20 - Palm Springs Family - Apart Monday Steve

In a House East of LA

Steve and Corey

They lie together and start talking about what they want to do, but they decide the first order of business is lunch.

They decide to walk to a nearby restaurant that Corey says has great burgers and things. And the minute they get out the door, they fall into a very easy pattern with each other.

They're walking along just chatting, usually with Corey's hand on Steve's back or shoulder. Steve is kinda amazed at how comfortable everything feels with Corey.

They walk along and just chat about everything. Steve asks some questions about the houses they pass, never having been in a city with houses so close together as this one, which is really a suburb of LA. The houses aren't tiny, but they're certainly not huge, and very few of them have large yards.

They get to the restaurant and are seated immediately. Steve is the only one of our four who basically ever got to go to a sit down restaurant, so he's not totally unfamiliar with going in and ordering.

He takes the menu when it's offered and pretty quickly decides he'll have one of their lunch specials and iced tea. Corey just decides on the same.

Corey, having the same problem Michael has at the moment trying to figure out what to do... other than sex, asks Steve if he has anything he'd like to do... who of course says he doesn't know anything about LA.

Corey says, "One thing I thought about was taking you to Universal Studios... they have action rides with cartoon characters and stuff. We took Ken and Jared's boys about a month ago, not long after they got here. It's kinda a fun thing to do."

Steve thinks and then says, "That sounds like fun, but I think I'd feel guilty about going without all my brothers... Sorry."

Corey says, "If we were at home I'd kiss you."

Steve chuckles and asks, "What for?"

Corey laughs and says, "Because I love you. You're amazing. I almost didn't mention that because I thought it would unfair to the other boys to not take them," which causes Steve to reach over and pat Corey's hand that's lying on the table.

They sit and have a very nice normal lunch together. Corey pays the bill, after some protest from Steve, who doesn't think it's fair for Corey to pay, and they head back to their house, chatting all the way. Walking along most of the time with Coreys hand on Steve's back, which gets a big smile out of him.

They go back in, brush their teeth side by side and start to leave the bathroom when Corey suddenly gets an idea.

Corey, with a really big smile says, "I've got it. Come on. We've both already got on shorts... Let's pee, then I know where we're going," which causes Steve to ask where.

Corey only says, "It's a surprise... and no reason to feel guilty about your brothers. I promise. This is something we can do with them any time we come to LA," which causes Steve to smile big.

They grab the backpack and get cold water from the refrigerator, Corey makes sure to pack suntan lotion, and they head for the car. This time Corey takes one of their cars that he's more familiar with... after asking Steve several times if it's ok. They pile in the car and Corey obviously knows where he's going.

Steve isn't very fond of LA traffic. He finds it stressful and annoying... especially given what happened to his family. He's just glad he's not driving, and not sure he ever wants to, at least not here.

Steve finds this time with Corey really amazing. He loves Corey and really loves sex... not just with Corey, but this is like what he does with Luke most of the time... they love each other, they talk, they find things that interest both of them, and they just enjoy each other's company.

Having Corey treat him like an `equal' instead of just a kid that he's babysitting is wonderful for Steve.

They chat for a while, trying to take Steve's mind off the traffic. Corey can see it's stressing him out a bit... it does Corey too, honestly.

After probably 45 minutes or so, Steve starts noticing signs that say `Venice Beach' a lot, so he figures that's where they are going. And he's right, as Corey navigates to a parking lot and pays somebody to park.

They get out of the car and start walking, as Steve's looking around, amazed at the sights and sounds of Venice Beach.

If you've ever been you'll know that Venice Beach is a very nice Bohemian mixture of people and shops. On the beach here you'll always see bodybuilders, male and female, volleyball games, musicians, guys and gals skateboarding, usually not wearing many clothes... it's a very lively fun place.

Add in all the shops on the boardwalk, although in this case it's concrete, it's a wonderful lively place to visit... during the day. The water is iffy in terms of it being unhealthy because of pollution, which is certainly sad, but the beach is still fun.

Corey asks, "Steve, have you ever been to a beach?"

Steve says, "No, my father talked about going someday, but we never made it. I've always wanted to, so thank you," while reaching over and slipping his hand around his waist for a few seconds.

He figures with all the things going on here, nobody will notice or care. He's right. He wants to kiss Corey, at least on the cheek, but doesn't have the nerve.

They walk the entire length of the little strand of shops here, stopping to eat some junk food here and there. They go out and walk on the beach after taking off their shoes and socks and putting them in the backpack.

Corey had remembered that the new dads and Michael had taken the boys to an Amusement Park, because he distinctly remembered Luke saying that they had all fallen in love with Michael that day at the amusement park. It's obviously very important to them all.

They start walking toward the Pier and Steve quickly noticed the Ferris Wheel, and gets a really big smile. Turning toward Corey he says, "They have an Amusement Park. You sneak! I love it!" which makes Corey reach out and hug him closer to him while they're walking.

"I remembered you saying you guys went to an Amusement Park, so I thought this would be nice... and let you see the ocean at the same time. I hope it's ok and I promise, any time we come back with any of you guys, we'll bring them here... so nothing to feel guilty about, ok?" Corey says while looking into each other's deep brown eyes.

"I love you. Thank you," Steve says quietly.

And, just like the first day at an Amusement Park with Michael and the others, the day is wonderful. They ride everything in site. They eat various junk food along the way.

And they have a great time just being together, even catching occasional times to hold hands... and might have even kissed once on the Ferris wheel... it was still daytime, so they made it quick.

Steve's having on and off short bouts of guilt, being here without Luke and his other brothers, but Corey promised all of them can come back the first time theyx come to LA together.

And, thanks to the kindness of a couple really cute guys, Chris and Chad, they have a few great pictures of the four of them.

The cute guys see them together and taking pictures of each other and seem to pick up immediately on what's going on, and even offer to take pictures of both of them. Corey and Steve return the favor.

They're grateful, and spend pretty much the rest of the day with them walking and riding a few rides. They even have somebody else take a few picture of all four of them, that they'll share... as soon as Steve is sure it won't hurt Luke to see them together like this.

There's a difference in their ages also, although the younger one is a few years older than Steve, but nobody asks and nobody tells.

When they mention they live in Palm Springs, turns out the two cute guys do too, so they exchange contact info. Neither Corey nor Steve would be sorry to see them again.

By the time they're all tired enough to walk back to their cars, Corey has no problem with his hand over Steve's shoulder the entire way, nor does Chris with Chad.

They have a wonderful, completely `normal' day... and Steve couldn't be happier. He had never even dared to hope, much less think, that his and Luke's lives would ever be this good again.

The cute guys had parked close by also, and one of them asks if Corey and Luke would like to get something to eat.

They gladly accept, and just leave the cars where they are, and go to one of the local restaurants near the boardwalk. Beats driving somewhere in traffic.

Turns out Chris is 24 and Chad is 16, and have known each other for about a year. It's obvious they're closer than just friends, but everybody's afraid to say anything obvious. But they gradually get to know each other enough to relax... a little.

Steve volunteers that he and his boyfriend and two brothers were recently adopted, who Corey and Michael are, kinda, and says he's in LA for a few days with Corey. They do say that Corey and Michael are boyfriends, but nothing else...

Chris and Chad both ask how his boyfriend feels about that, and Steve only says, with a huge smile, "I'm sure Luke's having just as much fun with Michael," but never explains exactly what that fun might be.

Chad eventually says he isn't sure he'd be comfortable if Chris had come to LA with `another guy', then immediately looks panicked that he's said too much... so there's the confirmation.

Corey and Steve look at each other and smile, and then at the other two... Steve reaches over and takes hold of Corey's hand so that Chris and Chad can see, but discretely enough so that few people in the restaurant can.

And they all find out later that they're pretty pleased with themselves and each other, that they feel comfortable doing that in public... even if it was quick.

The other two just smile, but neither understands how this works if Steve and Corey both have boyfriends in Palm Springs... but they don't feel they know them well enough to ask... yet.

They're also hopeful that they'll eventually get to know them both... a lot better.

Chris and Chad reach over and hold hands for a few minutes also. The big boyfriend-coming-out to each other is at least over.

After finishing their dinner, the other two say they need to head back to Palm Springs, but are debating spending the night in LA. Corey thinks about asking them if they want to spend the night... they have plenty of bedrooms since everybody is in Palm Springs.

But he isn't sure what that would imply as far as `interest' goes... and he certainly doesn't want anything to interfere with his and Steve's time together... so he says nothing, other than he hopes they can get together back in Palm Springs, which they gladly second.

Corey also adds that if they decide to spend the night, to please let them know and maybe they can get together tomorrow and hang out and do something.

So, they all say their goodbyes... and manage to give and get pretty good hugs in the process, and they even give each other quick kisses on the cheek. They all exchange phone numbers, so they can stay in touch.

They both feel happy to have met the two, even if nothing `productive' came from it.

Corey and Steve have gotten much more comfortable with each other today, and oddly being around the other two helped to somehow put the thought in their minds that they really can go out in public together, and even meet other people... if they're careful about it. That relieves a lot of stress over their relationship that they really didn't even know they had.

On the way back they chat about meeting Chris and Chad, and how nice it was. They both want to get to know them better, and both are having a little trouble figuring out how to tell Michael and Luke.

Corey and Steve had a great time with each other, doing something as simple and normal as going to the beach together for the day.

They get back home and go inside to the Living Room, Steve turns to Corey and kisses him saying, "Corey, thank you. Today was great. It was really nice just going out kinda as a couple and doing something pretty normal... well... if you live near the beach, anyway," which gets a small laugh from both. Corey nudges Steve to join him on the sofa.

Corey says, "It was very nice Steve, thank you. I almost invited those two to spend the night... in their own bedroom, but wasn't sure what that would imply... and I don't want anything to interfere with our time together. But maybe we can get together with them and the four of us after we get back... and, uh, see what Michael and Luke think. I don't really know what they'll think."

Steve, having similar thoughts, says, "Yeah, I thought about that too. I don't think Luke will have any problem meeting them... honestly, I wouldn't mind getting to know them a lot better... maybe even for sex, but I'm not sure how Luke will feel... but I don't intend to lie about it. If it's a problem, hopefully we can still be friends... What has happened to me Corey? I never would have said that before," which makes Corey laugh.

Corey is again impressed with Steve's maturity. He says, "Yeah, I get it. I'm not sure what Michael will think either, but I certainly intend to be honest... and if he's only interested in being friends with them, then no problem. We don't know if Chris and Chad are interested in anything else either."

But right now Steve is more interested in other things, and he knows that Corey and Michael are still reluctant to take the lead with him and Luke.

Corey's pretty sure what he's thinking... and says, "If we invite them to stay here, which I think is a good idea, we should ask Michael and Luke first... and, I don't think we should even think about doing anything with them... at least until we get back and talk to Michael and Luke and they've had a chance to meet them. I don't want either to get jealous, and they don't know these guys... what do you think?"

After contemplating for a good while, Steve says, "I agree. How about sending this picture of all of us together, telling them they live in PS and you're inviting them to stay here... but no sex will happen? That we just want to hang out with them in LA."

Corey smiles and agrees saying, "I'm telling them that WE are inviting them to stay here, just to be clear," and they both laugh.

He offers to let Steve send the message to Michael and Luke, but Steve asks him to do it. And he does, asking them to call back after they both have a chance to think about it... but assures them it's just to hang out with them. They both hope they didn't just really screw everything up.

It's about ten minutes before Corey's phone rings. It's Michael and Luke on a Facetime call.

First thing out of Luke's mouth is, "So, you run off with your other boyfriend and then find two others, huh?" but he says it so matter of factly that Steve and Corey aren't sure if he's mad or not.

Steve panics and says, "Luke... No. It's not like that. We just thought they're really nice and wanted to get to know them a bit... but, no problem, we won't invite them over," hoping Luke isn't pissed.

Luke starts laughing and says, "Steve, I'm just kidding. They're both cute, but isn't there a big age difference? Kinda like us?" he says laughing, while motioning to him and Michael... and then toward the phone/camera to Steve and Corey.

After he can breathe again Steve says, "Yeah, one is 24 and the other is 16. The younger one kinda screwed up and admitted that they're boyfriends... we, uh... kinda outed ourselves too.

"But really guys, we were just thinking they're nice and think you'll like them too. We aren't going to do anything with them. We just thought we could sightsee some together. But, if it's a problem... then no problem."

Michael says he thinks they're cute too, and he has no problem but appreciates them asking first. He assures Corey and Steve that he thinks it's good to get to know them. He says that the older one even looks a little familiar, but he can't place him.

Corey offers, "They're really nice guys. We ran into them at Santa Monica Pier today and really enjoyed hanging out with them. They saw us and offered to take some pictures of both of us, and we did the same for them.

"We spent a few hours together, and then we walked over to a restaurant before we left and had dinner. We'll make it very clear that if they want to stay here instead of their hotel for two nights, that sex is NOT available.

"IF that ever happens, it has to be after you two meet them and they meet you... Nobody's even said anything about sex and we don't even know if they're interested in that."

Luke blurts out, "You want me to call them and ask?"

After everybody finishes laughing out loud, Steve asks with big eyes, "What happened to you? You never used to be like this," with Luke laughing as much as the others.

Luke, being Luke, hesitates just a second and says, "Trust me... I'm having a ball... or four to be exact. Seriously guys, Steve and Corey, thank you so much for doing this. I miss both of you... a lot, but I'm loving spending some time with Michael, and I really hope you guys are too."

Steve says, "I agree Luke, and I'm really enjoying my time with Corey, but I miss you. We already said we really want to talk about all this when you get back... and maybe do some sharing. So guys, how about this? We can all do anything we want... don't hurt each other... and I promise you... I'll love it, but we have to tell each other all about it... and ...uh ...maybe have a re-enactment... or ten. How's that?"

They all laugh and Luke sputters out, "HOT AS HELL... YES! Seriously Steve, I love you so much. I never ever thought we would want to do this... or could do this... but Steve I love you so much. You too Corey. Thank you both for the chance to do this."

But, just to be perfectly clear Corey wants to dot the i's and cross the t's as far as sex is concerned.

He asks, "Guys, just to be clear, what are our options if we invite these guys over and THEY want sex? Can we, or is it better to wait until you can meet them? I don't want there to be any hurt feelings here. Please?"

Michael and Luke look at each other, but nobody says anything... until Luke speaks up, "Michael and Corey, I'm the one that pushed this with you, more than Steve did. Steve and Corey, I love you and want you to do anything that you want to do. No problem, I promise. They're cute and if they live here, I'm all for getting to know them... a LOT better. So, have fun... Sex too, IF they're somebody you really think would make great friends. Michael?"

Michael smiles at Luke's answer and then turns to the camera and says, "Guys, I agree. Luke and Steve, I think Corey and I being older, we aren't quite as concerned about it as you guys. As long as it's SAFE, I don't have any problem with whatever you do. But, guys, please be sure you are both ok with it... really. Corey and I don't want to cause any problems here either. OK?"

Steve and Luke both say something like, "No Problem with us, if you two are sure," so I guess it may be settled, if it's an option.

After a few rounds of "I love you all" are given back and forth, they decide that inviting them over isn't a problem. So, they send a different picture back of all four of them from their phones and ask them to call, which they do after only a couple minutes.

It's a Facetime call, and Corey and Steve forgot to mention they're sitting naked in bed, but covered from the waist down.

They answer the call and immediately blush. They apologize several times and say they forgot, hoping they believe them.

Chris and Chad laugh and pull back their phone so a little more can be seen, and they're sitting in bed too, naked down to the waist... at least. They all have a good laugh. It seems like the ice is broken.

Corey nods to Steve, who explains that they want to invite them to stay at the house for the next two nights, and maybe they can do some sightseeing together, which Chris and Chad are very happy about.

They arrange that Chris and Chad will come to their house tomorrow morning, as soon as they can check out of their hotel and get there, then they'll all walk out for breakfast. They say they'll send the address in a text message, which they later do.

They finish a great conversation even more convinced that they really want to get to know these two guys a lot better.

They kiss for minutes and Steve lays down beside Corey and they drift peacefully off to sleep, hugging each other and thinking about how much they love each other... and honestly, how guilty they are for that. And for what they just did.

And hoping to do it many, many, many more times.
