My firstborn had been outed as being gay by one of his so-called friends. The child who I had thought of as mine, had treated as mine for almost all his life had attacked his own brother. I sat there cleaning my battered son's face as my husband paced the floor looking equal part's scared and furious. I shared the feeling. I couldn't have been prepared for seeing Zane kicking his brother in the ribs as he lay unconscious on the floor if I'd had a thousand years. I had never seen such a look of fury and hatred as I had seen on him then. He was my son, but I was so angry with him that I needed him out of my sight for fear of how I would react. I suspected that Evan felt the same way. "Bear" Trey whispered as I rubbed some salve into his ribs. "What?" I asked. Evan came over and sat down with us. "Need Bear" he managed to get out. I still wasn't sure how I felt about this whole Trey and Bear thing. I guess if I thought about it this whole thing was inevitable with how close they've always been, but I still wasn't there yet. What was important now though was that my injured son wanted to talked to the boy he loved, and I knew that hearing Bear's voice would make him feel better. "I'll call him" I said as I got up and pulled out my phone. Evan took up my place putting salve on his bruises. He had so much love and pain in his eyes that my already broken heart broke even more. I was reminded of how much I loved this man. I called Bear's phone but it went straight to voicemail. I couldn't imagine him turning off his phone at a time like this. I tried again and again I got voicemail. I decided to call April. "Olivia" she answered stiffly "April, I need to speak to Bear" I said "I don't think that's a good idea" she responded still stiffly. "What's up with you?" I asked her wondering what was the deal. I guess it was obvious that they knew. "Olivia, I have to-" she started but then I heard the background. "Tell her to keep her faggot away from my son" I heard Larry say in the background clearly so he must have shouted it. I went into the hallway as I knew that I was about to lose my temper and I didn't want Trey to hear. "You tell him that he better not let me see him calling my son names because he won't be walking anymore" I stated. "I won't be telling him anything. I think it's best that you don't call here for a while" April said. "Oh so you're gonna do this? They love each other and Trey needs to talk to him" I said getting more worked up. "Shut Up! You don't know what the hell you're talking about!" she yelled and pissed me off. "I do know what the hell I'm talking about. Your son is gay. Just like my son is gay, and they are gay for each other. You have to accept it just like I do" I said yelling. I knew that Trey was hearing me, but maybe that was for the best because it seemed my true feeling were coming to the surface the angrier I got. Sadly though so were April's. "Shut up! Shut the hell up! I don't want to hear anymore, goodbye Olivia" she yelled then hung up. Bye to you too, bitch. I walked back into Trey's room and saw him looking at me with tears in his eyes. I had no clue what he was feeling. I just knew that he was my son, and I hoped that was all I needed to deal with this. "I need Bear" he managed to choke out. "I know sweetie, but he's not answering his phone and his mother wouldn't let me talk to him" I said and the pained look on his face hurt to see. "Son, we'll see what we can do" Evan said to him but I didn't know what we could do because April and Larry sounded adamant that they didn't want Trey seeing Bear. I was gonna have to have a talk with Larry to remind him of where he came from acting like he's better than everybody. As I looked at my son I still had trouble seeing him as gay, but no matter what I saw him as my son and that was all that was important for now. ***************************************************************** SEAN'S POV Headlines: Bear Davidson is Gay! It was pandemonium. Okay, that's an exaggeration but the school was alive with the buzz. I had heard all kinds of things but the central theme seemed to be that Trey and Bear were caught. Damn that had to suck. "So, I see that the news is out," Veronica said as she walked up. "What the hell happened?" she asked. I was sitting at home Saturday evening when my phone started blowing up with texts and calls from people wanting to know if I'd heard that Bear was gay and screwing Trey. I was shocked because I hadn't expected to hear it like this. I had just saw Trey earlier that day and he gave no indication that he was about to come out. Then Jessica called me and told me about the whole sordid affair. I knew that I didn't like that fucker Drake and now I was proven right. I tried to call Trey but his phone went straight to voicemail. I started to go over there but my brother told me that maybe it wasn't a good idea. I had a feeling there was something Jessica wasn't telling me but she said she'd tell me when she saw me Monday so I decided to be patient. "Drake is a bastard is what happened" I said as I saw the devil himself strutting down the hall. Before I knew it I was charging for him. I heard Veronica calling out to me but I wasn't hearing it. I just had to get my hands on Drake, preferably around his throat and I'd feel better. I reached him and saw him smirk likely about to spit some smartass remark but I stopped that by slamming him up against a locker. "What the fuck!" he said hotly "I know what you did to Trey you bastard. I'm gonna kick your ass" I snapped. "Oh that", he said with a smirk. "I see Jessica must have told you about it. It was grand how I finally put your fag friend in his place" he said sounding proud of himself. "Is that right? Well I guess it's now time I put you in yours" I said as I pulled back my fist to drive it into his dammed face, but Veronica grabbed my arm before I could follow-through. She was way stronger than I thought. "Sean, you wanna get suspended? You can't hit the jackass" he said then shot Drake a brief glare. "You got me confused with your friends Trey and Bear. I don't do ass" he said probably thinking he was being clever but sounded like an idiot. We were drawing a crowd which meant that it was only a matter of time before a teacher showed up. "I'm gonna fuck you up you evil motherfucker" I said as I tightened my grip on him. "Again I have to say I'm not down like that. It does answer some questions about why you and Trey got so close so fast though. I always thought you two being so friendly all of a sudden was suspicious but I guess now I have my answer. You're probably queering around with him too. All of you football jocks are fags anyway" he said acting like he wasn't so close to my killing him. "Very funny fucker, now I think it's my turn" I said as I drove my knee into his nuts as hard as I could seeing as Veronica still had my arm in a vice-grip. I felt guilty about doing it seeing as how I was a guy who could appreciate how vulnerable a spot that was to be hit in but I had to hit him and I was low on options. "Ohh!" he groaned loudly as he grabbed his nuts and fell to his knees. I suddenly didn't feel all that guilty. "You fucker, I'm gonna kick your ass" he groaned out through the pain. "Yeah I'd like to see your try" I said as I watched him try to get up but wasn't able. This caused me to smirk. That was until we were interrupted. "Is there a problem here?" I heard being asked by our vice-principal Dr. Meadows. "No there's no problem here Dr. Meadows. I was just trying to help Drake up after he tripped and banged his head on his locker" I lied. He didn't look like he believed me for a second. "Yeah and that's why he's holding his crotch, because he hit his head?" Dr. Meadows asked. "Yes sir" I said putting on my most convincing face with Veronica adding to it. "Uh huh. I better not catch you or hear of you "helping" him anymore on school property Mr. Mellow, is that clear" he said and I reluctantly agreed. "Alright break it up and get ready for class" he said dispersing the crowd. He then watched me until I left with Veronica trailing behind me. "That was close. You know Dr. Meadows isn't like the other faculty here at school Sean. He doesn't care that you're the quarterback of the championship football team. You wanna get suspended" she said but she didn't know she was pissing me off. "What do you expect me to do Ronnie?" I asked. "Trey is my friend and that bastard is trying his best to paint him in the worst light he can so he can get as many people as possible to hate him" I finished feeling like I wanted to hit Drake again. "Look I know this hits close to home with Marcus and especially Wayne but what good is it gonna do Trey for you to get suspended from school?" she asked me and I was without words. I then saw Jessica walking down the hall with a somber look on her face. When we made eye contact I knew something was up which is why I found myself rushing toward her. "Hey, where's Trey?" I asked quickly but she still looked bad which was doing nothing for me. "Jessica what is it?" Veronica asked. She lead us to the alcove near the entrance to the school's main building where there was some privacy. "Trey might not be in any time this week. He will be absent for sure for a few days" she said glumly. "Why? I mean I know everyone knows and some people might give him a hard time but with us and especially Bear he won't have anything to worry about" I said but feeling there was something else. "Bear's father knows about him too. Me and Justice left Trey's with him and went home with him but he sent us to check on Trey in his truck after his dad came storming out of the house and yelled for him to come inside" she said. "Let me guess, Drake called him" Veronica inquired. "I guess, I mean I don't know. I haven't been able to get in touch with him and his dad wasn't offering up anything when he came to my house to pick up Bear's truck that night" she added. "I haven't been able to reach him either" I said. I had tried his cell and his parent's phone. I was really hoping that he was alright. "Trey needs him after what happened but I can't get in touch with him" she said and the way she said it made my blood run cold. "What happened to him? Did something else happen?" I asked because I needed to know. Jessica was silent for a minute before she spoke. "Justice and I went back to Trey's after we left Bear's house and when we got there his sisters came running down the stairs telling us to help Trey, that we needed to save him and-" she said before I cut in. "No, please don't say it" I said dreading what she was about to say. I knew he feared what his dad would do if he were to find out he was gay and I just could feel that he had done something to Trey and my blood boiled. "We went upstairs and found Trey beaten, bloody, and unconscious with Zane still beating him, and Calvin standing there watching" she said and I heard Veronica gasp and she was holding her hand to her mouth with wide eyes when I looked at her. I was boiling mad now. I was mad at both Zane and Drake, and even Calvin some too. She went on to tell us about how she and Justice had tried to stop Zane but Calvin had pulled her out of the room before Zane locked them out and went on to beat on Trey, how she was sure he had thrown Justice up against the wall which had been confirmed by Justice later that night. How Trey's father had kicked in the door to his room and how scared he looked as he threw Zane back off his brother, how terrified his mother had been when she begged Trey to wake up, to answer her. How they both cried thinking he was dead until he called out to his mother in a weak voice. She told me about how bruised and bloody his face was and how bruised his torso was. She then surprised me when she told us how Justice had apparently kicked Zane's ass. About how they had left for a while but then came back for a bit and Trey was asleep but his parents were watching him like a hawk. She said she had called me around that time but couldn't tell me over the phone about what had happened. "Is Trey okay" Veronica asked softly. "He was doing better than he was when I saw him on the floor unconscious" she said and I could hear the emotion in her voice and see her teary eyes. I looked at Veronica and saw that she had shed a few silent tears of her own. "I'm gonna go see him" I said heading for the entrance. I just had to see him, to know he was alright. "Sean wait, you can't just leave school, not with it almost about to start. You're already on thin ice with Dr. Meadows" Veronica said rationally, damn her. "She's right. Look we can go to see him after school but for now lets just go to class. I also gotta find Bear. I gotta see if he came to school today" Jessica said. Just then the warning bell rang which meant we needed to get to homeroom fast. "Okay, I'll tell you if I see him first" I said to her. "Me too" Veronica said. We then broke and headed our separate ways but all I could think about was Trey being at home all beaten and bruised. Who would want to hurt such an innocent loving guy like Trey? I just had to see him. ***************************************************************** JESSICA'S POV I felt horrible when I woke up this morning. This weekend had been hell and nothing had really happened to me. I couldn't even fathom what it was like for Bear and especially Trey. After leaving Trey's house we drove around for a while but then we just had to go back to check on him. He was asleep and we just sat with him with his mother laying a hand on him every once in a while. His parents were the definition of hovering that night. Zane fortunately had the decency to be gone when we got back and I don't know if Calvin was with him or not because we didn't see or hear him all the time we were there. The twins came and sat with us and I know they were young but they at least had some idea of what had happened. We finally went home about nine that evening and Justice decided that she'd stay over at my place as she didn't think it would be a good idea to go home for fear of what she might do to Liberty. I agreed seeing what she had done to Zane. We were in my room after having escaped my brother who was panting after Justice when the storm of Lawrence Davidson descended on my house. He was all cold and hate filled as he came and demanded his son's keys. My dad tried to speak civilly to him but he was all snappish and told my dad to bring me out so he could get his son's keys. My dad called me but he didn't do kindly. I knew though that he didn't mean his hostility toward me. I came out and he demanded the keys in a harsh voice. My father tried to interrupt but Mr. Davidson wasn't having it. "Look just give me my son's keys and I can get out of here" Mr. Davidson said harshly. "Bear told me to keep his truck until HE came and got it" I said with an edge. "I don't give a damn what he told you. I want the keys, Now!" he snapped. "Now wait just a minute. You don't get to come into my house and talk to my daughter like that" me dad said jumping in. "I'll be more than happy to leave your dammed house as soon as your dammed daughter gives me the keys to my son's dammed truck" he said. This man had officially pissed me off. "Go fuck yourself old man. Who the hell do you think you are talking to my sister like that" my little brother Wally spat shocking me. "Wally!" both my parents shouted. "Go to your room Wally" Dad said. "No way. I'm not leaving with this bastard here talking to Jess like that" he countered. My dad pretended to be mad but I saw the slight smile on his face. "Everyone chill" I said trying to stop this impending disaster. "Here you are Mr. Davidson" I said as harshly as I could and then slammed the keys into his hand. "Don't expect to hear from my son again, and don't call or come to my house again. Tell that to your friends, especially... Trey" he said saying Trey's name with such distaste then stormed out. I was forced to recount the events of today and I did sans the beating that Trey received. I didn't want things to get more out of hand by one of them feeling the urge to call the police. If the Healey's didn't want them involved I could honor that. They expressed their anger and Dad said that he never liked Drake in the first place. Mom almost spoke not kindly about Liberty but then she remember that her twin sister was right here so she held her tongue, but Justice did smirk as she realized what had happened. It's one thing to think your own sister is a bitch but to hear someone else say it to your face is something completely different so I'm sure she respected my mom's restraint. Now that I was at school I had to track down Bear. After homeroom I was walking toward his locker when I was pulled into a janitor's closet and the door was shut quickly. I was about to start screaming and fighting when a really big hand came up to cover my mouth. I started struggling hard then when the light came on and I saw it was Bear. Damn this guy was big up close. I wondered why I never noticed that before. Standing there this close to him I noticed a lot of things about him I hadn't before but that wasn't the time for that. "Bear" I said but he shushed me. "Calm down Jess" he said. He looked so sad and so much had happened since I had seen him last that I just collapsed on him and started to cry. He wrapped his arms around me and I knew then how Trey could love this guy. He just had this protective strength that seemed to surround him and now he was allowing me to feel it. He spoke calming telling me everything was gonna be fine. "Bear, everything is not gonna be fine. Where were you all weekend?" I spoke getting worked up. "I've been on lock-down. My dad took my cell and my landline out of my room. He took everything but my books" He spoke with so much spite toward his dad which I could relate to. "What do you mean that everything's not gonna be fine" he said looking wary. I didn't know now if I could tell him about this. "Trey needs you Bear. He needs you really bad" I said trying to ease into it. "I know I need to see him too. I just got to at least touch him, if even for a minute" he said and I saw he was telling the truth from the desperate look on his face. I decided to just lay it out there. "Trey needs you Bear, but not to just touch you. You were right to send us back over to Trey's house" I said and I didn't like the cryptic tone in my voice. "Why" he said coldly, and I could see his fists balled so tight I could see his knuckles turn white. I recounted the whole thing to him from arriving at Trey's house to his dad showing up at my house to get his truck. The range of emotions that played across his face were impressive. Fear, terror, anger, fury, sadness, desperation. These were the feelings I saw and I sympathized with him. "How is he doing now?" he asked in such a cold voice that it chilled me to the bone. I had never heard Bear speak like that. "Justice and I went over yesterday to see him. He was mostly sleeping though, but he wasn't too bad when he was awake" I said and the stormy look on his face worsened. "I need to see him" he said as he put his hand on the doorknob but seemed to freeze in place. "I can't" he said in a pained voice. "Why not?" I asked. "Trey needs you." "My dad is watching me. At least he has eyes on me" he said in a sad voice. "Excuse me? He has eyes on you?" I asked because it sounded crazy. "He said he didn't want me having anything else to do with Trey, Liberty, Drake, Justice, or you. I could definitely honor the Drake and Liberty part, and he doesn't know that Sean is so close to Trey so he didn't mention him" he said. "Well that doesn't explain what you mean by he's watching you" I said even though I was definitely not liking that man. "I was gonna go over to Trey's house so I tried to sneak out Saturday night but he was waiting when I climbed down the tree outside my window that night. He had it cut down yesterday. Then I heard him talking to someone on the phone last night telling them that he wanted them to keep a close eye on me and tell him if I had any contact with any of you" he said and that just pissed me completely off. "Hold on" I said as I got my phone out and dialed Trey's cell phone, but it went straight to voicemail. I called his mother and she picked up. "Hello, Jessica?" she asked answering the phone. "Hi Mrs. Healey, is Trey awake?" I asked and hoped like hell he was. "Well yes but shouldn't you be in school?" she asked. "I am, I just need to talk to him right now" I said with urgency. "I don't think you need to upset him with what everyone-" she started but I cut in. "Please Mrs. Healey, I need to talk to him" I said and I hoped my tone told her how important it was. She told me to hold on and I put the phone on speaker. "Hello" Trey said in a weak and scared voice. "Baby, it's me" Bear said in a rushed voice. "Bear, it that you? I need you" Trey said sounding like he was gonna cry which broke my heart and had me almost in tears as well. "Trey baby I'm so sorry I wasn't there. I'm so sorry I left you. Please forgive me baby, please" Bear said in a pleading, broken voice which did cause a few tears to fall. "It's not your fault big guy" he said getting choked up. "I love you Trey, remember that. I'll always love you. I'll find a way to see you soon" Bear said getting choked up himself. "What do you mean you'll find a way?" he asked. "Jess will tell you" Bear answered and we heard the warning bell for next period. "Trey this is Jessica and we gotta go, but I'll be by after school" I said. He asked if Bear was coming but Bear said he couldn't but he'd see him soon. It hurt to hear how much these two boys wanted to be together and couldn't be. The world was a fucked up place sometimes. We hung up and Bear broke down and cried and I held him and comforted him. I knew then that I had to help him, help them to get together even if that meant going to war with his bastard father. We said goodbye for now and he told me to leave the closet and he'd leave after I did. I texted Sean on the sly during second period to tell him that we couldn't be seen together in school anymore. I had some plans and one of them had to do with Sean. I saw Liberty in the classes we shared and I tried to ignore her and she did the same to me and Bear when we were in together in 4th period. I didn't care because that bitch could go fuck herself and her jackass boyfriend too. Many people came up to me asking if the rumors were true but I didn't confirm anything. I saw Alicia one time and I could swear the girl looked like someone had stabbed her dog in front of her. In some small way I was happy about what had happened as that would be the end of her aspiration to be with Bear. I saw Miriam near the end of the school day and she came up to me and I wondered where this was going. "Hey Jessica" she said kind of nervously. "Hey Miriam" I responded. She looked at me and I just couldn't lie to her for some reason. "Yes it's true but you can't tell anyone. Let them continue to speculate and wonder if it's true." "I kind of had a feeling about his feelings for Bear but I never in a billion years would have guessed that Bear was into him too. I guess in retrospect they were kind of the same toward each other so if I was suspecting one I should have suspected the other, huh" she said. "Hindsight is 20/20" is all I said in response. "Yeah it is. Kenji isn't happy about this. He said it better not be true or Trey better stay away from him because he didn't want any queer friends" she said. "Damn" was all I could say. We talked for a few more minutes but I didn't tell her about what had happened to him. I thought that was best if he did that whenever he was ready. We finally split up when it was time for class. After school I texted Justice and she called me right back. We talked and I told her everything Bear had told me. We made a plan that I would get a prepaid phone for Bear and pass it to him through Sean. I just had no idea how I do that with my avoiding contact with him to be on the safe side, but I would come up with something. Later that night a plan formed in my mind and I would use Miriam and Veronica as pieces of the puzzle. ***************************************************************** BEAR'S POV This day started out bad and just got worse. Over the weekend I had to endure hearing that man say all kinds of shit about Trey and every time I started to do something to the fucker my mom got in the way. She was different now too as she was cold toward me when she wasn't trying to stop me from killing her damned husband. I tried to sneak out of the window Saturday night but he was waiting for me at the bottom and just said "just try me Barry" in a spiteful tone. I was barely able to restrain myself and I crawled back up the tree. He had it cut down the next day, and I guess he was rallying spies to tell him if I talked to any of the group. I got to school and expected to see Trey, but what I got was the whole school knowing our business and thinking all kinds of stuff about me and Trey. I knew Drake had done it but I couldn't find the bastard to kill him. I saw Liberty though and she glared at me before walking in the opposite direction. I promptly forgot her because if she wanted to be a bitch then that was all on her. I ducked into a janitor's closet after making sure no one was watching me then waited for Jessica or Sean as I knew she would tell him something about Trey as I knew at this point that he hadn't come to school. I had this nagging sick feeling in the pit of my gut and it was given a name when I saw Jessica. To hear that Zane had hurt my Trey made me want to beat HIM to a bloody pulp then light the bastard on fire. When I talked to him it almost destroyed me to hear his broken, sad, desperate voice. It wasn't right that someone so sweet and innocent was done so wrong. Thinking about it made me so angry that it worried me. Being at school wasn't real fun at all what with all the stares and whispers. It was strange though that none of my teammates had even approached me. I guess they didn't wanna be associated with the fag jock but I figured that I'd hear what they thought sooner or later as we had practice today. What was weird though other than the fact that I hadn't seen Drake all day so I could throttle the fucker was that Sean hadn't said anything to me. I didn't have any classes with him but I at least expected him to say something at some point. I headed for practice after school and I was actually happy to do so because setting in class glaring at Drake and him looking smug at me was not a fun time when the whole time I wanted to rip his ass out through his mouth. As I approached the locker room I heard kind of loud speak that I was sure was about me because when I went in the room fell silent. I looked at them and they looked at me and they were silent. It was unnerving how silent the room was. I looked at each one on the guys to judge their reaction to me. I looked and saw Sean and he smiled and winked at me. Patrick Clarke, a running back on the team was the first to speak. "So Bear, I guess you've heard the rumors that have been floating around. That fucker Drake has been calling you a fag all over school and I say we find all those baseball sissies and kick their asses" Pat said and I guess I knew where I stood with him. Troy Daly and Carter Matthews stood with him so I knew where this was going, but despite that I decided that it didn't matter anymore. It was out there now so I'd better own it. I looked over at Sean again and he seemed to know what I was thinking as he smiled and nodded to me with a smile then gave me a discreet thumbs-up. "Drake is an idiot. He's a jackass, a loser, an evil lying bastard who I truly regret becoming friends with and investing time being friends with" I said and they were nodding like I was debunking whatever they had heard. "He however is not lying about me and Trey. We are together, and have been for weeks now. I love him and he loves me and anybody that has a problem with Trey has a problem with me" I finished adding that last part as the threat that it was meant to be. "You fucking crazy?" this was said by Zev Collins a wide receiver who I didn't like before but was liking even less now. "You come in here telling us that Drake isn't lying. That he's telling the truth about you being a cocksucker? "Shut the fuck up Zev" Sean snapped. "Who's gonna make me?" he asked stepping towards Sean. "Your Quarterback that's who" Sean said with authority. Everyone knew that Sean was the captain of the team. That what he said carried weight and he was speaking about this so they would have to listen. "Sean we know that Trey is suddenly your new best friend. Is he sucking your dick too?" Troy asked and I was about to go and put my fist through his face when coach came into the room. "I see we have a problem here" Coach Davis stated. "Yeah coach we do. Bear is a fag and I ain't playing on a team with a fag" Zev spoke loudly. Coach stared him down for about a minute then he called for me to follow him which I did. I guess the guys thought I was about to be kicked off the team. I wondered as well. We walked into his office and I took a seat in one of the two chairs that sat in front of his desk. He surprised me by sitting on the edge of his desk in front of me instead of taking a seat at his desk. "Okay, you wanna start of should I" he said and while he didn't sound angry or even the tiniest bit disgusted to find out he had a gay player, I was still wary. "I'm gay coach. Well Trey says I'm not but I keep telling him that if I get hard over him that I must be gay but try telling him that" I said then I thought of what I had just said and I actually felt my whole body heat up. I'm sure I was beet red. "Well, that certainly was a lot of personal information son" Coach said with a slight smile and chuckle. "I'm sorry coach. I don't know what I was thinking. I guess I'm just under a lot of stress and I need to see Trey. I need to touch him, kiss him and I'll be okay" I said again running off at the mouth. I looked at Coach and he was still looking at me with that slight smile but now he was shaking his head at me. "Sorry again coach." "All I'll say is you better reign in that tongue before you say the wrong thing" he said after a minute of silence. I was stumped because all of what I'd said should have been the wrong thing to say to a football coach but he didn't seem the least shocked or disgusted about this. "Why are you not screaming and ranting and raving about me being a fag on your football team?" I asked. "Well I wouldn't do anything like that because what you do behind closed doors and who you do it with is none of my business. All I need to know is if you can come to practice and give your all. That you can go onto the field and play your heart out. That you give me everything you have when it comes to football" he said eloquently and I was impressed. "You sure? I know gays and sports don't mix well, especially gays and locker rooms" I said because I had done some reading about gay athletes and the statistics weren't good. "I'm sure I don't care who you sleep with. In fact I'm actually all for what you have now compared to what you were doing before. Besides I kind of already knew" he said with a grin. I thought back to that day when I was rushing to talk to Trey and figured that he did see through me after all. "I thought I had covered myself that day I was rushing out of here" I said. "Well you didn't as well as you think but that's not what confirmed what I had been suspecting for a while now" he responded. "Well what did?" I asked curiously. "I became suspicious when your playing turned to shit after you two who I have always known to be close friends stopped hanging out. Then you got back into step suddenly right after you two became friends again. Then it was that day when you said you had a date. I happened to be outside and I saw you two and you were, well I guess I'd say different around each other than you usually were. You had a swagger and I haven't ever seen a guy swagger for anyone except someone he was into. I also happened to be here when you two came back that night and I saw you two kissing in your truck so that was the dead giveaway" he said. I was shocked because I didn't even think to check to see if there was anybody nearby or in the school who could have been looking when Trey and I made out that night. I guess that was a moot point though right now. He told me that it didn't matter to him but it was up to the team rather or not they wanted to play with me. He asked if I was ready to face the music again and I decided that I was ready even if I had to leave the team. That I would leave if I had to because Trey meant the world to me and even though football had been one of my greatest accomplishments, Trey came first. We got up and went back into the locker room and the silence fell over the room again, Assistant Coach Miller came and joined us. "It has come to my attention that one of my players is gay. Now I know with guys, especially jocks, the first reaction is to rebel against this. I will say that I have no problems with Bear being gay" he said and several guys spoke up and then the whole room erupted into chaos. "Quiet!" Asst. Coach Miller shouted. "Shut your asses up now." "Thanks Bobby" Coach said with a small smile. "Now I said I have no problems with Bear being gay. I say this because I have no doubt that Bear is not the first gay guy that has played for me. Hell he probably isn't the only gay guy in this room right now" he said with a smirk and the room went quiet as the guys all started eyeing each other stupidly trying to see if they had another homo among the ranks. "Yeah, we know that Mellow is probably a butt pirate too seeing as he's suddenly besties with Bear's fuck buddy" Zev said. Asst. Coach Miller grabbed my arm as I started toward him. Dale did the same for Sean. "You know what Zev? Maybe it's true. Maybe I am gay like Bear" Sean said and I shook my head as this guy was unreal. "Yeah me too. I'm gay. I'm like super gay" Dale said as he cocked his waist and put his hands on his waist while batting his eyes. "Yeah I'm gay too. I'm dating Sean" Donnie Carlson said then blew Sean a kiss. "Ack, bunch of fags" Zev said. "You know, statistically, those who protest the loudest to homosexuality are more likely to be a closet homosexual themselves Zev" said Glen Neely. He was our resident smart guy. Well he wasn't near the level of Trey and Justice but he was smarter than I'm sure every other guy in this room, which is why he was dubbed "poindexter." "Shove it poindexter" replied Zev. "Alright, that's enough. We are a team and I say that we play as a team. Bear is one of the best players I've ever seen, not to mention possibly the biggest teenager I ever laid eyes upon. So I say that he's not going anywhere. Anybody that has a problem playing with him on the team, you can leave through that door right there" Coach said pointing at the entrance to the locker room. After a minute no one moved so I guess that they weren't gonna leave. That didn't mean that they magically accepted me though. Coach then told us to get ready for practice and a lot of the guys gave me a wide berth but the guys who defended me each came up and patted me on the back before going to get ready themselves. The next day I was headed down the hall when Sean met me and asked me to go to the bathroom with him. I told him how weird that would seem at this current time, but he didn't care. When we were alone in the bathroom he gave me a cell phone and told me that Jessica had given it to him through Veronica who had gotten it from Miriam. I asked him what the phone was for and he said this situation had made me stupid. I then thought what it was for and immediately called Trey's phone which I saw the number had been programmed into this phone. He answered sounding a bit better than the day before especially when he knew that it was me who was calling. Talking to him even on the phone eased the ache that had developed all over my body, but especially in my chest. It felt good to know I could now talk to him whenever I wanted. Sean made sure I knew to keep that phone out of sight when around other people. I felt good all day even with all the stares, whispers and some glares I received at school. I wasn't worried because I could take care of myself. Besides I had my boys with me. Sean, Dale, Donnie and Glenn had become my new crew and I guess my dad either wasn't really watching me or didn't see a problem with me hanging with them. He probably thought it was a good idea as being around a bunch a macho guys would probably un-gay me. I felt bad though because while I had Dale, Donnie, and Glen at lunch, Jessica was alone without Trey at school and being on the outs with the jackass couple of Drake and Liberty. She had some people to hang out with but they weren't close friends like we were. Sean had told me that she had told him to keep his distance from her because she might be able to use that. I knew then that it was because if I was being watched, Sean would be able to get close to me without drawing my dad's anger. That meant though that while this whole thing went on that Sean would have to avoid Trey as well when he came back to school. I felt good though because I had spoken to Trey and I would call him later. I felt good when I went home to my dad's disgusted glare and my mom's silence. I felt good until my dad barged into my room while I was doing my homework. He didn't even knock the fucker, and he was looking majorly pissed. "Where is it?" he demanded. "Where's what?" I responded harshly while standing up. "The phone. Where's the fucking phone?" he said and I wondered how he knew about it. Did he have the boys room bugged or wired for video or something. I played dumb though. "I don't know what the fuck you're talking about" I barked out with as much malice as I could. "Watch your fucking mouth when you talk to me and don't play dumb with me. I know you have a phone on you" he said with a scowl. He couldn't really know could he? "I don't-" I started before he took this small gadget out of his pocket. "You see this. This my son is a cellular signal detector. Very high end device. You see all I have to do is program a cell phone number into it and it alerts me when a phone without that number is in the vicinity of it. So I programmed your mother's and mine into it, and it tells me there is a phone with an unrecognized number in the house" he spoke looking smug like he had outsmarted me. "I don't-" I started to say even though I didn't know what I would say. I was beyond pissed off so I just got the phone and gave it to him. "I don't know where you got this or how but I'm watching you Barry" he said spitefully. "My name is Bear" I seethed. "I'm watching you Barry" he said putting emphasis on my name before turning and walking out the door. I slammed it behind him and collapsed on the bed. I had told Trey I would call him later tonight, and now he was gonna wonder why I hadn't. Something had to change before that man pushed me too far. I was already feeling an old feeling returning. I didn't like it because the last time I was like that someone had gotten hurt. Something had to give soon before it was too late. ***************************************************************** SEAN'S POV I was surprised with how little resistance Bear's coming out had received. Just a few outspoken assholes was less than I was expecting. I was walking down the hall Wednesday and saw Liberty and Drake and they looked like they were in the middle of an argument but I didn't give two shits what it was about. As far as I was concerned they could both go to hell. I saw Jessica at her locker and I wanted to talk to her but I remembered that she had wanted us to keep our distance in case Bear was being watched by someone. I saw Bear slumped against his locker and went over to see what was up. I knew it wasn't the real thing but I figured that at least talking to Trey would lift him up a bit. I walked up and put my hand on his shoulder. When he turned I could see the nearly defeated look in his eyes and I knew something was up. "He took the phone" he said before I could even open my mouth. I was surprised and just told him to follow me. I didn't need anyone hearing this. We went to the boys room and I made sure no one was in there before I spoke. "Okay, how the hell did he find out about the phone? Did he catch you talking to Trey man?" I asked him. "I didn't even get the chance to call him again. My dad had some kind of device that let him know when it detected a cell phone signal nearby whose phone number didn't match the ones programmed into it" he said and I had to admit that it was a clever move. "Damn man that's rough" was all I could say. "Rough? Sean it's killing me not being able to see him. I would go over there right now if I wasn't worried about what that fucker would do to Trey if I did" he said with a mix of desperation and rage in his voice. "I'm sure his dad wouldn't allow that dude" I said trying to reassure him. I hadn't actually been to see him yet myself because it didn't feel right with me going over there when his own boyfriend could get to him. I would go when Bear was able to go. "You don't know that Sean. I want to be with him so bad. To see him, touch him, kiss him. I need him but I couldn't live with myself if my selfishness caused something else bad to happen to him" he said and hearing that really tore me up inside which was saying something because I wasn't the type to be easily moved by this kind of stuff. I did the only thing I could and pulled him into a tight hug. I wasn't Trey but I was at least another male body and maybe he could draw some strength from me to keep him from giving up. "Aw would you look a that. Fags hugging in the bathroom" I heard Zev say. We separated and saw him standing with a couple other guys from the team who weren't vocal about their dislike with having a gay guy on the team but they obviously didn't like it. "Guys, back off. Now isn't the time for this bullshit" I said with as much spite as I could muster. "Yeah I can see you two were about to make out. Gee Bear what happened to Trey? We haven't seen him at school the last few days and now you're here making time with Sean? Guess he wasn't as good a fuck as I expected for you to turn fag over him if you're now with Mellow over here" he said. I was about to tell him to go jump off a bridge when I heard what sounded like growling. I knew that sound but it sounded much more serious this time than when I heard it on the field. I looked at Bear and it was indeed coming from him. He looked scary and ready to kill. His eyes which were normally blue had darkened and every visible muscle in his body was tensed. I honestly hadn't ever seen him like this. "Get out now" Bear snarled. "Get out before I rip your beating heart from your chest and shove it back down your fucking throat" he said and just his words carried such murderous intent that they actually hurt to hear. "Dude, maybe we should go" said Jake who was cornerback on he team. The other guys agreed but Zev being the idiot he was wasn't one to back down. "Why should I go anywhere because-" he started to say before Bear let out a loud growl and lunged at him. I was barely able to restrain him before he actually got to him. "I'll kill you! I'll rip you apart piece by piece if you even utter Trey's name again!" he said in a loud snarl and I wondered if anyone outside the room could hear this. The other douches managed to talk Zev into fleeing the bathroom and I tried to calm Bear down but it was like he wasn't even hearing me. He finally came to and was shaking like a tree. "Did I hurt anybody?" he asked sounding scared. "No I was able to keep you back. What was that man?" I asked him because I truly hadn't ever seen Bear like that before. I didn't think he ever got really mad, especially like that. "It's nothing... I gotta go" he said as he rushed out of the bathroom and I was left to wonder what the hell that was. ************************************************************************************* JESSICA'S POV I was walking down the hall toward lunch on Wednesday and I was again pulled into a room. I really needed to be more aware of my surroundings. I expected to see Bear but who I got was Sean instead. He told me about what had happened in the bathroom and about what had happened with Bear's dad. I guess that was one for him but I still had something up my sleeve, and I guess it was now time to do it. I knew that I was gonna need Sean at some point. I told him that I would think about what I would need from him. I was sure I could come up with something by the end of the day. I left the storeroom and ran smack dab into Liberty. "What the hell" she said angrily before looking up and seeing it was me. "What the hell back" I replied with a scowl. "Oh it's you" she said with a bit of spite. "Right back at ya Liberty" I said in the most condescending tone I could muster. "Jess, can we stop this?" she asked but I wasn't having it. "No we can't" I said hotly. "Why, because of Trey?" she asked saying his name like it was something bitter on her tongue. "You know damned well it's about Trey" I responded. "What does he have to do with us? Why should he affect whether or not we're friends?" she actually had the nerve to ask. "It does, Liberty, because I'm not friends with people who turn their backs on their friends when they need them the most" I spoke getting really angry with her. I mean how dare she do this to Trey, and over a douchebag like Drake too. "I need you" she said and I almost cracked with the tone she used but I was strong. I decided to hit her hard. "Aw you don't need me boo-boo, because you have Drake. How is Drake by the way?" I said saying his name with every ounce of hate that he deserved. "He's fine" she said coldly. "Then run along back to your little douchebag boyfriend and don't worry about us or the damage your douchebag has caused Trey and Bear, especially Trey" I said then I started to walk away before she grabbed my arm and pulled me back. "What damage?" she asked looking like she was suddenly worried but I wasn't having it. She had her chance to be there. "Well if you haven't already noticed, he hasn't been to school the last 3 days, but you don't worry your pretty little head about Trey. You chose Drake and now you have to live with your choice" I said then left her standing there. Through the rest of the week I found her looking at me every once in a while and Miriam came to me Friday after 2nd period and told me that Liberty had asked if she knew anything about Trey. I had told Miriam about what Liberty had done so she was appropriately dismissive. I also didn't tell Miriam about what had happened to Trey so she couldn't have told Liberty anything anyway. I had come up with an idea and with the help of Justice and Veronica I set it up. So on Saturday afternoon I went to meet Justice and Veronica to get everything set and get all the pieces together. Veronica had told Sean to be ready for my call and when everything was set I called Sean and let him know what he needed to do. It was time for round two. ***************************************************************** BEAR'S POV I was going stir crazy. Sitting at home when I wasn't at school was not going over well for me as I was becoming grouchy and bitter. I was taking my anger out on my family and while my father definitely deserved my attitude and my mother to a lesser extent because of her allowance of his treatment of me, my sister did not deserve my anger. I had just come from her room after apologizing to her when I heard the doorbell ring. I went and looked and saw my mom coming back into the room with Sean in tow. I went downstairs and when he saw me he greeted me with a fist bump. "Hello Sean, what brings you here" Dad said tersely and I struggled to keep from putting my hands around his throat. We all 3 took a seat while mom left the room. "Well sir I came by because I was wondering if Bear could come out with us this evening" he said and I was thinking how crazy he was for saying this. My dad wasn't supposed to know he was friends with our group, well what was left of it. "Oh, and who is we?" Dad asked tersely again. "Just me and a few of the guys from the team. We got together and decided that all Bear needed was to hang out with us real guys to remember what it is he should be" Sean said and I immediately became angry because in my easily angered mind he was telling the truth and he thought he could re-straight me by my spending time with the guys. "That actually sounds like a good idea" Dad said seriously considering this. How much of a fool was he? Who in their right mind would think it was a good idea to put a guy who says he's gay together with a bunch of good-looking muscular jocks, whom he's seen naked by the way, and expect that to un-gay him? My dad apparently. "Good sir. I am really concerned about Bear and I think with some time spent with the guys he will return to being the guy he's always been. He just needs reminding of what it means to be a guy" Sean said and I really wanted to kill him right then until he turned and discreetly winked at me. This cut through the angry fog enough to let me see that Sean was snowing my dad and I calmed down enough to play along. "I don't wanna go. I keep telling you guys that I'm not interested" I said looking exasperated. "You mean you have been asked about this and you turned it down? You're going so get your ass ready" he ordered. I made a point of acting all begrudgingly as I got ready to go. I stormed downstairs and headed toward the door and I heard my dad tell Sean to make sure he showed me the light. We got out to Sean's car and we headed somewhere that I didn't know. He was silent all the way. We finally pulled up to Jo-Jo's. It was a small restaurant that served great sandwiches but the place looked deserted except for a few cars, one of which was Jessica's dad's charger. I looked at him but he just smiled and got out of the car. I got out too and followed him into the building. Inside I saw Jessica, Justice and Veronica sitting at a table with a guy. When he turned I was happy and angry at the same time. I rushed to him and he got up and ran to me and when we were close I pulled him into my arms and it was like my entire being was soothed. He clung to me and I tightened my grip on him and tried to envelop him in all the love I had for him. This was a bad idea because even though I was happier than I'd even been in this moment, I knew that it would take an unbelievable force to make me leave this man. "Bear, I... I..." Trey started but he couldn't get the words to come out I guess. He sounded so weak and timid. I didn't like this one bit and it made me pull him tighter against me and I just held him close to me. Finally when I needed to see his face I let go and softly gripped his head in my hands. "Baby I missed you so much. I don't know if I could have made it any longer without seeing you" I said as I looked into his eyes and he did the same to me. "Let's give them some space ladies" said Sean to the girls. They all departed and that left me alone with Trey. We walked over to a booth and sat in it as close as we could get to each other. "I was worried that I would never get to see you again once Jessica finally told me what your dad had done" Trey said. I looked at him and saw that he still had several visible bruises. They weren't that bad though and would probably be almost completely gone by Monday. I rubbed my thumb across his cheek which was lightly bruised. "I could kill Zane. I will kill him if I see him again baby" I said honestly. "I don't wanna think about him" he said in an icy voice that was so unlike him. "Okay and we won't talk about my... father" I said. He raised a hand and ran his fingers through my now thick beard and I smiled. I liked that he seemed to have a kink for my body hair. "You going for a mountain man look lately big guy?" he asked with a smirk. "You know you like my beard" I smiled back. "I actually had this dream of you growing thick hair all over your body and you rampaging throughout the city wrecking shit trying to get to see me" he said with a chuckle. "Baby, aside from the wolf-man thing, I was close to doing just that. Being without you was literally hurting me" I said and he grabbed my face and pulled me toward him. I have to tell you that finally kissing him in what seemed like so long was like getting a glass of water in a desert. We kissed and ran our hands all over each other's bodies. When I gripped his side he winced and I pulled away. I told him to lift up his shirt and he tried to put it off and tried to kiss me again but I was adamant. He finally lifted his shirt and I saw his fading bruises that were still there. I couldn't stop the tear that leaked out. "It's okay Bear. It doesn't really hurt anymore" he said as he grabbed my hands. "How is everything with your parents" I asked because I knew they were who he was worried about the most, especially his dad. Ironic that Zane ended up being the major threat. "My mom is... unsure how to proceed with me but she has been doting on me ever since this happened. My dad though has been incredible. He's talked to me and showed me such love and acceptance. I think this has elevated our relationship to a whole new level and I couldn't imagine having a better father" he said and hearing that made me happy but also tore at my heart because I wasn't as fortunate to have a father like that. "That's great" I said and cringed inwardly as I heard the emotion in my voice. I didn't want him to hear that. "I'm sorry Bear. I didn't mean to make you feel bad about your own family" he said as he grabbed my face and kissed it all over before dropping those lips on mine. "No Trey, don't be sorry. I'm happy that your dad is supporting you and loving you like you deserve" I said. "You deserve love too big guy" he said as he pulled me and wrapped his arms around me and I laid my head on his shoulder. "Talk to me. Just tell me anything. I wanna hear your voice baby" I said in a strained voice full of emotion. I couldn't talk anymore so I wanted to hear him talk. He told me about what had happened that day and when I started to raise up he gripped me tight and made me stay in my place. He told me how scared he was. How when he heard my voice it was like a weight was lifted off his chest and I told him it was the same for me. He said he hadn't seen Calvin since then even though he knew he was still at the house. He also said Zane hadn't come by at all. When he spoke of Zane his voice again took that icy, bitter tone and I couldn't blame him for how he was feeling because I wanted to kill my father and he hadn't done anything to me physically. When he was tired of talking he just sat there holding me and I let him hold me and it was great to just sit here with him. A while later Sean came out and said it was time to get me home. I didn't want to leave him but Trey said if I didn't get back home that my dad would probably not let me out with Sean again and I couldn't have that. I guess now that I had a way to see Trey thanks to Jessica and Sean and I owed them a huge debt. We got into the car and headed back to my house which killed me to do. Sean reminded me that I had better not look too happy when I went back home so I could play my part and not make the old bastard suspicious. We pulled into my driveway and he let me out, and I thanked him for everything. I went into the house and was grouchy and ornery like I had been counseled to do. My mom looked a bit sad but dad looked pleased and told me that it was good for me and I would see the benefit of being around the guys when I was back to normal. I just rolled my eyes and went to bed. I stayed in my room most of the day Sunday reliving my day with Trey and anticipating seeing him again. I hoped Jess and Sean could do it soon. Monday when I went down to get ready for school I was ready to head to school as Trey said that he was going back then and even if I couldn't talk to him I could at least see him and I could probably sneak and see him like I did with Jessica that one time. My dad though proved just how much of a bastard he was at breakfast. "Sit down Barry" he said as I walked into the kitchen. I saw that Steph was either in another room or already gone to school. "Fine" I said as I sat down and looked at my parents with disdain. "Here, take this" he said as he handed me a cell phone. I thought he was giving me back mine but this one was different. "What's this? Where's my iPhone?" I asked. "You don't get your cell phone back Barry. This is so I can keep track of you. It has your mothers number as well as mine in it. If you try to call any other number my phone will receive an alert. There's also a GPS in that phone which is why you are to keep it on you at all times" he said and I was livid. "Are you fucking crazy? You trying Lo-jack me or some shit" I shouted as I stood. "Bear, don't speak to your father like that, and sit down, now" Mom said in warning. I glared at her and she looked back. I finally sat and glared at both of them. "Now if you're done with your little outburst I'll tell you why this is happening" he said calmly. In fact he had been speaking eerily calm ever since I had come into the kitchen. "What do you mean? I know this is happening because you listened to some bullshit from Drake and now wanna put me on lock-down" I said hotly. "No. This is because you and your little friends think you are smarter than me when you're not. I knew you were going to see Trey when you left here Saturday. You see I know that Sean has become Trey's new close friend as of late. You told me about that remember" he said and I kicked myself because I did remember telling mom at least about it when Trey wasn't speaking to us. "I told mom, not you" I hissed, then glared at her again. She at least had the decency to look ashamed that she had contributed to this. "Whatever" he said dismissively. "I also know about Sean because Drake was kind enough to let me know that day that he probably knew about you two as well. I knew that his whole song and dance Saturday was just that. It was a ploy to get you away from the house so you could see Trey so this is your punishment for letting your friends lead you astray" he said still in that weird calm voice. "You're gonna make me kill you" I seethed. "Bear!" Mom gasped. "It's alright April. He's just angry now but he'll thank me once he's back to where he needs to be. Now Bear, I'm gonna do you a favor. I want you to go to school and see your friends" he said and I was instantly suspicious. "Why?" I asked. "Go to school and see them. You have 10 minutes to tell them whatever you need to. Say everything you need to because after that you will not talk to any of them again. I will be having a talk with your coach and if he won't cooperate then I'll have to take some actions. Tell them whatever you want because after the ten minutes if you are near them again, you will regret it. Now lets go" he said as he got up and waited for me. I glared at him, than my mother as I started to say a word of rebellion. I then thought that he knew every move I made. That meant that he was probably watching Trey. I couldn't do anything that might put him in danger so I got up and followed him. I was at the breaking point by this point. ***************************************************************** JESSICA'S POV I was happy because Trey was finally back at school. He stopped by to pick me up as my dad needed his car that morning and I wasn't riding with Liberty anymore. As we walked into school people started staring immediately. "I guess they're looking at the new freak show" Trey said as he walked next to me. We first ran into Miriam talking to Veronica about something. Dale was with her as he mostly always was lately. When Miriam and Dale first saw Trey they both gasped because they didn't know about what had happened to him. Veronica did the same thing Saturday and his bruises were much worse then, though much better than they were the day he got them. "Trey, what happened?" Miriam asked as she raised her hand to touch his cheek which was still marked and he was still wearing a bandage on his forehead. "I don't wanna talk about it" he said harshly before apologizing. I saw Sean walking down the hall and just as I discreetly nodded at him, I saw Bear walk up to him and say something which caused his brow to knot. They then headed our way and I was wondering what they were doing. They were gonna ruin everything. Bear looked miserable and somehow I knew something wasn't right. One look at Trey told me he knew it too. "Hey people" Bear said as he walked to us. "Bear what the hell? You'll ruin everything" I snapped not meaning to. "It doesn't matter baby girl. He knows I saw Trey Saturday" he said sounding so low. "How does he know?" I asked. I was very careful to not let anything get out. "I apparently told my mom that Trey and Sean had become friends when he wasn't talking to us and then our resident jackass just had to tell him that Sean probably knew about Trey and me the day he outed me to my dad" he said. "Drake" I hissed. "Why did he let you go if he knew where I was taking you?" Sean asked. "I guess to catch us" he said. I didn't like the tone he was using. It was like he didn't even have the strength left to talk. "Bear, why are you talking to us now?" Trey asked, and I was wondering that too. "He gave me 10 minutes while he's talking to Coach. After 10 minutes I had better stay away from all of you or else" he said and I guess that round two was his too. "How will he know if you are talking to us?" Veronica asked. Bear pulled a weird looking phone out of his pocket. "He gave me this and told me I had to keep it with me at all times. He gets an alert every time this thing makes or receives a call from a number other than his or my mom's so he'll know if I call anyone other than him or my mom who are all I'm allowed to call" he said and I realized that this man was truly diabolical. No more games. Trey and Bear needed each other and I would find a way. "Give me the phone" I said as I took out my phone. "Why?" he asked. I told him that I knew he couldn't call anybody with the phone but I jotted the number down in my phone anyway. He said he had to go in a defeated voice and then surprised everyone when he pulled Trey into a tight hug and right there in the school hallway laid a big kiss on his lips. Miriam and Dale's jaws dropped and there was silence all around us in the hallway. Students were stunned at the sight of Bear Davidson kissing another guy full on the mouth, claiming him in front of everybody that could see. "Remember that I love you. I am yours and you are mine, baby" he said as he stroked Trey's cheek with his thumb in such a tender and loving act that I am sure I swooned. I looked at Veronica and Miriam and they were right there with me it seemed. Sean was shaking his head with a goofy smile on his face while Dale looked slightly uncomfortable but still had a small smile on his face. After Bear left Trey looked so sad. I told him to not give up. Then I asked Miriam if she knew how to hack a phone. She said no, but that maybe Justice could as she was way more technologically gifted than she was. I took her advice and sent Justice a text and she sent me one back and said she's be home that night and see what she could do. Sean looked at me with a weird look and asked me how I kept coming up with this stuff and I was stumped as well to how I came up with this stuff. Later after school we all met at Sean's place and Justice went to work using the number I had given her. I had to admit that I didn't hold out any hope that she could do it but she was cautiously optimistic. She was in the middle of her hack when her cell phone rang. She answered on speaker while she continued her hacking. "Hello" she said. "Is this Justice St. John" the voice said that I knew well. Trey's eyes as well as Sean's went wide as they recognized who it was too. We whispered trying to tell her that it was Bear's dad and her eyes too went wide. Dale, Miriam, and Veronica looked sufficiently surprised as well. "Yes, who is this?" Justice asked playing dumb. "This is Lawrence Davidson. Why are you trying to hack my son's phone?" he said and I couldn't believe this was happening. How did he keep thwarting me every time I tried to do something? "I- I have no idea what you are talking about" she said. "That is a lie. I know who you are Justice. You're Liberty's brainy sister that goes to that Whitewood Academy. I looked into the school and you in particular and you've been written up about quite a number of times. It seems you are a technological prodigy so hacking would be in your wheelhouse wouldn't it" he said coolly and I truly hated this man. "Perhaps" she spoke coldly "Well I would like to extend you a friendly warning that you cannot hack into this phone without me knowing. It's why I gave him that particular phone and didn't just gave him his iPhone back" he said sounding smug. "Trey, are you there?" he asked. "Yes" Trey answered after a minute. "Tell your friends to stop. You are only making things worse for Barry. Just accept that your time with him is over, and consider him the next time you and your friends try to outsmart me" he said then the call ended. "Damn!" Sean shouted. "I can still try hacking the phone" Justice said. "What difference will it make if he knows we're doing it" I said truly pissed off. "We need to find another plan. I just need to think of something." "No" Trey said and his tone and body language spelled defeat. He had given up and I couldn't allow that. "Trey we have to keep trying" I argued. "No we don't. He's right. If we keep trying things will only get worse for Bear" he said as he stood up. "So you're just gonna throw in the towel? You're gonna give up on Bear?" I asked. He just looked at me and walked over to me and hugged me. I knew that was his way of saying that he had given up. He kissed me on the cheek and told us he was heading home before doing just that. We just sat there and I honestly couldn't come up with anything else. Things just couldn't end like this between them. To be continued.... ********************************************************************************************************* Editor's Corner: No say it isn't so. I don't believe it is over but Jack could surprise us all. It's was a great follow up chapter to 12 and 13. Hello everyone this is John or JD (there are to many John's in the world.) But man, Jessica tried to help at every turn for Bear and Trey to see each other. But his father thwarted them at every turn, and what could he be talking to the Coach about, and if he doesn't cooperate what could he possible do to Coach. I'm curious about Bear's little blackout (it seemed like a blackout moment.) Will be interested in seeing what that was all about in the chapters to come. Where could Calvin be in all this even though he should be at the house Trey hasn't seen him. Really wonder what he could be thinking during all through this situation. Be sure to send Jack an email about the chapter. You can also send me one at jd.kaster1987@gmail.com if you happen to see something that needed editing that I might have missed. ********************************************************************************************************* Author's Notes: Jessica's war with of wills with Bear's dad ended with Jessica losing, though Trey and Bear are the true losers in this situation. Bear has reached his limit and Trey has given up so what does that spell for their relationship and will his friends just let this be the end? What will happen when Trey finallt comes face to face with Liberty and Drake again after Drake's actions caused a truly traumantic event to happen to Trey? What will the boys' mothers do in this situation. Will they ever be able to accept their sons as being gay and in love woth each other. Will Trey's be the one to help him not give up? These question will be answered in the next episode of "The Chronicles of Trey". (lol, did you like that?) As you have seen above I have a new edition to my story called "Editor's Corner" where my editor JD give his thoughts on the chapter. I hope you show him some support as he helps me get this story out to you all by sending him an email to let him know how he's doing.. I hope you enjoy this chapter. I appreciate all comments which can be sent to me at thestoryguy9783@gmail.com.
