Chapter 20 Ry woke Charlie up with a tender kiss on the lips then smiled. "Morning, sleepy head." Charlie stretched and smiled in return, very aware that he was fully exposed with his morning wood sticking straight up. "Morning, Handsome." They both looked over at Joey, who was still passed out and hogging the blankets. Charlie leaned over and gently kissed Joey on the cheek. "Are we going to leave him here?" "Yeah. I want to do this on our own. Mom is staying with Bethany, so it'll be just you and me." "I really don't want to go," Charlie said, looking sullen. "With Mom knowing about me--about us--it feels wrong to leave now." Ry lifted Charlie's chin and kissed him. "I'm not going anywhere. We've waited this long, so there's no harm waiting another couple of months." "I know," Charlie said, a tear rolling down his cheek. "I'm going to miss Bethany's first Christmas, your birthday...and I'm gonna miss you." Ry pulled Charlie into his arms and held him. "I'm going to miss you, too, but as soon as I can, I'll bring Bethany for a visit. Before you know it, you'll be home, and we'll be able to start our life together...provided you haven't found anyone else by then." "Bite your tongue," Charlie said, kissing Ry. Charlie wanted to tell Ry that he didn't want to ever be with anyone else, but he was worried that Joey might hear him and get his feelings hurt. Ry made sure that they were up before Ronda, so they could shower together. It was impossible to not fool around under the shower head. Their bodies rubbed against each other, soap made them extra slippery. They traded oral, as Charlie still wasn't comfortable trying anal. Ry attempted to swallow Charlie's huge load but was only able to down half of it, with the rest going down the drain. Charlie succeeded in deep throating Ry, which caused Ry to cum instantly directly down towards 14-year-old's stomach. They made their way back to the room without being seen. They quickly got dressed, and Ry made sure to leave a note for Joey to make sure he was fully dressed before heading down stairs, since Ronda worked from home. Ry drove them to the restaurant where he worked so they could get breakfast and spend a little more time together. It wasn't very busy, which Ry appreciated. Marcus came out and talked to Ry about the new guy, and wanted Ry to have a word with him. Ry was rather annoyed by it all, but he held his tongue. "You're going to be okay, you know," Ry said to a very worried looking Charlie. "I guess," the 14-year-old replied. They finished their food and left for the rehab center. They were both very quiet and nervous. Both were concerned that Charlie would screw up and get kicked out, though Ry was the only one who kept trying to have faith that it wouldn't happen. The building was rather nondescript. It had a wooden facade that was painted brown with a lot of trees. Ry got the impression it was like the day spas he had seen on TV. The interior was a soft, golden yellow, with arm chairs, indoor plants scattered throughout and was warmly lit. There was definitely a clinical vibe to the place, but it seemed that they were making an effort to minimize it. Ry and Charlie approached the receptionist, who was quiet and polite. "How may I help you?" "I'm checking in Charles Barton," Ry replied. He could feel his brother twitch, as Charlie never liked being called by his full name. "Okay," the receptionist said. She handed Ry a clipboard and added, "Please fill these out. Bring them back when you're done, and someone will be out here shortly." They took a seat away from the entrance to avoid giving Charlie the temptation to run. The forms were lengthy and asked all kinds of questions, such as Charlie's drug history, family life, and sexual history and activity. Ry wasn't sure why the sex questions were important, but he and Charlie answered them the best they could, while making sure to leave out their relationship, with Charlie purposefully neglecting to leave out certain encounters that he wasn't ready to talk about yet, if ever. The forms took a good 20 minutes to complete. Ry returned the documents, and handed over the relevant documentation for guardianship and insurance. It was another half-hour before a youngish man, maybe in his late 20s to early 30s came into the lobby. "Charles Barton?" the man asked. "Charlie," the boy clarified, as he and his brother stood up. "Sorry about that," he replied and shook their hands. "My name is Jason Estes and I'm a counselor here. Please come with me, and we can start your intake process." The three walked through a security door and turned down a hall lined with doors. Charlie was feeling scared. He never considered that he might be locked up like it was a jail, and it made him extremely nervous. Instinctively, he reached out and took hold of Ry's hand. Ry looked over and gave his boyfriend's hand a gentle squeeze of encouragement. Jason turned into an office at the far end of the hall. He motioned for the brothers to take a seat, before closing the door behind them. Like the rest of the building, Jason's office had a warm glow and was decorated in browns and light yellow. Jason took his seat behind the desk and did some typing on his computer. "Charlie, I see this isn't your first time in rehabilitation." "No Sir," Charlie confirmed. "What makes this time any different from the others?" Both Bartons were thrown for a loop by the earnestness of the question. "I don't know," Charlie replied. "Charlie has a lot riding on this," Ry said for his brother. "He's got a child and his future ahead of him." "I see," Jason said and did some typing. Ry didn't care for the man's tone. Jason then asked, "You do understand that once you're admitted, you cannot leave the facility for a minimum of 30 days?" "Yes Sir," Charlie replied. "If you do leave, your insurance won't cover the stay, and your guardian will be responsible for the debt since you're a minor." "I understand," Charlie said quietly. "What about phone calls and visits?" Ry asked. "Patients cannot have outside contact for the first 30 days, so they can adjust to the program and our rules. This applies to everyone without exception. Once that time is up, we'll evaluate Charlie's progress and decide privileges from there, including in phone calls, in house visits and home visits. "The total length of the program is individually tailored depending on the needs of the patient, with evaluations conducted every 30 days. The average length for juveniles is six months--" "--Six months!" Charlie exclaimed in shock. "Yes, Charlie, six months. Most of that is out of patient treatment and group sessions. Only the most serious addicts stay in-patient longer. We do have a 12 month cut-off, so if you haven't met your goals in a year, we'll discharge you as untreatable, which means you can never return here, regardless of your situation." "That seems rather extreme," Ry said. "We take this process very seriously, Mr. Barton. We have a high success rate, because we make every effort for those who want to succeed, so we have no time nor tolerance for those who aren't willing to work as hard as the staff." "That's fair," Charlie said. "I need to do this for my daughter and my family." "That's bullshit," Jason said, causing both Ry and Charlie to stare at him with wide eyes. "You need to do this for yourself. Getting sober for other people will only give you excuses later to relapse if they hurt you. By getting sober for yourself, you're putting the responsibilities solely on you and your shoulders; all the highs and all the lows are yours and yours alone. I know it seems harsh now, but eventually, it'll make sense." Charlie was feeling more and more uncertain with each passing second. He kept reminding himself of Bethany and Ry, the two people he loved more than anyone else. "Do you have any questions for me, Mr. Barton?" Jason asked Ry. "None right now," he replied. "Here's my card. If you have any questions or concerns, please leave me a message. For the first month, I'll email you a weekly progress report, so you'll be up-to-date with your brother's treatment. After the first evaluation, if Charlie has been approved for visits, I'll contact you to set up a meeting to discuss the guidelines." "Okay," Ry said. He took the hint, gave Charlie a hug and left before either of them started crying. Once Ry left, Jason said, "How about I show you around, so you can get settled in? Orientation will be after lunch." Ry broke down the second he got back to his car. He knew Charlie was going to be alright, but it didn't stop the anxiety he was experiencing. He wanted to go back in and pull Charlie out, but knew that would only make things worse. Charlie didn't need Ry enabling him, which he knew would allow Charlie to relapse. Once it happened the first time, it would just keep happening until Charlie was either in prison or dead. He remembered his childhood before his adoption and knew he couldn't allow that to ever happen again. Ry wiped away his tears and drove to work. ***Coming Soon, Chapter 21***
