Chapter 18 "Can we break free" shouted Jenkins. "I am trying, sir, but they have us locked out of our systems," the ensign replied. They tried in vain to break free, they tried modulating the frequency of their shields, but no joy, and then suddenly a voice came over the intercom, "People of the alien fleet, listen to me and take my word as I command. As long as you don't resist, you will come to no harm. If you continue to resist, I will have to make an example. Do not test me on this...trust me, you will regret it," the voice said, and then cut off communication. "Here this, relay this to all ships...stand down...repeat stand down," Jenkins ordered. "Sir" "I will not be the architect of earth's surviving members to be killed...stand down...that's an order!" Jenkins yelled and sat down hard in his seat. And the order was relayed around the entire fleet. "We just have to wait and see where they take us," Jenkins added. Back on Lokite... "Look, Sir, I know what I am saying sounds farfetched, but what do we have to lose?" I asked waiting on a favourable response. "Bobby, I do not know what to think," replied Levert. "Dad, I didn't know what to think of it either, but, to be honest, I sort of get it," Craig replied wrapping his arms around my waist. "Okay, can you two come back to the council and explain this to Kolmar and the head of security?" Levert asked and we agreed. 30 minutes later at the council... "You really expect us to believe that the Holy ones of Krile came here over a millennia ago and hid as trees," scorned Tran, the head of security. "Tran, can you think of anywhere they could be on the planet that we are not aware of?" asked the Prefect. "Sir, I will look into our archives and look for anything out of the ordinary," Tran replied. "Excuse me, but Moving trees, what is more out of the ordinary than that?" I scorned back. The discussion went on for hours and the tree idea was shot down in flames, Tran was taking the lead on this one and his ideas, as sound as they may be, discounting the wandering Forrest was a wrong decision. Craig and I left the council building and walked out of the city, we spotted Judak, "Hey Guys, why the glum faces?" he asked as he caught up to us. "Look, Judak, you might think I am crazy, but I think I might know where the Krile holy ones can be located," I said looking at him for ridicule but received none. "Spill?" he asked. "Earth term, where did that come from?" Craig asked, "Listening to you two," he replied, "So, come on then, explain," he asked. I explained all that I had told the council and the head of security and Levert. But received nothing but scorn from the head of security and the prefect backed his man. "Okay, so why don't we go check things out, and if we find out we are wrong, sorry, and if you are right, well then, you will be vindicated," he added. "Bobby, that's not actually a bad idea," Craig responded. And we headed to the last location the wandering forest was seen. And when we arrived we spotted the trees actually moving. "What now?" Judak asked. "We approach them and talk to them and see what happens," I replied. We walked down the hill and we could see the trees about 500 meters ahead of us. We walked faster to catch up to them and when we did, they stopped and rooted themselves back into soft earth. "Hello, my name is Bobby. This is Craiglessty from Lokite, and his friend Judak from Bokite. I, myself, come from a planet called Earth," I started and nothing... just silence. "I know you are Krile. We all know you are Krile. Look, the Lokite need your help, we all need your help," I went on. "Judak is from Bokite, you settled them there many years ago," I felt stupid talking to trees, but pressed on. "The Lokite's committed a terrible act against the Bokite, but you allowed it to happen, I have learned that you possess powers that could have prevented that from happening," I continued. "Can you please acknowledge that you understand me?" I demanded. "Look your none interference stance, the last time, cost hundreds of thousands of lives and if you do not help us, you would be guilty of a similar act!" I yelled, getting more frustrated by the second. "My people are traveling from Earth, our planet is almost uninhabitable, through stupidity, and the Lokites sought to help us. I know what their ancestors did was unforgivable, but those were different times, different people. "The Krile have made it their mission to destroy the Lokite, and see the people of Earth as an ally of the Lokite. Yes, we are, but of the Lokite that have showed nothing but compassion," I continued talking to a tree feeling like the head of security might be right. "Please, we are begging, Judak from Bokite will testify to our honesty and worthiness," I added. We stopped and just sat contemplating what we had said and done, obviously, talking to the trees was a bust, and we decided to walk back and start the search for the holy ones taking the head of securities idea and look for things out of the ordinary. We stood up and began to walk away when a mist started emanating from the Forest. "Craig, look," I said, watching the mist get thicker and closer. "What is it?" Judak asked, when a woman appeared from behind the front tree. She walked elegantly towards us. "My name is Collel, state your intensions." she spoke. "Madam, we have no intentions. We just need help in stopping a massacre," I replied. "The holy order will not intervene in petty squabbles," she replied. "Petty squabbles, my people were almost wiped out, because you stood by and allowed it," Judak spat out. "That no longer concerns us. We are at peace, and will not alter that state," she replied. "Arrogance," I replied, "What do you mean Arrogant? Are you not adult, capable of knowing right from wrong, good and evil? why should the holy order act like a parent stopping a squabble between siblings?" she retorted. "Collel, this is a bit more than a petty squabble; your people, and I mean YOUR people, want to punish the Lokite and all that ally themselves with them, to be annihilated," I responded. "They still blame the Lokite for the genocide of the Bokite, but that was a few generations ago, they should not be held accountable," I added. "Children will learn in time, they always do," she responded. "So that's it, let 2 million people die, because you see it as a minor squabble, you arrogant piece of..." I started but was cut off by Craig. "Bobby...Collel, what can we do for you to help us, we need your guidance and your wisdom...please, on behalf of all of our races, help!" Craig implored. "I will relay your plight to the holy ones, but I believe their stance will not alter," she finished and the mist returned and she vanished. "What now?" Judak asked "We wait" I replied. "Should we tell Levert and my Father?" I asked. "Couldn't hurt, but just them. Ask My dad to come here; perhaps he could reason with them" added Craig. Meanwhile Back with the fleet... Commander Jenkins was sitting in his ward room with some of his senior officers; "I wish we had some help from the cabinet," he started. "Sir we still do not know if the president and the Cabinet survived," Major Tanner informed him. "The fleet is massive and most have little or no communications; there are over twenty thousand with no contact, so we do not yet know who the survivors are," Tanner added. "Lokite will know that we have been taken by now," Jenkins informed them, "We were supposed to meet the escort yesterday, and we have been caught in this beam for almost 72 hours. Suddenly at the back of the fleet, a ship had slipped out of the tractor beam and headed away from the fleet. It gained pace and looked to make good its escape. But a flash of light from the lead ship of the Krile shot out and vaporised the ship, no doubt killing all on board. "Fuck! Stand down ...give that command again, ensign, stand down, at least 10,000 were on that ship, no more deaths, not on my fucking watch...fuck!" Jenkins spat out the order. And as soon as it was said, the voice over the intercom came through once again. "You were warned; we take no responsibility for those deaths, we told you no harm would befall you if you cooperated, and look what occurred, this action will happen again; obey me or take the consequences," the communication ended. "Bogan, will they stick by their word?" Jenkins asked. "Sir, we have only limited knowledge of their previous actions, but from our standpoint we have little option than to hope they are being honest," Bogan replied. The moral of the fleet was that of worry and concern, they feared for their very existence. Back on Lokite with the boys sitting close to the wandering forest... Craig watched as his dad approached with Major Barnes and Kolmar, "Father, Bobby was right, we have talked to a representative of sorts, called Collel, and she seems to think that this is little more than a petty squabble," Craig informed him. "Bobby, I apologise for not taking you seriously," Kolmar responded. "Sir, at the moment my feelings do not come into it. We need to have them see reason, if the Krile catch up with the fleet, we are in trouble." "The Krile have the fleet, our escorts reported them missing, so yeah, they have them," Levert replied. "Okay, we knew that was a possibility" I responded. "Okay, what happened when you approached the trees?" asked my dad. "Dad nothing, at first, but then mist rose, and she walked out," I replied. I walked over with my dad and Levert towards where she vanished. "Collel, can we talk, please? I have two prominent members of Lokite, can we talk to you please?" I asked. They stood, like before, and waited, Bobby holding Craig around the waist and snuggling his shoulder, Levert, deep in conversation with Kolmar and the Major. "Look!" yelled Judak. And the mist began to rise and not one but three white robed people walked out of the forest. Collel and two older men, looking very old, and we surmised that they must be two of the holy order of Krile. To be continued... Okay guys hope you are still getting this story.
