Dancing with the Dragon Chapter 47: Creepie-Crawlies by Tripp Savidge * Scene 1 * Skye watched the elves, keeping his shields down to determine if there was any real danger. Given the elves' condition compared to his own team, he wasn't worried about his wing. He and Mistral had no doubts they could easily subdue even a larger number of the elves. But he was worried about the others. **Skye, I think I could take most of them out if I used my blast,** River mentally sent to the wing. **No, let's not escalate. Underhill wants us to save them, not kill them. I'm also worried about Kessalee; he doesn't look well at all,** Skye responded. **Skye, if he fell ill as soon as he arrived here, maybe it's something about this place,** Mica suggested. **Given how it feels to me, I'll second that. And it's not just the absence of magic; this place feels wrong,** Gilian sent. **Maybe we should send him back?** Mica suggested. **Um... guys, is anyone else feeling weird? I really don't want to be here.** Skye felt the strange sensation too. It had come on suddenly, and while he didn't know why, it was making him very agitated, and he fully agreed with Mica that he wanted to leave - now. But he didn't think it was the same thing that was affecting Gilian and Kessalee. Within seconds a loud, thunder-like roar boomed around them, and the ground began to shake. Skye and the others changed their stance and did their best to stay on their feet. Within moments it passed, and everything went eerily quiet. When the ground stilled, the strange, agitated feeling passed as well. **So is anyone else wishing Gregg was here? He might know what was going on with this rock,** Corbin sent. "No one move!" the elf leader shouted. The elves didn't seem to be surprised or worried about the tremor. Not a good sign, Mistral. Likely means that they are happening regularly and have been. **If my vision was anything to go by, I think we should expect it to get a lot worse. I remember numerous volcanoes, lava, and fire everywhere. I think even without Gregg, we can say this place is unstable,** Skye sent as he watched the elves, and his eyes darted to another pair of dark elves running toward them from the village. "Valters, stop!" one of the new elves shouted. "Don't hurt them!" Skye watched the leader who'd been holding them, apparently named Valters, roll his eyes and scowl as the newcomers approached. One of the new elves looked younger than the others, with a slighter build, and the second was a female. Their thoughts were jumbled as if in a panic. "Mama had a vision. Please, don't hurt them." "Of course she did." Valters turned his head without lowering his bow. "Stay out of this, elfling. I'm in charge when your father is away." The young elf walked past the leader and placed himself in front of Skye. "I don't care. They are here to save us. Mama saw it in a vision." Skye couldn't help but admire the young elf and not just because he was by far the most attractive of Taleel look-alikes, but he also had an incredibly strong mental presence. Skye turned his attention back to their captor, and his eyes widened a little when he picked up on Valter's thought: "Just like she had a vision that Arnakkhor would be a better mate than I." "I don't care what 'she' saw. They are a threat sent by the Court of Light, most likely, to finish the job and kill us all. Move out of the way," Valters commanded. "No, Valters, they are here to take us back!" "Jhaeros, you go too far." Valters' voice was low and threatening. "And you are too eager for death. I won't let you hurt them! They will help us escape," Jhaeros yelled back. "Really, and how can they do that? The gateway is closed, and there is no magic here to open it again." A loud thump sounded, and everyone turned to see the crate had dropped to the ground. **Sorry, Skye. I guess the magic gave out?** Bryan sent as he stared at the crate as though it had betrayed him. Well that's somewhat foretelling, Skye said to Mistral. 'We can open the gate, you should tell them,' Mistral said. "If I am able to open the portal to Underhill, would that prove that we are here to help you?" Skye asked. All eyes turned to him except for Jhaeros who squared his shoulders and stood taller, still keeping his slender back to Skye. "Impossible," Valters scoffed. "We have tried every day for years." As he spoke, the female elf carefully stepped up to Jhaeros and whispered into his ear as she pointed at Kessalee's prone form on the ground. Even as gaunt as she was and in tattered leathers, she was beautiful. "Is he a mage?" Jhaeros whispered over his shoulder. "He is," Skye answered. "Mother says you need to send him back, and soon. She said most of our mages didn't survive the first week here." Skye had already picked up on her thoughts and knew of her concern. "Why not let him try? If you are so sure, then what is the harm?" Jhaeros asked. Valters moved closer to a couple of the other archers and began whispering. From what Skye picked up, Valters was asking their opinion if he should allow Skye to try opening the gate. **You guys pick up on that. We need to send Kessalee back through to Underhill,** Skye sent to his wing. He listened to the archers' thoughts and found that even the one who'd called for their death was hoping it would work. **We can't send him alone. Who knows if those vines grew back or if the hounds are waiting,** Mica sent. **Maybe we should send Bram and Noud back with him, I think they're in more danger here than the rest of us. I guess Raphael too,** Nik suggested. **He won't go. Raph is a stubborn bastard, and he'd take it as an insult that we didn't think he could handle it. At least Bram and Noud would understand the need to escort Kessalee,** Gilian put in. **Are you worried, Gilian? Do you want to return?** Skye asked. **No. And let these pricks intimidate me? I think not.** Gilian's mental huff came through clearly in her mind-voice. "Fine, you can try it. Still doesn't prove you're a dragon," Valters said, interrupting their mental dialog. "I can prove that I'm a dragon if that will get you to lower your bows and stop threatening my friends," Skye said. **If they don't, you should let me take 'em out,** River insisted. Skye could feel his brother's determination and the build-up of his magic and had no doubt River would try. He was also pretty sure that the elves in question wouldn't be returning if he let River handle it. Though I'm thinking I might be okay with that where Valters is concerned, Skye thought. "Can everyone stay calm and not shoot anyone while I turn and approach where the gate was?" Skye watched Valters as he spoke and got a nod in answer. **I got you, babe.** Garrett turned with Skye and put his hands on Skye's shoulders. **Do you need to draw from me? It's okay if you do.** **It shouldn't take much magic. If I remember it's more like a spark to trigger the portal.** Skye looked around and realized there was no surround or doorway, reminding him of what he'd encountered in the forest of Underhill. **Do you remember, Skye?** Gilian asked. **I can step you through it...** **I remember, thank you, Gilian.** Skye closed his eyes and pulled his magic. The hum of the gateway came to him almost immediately. He could see the portal in his mind and willed it to open to the time and place they had passed through. The hum grew louder, and he felt his skin tingle. When he opened his eyes, a glowing doorway stood in front of him. Now that he knew where it was, he saw that the elves had laid stones into the ground where the threshold was. "You did it, babe." Garrett wrapped his arms around Skye from behind and kissed the back of his head. There were gasps from the elves, and when Skye turned, he saw that most had lowered their bows and stood with looks of wonder on their faces. Everyone, except Valters, who looked as skeptical as ever. "How'd he..." one of the archers whispered. "Please lower your bow, Valters. I've proven I can open the gate. Now it's time to trust us. Let me send our mage home." "Why? So he can bring back reinforcements?" Valters growled, still keeping his aim on the kneeling elves. "Valters, you need to trust them. They're here to helps us. Mama's vision..." "Shut up! I don't need you meddling, elfling. Go back to the village and take 'her' with you!" **Skye, let me...** River's mind voice growled right back. His magic so close to the surface it felt like electricity dancing across Skye's skin. Skye looked around at the other elves and easily picked up on their thoughts. They didn't want to disobey their leader, but most were excited about the possibility of leaving. What do you think, Mistral? 'I agree. It's time for action and maybe before River loses it and does something we'll all regret.' "We are running out of time, and I have a job to do. I'm sorry, Valters." Skye reached out with his mind and within seconds, Valters went still. The only outward indication was the sheer panic in his eyes. But Skye knew his mind was screaming in terror. **Guys, you know what to do,** Skye sent to his wing. Skye's guards stepped forward, pulling Bram and Noud to their feet. Gilian stood and brushed off her knees, not even attempting to hide the glare for Valters. Bryan went to check on Kessalee. The remaining elves had lowered their weapons, and most were still staring at the portal. "So the vision was right? You are here to save us?" Jhaeros asked as he faced Skye. His large, dark eyes full of hope. His mother had stayed close but wasn't making eye contact. "Yes. Underhill sent us to bring you home. Are you all right, ma'am?" Skye asked, wondering if Jhaeros's mother was hurt. It helped to turn his attention to her as it would have been easy to keep staring at Jhaeros. She leaned in and whispered to Jhaeros. Skye picked up on what she said but wasn't ready to reveal all his abilities just yet. So, he waited until Jhaeros was ready to share. "Maybe dragons do things differently, but Valters does not permit mated females to speak in his presence. She said to tell you that she is fine and is grateful for your help." Jhaeros shuffled his feet and blushed as he spoke. "What a bunch of dragon dung," Corbin said. "Skye, tell him!" Skye smiled but held back the laugh. "We do things differently, as you may have seen. Gilian is equal to any of my other team members and is treated no differently." Chaz cleared his throat and coughed. "Okay, she does get a little more respect, and we might be more careful not to upset her so she doesn't pull a blade on us," Skye admitted. "Is there anything else your mother would be willing to share from her visions?" Jhaeros nodded, and he and his mother turned away in quiet conversation. The other elves had all stowed their bows and pulled back as a group glancing nervously at Valters. Interestingly, no one asked about Valters, and they gave him a wide berth. He hadn't moved, not even a twitch, even when Corbin removed his bow from his grasp and checked him for other weapons. Skye could feel tension building again. "There was nothing else she wanted to share," Jhaeros said. Interesting choice of words, Mistral. But I'm not picking up anything from her thoughts. It's almost like she is shielding. **Should have let me deal with him,** River said with a scowl. **No, River. This is much better. You save your show for the big stuff.** Nik pulled River to him and gave him a kiss on the brow. **What do we do with 'him'?** Mica tipped his head toward the elf statue. "I assume that Valters is your current leader while the 'King' is away?" Skye asked looking at the group of elves. "Yes, sir. Is he okay, sir?" one of the archers asked. "He's fine. No damage, I promise. But, if he interferes with us again, I won't guarantee his fate. Is there any other senior leader, someone we can speak to who can help organize your people?" "Maybe the elders?" the archer responded. "We have limited time. More of the volcanoes will be erupting soon, and your people are in danger," Skye heard a sharp intake from behind and turned to see Jhaeros's mother clutching tightly to his arm as her dark eyes stared into Skye's. Skye spoke before considering the implications. "Underhill sent me visions." "Mama has had similar visions of being surrounded by fire. But she wants to know how you-" "Will your elders listen to us?" Skye interrupted, wondering why she hadn't chosen to share that before. "Not likely. They may not be as bad as Valters, but they'll want to wait for father, the king." "Do you know when he'll return?" Mica asked. "He took a group out to check the lava flows. They've been spreading, and he was going to see how soon we would need to evacuate," Jhaeros said. **Guys? What do we do?** Skye sent to the wing. **First, we've got to get Kessalee back to Underhill. Has someone asked Bram and Noud?** Garrett asked. "Gil, what's going on?" Raphael asked tentatively as he stared at Skye and the other guards. **Skye, can you bring in Raphael? I'll pull Bram and Noud aside and explain things,** Gilian sent. **Raphael, can you hear me?** Skye sent to the elf Ranger. **Holy shit. You're in my head!** **It's called telepathy. I can speak mind to mind and can speak to all of my wing-mates at once. I can include you, but it might give you a headache since you're not part of the wing.** **Okay,** Raphael thought and then gritted his teeth, and Skye picked up that he was expecting it to be painful. **Welcome, Raphael. We were discussing that we need to send Kessalee back to Underhill. We'll also need Bram and Noud to go with him. We can't send him on his own, and I'm not sure he's even capable of walking at this point.** Skye could see they were getting curious looks from Jhaeros and his mother. **I'm staying,** Raphael mentally shouted. **Just think it, dude. You don't have to yell it,** River sent. **Bram and Noud are good with the plan, but they reserve the right to come back if Underhill allows them,** Gilian sent. Skye watched as Bram and Noud carefully lifted Kessalee and approached the gateway. "Be careful. You may have to take him back to the palace. I'll leave that up to you." "We will return, Prince Skye. Once we're sure Kessalee is safe," Bram said. Skye appreciated the loyalty but wasn't sure what the elves would be able to do in the inhospitable world they found themselves on. The elves stepped through the portal, and it closed a few moments later. "Why does it do that?" Nik asked. "What? You mean closing on its own?" Raphael asked. "Yeah. Why not just stay open?" "I don't know. I've always accepted that it is how the portal works. If someone else needs to pass through, they open it again," Raphael explained. "But now that you mention it, I guess it is rather disturbing when I'm not able to open it or even sense that it's there." "Guess, we know what the non-fae feel like," Gilian said. "Or what those exiled have felt every day since they arrived," Garrett added. "Jhaeros, when do you expect your father to return?" Skye asked. "They left two days ago and should be to the flows by now. Maybe a week, possibly two? I think it depends on how far they have to search for safe places if they think we need to move." Jhaeros turned back to his mother, who was trying to get his attention. "Mother would like to know if you are truly a dragon?" "I am. Do you think knowing I'm a dragon would help with your elders?" Skye asked. "Not really. They'll still insist on waiting for Father." "Great." Skye turned to Garrett. **Maybe we go get them and bring them back. We may not have two weeks,** Garrett sent still including the group. **We should also find out if everyone who was exiled is in this village. It could get complicated if we have to gather them up from all over the planet,** Corbin shared. **Let's hope not,** Mica added. Skye turned back to Jhaeros. "Do you know, are all those who were exiled in the village?" "Goodness, no. Only the night elves remained here. We're charged with guarding and watching the portal. The others scattered to find places that suited them." The young elf finished, and his mother nodded her agreement. At least she's no longer staring at the ground, Skye thought. "Is there a way to get word to the others?" Jhaeros turned to his mother and then back to Skye. "Father may have a way, we don't know. He is the only one who ever speaks to the others. I think he usually sends messengers." "Fuck," River muttered. "This is so bad." Nik wrapped his arms around his mate. **Does this mean that maybe we should go after the king like Garrett said?** **Mica?** Skye turned to his surfer dude. **Yeah, but if time is short, we'll need to fly. Raphael, have you ever ridden a dragon?** The color completely drained from the Ranger's face, and he turned to Gilian like he expected her to tell him they were kidding. "Ah, come on, you're always telling me how good you are. Surely you aren't afraid of riding a dragon. Bareback. Without a saddle or reins." Gilian sounded almost giddy as she spoke to Raphael. "It's okay; I'll take him. I've taken dragonlings before at family get- togethers. He can't be worse than they," Mica volunteered. Skye felt bad for the elf and still wondered when he'd find out what the story was behind the two's relationship. "Bryan, start unpacking and distribute to the riders who can stow stuff in their packs," Mica called out. "What about the armor and our clothes?" Skye asked. You know, Mistral, we should talk to the Master Mage. In that book Dillon was reading to us; they used magic to shift their clothing with them. That would come in handy. "I think Dillon threw in a couple of dragon satchels. We'll have to leave most of our stuff here and just take the minimum. Food and the medical kit are more important," Mica said. "So who is riding, and who is flying?" River asked. "Chaz, Gilian, and Raphael will be riding obviously," Corbin said as he crammed food rations into one of the packs. "My range and speed aren't as strong as the others; I'll be more effective in my human form. And if needed, I can shift quickly. Can I ride Bryan?" Kuai's smile was positively evil. Before Skye had a chance to object, Mica spoke. "No, not until you two work your shit out. Ride River." "What? Why me?" River asked. "Attitude aside, you're good, and you know how to keep a rider. Nik's also damn good so he'll be flying too. Gilian, I'd like you on Garrett and Skye will carry Chaz. They're as natural as bond-mates." "We kinda are." Skye couldn't disagree. He liked flying with Chaz and knew that the were-dagger wasn't comfortable flying with many of the other dragons. While everyone was getting set, Skye turned back to Jhaeros and his mother. "Can you point us in a direction?" "I could go with you." Jhaeros had a hopeful look on his face that was all too familiar. "I need you here. If the others won't listen to your mother, then you need to speak with the elders. Start getting the word out. People need to pack and get prepared to leave. I hate to leave you with Valters, but I don't know what else to do with him." "Will he stay like that?" Jhaeros asked. "No, I'll release him once we're in dragon form." Jhaeros slumped but seemed to understand and drew out a rough map in the dirt. Skye made sure Mica and Corbin, as well as the Rangers, studied it and had the chance to ask questions. When they were as ready as they could be, Skye turned to the other elves who had remained nearby. "I know this is a lot to take in, and you have no reason to trust us; unfortunately, I don't know how to prove it to you. This place is unstable and the tremors and eruptions are going to get much worse. Please, if you want to escape back to Underhill, then help us convince the others. You saw me open the gate and soon, you'll see us change into our dragon forms. Tell the others." "Skye, I'd like you and River to shift first," Mica said, and the other wing members circled around, facing away as Skye and River stripped off their clothing and armor. **You ready, little brother?** Skye asked. **You'll be the little one once we shift.** **True, too bad it's only the muscles, not the brain that grows.** Skye didn't wait for a response before letting Mistral take over and feeling the magic flow through him. Within seconds he was looking down at the shocked faces of the elves. "Smart-ass," River growled behind Skye, loud and deep enough it almost felt like another tremor. **Love you, bro,** Skye sent. **Back atcha. Storm is really itching to fly. Hope this doesn't take long.** **Storm? As in totally destructive violent kind of storm?** Skye asked, turning his head to look into "Storm's" glowing eyes. River's dragon growled, and sparks huffed out of his nostrils. **Okay, okay. I get it. A very nice name and well suited to your personality.** **Damn straight,** River sent. Skye swallowed the snicker. Yeah, cause River is anything but straight. Skye and River moved forward and positioned themselves to both screen and protect their wing-mates from the elves as they undressed. River went so far as to spread his wings. **What? I don't want them looking at Nik's good stuff.** Skye found it amusing but didn't fault his brother's logic. He didn't mind having others look at Garret. In a way, he rather liked having them know how hot his mate was. 'Because we know he is ours and will always choose us,' Mistral responded. Skye wanted to purr as he felt Chaz's hands stroking his haunches and belly. He turned to watch the were-dagger as he quickly climbed up on his back, and then he noticed Raphael and Gilian staring at Bryan and the others as they stripped. Skye knew from their thoughts that both appreciated the view and it made him wonder even more what was going on. Raphael's thoughts about Skye's mates were far from pure and what he was thinking of doing with Bryan might even be worth sharing with the gold. 'He likes men,' Mistral observed. So does Gilian, though she would have us believe otherwise, she also seems quite surprised with Raphael's reaction, and oddly pleased. I wonder why Bryan though? While he's handsome and unattached he's not more so than Mica or Corbin. It didn't take long for the others to shift, and Skye had a chance to really look at his wing-mates and appreciate their forms. Other than River, the rest of the dragons were all shades of gold with contrasting accents. Their scales gleamed in the sunlight and Skye could understand why the elves stared in awe. Our mate is the most beautiful, Mistral. 'I agree, though they are all fine dragons. Nik is still young and will likely grow larger and may even get horns or frills as he ages.' But River and I are younger than Nik. Why did our dragons manifest as full adults? Skye asked. 'I don't know. We are what we are. Maybe it is better not to know the why.' **I'm glad Colonel Bianchi made us practice without equipment. Certainly didn't expect to need those lessons this soon.** Chaz rubbed his hands up and down the scales of Mistral's neck. **I agree. That feels very good by the way, and you know there is no way that Mistral and I will let you fall,** Skye said in Chaz's mind. **I know. I feel sorry for Raphael. While I know Mica will keep him safe, flying isn't for everyone,** Chaz responded. **Everyone is mounted up. You ready?** **One moment.** Skye looked back to where Valters still stood immobile. He reached out and released the elf's muscle control. As soon as he pulled back, Valters fell to his hands and knees, gasping. They didn't spare him another glance as Mica leapt into the air, and the others followed. * Scene 2 * **I think we need to get out and fly more,** River sent. **Tell me about it. Mistral and I are feeling it, too,** Skye responded. **It has been a few hours. Do you want to stop for a rest? We should probably eat again as well,** Mica said. **Oh, yum. Rations,** River muttered mentally. They followed Mica's spiral toward the ground. For most of their flight, they'd stayed fairly high to catch the better wind currents. While they could still see the ground, they weren't too worried about missing the elf king or his party. To this point, they'd seen no lifeforms and very little vegetation. Even the small stream they'd crossed was filthy with debris. A cloud of dust swirled up as they landed. The ground was dry and parched and made a crunching sound as Skye set down. **You doing okay, Chaz?** Skye asked. **Yeah, give me a second and I'll jump down.** Chaz slid down Mistral's neck and used his foreleg as a slide. Skye noticed that Chaz had tied a cloth over his nose and mouth and wished he could do the same. Even without the dust, the place smelled bad. Skye looked around and saw that everyone was landed and the riders had dismounted and were now stretching. They hadn't reached the lava flows, but he could see the fire and glow from the molten rock in the distance. The volcano appeared to be toward the end of a ridge of mountains. It must have been a helluva explosion, Skye thought as he guessed the one leaking the glowing streams was at least a third or more shorter than those around it. **Kuai, can you divide up rations? Feed the riders first then we'll take turns shifting back to human form to eat.** **Why, Mica?** Nik looked almost comical as his dragon stretched out like a cat. **We consume much less in our human form. Our rations will never last if we eat as dragons. So far, we haven't seen any native creatures and I'm not sure I'd trust eating anything that lives here.** **Fucking amen to that,** River agreed. Skye let out a loud rumbling purr as Garrett nuzzled against him. **You doing okay, babe?** Garrett sent, speaking only with Skye. **Yeah, I am. I wish we were making more progress though. I have this feeling of impending doom.** **Probably from those nasty visions. So... I've been watching Raphael.** **And?** **Oh, you really are distracted, aren't you? You can't feel it? He's so horny he can't think straight. When he watched us shifting I was pretty sure he was going to tackle one of our mates and ride him into the ground.** **Thought you could only read that from humans,** Skye sent back. **Until I mated with you. My lust radar leveled up.** Skye snorted and sent a cloud of dust and gravel into the air. "Hey!" Chaz complained. "Sorry." Skye's dragon voice rumbled like thunder. **Do you think we need to do something about it?** **You think any of them would be willing to put the elf out of his misery?** Garrett asked. **Hey, Gilian, can you tell us what's up with you and the Ranger? Garrett has noticed some things, but I think we need the full picture.** Gilian looked up from where she was leaning against Garrett's flank and moved in a little closer. **Not all that complicated. We've known each other since we were young. He was always a flirt, but when we were Rangers and serving together, he cranked it up to being an invasive prick. He never let up, always trying to get into my pants.** Garrett gave a mental chortle, fortunately without a dust cloud. **I'm thinking he was trying to get in something other than your pants.** **No, see that's what's funny. I think it was all a smokescreen. Everyone knew I didn't play. I think he believed he was safe putting moves on me because I wouldn't follow through. Seeing how he's reacted to you guys, makes me think he likes the 'D.' I think Skye's affecting him.** **What? I am not. My magic hasn't tingled around him even a little!** Skye objected. **Oh, honey.** Gilian walked closer and rubbed Skye's brow. **You put off enough pheromones to take down an army. And I swear it's even worse in your dragon form.** **Garrett, tell her she's wrong!** Skye mentally demanded. **Uh... sorry, my most beautiful and beloved mate, but you kinda do. I think your wing has just come to accept it as normal.** Mistral, they aren't serious, are they? I'm not doing anything, I swear. 'It is part of what we are. There is no shame,' Mistral responded. **Not sure I believe you, but regardless, I thought elves were okay with men being together? Why would Raphael hide it?** Skye asked when he got the sense he wasn't going to get any better answers. **For the most part, but Raphael is nobility, and his family had expectations. They want the line to continue and he's the only son. So like me, he became a Ranger. But as you've seen with me and Dillon, you can't really escape.** **We've noticed Raphael is rather distracted. Would you be okay if we bled off some of his steam?** Garrett asked. **Sure, but would you mind waiting until I've had a little more fun?** Gilian asked. **We can wait. Just let us know when,** Skye sent, glad that it wasn't something he'd have to do himself. * Scene 3 * Once they'd had a brief rest and had all taken a turn stretching and eating, it was back to the air. They'd only flown a short while when Mica and Corbin spotted something and veered off for a closer look. **What the fuck, Skye? It's a herd of something.** River dropped lower. Skye assumed to get a better look, so he followed. **Beetles of some type,** Mica reported back. The swarm was raising enough of a cloud of dust that they were somewhat hidden. **That's just fucking wrong!** River mentally exclaimed. **They're huge!** Nik added. Skye agreed completely and wasn't sure that "beetle" was the right term for a scarab that was as large as a bull. When they were close enough to see through the dust, he could see that they were black and brown with a sheen to their shells and the pincers had to have had at least a four- foot span. **Let's keep going. They don't appear to have wings and aren't reacting to us.** Mica climbed higher to catch the currents, and the rest followed him. **Why bugs? I fucking hate bugs,** River complained. Skye could empathize and felt bad for River. He knew that ever since their grandfather had let them watch 'The Mummy' when they were little, River had nightmares about the flesh-eating scarabs. Over the next couple of hours, they saw several more swarms of the beetles all headed in the same direction-away from the volcano. They were much closer to the mountains now and had dropped to a lower altitude so they didn't miss the elves. In theory, the king's party could already be headed back to their village. **Um... guys... Do you see that? Just beyond that swarm. The ground is moving. At about eleven o'clock - upper left.** River's mind voice sounded both curious and apprehensive. At first, Skye thought maybe River was seeing the effects of another tremor, but when he looked to where River indicated, Skye agreed it appeared odd. As if something was moving under the surface and making a ridge in the soil. Whatever was moving seemed to be going toward or with the beetles. A loud screech sounded, and one of the beetles which was straggling at the back of the swarm disappeared. **Holy fuck! No way.** River veered off to get a closer look. "Whoa!" Kuai called out at the sudden change in direction. **River! What the hell. You don't just fly off,** Mica scolded as he followed. It might not have been what Mica wanted, but the rest of them followed. **River, slow down,** Nik sent as he tucked his wings into a dive to catch up with the large platinum. **Fuck. Fuck. No...** River mind spoke as he got closer. The ground rippled, and another beetle screeched as it was pulled underneath. Moments later, a burst of dirt and rocks flew up as a large worm-like creature burst through and gave a loud roar. The beetles scattered, and those closest jumped forward to get farther away. I don't believe what I'm seeing, Mistral. **Are you kidding me? Where the fuck is Kevin Bacon when you need him?** River's mind voice carried an edge of panic. **River, stay clear. We don't know anything about these things. They might spit or something,** Mica sent. **No, but they can eat a car! What the fuck, Skye? What is wrong with this world?** **Well so far, I'd say the native animals are far from desirable, and the environment will never make it a tourist spot,** Corbin snickered. **I'm thinking the fae picked the most inhospitable place they could find,** Garrett added. **Yeah, you'd think they wanted them to all die-and quickly at that.** Skye didn't like the idea, but so far, the evidence pointed in that direction. **River, if you see any strange tornadoes, fly the other way.** **No need to tell me. I hate sushi.** River grumbled as he turned back on course. **Next time we land, make sure we're on solid rock, Mica.** **What?** Skye did an internal sigh. **The worms can bore through dirt but can't go through rock. Or that's true of the ones from the movie.** **The movie?** Bryan asked. **Skye and River have this thing about assuming that what is in their 'movies' is real,** Garrett said. **Exactly. Still waiting to find out where Father hid the Death Star,** River said. Garrett gave a mental groan, and Skye couldn't help but wonder if he'd heard a bit of Garrett's dragon in the response. The wind currents picked up, and they had to go higher to avoid turbulence. They continued on, trying to watch for any signs of the elves. They spotted more of the beetles and even signs of the worms but no structures or civilization of any kind. Skye heard the rumble of another tremor and could see more smoke and lava spewing from the volcano in the distance. They hadn't reached the lava fields yet, but he could see the glow in the distance and some fires here and there. **Not a great place to visit,** Garrett mind-spoke to Skye, excluding the others. **Everything about this feels bad. How are we going to get them to listen, Garrett?** **I have faith in you. I'm more worried about finding whatever others came through. I don't even know what we'll be looking for. There's no tech, no magic that we've seen, and no way to communicate with them. That means physically showing up on their doorstep and hoping they don't kill us.** **Garrett. We're dragons. I'm less worried since they don't have tech or magic. That means no bad-ass spells and no armor-piercing missiles. You said not much else could get through dragon scales, right? Tell me I'm right, Garrett.** **Yes, that's true. We need to work on your shifting.** **What do you mean, my shifting? I shift just fine.** **Partial shifting, Skye. Going in between full dragon and full human.** **You forget about what I did with my tongue in your ass?** Skye huffed. Chaz slapped Skye's neck. **Whatever you're doing, stop. I don't need to be any hornier on this trip than I am already. Not nice to do that to us, Skye when there's no chance of taking care of things.** **Sorry, Chaz.** Skye kept forgetting how his emotions and thoughts affected the rest of the wing. **No, Skye. There's no way I could forget. But there are other very practical things you can learn to do. Like changing your skin to scales so you are protected in human form. And like Chaz did with Tiev, you can shift to use your dragon claws,** Garrett explained. **Never thought of that. But, yeah, that would be a good idea. Tell you what. I'll work on shifting if you work on your magic.** **Skye, I don't need magic,** Garrett objected. **Think that our current situation is making it very clear, you do. Why don't you let me talk to Rett. I'm sure he'll understand.** Skye was even more determined than ever that the dragons in his wing would all learn to use their magic. Skye's mate let out a low growl but chose not to respond. Skye got enough through their bond to be fairly confident, Garrett and Rett were now having an argument. 'Well done, Skye. I will try to speak with Rett when Garrett's consciousness is sleeping,' Mistral said. What? You can do that? You can talk to others when I'm asleep? Skye asked. 'I can. Though it is much easier when we're in my form.' Well, shit. I'm not sure if I like that or not. You're not plotting against me or something, are you? 'Mm-hm... planning who we'll drag into our bed. It's my mission. I'm going to focus on flying while you think on that.' Mistral's presence pulled back. Skye groaned and turned his attention back to the view below. He loved flying and hadn't realized how much he missed being in his dragon form. Even better was having many of his wing-mates with him. Mica and Corbin flew in the lead with Garrett by his side. Bryan and Nik were in the rear and River... well, River was all over the place. Sometimes he was in front, sometimes beside Skye and sometimes above him. He was taking his protective role very seriously. Even Chaz was enjoying himself, and Skye liked having the were-dagger clutched tightly to his neck. Gilian and Kuai hadn't seemed to have any problems riding without the saddles. **Skye, how is Raphael doing? He's not in my head, so I can't tell,** Mica asked. **He's doing fine. I dropped the telepathic connection because it was starting to give him a headache. I'm keeping him updated if anything happens.** Skye noted that the fear and panicked look had faded, and the Ranger occasionally showed a smile or some excitement. **Guys, look off to the right... at the base of the mountain. Anyone else see that?** Gilian asked. **Fuck, more beetles,** River groaned as he banked to the right. **But I think there are people too,** Gilian added. Skye agreed. Now that he knew where to look, his dragon sight picked up the figures fighting off a swarm of beetles. **Stay high, and let's assess before we engage,** Mica ordered. **Agreed,** River replied. **Doesn't look good, does it?** Garrett said. They were now close enough to see the night elves clearly as well as the attacking beetles. The elves had made it to the rocks which were holding the beetles back somewhat but the scarabs were using each other to climb up the rocks and attack. **They're too close for us to take out the ones in melee. Bryan and Nik, circle around and use your dragon fire on the ones farther out. Skye and River, get ready to close in. You're both large enough you can pick up those beetles in your hind-claws.** **And then what?** River asked. The trepidation and disgust coming through in his mind-voice. **Crush them or toss them in the lava flows,** Mica responded. **As soon as the beetles are out of the way, we need Chaz and Kuai on the ground.** It wasn't looking good as far as Skye could tell, there were three men on the rocks that he could see, and one of them was down. Bryan made the first run and his fire hit the beetles with a roar. They chittered and squealed as they tried to scurry away from the flames, but the dragon fire was too hot and they began popping and exploding, sending pieces of shell and gore into the air. Nik followed sending his flames along the ground in a sweeping pattern, catching the remaining scarabs. If anything, they certainly had the elves and beetles' attention. Those on the rocks furiously tried to scurry higher as the elves fought them back. **Chaz, hang on. Looks like we're up, go for it, Mistral. Grab the one attacking the guy who's down!** Mistral folded his wings, and they dove with Chaz gripping tightly. Mistral extended his wings at the last moment and his talons latched onto the scarab. Skye felt his stomach churn as he heard a wet fleshy sucking sound as they lifted the beetle away. **Drop him in the lava. It's not too far to that fresh flow, and that way, we aren't covered in guts,** Chaz suggested. Skye could feel the beetle struggling and chittering in their grasp. Fortunately there was nothing for it to latch onto, and dragon scales were more than proof against its pinchers. Skye could feel the heat of the flowing molten rock as they drew close. They released the scarab and climbed back into the sky, safely out of range when the beetle exploded. As they returned, they passed River and Gilian carrying the next scarab. Mistral dove again grabbing another beetle to repeat the process. When they were down to the last bug, it ended up being River's turn. Mistral circled as they watched River grab the scarab and start climbing. It chittered and squirmed, and it looked like River might lose it for a moment and then it broke apart, pieces falling to the ground leaving River's underside covered with beetle guts. Uh oh. He's not going to be happy about that, Mistral. 'Then he will learn better control,' Mistral responded. 'Time we got Chaz on the ground.' Mistral landed as close to the rock formation as he could, and Chaz slid down and then made his way to the survivors. They moved a little closer, trying not to scare the elves but be near enough if additional assistance was needed. Now that they were on the ground, Skye could see blood and gore staining the soil and from what he could discern, pieces and parts from at least a few other elves. He turned to find the elf from whom he'd pulled the scarab. Oh, God, Mistral. That's... **Fucking shit! What the hell, Skye?** River sent as he moved up beside him. Skye didn't have a response. The scarab had eaten through the man's stomach and hollowed him out. All of the soft organs were gone, revealing the spine and base of the rib cage. There was no healing magic strong enough to bring someone back from that. **Skye! I need your help. Can you shift?** Kuai called out. Aw, crap. Skye muttered to himself as he shifted. Being naked and in bare feet was not how he wanted to encounter this scene. He'd just started to climb when Chaz met him, holding out his tactical pants. Skye looked up to see the smirk on the were-dagger's face. He was still wearing the form-fitting armor they all had put on under their clothing. "Thought you might get bashful. Sorry I don't have boots for you." "Thank you, Chaz. This is still better than nothing." Skye quickly pulled them on and found they weren't too far off in size. He accepted a hand from Chaz getting up on the higher rocks and headed to Kuai, who was leaning over one of the two remaining elves. Neither one of the dark- skinned elves was looking good. The closest was lying down, the other still sat but looked stunned. "I need your help. It looks like one of the scarabs tried to grab him around the waist. The punctures look deep, but I can't see what's damaged," Kuai said pointing to the unconscious elf lying on the rock. "I don't have anything in the field kit to fix that." "What? You came to finish us off?" a raspy voice asked. Skye turned his head as he knelt on the ground. Gilian and Raphael had joined them, and the other night elf was giving Gilian the look of death. "No. We're here to help." Gilian turned to Skye. "I'm sorry, Skye. Maybe Raph and I should have gone back. I didn't mean for our presence to make this harder." "No, Gil. We'll get it sorted out." **Gil, why don't you and Raph see if you can find a good spot for a camp? The sun is starting to set,** Mica asked. "Come on, Raphael, we need to check things out," Gilian said, pulling the other Ranger away. Skye turned his focus back to the prone elf. "What am I looking for?" "Internal damage. I don't want to close him up if there are problems I can't see," Kuai said. Skye drew on his magic and opened his other sight. He began at the elf's head and worked his way down. When he got to his abdomen, he found what had concerned Kuai and began the slow, tedious process of putting the elf back together. "Who are you people?" the other night elf asked. "I'm Chaz, and over there, helping your friend is Prince Skye and Kuai. If you'll permit me, I'd like to check your injuries. We can do full introductions once we make sure you aren't going to die on us." "How did you get here?" the elf asked. "Through the portal. From Underhill. Please, just lay back, and I'll be as gentle as I can," Chaz said. "Impossible. The portal is gone, and there's no magic on this cursed rock." Skye glanced at the elf when it hit him how sure the elf was that coming through the portal was impossible. "Okay, Kuai, I think it's safe to close him up now. I'd say give him an extra boost of the anti-infection stuff." "Sorry, I know he's filthy, but I don't have enough wipes to clean him properly. I was going to give him an antibiotic and healing accelerator," Kuai said as he pulled the items out of the med kit. "Best we can do. Though I don't think we should move him for a while if we can avoid it," Skye said, getting to his feet. He walked over to the other elf and watched as Chaz examined the injuries, cleaning and treating as he went. "Nothing too bad, so far. No deep punctures and plasti-skin will work on most of the cuts," Chaz reported. "How are you feeling?" Skye asked. "Like I just fought for my life and barely made it," the elf said. "You really expect me to believe you came through the portal?" "We did. Underhill sent us, and I'm sorry we didn't get here sooner. I think your friend will be okay. We'll have to watch him closely to make sure he doesn't get an infection or secondary problems." "He's more than a friend; he's my brother. Thank you." "Sure. I thought I heard Chaz tell you, but I'm Skye." "I am Arnakkhor, and my brother is Kazemkhor. The others... didn't make it." "We are very sorry for your loss," Chaz said. "We started out with eight. This place is a nightmare. And it's going to get worse... soon." "Can you please turn over for me?" Chaz asked. Arnakkhor shifted onto his stomach. The clothing he was wearing was badly damaged. Most of it looked like pieces of leather stitched together. Not elegant but perhaps functional. "Why are you here? Why did the King and Queen of Light send you?" Arnakkhor asked. "Underhill sent us. To my knowledge, the Court of Light and the king and queen you remember have been gone a long time," Skye said. "To be more accurate, Underhill sent Skye. The rest of us are here to support him. This may sting," Chaz sprayed something over a deep slash on the Arnakkhor's leg. "How is that possible? You're a dragon," Arnakkhor objected as his body clenched with the pain of what Chaz was doing. "Yeah, that keeps freaking people out or rather freaking out the fae. Seems dragons 'are' fae and Underhill had no problem making me it's errand boy. I know it's a lot to take in. I promise we'll answer all your questions. So, you are the king of the dark fae?" Arnakkhor gave a forced laugh. "For what it's worth. When we arrived, I was consort and enforcer for the Queen of Air and Darkness, and yes, the king. That all changed quickly when my love died on our third day. The rest of the mages followed within a week. There is no kingdom here, dragon, just another level of hell." "I am sorry. We can still save those who have survived, but we need to get you back to your village so you can convince them to leave. This planet, or at least where your people are, is going to be buried in lava and flames." "Back to Earth?" Arnakkhor's disbelief was clear. His breathing sounded better now, but Skye wanted to check him over for himself when Chaz was done. "Well, Underhill to start, which is now on Draga," Skye said. "That's where we thought we were going when they sent us here." "I'm sorry about that, but Underhill wants you back." Skye could feel the strong emotions pouring off the elf, even if he didn't say a word. In the brief time they'd spent on this planet, he couldn't imagine how it would feel to finally have hope, having been here as long as the exiles. "Rest for a minute; I'd like to do a check for myself just to make sure you don't have any hidden injuries," Skye said moving in closer. "Are you a healer?" Arnakkhor asked. "In training, I'd guess you'd say. It isn't my magical gift if that's what you mean, but I am able to do some minor stuff." Chaz snorted. "Minor. Yeah..." Skye glared at the were-dagger but couldn't help but break into a smile. He turned his focus back to the elf and pulled his other sight. After a thorough look, Skye felt comfortable that Chaz had found all the problems, and none were life-threatening. "Excuse me, Skye," Gilian said from behind him. "Yeah, Gilian, what did you find?" "There isn't a place near where we can all be together, but we can be close. If we move up a little higher, there are several ledges big enough to hold the dragons. There's also a good spot for a lookout. Mica's ready to move when you are." "Arnakkhor, is there any threat we need to be worried about?" Skye asked. "You can call me Arnak, and no, there shouldn't be anything other than the beetles. Most of the creatures have moved away from the area. What the blast and poison air didn't get, the lava and tremors have driven away. The flows are spreading, and there are more tremors each day." "Okay. Gil, can you let Mica know to be really careful when we move... him." Skye pointed at the unconscious elf as he tried to remember the name. "By morning I think he'll be okay to fly. We'll probably need to strap him in somehow, maybe to Kuai." "Got it." Gilian was gone in seconds, easily leaping from rock to rock back to Mica. "I've forgotten what it was like." Arnak's gaze followed Gilian and then returned to Skye, looking him up and down. "You are all very... healthy..." Skye blushed when he felt Arnak's eyes on him. The lust wasn't strong, but it was there and Skye was suddenly very aware of not having a shirt. "I think you'll all be much better off once you're off this planet." **Do you feel a pull, Skye?** Garrett asked. **No. Not from either of them. And compared to our wing-mates, his lust and thoughts are quite mild. Not even as strong as Raphael's.** Skye took it for granted that Garrett was almost always with him in mind and spirit unless they consciously shielded. He looked from his mate back to Arnak and noted how Arnak examined his dragons and wondered if the elf had met others before his exile. "Have you dealt with dragons before, Arnak?" "Very little, though I met a few. The dragons who were on Earth kept to themselves and preferred the privacy of their lairs. My people often had more encounters than the Court of Light since we have many who like caves and remote places. I often warned my people to be wary; dragons are even craftier than elves. When we departed Earth, some of my people chose to stay with the dragons. Do you know if they survived?" "No, I'm sorry, I don't. Gillian or Raphael may know, we can ask them. I'm sorry again for what you've been through. It doesn't sound like your experience with dragons was very positive." Skye was hoping the elf would trust him. "My experiences were mixed. But at the time, we both shared a distrust of the seelie King and Queen. You and the others, you've been to our village?" "Not exactly. We were detained when we came through the portal. From there, we came to find you and never made it to the village," Skye explained. "Ah. You met Valters. How did you know to look for me, or where I'd be?" There was an edge to the question, and Skye knew from his thoughts that Arnak was suspicious. "Not from Valters if that's why you're worried. I'm pretty sure he'd have much rather killed us all and been done with it." Arnak tensed, and his gaze was piercing. "Yes. He is diligent at protecting our people if nothing else. Who?" "I don't want you to be angry or get anyone in trouble-" Skye began "Who?" Arnak demanded. "Jhaeros. He said his mother had a vision, and he interceded, going so far as to step between me and Valters." Arnak smiled, and his eyes lit. It reminded Skye of Pater's reaction when he was pleased with one of them. "I expect Valters was not pleased. A vision about what?" "They didn't share details, just tried to convince Valters that we were here to save them." Skye caught the others in his peripheral vision and saw they were carefully moving the night elf. Chaz and Kuai were holding him and lifting him onto Mica. "Looks like we're moving." Arnak turned to look, and Skye could feel the tension rise. He couldn't really fault him for being worried. If it were River who was wounded and being moved, Skye would have been all over them. "You think he'll recover?" Arnak asked. "I do. Of course getting him back to Underhill would be ideal. Then we could have real healers look at him. I uh... take it you didn't have healers?" Arnak gave a derisive snort. "We did. They died quickly. Almost as fast as the mages. We've lost so many. Had you taken much longer, there would have been no one left to rescue." "I'm sorry. Jhaeros said there were others. Do you have any way to contact them?" Skye asked. "Skye, sir... we're ready to move. We'd like to be settled before full dark." Chaz stood a few feet off as he spoke. "Once we're settled, we'll take turns shifting and eating and set a watch." **Garrett, can you fly us? Arnak still looks a little shaky, so I can hang on to him.** **Of course. Mica put us on the largest outcropping. So we'll share with River and Nik. I think it safest if we put the elves in between us.** Skye stood and offered a hand to Arnak. "Have you ridden on a dragon before?" "No, and I'm not sure that I'm looking forward to it," Arnak looked at Rett skeptically, and Skye could see that to anyone who hadn't been around them, a dragon while beautiful also triggered that part of your brain that said "run." "We're only doing a quick jump, and I'll hold onto you, I promise. It isn't safe to stay here. We need to be up where the beetles can't reach us." "And to answer your question, I cannot reach the others easily. I usually send runners," Arnak said. Skye helped Arnak up onto Garrett and sat behind the elf, wrapping his arms around him as they leaped into the air. "Relax. I have you." Moments later they touched down, and Skye felt the tension ease in Arnak's body. As others came to help Arnak to the ground, Skye knew that Arnak had been pushed beyond his limits. They gave him some rations and put him and his brother with Nik and River. They arranged themselves head to tail and spread their wings, making a protective enclosure for the elves. "Rest, Arnak. You and your brother will be safe and warm," Skye assured him before stepping out and letting Nik pull his tail back in to shield them. **Thank you, guys. Try and get some sleep, Mica has the others taking shifts to watch for any problems,** Skye sent as he ran his hand along River's spikes. **Love you, bro. Good job today,** River sent. **You too, tell Storm he was awesome.** River's dragon let out a purr as he nuzzled in closer to his mate. * Scene 4 * **I'll have Gilian and Corbin take first watch. You doing okay?** Mica's dragon was perched on a ledge below Skye and Garrett. His long golden neck was stretched out as he turned to look up at Skye. **Yeah. Hopeful. So far it seems like Arnak is going to work with us. I mean, he didn't freak out or argue. Not sure if you heard him say, but he doesn't have an easy way of reaching out to the other unseelie.** **Of course not, that would be too easy.** Mica's dragon let out a deep rumbling sigh. **And then there's that one. I thought his eyes were going to pop out of his head when he saw Bryan shift to human. We need him focused.** Mica gestured with his head toward Raphael. **I don't know, do you think it would make things better or worse? He's pretty, and from what I've picked up from the wing, any of you but Gilian would be more than willing to help him out.** **Please, Skye. I keep telling you-dragons-duh.** Garrett let out a snort as he put his head back down, trying to get comfortable on the ledge. **Chaz is a were-dagger, not a dragon,** Skye reminded his mate. **Mm-hm, 'your' were-dagger might as well be a dragon as horny as you keep him. Though I think he's ready to shift things up, maybe let you ride him for a bit.** **Garrett!** Skye turned and glared at his mate. Even in dragon form, Skye swore Rett was smirking. **You should shift and cuddle with me. I'm tired,** Garrett sent. **Soon, I want to check on something first.** Skye walked past Garrett and slowed so he didn't disturb the others. He saw Gilian and Raphael talking near the cliff face. It was quiet enough that he didn't even have to use his telepathy to augment hearing their conversation. "Wild day, huh?" Gilian asked, stepping in close to Raphael. "I think I know why you left the Rangers now. That was wild." "Riding a dragon is pretty amazing, but the Empire also treats us well. I'm better paid, have better benefits and perks, and they don't act like they own me. Not to mention the excitement and places I get to see." "You trying to recruit me?" Raphael asked. "That's up to you. But you should know a lot of what we've been told about the Empire were lies. Just want you to know that there are options. But anyway, we ought to bunk down. I doubt tomorrow will be a walk in the fae forest." "Yeah, the rock looks so comfortable." "Better than being eaten by those beetles or swallowed whole by that worm thing. You know, if you want... we could maybe keep each other warm and make our own heat." Gilian closed the distance with Raphael and pushed up against him, pinning him to the rock face. "Gilian... I uh... pixie tits. Damn. It was a sham. Okay, it was all fake. I'm sorry but I'm not really into you." Skye almost snorted in laughter before he caught himself. The confession was so exasperated and heartfelt, and so unnecessary. "Really. You sure? I could make you feel so good. You've been telling me you wanted to..." Gilian went on. "I lied. I did it so word would get back to my parents, and they wouldn't suspect I liked men. There, I said it." Raphael covered his face with his hands when Gilian stepped back. "Yeah. I know, but I wanted you to tell me. But you owe me, Raphael. All those years you harassed me are going to cost you. And I assure you I will collect." Gilian turned to walk away. "Wait, what do you want?" "Oh, sweet cheeks, I'll tell you, don't worry, but when the time is right. Sleep well." Okay, Mistral. I guess that's our signal. **Guys, if it's okay with Gilian, I thought maybe we needed to help out Raphael.** **Skye, that's so sweet. We throwing him a 'boner' so to speak? And I'm fine with it. I got what I needed,** Gilian teased. **Father Dragon, Gil, that was bad. I mean really bad,** Corbin groaned. **I noticed he rather likes staring at our ginger, especially his bits,** Chaz added. **Bryan, how would you feel about some personal time with the sexy elf Ranger?** **What? Me?** Skye changed to a private line with Bryan because he got the distinct impression something was embarrassing the dragon. **Are you interested? I know you kinda have a thing for elves and Raphael is a very pretty elf.** **I am, but having Gilian involved and encouraging it worries me. Not that I expect her to acknowledge we've been together or anything but pushing me off, feels strange. Last time she threatened to gut me if I ever mentioned our um... time together with anyone. Shit, I just did, didn't I? Please don't tell her. The sex is good but I don't expect it to ever be more and...** **Bryan, you're rambling. I can't claim to know all Gil's reasoning, but I can say that in her mind, she's fine with you being with Raphael. There's no agenda in her thoughts. Besides, Raphael seems to have eyes for you and is having trouble focusing. We need him back in the game. You up for it?" **Elf booty? Damn right I am. But there's nowhere even a little private if you know what I mean. Wait, is he gonna be a wing-mate? Did your magic notice him?** **Nope, no pull. But that doesn't mean we can't take care of him. Also, I'm a bit paranoid since he was in the vision Underhill sent. Garrett and I can give you some privacy like Nik and River did for Arnak and his brother. We'll want the non-dragons sleeping undercover so just leave him with us when you're done.** **Father Dragon, make it sound cold, why don't you?** **I doubt he'll be anywhere near cold with you, Bryan.** Skye smiled as he felt Bryan's reaction to the praise. Skye returned to Garrett and slid out of the tactical pants Chaz had loaned him. He folded them carefully and set them out of harm's way as he let Mistral take over. **So magnificent,** Garrett sent as Skye took up position with his mate. Sky nuzzled Garrett's tail and used it as a pillow as they created a 'dragon cave' between them spreading their wings so they overlapped. He turned his head into the center so he could help Bryan. He trusted Garrett to watch for any threats that got past their guards. Hm. It's rather dark, Mistral. You think I could spare some magic to make a few soft lights? 'It won't take much magic. Maybe some floating hand fire. Good thing we practiced it,' Mistral said. Skye felt Bryan's approach and lifted his tail so he and Raphael could enter the dragon cocoon they'd created. "Wow," Raphael said. "I know. He's such a show-off. But you've got to admit, it's cozy," Bryan said. "How can there be fairy lights when there is no magic?" Raphael asked. "Dragons have magic. Skye's pretty good with it if you didn't guess. Just don't ask River, it's a touchy subject. Can we stop talking about the lights and get you naked?" Bryan asked. "But he can see and hear everything..." "So?" Bryan asked in confusion. "He'll close his eyes if you ask, I'm sure. And it's not like he doesn't know what we're doing. He invited us in after all." "I guess." Skye watched as Raphael undressed, insisting on doing it himself rather than let Bryan help. Bryan, having just shifted, was already naked. He let his eyes partially close so he didn't seem to be staring at the pair. With Mistral's heightened senses, it was easy to smell their arousal. Raphael carefully spread out his clothing on the rock and then approached Bryan, stepping into his arms. They kissed and Bryan's strong arms wrapped around Raphael, his hands gripping the elf's ass. **Any particular requests?** Bryan mentally asked Skye. **No. I may help out if that's all right with you. He might not be a wing-mate, but I can't help feeling that he's somehow important. Having him decide that dragon dick is the best might be in our favor.** **My ass is better...** Bryan sent. **Your ass 'is' amazing, Bryan, but your dick is good too, and that's what I need you to use,** Skye sent. **You got it.** Bryan kissed down Raphael's slender body, taking the elf's cock into his mouth and sucking until Raphael was moaning. 'Like we did with Queen Caladwen?' Mistral asked. Not quite but using the same approach. I don't need to be touching him to help things along. So we'll start by getting that tight little hole of his loosened up. A bit of massage on his spot and those rings and Bryan's tongue can finish him off, Skye thought to his dragon. Bryan guided Raphael to the ground and continued working his cock while his hands roamed over the lean, pale body. He's as pretty as he was in the dream, Skye thought. 'If his hair were loose, he'd look the same, Skye. I think it means something that Underhill included him when we'd never even met before,' Mistral said. I agree. My gut tells me that eventually that elf will be mated to a dragon. "Fuck me already," Raphael whimpered. "But I haven't even started on your hole..." Bryan said. "Ugh..." Bryan turned Raphael over to be on his hands and knees and buried his face between the round globes of the elf's ass. Skye continued to stimulate the elf and added stimulation of the elf's little pink nipples as well. I want to make this really good for him. "Please, Bryan," Raphael begged. Bryan looked over at Skye and winked. Getting himself into position, he stroked his thick cock and put on a little show for Skye. Rubbing his hand over his muscled pec and pinching one of his dragon nipples. **Just know, I'm doing this for you,** Bryan sent to Skye. **Yeah, sure, Bryan. And thank you for showing off. You are very handsome.** Skye meant it. While not as delectable as his mate, Bryan did have admirable muscles and a nice thick cock. Skye watched as Bryan worked his way in, filling the elf. "Yes! So big!" Raphael cried out. **Sounds familiar,** Garrett whispered into Skye's mind as he nipped at Mistral's tail. **Mm-hm. I may have said that a time or two.** **Nah, I think every time,** Garrett teased. **Careful, my mate. If you want to hear it again, you need to be good to me,** Skye sent. "Harder! Fuck, yes." Raphael's voice broke through Skye and Garrett's mental banter. **Help make him scream, babe. Would be nice to see the cocky little Ranger fucked into submission.** **He's not little, Garrett. And that was my plan. I figure I partially owe that to Gilian as well.** Skye returned his attention to the pair and continued to stoke Raphael's fire. **Why not give Bryan a little boost?** Garrett sent. 'Oh, I like that idea,' Mistral chimed in. Skye wasn't sure how many actions he could control at once but thought it was worth a try. He imagined the stimulation of Raphael's nipples and prostate continuing while adding the sensations of taking a large cock to Bryan's ass. Skye couldn't stop the short snort when he saw Bryan's reaction. His eyes flew open, and he groaned as he slammed harder and harder into Raphael. His expression was one of rapture. **Huh. Seems our ginger dragon likes the feeling of being in the middle,** Skye sent to Garrett. **He's not the only one. This is really working me up, Skye. We better figure out a way to be together soon. Either that, or I get a turn with that elf.** **Patience, my love.** Skye knew both of them had to be getting close and was rewarded as Raphael let out a scream. That's the way... now to make sure this orgasm lasts until you think you see the Western shore. "Father Dragon!" Bryan roared. The sound of flesh smacking against flesh echoing off the dragons surrounding him. Skye finally released Raphael when he was fairly certain the elf was on the edge of consciousness. **That was amazing, Skye. Thank you for making it happen.** Bryan pulled out of Raphael, his thick cock still hard and dripping with dragon seed. **Elves are messy.** Skye's laugh was loud enough to even make Raphael jump. **Yes, not all races keep things as neat and tidy as dragons and dragon-bonded.** Bryan walked over and wrapped his arms around Skye's snout, laying a gentle kiss on the end. **You'll watch over him?** **Yes. Thanks for taking one for the team.** **Anytime, Skye. Anytime.** Bryan ducked out as Skye lifted his tail enough to create an opening. Skye enjoyed the parting view of Bryan's muscled ass. He held still for a moment as he felt Kuai's presence and watched as he stepped in. "Hey, done with guard duty for tonight. Mind if I sleep in here?" Kuai asked out loud. "Sure, but there's a sweet dragon-seed-filled ass waiting for you." Skye tried to whisper but even so his dragon voice rumbled like thunder. Kuai's eyes landed on Raphael and Skye heard him sigh. He switched back to telepathy. **No one else has to know. Go on...** Skye encouraged his wing-mate. He wasn't certain he understood what was going on between Kuai and Bryan but he knew their wing brother wanted to taste Bryan's spend. Kuai cautiously approached the prone elf and stared for a moment before dropping to his knees and putting his face into the recently fucked ass. Soon, his moans of pleasure could be heard, shortly followed by Raphael's. **You really want him addicted to dragon dick, don't you?** Garrett asked. **Oh, I do. But two dragons in one night isn't all that much for a beginner.** Skye reached out to help revive Raphael. He wanted to make sure the elf enjoyed this and that included being awake for his second fuck. 'Only considerate,' Mistral agreed. * Scene 5 * Skye leaned back against Garrett, choking down their morning rations. The feel of Garrett's skin and the braids against his back made him want to do other things so badly. "He stirred yet?" Garrett asked. Skye glanced over to where Raphael was still curled up on his clothing. "Nope." From what Skye had picked up before the elf passed out, he was pretty sure they'd been successful in pulling the pretty elf to the dragon side. "You dragons are really making me question my life choices." Arnak walked up and sat near Skye and Garrett. He didn't even try to hide the perusal he did of their naked bodies. "Why's that?" Skye asked. "I've never been a lover of men, but seeing so many stunning examples and all naked and without a shred of self-consciousness, it's daunting. And I'm not sure how to explain it, but it's almost like there's something in the air." "I agree, they are handsome." Skye smiled. "Can I ask, what are the markings on your arms?" Arnak asked. "Bond-mate markings. When dragons bond with a human as life-mates, we each get complimentary images of our dragons. They are not ink, and sometimes you'll see them change position or move," Garrett explained. "Magic. Still freaks me out at times," Skye admitted. "I never saw them on the dragons I met before my exile. I don't know if they didn't exist or were kept covered." Arnak shook his head and stared across the expanse below. "Once everyone has had a chance to eat and relieve themselves, we'll leave for your village," Garrett shared. "There is a settlement between here and the village where I'd like to stop if we could. The dwarves have a home in the mountains several leagues south," Arnak said. Dwarves? Really? Skye wanted to voice his curiosity but figured he could just as easily wait and see for himself. "Shouldn't be a problem. Would we need to make camp? I hate to jostle your brother around anymore than we have to," Skye asked. "No, and your dragons will not be able to fit into their tunnels. But this way, I do not need to send a runner back and waste the time," Arnak said. "I'll let Mica know. Is there a way to identify where?" Garrett stood brushing the dust off of his backside. A very sexy, round backside that looked so tempting, Skye thought. "There is an unusual rock formation. I should be able to spot it from the air," Arnak said. "When you see it, let Chaz know, and he'll get word to the rest of us," Garrett said. "How can he do that?" Arnak looked between Skye and Garrett in confusion. "I'm a telepath, and my wing-mates have the ability to mind-speak me," Skye said standing. "I can speak mind-to-mind with most people but won't subject you to that unless you're okay with it." "Dragons are much more interesting than I recall. And my brother? Any change?" "The rest helped. He's not well, but I don't think he's in danger, and there were no signs of infection. I believe getting him to Underhill as soon as we are back would be best. If that's okay?" Skye asked. "Of course, and then I want to make sure my mate and my son follow soon after. I can't bear the thought of them being in this hell one moment longer than necessary." "May I assume Jhaeros's mother is your second wife?" Skye asked. "Yes. I took Allanna as a mate several months after the queen passed." "We'll make sure to get them to Underhill as soon as we can." Skye assured Arnak. "Different attitude than Valters, right Skye?" Garrett said. "He means well, and he's an excellent soldier, but we have an unpleasant history. This exile has made it difficult for many to hold any hope, and I've had to watch many of our people turn in on themselves and wither." "Yeah, I can only imagine. I'll go talk to Mica." Garrett walked to the edge and leaped, transforming into his dragon in mid-air. His gold scales glistened in the morning sun. "He's a show-off," Skye said admiring his mate. "Trying to impress his mate, I'd guess." "Mm. It works. I'll do everything I can, Arnak, to get your people back to Underhill. We'll just have to figure out how to gather the others. Perhaps when we return to your village we can strategize?" "Ready?" Chaz walked up and stood at attention. "What about..." Skye turned to look for Raphael and saw that he was already gone. "Can't say that I am ready," Arnak admitted with a frown. "Skye is one of the safest dragons you could ride. I'll also be holding on to you. In the worst-case scenario, if you were to fall, spread yourself out-face down-and Skye will catch you," Chaz said. "That did not help," Arnak muttered as Chaz pulled him back to give Skye room to shift. Skye let Mistral take over and stretched out into his dragon form, extending his wings. 'Feels good,' Mistral cooed. 'I love to fly.' Me too, Skye thought back to his dragon as he waited for Chaz and Arnak to climb on and get settled. It didn't take long before they were in the air and soaring above the desolate landscape. It seemed that they were barely in the air when Arnak signaled Chaz and indicated where they needed to land. In the brief flight, they'd seen no evidence of more swarms or any of the worms. Skye landed and extended his foreleg to allow Chaz and Arnak an easier dismount. This time he wasn't planning to shift. "I hope to return shortly. I don't know if Gramthor will easily believe me. Is it acceptable for me to bring him to the surface and show him the dragons?" Arnak asked Chaz. **That's fine, Chaz. Determine a time-frame because if he doesn't come back, we're going after him,** Skye sent to Chaz. "That will be fine. How long do you need, Arnak?" Chaz asked. "Give me a candle mark. I should be able to get to him in that time. If I'm not back by high sun, assume I'm not returning." Arnak turned and disappeared into the small cave opening in the rocks. The dragons stretched out and enjoyed the warmth of the sun. A couple of times they got the strange agitation, followed by a tremor, but none of them were severe. River was the most restless, having convinced himself that beetles were going to swarm them at any moment. Skye felt Arnak returning before he heard anything. He was surprised that it was enough to register, but once he felt it, he could also feel that there were others with the elf. **Arnak is returning with others,** Skye sent to the wing. He figured someone would let Raphael know since he had forgotten to include him. Arnak stepped out onto the rocks and blinked as his eyes adjusted. He was soon followed by three dwarves. Honest to goodness, movie-quality dwarves. **Um... Skye, shouldn't they be wearing leather and shields, and shit?** River sent. The dwarves in question were mostly naked with the exception of loincloths. But they were still the four-foot burly, muscled men of fantasy lore, with long beards and hairy bodies to match. "We are honored to make your acquaintance, good sirs. I am Chaz Blackclaw, Imperial Guard in service to the Empire and Prince Skye." "Dragons!" one of the dwarves barked. "Flamin' dragons and damn, there's... what? Seven of them? Wow, when the king wants you dead, Arnakkhor, he doesn't mess around." "If you'll forgive me, my lord, but we're here to rescue King Arnakkhor, not kill him," Chaz explained. The dwarf in question let out a loud guffaw and slapped his leg. "Lord? Okay, this is a dream. Too many mushrooms for me, I guess." The dwarf turned to go back toward the opening. "He is correct. We're here to return the dark fae to Underhill." Skye's dragon voice boomed. The dwarf turned and stood quietly for a moment. "I told you, Gramthor. It is too unexpected for me to make up," Arnak said. Gramthor, who'd been the one to speak turned to the other dwarves and whispered for a moment. "My good sense tells me to run the other way. But we have to leave our mountain regardless. As I showed Arnakkhor, the mountains have reclaimed over half our tunnels, filling them with her fiery breath and spittle. It is no longer safe to breathe, and the heat is unbearable. We shall journey to the village on our way south. If the portal is indeed reopened, then we shall see." Gramthor looked across at the dragons and paused. "Yes, we shall see. Good travels, Arnakkhor, we have preparations to make." The dwarves turned and re-entered the cave. "I've done as much as I could. We need to move on. From what I saw in the caves, we have even less time than I thought," Arnak said, walking over to Chaz. * Scene 6 * The return flight to the village filled them with uncertainty and dread. Not long after they'd left the dwarves, they'd started seeing swarm after swarm of the scarabs making their way south. The same direction as they flew. There had to be thousands and worse they'd seen more than a score of the large worms moving in the same direction. On their brief stop for lunch and a break, Arnak had said that most of the herds that fed their people and provided hides for clothing had either fled or been consumed by the beetles. Even the streams and water supplies had started drying up. It was getting to be late in the day, and they hoped to reach the village by nightfall. Skye was letting Mistral do the work and was trying to focus on ways they might get word to the other fae. Arnak had mentioned at least twelve other groups who'd split off from the night elves. It was when Skye was deep in thought that he felt the jolt. **What? Did anyone else feel that?** Skye sent. **Skye?** a familiar voice filled his mind. **Teak? Teak is that you?** **Hey, bossman! Did ya miss me?** **What the hell? Teak why are you here... in this desolate hell. I told you to go back to the palace.** Skye knew he was mentally shouting but what if Teak got hurt. What if Valters decided to take revenge? **Well, you got trumped. Prince Argos said if I didn't get my ass back here to help you, he'd clip my wings. So, here I am!** **But...** Well shit, of course Pater would... ugh. **Garrett!** **Sorry, my love. I do not control my fathers.** **Oh, and Skye I brought friends and shit with me. We are gonna have so much fun. Your connection is getting stronger. You headed this way?** **We should be there before nightfall. Stay safe and don't trust anyone.** **Aw, almost sounds like you care,** Teak teased. **Do you think he may have been sampling the mushrooms. This doesn't sound like Teak,** Garrett sent to Skye. **I have no idea. Let's just get back.** Skye shifted his mind voice back to the whole wing. **Teak, who or what did you bring with you?** **Pixie tits, Skye. A guy has to have some surprises. See you soon. We've got some ugly bug thingies to kill.** Oh, God. Skye moaned. * Scene 7 * The scene when they finally reached the village did not look good. It was also too quiet. Skye couldn't get on the ground fast enough and opened his shields wide, searching for Teak and any of the elves who might have survived. Skye let out a huge sigh of relief, and a cloud of dust blew up around his dragon. He'd found them and Teak was alive. Now to see him in person. Once Chaz and Arnakkhor had dismounted, Skye shifted and ran toward where they'd left their gear. The gate wasn't open, but standing nearby were Noud and Bram. But this time they were fully decked out in full Imperial Battle Armor. If he hadn't felt them in his mind, he wouldn't have recognized the Queen Mother's guards. "Prince Skye," Noud called out in greeting. "Thank God. Is everyone okay?" Skye called back as he found the pile of clothes and boots just as they'd left them. He quickly dressed and started to worry since neither of the elves had answered. "We had some losses before we knew what was going on. But most came through just fine," Bram said. "Where's Teak?" Skye knew he was nearby; he could feel him. "Right here, bossman." Skye turned and gasped. If Teak hadn't removed his helmet, he wouldn't have believed it was him. He was also in full battle armor, and in his hands was a Mech Assault Photon Rifle. A weapon Skye knew was designed to take out mecha and in a pinch could take out a small ship. "Um... Teak, what are you holding?" "A gun. Isn't it cool!" Teak waved it toward Skye, and Skye fought the urge to drop to the ground. "And you know how to use it?" Skye asked, getting more worried by the second. Who gives a fairy an assault weapon? "Sure, you pull this trigger thingy here," he helpfully gestured, "and BOOM things blow up." "Teak, you aren't acting quite like yourself, are you okay?" "I can explain," a new voice said from behind Skye causing him to scream and jump. "What the ever-loving fuck? Jayce you are supposed to be in the elf palace!" "Haha, you sounded like River just then. You know that, right?" Teak pointed out. Skye took a deep breath, and thankfully Garrett showed up and stepped close, wrapping his arms around Skye. "Explain, please." There see Mistral that came out almost normal. "Prince Argos thought I would be more of use here, and I can open the portal. Teak contacted Prince Argos as soon as he returned and then Bram and Noud arrived with Kessalee. The Emperor, Prince Argos, the Admiral, and the Master Mage all descended on the elf palace. Then Bram and Noud explained everything they'd seen and what was happening, and then there were all these meetings and secret sessions, and you know, decisions were made. Then Kessalee recovered enough to talk and more meetings..." "In a day?" Skye couldn't imagine how. "Skye, it's been over a week," Jayce said, looking like Skye might hit him. "Ugh. Okay, what about Teak, what's wrong with Teak?" Skye gritted his teeth. "I'm fine, bossman. Never better. Wanna hear how many crawlies I killed?" "Not yet, Teak. Please let Jayce finish." "Underhill sent more dreams after you left. Seems Underhill wanted us to be here and wanted Venci on the other side in Underhill helping with processing the dark fae when they come through. Oh, and Teak was really nervous and freaking out because while he's great with all the tech, he's never worn armor and was never trained on how to fight or protect himself." "I'm good at sneaky stuff. I'm not good at look them in the eyes and bam. I'm a... you know, behind the scenes kinda fairy," Teak helpfully explained. "Yeah, so Colonel Devroe gave Teak these little red pills. I don't know what they are or where he got them. He just told Teak that if he got really scared to take one." "I took a bunch! Damn, do I feel good!" Teak was smiling so broadly Skye wondered if maybe he had cracked. **Holy shit, Garrett, bad enough they gave him an assault rifle, who in their right mind thought it was a good idea to drug a fairy?** "Skye, he's been amazing. I know he seems excited, but his kill rate is amazing and honest, he did get a crash course in how to use his weapon. And he's got the best armor we have." "Isn't she awesome? I named her Blossom." Teak petted the rifle like it was a puppy. "Teak, you disturbingly sound a lot like Willow," Skye said, eyeing the rifle nervously. "You take that back!" Teak demanded, glaring and gripping the rifle tighter. Skye walked over to Teak and tried to ignore the rifle as he pulled the fairy into a tight hug. "I'm glad to see you, Teak. I didn't mean it badly - you know I love Willow. Thank you for coming to help. Now, will you promise me you won't take any more of the red pills unless you ask me first, and I tell you it's okay to do so?" "Well, I guess. But I'm not a fighter and the little pills..." "Please, promise me, Teak." Skye looked into Teak's wild eyes and cringed a little. "Okay. But I still get to use Blossom, right?" "Yes. You can keep us safe." Crap, Mistral, what did they do to him? Do you think he'll be okay? 'We could push the toxins from him, but I think we'd be better off letting them work through his system. This is not a good place, Skye. Being like this may help him survive.' "Skye, Arnak already headed to the village. He asked that we not do anything with his brother yet. The rest of the guys got changed, and Mica sent Chaz and Corbin with him," Garrett said. "Maybe we should ask what's in all those crates. They weren't here before." "The Emperor insisted on sending supplies. There's food and water rations along with more weapons, additional armor for the wing, and some other tech stuff they thought we might need. Teak knows how to use and set up all the tech," Jayce said. "There's even a beacon!" Teak shared excitedly. Skye looked at Jayce hoping to get an insight. "With what Bram and Noud reported, the Emperor's team thought it was possible that this planet could still be in the same dimension, just in a different solar system. The beacon, which we haven't had time to set up, will send out a signal that the fleet could pick up. I guess it's sort of a backup plan. Teak knows how to get it going." Jayce finished and watched Skye and Garrett expectantly. "Oh, I almost forgot! Shadow man gave me something to give to you." Teak reached into one of the pockets on his tactical pants and pulled out a small drawstring bag. Skye took it and opened the pouch. He pulled out one of the chits inside and held it up. "What is it?" The small coin-sized piece began glowing in his hand. "No idea. He just said you'd need them." "Those are mythcite and..." Raphael held out his hand, and Skye gave him one of the chits. "The glyph is the elvish symbol for hope. Or rather the old-old-elvish. This is carved into many of the older structures. Often over the entrance to gardens or ceremonial structures. Mythcite glows when it's warm." "And the significance of mythcite, if any?" Skye asked. "To my knowledge, it is only found in Underhill," Raphael said, handing the chit back to Skye. "We should ask Arnakkhor, but it might be a token to help convince the others that what we're saying is real," Garrett suggested. **Skye, you may want to come into the village. The elders and Arnakkhor are in the largest hut. Sort of like their central meeting hall. I think you might be able to help him convince them that we're telling the truth.** Corbin sent interrupting their conversation. **We're on our way,** Skye responded, looking up and catching Mica's eye. "Teak, you and the others stay here and guard the supplies and the night elf," Mica said, glancing an Arnak's brother. "Skye, I'd suggest Gilian and Raphael remain here. Jayce can open the portal if they need to escape. Bryan and I will accompany you along with River and Nik." "Damn right," River added, glaring at Skye. Skye wasn't sure what he'd done this time, but he'd apparently done something that River was upset about. It took a few minutes to reach the village, and there was evidence in places that there'd been a battle. Along with occasional breezes which brought the stench of beetle guts. The meeting hall wasn't hard to find, and the sentries at the entrance eyed them skeptically as Skye's party approached. **Corbin, can Arnakkhor invite us in. The guards look a little skittish.** Within seconds Arnakkhor came to the entrance and called. "Prince Skye, please join us." When Skye reached the night elf, he handed him the pouch of chits. "These may help." Arnak opened the pouch spilling a few into his palm. He let out a gasp and then pulled Skye into a bone-crushing hug. "Thank you." They stepped in, and Skye saw the room was packed. In the center, a group of older night elves sat in a circle. In the center of the circle, Valters appeared to be arguing vehemently that the strangers should be killed without mercy. "Loyal elders, please. I have something else to show you." Arnak took two of the chits and passed them to the elders indicating they should look at them and pass them along. He turned and whispered to Skye. "Corbin says you can do magic light, is that true?" "Yes..." Skye answered. "Could you light this whole room?" Arnak asked. Skye looked around and thought about it, but he didn't see any reason why not. "Easily." "I'm going to extinguish the torches, when I've done so, please bring your light," Arnak whispered. "And to further prove my earlier points, please observe." Arnak methodically circled the room, dousing the torches. "What? You would have us sit in darkness, King Arnakkhor?" One of the elders asked. "Please, give me your patience for one moment." Arnak picked up the last torch and signaled Skye before dousing the flame. Here we go, Mistral. Skye pulled his magic and reached out, and using the support beams as anchors he brought forth the warm glow of handfire and illuminated the room. All around the meeting hall, the elves gasped and smiled in delight. "Now you have proof they have magic. You have the tokens from Underhill. It is time to go home," Arnak declared. The elders gave a loud ascent and stood. The only one who didn't look happy was Valters, who gave Skye the look of death. **Don't test me, Valters. I won't give a second warning,** Skye said into Valters' mind. Skye turned and almost ran into River. **You know, I could have done that,** River gave a wave at the magic lights. Skye couldn't help rolling his eyes as he left the meeting hall. End Chapter 47 | (Characters included below) Please donate to Nifty!
