15 - Palm Springs Family - The Day After

Day 9 Sat morning early

Dads Stirring

The four dads, who have all finally made it from the dads bedroom, just one bedroom this time, come into the kitchen and start coffee, and hear sudden loud laughter coming from Michael's room.

They look at each other, shrug, and feel very jealous... of somebody. They're just not sure of whom... but they have a pretty good idea.

Earlier

Michael's POV

Corey and I decide we're going to put on shorts and shirts. We still feel a little odd cooking for everybody while naked, even though Alex and Kevin and I used to be naked most of the time, including cooking and eating.

Luke and Steve say they're going back to their rooms to brush their teeth and stuff, and let us get dressed.

They hug us but obviously want to say something, but they both look suddenly very sad. We hug them tight and Corey asks what's wrong...

Luke and Steve look at each other, their eyes get red, and tears start running down their faces... We both grab them and hug them as tight as we can, while asking what's wrong...

Steve, not Luke, looks into Corey's eyes and says heartbroken, "You're never going to do this with us again, are you?" and really starts shedding tears... Luke's doing the same thing.

Corey and I just look at each other, and our hearts break all over for these boys.

Corey looks pretty desperately at me and then says, "Guys. Let's sit down on the bed for a minute. Guys, we love you both... seriously. We were both so afraid doing this would hurt you both. You love each other so much and we were really afraid this was a mistake...

"But, guys, we do love you... We don't have a clue what that means, or why, or how... You're a LOT younger than us, but guys... uhhh... Michael," pleading for me to say... something profound.

I'm not feeling very profound at the moment, but I've got to say something, "Luke. Steve. We do love you both... so much. I love you. Corey loves you. That was all incredible. You're both amazing. We just don't know what any of this means... We really don't...

But, we need to be sure you're still ok with everything. Steve continues, "Luke, I want to sleep with you tonight, and talk... And, Luke, please don't hate me... please... I won't ever stop loving you Luke, I promise... But, I also love Corey and Michael. Is that Ok? Please?"

Luke, looking totally happy to hear that, says, "Yep. It's perfect! Me too."

Corey and I sit and just smile at each other, and the boys... We get up, pull them up, hug them tight, kiss Luke and Steve, and I tell them, "Ok, go brush your teeth... you taste like cum... or pee... or both."

We all totally lose it, laughing and hugging, and start to walk out of the bedroom toward the kitchen... The dads see all four of us with red eyes, and immediately think there's a big problem...

All Alex hears is 'two somebodies'... So he asks, "Two somebodies???" looking at Michael and Corey.

Steve notices and figures he better say something, "Yep. We fucked them last night before dinner. Michael says to everybody, "We've got about an hour before breakfast is supposed to be ready, come on Corey... We've got work to do. We're going to have a lot of hungry boys wanting to eat!"

Luke volunteers, "We'll be right back... uhhh... got to go brush our teeth. Then we'll help!" and off they go... but they don't even get out of sight before they come back and go back to Michael's room, and come back out with their toothbrushes... "Forgot these."

And off they go down the hall to their room.

Which leaves all the dads standing and looking at Corey and Michael.

Alex finally says, "Guys, without violating anybody's privacy, did everything go ok?"

Michael and Corey look at each other, smile a little, and Michael says, "You won't believe what those two did... They had totally planned what they were, uhhh... going to do to us last night... and they did it. Those guys are way more mature than just their ages... And... I know that doesn't excuse... what we did, but guys... As best we could tell, there was no jealousy at all.

"No matter what they, or we, were doing, they would always reach over to rub the other one, or reach over to kiss the other one... Steve suggested they sleep together tonight, for us too, and he said he wants to talk to Luke about everything, but that there is no problem."

Alex, not quite sure, says, "I hope so guys. Have you thought about what happens next?"

Corey hesitates, and then says, "Not really. The boys are worried that we think they're kids, and we'll uhhh... 'dump them' I guess. We don't think of them like that. And, we would never do anything like that to them anyway, it would hurt them... but, honestly, we don't know what they want to happen, and we don't know either... I guess we're just going to play it by ear, and hope it doesn't blow up. It's not a great plan, but..."

Michael, "Well... We better get started on breakfast. Uhhhh... did you four have a good evening?" which gets some unkind looks from the 'dads'... and makes Michael quickly add, "Never mind... got to get started... Come on... boyfriend!"

After they're gone, the four dads look at each other... and sort of smile.

Kevin adds, "Somehow, when I always imagined our family with the boys, I never thought about them taking Michael and Corey away from us."

Which at least does get a few half-hearted laughs.

Michael and Corey, who had just walked into the kitchen, hear that comment... and look at each other without a clue what to do.

Michael leans over and whispers, "Damn, is he serious? What are we going to do about that?"

Corey answers, "Hell if I know. I thought before that Ken and Jared weren't quite as enthusiastic with the two of us being boyfriends as they said... especially if we're going to live here so the two of us can be together a lot more."

Michael says quietly, "I'd thought that too, but neither Kevin or Alex have made any comments like that before, at least not that I've heard... Shit. The dads aren't happy that we're together. Luke and Steve both want to be with us. We have no time to be with each other. Damn."

Corey reluctantly adds, "Yeah... somehow this isn't what I thought the problem would be... I guess we're going to have to talk to the four of them, and figure out how we can do this. Damn."

"Yeah," Michael says pretty dejectedly.

2nd Saturday Morning together

The dads are still sitting, drinking their coffee, trying to figure out how to ask each other if fucking each other all night is a 'problem'.

Truth be told, none of them feel like it is, although they seriously need a bigger bed if they're going to do that much... and they already have a King sized bed, so not sure there are any bigger options.

Fucking together was a lot more fun than all four trying to sleep in the same bed.

And truth be told, not that they would tell anyway, but all four of them had been horny, pissed at Michael and Corey, worried about Luke and Steve, and wondering if they would ever get 'their' Corey and Michael back. They have their doubts... and they aren't happy about it.

Luke and Steve come back pretty quickly, after taking care of some housekeeping duties I guess...

They're wearing just sandals, which the dads insisted on buying for all the boys while they were clothes shopping, and go in to 'help' in the kitchen. I'm sure there are a few kisses exchanged first, but mostly we keep hearing normal kitchen sounds.

They're in the kitchen for probably 30 minutes before we hear the ominous sound of boys approaching. They're all deep in conversation about something, and I'm pretty sure I hear Luke and Steve mentioned.

They go in and ask nicely when breakfast will be ready, are told by somebody in the kitchen about 15 minutes, so off they go... to the TV room. I looked last night, and I think they got the game console hooked to the TV. Never thought we'd have one of those... oh well.

The adults sit around trying to come up with something for the boys to do, other than be naked in the pool... That's not a bad thing, but surely there are better things they'd like to do, but thinking back to my own childhood, if I'd had a pool and seven other naked boys and six naked men in the back yard growing up, I know what I would have done every minute I could too.

There's a water park in Palm Springs, but I'm hesitant to mention taking eight boys there and trying to keep up with them. Maybe we should send Michael and Corey with the boys, that'll teach them... NO, NO, NO, Stop that.

Anyway, "BREAKFAST!" is yelled, and boys come running.

The adults all let the boys fill their plates before we go in... it's way too dangerous until all those knives and forks are aimed somewhere useful.

We do finally go in, fill our plates and head outside, and all the boys are having a good talk about anything and everything... It doesn't seem like any are pissed at Luke, Steve, Michael or Corey.

Of course, they're being fed by Michael and Corey, so the likely ones to get dumped on by the other boys are Luke and Steve. They're not quite as 'valuable' as Michael and Corey at the moment. But, at the moment, everything seems ok.

Various conversations are going on at the same time. Michael announces at some point that he and Corey are going grocery shopping, and to update their list for anything they want, which is on the whiteboard in the kitchen, at least until we can get the list moved to the boys' phones, which is a high priority.

Luke and Steve look at each other with a devious little smile, that I just happen to notice. Wouldn't surprise me if they want to go 'help' with the shopping. I wonder if it's occurred to them yet that they'll have to get dressed.

Everybody continues eating and chatting, and then Ken speaks up, "Guys... guys... thanks... I have a little news for everybody. Thanks to Alex, Kevin, Michael, and their boys, we're going to be staying here until we can move into our new house..."

That's all he gets out... There's pandemonium... I don't think I've ever written that word before, anywhere, but here it is.

All of the boys, including Luke and Steve, are hugging any boy brother they can get to... including 'big brothers'... and then they mob the dads... all of which takes a while to settle back down.

And of course everybody wants all the details, which Ken goes thru. He explains that they will occasionally have to go back home to get stuff they need, but that they will pretty much stay here for the entire time.

Kurt thinks for a second and says, "Is that why you had us bring so many clothes and stuff? We thought that was a lot for just a few days," and all the boys laugh... along with the adults. Nobody complains.

Okay, so that's decided, and we think it's a great decision too. It'll be way easier on the boys... all the boys.

About that time, Diego and Daniel bring up getting their laptop and the desktop computer set up. Steve says, "Oh, Yeah. I'm planning on doing that today, but I haven't set up things like Apple Family IDs... so I've got to read about how to do that."

Jared offers, "Steve, Corey is very good at computer things too. He used to do that for a living. He sets up all of our stuff," which gets a 'very interested' look from Steve to Corey, who after blushing a little says with a big smile, "Yeah, I can do that. I'd love to help... When do you want to do it?"

Steve's getting ready to answer when Luke says, "Uh... Steve, can I talk to you for a minute?" which gets a lot of interest from at least two of the dads, who can hardly wait to see what he's up to.

"Sure, come on, I'm taking my plate back to the dishwasher anyway, and then brushing my teeth," so off they both go.

Luke's a little nervous at what he's going to propose, and hesitates before saying, "Steve, please don't be mad. But... uhhh... I can go shopping with Michael if you want to stay and work with Corey. That way... maybe we'll be done sooner and can get in the pool faster... uhhh... is that OK?"

Now Steve's not dumb by any means, and he's more than a little suspicious of exactly why Luke, a boy that has NEVER wanted to go shopping in his life, wasn't even very interested in it when he would get a phone and iPad out of it, is suddenly so keen to go shopping... with... Michael.

Aaahhh... That explains it.

He asks, with a big smile, "Luke, is there any reason you're trying to separate Corey and me from you and Michael?"

Oh boy does Luke blush... He's been caught! Red handed and red faced! And he knows it. He looks down at the floor and thinks, "Now what... I can't tell him the truth. Can I?"

"Uhhhh... Steve, I just... uhhhh... thought that... it... uh..."

Steve isn't buying it, "Luke, we said we'll always be honest with each other. Are you trying to be alone with Michael?"

It doesn't help his 'I'm pissed' bluff that he breaks out laughing.

Luke's only response is, "Maaaybe?" with a big shit eating grin.

Steve wants to be at least a little pissed, but can't figure out how.

He says, "Luke, I trust you. I love you. If you want to be with Michael without me... sometimes... that's fine. Would you like to sleep with just Michael too... some, and do I get to sleep with just Corey? Some?"

Bigger eyes Luke has never had, and he's thinking, "Oh, fuck. Now what?"

Luke's really not sure if that's what he really wants... and is even surer he doesn't want to admit it, "Steve, I... don't know... I think so. Does that make you mad? Please don't be mad at me, I love you Steve. I promise."

Steve just hugs him and gives him a pretty ball-rocking kiss. After he's finished, he thinks for a few moments, and then says...

"Luke, I loved what we did together with Corey and Michael last night. I loved that we were both there... and shared it. I loved... really loved... watching you get fucked by Michael... and Luke, I felt... something amazing with you watching Corey making love to me... I really loved watching you sit on Corey's dick... and, I have to admit, I loved the peeing in the shower... I loved it all, Luke... Just like I love you.

"But... uh... there was a lot going on... sometimes it was hard to concentrate on just me and Corey. I thought a couple times too, it would be really nice to just spend the night with Corey... and Michael... separately."

Steve hesitates but continues, "Luke, it's like when me and you did something with Daniel and Diego... It was sooooo hot... I want to do that again... and... uh... maybe more. But, Luke, it's not the same as when it's just the two of us... I really love that time with you Luke.

"It's just us. We can talk. We can kiss. We can make love to each other, without worrying about too much stuff going on... I totally love you Luke... but, yes... I'd... uh... like to spend a night with them alone too... sometime," while almost sweating over what Luke might think."

Taking a deep breath Steve continues nervously,

"Please don't misunderstand, most of the time I want it to be just us, but... yeah... I would! Sorry! Please don't hate me Luke, we're both still trying to figure out what all this means... I'm not going to give you up Luke. I love you. If all this other stuff is going to cause a problem for us, then I don't want it. I just want you. Is that OK? Are you mad at me?"

Luke responds by giving his boyfriend a really good kiss. "Steve, I love you so much... and, NO, I'm not mad, it's all OK. Actually, it's great! So, is this ok? Please?"

"Yeah Luke, it's ok. But, tonight, please, I want US to be together. I want us to talk about all this stuff. OK?"

"Yeah, me too... I love you Steve. I really do!"

"I know, me too Luke."

So, teeth brushed, all peed out and talked out, they kiss and then go back.

They walk back in and Steve announces, with a really big smile, while looking at Corey, "Uh... Luke has a plan to... get things done... faster. Luke?" with a really big smile on his face, which totally puts Luke on the spot. Payback's a lot of fun!

After stuttering a bit, Luke says, "Corey, if you want to stay and help Steve with the computer stuff, Michael I can go with you to shop. How's that?"

Now, neither Michael nor Corey are stupid. They literally see right thru Luke's excuse, straight to his red face, which has a really big smile.

But, truth be told, they're only sorry they didn't come up with such a good plan... they still have to figure out what to do about four pissed off 'dads', but one potential disaster at a time.

Michael asks, "Luke, are you sure? You're going to have get dressed you know!" which gets a big laugh out of everybody.

But there's no way Luke is letting Michael out of his sight if he can help it, so "Yep, no problem. When are we going?"

Michael, chuckling, says, "OK. WE (pointing to him and Luke) have to clean up the kitchen a little, so come on! Can't sit around all day!" Luke walks over, Michael puts his hand on his shoulder, and leads him to the kitchen, with a bigger smile on Luke's face than will fit.

Steve and Corey just smile at each other, chuckle and shake their heads. Gotta' love Luke.

None of this is missed by four increasingly annoyed 'dads' who are not happy that their sons are taking their 'boyfriends' away from them.

And to think, they were worried the boys would freak out over them and Michael being together. Didn't go exactly like they thought it would. Well damn.

They all do what they need to do. The other boys are way less interested in Luke going with Michael, or Corey helping with the computer stuff, than they are in getting into the pool... they're all already naked. And they've all decided they really LOVE Palm Springs...

Michael and Luke have a great time in the kitchen alone, cleaning up, occasionally stealing a quick kiss, but actually working most of the time.

Corey goes with Steve after breakfast to collect both laptops, and get the new Mac Mini to set up, and there's some other software they want to get on the laptops and iPads and phones, thanks to Corey's suggestions.

Steve realizes immediately that he can learn so many different and exciting things from Corey, and he is very, very motivated to learn it all, to the very best of his abilities... no matter how long it takes. Perhaps at least as motivated as he's ever been over anything...

Luke and Michael go their separate ways to get dressed.

Michael knows this is a scheme by Luke, but damn it, he doesn't mind at all. He knows this whole situation is going to boil over unless everybody is really careful. He and Corey have to do something to appease their other lovers, but at the moment neither has a clue.

Steve and Corey

After they gather up what they need, they ask the 'dads' where the new desktop computer should be set up. They're rapidly running out of rooms, even before the extra seven houseguests.

Dad Alex suggests they set it up on the other side of the big common room seating area, near an old enclosed air conditioned sunroom that's attached to the house. There's a corner near the door to the sunroom, in a hall area, that has plenty of space for the computer. They even round up a table that can be used as a desk.

The sunroom overlooked the original pool and in-ground spa on the south side of the house.

When the dads bought and completely renovated and remodeled the house, they had a new pool built in the back yard and filled in the old pool, which was in pretty bad shape anyway. The entire south wall of the sunroom is glass, and it's a very pleasant place to sit and get some work done, looking out over the 'south lawn'.

Gawd that sounds so pretentious. Alex almost chuckles when he thinks about it.

But being on the south side of the house, it gets a lot of natural light... although it's the desert, and they don't really have that much 'lawn'. A little grassy area, but not much, mostly to save water, plus no need for a big lawn, especially since they spend all of their time in the backyard with the pool, spa and sitting area... and margarita machine.

Alex had thought about setting it up on one side of the home office, but decided he doesn't want that distraction, when the boys would be working and talking about stuff. If this doesn't work, they can always move it... somewhere...

Steve immediately decides he loves Luke's suggestion.

They make quick work of setting up the desktop computer. Probably would have gone a little faster if they hadn't taken a kiss break while they were crawling around under the desk to run all the wires.

They even discuss it a bit later, and they're all honestly happy about how things are going... well, except for the whole 'taking our boyfriends away from us' thing.

The dads all know this is a rite of passage for young people in general, and gay boys especially... and all the dads are very happy that the boys are comfortable enough with them to be able to discuss things with them... like 'getting fucked'. They know most almost-teens would never do that with a parent. And they certainly remember how embarrassed the boys were on the plane back when they raised the issue of sex.

But mostly Steve and Corey just work and chat, and Steve is really impressed with all the computer stuff that Corey knows. He definitely will have to spend a LOT of time with him to learn it all. :-)

Corey is just as impressed with Steve. Given his age and circumstances, Steve really does know a lot about technical things.

Michael and Luke

Shopping

Michael isn't sure how to approach the whole subject with Luke, so he just goes for honesty... when all else fails and he can't come up with any other choice.

As they are getting into Michael's smaller SUV, which he prefers driving since he's more used to it, Michael is wondering if Steve is really ok with this plan.

He asks, "Luke, are you sure this is ok? I love having you with me, but is Steve really ok with this?"

Luke, knowing he promised to be honest, says, "He thought it was a great idea, too. This way we can both be done earlier, and get in the pool. And, uhh... besides... he wants to spend some time with Corey. Is that... uh... ok?"

Michael, unsure what to say, stares at Luke a few seconds and decides on, "Luke, I trust you. I trust Steve. I trust Corey... but, we all have to be careful. I heard the dads make a comment about how little time Corey and I are spending with them. I think they're pretty unhappy at the moment.

"Luke, we really do love you guys. Really... I promise. But, right now, everything is changing for you guys, and for Corey and Me, which means it's changing for the 'dads' too... we have to keep everybody happy."

Luke thinks about what the dads said about being happy for Michael and Corey and says, "Michael, they all said they were really happy for you and Corey. They all said they wouldn't keep you from being boyfriends. How can they be mad about it now?"

Michael, laughing a little sadly, says, "Yeah... it's hard Luke. They know it's the right thing to do, but that doesn't always make it easy. Luke, let me ask you something... What exactly did you and Steve say about spending time with Corey and Me?"

Luke's a little panicked. He can't tell the whole truth, can he? Shit.

He decides he promised, so, "Steve... said... he would like to spend some time alone with Corey... like, sleep together, just the two of them. And, Michael... I would too... with YOU I mean."

Michael asks, worried, "How does that make you feel Luke? Is this causing a problem between you and Steve? Please be honest."

Luke thinks for a while and says, "No... I don't think so. I really want some time with just you... Corey too, later, maybe. I was really afraid to bring it up to Steve, but he just laughed and said he did too. He wasn't mad, I asked him.

"I can't explain it Michael... I love you, but I love Steve, and Corey... I know we're too young to really be 'boyfriends' or something, but I really do feel about you and Corey... kinda like... I feel about Steve... especially you. Is that ok?"

Michael reaches over and rubs Luke head (big one. mind. gutter. out). He looks over and sees a tear in Luke's eyes... "I get it Luke. I feel the same way about you and Steve. I feel the same about Corey... and your dads, Luke. I do get it. It's complicated and hard and we have to be really careful or somebody is going to get hurt... a lot!"

Luke, kinda dejected, says, "I know. Why does this have to be so hard?"

"It's about how people feel Luke. It's complicated. We have to be careful. Corey and I don't ever want to hurt you and Steve... or any of the dads either. We really have to be honest with each other... Are you and Steve sleeping together tonight, like Steve asked?"

"Yeah, he said that again, when I asked about going with you... he said he just wants us to talk."

"Ok, Luke. Please, both of you, let us know if there is any problem, ok? Your dads are already worried about all this. We don't want to make them madder at us, do we?"

"NO," is all Luke says, while looking pretty dejected.

Corey and Steve

Turns out the dads hunch was right about Steve.

He really does like computers and technology, and he's very good at it. Corey is really impressed with how much he already knows, especially given his age and lack of chances to do anything at all since ending up in a group home.

Turns out that Corey is really good at teaching too. Steve is amazed at not just how much Corey knows, but how he explains everything so he understands it so well.

They get the desktop computer set up very quickly, which is good because several of the boys want to figure out how to use it.

Both families, fortunately, use iPhones and iPads and each has a Macintosh computer, among others, but Steve is the only one who ever got to use a computer or iPad at all, at least of our four. So at least three of our boys are going to start from scratch with everything.

Corey, mostly, and Steve spend a few minutes showing how to use the family login information to get into the desktop. You can set up separate IDs on Macs, but they felt it would be a little overkill to set up a separate account for each of the boys on the computer.

They'll each have their own iPad and phone, so they can just share this computer. And it's not like they'll hide their porn watching from the others anyway, now is it. They'll probably do that on their laptops or iPads anyway.

The biggest thing Steve and Corey discover is that they really like being with each other, even if it doesn't help the current situation. They also figure out it gives them a lot of time to sit side by side, very close, and a good excuse to spend more time together. And best of all, it all just feels... normal... again.

The dads occasionally pass by and notice just how well Steve and Corey are getting along. They're glad... mostly.

Corey and Steve get everything set up, and take a few of the iPads and phones with them to Steve and Luke's room to finish setting up things.

They only have one chair in their bedroom, so they both end up sprawled out on their bed, naked, sitting side by side, usually pressed up against each other... and more than one kiss is had.

Michael and Luke

Michael and Luke go shopping... and they have the best time with each other that either can remember in a long time. They have no trouble at all finding things to talk about... well, other than sex. Michael had tried to avoid that... until... back in the car,

"Luke, can I ask you about something... that little 'peeing' thing in the shower. Have you and Steve done that before?"

Luke panics and immediately goes beet red...

Michael sees, reaches over and rubs his leg, above the knee, and adds, "Luke, it's not a problem... I enjoyed it. A lot... actually. I just hope you did too."

That's all the encouragement Luke needs, "YES, I loved it. Steve and I do that... a lot, but... uh... I really like it. I'm sorry... Steve gave me a really dirty look, when he figured out I wanted to do that... uh... with you."

Michael laughs... "Does Steve enjoy it as much as you do? I think Corey is ok with it... he actually seemed like he really enjoyed it, but... we haven't had much time to talk... yet," with a laugh.

Of course, Michael doesn't feel like he can tell Luke that Corey peed on him too, in the shower the second night they were together... and that Michael did the same thing to Corey after that.

"You mean without us, don't you," Luke wants to know, a little dejected.

Chuckling Michael says, "Yes Luke, I do... But it's not a problem, I promise. It's just been really busy. Luke, I really enjoyed that with you... maybe we can do that... uh... sometime, if it's just the two of us. Hell, I enjoyed everything with you... both of you Luke. It was the most amazing thing I've ever done. I really hope it was good for both of you... and didn't cause any problems."

Luke very excitedly says, "Yeah, it was... me too Michael... It was great for me, and it didn't cause any problems. I really did like that with you... Steve's ok with it, but I don't think he enjoys it as much as I do."

"Trust me Luke, it's not a problem... as long as Steve doesn't mind if we do it. I hope he doesn't."

Luke adds, "Yeah, me either," a little worried.

Michael asks, "Luke, who came up with your little sex plan? That was very good, by the way!"

Luke says with a big smile, "Steve and I both did... we thought if we fucked you first, you wouldn't freak out about both of you fucking us. Did it work?" with a really big smile.

"Apparently, you both got fucked, didn't you? (big laugh) Can I ask you about that? You didn't have any problem with me fucking you at all... and I'm not exactly small. Corey either... Do you and Steve do that a lot?"

Luke turns red again, but says, "Michael, I love you. And, yes, I really like getting fucked. We both do, but especially me... I think. I want you to fuck me... long and slow... or deep and hard... when it's just the two of us. I want you to fuck me and stretch me. We used to have a shampoo bottle that we used to stretch each other with, but must have left it at the Group Home," which gets a huge laugh out of Michael... and a few evil thoughts... that'll he'll have to talk to either the dads or Corey about.

"I loved kissing you while you were fucking me, Michael. I really loved that... just being held by you... and looking into your eyes. I felt so safe and loved Michael," now with a few tears.

Luke's confession jolts Michael a bit. He had never thought about it making him feel 'safe'. He should have, after all these boys have been thru...

Deep in thought about that, he just says, "So did I Luke... way more than I should have," without explaining.

They spend a couple hours shopping before they finally finish up... a few shoppers along the way notice the two of them and wonder why all 'big brothers' can't be that loving and caring with their younger brothers.

Although they're kinda exact opposites as far as looks go. Michael obviously has very dark eyes and hair, and Luke is very blonde haired and blue eyed, but they acted so much like brothers it's just what people assumed.

Several people who saw them thought that way too many older brothers do everything they can to avoid ever being around their younger brothers... These two are proof that brothers can love each other.

If they only knew how right they are.

I Just Love Palm Springs

One of the most 'Palm Springs moments' in quite a while happens in Smart and Final.

Michael wants to run by there as the last stop to get several things that they use a lot of, especially now with all the boys.

They sell a big container of potato salad that they've always loved, and the boys seem to love it just as much. Other stuff too... like pre-made hamburger patties... they always do a better job than we do ourselves, plus less chance of Luke throwing up if he doesn't see dead cow patties being made in front of him.

They get their dozen items or so and go up to the checkout counters, with Luke pushing the shopping cart.

Luke picks the shortest line and pushes his cart up just as Michael notices that the person putting his items on the checkout counter is an older man wearing women's clothes. He doesn't try to pass as a woman, but he's wearing a dress, carrying a purse... and doesn't even have a wig on, but he does have kinda long blondish hair.

Michael has seen him in here several times before, and had a short but nice conversation with him one day about nothing in particular... how hot it was or something. He seemed very nice, but he isn't sure how Luke will react.

But before Michael can say anything, Luke notices that he's trying to get something pretty heavy out of his cart.

Luke marches right up and says, "Hi... I'm Luke. Can I help with that... it looks heavy," for which the man thanks him and Luke picks up the item and puts it up on the counter.

The man introduces himself as Max and thanks Luke. He then notices Michael, in that oh so subtle way that gay men notice really nice looking men, realizes they've spoken before and says,

"Hi... I know we've met before, but sorry, I don't remember your name."

Michael reaches out to shake his hand, now that people can do that again after COVID, and says, "Hi Max. I'm Michael. Yeah, we've spoken one or twice... in here. How are you?"

They chat for just a bit... about nothing in particular.

Max obviously doesn't remember seeing Luke before and asks, "Can I ask, are you guys brothers?"

Which makes Luke smile really big and say, "Yeah, we are brothers... our dads and Michael adopted my three brothers and me... and we got back to Palm Springs... Monday," which startles Max and the checker... I guess that he's so matter of fact about it.

Max is a little taken aback and asks, "You have three other brothers plus Michael. That's a big family. Your dads are brave men," which gets a laugh out of all of them, including the checker.

Luke, being Luke, says, "We're all really lucky... we love our dads and Michael so much... and Palm Springs. How long have you lived here?"

Max explains how he and his partner moved to Palm Springs almost ten years earlier from San Francisco, and how much they loved it... and then he adds sadly, "Unfortunately my husband died about two years ago," which causes Luke to immediately tear up.

Luke manages to say, "I'm... sorry... I know that's really hard," and then can't really say anything else.

Max thanks him and says it's lonely, but that he's getting used to it.

The checker finishes with all his items and Max starts to bag his items in the bags he brought, and Luke just goes around him and starts helping... like there's absolutely nothing out of the ordinary.

After everything's in the cart, Luke looks for the world like he's going to hug him... but doesn't. They chat a bit more and exchange 'goodbyes' and he heads out the door.

Michael and the checker are both just standing there looking at Luke with a big smile.

The checker just looks at Michael with a big smile and shakes her head a little, not in a bad way... just kinda in a 'gotta love Palm Springs' way.

They go out and load their stuff into the already pretty full car, and get in to start for home.

But before they start for home, Michael is sitting and having a lively debate in his own head about what if anything he should say to Luke about that encounter with Max.

He was afraid Luke would be freaked out... or say something he shouldn't. But it never even occurred to him that it would be a total non-event.

Michael starts up the car and nervously asks, "Uhhh... Luke, what did you think of Max?"

Luke looks at him, again with red eyes and says, "It must be so hard for him to lose his husband... I hope he's going to be ok. I... don't think I will... ever be ok if I lose you or Steve, or our dads or brothers," with tears.

Michael immediately regrets asking. He just reaches over and pulls Luke tight for a long hug and says, "I know... me too... any of you," being afraid to try to say anything else.

On the ride home, they have the quietest time together that they've ever had... nobody seems to want to say anything.

Michael and Luke eventually get home and start bringing in stuff they had bought.

The boys hear the driveway sensor and know they're home, and the ones not in the pool come out to help... all naked... well, most are wearing shoes or sandals. The dads insisted they buy sandals, because the ground and concrete gets so hot in the summer it can burn their feet.

They've discovered they run outside naked enough times, most have started leaving shoes or sandals near the door that they can slip on easily.

They get everything in quickly, and the boys take over putting things away... Looking around, Luke wonders where Steve and Corey are...

He and Michael go down to their room and find the two of them reclining on the bed with a couple iPads, talking, kinda curled around each other.

Luke and Michael are both surprised at how comfortable Steve and Corey look, lying on the bed curled up together... but neither of them have any problem with it... in fact, if anything, they wish the room had a bigger bed. They go over and sit on the end of the bed, with Corey and Steve.

Corey and Steve ask how their shopping trip went. Michael and Luke both tell them how much fun they had. Neither mentions meeting Max.

After Michael asks, Corey and Steve say they had a great time too and got a lot done... One brother was on the desktop computer when they came thru.

Luke asks if they're all ready to hit the swimming pool... they both say, 'yes'.

Luke and Michael just get up and strip where they're standing, throwing their clothes on the one chair in the room, Corey and Steve come over and hug and kiss them both, and they all head to the pool to join the other boys.

Steve takes Corey's hand, which does not go unnoticed by Michael or Luke, and says to everybody, "Come On. Last one in..."

Luke and Michael look at each other, smile big, and Luke takes Michael's hand and they all take off running... well, walking really fast.

Who is holding who's hand also doesn't go unnoticed by four 'dads' either.

The dads had set up the margarita machine again... and all the boys have a non-alcoholic frozen drink when they want it. The dads are enjoying their margaritas.

And, at least for the moment, all is peaceful in this secluded little corner of gay Palm Springs.

Let's hope it stays that way.

All four of them get in the pool, and all the boys immediately mob Corey and Michael. They all have a rousing game of grab ass, which nobody seems to hate. None of the boys are brave enough yet to grab anything in front, but they all think about it... more than once.

They've all talked about how Luke and Steve get to sleep with Michael and Corey. None of them are mad at Luke and Steve, but they're all trying to figure out how they can do the same thing with them. They all decide they're going to have to get a little more pushy... like Luke... but none of them blame Luke or Steve... yet.

Luke immediately notices how close Daniel and Diego are sticking to Aiden, who seems to be just as attached to them. He smiles a bit to himself.

Once Michael can get Corey a little away from the grabbing boys he says that they should probably do a little damage control with the 'dads'. Corey agrees. Now, all they need is a plan.

Michael has the beginnings of one... if it doesn't backfire and blow them all to hell. It's a long-term plan to get all of them to spend more time together, but he has no idea how to get away from Luke and Steve long enough to do it.

They both grab a margarita and go over to where the dads are sitting.

Kevin asks how their shopping trip went.

Michael tells them what they did and that everything was great... even mentioning how much fun it was shopping with Luke.

He debates for a long while but eventually explains what happened at Smart and Final with Max... All the dads chuckle and are just sitting amazed that Luke didn't say anything... at all.

Michael also tells them what Luke said later, when he asked Luke about it in the car.

His comment about losing Steve, his dads or brothers hits a very raw spot with all of them, and nobody know what to say about it.

So they don't.
