Please, feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions about this work of fiction at incstwrtr007@gmail.com . I really enjoy hearing feedback from y'all and it insipires knowing that y'all are reading and enjoying this story!! This is a continuation of the "Jake and Dad" Series. To help understand the story, please go back and read from Chapter 1! It has come to my attention that maybe this story is "moving too slowly" for a few people and here are my remarks on that. This was never meant to be a quick story to get your rocks off to. This is a story about a father and son growing together and loving each other, it will not be all about sex. It was never meant to be. If you don't like this, feel free to read other stories on Nifty because there are plenty of them that are just about sex. With that being said, I will be publishing another story that is like that, quick to the chase, just sex. All I ask is that you be patient, not only with me but with the story as well. I don't want this to feel rushed, I want it to feel as real and natural as possible. That being said, sex is gonna happen in Chapter 7. Happy Reading Y'all! Jake and Dad - Chapter 6 We drove out of the neighborhood and towards the interstate, the streets of the small suburb much busier tonight than they were when Dad drove me home last night. I look at all the lights and sounds as we drive through the small town and turn onto the main interstate towards the City, the skyscrapers and Downtown glowing bright against the black inky sky. The engine roars as we take off down the on ramp and join the heavy traffic on the interstate, the tires of the old car howling against the concrete highway. "So, do you have any plans for what you want to do when we get there?" I ask, looking over at my dad, his head almost touching the ceiling of the classic muscle car, the soft green light of the gauges barely illumiating him as he sat behind the large steering wheel. "No, not really." He smiles and shrugs, letting his right hand fall from the steering wheel and rest on his thigh, just above his knee. He looks over at me for a second before looking ahead and changing lanes. "First stop is going to be somewhere to get you a jacket. I don't think mine is fitting you very well." I roll my eyes a bit and smile as I look down, the large coat folding over me, almost like a blanket over my body as I sit in the bucket seat. "Any place you want to stop at?" I look over at him a for a second, studying the shadows on his face from the gauge lights. "Because I don't have a clue where we're going." He thinks this over for a second and I can almost see the gears spinning in his head as he thinks before looking over at me, slowly looking me up a down, causing me to raise an eyebrow at him. "I know just the place to stop at but you can't say anything. This can be your 'Welcome home present.'" He gives me a wink before sliding his hand over my thigh, giving it a small squeeze. I look down at his hand on my thigh and smile in the dark car, the only light on my side coming from the yellow street lights that we quickly pass under. We travel on for a moment or two before he slowly slides his hand up my thigh a few inches and then back over to his. "We can get something to eat while we're out, too. No pizza tonight though. This is a special night so we'll go somewhere nice." I smile at the thought and can even feel myself blushing a little bit in the dark car, glad that my dad could't see. I was really getting to like it here already, something that surprised me a little bit. When Mom told me that she wanted me to move up here because she thought it would be good for me, I hated the idea. I don't like the cold, I'm gonna have to leave all of my friends I've had since first grade and make all new ones, and I didn't even know my dad. He left when I was 5 and never heard from him again. She said that it would be good for me to "have a fatherly influence during my teenaged years" because, according to her, these years were all about transitioning into "manhood" and I needed a strong male role-model during this time. Moms right? I think she was just a little tired of having to worry about taking care of me and her at the same time. Maybe me moving and being gone would be a good thing for us both. I look down at my lap and smile a little, locking my fingers together and twiddling my thumbs together as I feel the strong engine rumbling the seat a little bit. "What are you thinking about over there, buddy?" I hear my dad ask as I look down at my lap. It was probably a little funny that I had been quiet for the past few minutes. "Just that I'm glad to be up here with you." I tell him truthfully, looking over at him and smiling. I can see him smiling as he keeps his eyes on the road. "I'm glad that you're here too, son." He reaches over and grabs my shoulder again, his big strong hand resting firmly but lovingly on it as his thumb rubs across my upper arm. I look through the windshield and over the long, flat hood as the light of the city get brighter and brighter as we race towards it down the highway. He lets his and rest on my shoulder for a while, longer than it did on my thigh, rubbing it softly through his heavy coat the whole time. He slowly slides it down my upper arm, to my elbow before letting it fall back to his muscular thigh. "I'll let you have some time off school, if you'd like. I havent registered you yet and I thought we could see a few different places to see which one you liked best." I smile at the thought, he being very considerate and I wondered if he was like this all the time. I really hoped he was, he always seemed to be in a good mood, really playful too. I couldn't help but to wonder why him and mom split up. I've only been here for a day but he already seemed like an amazing guy. I look over at his hand on his leg and let my left hand rest on top of his, hearing him holding his breath for a second. "I think that I would like that, dad." I look over at him, his maroon button down hugging his chest a bit and I catch myself staring for a moment. What was with me? I've never thought of myself as gay, I've had several little flings with girls at school, puppy love is what my mom called it. For one reason or another, just the other persons reasons, they never worked out. It didn't matter much to me anyway, I was 14 and a freshman in high school. Was I really worried about dating and finding someone to love? Not really but, there was just something about my dad that caught my eye. The way his shirts always hugged his round chest, the curve of his deltoids from his shoulders into his strong upper arms. I shake my head and chock it off to nerves. "That's really thoughtful of you, really." I nod and bit and smile slightly at him as his chest falls, letting his breathing out. "Well, I figured since you moved all the way up here, I would try to make the transition as smooth and easy as possible for you." He looks over at me for a second and smiles a bit as he looks into my eyes, his almost glowing from the pale green light of the Mustangs gauges, the same color as mine. "Let's worry about getting you a jacket first though, huh?" He turns back to the road and I let my hand rest back on my lap as we approach the city, taller and taller buildings starting to pop up as we first enter it. "This is where the city starts but I want to give you the full Chicago experience so we'll keep going until we hit Downtown. We can go to Millennium Park, the Willis Tower, anything you wanna do tonight." We drive through the city and I watch as all the tall buildings rise and fall as we go by. It was a strange but exciting sight for me, really. Sure, I had been to Dallas several times but it was nothing like this at all. I smile out of the window as I think of all the possibilities and everything there is to do here and before I know it, we're merging and getting off the highway. We come to a light and a sea of people pass in front of the car before the light turns green. We turn left and go down a small city street, tall building flanking us on either side, cars packed in the streets, lights flashing everywhere as people rush by, the growling exhaust of the car echoing off the buildings. I hear the noise of the turn signal and Dad parallel parks the car next to the sidewalk expertly before placing it in first gear and shutting it off, the car shaking a bit as the powerful engine dies. "Are you ready?" He asks as he turns to me. I look back at him and feel him take my hand in his, holding it tightly. "I've got you so don't worry about anything. I won't let anything bad happen to you. There's nothing to be scared of but lock your door." He smiles and winks as he unbuckle his seat belt and swings his door open. I do the same and lock the door before shutting it, hearing the mechanical latch catching the door shut. He walks around the front of the car and I join him on the sidewalk as we begin our journey, his large coat keeping me very warm. "I'm sure you'll like the place we're going too." He smiles as he breath fogs out in front of him with his words. I smile as well, looking up at the skyscrapers next to us, the sound of people talking filling me ears as the cold air brushes past us. We turn a corner and the sign of a big retail store hangs on the other corner. I smile at the red and while logo and chuckle a bit before looking up at him. "I've actually never been in one of these before." I tell him as we approach the store, large windows showing off various displays of clothes. He finds the door and holds it open to me and I thank him as we walk in the store. The vastness of it surprises me and I smile a bit as I see the mens section on the second floor. "I'll take it you like it then." I hear Dad say behind me as he places his hand on my shoulder and gently leads me towards the escalator to the second floor, which is just as big as the first. "You can pick out whatever you like, tonight will be a treat night for you." I step off the escalator and head towards the jackets. Immediately a black leather jacket catches my eye and I grab it, pull it off the hanger, and try it on. I look down at myself and smile, already knowing this is the one. I turn around and see my dad smiling at me, looking me up and down slowly before nodding. "I like it." He says and grabs his own coat from me, quickly pulling it on before putting his hand on my shoulder and pulling me towards him by my shoulder again. "Come on, let's go pay for it and then grab some dinner." We head back downstairs and pay for the jacket before heading back outside to the cold sidewalk. I put my hands in the pocket of the jacket, smiling as it keeps me warm. We walk down the sidewalk, taking our steps together as we walk. "How about some Italian?" He asks as he puts his arm around my shoulder and pulls me into him gently. I smile and can't help but to feel a little more relaxed by this gesture. "I know just the place around here, too." We walk for a few more minutes before we stop at a small restuarant, neatly nestled between two large buildings. I look up at me dad and he smiles at me before pulling the door open and motioning me to step inside. I do so and feel him step inside behind me, the smell of fresh bread invading my nose. There's not much of an entry way, just enough space for about 5 or 6 people to stand and a small podium. A hostess quickly comes around the corner and shows us to a small booth in the back of the restaurant. We thank her and take our seats, the booth being lit my a small, dim light overhead. "What do you think so far?" Dad asks as he looks over at me and shrugs his coat off, placing it in the booth next to him. I feel his foot tap against mine a bit as he does and he leaves it there. "It seems pretty nice so far." I smile and leave my foot there as well, just thinking he probably didn't notice. I look over the menu as our waiter takes our drink order and then returns to take our order. He takes our menu and dissappers, leaving just us together in the small but moderately busy restaurant. "We can go home after this, if you'd like." He tells me as he leans forward a little bit, crossing his fingers together. I meet his eyes and smile, wondering what he is thinking as I look into them. "I thought you wanted to give me the full Chicago experience, though." I say, giving him a wink as I shift a little in the booth, placing my hands on the table like his. I move my feet a little, taking his away from mine as I lean forward a bit. "Unless you're already ready to go home, old man." He pulls a fake surprise face and chuckles. "I think I can stand a few more hours of you." He smiles and sits back in his booth, his foot sliding next to mine again. I feel that it is a little more intentional this time but I don't think much of it. We keep talking and joking with each other while we wait for our food to arrive and end up scarfing it down once it does get there. The waiter brings us our check and Dad gives him a credit card to run it on. I lean back in my seat, pretty full from dinner and I smile as I see him lookng at me again. "What?" I ask, crossing my arms over my chest as I raise an eyebrow at him. "Nothing." He shrugs and puts his hands up a little bit. "I'm just glad that you're hear is all." The waiter brings the check back and Dad signs for it before standing up, pulling his coat on again. He steps to my side and offers his hand which I roll my eye at a bit before standing up and putting my leather jacket on. We head towards the door and step outside again, the city still busy as ever. "Come on, we've got several more sights to see and it's still early by Chicago standards." With that, he puts his arm around my shoulders again and leads me down the sidewalk. We see a few of the sights, burning a few hours well into the night. It's about midnight by the time we turn the last corner to the street the car is on. We head down the street and I feel his hand grab my waist and pull my close, a little closer than he had been pulling me all night. "I take it you had a good night?" He asks, rubbing his arm up and down my side a little bit as I yawn. "I had a great one." I look up at him and give a sleep half-smile as we make it to the car. He fishes into his pocket and grabs the keys, unlocking the door and pulling it open with his free hand. I climb in he shuts the door behind me. I lock it and pull the seatbelt on as he walks around and climbs in next to me. "I can't wait to get home and sleep, though." He looks over at me as I talk and smiles before slowly running his hand through my hair. "You can sleep all you want tonight, Jake." He says softly, letting his hand fall to my shoulder, looking at me and pausing for a moment before starting the car and pulling away. I make it to the interstate and watch the skyline dissappear into the rearview mirror. I lean back and shut my eyes, the steady sound of the engine lulling me to a light sleep, feeling my dad's strong hand back on my thigh again as I doze off.
