There is also some "piss play" in it, especially toward the end. There are five main characters in this story: -Kyle and Daniel, adult brothers -Caleb (9 years old), Kyle's son -Jesse and Nathan ("Nate") (both 11 years old), Daniel's twin boys The various chapters are from their various points of view, as indicated in each subtitle. The chapters tend to grow longer as the story goes on. I'll post the shorter ones together sometimes. Chapter 10: Kyle I was scared to death. My brother, Daniel, and my nephew, his son, Jesse, were missing ... At least they hadn't come home that night from their hike. I and the boys, my son, Caleb, and his cousin, Nate, had had an enjoyable afternoon and evening together, ordering out for dinner (Chinese food) and playing some games together on the Switch (Mario Party--I kept winning!). But as the sunset came and went, and especially afterward as it got darker and darker, I started to really worry. I went into full panic, almost, when I heard thunder and we saw lightning flashing outside. A storm had rolled in! I had quickly checked the weather app on my phone and searched for Ignacio Falls. I saw on the radar that the storm that was hitting us now had hit them a couple hours earlier. That meant they had probably been out in the thick of it ... I suddenly felt sure that they must have drowned. "Where were your brother and nephew last seen?" the 911 dispatcher asked. "They were last seen here, this afternoon at about ... 1pm, I think," I said. I was pacing around the kitchen, my phone at my ear. Caleb and Nate sat at the counter with concerned looks on their faces. "But they were going to Ignacio Falls, to hike. They were supposed to be back here before sunset sometime. I haven't gotten any texts or calls or anything from them. I think they got caught in the storm." "Okay, thank you sir," the person on the other line said. "I'll call the Search and Rescue team and we'll see about getting them to the hike to look for your brother and nephew. We can call you back as soon as we have any updates." "Thank you," I said, dropping the call. I stopped pacing and turned toward my son and nephew. "They say they're going to send someone out there." "I bet they're fine," Nate said. "Dad and Jesse are pretty tough, you know. They'll be good." "I sure hope so," I said. "They're probably just waiting out the storm is all," Nate added. "They're smart enough not to go out and try to get back here while there's tons of lightning and rain." I wanted to believe him, that they were just holed up somewhere along the trail waiting things out. And I guess it was easy to understand why Daniel wasn't texting or calling: he probably didn't have reception up there. But if ... something did happen to them ... ? I don't know if I could take it, both of the men in my life, he and Dad, passing within weeks of each other? And Daniel and I had just re-connected, and things were all going so well between us ... I was starting to feel less and less doubt about pursuing some kind of sexual and perhaps romantic relationship with him, effectively rekindling what had been before when we were kids. I ... found myself increasingly wanting to just let myself go and dive into whatever was developing between us. The kisses were all really nice, really nice, but I felt like we might be ready or almost ready to ... take the next step. But then--this! I felt like maybe the universe was out to get us. Maybe it was mad at us because it was "wrong" for us to want each other like we did? Maybe it disliked the fact that I also had feelings for my own minor son? I guess it's probable, though, that this was just a fluke ... And, of course, it's also possible that Nate knew his dad well enough to know that he and Nate's brother would be okay ... So many questions, unanswered! "Are you going to be okay, Dad?" Caleb asked. I noticed that lately he had started calling me "Dad" instead of "Daddy." It was probably because that's what his cousins called their dad. Seemed appropriate for his age and development, but I did find myself missing him calling me the former name. It had felt so much more ... intimate. And it just sounded really cute, when he said it. Oh well! Anyway, he was looking up at me from where he sat at the counter next to Nate, his eyes looking overcast with care--care for his uncle, cousin and possibly most of all at this moment, care for me. I about melted seeing him staring at me like that. He was such a sweet, kind boy. "Yeah, I'll be okay," I said. "I'll be staying up late tonight, most likely, waiting for them to call me back. Hopefully it won't be long." "I can stay up with you," Caleb said. "Me too," Nate said, smiling at his cousin and then over at me. "We can watch a movie or play some games or something." "That's an idea ..." I said, thinking things over. "Okay, if you two are really okay with that. No need to stay up though if you're feeling really tired." "It's all good," Nate said. "We'll be fine." So, with that we began to play some games. We played some Texas Hold 'Em, taught to us by Nate who said that he "played it all the time." Caleb kept losing, unfortunately, but he was a good sport about it so there was no need to feel bad for him. Then we played some Exploding Kittens, Uno, and then a round of Monopoly Deal. As we played all these games over the course of maybe 3 hours, we talked and snacked. I admit that I was having a good time, but I couldn't get Daniel and Jesse out of my mind though, at least not for long. I kept checking my phone to make sure I wasn't missing any calls. Nope. Nothing, all this time! What was taking the Search and Rescue people so long anyway? We all started yawning, clearly beginning to grow too sleepy to continue to play these games. I suggested we watch something on TV, or maybe a movie. They agreed. Nate, however, made a suggestion of his own: "How about we watch all watch TV in Dad's room together, in that big bed of his? There's plenty of room for all three of us, and there's the nice TV on the wall above his dresser. He won't mind. It's super comfy, too." He didn't know, of course, that I knew just how comfy it was. Daniel and I had been sharing his bed since that night we went out to Miriam's on the beach. We would say goodnight to the kids and then I'd sneak up to his bedroom and slip in under the covers. We would cuddle up next to each other and share some kisses, before we'd get drowsy and would go to sleep. I was really enjoying those times together. "Sure, we can do that," I said, feeling like this was all innocent enough, though a part of me was really excited to spend time in bed with Caleb in particular ... Despite what I was beginning to have again with my brother, my heart was still very much with my son. He was looking more and more cute these days, hot, in fact, at times. We all went upstairs and changed into our PJs, then climbed up in Daniel's bed, the three of us with our backs against the pillows and half our bodies covered with sheets and/or blankets. Caleb sat next to me while his cousin was next to him on the other side. I noticed that they were holding hands. Perhaps they didn't realize I caught that ... ? Or they felt comfortable or tired enough not to try to hide it? I felt some unmistakable signs of jealousy in myself, toward Nate for apparently stealing my love's heart from me. But this was all for the best, I suppose! We watched some Frasier, a couple episodes, and as we finished the second one I looked over and saw that Nate had fallen asleep. His eyes were closed and his mouth half-open. He was out! Caleb, though, remarkably, was still pretty awake, I turned toward him and said, "Hey ... want to go get something to eat? Might help us stay awake. We can leave him in here." He nodded, so we carefully got up out of bed and made our way to the kitchen. There, I pulled some minty ice cream out of the freezer and started scooping some out in two bowls for us. He sat at the kitchen counter. "Thank you for staying up with me tonight, Caleb," I said, handing him a bowl. I went and sat next to him at the counter and we both started to eat. "No problem, Daddy," he said, appearing to have reverted back to calling me that. "I really hope they find them and they're alright." "I'm sure they are," I lied, hoping that I'd fool myself as well. "Anyway ..." I decided just then to broach a subject with him I had been wanting to discuss with him, though I felt nervous about how he'd reply. I said, "Hey, so I can see that you and your cousin--Nate, I mean--are getting pretty close these days ..." He blushed and averted his eyes. He took another spoonful of ice cream before he said anything. "Yeah, we're for sure getting pretty close," he affirmed. "He's cool." "Are you guys ..." (I wondered how to put this!) "... going out? You know, are you guys `into' each other ... ?" If he had been red before, he was so much more red now. He was smiling practically from ear to ear as he answered, saying, "Um, I don't know if we're `going out,' but ..." (he turned toward me and looked into my eyes, seeming serious all of a sudden) "... yeah, we're into each other. He's cute. We like each other, a lot." It was confirmed! I felt some weird feelings inside of me then, I must say. There was a feeling of ... well, pride, because I was proud of him for attracting such a handsome young man. There was also a bit of that ole jealousy rearing its head, for sure. I wished, then, that I were his cousin and that it was me he was talking about here. He seemed to sense that something was wrong. He asked, "Is that ok, Daddy? I know we're cousins but we really like each other ..." "Have you guys, um, kissed or anything like that?" I asked, feeling afraid of the answer. "Um, yeah, we have ... a lot, actually," he said, blushing again as he had before. "We, um, have also touched each other, down there, naked." He moved his eyes downward for a second. "Oh, okay," I said. I had suspected they had been kissing and probably making out (as Daniel had inferred from catching them out on the patio), but that they were touching while naked ... that was kind of a surprise to me. I hadn't known he would have ... gone there, I guess, so quickly. "Is that wrong, Daddy?" he asked. "Should we wait to do anything like that?" I sighed, trying to think all this through. I saw that we were done with the ice cream so I asked, "Hey, can we continue talking about this in the TV room, on the couch?" He nodded, so I led us into that room and we sat on the couch. Both of us were turned toward each other, and were close enough that our knees were almost touching. I was feeling all sorts of things in this moment, but in any case I somehow felt like he could handle what I was about to tell him. "So I think I can tell you this now," I began, "since it may provide some ... reassurance, I think. Anyway, Caleb, I and ... I and your uncle had a, uh, relationship when we were about your cousins' age. We used to kiss and touch each other, and I guess we did have sex in our own way. I, uh, felt like I loved him, and he loved me back." Caleb's eyes grew big in surprise, maybe even shock. His mouth dropped open part of the way. He said, "Whoa, Daddy ... Is that true?" "Yup, it is," I confirmed. "I ... think that the love we had was real, too." I looked up into his eyes and added, "I think you can love anyone, like that, no matter who they are, how old they are, young they are, whether they're blood related or not ... Love is the only thing that matters, when it's really there. So ... if you love him, Nate, then that's totally, completely fine with me." He smiled so sweetly then, and looked as if he might start crying. He said, "Thank you, Daddy ..." and reached out and rested his hand on my knee. He looked like he might say or do something, but then seemed to decide not to say or do it. He asked, "So ... are you and Uncle Daniel wanting to ... you know, get going again?" I was the one blushing now! I said, "Well, we have been reconnecting a lot, since we've been here. I have really enjoyed spending so much time with him. And yes, we have also begun to ... make some moves in that direction, toward ... becoming intimate together again. It's been ... interesting. All of that will have to be put on hold, of course, until you and I visit them again in a couple weeks ..." I felt pained inside, thinking about how we would be leaving San Michelle on Monday ... though we would be coming back in just two weeks, thankfully. And of course, there was that idea about moving here. I'd have to discuss it more with my son in coming days. "I'm glad you and Uncle Daniel are getting close again," Caleb said, caressing my knee. "You deserve someone like him who will treat you right. Mom's cool and all, enough, but Daniel seems like he's really special to you, and you are that way to him too." "Thank you, son," I said. He had another question: "If you guys were to, you know, be together ... what would that mean for us, for you and me and the twins? I know we're thinking about moving here ..." I laughed. "You're getting a little ahead of us here, kiddo." I stretched my arm out above his shoulders, and then rested my hand on his back very lightly. I began giving him an impromptu back scratch. "I was meaning to ask you more about that later, but what are your .. current thoughts about it?" "I would like it," he said. "I love it here in San Michelle, and I really like Nate and Jesse. Uncle Daniel, too, obviously." He chuckled. "Maybe we would then," I commented. Then I blinked a few times and added, "I'm getting way too sleepy, Caleb ... It's so late. I don't know how they would find them in the dark, at this time of night. I wish they had called with an update though, at least ... Anyway, how about we go to sleep and we'll see how things look in the morning?" He nodded his agreement with the plan and we went back upstairs. There, in Daniel's bedroom and on his bed, Nate was snoozing. Caleb and I got in next to him under the covers. "Well, goodnight, son," I said, as we turned into each other for hugs. After we pulled back, I leaned in and kissed his cheek. He smiled and said his own goodnight back. I turned away from him to reach the lamp and I flipped it off. A few moments passed and I was asleep. I was woken up several hours later, as my phone rang. I groggily reached for it and answered, "Hello?" "Is this Kyle Traylor?" came an old man's voice. "Yes," I said quickly. I could hear Caleb stirring behind me. "This is Jim with Search and Rescue," he said. "We found your brother and nephew." "Oh my god!" I exclaimed. "How are they?" "They're fine," Jim answered. "They took shelter by the waterfall last night. We caught them out on the trail heading back to the parking lot this morning. They said they'll be home soon."
