Chapter 24 Justin and Billy were quiet the next day. Billy was the first to wake up, since he didn't really sleep. He went out to the living room, watched TV and drank some coffee. His mind wouldn't stop thinking about the night before and the conversation with Justin. He didn't want to be in love with Justin, and he most certainly didn't want Justin to be in love with him; however, the fact that he was made him feel sick to his stomach with guilt and anxiety. Will was the next to get out of bed. He saw his son sulking on the couch deep in contemplation and decided to leave the young man to his thoughts. After pouring himself a cup of coffee, he kissed his son on the head and offered to be an ear if Billy needed one. Billy thanked him as Will left to go into his office. Justin had woken up when Billy got out of the bed. He continued to lay there thinking, as well. He loved Charlie. That was a fact for him, and nothing anybody said or did was ever going to change that. For Justin, asking him to love anyone else would've been like asking the Sun to be as bright as the Moon. He did care about Billy. He cared about his boyfriend a lot, but Justin didn't see a future with him as anything more than just friends. Justin's plans to join the Peace Corp after school was to earn enough money and experience, so he could come back and go to college with Charlie. He'd take care of them both with the money he earned. Once they graduated, they'd get a place somewhere in New England, maybe on Cape Cod, where they could get married and wouldn't be looked at for their age difference. Justin often fantasized about sitting on deck chairs overlooking the Atlantic, holding Charlie on his lap as the sun rose over the horizon. He had little doubt about his plans. Charlie already said that he loved him, and Justin believed it was genuine. Justin knew he had feelings for Charlie on the boy's 10th birthday, when Charlie hugged him extra tight for the games Justin gave him. There was more to that hug than there had been in the previous few they exchanged, which then confirmed Justin's suspicions that Charlie, like his brothers, was into boys. Unlike Billy and Ry, Justin saw a maturity about the pudgy boy that the often flamboyantly child-like Billy rarely mustered, and Charlie had an authentic sweetness that the snarky and rude Ry never showed. Charlie was everything his older brothers should be, and everything Justin wanted in a husband. If he was honest with himself, Justin only stayed with Billy, so he could be around Charlie more. Justin subtly insisted that Charlie tagged along, so he could see it as his and Charlie's date, which Billy had to chaperone. Justin didn't care if Billy was happy with it. It wasn't about Billy anyway. Justin thought he blew his act with the State Fair. It was he who let it slip to Charlie, knowing that the boy had never been. When Charlie asked if he could go, Justin was all for it, but it was Billy who needed to be convinced. Knowing how Billy would feel, Justin told Charlie to ask his dad for permission first. Charlie then let it slip that it was Justin's idea, which put Justin in the position to calm Billy down. Since Justin knew how much of a whore Billy was, Justin promised sex if Billy gave in, and he wasn't surprised when Billy relented. The park-n-fuck along the side of the road was all for Justin, though. He loved taking risks when it came to sex, and doing it out in the open, and with Charlie in the back seat, was the hottest experience of his life. Justin pretended that Billy was Charlie and secretly hoped that Charlie would wake up from the car shaking and watch the two of them. Justin fantasized about Charlie waking up, pulling down his shorts and briefs, and then touching himself, while watching Justin fuck the hell out of his brother. The mental image of Charlie getting out of the car, stripping his clothes off, climbing on the car and putting his tiny pecker in Justin's mouth sent the teen over the edge. Justin threw the blankets back and jerked his cock to the fantasy that formed in his mind. He saw Charlie grab him by the back of the head and fucking his mouth. Justin then saw Billy sitting up and rimming his baby brother's sweet, plump ass, while Justin fucked the shit out of him. Justin blew his load all over his chest, as he imagined he and Billy double penetrating Charlie's tight, pink, virgin hole. Justin looked at the clock and got out of bed. Unable to find something to clean himself up with, Justin ate his own cum, thinking how great Charlie's would taste once he hit puberty. After showering and eating breakfast, Billy and Justin made their way to a local cafe for their student union meeting. The top members of the union were already there, so Justin sat in the back and let everyone else take charge. He only attended the meetings because Billy was very involved. His boyfriend helped Michael set up posters, while going over the meeting bullet points. Billy wanted more responsibility and an actual position within the union, but so far, nobody was willing to give him one. The white seniors kept the prominent posts for themselves, while giving the smaller positions to the racial minorities and trans underclassmen. Justin tried talking to Billy about how non-inclusive the student union really was, but Billy refused to accept it, claiming that Justin didn't know them like he did. "Hey," Trevor said, as he walked up to the tables. "Trevor," Michael said. They walked away from Billy, who was in mid-sentence, and shook Trevor's hand, which Trevor returned with indifference. "I'm so glad you could make it." Trevor nodded his response and took a seat next to Justin. Almost everyone else was late. Given it was a Saturday with unseasonably warm weather and clear skies, most of the student body considered skipping the meeting. Billy took a seat behind Michael and took notes, despite Sarah Clark being the Secretary. Justin, meanwhile, spent the meeting texting Charlie. "Thanks for coming, everyone," Michael said, standing to fully address the small crowd. "We have a lot to go over, given this is our first full meeting of the school year!" Michael had an itinerary passed around. Trevor took his and gave it a quick glance, while Justin put his copy on his lap without looking at it. Michael took their role as President seriously. They gave a speech about how important the student union was to the school and to the little LGBTQIA+ Community there. It was a speech Justin had heard a lot, having first joined the union in junior high. It was meant for the underclassmen, especially the freshmen. Justin looked around and saw that Trevor was just as unimpressed as he was. "Okay," Michael said, taking their seat. "First order of business is fundraising for the Queer Ball." Trevor blurted out, "What's the Queer Ball?" Everyone looked at him. It was against union rules to ask questions out of order. Normally, this would get a warning issued to the violator, with three warnings being removal from the meeting; however, Michael ignored the slight, and said, "the Queer Ball is a dance held in late January. It's our version of the prom but for those in the Community, including allies. We coordinate with the other five high schools and the community college, the latter of which hosts in their gym." "Odd. I never heard of it," Trevor said. "I'm not surprised," Michael said. "I am. I know my old student union reached out to this body and every other student union across the state but got no replies. We wanted to do something very similar, but nobody seemed interested." "Huh," Michael said, looking uncomfortable. "That may have been in my predecessor's time. I only got this post at the end of last year." "Maybe, then," Trevor relented. "Okay," Michael said, taking back control of the meeting. "Let's talk fundraising." The meeting went on in this vein for an hour. Every time Michael would bring up a topic, Trevor would ask questions until he got the answer he wanted, which usually left Michael feeling uncomfortable and out of sorts. Billy took his notes, oblivious to what was really going on; however, Justin picked up on it immediately. Michael pulled their hair back into a ponytail and said in a lightly frazzled voice, "Okay. Old business is out of the way." They took a calming breath and tried to avoid eye contact with Trevor, then asked, "Is there any new business?" Trevor finally raised his hand. Annoyed but determined to end the meeting quickly, Michael asked. "Yes, Trevor?" "What is the student union's stance on bullying?" Trevor asked with a neutral expression. "We're against it, obviously," Michael responded with a slightly scandalized chuckle. "So, what are the union's plans to combat bullying of LGBTQIA+ students on and off campus?" Michael looked confused then looked to their fellow council members, who shared the same baffled expression. Michael looked at Trevor and said, "We're unaware that there's any bullying going on at the school." Trevor, unbothered by the group's perplexities, said, "The other day, I was in the locker room when Dan Stewart was shoved into a locker and called a faggot." Several students looked shocked and frightened. Michael looked offended. "Please don't use the F-word here. This is a safe place where hate speech isn't welcomed." Still unbothered, Trevor continued, "You said you weren't aware of any bullying, so I provided you with just one of many I've encountered since transferring here. So, I ask again: What are the union's plans to combat bullying of LGBTQIA+ students on and off campus?" "I didn't know Dan Steward was gay," Michael said, their anger nearing the surface. "I'm not sure he is." "Then that's not our concern," Michael said flatly, as if it were the end of the conversation. "But it is," Trevor countered. "Because a student isn't part of the student union or even in the Community, doesn't mean that it's okay to subject them to bullying for any reason; in fact, most of the bullying happens to students left out of such organizations, which makes them easy targets. The fact that hate speech was used so openly proves this body's indifference to those who are in need of outreach." "And what do you expect us to do about it?" Michael snapped. "How about using your position and platform to raise awareness and advocate for those who are suffering at this school? How about standing up to bullies when you see someone being attacked? How about supporting those who report the abuses they've suffered as opposed to turning a blind eye?" "That's easy for you to say," Michael said. "You have the Black Student Union to help you out, and nobody wants to be seen as a racist these days. You don't know anything about being a member of the Community." For the first time, Trevor's expression changed, and he merely laughed. Everyone looked at him with a mixture of contempt and shock. Trevor then said, "Aside from my gay uncles, one of whom is Latino, and oh yeah, myself being an openly gay jock in my old school. I guess the only disparagement I can ever face is that of the color of my skin. That's a great observation, by the way. Mighty white of you to notice." Michael's face turned pink in anger and humiliation. Trevor pointed out a chink in the queer student's armor: white privilege. He knew that Michael, like almost every other white person in America, would only see him as black and could never see him as anything else. However, Trevor used that color blindness to his advantage by pointing out the student union's vast hypocrisies, especially that of inclusion. Trevor continued, "I've sat here listening to your proposals, and there's nothing that says Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Queer, Trans, Intersex or A-sexual. Your Queer Ball is just an exclusive, winter social That doesn't do anything substantial, except prop yourselves up." Sarah finally spoke and said, "And what have you done besides bitching about us?" "Well," Trevor said, " At my last school, a straight friend and I organized a Gay/Straight alliance and started a highly effective anti-bullying campaign. We also did community outreach by volunteering at homeless shelters, soup kitchens, nursing homes, daycare facilities, held rallies to support animal shelters, women's reproductive rights, stood against racists, and created an actual safe place on school grounds for all students who needed social and mental health support. Oh," he said, looking at the all white council, as if having an afterthought, "and I was the second black student union President and the first as a freshman, since the color of my skin didn't play a role in my election, since it was my vision and motivation that won." Justin looked impressed and pleased. Trevor managed to own every single one of the snooty council members without coming off as a dick. He looked at Billy. His boyfriend's jaw hung open. Billy heard from Steve that Trevor was a force at their high school, but Steve didn't mention half of the things Trevor accomplished, and all in one year. Billy thought that Trevor was some kind aloof soul. Someone who just went through life without making waves. The Trevor in the meeting was direct, headstrong and the complete opposite of his outwardly, easy going demeanor. "I think we're out of time," Michael said, without looking at their phone. "We'll pick up where we've left off on Wednesday at lunch." They gathered their things and left the building without stopping. The rest of the council left shortly after; however, most of the other students stayed to ask Trevor a million questions. Billy put his notepad away and got in line. Trevor took all the questions stoically. He was patient with everyone, taking his time to make sure they understood his position on bullying and what the student union should be doing. Billy made sure he was the last person Trevor talked to. "Wow," he said, "Steve really underplayed your involvement at your old school." "That's Steve for you," Trevor said, grabbing his backpack. "Do you want to get coffee sometime?" Billy asked without thinking. "Sure," Trevor said, "as long as your boyfriend doesn't mind." "Boyfriend?" Billy asked, confused. "Yeah," Trevor said, and pointed to Justin who was by the door and still on his phone. "That's him, right?" "Oh, yeah." Billy was so lost in the moment, he forgot that Justin even came. "He won't care. It's not like we're serious or anything." Billy hoped he said it with enough conviction to hide the pain he felt inside. "Cool," Trevor said. They arranged for the next weekend and Billy followed Trevor to the door. "Ready?" Justin asked, sending his final text to Charlie. "Huh?" Billy said, shaking himself out of his thoughts. "Are you alright?" Justin asked. "Yeah. Didn't sleep well." "Sorry," Justin said. Billy pulled Justin into his arms and held him. Justin wrapped his arms around his boyfriend. They stood there until an elderly woman wanted to get past them. The pair got into Justin's car and headed back to Will's. Justin pulled into the driveway, and stopped Billy as he was about to get out. "I want to say that I do love you," Justin said, taking Billy by the hand. "I thought about it a lot, and I'm sorry for everything I said last night. I didn't realize how I honestly felt until I thought I lost you--" "--You haven't lost me--" "--Please, Billy. I need to say this. I thought I lost you last night when you left the room. I ran everything in my head trying to figure it out, and the only thing that kept coming back was how much I missed you, wanted you in my arms and how much I love you, like genuinely love you. Can you ever forgive me?" Billy teared up, leaned in and kissed his boyfriend. "Yes, I forgive you, and I love you, too." Justin leaned in and they kissed for quite a while before Billy left the car. Justin said he needed to get gas and would be back for the night. Once Billy was out of sight, Justin opened his phone and sent Charlie another text. "Things are good between Billy and I again. You haven't lost me. I love you so much." A few seconds later, Justin received a text back. "Good. I love you, too." ***Coming Soon, Chapter 25***
