Whisked Away Chapter 2
Should life
be this stressful for a fifteen year old boy? No, it shouldn't be but Davis was
stressed out anyways. The new `Beast Trappers Frontiers' game would release
that day and he and Maron were determined to at least reach something around
Trapper Rank 50 even if that meant staying awake the whole weekend and going to
school with the biggest eye bags. "Oh come on! Where is my damn Xbox
controller?!" Davis had looked everywhere. All drawers in his now messy room
were pulled out, every door open. Clothes draped over every imaginable edge
just to get them out of the way. Throwing stuff into the laundry basket to get
a better overview was of course out of question. Without his knowledge his
little brother had borrowed the controller when a friend came over and just put
it onto the massive pile of clothes next to Davis's desk. Since then even more
clothes had piled up.
"Fuck!" Davis
threw his shampoo bottle towards the wardrobe hitting one of the lower drawers
which in turn made the pile tumble over twice. The unmistakable "clank" of
plastic hitting wooden floorboards rang through the room, making Davis whip his
head around. "For fucks sake! When I get my hands on Mikey I'm gonna kill him..." It was obvious to him that this was his
little brother's doing because underneath the TV was a special edition `Beast
Trappers IV' Playstation 4 Pro. Only his best friend Maron and little brother
played on Xbox. That was the reason he still had an Xbox Controller.
After the cap
was put back on the shampoo and both items stored safely in the messenger bag
used for school and sleepovers Davis rushed out, skipping one stair at the
time, even jumping down the last five stairs. While getting ready to put on his
shoes Davis mumbled and hoped that Maron was still waiting in line at the GamesShop to purchase the game. Maybe this would help him
out not being considered late and lazy again by his best friend. Davis grabbed
his keyring to unlock the shed in the backyard and ultimately lock his bike
chain. When everything was locked up again the boy swung up on his bike, the
wind breezing in his face as he drove down the pavement. It was a rather quiet
neighborhood he lived in. Neat and tidy front lawns with a few spaces lined
with colorful flowers and bushes. All in all his bike ride was supposed to only
take ten minutes.
Some cosmic
entity found it funny to further mess with his life, he thought. At an
important intersection that would've taken to the bridge leading across the
cities river an accident occurred making firefighters block off the whole
intersection. This forced him to take a right turn making the ride take a whole
lot longer. To Davis it felt like every person was out and about this time of the
day, hindering him even further from just going down a pedestrian way. Groaning
he continued riding moving away from the bridge and the intersection. "I only
want to play this damn game and spend some more quality time with my best
friend" were his thoughts, enjoying the after-school weekend sunshine despite
all the troubles thrown his way.
Finally Davis
was able to take a left turn back to his intended destination. Unfortunately it
was almost a small back alley. Everything was a bit darker, some trash and
wrapping papers were laying around. Further down the alley a rat was rolling an
empty drinking can with its nose making noises ringing all the way down.
Suddenly,
only half a meter in front of his wheels, a purple swirling mass appeared. It
looked like water flowing upwards, a little bit bigger than himself on his bike
seat. A second after taking it all in Davis found himself enveloped in it, a
cold pressure weighing down on his body. The air was pulled from his lungs and
a bright blue light shone from ahead forcing him to close his eyes. Despite all
those sensations his hands gripped the handle bar even harder than before. It
was the only thing Davis could do. Everything else was of no use. The hydraulic
brake and the back kick brake weren't working, pedaling forward wasn't working
either.
Before he
could try anything else the smell of old books collecting dust filled his
nostrils. For a moment he could also smell sweet flowers. When Davis opened his
eyes he saw the front wheel crash into a rather sturdy bookshelf going from
floor to ceiling. His mind couldn't even comprehend what was happening before
his body felt like football tryouts all over again. Back then Davis wasn't able
to dodge the defender and every bone was hurting for the next two days. How
long it would take the horrible headache to fade away this time?
How did you like your introduction to your protagonist
Davis? I know it was a bit shorter but there is much more to come! Also this
story will be one of those slow burners. My mantra is always story over
smut. But don't worry! Soon Davis will wake up in a strange new world and meet
lots of cute boys and learn new things. Stay tuned ;)
