16 - Palm Springs Family - Figuring Things Out

This is a 'Coming of Age' story... It wasn't supposed to include a lot of sex, but the boys seem to have their own ideas... and fair warning, they're quickly getting over their shyness, especially Luke and Steve. This chapter continues their sometimes emotional journey to young adulthood.

Day 9, 2nd Saturday Afternoon

After Lunch

Steve and Luke - The Talk

Between getting the iPads and Computer set up, and Luke and Michael going shopping, and the pool, and eating... it had turned into a busy day.

Luke and Steve both are both bothered by what they're feeling. They know they have to be honest, but it's not easy when you don't know what you're thinking, or why.

They haven't showered yet, and are lying on the bed curled up with each other. Michael and Corey are off schmoozing with the dads or something. Most of the other boys are still outside.

Steve wants to say something to Luke, "Luke... Are you mad at me about Corey?" sounding a little more worried than he intended.

Luke, who's having his own turmoil at the moment looks into the eyes of the one person he loves completely and unconditionally...

What he sees in the eyes he loves scares him. He sees worry... and guilt! He knows why. It's the exact same reason he's worried and guilty... over Michael. But, what do they do about it.

Looking deeply into the eyes he loves so much, "No, Steve. I'm not mad at you, or Corey. You really do love him don't you?"

Steve starts crying, before he even tries to answer. He wipes his eyes and says, "Yeah, I love him, Luke. You really love Michael too, don't you?"

Now it's Luke's turn. He takes Steve's face and gently points it toward his own. He sees his own tears in Steve's eyes. They both just sit and cry for a few minutes, while holding each other.

Luke, with a lot of worry, finally says, "Yeah... I do. I love Michael. But, Steve, I love you just as much as I always have... I promise. Even more... Please don't leave me for Corey. Please?" and he starts to really cry.

What they don't know is that the dads are all sitting in the living room, and hear one or both of them crying... They look at each other and know they shouldn't have let this go on this long... But now what the fuck do they do?

Steve can't believe his ears...

He panics, "Luke, I'll NEVER leave you. NEVER. But yeah, I... love Corey too. Michael too, but last night and today with Corey, I can't explain it Luke... I really care for him... I love him, but I love you more than I ever did... I won't ever leave you for anybody else Luke. I promise.

"But Luke, I really liked being with Corey today. He's really smart. He knows a lot about computers. He's really sweet... I really enjoyed sex with you, and him and Michael... I just don't know what any of this means Luke. Can we love both of them and still love each other? I do love you... and them, especially Corey."

Luke, still crying a little, says, "I know. I asked Michael today why this is so hard. He said it's because it's about how people feel... He (speaking quietly) also said the dads aren't very happy with them either... I guess because they're not spending time together. What can we do, Steve? I really do love you... so much... but, I've fallen in love with Michael too.

"When it started, I really did just think of him as a really... uhh... sexy big brother. But it turned into more. I really enjoyed what I did with Corey, uhhh... in the shower, and sitting on his dick... (they both laugh)... but, I don't want to lose you Steve. Ever. Please?"

Steve says, "I don't want to lose you either. Did you talk to Michael about doing stuff... alone... with them?"

"Yeah, I did. He said he felt that way too, as long as you and Corey do. Uhh, Steve, I really liked what we did... in the shower. Michael said he does too.... Did you?"

Steve, laughing, says, "Yeah. I do... Maybe not quite as much as you... and Michael. How do you feel about having sex and doing stuff with just Michael? Uhhh... (hesitating) I'll be honest Luke. I'd really like to do that with Corey... some. But, Luke, can we do that... without ending up breaking up over them? I don't want to do that Luke... not ever."

They sit and look into each other's eyes for a moment, and Luke finally says, "I don't know... gawd, I want to have sex with you... and Michael... and Corey too, but I don't know. Why is this so hard? Why can't we just be like our dads Steve? Why can't we just say we love each other, and we each love Michael and Corey... like they all do. They've figured all this stuff out, why can't we?

"Why can't we all be together with them some, and just us most of the time... and maybe each of us with each of them some... I trust you Steve. I hope you trust me. I won't lie to you. I won't ever leave you... I don't want you to leave me... Steve... please."

Steve sits and stares at Luke... trying to get his thoughts in order.

He finally says, "Luke, I won't ever stop loving you... or leave you. I want to love you... and Corey... and Michael... Can we just do that, and trust each other... I love you so much Luke... We have an amazing family, with great dads, and brothers... and Michael and Corey...

"And you're right Luke. Why can't we just be like our dads... and decide we're just going to enjoy all of it? Like you said Luke, I don't want to go back to what we had before... but... I don't mean YOU. Luke... I love you. That's never going to change... but why can't we just admit that we also love Corey and Michael too...

"I really enjoyed being with Corey today Luke. We worked on the computers and stuff, but honestly, I just liked talking to him... like we're talking now... well... not about this, but you know what I mean... I hope (chuckle). But... Luke... we did kiss, like three times... mostly quick. Did you enjoy being with just Michael today?"

Luke recognizes guilt when he sees it, he chuckles a bit and says, "Steve, it's ok. I really do love Michael too. I kissed Michael twice I think... quick... in the car... when we were sure nobody was around. I really did like going out with Michael... It was just shopping, but it was fun.

"Steve, for the first time since we lost our parents... and sister, it just seemed... normal. It seemed like he really is my sexy big brother. Some woman even said to us that it was so nice seeing two brothers who love each other that much.... (both laughing). It just felt really good."

Steve, wiping away a few remaining tears, looks into Luke's eyes and says, "Luke, let's do this. Let's just trust each other... You can go with Michael where you want, and have sex with him... just you and him. I can do the same with Corey... some. BUT Luke, we have to always talk to each other, and be honest, and sleep with each other most of the time...

"And Luke... if either of us ever loves one of them more than we love each other, we have to tell each other. As soon as it happens. Can we do that? Will we do that? And if it happens, what will we do Luke? I can't lose you Luke... I can't... We've both already lost too much! Please Luke, I can't lose you too..."

And they cry more.

After they're kinda cried out... Steve wipes his eyes on his arm and says, "Luke, can we maybe go talk to our dads about this? They were worried about all of this. Maybe they can say something that makes sense... we can just be honest and tell them how we're feeling. Will you do that with me?"

Luke looks at first like he's going to panic, but thinks about it and finally just says, "Yeah, let's go."

They debate very briefly about getting dressed first, but decide, "Why get dressed?' The dads saw us naked all day," so, off they go.

Worried Dads' Advice

The four dads are in the living room, actually wearing shorts this time, which surprises both of them, so they go in and sit down on a sofa... naked.

Steve says, "Dads, can we talk to you? It's about us and Michael and Corey."

Alex and Kevin look at each other, figuring that's what this was about... Kevin says, "Of course you can sons... any time."

Ken uses that to say, "Guys, we'll go and let you have some privacy."

But, Luke and Steve know it involves them too, and say so, and they reluctantly agree to stay.

Alex says, "We heard you crying a little earlier... Guys... is everything all right? We never should have let you do that with them... and, we're not very happy with Michael about those kisses right now."

Just then, Michael and Corey come in from Michael's room... and they hear what Kevin just said. Seeing everybody sitting there, with the boys having red eyes, their first thought is 'SHIT'! They reluctantly take seats as far from the two boys as possible.

Steve and Luke both panic. Steve quickly adds, "Dads, no. It's not Michael's fault... or Corey's... and, dads, you said you'd never treat us like little kids... you can't do that and then tell us we can't figure this stuff out. It's something we wanted to do, dads. We don't regret what we did... at all. We promise."

Kevin laughs a little sadly and says, "When did you two get so smart? Steve and Luke, you're right... but, we really don't want to see you two get hurt... So... why don't you start, and just tell us what you want to tell us. How's that?"

Steve and Luke look at each other for a few seconds, trying to get their thoughts together.

Steve turns to the dads and says, "Dads, we both just talked.... and cried a little too. (looking sadly at Luke). We both admitted that... uhhh... dads. We love Michael and Corey. But, we still love each other, just as much as we ever did... even more.

"Dads, we just don't know what to do about all of this. You both said you went thru this... knowing you love each other, but also have feelings for somebody else... Like Michael... And Corey (looking at Jared and Ken). How did you deal with it? Wasn't it hard?"

Nobody knows exactly what to say, but Kevin knows they have to say something.

He thinks for a bit and says, "Yes, sons. It is hard. It can be very hard. The first few dozen times it happened with us (looking at Alex and both chuckling a little sadly), we had arguments... Sometimes really big arguments. Sons we're all so incredibly proud of both of you... You're talking about this and figuring it out, instead of arguing... We both got to the 'talking' part, but we didn't start there... You both did...

"But sons, you're right, it is really hard... The first time you see the person you totally love making out with or fucking or being fucked by somebody else.... Honestly it fucks with your heart... And your head...

"But honestly, for us, the sex wasn't even the hardest part. We were about two years younger than Michael and Corey when we met, and it was pretty easy for both of us to say 'sex is fun, let's all have sex'.

"We had known each other only about two weeks before we had our first threesome with somebody else... and it was great. It was somebody your dad Alex knew... and had sex with before we met. He was young and cute... and fun. And we got together with him several times after that.

"The hardest part for both of us was just seeing each other laughing and joking and really enjoying being with somebody else. That hurt the most, because... it made both of us think that the other one would rather be with that person instead of each other.

"You know you love each other with all your heart, but it makes you doubt if the other person truly loves you back, seeing them enjoy being with somebody else so much.

"It took us a long time to feel confident enough in our love for each other to realize that enjoying being with somebody else wasn't a threat to either of us. It took us a lot more time to honestly admit that neither of us can be everything that each other will ever need in a friend, or partner... and to admit that we both will meet other people that we enjoy being with just as much as each other... as friends... and sometimes as lovers too.

"Sons, you have to be able to trust each other. You have to be able to trust that you can go and really enjoy being with somebody else, and not hurt each other, and we're all so incredibly proud of you both for admitting that you also love Michael and Corey... instead of pretending that you don't.

"The only way this will work, we all promise you, is if you're honest about what you feel and what you want... from each other, and from Michael and Corey. If you don't truly trust each other, you'll never be able to do this sons."

Ken speaks up too, which he usually doesn't, "Guys, your dad's right. It can be very hard. We had a lot of arguments over that when we were about Corey's and Michael's ages too. And we're just as proud of both of you.

"When we first did this... I felt jealous. I was always afraid Jared would find somebody he loves more than me... it took me a long time to get over that... you guys are honestly dealing with all of this a lot better than I did," which makes both Luke and Steve very happy to hear. They both thank him for saying that.

All four of the dads just look at each other... and even smile a little.

The four of them have talked about this almost non-stop since it started. They all remember their own initial forays into sex with somebody else, after they met and fell in love, and know that what initially started out as just the newness and horniness of sex, will gradually be replaced with a true life-long love for both Michael and Corey... and not just be all about sex.

It happened with all of them with Michael and Corey, and these worries are a sure sign that it's already happening with Luke and Steve... faster than it did with any of them.

And Kevin is sure that right now the thing that's scaring Luke and Steve to death is that their true feelings for both of them are getting stronger, and they're both pretty quickly realizing that it's not just about sex.

They're both worried about what it will mean if they truly love Michael and Corey, and it's not just about sex? And especially since they're in the process of admitting they truly love somebody other than just the one person they thought they would spend their entire lives with.

But they're all incredibly proud of these two young men. None of the adults went straight to talking about it and worrying about what it means. All of them went straight to arguing about it, and that's honestly what scared them the most when this started... afraid they would end up having huge arguments over this.

The dads want to try to find some way of helping them deal with their feelings and try to help them realize that they're not threats to their relationship with each other. But that's a hard thing to do.

Alex gives a mostly impartial explanation of why they're sitting here. "Michael and Corey, Luke and Steve are... having some strong feeling about the two of you. They're trying to figure out how they can love each other, and both of you... and what happens next."

Luke decides he better be honest too, says, "Dads, it was my idea to go with Michael today and let Steve work with Corey," he says blushing.

Kevin decides that's a good starting point, "Ok... why was it important to spend some time with just one of them today? Luke, you said you suggested it. Can you tell us why that was important to you?"

Luke and Steve just look at each other for a bit.

Luke starts, "I really thought it was a good way to just spend some normal time together... I even had to get dressed (gets chuckles). And I know we can't have sex all the time (which gets a little laugh).

"Dads... all of you... since losing our parents... and sister, and ending up in the group home... nothing seems normal any more. It just felt really good... to go out with Michael and do something... normal. And I really did enjoy doing something as stupid as going shopping... and just being with each other."

Steve turns to Corey and says, "I do love you Corey, and it's not just about sex either. I loved working with you today. You're so good at explaining things and you never treated me like some little kid... and Corey, it all just felt really nice and... normal. Luke's right.

Everybody just sits and looks at each other. It's an unsettling realization to all the adults that they both said that things don't feel 'normal' anymore... not that anybody has a clue what to do about it.

Leave it to Luke,

"Dads, all of you... you all said you were happy for Michael and Corey, and now somebody said you're mad at them. You're the ones who said you were happy that they're boyfriends. Why are you mad at them now?"

They know they've been completely busted, and no adult is in a hurry to answer. And Michael is so proud of Luke he can't stand it, because he knows he's the one that told Luke that... but Luke didn't rat him out... and he thinks it's a great question... and wouldn't mind hearing the answer too. And he's trying really hard not to smile.

Alex finally decides somebody has to say something, "Guys I promise you. We are all very happy for Michael and Corey... I promise. And you guys too. We promise.

"But sons, you have to realize, these two guys have been an equal, very important part of our lives for about six years, for almost every day and almost every night. And Steve, like you just said, it's not just about sex... we love Michael and Corey... a lot. We love spending time with them too. Even just lying in bed together at night... and talking. We miss that," which gets a sad look on Luke's face that isn't missed by many.

"Sons, it's very hard to just have them suddenly disappear, even if we're very happy for both of them... and you. And we are. We'll get over it, but it'll take a little time... and right now, we don't even know what... uhhhh... whether... they... will continue to be part of our relationships or not. We're not sure if we're going to lose them too. So, it's hard on us right now, too."

Michael and Corey look at each other, and know they've wondered how they were going to fix this situation with the 'dads'... they've talked with each other some about what they want to happen with each of them and each of their dads. They've both even talked to their 'dads' a little about it too.

Michael thinks this is a great chance to say what they're thinking in more detail, so he says, "Guys, Corey and I have talked about this too. We do NOT want to EVER stop being part of... us... this... at all. We want to find out how... we can... Damn. I can't say this with Luke and Steve here," he says with exasperation.

Luke and Steve look at each other, wicked smile, and Steve, not Luke, says,

"Dads, Michael is trying to say he wants to keep sleeping with you too... and you guys too (looking at Ken and Jared), so why don't all six of you just go to the bedroom and fuck and get it over with," with a big smile and then Luke and him burst out laughing... And, then, finally so do the six adults in question.

Luke won't let it go, "Except that our dads would freak out again, we could all just go in their bedroom, we're already naked... and have sex... How's that?"

Alex objects loudly, "No! Not Now! Not Ever!"

Pretty much everybody, including Alex, sees Luke's shoulders drop and the deeply hurt look on his face at that comment. But he doesn't say anything else, figuring it'll just make dad Alex mad again.

Alex definitely notices too, and it looks like he was just stabbed in the heart... and he know's he'll never be able to do what Luke wants, and is afraid Luke will end up hating him because of it.

Ken, much to everybody's surprise, says, "We did that last night... well, at least four of us did... So, we're pretty good at the moment... except we really need a bigger bed!" which gets big eyes from not just the boys, and then a big laugh that goes on for a while.

Finally, Kevin offers, "So, let me get this... I hate to use this word, but 'straight' (which gets a little laugh). Luke and Steve want to stay lovers and boyfriends, and be with Michael and Corey when you all want to... together and separately, as friends, brothers, boyfriends and lovers. Michael and Corey, how do you feel about that?"

Corey, after looking at Michael, says, "I really do love both of you guys. And you're right Steve. It's definitely not just about sex. I totally enjoyed the time we spent together today... it was great just working with you... You're a joy to be with, you're incredibly smart, I just loved talking to you a lot today, and you're very good with technical things too.

"Michael and I have talked just a little about all of this, but I really would like to spend some more time with both of you, together or apart... and not just for sex.

"Michael too (which gets a little laugh). I love you Michael, and I agree... I never expected to have the feelings for you guys that I have (looking at Steve and Luke). But I do. Michael?"

Michael isn't going to lie either, "I agree Corey. I loved the time we both spent with these guys, and like Luke said, I also really enjoyed doing something as stupid as shopping today with Luke...

"Guys, I'd really like it, if we can just get over all the labels and trust each other not to hurt anybody."

Michael looks directly into Corey's eyes and says, "Corey, I really do love you. I miss you so much when you're not here. A lot more than I was expecting... after two nights together. (a little laugh) Please don't dump me. (sad laugh). I don't want to give you up Corey. I really loved the few times we've made love to each other.... alone (nervous laugh from pretty much everybody). But, I also enjoyed being with you guys (looking at Luke and Steve)... way more than I probably should.

"And Alex and Kevin, I miss you... both... a lot (a tear runs down his face). I don't know how to do this either. Ken and Jared, I... uhhh... really would like getting to know both of you a lot better too."

They all sit... red faced... but nobody has a suggestion. Until...

Steve, who has been sitting and thinking, says, "It seems we all want the same thing here... and nobody is willing to say it. You all want to have sex with each other... me too... well, maybe not 'the dads', since they totally freaked out even joking about that," also not looking very happy about it... also not missed by any of them.

"But, when Michael and Corey want to be with each other, Luke, I want us to sleep together like we always have... and have sex. Often! (nervous laugh... from somebody) I'll never give you up.

"Luke, maybe, some of the time, you can do things with just Michael, and not just sex... and I can do the same with just Corey, when that's ok with you guys," Looking at Corey and Michael.

"Eventually I'd like to spend more time with Michael and you said you'd like to be with Corey some too.

"So, Michael and Corey and all the dads... work out a schedule and let us all know. How's that?"

Lots of long laughing ensued.

Steve and Luke go to all the dads, pull them up by their hands, hug and thank them for what they all said, and kiss them on the cheek.

About then, three boys come in with computer or phone or iPad questions. Steve and Corey look at each other, and go with them to help.

What none of them realize is that the three boys had started into the living room earlier to ask Steve about something, but when they heard them talking... they stopped, not wanting to interrupt... and they heard pretty much everything that was said.

Aiden, Daniel and Diego just look at each other for a while... and know they need to have an honest talk with each other too.

The dads all talk about it later, all very impressed with the maturity both Luke and Steve are showing... and can't help but be very proud of them. And for the first time since this started, they're all pretty sure it'll all work out just fine... eventually.

And this conversation may have just answered another question that Ken and Jared had brought up earlier... involving a possible trip to LA.

But what happened also made it very clear that Luke is not buying Alex's argument that it's somehow ok for the boys to have sex with Michael and Corey, but not them. It's totally killing him to cause Luke this much sadness, but knows he'll hate himself for the rest of his life if he ever lets that happen. Damn it.

On With The Day

Luke gets up and moves over to sit... mostly beside, and a little on, Michael, who wraps his arms around him, leans forward and kisses him on the cheek from behind, and all is ok in their world again... at least for the moment.

The dads just sit, and watch and think about all this, but at least this time, they all actually smile.

Michael looks at Luke and says, "OK, boyfriend (which gets a huge grin from Luke)... want to help me with dinner... We're going to have a bunch of boys screaming bloody murder if we don't get busy."

Luke thinks he just had an orgasm, he's so happy, and says, "Yep. Let's go!"

And off they go.

Luke had suggested they fix hamburgers tonight, even though they'd grilled out yesterday, so that's what they bought when they were out. He figured he and Steve have a little 'brother mending' to do too.

Dads Alone... Again

Alex looks at Ken and Jared, sighs big, and with a big smile says, "I guess all this means we're responsible for our own orgasms for a while... Any suggestions?"

Ken and Jared look at each other, and Ken says, "Yep. Another margarita! Maybe two. And maybe a bigger bed... And hurry up with that schedule!" which gets big laughs.

Kevin and Jared get up, collects the glasses, and heads for the margarita machine.

About 4PM

Hamburger Helper

Turns out Luke is a big help in the kitchen... his hands sometime wander, but otherwise, he does a very good job.

They bought hamburger patties today, but still have some older hamburger to use. Michael makes the hamburger patties...

Luke always looks like he's going to throw up when Michael starts making patties out of dead cow, so he decides to busy himself with cleaning and lighting the grill, making a salad, getting drinks ready, getting potato salad in a serving bowl, and cleaning up the outside tables.

They have to admit they make a pretty good team.

They both also admit, just to themselves, they really do want to sleep together tonight... just the two of them. But, they figure that won't happen.

What Michael and Luke forget is that from the desktop computer, where Steve and Corey are helping the other boys, you can see into the kitchen and even part of the outdoor dining area, where Michael and Luke are working.

Steve and Corey manage to get a few quick kisses together, when other boys aren't around, and happen to look up just as Michael and Luke give each other a big kiss. Steve and Corey just look at each other and smile... big...

Steve takes his hand and asks Corey to go with him. They walk into the kitchen, just as Michael and Luke are kissing again.

They look up very embarrassed, knowing they've been totally busted.

Michael starts to apologize, and Steve does the 'Luke' thing and holds up his hand... He turns and gives Corey the best damn kiss he's ever given him.

He then turns back to them and says, "Guys can we be honest here? We all have some unfinished business with each other... don't we? Luke, if you and Michael want to sleep together tonight, you have my blessings... I mean it. As long as Corey and I can. Then, tomorrow, for at least a couple days, we go back to our official boyfriend. How's that?"

Michael and Luke look at each other, both get a huge smile, and Michael asks, "Corey. Are you really ok with this?"

Corey, who's looking a little shell shocked at the moment, hesitates, then looks Steve in the eyes, says with a big ass-eating grin, "Yeah. I actually think that's a great idea... I think we all need to... uh... talk some about this... but, to be clear, not just talk... agreed?"

"Agreed" everybody says with a few nervous chuckles.

And so it's decided.

Michael, Luke, Corey, Steve

Corey and Steve hang around and help finish getting dinner ready, a little earlier than usual, but nobody complains. Luke goes out to gather boys from the pool, Steve goes thru the house doing the same.

They sit and talk and have a great dinner together, and even the dads all seem much happier.... I guess they decided they're going to get some tonight too, and that they'll just go with the flow for a while.

After a pretty routine dinner, the four boyfriends get up and clean up everything that the other boys didn't put in the dishwasher. They kinda finish and suddenly stand there staring at each other, a little uncomfortable.

Steve walks over to Luke, takes his face in his hands, and gives him his very best toe curling kiss ever... which leaves Luke a little breathless, and causes all four of their 'little mes' to wake up.

He leans over and whispers something in Luke's ear, which gets him a big blush, really big smile, and Luke gives Steve a very happy nod... and a quick kiss.

Steve goes to Michael, and repeats the dick-fluffing kiss... which causes his dick to jump a little more, while Luke moves over to seriously kiss some face with Corey, taking the opportunity to rub his face gently against Corey's.

And, not to be left out, Michael then goes over and kisses Corey as hotly as he has ever kissed anybody.

Then Steve goes back to Corey and whispers something in his ear, which causes him to blush... turns and says, "Goodnight. I love you both!"

They all say the same thing, and Corey and Steve head down to Steve and Luke's bedroom, hand in hand. Michael takes Luke by the hand, and leads him to his.

All the dads, who're back to their grueling routine of sitting around talking, just shake their heads... and smile.

Steve and Corey Alone

They walk into the room and close the door behind them.

Steve turns and takes hold of Corey's face, looking him directly into his eyes, and says, "I do love you Corey," and kisses him with all the love he has.

Corey, not escaping a few tears, says, "I love you too Steve. I really do."

Finally, Aiden looks into Luke's eyes and says, "Today is 6 months... since... my gran died. I lived with her after my parents died on vacation. She died 6 months ago today... and I was put in the Foster home. I miss her so much. She was the only person in my family that ever loved me," ...and breaks down sobbing. Luke hugs him even tighter, and Steve sits down on the other side of him...

They hug and gently rub the Aiden's back until he recovers a little... He apologizes, especially to his new dads...

Jared and Ken kneel down and hug Aiden and Jared says, "Aiden, we're so sorry... we didn't realize it's been 6 months. Is there anything we can do to help," and both hug the still teary boy.

He hugs back... and finally says, "It's ok. She was sick for a long time... It's just hard to see people you love... keep... going away. I'll be ok. It just hurts... a lot."

After more hugs Luke asks why he's up so early... It's not even 7AM yet.

Aiden says he always used to get up early to help his gran with breakfast.

Luke asks if he likes to cook... which get a little smile from him, and he says, "Yeah... It was something my gran taught me to do... I always really liked doing that, especially with her."

Steve looks up at Michael and Corey with a raised eyebrow, who nod their heads, and Corey squats down in front of him and asks, "Aiden... how about helping us in the kitchen this morning... I think your gran would be really happy seeing you do that again. Please?"

Aiden looks torn between hugging Corey and running away as fast as he can... but, after a few seconds, he finally gives in and hugs Corey a long time and says, "I'd like that."

After another really tight hug, Luke and Steve stand up and pull Aiden up with them, take him by the hand, and all five of them head to the kitchen, while all the dads are just standing watching, with a few tears of their own.

Ken finally says, "Well, damn."
