Hello, I hope you enjoy the first chapter in my series called "A Southern Adonis" All normal disclaimers apply and I reserve copyright. Jase leaned back in his chair, staring at the blank computer screen before him. Mrs. Stevenson, his journalism teacher, had given out her first assignment for the school year. All the students in the Journalism Magnet were to write a one-page report on something exciting that happened to them over the summer. It wasn't that I didn't have something to write about. In fact, I had two things I could do this report on. I could talk about how I moved from Texas to Montgomery, Alabama in early July, and how I am adjusting to life in the Deep South. Or I could write about how my Dad, an Air Force officer, who left two weeks ago for a year-long deployment to Afghanistan, leaving my mom, Cindy, and I alone in this new city. Oh yes, I definitely have stuff to write about. But when my fingers float over the keyboard, my mind gets lost in thought. I miss my pals in Texas, and I wish we never had to move. Then when I think about my Dad, I get scared, sad, and angry all at the same time. What if he gets hurt? He is gonna be gone for a whole year! How could the Air Force just take him from us? It was hard to concentrate, with all these emotions running around in my head. "Omigod Jase! We only have 45 minutes before the bell rings and you haven't even started yet?! You better get a move on or you won't finish in time! You don't want an "Incomplete" on the third day of school, huh?" I was startled by Summer as she brought me out of my deep thought. I had just met the girl three days ago when school started. We gravitated towards each other in this class since we were the only sophomores in Journalism I. And as the first day went on, we discovered that we had all four classes together. We were instant friends by the time the afternoon bell rang at 3:30, and we were basically inseparable at school since then. "Helloooo? Will you stop staring at my boobs and get some work done? Geez! Boys!" she said it with a slight grin and she left to grab her copies of the report out of the printer. Hehehe, if she only knew. Summer is good-looking, beautiful even, but she just isn't my type. Girls aren't my type. I had known I was different since puberty hit me a few years back. I began to notice my buds in a new way, in a sexual way. When I began jackin-off, boys filled my mind. And my dreams at night were filled with what my friends and I could do...at night...alone...Whoa! I've got to quit daydreaming and get a hold of myself before my body does something...embarrassing. I could feel that now common tightening in my pants and began frantically thinking of anything to write that damn paper on. Then it hit me. Shoot-Em-Up 360 came out for X-Box over the summer! I'll write about that! Describing guns, gore, and single- handedly overthrowing an evil regime quickly calmed my runaway hormones and my body calmed down. I hit the print button and turned in my paper just as the bell sounded. "Cutting it pretty close don't ya think?" said Summer as we made our way to our next class. "Yea, well, perfection takes time." "Perfection my ass! I bet you don't even top a B with that report!" "Hehe, I'll bet you're right." "I know I am!" And we giggled all the way to the Drivers Ed classroom. Drivers Ed is probably my most feared and most anticipated class. The teacher, Mr. Davis, is only 25, which is cool. But seeing the simulators and knowing that we will have to drive soon feels me with dread and happiness. We hadn't started using the simulators yet. Mr. Davis told us all on Monday that simulation driving begins next week. We all groaned back to him, but he just laughed at us. For now, we had to read and discuss proper driving techniques. Boring. Mr. Davis didn't care where we sat, as long as we didn't break anything and shut- up when he spoke. Summer and I usually sit next to each other in the front, but today she had gone to be with some of her other friends. I really do need to go on and make friends before people classify me as a loner. I felt a tap on my shoulder and looked up into the most seductive green eyes, ever. "Hey, the names Caden! Mind if I sit next to ya?" "Huh? Oh, oh! Uh, nah man, go ahead. I'm..." "Jase," Caden smiled when he saw my bewildered look, "I got your name when Davis was calling the roll." "Oh, hehehe, cool. Soo, how are ya?" Caden and I talked every second we could in that class. We covered everything from sports we played, to my Dad's deployment; we even had the same taste in video games, lotsa guns and blood! He was awesome; we had a lot in common! Every now and then I would sneak a peek at Caden when he wasn't looking. My God, he is gorgeous! He is about my height with dirty blonde hair that is just long enough that every few minutes he has to brush it out of his eyes which are emerald green. He is maybe 120 lbs, and he has the same year round tan that I have. His lips are so amazing, I wonder what it would be like to kiss them...sigh. Two words describe Caden, gorgeous and sexy. Near the end of class, Caden caught me during one of my peeks. I prepared up some bogus excuse for why I was looking his way. Instead, Caden blushed and got up right as the bell rang. "H-Hey, Jase! Catch ya later dude!" Caden called out as he left the room. I stood there, staring at the door, stunned at what had just occurred. Caden had just caught me checking him out, and didn't do anything. Whoa. Maybe Montgomery isn't as bad as I read. "So, you ready for lunch?" asked Summer. We had First Wave lunch, which is good because the food is still hot when you get to it. We grabbed a table outside in the courtyard and stared at something that looked like a cheeseburger, once. "You gonna introduce me to your friend?" asked Summer. "Huh? Wha...Oh! You mean Caden! Yea, he is pretty awesome! We have like soo much in common!" "Whoa cowboy! Haha! Ya sound like ya have a crush on the boy!" I looked away and started blushing furiously. If I wasn't mistaken, I think I saw Summer with an evil grin on her face. "Shut-up! I don't have a crush on Caden." I said a bit too matter-of-factly. "Uh-huh, hehehe.!" Giggled Summer. Omigod! Please don't tell me she figured me out after only three days! Right then I felt a familiar tapping on my shoulder and for the second time that day I stared up into Caden's beautiful face. "Hey Jase! Mind if I join y'all?" "Hmm? Oh! Sure dude, no problem." "Thanks man!" He sat down next to me and grabbed for some of his fries. God, he was beautiful. I heard Summer cough. He was like an Adonis. Summer coughed again. Look at those lips! Why is he smiling? Summer coughed, again! I looked over at her. "Do you need some milk?!" I asked her, kinda rudely. She looked at me with one of those "you fucking idiot" looks. "Ohh! Summer, this is Caden. Caden, this is Summer." I said. "It's nice to meet you Summer. I was wonderin how long it would take Jase to stop lookin at me and introduce us." I chocked on my milk. And was coughing it all over the place while Summer and Caden just laughed at me. I was scared. I had never told anyone I was gay, and no one ever suspected. What is it about this boy that's makin me lower my defenses? "I was -not- looking at you!" "I'm only joking, bro! Hehehe! But I don't think you need anymore milk! Haha!" Those two were having a grand ole time at my expense. Things calmed down though, and we all seemed to "click" real well. The conversation never got dull, and we laughed a lot. Near the end of lunch, a real pretty girl with brown curly hair and big boobs walked right up to Caden and kissed him on the cheek! "There you are! I was wondering where you ran off to!" she said. She looked at us and smiled, "Hi, y'all! I'm Cassidy, but y'all can call me Cassie! I'm Caden's girlfriend!" DAMN IT! Here I am thinking this could be the boy of my dreams, and he is STRAIGHT! Ugh! Why am I so stupid? "Hey, are you alright? You look like you just got an "F". Everything ok?" Cassie asked. Uh, NO! Nothings "OK"! You just crushed my hopes! "Huh? Oh, yea, I'm fine. Must be the milk." I lied. Summer and Caden started giggling, and once I got it, so did I. Cassie looked at us like we were crazy. After we stopped laughing, Summer and I introduced ourselves to Cassie. Even if she did just blow out what little spark I had that Caden was like me and might like me, she was still a nice girl. "Hey Cassie, lets go for a walk. I gotta talk to you about something...private" said Caden. "Ok, cutie. I guess I'll see you two around! Bye!" said Cassie. We said our goodbyes and watched as Cassie and Caden walked hand in hand to wherever they were going. And I started sulking again. "So you wanna tell me whats up?" asked Summer. "Umm, what are you talking about?" "I'm talking about the way you were goo-goo over Caden, then looked like a sad puppy when Cassie introduced herself. Whats goin on, Jase?" Oh shit! Was I that obvious? I've never let my guard down before! How could I be so careless? "Umm, n-nothings up. I was just trying to be friendly to Caden. And besides, it's the milk. In fact, I feel a bit sick. I'm going to the bathroom. I'll see ya in class, bye!" I said. "Ok. Fine, whatever. I'll save a seat for you in Geometry." "K! See ya then, bye!" I got up, threw my trash away, and headed for the nearest bathroom. I took the furthest stall and once I was sure nobody else was in here, I tried to talk some sense into myself. "Ok Jase. What the fuck are you doin? Huh? You're losing control dude! Sure, Caden is amazingly hot, but he is waaaay outta my league! He can have any girl he wants, and he already has her. Why would he want you?" I heard the bathroom door swing open and instinctively pulled my feet off the ground so they wouldn't be visible. I heard whoever it was walk over to the mirrors and and heard them talk. "I can do this. I'm pretty sure he is like me, and that he likes me. I can do this." Before I could force myself to look and see who this boy was, I heard footsteps and I froze in place.
