David (dlee169@hotmail.com) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tommy and Tanner, Chapter 43 Peter and Lee had made plans to have their Illinois ceremony take place as soon as the new law allowing civil unions between same-sex couples went into effect. Although their Iowa marriage wouldn't be recognized in Illinois, for them it would always remain as their official wedding date. Despite the formal recognition this additional ceremony would give to their union, they still worked with a lawyer to protect their rights as a couple if one of them took ill while they were traveling or if they ever decided to move to another state where their union wouldn't be recognized. Dorothy had agreed to fly in for the event and was bringing Herbert with her. The men were thrilled that she'd be among the limited guests that they'd invited. Since Lee had to work on Thursday, Peter picked up their guests at O'Hare at 2:00 p.m. His timing was down to the minute as he and Jared spotted them at the luggage carousel. They made introductions while waiting for the bags. Both men were sizing each other up, and both seemed to have favorable impressions. Herbert appeared to be genuinely friendly as opposed to putting on a "company" face. He took the time to talk with Jared, which pleased Peter to no end. Dorothy looked healthier and livelier than she had when she'd left some 10 months ago. Peter wondered if it had to do with the warm Florida climate or finding companionship with a man who appeared to dote on her. In their conversation, Peter was able to deduce that Herbert was a man of means, and not someone trying to find a widow to support him. That boded well too. When the luggage finally appeared on the conveyer belt, Peter grabbed both pieces quickly and Jared volunteered to pull one of them. Dorothy was not surprised that a boy who was living with Lee and Peter would have good manners. It warmed her heart. She had been told a little about Jared, but not all that much. While she was interested in his story, she wasn't going to pry for details. Peter, Lee, and probably Jared himself, would no doubt fill her in as they felt it appropriate. When they got home, Peter asked Dorothy and Herbert if they would like to stay with them or if they would prefer to stay at the condo. The couple chose to stay with Lee and Peter. "Contrary to what you hear about senior citizens, not all of us are sleeping together without the benefits of marriage," Dorothy grinned. "I'll be happy to sleep in whatever room you have made up for me and Herbert will stay in another one." "That's what we assumed," Peter smiled in return. "I have Tuck's and Tommy and Tanner's old rooms both ready. Jared will be sleeping downstairs in the room Tim had, so neither of you has to climb the stairs." "Oh, are we putting you out, Jared?" Dorothy exclaimed. "Not at all," Jared piped up. "It's the biggest bedroom other than Peter and Lee's and I've been thinking about moving there anyway. It's really cool with the bathroom right next to it. I feel like a rich boy having so many choices and so many things. You should see the new bike my dads bought me for my birthday! It's in the garage." "We'll come right out and have a look." Dorothy said as Herbert nodded in agreement. Peter had known Dorothy would immediately "adopt" Jared as another grandson. He would tell her later how pleased he was. Jared's grandparents on his father's side were deceased and his mother's parents were alcoholics who lived across the country and had never had too much time for either of the boys. Herbert and Dorothy made all the right comments about the new bicycle. Herbert was especially fascinated by the bike trailer. He got down on the garage floor with Jared while the boy showed him all the details. It was obvious that he was proud of his part in the construction. As a retired mechanical engineer, Herbert was quite impressed, and was effusive in his praise. When Lee got home from work, he found everyone having a good visit sitting in the kitchen around the table Dorothy had given him. He was as impressed with Herbert as Peter was. But then, he had to admit that Dorothy was too sharp to have taken up with someone who wasn't a fine person. ---------- The afternoon of their civil union and celebration turned out to be nearly as perfect as day of their wedding in Iowa, only about 15 degrees warmer. Dorothy, Herbert, Jared, and the entire Torrance clan accompanied Peter and Lee to the courthouse to witness the event. The judge did her best to make it meaningful, but it paled considerably compared with their Iowa wedding. The whole thing took about 10 minutes and mostly involved signing a paper, after confirming that both were entering this union of their own free will and under no duress. Still, it had significance in the state of Illinois and was important in that sense. Their small reception was held at the Torrance residence. A few additional people had been invited for that – mainly ones they worked with. Dr. Chandler and his wife came, as well as Lucile Peshel who was a longtime friend. Peter had invited Rita Jones and a couple of other counselors he'd worked with. Both men had wanted Pastor Anna to attend if she could and were pleased to see her. Everyone on the list showed up to the celebration, which made the event especially meaningful for Peter and Lee. Of course, the men had hired Jennifer Baker to cater, and had invited her to bring Brendon along. When the young lad saw the Torrance boys arrive, he came running to greet them. Initially he was a bit shy around Jared, but soon warmed up to him as well. The late afternoon party consisted of heavy hors d'oeuvres which would serve as supper for several of the guests. The boys would skip that meal and be snacking later at night. Dorothy and Herbert wouldn't want anything else to eat other than a bit of popcorn before bedtime. Jared had brought along toiletries and a change of clothes in order to stay over with Tuck and his brothers. He was looking forward to sleeping in Tuck's room, wanting to find out if the boy was as straight as Bobby had said. When Dorothy and Herbert found out that they would be the only ones staying at Peter and Lee's place, they suggested that the couple go to Lee's condo for their honeymoon instead of entertaining them. "We've already had our honeymoon when we got married in Iowa," Lee smiled. "We'd be poor hosts if we went off and left you on your own." "No one can have too many honeymoons," Dorothy said wisely. "Unless you don't trust two old people in your home alone, you should have the freedom to express your love without the fear of being interrupted or overheard. Since we're here for two weeks or more, you'll be tired of us before we leave anyway. Please go have fun!" "Mom, you're incorrigible!" Lee giggled. "But if you two want to be left alone, we'll go to the condo for the night. We'll be back in the morning." "Don't rush back. We can certainly make our own breakfast. You boys sleep in." Lee and Peter didn't argue. ---------- Peter and Lee enjoyed a rather wild night of uninhibited sex. They had been careful not to run around the house naked in Jared's presence and had tried to make love quietly since he'd come to stay with them. It wasn't that he didn't know they were husbands or that he would have been shocked by what they did, but they still felt the need to be guarded. Eventually, they'd have to get over it or miss out on a lot of good sex. They started by stripping each other the minute they got into the condo. Their goal was not to put on a stitch of clothing until they went back to the house the next morning. Having brought along leftovers from their party and stopping for breakfast items on the way, there would be no reason to go out for the next 17 hours. It WOULD be a second honeymoon. Their first stop was the big shower in the master bathroom. Using plenty of shower gel, they thoroughly cleansed each other's body, kissing and caressing along the way. Then they lay across the bed, kissing and fondling some more. Lee got out the vibrating dildos they'd purchased in Cosgrove for their first honeymoon, and the guys soon employed them in sending each other close to the stratosphere as they lay in the 69 position. Being alone, they were able to vocalize their feelings with abandon; each one's reactions turning the other on more and more. Finally, they took each other's cock in their mouth for a few minutes before they blasted the first shots of the night. After they'd cuddled in the afterglow, they headed for the kitchen to snack on leftovers to help replenish the calories they'd burned. Feeding each other finger foods helped set the mood for their next romantic encounter. Then they wrapped towels around their waists and headed out to the hot tub in their small, secluded yard. No one could easily see through the high board fence, but they still submerged their bodies quickly. About half an hour later, sated with food, wine, and a warm soak, they adjourned again to the bedroom. They made out for several minutes before Peter lay on his back with his legs pulled up to his chest. There was no missing that invitation, and Lee didn't. When Lee finished filling his husband's chute with his seed, he lay back to become the receiver. Peter didn't last long at all because of having been so close to orgasm a few minutes before. The tired, but happy couple took a quick shower and went to sleep, not awakening until 9:00 a.m. ---------- Back at Peter's place, soon to become Lee's home too, Dorothy and Herbert cuddled on the couch watching TV and sharing a bag of microwave popcorn. Both were enjoying the kind of closeness that neither had experienced in several years. "I'd love to hold you all night like this," Herbert sighed. "I think you're becoming a dirty old man," Dorothy giggled. "I prefer to be thought of as a sexy senior citizen!" Herbert exclaimed. "Would you consent to marry me soon?" "We've been seeing each other less than a year. What will people think?" Dorothy answered. "Who cares what other people think?" he countered. "We knew each other in college and we still have a lot in common. It's not like we're strangers. Besides, at our age we have a lot less time than these young kids. What do you say?" "I say yes! How soon do you want to tie the knot?" "Since we're scheduled to be here about three weeks, do you think your pastor would agree to perform the ceremony in that timeframe?" "I suspect she could be persuaded, though she'll want to counsel with us at least once before then. If not, we could marry in Florida or come back later." "You really love these people and this community, don't you?" "I do. What are you thinking? I see that look in your eyes." "What if we were to buy a condo – Lee's perhaps? We could keep mine for our winter home and you could sell or rent yours. You got it at a good enough price that you won't lose by selling it even though you've not lived there long." "That's a great idea! Let's do it." They cuddled a bit longer and fell asleep just before the 10:00 o'clock news, not awakening until around 3:00 a.m. when a thunderstorm rolled through. ---------- The storm awakened a few people at the Torrance residence, but not Tommy and Tanner. They could have slept through Armageddon. Jared, however, awakened from a nightmare with a cry. Evidently the first clap of thunder had triggered some unpleasant memory. Thankfully, the second crash jolted him out of the dream, but he was still shaking in fear. Tucker, half awake, crossed the bedroom to the trundle and slipped into bed with Jared. Both had chosen to sleep in their underwear since they weren't alone. Therefore, there was nothing sensual in their bodily contact. Upon feeling Tuck's comforting embrace, Jared rapidly calmed down and fell asleep again. Tuck was so drowsy that he scarcely remembered any of it in the morning. The same noises awakened Tori who cried out in fear. It was Tim who put on his boxers and stumbled down the hall to pick her up. He sat down in the rocker/recliner in her room to calm her. Minutes later, they were both sound asleep. When another bolt of lightning struck nearby, Teri got up to check on Tori. She smiled in the dark at the sight of her firstborn and lastborn together in the chair. She carefully draped a lightweight throw over the pair to make them more comfortable. No one else seemed to be stirring, so she went back to bed. As she climbed in, Tark roused enough to snuggle up to her back. Jared awakened around 7:30 with a need to pee. He put off going to the bathroom as long as he could so as not to disturb Tuck. He figured once Tuck woke up, he'd get out of their shared bed very quickly. Tuck looked so cute. His bed-head hair framed his angelic face making Jared want to kiss him. He didn't dare, of course, but he was tempted. Finally, his bladder wouldn't let him tarry any longer and he eased out of bed before making a beeline for the toilet. When he crawled back into bed, he discovered that Tuck was awake. "Mornin'" Tuck grinned. "How do you feel today?" "I'm good," Jared said. "Thanks for being here in the night. I had an awful dream that Dirk was doing things to me and I couldn't get away." "What kind of things?" Tuck asked with concern in his voice. "Didn't Tommy or Tanner tell you what he did to me?" "Nope. They aren't the kind to tell other people's business." "That's cool! I'll tell you if you promise to keep it secret. I mean the social worker knows, but I don't want the guys at school to know or they'll probably see me as a target." "I promise I won't tell. You can say whatever you're comfortable with." "Thanks. Dirk used me like a girl," Jared admitted, beginning to cry. "It was awful!" "I'm so sorry," Tuck said as he put an arm around Jared's shoulder. Jared melted into him, putting his head on Tuck's chest. Tuck didn't pull away or even flinch. He held his new friend until the latter quieted down and fell back to sleep. The next time Jared awoke, the sun was shining through the window and onto his face. Tuck was nowhere to be seen. Jared lay there a few minutes trying to clear the cobwebs from his brain. Had it all been a dream, or did Tuck spend part of the night in his bed? "Ah, the sleeping prince arises?" Tuck teased as he came into the room, clad only in a towel with his hair damp and uncombed. "You sure are an active sleeper. I think my leg is bruised. I'm just lucky you didn't kick me in the nuts!" "Sorry!" Jared exclaimed. "Uh, thanks again for being nice to me." "Sure thing. Why shouldn't I be? You're a good guy, and my cousin." Tuck grinned. "You'd better take a quick shower and at least put on underwear. I smell breakfast!" Jared followed his advice, but put in a T and shorts as well, not knowing how casual the boys were about dressing most mornings. ---------- When Peter and Lee came back to the house around 10:30, they found Dorothy and Herbert sitting at the kitchen table having a second cup of coffee. "Have you boys had your caffeine yet?" Dorothy asked. "No, we had juice and cereal, but no coffee." Lee answered. "Well, sit down and let Mom pour you a cup. Herbert and I have a proposition that I think you're going to like." "She's gonna make you an offer you can't refuse," Herbert joked as he attempted to imitate Marlin Brando. After Dorothy and Herbert explained their desire to buy Lee's condo, the young men shook their heads in disbelief. "Herbert, you haven't even seen the place! How can you make an offer?" "Oh, I'll be glad to look at it, but I trust Dorothy's judgment. Besides, she's paying for it. When would be a good time to see it?" "We could give you a tour this afternoon, I guess. We need to pick up a bit because we slept late and haven't even made the bed." Lee grinned. "Unfortunately it doesn't come with maid service." Their discussion continued as the morning progressed. Lee told Dorothy and Herbert that his condo was listed at about $5,000 more than he expected to get for it. He mentioned a lower figure that he felt was a fair price. Dorothy said she would go along with whatever Lee wanted, assuming that Herbert would be happy living there. The men left around 11:00, saying they'd be back at noon with gyros or Italian beef sandwiches from Chiggi's. After finding out what their guests would like, they hurried to straighten up and air out the condo. Since Lee was driving, Peter made the call to see what Jared had planned and what he wanted for lunch. Jared said that he was invited to stay for lunch and begged to be excused. Seeing that he was having a great time with his friends, the men saw no reason to make him come home. ---------- Herbert loved the condo as much as Dorothy did, and seeing his positive reaction, she asked Lee to arrange for the realtor to draw up the papers as soon as possible. It didn't take long for Linda Marquardt to appear at the door. The real estate market had been very tough of late, and she was thrilled to have a nibble that looked like it might become a done deal. She had bills of her own to pay, including a mortgage that was putting a strain on her budget. This might turn out to be the easiest sale she'd ever made! There were a few details to be discussed about association dues and amenities, but the whole process took less time than having a cleaning at the dentist. It would take a few weeks for everything to be finalized, but Dorothy casually signed a check for the full amount of the sale. Lee's head was still spinning. He had barely listed his place and now it was sold. He wasn't all that attached to the property as such, but it had been the site of a number of great times with Peter. Ah, there would be many more memories to be made together. Love was a lot more important than location. Wow, he'd have to decide what furnishing to keep and what to sell. Perhaps he'd keep his favorites and leave the rest for the Dorothy and Herbert. He didn't begrudge Dorothy anything he had, so it would be a matter of what Herbert's and her desires were. With the money from the condo, Lee would be able to put a sizeable down payment on Tark and Teri's old house. That would ensure a great interest rate and monthly payments that would be quite low. Combined with his other assets, he could have purchased the Torrance's house outright, but that wouldn't have gone over well with Peter who wanted to pull his own weight in their relationship. Besides, having extra money in the bank would allow them more financial freedom. They would have funds to travel as well as to provide for Jared's education after high school. What a great turn of events Dorothy's return had created! ---------- Jared didn't want to see Saturday come to an end. He'd been having a great time with Tuck, Tommy, and Tanner. They had even taught him a few elementary kempo moves. The idea of being able to defend himself had great appeal to a boy who'd felt fear and intimidation for so long. He secretly hoped he'd be able to master it so he could kick the crap out of his older brother someday if the opportunity ever presented itself. When Tuck asked Teri to call Lee or Peter to get permission for him to stay a second night, Jared was overjoyed. He'd had no indication from Tuck that anything sexual would occur, but that was okay. Jared really needed good friends more than getting off. In a way, it was cool to be around other boys who had no expectations of messing around. It was awesome that they liked him for himself and not for how they might use him. Of course, he hoped that maybe Bobby and he could have a repeat of their mowing break. Jared didn't feel anything emotional for Bobby, but the sex had been great! ---------- Sunday was a big day for Dorothy. When she went to church, everyone greeted her like a long-lost relative. Pastor Anna was especially pleased to see her there because she had always been a source of emotional support as well as being generous in donating to the church's missions. When the subject of a quick wedding was broached, Anna was open to doing it. She did insist that they have at least one session with her in which she would administer a compatibility assessment as she did for all the couples she married. It was her aim to find any red flags that might lead to future conflicts, and head them off before giving couples her blessing. She was realistic in assuming that some marriages wouldn't last despite all her precautions, but she was going to do everything in her power to change divorce statistics. ---------- Lee had arranged to take Monday as well as the previous Friday off from his job. He'd used the excuse of wanting another honeymoon day, but he was really trying to keep Peter from having the major responsibility of entertaining their elderly guests. Sure, Peter was off of work for the summer, but he now had the additional duty of parenting Jared. Monday's entertainment ended up being a trip to a local car dealer where Herbert wanted to go after surfing the `net for fair prices. He'd gone through Edmunds.com and connected with truecar.com to find a dealer in Schaumburg who would guarantee a fair, haggle-free price. Herbert had decided they would need a car kept at the condo for their use when in Illinois instead of driving the long distance to bring his from Florida. Dorothy had undergone cataract surgery a few months before and was cleared to take the driving test again. She wasn't sure how much of that she'd be doing, but wanted the security of a valid license if Herbert got sick and couldn't get them home sometime. Herbert resisted all the add-ons the salesman was expected to push, and he wrote a check for the car within an hour after entering the dealership. It would be prepped and ready as soon as his check cleared the bank. Next, they went to Woodfield Mall so Dorothy could buy some new shoes for her wedding and get a few of boxes of Frango Mints from Macy's. To her, it was still, and always would be, Marshall Field's; at least they had kept the candy if not the name. She wanted to give the treats to the Torrance and Baker families as well as Lee, Peter and Jared. ---------- Jared had been spared the shopping trip because of needing to help with mowing. Since Tommy, Tanner, and Andy were all taking drivers' training several mornings per week, Devin and the younger boys had more responsibility in keeping up the lawn business. That was fine with them. There was a certain satisfaction in being able to earn part of one's own keep. And none of them was lazy! Monday's job was a huge lawn in Inverness. The homeowners were fussy, but paid handsomely. Since it required the use of the riding mower, Devin came over and hooked up the trailer to his pickup. Tuck called shotgun, which put Jared and Bobby in the back seat. It didn't seem to bother either one of them that their bare knees touched as they sat slightly sideways in the cramped space. In fact, Bobby moved his leg up and down slightly while grinning at Jared. Jared threw wood almost immediately and hoped he'd be able to get it under control before they had to get out. The mowing and trimming took a couple of hours, and the boys stopped about midway to have a snack. They had already gone through a lot of water because of perspiring almost constantly. Devin rode the big mower for the first half, and relinquished it to Tuck for the second. He then took over one of the smaller mowers to trim, and do the areas around the patio where it was difficult to maneuver the big machine. Jared and Bobby traded off on the other small mower, doing hand trimming and weeding as needed. They worked well as a team and everyone kept busy while they were there. Since the homeowner was at work, Devin made the final walk-around inspection. After he'd hand trimmed a couple of extra spots and checked that the boys had blown the stray clippings off the walks and patio, he pronounced it good. Then he drove back to the Torrance residence where Teri had lunch ready for all of them. After lunch, Bobby invited Tuck and Jared over to his house to play video games, but Tuck couldn't go because of his appointment with the dentist to fill a small cavity that had shown up in the x-rays at his last visit. Jared called Peter to get permission to go even if Tuck couldn't join them. "Wanna take a dip in our pool" Bobby asked as he and Jared biked up to his house. "Sure, but I don't have anything to wear." "That's okay. Mom and Dad are at work and I go skinny when I'm home alone." "You're sure we won't be seen?" "Yup, it's pretty private. Dad and Mom do that sometimes too, so they wouldn't have a cow if they did find us naked." "That's cool!" Since they were hot and sweaty, Bobby suggested that they take a quick shower before diving in. He told Jared to go first and he'd be second. Jared was a little disappointed, hoping that they might share. But, he was happy at the prospect of going naked in the pool anyway. Thinking about it made him rock hard and he tried to hide that with the towel wrapped around his waist as he came out. Bobby gave him a cheeky grin, letting him know that he'd seen the evidence. The cool water soon brought their boy parts under control as they splashed around, enjoying the refreshing feeling after their hot morning. Bobby swam underwater to where Jared was standing and came up between his legs lifting him on his shoulder. "Whoa, how did you do that? I'm as big as you are." "But you don't weigh all that much in the water and neither do I. I'll bet you could lift me." Jared wanted to try, but he also enjoyed the feeling of his balls and dick against Bobby's neck. After a couple of minutes, he was successful in hoisting Bobby on his shoulders. It felt equally good to have Bobby's junk against his neck. "See, I told you I'm not any bigger than you are," Bobby giggled. "Uh, you feel really big against my neck," Jared said, fearing he might be going too far. "You felt really big too," Bobby responded, panting. "Should we go lie on the deck and compare?" "Yeah!" Jared giggled. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Author's notes: Thanks to all who emailed recently. It seems like there are new people every week!
