Chapter 5

Vertical

 

 

"I was fucking attacked!"

Dore put her hand back on my chest, "Hold still...this isn't going to work unless you are completely still."

The three graces were in the room plus 1. The extra one was Massie. We had taken out the usual masseuse room and closed it down to the public. Dore had lit a bunch of candles. They had formed a rock circle around me.

"This is stupid," I said...

"What's stupid is you taking a drink from a Ferris witch doctor," Massie stated shaking her head, "What were all of you thinking?"
"Blame him mom," Micki stated.

 

She was the furthest away from me. She was sitting in a rocking chair filing her nails. She didn't seem even the slightest bit concerned with what what was going on.

"Blame me why?" I asked.

"I told you to get him away...not to get drunk with him," Micki stated.

She was such a uppity bitch. She was throwing me under the bus in front of her mother. What she didn't know is that I didn't give a fuck about impressing her mother. Her mother reminded me way too much of my own mother and that was something I wanted to avoid.

"I was trying to get him away," I stated.

"It didn't work," Shi Shi stated, "I had them check the the records today...he's booked an extended stay room on the third floor."

I almost jumped out of my skin, "WHAT!"

I hadn't scared Orion Ferris off. I not only had not scared him off but he had actually checked into one of the extended stay rooms that we had here. This guy was playing hardcore. He had just fucking poisoned me and now he was staying at my hotel.
"Stop moving," Dore said, "I need more incense."
Shi Shi walked around me with her burning incense. She tapped the stuff all over in my face. I could feel it filling up my lungs. It felt disgusting. I had been throwing up hours now and passing up. Finally I had to go to Massie for help. Almost immediately she told the three Graces. This led me here to this embarrassment moment where I was begging for their help.

I felt like the biggest failure.

"What are you guys doing to me?" I asked.

"Cleansing you with a cleansing spell. You were given a powerful potion," Dore stated.

"He was trying to kill him like he did you the other Exodus," Massie stated.

Micki shook her head, "Mom stop being dramatic..."

I started to panick at what Massie was saying. I knew Massie had a flair for being dramatic at times but hell this did make sense. "He was trying to kill me?"

"No," Dore stated, "This isn't no where near as serious. From what I can tell it was a temporary thing."
"Why the fuck would he poison me temporarily."

"A warning..."

The last word had come from Micki. She had finally got up off her chair and moved over to where I was on the floor.

"What?"
"He's trying to show you that he knows a thing or two as well. Come on girls form a circle. Let's get this over with."
"What are you doing?"

"Relax..." Dore said.

I couldn't relax but I stayed still. I watched as Dore, Micki and Shi Shi surrounded me kneeling at my head and my two sides. When they encircled me and the stones they started chanting. I had no idea what they were chanting. They were doing it so low.

It was fucking weird and creepy actually to see them all chanting like this. Massie just watched from in back of them. She wasn't really saying much.

It was five minutes of chanting but almost immediately I felt better.

I wasn't no where near as nauceous.

' "It should be all gone," Dore stated.

Micki got up, "Good I don't have time for this stupidity. Genesis you had your turn. Now it's our turn. Shi Shi...are you coming?"

Shi Shi got up after Micki like a dog to it's owner.

"What are you going to do?"

"Don't worry about it too much you might start throwing up again," Micki snapped a little bit.

I felt so embarrassed as she took her little dig at me. This had to be the most embarrassing 24 hours of my whole life. God knows what the hell Micki and Shi Shi were up to.

Massie looked over at me when they left, "That boy is dangerous. You should have stayed away from him."
"I could have handled him myself," I said.

"No you can't. Your brother could have. He was raised around magic like that," Massie said, "You were kept away."

It felt like everyone was taking shots at me now...even Massie. The little respect that I had seemed to all be gone by now. They were all looking down on me now literally and figuratively. It was almost like me getting sick had just put Micki right back in charge. I was nothing more of someone else underneath Micki now.
It pissed me off.

"What are Micki and Shi Shi going to do?"

Dore shrugged, "God help that boy. That's all I'm going to say."

Massie shook her head, "Don't brush him off so quickly. He killed Exodus and got Genesis bed ridden single-handedly."

"I'm still here---" I stated.

It didn't matter. They didn't have any respect for me left.

"We aren't sure if he killed Exodus," Dore stated.

I shook my head, "Are you kidding me? He poisoned me..."

"He didn't poison you. He gave you a potion. He could have very easily poisoned you though. You could be dead right now. The question that bothers me is why not?"

What a disappointment huh?

She looked so serious as though she was stuck in thought. It was then that I knew Dore was smart as fuck. She did kind of have a point. If he wanted to kill me then what didn't he? He had snuck something in my drink. He could have definitely snuck in poison. Why warn me? He knew damn well now I would be smarter than to just drink anything.

"I'm going to ask Old Lady what she thinks about all this," Massie stated.

"She doesn't talk," I stated.

I remembered the Old Lady. She just sat there staring out there...aging...

"She might...you never know," Massie stated.

I wasn't sure what kind of mindstate that was but then again I had to remember I was talking to Massie. She didn't have any magic in her at all. The only thing she really could do was go talk to Old Lady and see what Old Lady had to say.

Massie walked out of the room leaving just Dore and I.

Good...this is what I wanted.

Dore was cleaning up as I sat up. I felt a lot better. I wasn't dizzy any more at all.

"How did you guys learn to do that?" I asked.

"I can show you," she stated, "You share and I share. Wasn't that the deal I was offering you? I'm still waiting for you to take it."
I had nothing to share Dore. She had her smart little smirk. She had spent a long time being outstaged by Micki but I could tell Dore was really kind of smart. She was also really kind of willful. The more I thoughta bout it the more I actually started not minding Dore..

Maybe I was starting to like her personality.

"Whatever you did worked," I said.

"Of course. You had dark spirits in you. We had to call them out. We called them out...right through their pores."
Fuck I wanted to know what they were chanting so badly. How the fuck were the able to get that sickness out of my body so quickly.

I shook my head.

"Listen, do you know anything I can give someone to make them forget."

"Like magic?"

"Yeah."

"Can't you just look at someone and tell them to forget something?" she asked.

I shrugged, "I don't want to use it on this person."

"You don't want to use your magic on Jakoby but you want me to use mine? No deal. Plus there's nothing I can do like that anyway. That's not how our magic works."

"How did you know I was talking about Jakoby?"

Fuck I was trying to be secretive about it. Dore had packed up all the incense and was putting it in her boxes by the time I was asking her this. I looked over at her and shook my head. It was so weird that she knew exactly what I was talking about.

"He's been worried sick about you. It was hard for us to get you alone to even do the spell. What's going on between you two?"
"He's not gay," I said shaking my head.

"Does it matter with you?"

"I'll never use any of my abilities on him," I stated shaking my head, "We are just friends."
"You should be careful with him," she stated, "His world and our world...they don't mix. If you know what I mean. There are people who would just love to know someone that they can take out all their frustrations with you on....if you know what I mean..."

"You are talking about Micki aren't you?"

She made a funny little face.

"No names."

"But what if its more than just friends," I stated, "Would you risk it?"

She raised an eyebrow.

I couldn't believe I was actually talking to Dore about this. This was...this was fucking personal actually. This was really personal actually.

"If it's more than just friends...if its love, then he would risk it. And it wouldn't even be in your hands," she stated.

He would risk it.

The more I thought about it the more I just thought about him. I had broke down and told him how I felt about him yesterday. I don't know how I could do that.

 

 

I spent the day in the room really relaxing and trying to get my thoughts together. The more I thought about it though the more I really just wanted to see Jakoby. I had thrown up on the kid. He probably was disgusted with me.

I found myself coming out in the afternoon to the resort. I had a on a bathrobe. I felt as bad as I looked. Before I knew it I was downstairs staring at the guy. When it made it to the front the group of boys who always stood out there immediately were at high attention.

Two of them even came out from behind the desk to greet me.

"Mr. Bah," one of them said, "How are you?"

The other one was quick behind, "We heard that you were sick."
I smiled. These guys were cute as fuck. All the guys at the front desk were just fucking sexy. God bless whoever hired them.

I nodded shyly, "Have you seen Jakoby?"

If I didn't have a crush on Jakoby the things I'd do with them was something that people would PAY to watch. I had to keep my mind on the goal though. Jakoby made me feel a whole lot different. He made me feel like maybe I didn't need attention from all these guys. Maybe Jakoby could be enough for me. 1 man...

"He's around," the one guy said, "I can help you though. You need any help?"

They probably heard how I had promoted Jakoby so quickly. They were here kissing my ass.

"I'm right here."

I turned around to see Jakoby. He had on his little work suit. He was fucking adorable. I couldn't help but to smile.

"Hey Jakoby."

He smiled back and was looking through paperwork, "You should be resting Mr. Bah...what are you doing down here."
Mr. Bah?
I shook my head, "Listen can we talk?"

"I have a meeting with some partners of ours. Remember you were out so you couldn't make it. I've been filling in."

"I appreciate it. I do...it's just..." I looked over at the guys at the front desk...they were listening.

I pulled him away a little bit so that we could have more privacy. Even though I know they couldn't hear us now it was clear that the front desk guys were still trying to read our lips or something. I turned my back towards them so they couldn't see my lips.

"I wanted to talk about when I was sick," I stated, "I wanted to thank you."

"I'm your best friend. That's what friends do," Jakoby said, "No big deal. We'll get up later ok, let me head to this meeting."

I grabbed his arm and pulled him back.

Fuck did I look desperate?

"No...its more," I stated and smiled to act calm a little bit, "I wanted to talk about what I said."

He shrugged.

He was not giving me eye contact like he usually did. Was Jakoby avoiding me?

"You weren't in my right mind," he stated, "I won't hold your crazy talk against you haha."

My face tensed up a little bit.

"Jakoby...it wasn't crazy talk. I have feelings for you..."

He sighed.

This looked like what he was trying to avoid or something. I could almost feel this huge distance between us that I never felt. We were side by side but it feel like an ocean was in between us.

There was this huge connect.

"Me and you are...friends...best friends. Did you think that through?" he asked shaking his head, "There are million of reasons why that is a horrible idea and not one good reason that it is a good idea."

He shut me down.

I had almost sworn there was chemistry there. I had never felt that chemistry before. I had sex with a LOT of people and never felt that chemistry.

"Oh...ok..."

I turned and immediately he pulled me back.

"Gene..."

"I'm good. You had a meeting right," I said.

I was red. I was embarrassed as fuck. I could have SWORN there was a connection there. Did I really imagine that thing? That was a long way to imagine though. I just kept thinking about how he looked at me. I kept thinking about how when I had my head down he lowered his head to meet my eyes. He had almost tried to look INTO me.

I couldn't believe I imagined all of that.
"Gene, don't be like this. What did you think I would have said? Come on..."

What did I think he would have said?

"I just got a crazy imagination," I stated.

I walked away at that moment and headed outside to the front of the resort. He let me walk away and this time didn't stop me. I could feel him staring at my back. I couldn't believe I was so distraught over this. Fuck.

 

 

I stood outside near the outdoor garden of the resort. I had this darkness all inside of me that I couldn't really even think about. All I knew was that I had allowed myself to get this weak. I had allowed myself to feel so stupid.

That was when I saw him...

Orion...

Fuck. I started moving fast.

Orion was dressed in all black as usual and he looked like he was on a mission. He had this weird look in his eye. He just came out of the resort. He looked around while the valet pulled up his bike. He didn't see me though.

As soon as the valet pulled up his bike I ran to the valet.

I looked the valet guy in his eyes.

I coerced him.

"Tell me your name."

"Timmy," he said immediately under my spell.

"Timmy, get in the next car that pulls up for you to park and follow the guy on the bike. I want you to tell me exactly what he does. Do you hear me? Find me no matter where I am and tell me where he is heading and doing. Don't let him know you are following him."

 

Timmy did as I said.

 

"That's how you do it...huh..."

I turned to see someone had been watching me. I almost jumped back when I saw Shi Shi's boyfriend standing there. He had his arms crossed. His name was something like Bobby or something. He was the guy that almost beat my ass.

"How long have you been standing there?" I asked him.

"Long enough to see what you did to that guy..." he stated.

Had he been following me? He had this look in his eyes. It was kind of creepy really. He was just like focusing on me. Bobby was muscular guy. I remembered how he had dropped the fat guy at the funeral. A part of me wanted to call security or something when I saw him standing there. I didn't though I just looked at him.

"Forget what you saw here and leave me alone," I stated looking at him deep, trying to cast my spell, "Forget me."

"Your trick doesn't work on me anymore..."
Fuck.

I kind of knew that. It rarely worked on someone more than once. I had expected him to fully resist it especially now that he knew to expect it. It was almost like he blew off my influence all together. Fuck.

"What are you?" he asked.

"I don't know what you are talking about."

"I wonder what your employees will say when they find out you are some kind of demon. I wonder what Shi Shi will say. Word will sure spread like wild fire around this island," he stated, "Demon..."

Demon?

"I'm not a fucking a demon," I said.

"I saw how you do it," he said, "I can tell people."

Shit...him telling people would make people suspicious of me. The more suspicious of me they were the harder it would be to actually use the coercion. I looked at him.

"What is your angle? What do you want? An apology? I'm sorry for making you show me your dick."

"I don't want an apology from a demon."

I laughed.

The idea of him calling me a demon was tickling the fuck out of me to be honest. It was such a random thing to say. I shook my head and smiled a little bit.

"So what Bobby? You going to out me...you may want to be careful," I stated, "I can do other things...worse things."

He squinted his eyes looking up at me.

"What's going on here?" Shi Shi asked walking up.

I hadn't seen her coming. I was sick of people coming out of no where lately. Shi Shi had popped up like some sort of shadow or something. She was walking with Dore. I gave Bobby a hard look. He had no idea that whatever I was HIS girlfriend was as well.

I had to bluff. I didn't know how to do a fucking thing else besides coercion.

"I was just meeting your boyfriend properly," I stated.

Shi Shi gave me this look that said she didn't believe a fucking word I was saying. She put her boyfriend.

"Go wait for me inside baby..." she stated.

He turned around and walked inside. She controlled him with no spell necessary. I guess that was real power. The look she gave me when he left made me wonder who out of her and Micki hated me the most. The look in her eyes right now was making me think that it was actually Shi Shi that hated me the most. Dore had that out of place look again.

"He's straight."

I almost spit up at her as a laughed. What was more serious was how hard she looked.

"I don't want your boyfriend," I stated.

"So you didn't coerce him and make him show you his dick? He just made that up out of thin air."
Well I did kind of do that...

"Look I didn't know he was your boyfriend at the time."

"Like you care. You are a fucking slut!" Shi Shi said.

Shi Shi stepped forward and even gave me a little push. All this from me just talking to her boyfriend? Really? Dore even got in between us.

"Shi Shi...relax..."

"No!"

"Yes little girl," I said shaking my head, "I'm still your fucking boss. You remember that. Next time you say that you'll find yourself looking for a job. And before you say it I don't give a FUCK what your last name is. Atwood or fucking Boo-Boo the fool."

Her face got real stern.

"Enjoy your time on top...while it lasts," she said and laughed a little bit.

"What does that mean?"

She continued laughing in this annoying way and walked away from me. I couldn't believe that bitch confronted me like that. I could have fucked her boyfriend if I wanted to. A part of me was wishing my spell still worked so that I could do it.

As she walked away I looked over at Dore.

"What the hell did she mean by that? Did that bitch just threaten me?"

She sounded like she had something planned.

"Who knows?" Dore shrugged, "You just love making friends since you came back to the Island huh?"

She had started with me. I could feel my heart getting heavy as fuck. Damn I was pissed.

"If you knew they had something planned would you tell me?" I asked.

"Something planned like what?"

"Anything Dore. Don't play dumb."

She nodded and took steps forward, "I'm sick of Micki running things. You can look me in my eyes and tell but I have no power by myself. I need her and I need Shi Shi. If me and you learned from one another we can pull those girls in..."

She had a point.

I sighed heavily realizing the valet guy was coming back.

"We'll talk about it later."

"You are avoiding it again," she said.

"This is important. I'll meet you though...tomorrow."

I walked down to the valet and looked in. Timmy was there. When he looked at me I could tell he was still under my spell.

"Where is he?"
"He's having lunch with someone...they look like they are trying to be secretive."

"Where?"

"Two blocks away."

Strange. Shi Shi's restaurant was great. Who was Orion meeting two blocks away?

`Take me to him."

I got in the car and closed the door behind me. There was no way I was going to let Micki outdo me. I was going to deal with Orion myself. The first way that I was going to do that was find out more about him. Who did he know on the island?

He said his ex stayed here. Was he for real?

I finally had an idea. He wanted to get back with his ex. If it was who he was meeting then maybe I could use his ex against him.

His ex was probably a normal. I could control his ex even if I couldn't control Orion. This would be interesting. We pulled up in the car at a little restaurant.

"They are here...at a table in the back."

"Take the car back and forget what I made you do," I told Timmy.

The little restaurant seemed to be tucked away in a corner. It was definitely a private little hole in the wall. It's the type of place you went to be alone with someone. I got out of the car and made my way into the hole in the wall. As I walked in the host tried to talk to me.

"I'm just meeting up with a few friends," I stated.

The restaurant was pretty darkly lit. It looked kind of romantic in there. They were even playing slow music and stuff. I had to admit it was romantic. Orion had taste. The girl had to definitely be someone special. A part of me was kind of jealous of her. Orion was an attractive guy. He was hell of sexy and he could definitely get it if the Ferris family weren't my archenemies. Even though they were I had to admit how fucking sexy he was...

The way he looked at me too turned me on. That was all while he was poisoning me though.

I made my way to the back of the place and saw Orion sitting there. He had his hand over someone. They looked really close.
