton wool in place. "That's you done," he said, smiling. "Thanks," said Daniel, relieved that it was over. He got up out of the chair, feeling much happier than he had when he sat down. He gave Trevor a dirty look as he pushed past the teen on his way to the door. He wanted to find Jason and make sure that the boy was alright. It turned out that Jason hadn't gone very far. He was standing a little way along the corridor, not far from the door to Adam's room. Craig was with him and the older teen's arm was around Jason's shoulders. As he approached them, Daniel could hear Craig speaking softly to the boy. There were wet streaks on Jason's face, indicating that he'd shed a few tears. "You OK?" Daniel asked. Jason shook his head and gave a disgusted grunt. "I've really made myself look fucking stupid," he muttered. He raised his arm and wiped his cheeks with his sleeve. "I bet they're all having a good laugh at me in there." "Actually they're not," said Daniel. "The only person who said anything was Trevor, and Carl called him an arsehole." "Everyone is scared of something," said Craig. "It's nothing to be ashamed of; it's the way people are." He gave a grin. "With me it's spiders. If I see a spider, even a little one, I'm gone. There was one in the bathroom at home last week. It was a huge thing with a big, fat, bloated body and long hairy legs. It was big enough to have your arm off if you let it get too close. I wouldn't even go in there to use the loo. Adam had to go in to get rid of it." He squirmed as he recalled the incident. "I'm not scared of spiders," said Jason, with weak smile. "You're a lot braver than me then," said Craig. Jason was quiet for a moment and then he looked at Daniel. "Is Adam mad at me?" Daniel shook his head. "No. He didn't say anything at all, but I'm pretty sure he's not mad; he didn't look it." "He won't be mad about something like that," confirmed Craig. "He's seen people scared of needles before. He'll understand how you feel." "I feel like a right dork," Jason muttered, now appearing more annoyed with himself than anything else. The door to Adam's room opened and the twins came out. David gave Jason a nod of the head and tight smile as he passed. Carl mirrored his brother's smile but also lightly punched Jason's upper arm and said, "Don't worry about it." "See," said Daniel, as the twins went off down the corridor. "They weren't laughing at you." A few minutes later, Dean and Trevor came out. Dean was poking his finger at the small piece of cotton wool on his arm. He looked up and grinned as he saw the other boys. "You OK, Jase?" he asked. Jason nodded, and then scowled at Trevor, who scowled back. "The doc let me watch while he took Trev's blood sample," Dean grinned. "It was ace." He looked at Craig and then lowered his eyes, almost shyly. "I didn't mind having it done," said Daniel. "But I didn't want to watch." Dean gave a shrug and another grin. "OK, so I'm weird." "Nothing wrong with being a bit weird," said Craig. "Sometimes weird can be fun." Dean glanced briefly at Craig and then quickly looked away, blushing. "Yeah, I guess. C'mon Trev, let's go pick up our stuff from the changing room. I'll see you guys later." As he said the last part he gave a quick but significant look at Daniel, who nodded in return. As Dean and Trevor walked away, Adam appeared in the doorway. He was wearing a smile, but even so, the sight of the doctor caused Jason to immediately tense up. "Come on back in," said Adam, gently. "Don't worry, I'm not going to force you into anything. But I think we should have a talk." "Do I have to have the blood test," asked Jason, a tremor in his voice. "Not if you really don't want to," said Adam. "Come on." He stood back to allow Jason back into the room. Daniel and Craig followed Jason inside. Adam indicated that Jason should take a seat in the chair that the boys had used whilst having their tests. Jason approached it warily, casting around as though looking for evidence that he might be being tricked into something, but there was not a needle or a phial of blood in sight. As Jason sat down, Adam sat in the chair directly in front of him, leaning forwards with his elbows on his knees. "First off," said Adam, "I want to say I'm sorry for scaring you like that. I should have noticed that you were having a problem with what we were doing." "Erm, that's OK," Jason murmured. Adam smiled. "So was it the blood or the needles? Or maybe both?" "It was the needles," said Jason. "I don't like needles." He gave a quick, half-hearted grin. "Blood's OK." "Well, that's something," said Adam, brightly. "Lots of people have huge problems with blood, especially when it's their own. The slightest trace of it and they keel over." His face turned serious. "But lots of people also have problems with needles, and it's not something that you should be ashamed of." He sat back. "Have you never had a blood test before?" Jason shook his head. "You've been pretty lucky then," Adam continued. "Most people have to have them at some stage, and it's very rare these days for anyone to go through life without some experience with needles. The biggest problem with a fear of needles is that there usually comes a time when you don't have any choice in the matter; you're ill, or you've had an accident or need some form of treatment, and you have to go through with it whether you're afraid or not." He patted Jason's knee. "The silly thing is that much of the time these tests or injections hardly hurt at all. Sometimes, unless the person is watching, they don't even realise it's been done." Jason's expression showed his disbelief. "How can you not know when someone sticks a needle in you?" Adam smiled again and then, without warning, he lifted his hand and lightly slapped the back of Jason's hand. The boy blinked in surprise. His mouth opened but he didn't say anything, though he did pull his hand in protectively towards his body. "Did that hurt?" asked Adam. "No," said Jason. "'Course not." "A blood test would hurt much less than that." "It's true," said Daniel, taking a step closer. "You hardly feel it." "You're trying to get me to have it done, aren't you?" said Jason. Adam nodded, grinning. "Yep. But like I a said a minute ago, if you're dead set against it, I'm not going to force you. I want you to think about what I've been saying, especially the part about how there will probably come a time when you have no choice in the matter. Having it done now is unlikely to cure you of your fear of needles, since that's probably a subconscious thing. But at least you'll know that it doesn't hurt and that should make it a bit easier for you next time." "Besides," said Daniel, "you want that miserable git Trevor to think that he dare do something that you can't?" Jason glared up at his friend, and though he didn't speak, his expression quite clearly asked "What did you have to go and say that for?" He closed his eyes for a moment. "It had better not hurt," he muttered. "Good boy," said Adam, looking relieved. "Roll your sleeve up for me. A few seconds and it will all be over." Jason rolled up his sleeve. His fingers were shaking and his face had once again gone very pale. While Adam tightened the strap around the boy's arm, Craig squatted down next to Jason and took the frightened young teen's other hand in his own. "Keep your eyes closed," suggested Adam. "Try to relax and take deep breaths." He wiped the inside of the boy's elbow with a cotton swab and then pulled out a prepared syringe from under a cloth. "I'm going to count to three." He looked at Craig and silently mouthed the words, "On two." Jason was breathing quickly now, almost panting. He gave a tiny nod of his head. Adam took hold of the boy's arm and held the syringe poised, the point of the needle just a fraction of an inch away from the skin. "One. Two." On two he slid the needle in. At the same moment, Craig squeezed tightly on the boy's other hand. "Ooh!" Jason gasped. "Almost there, Jason," said Adam calmly. "Just a couple more seconds." He pulled the needle back, the tube full of dark-red blood, and pressed a small wad of cotton wool over the tiny puncture. "Done." He placed the syringe to one side and quickly re-covered it with the cloth before putting some tape over the cotton wool on Jason's arm. Jason opened his eyes. "It's done? That's it?" "That's it," said Adam. Jason's face, still pale, split in a wide smile. "It didn't hurt." He looked down at his arm and then held it out as though the small sticking plaster were a trophy. Craig ruffled the boy's hair and then pulled him to his feet and hugged him. "You did great. I wish I could be as brave as that when I come across a spider." Watching, Daniel felt a slight pang of jealousy that Jason seemed to accept the touching and hugging with Craig much more easily than he did with his best friend. Then he reminded himself that only the previous evening the two of them had jerked off together on Daniel's bed. He couldn't imagine Jason doing THAT with Craig. Jason disengaged himself from Craig and, rolling down his sleeve, he looked at Daniel. "Nothing to it," he said with a shrug. ********** The story continues in Chapter 20: Dean's Secret Bag Feedback is encouraged and always much appreciated.
