All done," Kane said as he wrapped up my rubdown. He was the team's sports doctor. "Thanks, man, I needed that," I said as I sat up feeling my muscles feeling a lot better. "I can tell. You were all knotted up," he said as he arranged his supplies. "Yeah, I probably have been pushing it too much lately," I said referring to my workouts. That's really all I've had to do aside from my classes as Trey was extra busy and Miriam was busy too. My football buddies spent their free time with their girlfriends, except Hoyt who was probably spending his time with one or more guys, or partying and I wasn't in the mood for that without Trey. "I have noticed that you've been pushing yourself extra hard. I don't see the level of training you've been putting in from guys that don't intend on playing the spring season. Don't you have anything else to do in your free time?" He said and I kinda picked up what his question meant by the slight smile he had. "Not really," I said before I hopped down off the table. "Oh, I'm sorry," he said, and I was confused for a second what with his tone but then I caught on and chuckled a bit. "Naw man, I'm still very much attached. It's just that he's very busy with school and all," I said but he didn't look convinced if the questioning frown meant anything. "I've been in school before and I wasn't too busy to make time for the one I was seeing at the time. I don't know man," he said, and I started to get angry but then I remembered that nobody involved with the team other than Deacon knew about what Trey was doing so I cooled my anger. "Naw man, he is busy. He's doing his undergraduate and graduate work at the same time," I said, and his eyebrows shot up so high. I almost laughed at him. "That's something else," he said after letting out a whistle. "I heard about that and that most people don't make it," he said, and I was indeed worried about that very thing. I also knew though that Trey would make it or die trying, which I was also worried about. "I believe he can do it," I said with a smile. I hope it was convincing enough for him. "If you say so," he said before giving me a pat on the shoulder and heading off somewhere. "Hey Kane, can I ask you something?" I said before he got too far. "Sure," he said as he stopped and leaned against the nearby wall. "Can you teach me the massage stuff you were doing?" I asked and he looked at me for a few moments before I saw a glint in his eyes. "You know you can't massage yourself, right?" He asked with a slight smirk. "Yeah, I do," I said, and he chuckled a bit. "Well, are you looking for a straight massage or something more, intimate?" He asked still with that glint in his eyes. I knew he was kind of teasing and I didn't mind. "Straight massage," I said, and he chucked again. "I should have figured as such cause if you were just looking to do a kinky massage then you don't need to do much but with a real massage, you need teaching to do it right," he said, and I nodded. "Yeah, I figured that. I wanna know how in case I need to use it," I said, and he nodded. "Sure thing, man. Hop back up here and I'll teach you a few things," he said as he patted the table I had vacated. I hopped back up and he went over a few things as he demonstrated how to do so on my body. When he was done, I was moderately confident in my ability to replicate his moves to help Trey relax. It was the least I could for him. ******** Once I was done at the gym, I got showered and changed because I had to book it to make it to a new class I had signed up for. I arrived just in time to be 10 minutes late as the class had started and the door was closed. I looked at the plaque mounted outside the door that said, Introduction to Black Studies. I opened the door and went in to see the whole class turn around and look at me. I'm not gonna lie and say I didn't feel awkward being stared at by a room full of Black people that I didn't know looking at me like I was out of place. Maybe I was but I was gonna charge on. As I walked further in, I briefly wondered if Trey had ever felt like this before. If he did then I definitely needed this class to arm me to change things so that we, Blacks and Whites, didn't make each other feel this way. "Your name, please," The Professor, a man named Dr. Lewis as I saw on my registration, said before I could reach a seat. "Uh, Bear Davidson sir," I said, and I heard a few snickers. I wondered if I'd used my proper name on my registration as he went to his desk and looked at his class list, I guess. "Yeah, I see you here," he said, and I breathed a sigh of relief. "Take a seat," he said "Yes, sir," I said and found the nearest one and sat down. I saw this girl with long skinny braids and moon shaped earrings kind of glaring at me. "Mr. Davidson, since this is your first time in here, I'll excuse it but from now on, know that if that door is closed and it's more than 5 minutes past class start time then don't come in. I give latecomers 5 minutes to arrive then that's it. Do you understand?" He said and I just nodded. He continued to stare, and I figured he wanted a spoken response. "Yes, sir. I understand," I said, and I heard a few more snickers. I felt like I was back in high school again. I looked and the glaring girl was now smirking at me. He went on with what he'd been saying, and I did my best to pay attention. He was giving a lecture on the Selma marches and Bloody Sunday in particular. I paid very close attention because I had only heard the barest amount about this in high school. As the class went on, I noticed that a lot of the students were sort of watching me, likely wondering what I was doing in this class. I for one was surprised that no other white students were in this class at a school as big as ours. I guess that said something in itself about where we were as a society. When class was over, Dr. Lewis gave some research he wanted us to do and he'd let us know what the next step was in the next class. I gathered my stuff and was about to leave before I got a text. I saw that it was from Trey that said, "my heart beats for you". It was followed by a gif of a beating Valentine heart. I couldn't stop the smile from forming on my face. I headed out of the room and ran right into the glaring girl from class. "Hello," I drew out as she was just standing there, blocking my path and glaring at me. "So, did you get what you wanted from slumming it with the Black folks?" She asked kind of aggressively. "Huh," I said because I had no idea what was behind all the aggression. "Let me guess, you're trying to get with a Black girl and you think taking this class will do the deed," she said, and I couldn't stop myself from smirking. "Nope," I said with my arms folded. "Oh, you're already with the girl and she wants you to take this class," she said with a smirk of her own, probably from thinking she'd guessed right. "Nope," I said again, and she frowned. "Then what?" She said and I smiled. "I'm bisexual and with a guy, not a girl," I said, and she raised her eyebrows for a second before I could see her next line of interrogation in her eyes. "So, since you look like a jock, I'll bet you two have some DL situation going on," she said and again she was wrong which I think she guessed by my smile that never faltered. "Nope, we're in a committed relationship and both our friends and family and my teammates know about it. Also, he doesn't know I'm taking this class and me taking it wouldn't impress him. He's not the "easily impressed" type," I said, and she frowned again. I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that I liked annoying her. "Well," she started before I held up my hand. "Stop. You're not gonna fit me in a neat little box. I'm complicated," I said, but she just rolled her eyes. "Whatever. You're still white so there's that box," she said, then her eyes lit up. "You're a white gay, that's another "box", she said with a smirk. I just shook my head and smiled. "Yes, I am. My name is Bear Davidson, by the way," I said as I extended my hand to her. She just looked at it with a smirk that would put Drake to shame. "Such a cliché name. Did your football buddies give you that name?" She asked, and again I was gonna disappoint her. "No, my boyfriend gave it to me when we were 12," I said, and the memory made me smile. "Wait, you've been seeing this guy since you were 12?" She asked looking genuinely interested. "Nope. We've only been together for 3 years, but we've known each other for 18 years, since we were 2," I said, and it then occurred to me that perhaps I was volunteering way too much personal information to this girl who I didn't even know and hadn't even given me her name. With how antagonistic she'd been to me she could have done a lot with what she knew about me already. "My name is Artemis Jones," she said out of the blue while extending her hand. I shook it and she tried to hide how surprised she was with the way my hand swallowed her much smaller hand. "Nice to meet you," I said with an added smile. She just raised an eyebrow as she retracted her hand. "I doubt that," she said before she looked me over and turned to leave. "So, since you now know everything about me, how about you tell me something about you," I said after rushing to catch up with her and falling in step beside her. She looked at me hard before kind of rolling her eyes. "I did. I told you my name. Nobody told you to tell me your life story, if you even did," she said, and I couldn't help but laugh. She reminded me of Trey a bit with her biting wit. "There's not much else to tell," I said, and she stopped and looked at me. "You're rich, aren't you?" She asked out of the blue and I had no idea how she could tell. "Well, my parents have money," I said after I recovered from the sudden question. "Uh huh," she said before she resumed walking. "Look, I know you want to brand me and all white people with the same brush but it's not gonna work," I said, and that stopped her again. "Because you're not racist," she said as she stopped and glared at me. "No, I'm not," I said, finally starting to show my annoyance with her. "Because you have a Black boyfriend, right," she said which made me angrier. I knew that I wasn't racist because I'd seen it before, in places that I didn't expect. "Not only for that, but yeah," I said, and she rolled her eyes. "That's the problem with people like you. You go get a Black friend or date a Black woman, or in your case a Black man, and you think that's your shining badge that means you're not racist," she said, and I started to regret following her. "That's not how I feel at all," I said, and she pegged me with another one of her smirks like she was about to try and prove me wrong again. "So, you think you've never been racist?" She asked and I wanted to say "Hell Yes!", but I just couldn't be sure though. "I-I'm sure," I said in my least confident tone. "Okay, so tell me, have you ever thought of your boyfriend and the words milk chocolate or dark chocolate come to mind or maybe you've even said them to him? Have you ever thought of or uttered the words Big Black Cock in relation to him?" She said and I started to say no but then I remembered that I had done that. I know I'd thought the words "Big Black Cock" although I couldn't be sure if I'd ever said it to Trey. "I-," I tried to get something to come out, but I couldn't "You see, being racist isn't just not letting someone like us in your country club or not hiring people like us, or even saying the word nigger at any time. There's such thing as passive racism like the examples I just gave you," she said, and I was at a loss for words. For a long while after that incident with my grandmother, I was worried if I'd ever done or said anything to Trey that could be viewed as racist. Turns out I had. "I don't know what to say," I said after what seemed like forever. "There's nothing to say. But it seems like you want to learn so I guess I should give you the benefit of the doubt," she said, and finally gave me a small smile which I returned. "I wanna learn. I wanna make sure I never make Trey feel like he's less than me or anybody else because of his skin color," I said, and she rolled her eyes. She was smiling though so I didn't think there was any malice behind the move. "Okay, in the spirit of this new, acquaintanceship, let me tell you that you need to shut up. You really have told me probably everything about you now," she said, but I just laughed cause I didn't really care about her knowing about Trey anymore. For some reason, I trusted that she'd at least keep stuff she'd learned about Trey to herself. She pulled out a notecard from her bag and wrote something on it before handing it to me. She then aimed a mischievous smirk at me before turning and walking away. I looked at the card and it said "Something About Me" at the top with was what I guessed was her cell number and a large letter "L" under it. I didn't know what it could be since there wasn't a "L" anywhere in the name she'd given me. Then I thought of what the L could mean and I quickly put her number into my phone and sent her a message asking if that was what I thought. She texted back yes. So, Artemis was a Lesbian. I wondered what would happen if she met Veronica. ******** "Hey man, hurry up. I need to use the bathroom," Deacon said for like the fifth time. "Alright man," I said as I dried off from my shower. Once I had my underwear on, I went to unlock the door and jumped back just in time for Deacon to come rushing into the bathroom. He didn't waste any time whipping out his dick and letting loose a stream of piss into the toilet. I just shook my head. "What?" He asked while still emptying the tank. He must have drunk a gallon of water, or something. "You couldn't wait until I left first," I said while I finished drying my hair. "What for? It's not the first time I've pissed in front of a dude," he said before finally finishing up and putting everything away again. "You don't say," I said in a teasing tone. "Don't you wish," he said before turning on the sink to wash his hands. "Nah, too small for me," I joked. He looked genuinely hurt, for about a second before a grin broke out on his face. "Screw you," he said before leaving the bathroom. "Naw, my ass belongs to Trey," I said, and he laughed. I headed for my room to get dressed before I had to be in my first class of the day. "Hey, what's that?" Deacon asked. I looked and he was leaning on the doorjamb leading into my room. "What's what?" I asked as I slipped on my jeans. "On your chest," he said, referring to my surprise for Trey. "Oh, it's something for Trey," I said, not able to hide the smile that formed on my face. "You've got it bad man," he said with a smile before shaking his head and walking away. I got a text on my phone and expected it to be Trey. I looked though and saw that it was a pic from my mother. I opened it and saw that it was a pic of her and Alicia's baby, my baby. I dropped down on my bed and looked at the pic. Seeing them together I could see the resemblance between my mother and... my baby. I could see the eyes that were mine, the smile so pure, it wrenched at my heart. I quickly closed the message and turned off my phone. I got up off my bed and put distance between myself and my phone so that I could turn off the feelings that I was feeling. I had to hand it to my mother with her passive-aggressive way of telling me what she wanted me to do. I picked up my phone and went back to the message. I saved the pic to my phone before deleting the message so I wouldn't have to look at it every time I texted my mother. I just wasn't ready to deal with this whole fatherhood thing yet. I knew that my relationship with Trey wasn't ready for me to deal with it yet, especially the "Father of Alicia Lake's baby" part. I wasn't willing to risk my relationship with Trey yet with this until I knew we'd be okay. I shook everything off before continuing to get dressed. Once I was done, I grabbed my backpack and my keys and wallet before picking up my phone again. As I headed out of the door, I sent my mother a text that said "Thanks" followed by the "expressionless face" emoji. She sent back a row of frowning face emojis. I just rolled my eyes as I walked out the door. ******** TREY'S POV "Dude hurry up. I gotta get in there," Drake shouted as he pounded on the door. "Okay, just a sec," I said as I splashed more water on my face to wake up. Even the shower hadn't done the job. "That's it, I'm coming in," he said, and I just rolled my eyes before the knob turned and he came barging into the bathroom. I thought for sure I had locked that door. Thank goodness I was already dressed. He rushed past me and just whipped it out before a stream on pee emptied into the toilet. "Are you crazy!" I said as I turned my back to him. "What? I had to pee, and I couldn't wait anymore," he said sounding slightly annoyed. "Yeah, but I'm in here," I said incredulously. "So," he said as he finished up. "You're not scared to be in the bathroom with big gay Trey with your dick hanging out in full view?" I asked as I turned around and smirked at him. He had thankfully got everything put back up. "Not really," he said with a slight scowl. "Besides, you didn't even look," he said before he started washing his hands. "Are you disappointed that I didn't look?" I asked as I leaned against the wall. He looked at me and rolled his eyes before finishing with washing his hands. "Yeah, right," he mumbled before drying his hands on one of the hand towels and walking out of the bathroom. "Come on Drake, if that's what you want just whip it out right here and I'll be happy to look at it," I said as I followed him out of the bathroom. "As much as I'd love to have you gawking at my dick, I've gotta take a shower," he said as he grabbed his underwear, a t-shirt, and his bathroom kit. "Aw darn, I'm so disappointed," I said as I dropped down on my bed and looked sad to sell the bit. "Well if it disappoints you that bad then I'll leave the bathroom door unlocked. Just duck your head in anytime," he said before he walked back into the bathroom and closed the door. I was stunned as I didn't expect him to keep the joke going that far. This new Drake was continuing to be jarring for me. He did serve to wake me up a bit more though, and just in time for a call from my mother as I heard my cell ring with her ringtone. "Hey Mama," I said as I answered my cell. "You sound tired," she said because of course she'd notice. "No "Hi sweetie", just gonna jump right in huh," I said, and I heard a sigh over the phone. "Hi sweetie," she said with very little enthusiasm. "Not even gonna try huh," I said, and I knew I was annoying her. I had to do something to stall her though. "Boy, I don't have time for this," she said, and I rolled my eyes. "Why did you call then?" I asked, and while I was likely shoring up bad son points, I couldn't stop. "I called to check on you," she said sounding so motherly that I felt slightly bad for messing with her. "Then you do have time," I said, and I guess I didn't feel bad enough to stop. "Trey, I-," she started, but I interrupted her because she sounded like she was at the end of her patience. "Mama, I'm fine," I said before I barely managed to stifle the yawn that seemed determined to tell her that I was tired. "Are you sure?" She asked, and I had to appreciate her worrying about me, so I decided to stop messing with her. "I'm sure," I said before stifling another traitorous yawn. "Okay," she said but I could tell she wanted to push the issue more. I had to get her mind off it and me. "So, how are the kids?" I asked in as comical tone as I could muster. "Don't get me started," she said before she did indeed start as she went on to tell all the details of the happenings of my siblings. Cara had gotten in trouble at school for fighting a boy. Carly had won a junior scientist award. Calvin had gone to a party a few days ago and hadn't come home until after 4 am for which he was now grounded. Zane and Nicole had found a wedding venue and she and Dad had finally met Nicole's parents. I got the feeling that it may not have been a completely nice meeting. "So, everything is otherwise going good?" I asked as even though it had barely been a month since I was back at school, I still missed them, and I wanted to be in the know just much as I was when I was at home. "We're good," she said, and I smiled. "Tell Carly I'm proud of her," I said. I was happy that Carly was shaping up to be a fine scientist. I tried not to remember the nerve gas incident to prevent my enthusiasm for her from waning. "Tell her yourself. She has a cell phone now," she said which I had forgotten about. They'd gotten the twins their own cell phones for Christmas. "Oh yeah. I might call her to get her help with some of my work," I said mostly joking, although I wouldn't put it past her to know at least something about my school work. I didn't wanna find out though lest it made me feel inferior to my 12-year-old sister. "Trey, there's something else I wanna talk to you about, but I'm not sure how to start," she said, and I don't know why, but I immediately started thinking that she and Dad were getting divorced. There was no reason to even suspect it, but you just never know. "Okay," I dragged out while trying to calm my rapidly beating heart. If divorce or anything like it was what she was about to say, then I didn't know how I'd be able to handle it. "Trey, how long are you gonna continue this?" She asked and I was confused. "Me? I thought this was gonna be about you and Dad," I said, and... what was she on about? "What about your dad and I?" She asked with a bit of an edge. "I thought you were about to tell me you were getting divorced or something," I said, and I breathed a sigh of relief that I seemed to be wrong. "Boy please. Your father is my world and I'm his," she said, and I couldn't help but bust out laughing at the aggressive way she'd declared their continuing love for each other. "Well, I'm glad you feel so aggressively about it," I said as I finished my laughing fit. "Are you done?" She asked sounding annoyed, but I could hear the amusement in her voice that she was trying to hide. "Yeah I am. Now, what am I supposed to be continuing?" I asked as I returned to my confused state. "Keeping Bear away from his daughter," she said in such a blunt manner that it actually hurt to hear this shit from her. "Are you fucking kidding me?" I asked very loudly as I stood up. Then I realized who I'd said this to and said a quick silent prayer of thanks that I was many miles away. Although, I still didn't feel safe. "Child, I know you did not just talk to me like that. You better be glad you are where you are now," she said, and I didn't miss the very real threat. "Mama, I'm sorry, but you didn't have to say what you said to me either," I said like further digging my own grave. "Maybe I was too blunt, but you'd better watch the way you speak to me in the future. I already have two grounded children and I have no problem making it three," she said sounding more cordial, but I still heard that mother's threat in her voice. "Mama, you can't ground me. I don't really live there anymore," I said as mostly a joke trying to diffuse the tense situation. "Trey," she said with a deep sigh. "I'm not gonna do it," I finally said as I was done with beating around the bush. "Do what?" She asked sounding confused. "I'm not gonna give him to Alicia like you all want me to," I said suddenly feeling tired again. I looked up to see Drake looking at me with a concerned look on his face. I was unsure if I liked it or not. "Sweetie, I'm not trying to tell you to give Bear to Alicia," Mama said, but I wasn't listening to this anymore. First it was Miriam and now my mother. I tried to think about things from Miriam's side, but I kept coming back to Bear and the way he was, how big his heart was. "Do you think I'm stupid? Do you think I don't know Bear?" I asked, and she let out a deep sigh. "Trey," she said, trying to explain but I wasn't hearing it. "I know him, Mama. I know he's gonna see that little girl and he's gonna fall in love with her. She's his and that's gonna matter to him. That's what Alicia wants so she can get her clutches into him. She wants him to love their child because that'll open the door to loving her. I'm not risking my relationship over this," I said, and I was aware of how desperate I sounded and the fact that Drake was hearing it too, but I didn't care. "Trey, if you have so little faith in the bond you and Bear have, in the love you have for each other and the devotion he has for you then you don't have a relationship, not a real one anyway," She said and I struggled to not get any more emotional, especially in front of Drake. She was wrong. I had faith in Bear's love for me. I had no doubt that he loved me immensely. It's just that sometimes, love wasn't enough, and I wasn't willing to risk that being the case with us, not yet. I knew that Bear loved me. I also knew though that he'd love his child. After all, it was a part of him, his family, and Bear loved his family. He even still loved Brian despite all Brian had done to kill that love. Bear loved his family and that kid made Alicia his family. "Trey, you don't trust Bear anymore, do you?" She asked and it was like another gut punch. "Yes, I do," I argued even though a little nugget of mistrust still lingered in the back of my mind. "No, you don't. Not if you feel the way you do. I think you were so desperate to be back with Bear again that you jumped back into a relationship with him without examining how what he did affected the trust you have in him," she said making sense which I didn't like. "Mama, I told you-," I started but she interrupted me. "I know that you said that you forgave him. That doesn't mean that you fully trust him now like you did before," she said and an ugly voice in the back of my mind roared to life and said, "Did you ever really trust him? Did you ever really believe that he'd stay faithful to you?" I silenced that voice because that's the last thing I needed to be thinking. "I love him, Mama," was all I was about to get out without losing control of my emotions. "I know sweetie, but sometimes love isn't enough," she said and there it was, coming from her. "I gotta go Mama," I said because I needed this conversation to end. "Trey, I love you," she said, and I could hear the regret in her voice. She regretted starting this conversation and I hated that she did it too, but you can't unring the bell. "Me too," I said before I ended the call. I looked up and Drake was getting his things together and trying to pretend like he hadn't heard anything. "Well, I'm headed out," he said, but he seemed to be lingering, for what I didn't know. "Okay," I said before I dropped back onto my bed and put my arm over my eyes as the light was suddenly starting to hurt my head. I heard him let out a sigh before I heard the door open and close. I looked up to see him gone. I let out a deep sigh of my own before I got up and finished getting dressed myself to start my day. ******** I threw myself into my work and by the end of the day I was dog tired. The day's work had managed to chase away thoughts of the conversation I'd had with my mother, for which I was glad. I finally dragged myself in to my room at almost 12 am to find Drake asleep bundled in covers. It suddenly dawned on me that I was cold. I chuckled to myself that I was so tired that I needed to see Drake bundled in covers to realize that it was cold. I checked the thermostat as each room had one and I saw a note from Drake that said that the heat was out. Just great. I threw on my biggest coat and sat down on my bed. I was hungry but I had no food in the fridge, and I was too tired to go get some. I was about to check and see if there was a pizza place still open that delivered when I noticed another note on my desk. I looked and it was from Drake too. It said that he'd left some Chinese food in my fridge for me if I wanted it. I looked over at the bed opposite me and studied the sleeping body of the guy lying in it. I wondered what the deal was with him recently. He'd been being nice to me for quite a while now. It was strange to reconcile this Drake with the one that I'd known for 5 years before we graduated high school. Serena couldn't have been the only thing that had cause this huge change in him, a change that left me unsure how to react to it. If anything, with them broken up I had expected him to go back to being the same douchebag he'd been before. He hadn't though. In fact the only change in his new attitude since he and Serena had broken up was his new obsession with black clothes. I shook off these thoughts and looked in the fridge to see 2 cartons from a local Chinese restaurant. I checked and saw that both boxes were full, so he hadn't so much left some leftovers in my fridge, but he'd actually ordered me some food of my own. I looked over at him again before I left the room to go to the small Kitchenette at the end of the hall. It was just a sink, 2 large garbage bins, a couple of cabinets for whatever use the RA of that floor wanted it to be, and 2 microwaves. I nuked the containers of shrimp fried rice and sweet and sour chicken and pigged out while trying to stay awake at the same time. I finished the chicken but left some of the fried rice. I dumped the chicken container in the trash and headed back to my room with the rice container. When I got back to my room, I stored the leftover rice in the fridge and dropped down on my bed. I was too tired to pull off my clothes, but I knew I needed to, so I mustered up the strength to at least pull off my shoes and get under the covers. The last thing I remember as I drifted off to sleep was Bear's smiling face and I hoped that our love was enough. ******** "Trey, wake up!" Someone was shouting at me. "Leave me alone," I mumbled as I pushed the annoying ass arm away. "Trey, your phone," the person who was unfortunately Drake shouted in my ear. "Stop hollering in my fucking ear," I snapped. "Gee, someone doesn't have a good morning attitude," he said smartly which made me want to throat punch him. I realized then that maybe he was right. "What?" I asked trying to sound more cordial. "Bear's on the phone. Dude is pissed that I answered your phone," he said, and I looked at him to see him actually smirking at that fact. "Give me that," I said as I snatched the phone from him. "I'll be waiting for you in the shower sweetie," Drake said loudly before retreating to the bathroom while laughing. I heard Bear explode over the phone before I'd even gotten it to my ear. "- cut his fucking dick off and shove it up his ass," I heard clearly as I put the phone to my ear. "Hello to you too sunshine," I said not able to hide the amusement at him threatening Drake. "Trey I swear, if I find out he touched you I'm gonna burn this whole school down. I'll find a way to travel back in time so I can kick his granddaddy in the balls so hard he'll cough them fuckers up," Bear said and all I could do was stare wide-eyed at the violent declaration. "Bear, don't you think that was a little too graphic for this early in the morning," I said even though I found it slightly humorous. "I don't care baby. If he touches you, he got to die. It's as simple as that," he said, and I struggled to not laugh at him. At least he'd succeeded in waking me up. "Bear please, you know I'd rather sell my left nut than have Drake touch me in that way," I said which was true. No matter how much our "relationship" had changed, I still could never see Drake in any kind of sexual way. "In any way," Bear called himself correcting for me. "Well, If I was choking to death and he could save me then I'd rather have him touch me and I live than not and I die," I said, and Bear let go with a hmpf. "I guess," he said after a minute. "Well gee, I'm glad you're so concerned with my wellbeing," I said, and he sighed. "Let's start over again," he said, and I was all for that. "Good morning my love," he said in a sexy tone that wasn't fair so early in the morning. "That's not fair. I'm not even completely awake yet and you already got me horny," I said, and he busted out laughing. "Glad I still got the skills," he said, and I couldn't help but smile. "I wanna see you so bad," I said because I needed to see him. Pesky thoughts had still left their mark and I needed to see him to put them back where they belonged, the thought graveyard. "I'm free for a couple hours this afternoon if you can get free," he said, and I made up my mind that I was gonna be free if I could help it. "I'll see you then big guy," I said in my own husky voice to give him something to look forward to. "I'm gonna devour you when I see you," he said with a slight growl in his voice. "Can't wait stud," I said, and we ended the call after saying I love you to each other. I finally looked up and saw Drake watching me from the door of the bathroom. He didn't say anything though. He just went to get some clothes, all black as usual. I ran to the bathroom to take care of business before I hopped in the shower to finish waking up. After the shower I was happy to see I was wide awake. I brushed my teeth before leaving the bathroom. Drake was on his way out, so I thanked him for the food last night before he left. He brushed it off like it was nothing, so I let it go. I got busy with my first two classes of the day before I got cracking on the three papers that I had due in a week. Thankfully I'd done all the needed research. I'd managed to get halfway done with my first paper when I received a text from Bear telling me he was free and ready whenever I was free as well. I looked and saw that it was almost 2:30 in the afternoon so it was a good time to break. Thankfully I had a light day with only those two morning classes and one later in the evening. I packed up my work and made quick work of rushing back to my room to drop off my bag before heading to Bear's dorm. When I arrived, I was walking so fast that I wasn't watching where I was going and walked right into Hoyt. He grabbed me to keep me from falling backwards for which I was thankful. I didn't wanna be any more embarrassed than I already was. He smiled and asked where the fire was. He didn't give me a chance to respond though before his smile transformed into a knowing smirk. He let me go after laughing and pointing me in the direction on the elevators. I said a silent "thank you" that that's all he did and headed on up to Bear's room. When I arrived at his floor, I don't know why but my anticipation to see him ratcheted up to 11. It was like I hadn't seen him in months. I made it to his door and took a deep calming breath before knocking on the door. The door opened and the smile on my face faltered when I saw that it was Deacon at the door. "Well, hello Trey. What brings you by to see little old me?" He asked with a cheeky grin. "Uh," was all I was able to say. "Beat it, Miller," I heard Bear said from somewhere in their place. "Alright, alright. Don't do anything I wouldn't do," Deacon said before he stepped around me and headed down the hall. "Don't worry, we will," Bear said to Deacon who'd already left as I came into the room. I finally saw him and while it had only been a few days since I'd last seen him, it felt like it'd been a month. "Hey big guy," I said, and the smile that came to his face was dazzling. "Hey yourself sexy," he said in that deep baritone that went straight to my dick. "I missed you," I said, and I saw his eyes light up at hearing that. "I missed you too," he said, and hearing that was like a healing balm for the exhaustion I felt and the conversation with my mother that still lingered in the back of my mind. "I have a surprise for you," he said as he looked at me with that sexy grin of his. "What is it?" I must admit that I needed a break from everything and if Bear's surprise was sex-related, I was all for it. He beckoned for me with a finger and I obliged. Once I stood in front of him next to his couch, he gently pushed me to sit down. Then he unbuckled his belt before pulling it off and tossing it aside. Then, with agonizingly slow speed, he unbuttoned his jeans and stepped out of them. He then started slowly pulling his shirt over his head. Watching his muscles stretch as he did this was making my mouth water. He finally got the shirt off and tossed it to the side which left him in only his sexy boxer briefs and a pair of black socks. I wasn't focused on that though. I was instead focused on his shaved chest and on his delectably muscled right pec was a tattoo. I stood and looked at the new tattoo. I ran my fingers over the intricately designed infinity symbol that had his name and my name on the opposite loops that connected to a heart at the center of the infinity symbol. "When did you do this?" I asked as I continued to trace the symbol with our names on it. "About a week or so ago. I wanted to give it time to set up and heal before I showed it to you." I was mesmerized by it. I admit that I had never really found tattoos attractive on a guy, but this tattoo, like the first one we'd gotten together, only accentuated the fiery hot sexiness that was Bear Davidson. "I love it," I said in a whisper as I placed my hand flat on his pec. "Are you sure?" He asked sounding a bit self-conscious. I didn't respond with words. I instead removed my hand and kissed the spot where the tattoo was. It wasn't lost on me that not only had he gotten such a personal tattoo but that he had gotten it on his chest. That meant anyone who saw him without a shirt on would know where his heart lay. Normally, that would only be me, but Bear was a football player which meant he would be half naked and naked around a bunch of jocks a lot and they would see the tattoo and know that he'd claimed another guy as his forever. It worried me and made my heart swell both at the same time. I mean, sure his college team already knew about us but one day he'd be playing pro and that tattoo would be hard to explain away. "I don't care what anyone else has to say about it. I love it and I love you. This is a symbol of my devotion to you. To do everything in my power to be everything you need me to be," he said, and I was unable to stop the tear that leaked from my eye. "I needed to hear that," I said before I buried my face in his chest. He hugged me tight and feeling his arms around me soothed me further. As Bear held me and I felt that force that he always seemed to be able to impart to me, like he was a generator and I was a battery that needed juice, the conversation with my mother started to fade. I started to feel in my head and my heart that Bear was my forever. I started to feel something that I'd felt before Alicia and her baby, only stronger. I realized that I started to trust him, like I hadn't before. I still wasn't ready to send him off to Alicia and her child, but I had faith that I was getting there. "Come on, let me take care of you," he said, and the smile that formed on my face stretched as far as I've ever felt before. He took me to his room and did things to me that made my toes curl. The man was a sex genius and I think he knew it based on the grin on his face when he did something to make me shout. It was a good thing that his teammates already knew about us because they would have most definitely have figured it out from my moaning and shouting Bear's name. Once we'd finished, we went to take a long steamy shower, in more ways than one. We then returned to Bear's room where I helped him change his bed as we'd made a mess of the sheets. We then crashed on the bed and I cuddled up to Bear. He held me tight and I was lulled to sleep by the sound of his beating heart. ******** "Wake up sleepyhead," I heard along with someone gently shaking me. "Huh," I said as I jolted awake. That was something that I'd gotten used to since returning to school. "The alarm on your phone was going off," he said as he handed my phone to me. I looked and saw that it was the warning that my class was in an hour. "I slept all afternoon," I said mostly to myself. "You needed it, so I let you sleep," he said as he looked at me. He was trying to hide worry, but he wasn't succeeding all that well. "Thanks," I said before I leaned over and gave him a brief kiss. "Lay down on your stomach," he said, and I smiled. "What for?" I asked with a teasing smirk. "Not that, dirty mind," he corrected, but he was smiling. "Okay." I said before I laid down on my stomach with my head at the foot of his bed. I heard the cap of a bottle pop and I thought that he was a liar as I smiled. We had enough time for a little fun and for me to take a quick shower before my class. I was surprised though when I heard his hands rubbing together then he placed his strong hands firmly on my shoulders. When he started to knead the muscles there it hurt at first then it felt good. Then it felt amazing as he continued the treatment. His hands moved over my back applying gentle, then hard pressure as he rubbed and kneaded my muscles. It was amazing and I can't believe that it never occurred to me to give him a massage. I'm sure he needed one more than me, but I was still thankful. Anyway, I had plenty of time to reciprocate. "So, I met someone," he said, and I know he felt when I tensed up because he stopped. "Oh," I said trying to keep my cool until he finished which I could tell he hadn't. It took enormous willpower to resist throwing him off me and doing unspeakably horrible things to his nuts. "Her name is Artemis, and I met her in my Intro to Black Studies class," he said, and of course it was a she. While I knew Bear was bisexual, I knew that if someone ended up turning his head, I should expect it to be a woman. Then something else he'd said jumped out at me. "Black Studies?" I said and he chuckled as he resumed the massage. "Yeah, I figured that would jump out at you," he said as he chuckled some more. "This whole elaborate thing was to tell me about this class, wasn't it? I'll bet you didn't even really meet this "Artemis" girl," I said, and he continued to chuckle. "Yes and no. I did meet her, and before you start thinking things, she's part of the family," he said with emphasis on the word family. I was confused for a second before I looked back at him and he raised his eyebrows and looked pointedly at me telling me what I needed to know. "Oh," I said before I laid back down. She's part of "The Family". "L or B?" I asked as Bear continued my massage. "L," he said as he moved down to my legs. He was very serious about this massage. It wasn't a play massage as I felt my muscles loosening up and the tension fading from them as he went on. "Why Black Studies? That can't be on the regular curriculum that was laid out for your major," I said, and he chuckled a bit. "No, it's not. I had to take it extra. As for why I'm taking it, well, my boyfriend happens to be Black, so I think I need to know more than the cursory amount of information and history of Black people," he said, and I was a bit impressed with his response. "So, what, are you gonna become an activist now or something?" I asked even though that wasn't such a bad idea. "Maybe," he said simply as he moved down to my feet. "Even though I can't ever really know of the Black experience, of the struggles of Black people in this country, I feel like I should at least know about it. That way it can better inform my interactions with you, your family, and my Black friends. Really just any Black people I interact with from now on," he said, and I was highly impressed with his response. I had to raise up and kiss him. When we separated, he told me to lay back down so he could finish. "Bear, I didn't really know how much I needed to hear that from you. I see so much in the news now and... I just needed to hear that," I said, and he hummed before I felt him lean down and he placed a lingering kiss on the spot right behind my ear. He told me to flip over and I did. He let loose a deep chuckle when he saw my dick was standing at attention. "As much as I want to take care of that, I think the rest of your body needs me first," he said with a teasing smile. "Well, something is gonna have to be done about it, especially if your gonna keep rubbing those wonderful hands of yours on me," I said, and he chuckled again before flashing me a toothy grin. "Later," he said with a teasing smile before he started working on my pecs. While I did want some attention on my friend still standing at attention, the massage was so good that I could forgive him ignoring my dick. "Fine," I pouted, mostly for show. "So, tell me about Artemis. Is she pretty?" I said, even though I couldn't care less. I just needed the distraction. "Very. She's a few inches shorter than you and she has long skinny braids down her back. Her complexion is close to Liberty's and she doesn't look like she's ever had a pimple or zit in her life. She wears glasses, and I can already tell that she's gonna be busting my balls a lot," he said as he moved from my chest to my arms. Hearing him describe her, and how he sounded when he did so was very effective in killing my erection. "Sounds great," I said with a fake smile. "You're jealous," he said while frowning at me. "No, I'm not," I lied, and turned my head away from him. He reached over and grasped my chin to get me to look back at him. He looked into my eyes and I looked into his eyes as well. I thought about what he was doing, what he had been doing since I arrived at his place. I found that feeling I'd felt earlier, and he seemed to see it in my eyes because he smiled and leaned down to kiss me. "Thank you, Trey. I know it's not easy, and it'll probably take some more time for you to trust me again. I promise I'll do everything I can to earn your trust again and I'll promise to try and understand when you're jealous. I can't promise to never do anything to make you jealous but know that I'll never do anything to purposely do so," he said, and damn if he didn't know how to touch my heart. "I'll promise to try and rid myself of this pesky jealousy. For both our sakes," I said. I didn't elaborate further as while I was working up the courage to talk to him about his daughter, I wasn't there yet. We shared another long kiss. "Okay, all done for now. It's time for you to get ready for class," he said after we separated. "Aw, but I thought you were gonna take care of something," I said as I looked down as my dick that was back at half-mast. "I said later. I didn't mean later today," he said with a teasing smirk. "Liar," I said before I begrudgingly got up. I grabbed my clothes and headed for the bathroom for another quick shower to wash off the oil. Before I got to the door to open it, I was surprised when I was quickly pressed up against the door of his bedroom. I felt Bear's half hard dick in the crevice of my ass as he rubbed it up and down while he suckled on that spot behind my right ear. He then spun me around and leered at me like a predator when he saw that I was rock hard again. He sunk to his knees and devoured my dick and I almost laughed because that's what he had said he'd do when he saw me. That thought was chased away when he swirled his tongue on the head and my knees buckled. He held me up though and went back to his expert tongue work. After a couple minutes, he'd managed to work his way to the root, and I could feel the head of my dick in his throat. He started swallowing while tweaking my left nipple and alternating between fondling my nuts and pressing behind them. That pushed me over the edge in an explosive orgasm. Bear swallowed my jizz, cleaned off my dick, then stood up with a proud smile on his face. "Better," he said as he leaned down and rested his forehead against mine. "Wonderful," I said breathlessly. He leaned in gave me a deep kiss. "Good, now go get ready for class," he said as he stepped back. I opened the door to his room and looked at him looking proud and so in love. I felt it in my entire being and I hated myself for not trusting him like I should. I blew him a kiss before heading to the bathroom. I rushed through another shower and used the toothbrush he'd stashed for me to brush my teeth. I put my clothes back on and walked out to find Bear sitting on the couch in his boxer briefs looking a book for one of his classes. He got up and walked me to the door and told me again that he loved me. I returned the sentiment and gave him one last kiss to remember until we saw each other again. He was smiling big as he let me out of the door. I blew him another kiss as I reluctantly left him there. As I sat in class, I couldn't keep the smile off my face. Reese noticed and asked me what had happened to me as I had been dragging a lot lately. I told him I'd just had a good day. He didn't know that I was gay so I'm sure he thought that my non-existent girlfriend had probably rocked my world. As I sat there feeling much more attentive, I realized that I was more relaxed than I'd been in ages. I smiled that my knight in shining muscles was making good on his promise to do everything he could to ease the burden my school work was placing on me. I vowed to return the favor as soon as I could.
