In 1970, the most dangerous STDs were Syphilis and Gonorrhea, which could be cured by penicillin, or the new antibiotics. Condoms were not needed for gay sex, thus unprotected sex was common practice. Please send a contribution to NIFTY to keep this site up and free. Tom was very successful as a photographer. He had a good eye, and captured the soul of those he photographed. He and Jefferson were still together! Jefferson handled the business end, while Tom handled the Artistic side of the business. They were doing very well, financially. They purchased the building the studio was in; and, when it became unoccupied, they moved into the apartment above the studio. The front of the establishment was like an art gallery, with large prints of Tom's portraits on the walls with individual lights on each one. There was a counter halfway back. Behind the counter were 4 doors. The doors were labeled: Lounge, Studio, Lab. and Changing Room! Tom did his own developing and had a projection enlarger for extra large prints. He had extra large trays for the various chemicals. They purchased chemicals and photo paper from a company in California. After they had been in business for several years, they decided to go on a vacation/business trip to the Company in California. As they would be seeing their supplier, it was a business trip. Thus it was tax deductible. They would rent a car and see the national parks. They would drive out on the Northern Route, stop off to see Daniel. Drive up to Yellowstone, continue to the west coast, and down to southern California, then go back to New York by way of the southern route. They allowed a full month for the trip! As they were still exchanging holiday cards, they knew Daniel's address. They drove to his nearby town and went to the Post Office. They got driving instructions to Daniel's Farm, and drove there. They parked in front of the Victorian Farmhouse, got out of the car, and went to the house. Tom knocked on the front door. The door was opened by a small boy. Jefferson said: "We are looking for Daniel Nutley. The small boy answered: "Daddy is out in the field. He will be back in a few minutes. Would you like to wait for him inside? Come in and you can get some coffee." A "look" passed between Tom and Jefferson. They followed the young boy into the house and into the kitchen. The kitchen was ruled over by a formidable Lady. Jefferson said: "We are looking for Daniel. We knew him in Vietnam! I am Jefferson and this is Tom." She came over to them and said: "I'm Dorthy, Daniel's wife. Daniel will be back in a few minutes. Can I get you some coffee while you wait?" Tom was speechless so Jefferson said: "That will be nice." he and Tom sat down. At the table was another boy and a girl in a high chair. Dorthy got fresh cups of coffee as another look of disbelief passed between Tom and Jefferson. They sat there and drank. A few minutes later, the back door opened and Daniel and Richard came in. With a look of disbelief, Daniel shouted: "Jeff." He crossed the room and hugged Jeff. There followed the usual masculine back slapping! Daniel looked over Jeff's shoulder and said: "Hello Tom." At that point Dorothy said: "Why don't you go into the living room and talk." Tom, Daniel, Jefferson and Richard went into the living room and all sat down, Daniel began talking: "This is my man Richard." Jefferson commented: "A wife, three kids, and a man. Somebody has been very busy." Daniel said: "It's a marriage of convenience. Dorthy wanted a farm and babies; I needed a cover for my relationship with Richard. Steve is my son, Mark is Richard's son and we don't know who Amelia 's father is. We don't care, we both love her and she is so much like her mother, she doesn't look like either of us." They continued to talk, rehashing old times. Tom was a city boy, and had never been on a farm. Daniel offered to show him around. So Daniel, Richard and Tom went out. Since Jefferson was from upstate New York, he knew what a farm was like. He stayed in the house. Dorthy escorted the three children to play in the front of the house. She went back in and confronted Jefferson! She said to him: "Daniel has some very fond memories of you. He mentions you often. I know my own body, and today I am fertile. I would like to give Daniel a piece of you. So lets go to the bedroom and have some sex!" Jefferson was flabbergasted! He looked at Dorothy and asked: "Dorothy. Are you trying to seduce me?" Dorothy answered: "If that's what you want to call it - fine! Lets have some sex and start a baby!" Jefferson was of mixed minds: he had not had sex with a female since high school. He did not know if he could function with her. He wondered if he would be cheating on Tom. He thought about it some more, and his curiosity was aroused. He said: "OK, lets go to the bedroom and have some sex." He went upstairs, had quick sex, and came back downstairs. He was in the living room reading a newspaper when Daniel, Richard and Tom came back in. They talked for several hours, then Tom and Jefferson got in their car and drove to Yellowstone. A few months later, it was obvious that Dorothy was Pregnant. Daniel asked Richard: " Did you sleep with her?" Richard answered: "No. I thought you did." Richard confronted Dorothy and asked: "Who is the father?" Dorothy answered: "You'll find out!" Several months later, they drove to the hospital and Dorothy gave birth to a baby boy. The next day, Daniel visited the hospital and held the newborn boy. Dorothy said: I am going to break tradition; I have already named him. Daniel, say hello to Jefferson Davis Nutley."
