Chapter Fourteen "Cid, your fangs." Jus raised his eyebrows and shouted in his mind. "Hey Jus, where have you been? You were not in school for many days last week." Kale asked. Jus quickly moved between Cid and Kale, as he replied, "Oh,... ummm, I was sick. Don't worry. I'm much better now." "That's a relief. I thought you were gonna leave without saying goodbye. And I see you've made new friends. Not gonna introduce?" "Oh sure. This is Zac and... that's Cid." "Hey, nice to meet you. I'm Kale." Kale responded as he raised his hand for a shake. Zac took his hand and shook firmly. Cid who finally managed to retract his fangs took Kale's hand and held on to it. I was looking at Cid, then at Kale but neither of them moved from each other. Time seemed to be frozen, as the world around them melted away. "Ahem..." I faked a cough. Kale removed his hand sheepishly and said, "Nice knowing you guys. Catch up with you later, I need to run to the library to return my books." Just before turning into the building, Kale looked back and glanced at Cid. Knowing he was caught looking, he quickly turned his gazed and walked away. Cid was in a trance and anyone could have guessed what happened. They are mates. I shook Cid and called, "Cid... Wake up. Yuuhoo...." Then I clapped my hands loudly in front of his face. "Hey, what's that for?" Cid yelled. "Oh, finally you are awake. How was your dream....guy?" I teased. "Huh? What? No, it can't be..... Is he? Do you think....?" Cid muttered. "That's so unlike you, Cid. I'm sure you felt it that very instance. Like how I felt when I met Zac." I grinned. "But... there are consequences.... He'll be an immortal like me...." Cid trailed off. And from his tone, I could feel his sadness and loneliness. "The choice should be given to him. Just as Zac had given me the choice. Should he choose not to be changed, at least you gave it a shot." I was literally amazed at myself for advising Cid on emotional issues. "In the meanwhile, why don't you get to know him better. The rest can come later. Let's go, break is almost over." Zac said as he tapped his hand on Cid's shoulder. Over the next few days, I invited Kale to join us during lunch break. Kale was more than willing to accept as he blurted a `yes' before I could even finish my sentence. Zac and I would always cook up some excuses to leave the two of them alone. The night before our tournament, I asked Cid, "So how was progress?" "What progress?" Cid asked, innocently. "You know... your Kale..." I replied, with a sly smile. "Oh....(he's not mine yet) We talked. He's a nice kid. And I really like him a lot. But I just couldn't find the right moment to break it to him. What am I gonna say? Hi, I'm a vampire. Do you want a bite?" Cid said, with a shrug. "You have to tell him sooner or later. He's eighteen, definitely legal and I'm sure he can understand. You gotta have faith in your mate. Just as Zac had faith in me." "That's easy for you to say. I've been a loner my entire life. We vampires keep to ourselves a lot. I'm really not good at socialising. And there's a huge problem. He's a top. I gathered from his thoughts. For me to turn him, I'll need to inject my semen into him. But so far, he's only thinking of how to fuck me in the arse." Cid gave a long sigh. I laughed, "Give yourself some time. I'm sure things will work out fine for both of you." Little did I know the day for Kale and Cid to make the decision would be close. The day of our tournament arrived on Saturday. We decided to go over early and get ourselves familiarised with our surroundings. But we all knew, the main reason was nervousness. Our match was set against the Black Hills Pack from South Dakota. Very little was known about this pack and we were hoping to be able to gather some information when we reached. When we reached the stadium at noon, people were already present. Some of them were in the lounge, a few went into their designated rooms and the rest were just walking around the compound. Cid expanded his mental abilities and scanned the area, but to no avail. Either the pack had yet to arrive or they had a mind user like Cid who was able to block off mental scanning. We found out it was the latter, during the match. Finally, the time came for us to proceed to the waiting area for the tournament. I was anxious for everyone. I really didn't want anyone to be hurt because of me. Everyone was edgy to a certain extent as it was our first match after all. "Guys, I want you to know that I've complete faith in all of you. I know you have been training hard, but I would feel bad if anyone of you get hurt. Please fight with caution." I said. "Yes, we can do it. This is our first step and we shall fight with honour and dignity!" Zac shouted. Zac puts his hand in front and everyone stacked our hands on top of his. "GO MAPLE!" we cheered. "Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the third round of the tournament. On the right we have the Maple Hill Pack, New York" crowd roared as the announcement was made. "And on my left the Black Hills Pack, South Dakota." The stadium rumbled with claps and shouts from the crowd. "Without further ado, LET THE TOURNAMENT BEGINS!" The gate to the bridge flung open and we walked out into the stadium ring. Due to the need to shift, Zac, Bart, Jerome, Rick, Shamir and Kasmir were naked. Cid and I were the only ones with our clothes on. Before the match, it was decided that Shamir will fight first, followed by Zac, Jerome, Cid, Rick, Kasmir and lastly Bart. Shamir was chosen because of his combat abilities and would be a good start for the match. Zac simply didn't want to be the last in case we won by the fourth fight. Jerome was our next best fighter, while Cid was our trump card in mental abilities. Rick, Kasmir and Bart were simply slotted in no particular fashion. From the bridge, we could see our competitors and they were all NAKED! What a sight to behold at this distance. They were all so well-built and hung. "Ahem... you are drooling." Zac chided. "I'm sorry...." I lowered my head in shame. "Round One. Fight." Shamir strolled out onto the platform steadily, eyeing his opponent. In a flash, they both shifted into their were-form. Shamir shifted to a large white were-tiger while the opponent shifted into an auburn wolf. The wolf was fast, but Shamir was able to dodge and deflect the wolf's advances. Then Shamir found a weak spot and it was his turn to attack. The match ended within seconds when Shamir clamped his powerful jaws at the wolf's neck. Shamir did not go for the kill, he simply held him immobile till the match was decided. Next, Zac stepped onto the platform, but he did not shift into his wolf form. When the wolf charged at him, Zac simply crushed the wolf into the ground with his bare hands. It was a walkover. As he walked to my side, he flexed his biceps in front of me and I was mesmerised by the sheer size of his muscle. As I reached out and squeezed his rock hard muscle, I almost creamed myself on the spot. For reasons unknown, my needs for coupling increased since my changed. Maybe it was my senses driving me crazy, or maybe it was something else.... But the world didn't matter, I just wanted to worship my man. "Ok, that's enough for now." Zac commanded. Like breaking out of a spell, I was `normal' again and I felt so shameful as tears fell from my cheeks. "What's happening to me?" Zac quickly hugged me to his chest. "Hush baby. There's nothing to be ashamed of. Openly display of affection is a norm for wolves." "But I felt compelled to do it." "I'm an Alpha in my own rights. Your wolf basically succumbed to my will. Let's get on with the match, I'll explain in detail later." Jerome was next, and both shifted into their wolf form. Instead of charging at each other, the two wolves circled one another cautiously. Both were trying to find an opening for attack. Jerome suddenly dropped his gaze and the other wolf took the opportunity to attack. "Noooo!" I screamed, closing my eyes, afraid to see the inevitable defeat of Jerome. After a few seconds, the referee announced, "And the winner is Maple Hill!" "Huh?" I opened my eyes and saw Jerome had the other wolf by the neck. "But..." "It's a bluff. When Jerome shifted his eyes away, he was ready for his opponent to attack and he bet on it. When the wolf charged forward, he sidestepped, dodged and counterattacked in that split second. It was a very bold move." Zac commented. Exhaling loudly expressing my relief, I rushed forward and hugged Jerome. But Zac, pulled me off before I could wrap my arms around him. "Man, you almost freaked me out!" I said. Jerome simply smiled confidently. "It was a calculated risk. Sorry I made you worried." Everyone patted Jerome on his back commending his effort. Cid was on next and it was critical that he win. If he did not, we may have to face a hard battle. Kamir was the only one left with abilities and should he be paired with someone with mental abilities, his defeat would have been set in the stone. Cid walked onto the platform slowly. From the look of it, winning the match should be child's play. But I felt unnerved, as if something bad was going to happen. "Ready. Fight." His opponent ran towards Cid and deliver a punch straight into his gut. "What are you doing?" Zac shouted. Cid did not move, he just remained there immobilised. Speaking of which, his opponent did not shift into his wolf form. Blow after blow landed on Cid, till he threw up blood onto the platform. "Cid!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. But Cid remained quiet. "Guys, look over there." Zac pointed somewhere at the audience area. What we saw, made us understand the cause of Cid's action. It was Kale! With my improved wolf's sight, I could see that Kale was held at knife point and it was obvious he was crying. "That's so underhand! It's cheating!" I said loudly. "Bart, cover me." Kasmir whispered, as he stood behind Bart. Cid knelt on the ground, he was bleeding and panting heavily. A vampire draws his strength and power from blood. Losing that much blood could mean death for a vampire. His opponent was going to give the final strike to end the match as he shifted partially, with sharp claws extended from his hands. "Cid, kill that bastard!" Kale yelled behind me. I was informed later that Kasmir used his speed, ability to run over to the audience area, saving Kale from his captors. Cid raised his hand just in time and cast his mind control ability. The wolf stopped just before his claws reached Cid's neck. Any later, Cid's head would have been slashed off his body. Cid exerted more of his power and the wolf's neck started to twist in an odd angle. With a loud snap, the head gave a complete turn, and the body dropped to the floor motionless. "And the winner for tonight, Maple Hill!!!!!" The crowd roared, as Cid staggered back towards us. "Kale..." Cid raised his hand towards Kale and fell forward. "Cid!" Yelling as we rushed over to him. Cid was in critical condition and Zac could not even reach him mentally. His life force was seeping away with every passing second. We really needed a miracle, and fast. I held my hands together, closed my eyes and prayed. "Mother! We need you! Help us now!" Just as I was about to give up hope.... "Dear child... do not be afraid." my mother's voice spoke gently in my mind. "Behold! Through your hands, all wounds shall heal. But be warned. Should you try to raise the dead, you risk your own...." As the voice faded away, I told the pack to give me some clearance as I moved next to Cid. "Let me try." Placing my right hand on Cid's forehead, took a deep breath and closed my eyes. Gradually, I could feel the energy, flowing out from my core, moving towards my hand. "Jus is glowing!" Jerome exclaimed. "Shhh, let him concentrate." Zac hushed. "Arrrgh... " Cid stirred. "What happened?" Cid managed to sit up and asked. "You were almost gone, thanks to....Jus! Jus! Are you ok?" Zac panicked as I slumped to the floor unconscious. When I woke up, it was already Sunday evening. "Zac...?" "I'm here baby. You scared the living shit out of me. Are you feeling better?" Zac asked, with teary eyes. "I'm just exhausted, I guess. I feel alright though, just tired." "Alright. Just get some sleep. I'm right here with you." Zac cooed. I drifted off as weariness overcame me. That night, Cid and Kale......... --------- End of Chapter ---------- Writer's note: Sorry guys.
