David (dlee169@hotmail.com) -------------------------------------------------------------------- Tommy and Tanner, Chapter 82 While many things are in flux, school is one of the constants in the lives of most teens. When it began again right after New Year's Day, the high school kids were back in the classrooms -- some raring to go, and some not so eager. Tommy and Tanner were looking forward to completing their senior year and to get the legal process going in order to become partners and get married. Early in January, they sat down with the lawyer who'd expedited Tanner's adoption to ask him how it could be undone. Mr. Neuhaus looked at them quizzically when they initially told him why they were there. "Are you unhappy with the Torrance family?" he asked Tanner. "Not at all; I've felt more love in our home than I did with my own father. They ARE my family!" "But, I don't understand..." "What he hasn't explained yet is that he's felt a special kind of love from one member. That would be me," Tommy smiled. "We've discovered that adopted brothers can't become domestic partners or spouses in most states. We need to have his present status nullified in order to become partners and husbands." "Okay, that makes sense. It looks like you guys have done your homework. It shouldn't be a big hassle if all parties agree to it. However, who would be your guardian, Tanner? Someone would have to sign for you if you choose to become a couple before you're adults. As I recall, you're both under 18." "My uncle Lee has agreed to fill that role," Tanner answered. "He found me after I'd been adopted and didn't want to mess my life up by removing me from my family, but he said he'll be glad to do whatever makes me happy." "Does he approve of your same-sex relationship?" "He'd better! He has a husband of his own." "Very well, let me give you a couple of tentative times we could all meet and then you can see how they fit everyone's schedules. In the mean time, I can draw up the necessary papers. If everyone agrees to the terms, all that would be needed are signatures and the official stamp of approval from the court system." ---------- About a week later, Tommy and Tanner missed part of their afternoon swim practice in order to meet in Mr. Neuhaus' office with Teri, Tark, Lee, and Peter beside them. After a few questions to make sure everyone concurred, the lawyer showed them where to sign. "Will my name have to be changed?" Tanner asked. "I'd really like it to remain Torrance -- especially when we get married." "I don't see any problem with retaining it," Mr. Neuhaus said. "If you're a ward of Lee and Peter and you have your birth certificate to show you're not related by blood, I can't see it will matter. It's all silly anyway! Even if you were blood brothers, it's not like your union could produce offspring. The laws against incest were created to prevent defects and anomalies in babies. But, the law hasn't caught up with 21st Century society. Of course part of society doesn't appear to be living in this century either." "While we're on the subject of name-changes, would you draw up a document to have Tommy's first name legally changed to `Thomas' instead of `Terrance' since he doesn't like it?" Teri requested. "You don't have to do that, Mom. I'm okay with it like it is." "No, Honey, I want to. You've been `Tommy' since you were quite small and it's WHO you are. Please let me do this." "Thanks, Mom," Tommy said as he squeezed her hand. "I didn't want to hurt your feelings." "You haven't. I should have thought ahead and named you Thomas or Toby or Travis or something that wasn't so different. I should probably offer Tucker the same option." "Nah, he loves his name now that he's almost a grown-up; just ask him." ---------- Everyone headed separate ways from the lawyer's office. Teri went home, Lee drove back to his office, and the rest went to school for a while. Tommy and Tanner wanted to get in a few laps yet before supper. Coach Lewis was pleased to see their dedication. He was pretty sure that along with Andy and Devin, they could kick some serious ass in the finals. Their performance in meets against rival schools had been great so far. "Okay, what was so important that you had to miss my superior training?" he joked. "We had to alter one relationship so we can seal another," Tanner said enigmatically. "Hmm... That sounds serious." "It is for us," Tommy grinned. "We have to quit being brothers so we can become husbands. Is that too much information?" "Nope, not for me; I've always know you were close. Are you going to do it before you graduate?" "We hope to." "Well, congratulations. I hope it all works out. Now get out there and bust your tails!" ---------- Dr. Moore was mildly surprised by a call she received at school midweek, but not astonished. "This is Oliver Lawrence. I was wondering if you'd consider meeting me at the Safari Lounge after school on Friday for a drink. I'd like to catch up with how things are going with Quentin and you." "I'd be delighted, but I'll have to clear it with my housemate. I don't want him left alone more than necessary; he needs people around who care. I think Barry Boswell is coming over, so that would probably work. May I call you back later this evening, Judge?" "Please feel free, and please call me Oliver. We needn't be so formal." "Very well, Oliver. Please call me Susan." "I'd be pleased to do so. I hope it works out... Say, isn't Barry the young man who tormented Quentin, causing him to crack?" "The same; you'd never believe the miraculous changes he's made! Now the two of them are becoming friends. It looks like a win/win. They've found they have a lot in common." "Great! I'll be eager to hear all about it." ---------- "You want permission from me to go out on a date?" Quentin giggled when Susan told him about Judge Lawrence's invitation. "It's not like that, you naughty boy! This is just two professional people with some common interests having a sociable drink and catching up. You'll probably be the main topic of conversation, not me! And besides, I don't even know his marital status. For all I know, he may have a wife who will join us." "I don't think so and I saw how he looked at you after my sentencing. Before, I was too scared to notice anything, but when it was all over, I took everything in. I wonder if he went easier on me because he was interested in you." "I doubt it; he's a man of integrity. He wouldn't compromise justice to please a lady, even in the off chance that he was interested. He truly felt you'd been dealt a bad hand and deserved a do-over." "Whatever his motivation, I'm thankful to him. And you know that goes double for you. I feel like I'm in a fairytale world. In real life people don't get plucked out of poverty and bullying so easily." "You are great kid! I'll be pleased to have you officially as my second son." "Do you think Gavin will be okay with having a little brother who's a jailbird?" "Gavin knows all about your brush with the law and hasn't said anything negative. I'm sure he'll be fine with it." "I'm kinda nervous about meeting him. When did you say he'll be home?" "His tour of duty is over in a few weeks, but he'll want time with his wife and the little ones before he comes to see old mom. Don't obsess over it! I know he's gonna love you." ---------- The Safari Lounge was an upscale drinking establishment with lots of potted plants and soft background music. The man behind the bar was a "mixologist," not an ordinary bartender, and the prices reflected it. Oliver was seated on a plush lounge chair when Susan entered, and he arose quickly to greet her. The hostess led them to a quiet corner which was also furnished with comfortable chairs flanked by attractive chrome and glass tables conveniently placed to hold drinks and hors d'oeuvres. They made small talk about their jobs until their orders had been filled and then Oliver inquired about Quentin. He was delighted to hear all the details about the boy's progress and seemed to hang on every word. Susan felt she'd been correct about his motive for inviting her out. "What you're doing for him is really great, Susan. Do you realize what might have happened to him in a juvenile detention facility? He might have come out a hardened criminal." "Yes, I know how they can turn out. I've dealt with enough troubled teens to have a pretty good perspective." "Of course you have. You're a realist as well as a kind person. I find those qualities to be very attractive ones in a lady. Some school administrators come off as martinets, but you have a heart! You remind me of my late wife in that regard." "I didn't know you were a widower. Please accept my sympathy, or empathy, I should more correctly say. I lost John six years ago. It was particularly hard on Gavin because he was in college at the time." "It's been three years for me, although it seems more like four. Janet had a brain tumor and wasn't really `here' for the last year of her life. It was very difficult for Avery too. He must be about the age of your Gavin. We seem to have more things in common than I'd imagined." When they parted after an hour or so, Susan wasn't quite so certain that his interest had all been about Quentin's welfare. ---------- Although there'd been swimming and wrestling meets in November and December, the big competitions were happening in January and into February this year. Naturally, the boys in the Torrance household were actively involved. It was difficult for Tark to attend some of the swim meets because of conflicts with the wresting schedule. Therefore, Teri did her best to be there. Lee joined her at the swimming competitions when Jared wasn't on the mat. Tuck had hardly been able to breathe between the end of football and beginning of wrestling, but he was excelling in both this year, so felt he could always rest later. Jared, Bobby, Austin, and he were all doing quite well so far, and were hoping to take some state titles. Austin had settled into his new school quickly in the past year's time because of having Jared, Tuck, and Bobby as friends. He was liked by lots of the students and teachers. Tark was pleased to be able to work with him in wrestling. The boy certainly had talent and would be a valuable asset to the team as long as he could be convinced not pull any dirty tricks like messing with his opponents' privates to break their focus. Tark knew that many wrestlers copped a feel at times. He'd done it himself, but he wanted his guys to win fair and square. What they did with each other in their own time was none of his business. The acid test for Austin came on a Friday night when he had to wrestle his love interest, Troy Bentley. Both of them wanted to win, but both supported each other in their efforts. Troy knew that Austin might make a grab for his goodies in order to distract him and he tried to inoculate himself against it by jacking off shortly before their competition was scheduled. The contest between them was genuine and they were pretty evenly matched. Each gave it his best. Almost every position they got into seemed to involve intimate contact. It was hard for them to concentrate, but they tried. In the end, there was no decisive sign of victory like a pin. However, Austin prevailed by the judges' decision. When they got up off the mat, Austin giving Troy a hand, they we pretty close to having full-blown boners. Both hurried off separately to the restroom facilities off the home locker room as soon as they could do so without attracting a lot of attention. They'd barely gotten the door latched on the large handicapped accessible stall at the far end before their singlets were around their ankles. Then they kissed hungrily while touching everywhere. Troy soon fell to his knees, engulfing Austin's cock, now steely-hard and fully erect. He hadn't worked it over very long before Austin warned him of the impending deluge. Troy kept Austin in his mouth until his jacking efforts brought him to his second orgasm of the evening. He couldn't believe how much he produced in light of his earlier activities. They quickly kissed and hugged in the warm feeling that followed. "What the fuck is going on in there! Open this door!" "Uh, nothing, Dad; I'll be out in a minute," Troy answered shakily. "I know you're not alone!" "Austin was helping me with my singlet." "Bullshit! I heard the sounds and saw under the door when you blew your load." "Calm down, Dad, or I'm not coming out." Brad Bentley responded by kicking in the door, just as Tark came into the room. "Take it easy, man, that's school property you're destroying." Tark admonished as he pulled out his phone to contact security. "Go fuck yourself! I'm taking care of family business here, so fuck off!" "Do you want to settle down or would you rather face the police?" Instead of answering, Brad took a swing at Tark. It turned out to be a big mistake as he realized the minute he hit the hard tile floor with Tark firmly in control. "Austin, please pick up my phone; punch "3" and tell Officer Quinn that I could use his assistance." "Yes, sir!" When Sgt. Dominic Quinn arrived, Tark released Brad Bentley and stepped back quickly in case there was fight left in the man. Quinn spoke calmly to Brad, but it didn't seem to having the desired effect. There was fight left in him and he unwisely directed his anger toward the policeman. Again, he found himself on the floor, only this time his wrists were secured with handcuffs. Sgt. Quinn read him his rights as he explained the charges against him which included destruction of public property and assault of school personnel and an officer of the law. The restraints that kept him from taking a swing at anyone else didn't bridle his tongue, however. "This fucking pervert was having sex with my son! I want HIM arrested!" "There is no law against boys of the same age engaging in intimate play, if that's indeed what they were doing. However, there are laws against what you were doing. Now come along quietly before you get into deeper trouble." Allyson Bentley was shocked at the sight of her husband being led out of the gym in handcuffs. She made her way over to intervene. Brad immediately began a tirade about how parents had no rights in disciplining their wayward children while gay boys were allowed to do whatever they wanted. Troy's shoulders slumped as his father began to proclaim publically what had been done in private. Not much of it was overheard by anyone because Sgt. Quinn and Tark hurried the group outside the nearest exit, as Quinn again admonished Brad about holding his tongue. Lee and Peter came out to relieve Tark, who was needed inside, and they got to witness another scene. Troy's mother was furious at the policeman, but soon turned her wrath on her son. "How long has this been going on? How long has Austin been turning you gay?" "He hasn't been," Troy said as he pulled himself up to his full 5'7" height. "I was gay long before we became friends or did anything." "You admit you're having sex with him? You're disgusting! Get out of my sight! I don't want you in my house ever again! I have Gregg to think about. I can't have you turning him gay too." "Mom, Gregg is straight. Just ask him what he's been doing with Sara." "Don't try to change the subject. This isn't about him. If he and Sara are doing a little heavy petting, at least it's NORMAL! You'd better hope your little playmate wants to keep you because you're out of my house as of right now!" "Ma'am, you can't throw your son out on the street in the middle of winter!" Sgt. Quinn said. "Try and stop me!" Lee and Peter exchanged glances and shrugged. "We'll give Troy a place to live for the time being," Lee said. "As you know, we're licensed to do so." "Thanks, Lee. That takes part of the load off my shoulders," Sgt. Quinn smiled sadly. "I'll sleep better knowing an innocent kid isn't freezing!" "Innocent, my ass! He's a fag!" Allyson screamed. "Lady, if you don't stop this public ruckus, I'll run you in as soon as my backup arrives!" Sgt. Quinn threatened. At least Troy's mother had the good sense to know when to shut up. She stormed off to her car, after wishing her son a sarcastic "lots o' luck." Peter and Lee hustled the two teens back inside the warm gym lest they add to their misery by getting chilled and catching a cold. Troy was beside himself although he tried to hide it. He'd been worried about how things would go when his parents figured out his orientation, but he'd tried not to think about it. Now he had no choice. But perhaps the worst part of it was over. Living in fear had been miserable. What his life would be like from now on was still in question, but at least he wouldn't have to hide his true nature. Before the meet was over, Lee had received a text message back from Lucille Peshel, the social worker who'd helped with Jared. She had okayed Troy's placement with them until a permanent solution could be worked out, be that reconciliation with his parents or a home with another family. Troy's coach wasn't happy that Troy wasn't going back on the team bus, but didn't object when Lee showed him the text. The coach was curious about the rift between Troy and his parents, but Lee said he couldn't give any details. Again, the coach didn't push the issue. After Lee talked with Austin's parents, Bob and Jennifer agreed to allow their son to stay overnight with Troy at Lee and Peter's house. They said they would gladly take Troy in to live with them if they could legally do so. Lee gave them Lucille's contact information to make it easy for them to get in touch. Bob said they'd take both boys to their house to get extra clothes and drop them off after they'd eaten. Peter told them it wasn't necessary to feed the boys because they would probably enjoy eating with Jared and Bobby. He was planning a good-sized snack for the hungry teens. ---------- The talk around the kitchen table started with a recounting of how the Cougars had dominated the meet. Three of the boys were excited about that at least. But soon the guys became more sensitive to Troy's feelings. "Sorry, Dude," Jared said. "We weren't trying to rub it in about beating you guys. You've always been strong opponents and we're lucky to have stolen Austin from your team." "You didn't steal me; we had to move!" Austin protested. "Okay we didn't steal you," Jared admitted, "But we're really glad to have you. I wish we could have you too Troy. You're one tough kid!" "You might be having me next year. Didn't you hear what's happened? Aren't you curious as to why I'm here?" "I figured Austin wanted to give you a consolation prize for beating you," Bobby grinned. "They've kicked me out!" Troy murmured. "Who?" "My parents." "Why would they do that?" Jared asked in surprise. "My dad caught us messing around in the bathroom." "Shit! Didn't you guys hide in that big stall by the locker room?" "Yeah, he heard us and looked under the door." "Oops!" Jared exclaimed. "That's usually a pretty safe place because the general public uses the closer facilities." "He evidently followed me. He must have suspected something since we've been together several times this summer and we both were sprouting wood on the mat." "Yeah, it's hard not to!" Jared grinned. "Last year I had to fuckin' jack off before every practice just to keep `little Jared' under control." Lee and Peter had been standing at the counter, but not entering into the conversation. The boys had essentially forgotten about their presence and blushed a bit when they realized how candidly they'd talked. "Dad and Pop, sorry about the language," Jared said quietly, as the others nodded. "It's okay; words slip out sometimes," Lee smiled. "You're not in the dog house. Now I suggest you guys check to see if there are clean sheets on the double bed in Tommy and Tanner's old room because I'm guessing Austin and Troy aren't going to want to sleep separately tonight." "Fer sure!" Austin grinned. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Author's notes: Thanks to the following who emailed this past week: T&T81: Paul F, Roger L, Bill T, Walt S, Vern U, Ott H, Bill K, Rutabaga, Wayne, Jim C, Tom A, Cody W, Trish R, Paul R, Jim W, and Paul F.
