Date: Sun, 20 Jun 2021 12:49:44 +0000 (UTC) From: cgf2662 Subject: The Z-1 Ranch P-79 The Z-1 Ranch P-79 CGW© What's wrong grandfather asked little Augustus, the boy was growing up by the day. August had almost forgot what it was like to have a Genman child around. And with Augustus being a second-generation hybrid it did make any difference. He was still growing by the day; it didn't make August any difference what anyone thought about his grandson if they had something negative to say they need to saying it and then get the hell out of his way. Because if they stuck around too long, they would get an ear full and then some. Nothing boy, I'm just missing your dad and Zion. I can't wait to this tour is over and we can be a family for a while. But what if Zion decides to go live on the ranch with his family and he takes dad and I with him, what are you gonna do? I don't want to leave you here all by yourself who's going to watch after you. You know I pick up all the dirty clothes and wash the dishes, what would you do without me? I would manage, it would be lonely around here without you two but that's what parents do. We raise our children and when they grow up, they meet someone and then move off to start their own families. But I don't want to leave you, you're the only grandparent I have, just like dad is the only parent that I have. But when Zion and he get married then I'll have two parents. We will worry about that when the time comes Augustus, let's just enjoy the time that we have together. Grandfather, whatever happened to that pretty lady that you met at the concert. It seemed that she liked you a lot and you never smiled more. Augustus she is out of my league, you gotta understand she is someone very special in the Genman world and me being just a human, I can't measure up to her. So that's enough that, let's go fix lunch. The rehab for Erickson was going slow, but little Glen he was growing fast. Dillard and Griffin were both getting quite large and grumpy at times. Erickson slowly spoke, enjoy the time that you have. When the babies arrive, you will be very busy, Glen is very rambunctious but that's what I hybrid is, the best of both worlds. Griffin looked at his roommate, you have that right and you are so blessed to be able to enjoy it. I still don't know how to thank you for what you did for Giorgio and Glen but it was meant to be. Erickson smiled and said he was going to walk to the front porch and sit in the swing so that he could enjoy the sunset. Okay big dude, I'll help you out there. I'm not going to hold your hand but I will be there in case you need it to be braced on. I'll tell Giorgio that you're out front and he can join you as we watch the little guy. I know I need the time; Dillard is well-versed from helping raise his brothers but it is a community effort. Griffin helped Erickson out to the front porch to the swing and laid a blanket over his legs, they still got cold but being stabbed and over three months on laying your back recovering. That takes it out of a guy and it doesn't matter if you're human, hybrid or Genman it's tough on the body. Griffin came back in the house just as Giorgio came into the room from the kitchen, where is Erickson at? He is waiting for you out on the swing, I think Mr. romantic wants to watch the sunset with you. Uncle Dillard and Uncle Griffin will watch little Glen for y'all. So go out there and enjoy it, I know the two of you have earned it. Zahara was going through some things on her own. She could not get the human out of her mind; he was nice and he was polite. He treated her just like anyone else, that was something that she was not used to. It was not meant as an insult, but as a compliment. She needed to seek wisdom, maybe Mr. Ben could help her with her dilemma. Kris was growing like a stink weed, and he was a stinker. Jarvis and Franklin both had to calm him down all the time. Jarvis would always tell Ben, reminds me so much someone else at this age. You need to get a lid on that boy or he's gonna be a little hellion. Ben knew exactly what he meant, but with Zack's spoiling him at every corner and every turn it was hard. Zahara went to the mansion to call own Ben, when Jarvis opened the door, she could hear the high-pitched squealing of the ever-rambunctious Kris. Jarvis being ever so polite, my lady please accept my apology for master Kris, it seems that his father has given him candy once again and he is a little out of sorts. Zahara; smiled and asked if she might have an audience with Mr. Ben? I'm sure that he would welcome it, might I suggest a place a wee bit quieter, maybe the rose garden with all of its thorns will keep the little one at bay. I will show you there and have him join you momentarily. Jarvis showed Zahara to the gardens and made sure she had refreshments as he went to rescue Ben. Ben was very glad to get out of the house and leave the screaming child to his father who caused the entire mess. Good afternoon your highness, how may I help you and what did I do to have you grace us with your presence. Mr. Ben I'm no longer part of the royalty. I am from now on only Zahara a simple resident of the Z1 ranch. I'm part of the family here now. You might tell other people that get away with it but not for me, a princess just like you is born a princess and you will always be royalty in any Genman eyes so how can I help you. This is gonna seem strange, the gentleman that I met at the concert, his name was August Jessup I like to spend some time with him. How is it done here, I'm at a loss. So, we are sweet on the human, are we? I have certain feelings, whenever I think back to the concert and we sat together. Contrary to everything that I was ever told or taught, humans are a caring and loving race when it comes to their families. Living here on the Z1 and witnessing Genman families living in units I have discovered that the everyday Genman family is more than what we were ever told they could be. It is different here, and that's what the Genman love about it. They are not prisoners; they are not commodity items to be traded or to be bred for the strongest warrior. Here They have a freedom about themselves, choice and individuality. I know what you talk is the truth Mr. Ben, my heart goes out to the ones that are trapped in that way of life. But the royalty is too strong and they will never be free. But I want to know freedom myself, I have the right here to choose a mate of my choice. I am not dictated by terms or contracts of fulfillment. My brothers are doing great, they're all due soon. I fear to think of what their life would have been had we not been rescued that fateful day. So, could you tell me how I could meet the gentleman again? That's easy I can pick up a communicator and simply call him for a meeting. Let's say next Friday evening at 7 PM in the Township. Constantine's malt shop, you can start out with something simple that way you can both get to know each other. I'll get a hold of Zion and make sure that he and Claxon send for the boy that way August has no excuse of why he cannot attend. Ben thought there was no time like the present and he picked up his communicator and punched a few buttons and let it ring. The communicator was picked up, yes sir Mr. Ben is everything all right with my family. Yes, Zion your family is doing perfect, now place the communicator on speaker so that you and Claxon can both hear me. Yes, sir it is on communicator speaker now how can we help you? Claxon I need you to take Augustus next Friday, you two need to send for him and only him to join y'all for the weekend. Yes, sir is there something wrong with my father? No there's nothing wrong everything is right; it seems that your father doesn't know it but he has a date Friday at Constantine's. My father has a date? Who in the world wants to date my father? Zahara spoke up; I don't know if you remember me, I was sitting next to your father throughout the concert. I found him very appealing to be around. And I Zahara would like to have your permission to date your father. From the sound of the noise on the communicator somebody dropped it. I'm so sorry, Zion has problems with his fingers today it seems that he can't hold onto anything. Did you say you were my father's seat mate at the concert? Yes, I was. You mean the lady that Augustus could not stop talking about for the rest of the two days that we saw him. That is correct young man, I don't think we were formally introduced. In my other life I was known as Her Royal Highness Zahara of the Royal House of Ambridge and recently retired First Capt. of the Royal Genman Battle Battalion. I know it's a mouthful but that's what I was in a different life. Now you can just call me Zahara. Both boys were stunned and sputtering trying to talk. Now I see that I have caused a little confusion, so just take a deep breath and let it out. I need to know things about your father and your family Claxon. I don't know where to start, it was just me and my father all of my life. I've never had a dad, he figured that he wasn't parent material and within hour after birthing me he left and we have never seen nor heard from him since. But that's okay, my father was enough. Without him helping me with Augustus I don't know where I would be right now. Your father sounds like quite a responsible parent. Tell me does he see anyone? Between work, raising me and now helping raise Augustus when would he have time? Would it be okay with you if I were to entertain your father on a date? Your highness you have my permission, do whatever you want. Father deserves some time to be himself. Tell me how did your parents meet or did you never talk to your father about it? We spoke, during the time that I was expecting Augustus we had a lot of talks. Father didn't really fit in with the human crowds he tried to do what everyone expected. He dated human females, even when out on a couple of dates with other human males but that never went anywhere. He stopped a club one night; this was a new progressive club that let humans and Genman mingle. He said he met my dad and there was something in the air that attracted him to dad. I found out now it was just pheromones because dad was starting his heat cycle. One thing led to another and the next morning when they were in bed I was conceived. Father said dad was not pleased, he didn't realize that he could be caught with his fertile eggs down by a human his first time. Nine months later I was born and abandoned by my dad, father never wavered I was his world. When I was assaulted in college and left with Augustus in my body, father didn't change he supported me 150%. He told me no matter what it brought we would work together and he would help me survive. He taught me so much about life, coach came over the night I gave birth and he helped just like he helped bring me to the world. I never blamed anyone for what happened, and I never ever blamed Augustus. That boy is my life. From the sounds, it seems that you were your father's life also. So, without any farther discussions I will be waiting on your father at Constantine small shop next Friday at 7 PM for a date. He will think he is meeting someone else from the Z1. So, I hope he is not too disappointed. Your highness; he could never be disappointed after seeing you waiting. Make your arrangements and I will call him and have Augustus delivered here to the hotel, where Zion and I along with Madame are staying on our final leg. Thank you so very much Claxon and you too Zion, I look forward to hearing you play here at the Z1 again in the future. Goodbye. Zahara was very excited that the call went as well as it did. I just forgot about something, what should I wear? Don't worry about it we are going to Sonja's. She will fix you up you will look spectacular for your rendezvous. What is this rendezvous? Special date, I know I use words that you don't normally know, but were going to have you read dictionaries and encyclopedias so that you can learn some of the other phrases that are used out here. Now I think I need to get back inside as much as I hate to, I hope I have a home to go back to. Does he always act so spontaneous? Believe it or not Kris is quite calm as long as his father doesn't give him sugar-based candy, it is a Hybrids worst nightmare. They cannot process the imbalances that it causes in their endocrine systems. But will Zach listen to me, not a chance. So, let's see he how he liked his little taste of a hyped-up hybrid. The mansion was extremely quiet, he looked for Kris and found the child fast asleep in the reading room. Something wasn't adding up. He found Zach setting at the table sipping a cup of coffee and reading the newspaper. Okay out with it, exactly what in the hell did you do to our child? Me I didn't do anything, but Jarvis had enough. He read me the riot act and threatened me in my own house if I give the child any more sweets. He sent me in here and told me not to move no matter what I heard. I heard a crash and I heard somebody getting his bottom end severely warmed, the next thing he was told to set down or he would get one twice as bad the next time. And there was a next time, then all was quiet. Jarvis came through said he was going to the kitchen and I had better not move a muscle or I would get the end of his shoe also. So, I'm not saying anything, I'm drinking my coffee and reading my paper. I not getting on his bad side ever, I remember what it was like. Thank you, Zach. The Zahara and I will be asking Madison to take us to Sonja's place, we will be gone for a while and I expect for you to care for our son what out the oldest staff member here teaching you how to be a parent to him. We can thank our lucky stars that Jarvis is still with us. So, what did you learn today? No sugar, and don't mess with Jarvis he's tougher than he looks. You remember that, Zachariah Spinelli, and one these days you just might make a half decent parent. Ben was walking toward the front door when Tim stuck his head out of the office, dad is the coast clear? If you mean, have the two hellions have been put in their place yes, it's very clear. Jarvis needs a raise; I know he won't do anything with the money but he does need recognition for what he does around the mansion dad. Just a thought, please do not shoot the messenger. I agree with you Tim, without Jarvis or Franklin this place would be a zoo, the gorilla is in the dining room drinking coffee and reading his newspaper like nothing took place. Dad you weren't here, I think he's afraid to come out of there because Jarvis threatened to throw him out the front door if he ever gave Kris any more sweets again. But I am not defending him or his actions, it is just the first time the mighty has fallen and he fell hard on his ass. Thank you very much Tim, I love you and I will see you later after I get back from Township, Zahara and I are going shopping and it is gonna cost your father dearly. Yes sir, I hear you loud and clear and my lips are sealed. I love you dad. Ben walked away, there was again Tim telling him that he loved and he called him dad. He swelled up with pride inside. Today was going to be a wonderful day. Ben and Zahara were out front waiting for Madison when he pulled up. Sorry Mr. Ben that I am late, I was at the clinic for Philippe's appointment. The baby is growing just fine and is also doing well, there are a few tests that are troubling Rupert, there are some antibodies that he is not familiar with. Dad says it's normal in our bloodlines but it still has me concerned. Zahara was inquisitive, and what bloodlines would those be young man if you do not mind me asking? Is it okay to talk Mr. Ben? You can trust her, after all she is one of the few that would understand what you would be going through as a parent. The dad, Philippe is the product of a double pure royal bloodline cross. His father was pure royal and his birthing mother was pure royal. We don't know how that happened, other than he was abandoned as a child on a satellite farm. And that brings me to the other problem, I'm not of this world I was born on an orbiter, my father and grandfather were both old Earth humans my granddad was a last surviving Royal Goran. The original race has a tendency to come forth in subsequent generations. We're very worried that my bloodlines being crossed with Philippe's might cause a throwback and cause the child to resemble and carry ancient Goran bloodlines. Do any of your siblings have any attributes to the Goran's? My older brother does, he was born with a royal pelt. So far, the child that he is carrying has no antibodies with it at all. But yet your child does show abnormalities within the blood? Yes ma'am, he does show them and I'm afraid he's going to resemble granddad. I'm fearful if we try to hide the child it will make him a target. But if we announce his birth and publish what he looks like it could also cause problems for the Z1. I understand your concerns, there is nothing more feared by the royalty than the ancient Goran. The child must be accepted by all and revered for what he is, the original race. I will do what I can, when the child is born and bless the child and endorse his safety for all. Your Royal highness I cannot ask that of you. It would also make you a target for those who dislike royals. Let me tend to that should it happen; the child and the dad's safety is number one. Have the young man stay and I shall visit with him. Maybe I can sense things with the child that test cannot tell. Madison picked up his communicator and called Benjamin. When the two of you are finished at the clinic have Philippe stay over with us for the weekend. He needs to meet someone that can help. I'm going into Township and don't worry; I will bring you back something. Not a problem, be safe and drive carefully you have my father with you. Yes, dear I know that, and I would never endanger Mr. Ben whatsoever. Talk to you later, love you both. Madison put the speeder in gear and drove off of the Z1 headed to town. Madison was the first one to open the door to Sonja's place and walk-in. Oh, sweetness how is you today what did I do to be blessed with the sight of you good looking thing. Bringing two special customers for you Miss Sonja. Sonja squealed out when Ben walked to the door, daddy Ben do my eyes need to see you. You look so good, if somebody didn't know it, you'd never had a child in your life, then went and got your figure back. Keep it up flattery it will get you everywhere, but today we need to talk about someone else. Sonja almost fell over in her tracks when Zahara walked into the business. Your Highness; I am so privileged to have you as a customer how may I help you. It's just Zahara, and I need a new look. Nothing fancy just something easy to take care of and I have a date Friday. It's nothing special it's just small steps, it'll be at Constantine's Malt Shop. Sonja went about her normal routine of showing a prospective client what they would look like in different lengths of hair, asked if she wanted colors or highlights added to her hair also. She went and picked out no more than six suits of clothes so that Zahara could try them on. Madison asked if he could be excused for a few minutes he wanted to walk to the malt shop. Only if you bring us back three vanilla malts my kind sir. Yes sir Mr. Ben that I can do. Madison left the shop so that they could shop in private. I tell you what Mr. Ben that young man gets better looking every time I see him. I don't know how y'all do it but if I wasn't already involved and he didn't have anybody at home I would tear that back stock room up with that boy. By the time I was through with him he wouldn't be able to walk straight. You had better not let Ty catch you talking like that. Mr. Ben what is wrong with that boy, I have let him know that I am ready, my Dress is waiting but it ain't went no farther. You can only keep something this fine in the parking garage for so long until someone decides to take it out for a test drive. I will talk to him tonight, his grandfather has him working every available second, but he's going to get a vacation. A lot of good that did last time, had it all planned out gonna go to the water's edge the house was ready and someone got called in. And he didn't say a word to anyone he just said yes dad I'm on my way. Had to turn around and come back. Good thing that Luther didn't come in here for a trim, because I would've scalped his head. Don't worry about it, Sonja; I've got it all taken care of, I'm going to I put my foot on one's head and the other one is going to get a foot in the butt. And if they gave me much flack, I'm gonna turn Jasper loose on the lot of them. Oh, not that man I'm scared to him, he may be old and he may be quiet but nobody wants to piss that man off. You're not telling me nothing I don't know already; he came unglued today on Zach and young Kris and they both deserved it. Needless to say, when I left the house, it was very quiet. By the way I want to pick up something special for Jarvis, a new cane or a combination cane/umbrella or some new gloves and a hat, you do have his sizes right. Yes, I do and I know his taste. Maybe he deserves a holiday to the Oceanside, his son and his mate should take him for a few days. Jarvis isn't getting any younger and we have to watch out for him to make sure he's fully appreciated. Sonja you are thinking like a Spinelli. Now if Ty will just get his crap together. On that one, I'm not going to hold my breath Mr. Ben. Do not worry about my grandson, I will handle him. You be ready to go at close of day, he will be here to take you to supper that I will guarantee. Any of you see him walking funny it's because my foot is still up his vent. Now what did you decide for Jarvis? Okay Mr. Ben, I have picked out the following items for him and they will all be wrapped and ready for you to take home with. Zahara was having fun, this was the first time she had ever been allowed to indulge herself. Ben watched as the young lady was enjoying herself trying on clothing and just being free to do what she wanted to do. Sonja dear; she needs an outfit for every day of the week and some lounging clothing and some special in case there's a little afternoon action when the lights go down if you know what I mean. I'm way ahead of you Mr. Ben, Miss. Sonja is here to make sure that she can attract her prey. I don't know who he is, but he has got her fire burning and when a lady's fire is roaring, she takes no prisoners. Tim was pulling up at the boy's house checking on Erickson when he noticed a very plump Stephen getting ready to walk in the gate. Damn dude, you going to ever deliver that child or gonna keep that baby inside of you. Just got back yesterday from the doctor and he says any day now maybe next week. Junior has been kicking the hell out of me all morning long, on the way over I thought he put a foot out my vent he kicked so hard. You need to slow down Stephen, don't be in such a hurry. Let's walk to the house together, I suppose you're like me check in on Erickson and Giorgio. And don't forget about the boys, they'll be due in a few months. Yeah, Dillard is fairly good size poor Griffin that boy has swelled up like I don't know what? I keep on telling him it looks like he's packing at least twins. He keeps on tell me to shut up he don't want to hear it, from what I can get from his father, his dad did the same thing. As the two were walking up the pathway Stephen had to stop and grab his side, causing him to cry out, damn that fucking hurt like hell. Junior didn't like it. Stephen are you okay your little bit pale? I'm okay the catch my breath, oh crap I think I peed on myself. Stephen reached into the back of his pants to check in when he removed his hand it was covered in blood. Tim something is very wrong, I shouldn't be bleeding like this, I need to go the clinic now. Hold on buddy, let's not cause a scene. Were gonna turn around and get you back to the speeder, then we are going to the clinic as soon as possible. Something's wrong is bad wrong, juniors kicking me again and again and again. Something's wrong with him, I need to get there now. Tim helped Stephen into the speeder and they were off. He called and told them emergency, pregnant Genman in distress have a surgical team waiting along with Dr. Rupert and Matt. It was just minutes to get to the clinic but the front seat was already covered in blood. Tim something is wrong, junior isn't moving. No sooner than they had arrived, Stephen was headed back to surgery. No time could be wasted. Tim called his father and alerted him to the situation that he understood. Zach left of the main house and headed to alert Cleo and Carson. He found out that Arbayden was in township having a day out with the younger boys. He called Madison and explain the situation. Yes, sir Mr. Zach I fully understand I'm here with Mr. Ben and his guest. I will alert him and find Stephen's mate. Now Madison you know that he is 3/4 the way through his term and he doesn't need to get upset. If you do not think that you can handle the situation that's just fine, support Ben and let him handle it and you can learn a lot. Okay Mr. Zach, I believe that is best. Madison flew into the shop, Mr. Ben we need to go. I hate to cut this shopping trip short but there is a situation and we need to locate someone and get him back to the ranch right now. Ben looked at the seriousness on Madison's face. What's wrong and who is it. It's Stephen Sir, they have just carried him to emergency surgery. He started to bleed heavily and there may be a problem with the baby. Zahara, I need to get back to the ranch, are you finished yet. Sonja stepped in, don't worry Granddad. I will wrap everything up and have it brought out. It seems like the two you'd need to get back now my prayers are with Stephen and the precious life that he carries. Rupert and Matt had two lives in the balance. Junior was delivered by cesarean, and even though he was having a little difficulty breathing because of an umbilical cord that had been wrapped around his neck, he was okay. There focus now turned to Stephen, his uterine had ruptured, and it was a touch-n- go situation. They had to get the large blood supply veins clamped off or he would bleed to death. His days of carrying were over, they had to remove his complete uterus leaving only his ovaries. The surgery was a nightmare even in the best of situations. Caleb stepped in to assist and Dr. Stafford was on the overhead monitor giving pointers to both of the young surgeons. An urgent call for blood donation was sent out across the Z1. And anyone and everyone that was available showed up. Ben located Arbayden who was with Sharad and Epstein having a malted. He sat down at the table and explained the situation as best he could. We need to go back to the ranch now. Arbayden went into shock, I can't go back. Nope not going, I'm not going to lose them. If I don't go back everything will be just fine, NO. Stephen's fine I left him at home, he's taking it easy today the baby has been very active there's nothing wrong. Ben had seen this in others before, it was total denial. Constantine came out and sat beside Arbayden, honey you need to get up from here and you need to go back to the Z1. There is a young man there that's gonna need his parent to be there for him. I can't do it; I will not be there in case he doesn't make it. I've seen too much death in my time, if I'm not there he can't die. Zahara set aside her brother. Abe, you were stronger than this, I have seen you take down too many in battle protecting me. Your mate is fighting for his life and the life of the child the child will share, get off of your ass and get the hell out the door. This is your sister telling you to quit having a pity party and go support your mate, before I whip your ass here in front of everybody. Arbayden looked at his sister, and broke down crying. A couple of the construction guys helped Ben get him out to the speeder, after everyone was secured. Madison left the Township headed to the Z1; the speeder was screaming as they raced to the Z1. For the next three hours everyone sat in the waiting area at the clinic, there was no news coming out of the OR. Zach and Carson wore a hole in the carpeting walking back and forth. There was never enough coffee to go around. Jarvis came in and led a round prayers for Stephen and the baby. Rupert came out to give a report to the family. Stephen is still in very serious condition; we are given him blood transfusions but we are still working on him. Alex is okay, he had a little difficulty breathing at the beginning but we put them in incubator and he is fine. At 1:35 PM we delivered Stephen Alexander Edwards before we put Stephen under, he gave us the baby's name in case he didn't make it. He said he would prefer if everyone called him Alex. He weighed 18 pounds and 6 ounces. He is full-term but suffered some strangulation trauma due to the umbilical cord being wrapped around his neck prior to birth. Stephen on the other hand is in critical condition. We are tying up all of the loose blood vessels at this point but he will have to go to the main hospital for critical care. We've never had anything like this before, his uterine wall ruptured. Why we don't know, but he is alive. And he needs all the prayers he can get. If you don't mind, I need to go back in and help, take care of Stephen. Everyone can see the baby it's time. He has already received his first dose of nectar from Stephen, now you will show Arbayden to the nursery. He's needed there so that he and the child can bond. Rupert returned to the surgical suite. Arbayden, was setting there in shock at what he heard. Zahara knew her brother well. Okay young man, get off of your ass we are going to the nursery. You have someone there who needs to meet you, he's my very first nephew. And if you don't want everyone to see me kick your ass, get up now. Abe, I said get your damn ass up now. Arbayden finally came to his senses and told his sister it was time to go meet the child. Carson and Cleo along with Arbayden and Zahara walked back to the nursery. Ben looked at Zach and smiled; she's a tough girl I do have to hand that to her. And a great asset to the family here at the Z1. Zach shook his head in agreement, he then wrapped his arms around Ben and Tim as the three stood together. Father I need to go check on Mason. Plus, I imagine Luther is standing on his head at the office. I left there with Robbie who was helping keep him calm. Ben hugged his son and kissed his cheek, go take care of your brother. And tell him that I love my boys, every one of them no matter how they got here. Yes, that I'll tell him, and just let you know. All of your children love Dad you no matter what. Tim left the medical clinic headed to the main office. Zach looked at Ben. What is got into that boy? No Zach; not a boy, Tim is a full-grown man and you need to start treating him like he is a man. He is no longer that scrawny little dirty boy that you picked up off the front porch, he is our son and a beautiful young man. And you do best to remember that from now. Yes, my dear; have I told you lately how much I love and appreciate you sharing my life with me. The air speeder had arrived to take Stephen and the doctors to Hawthorne Memorial. Carson approached Arbayden, I will go on the trip with Stephen. The Dr. has been worried about your blood pressure so you need to stay here with Alex. Arbayden started to cry. Zahara stepped up, don't worry little brother, his father will take care of him while he's at the hospital getting care. Before you know he will return to us stronger and healed. We just have to keep this thing they call faith. Arbayden shook his head between the tears, I understand is just hard not being able to see his face the morning time. But I will keep documentation of Alex, every day so that he can see and hear him. Carson kissed Cleo and headed to the air speeder. Everyone watched the air speeder lift off, headed to the city carrying one of their own. The blood bank was full and there was even enough to send out to the satellite ranches and farms. The Z1 was a family and they took care of their own. Waiting at the ICU was none other than nurse Nancy, she had met Stephen when Erickson was in the ICU. She felt that she had a connection to the patient and demanded that she be put in charge of him. No one argued with Nancy, no one dared. Nancy introduced herself to Carson, your son will get the very best care that I can provide. It's amazing what these young men go through in their lives. But I don't have to tell you that, being his father, you know all too well. So, let's get the two of you settled in and I'll take care of you both. Carson was amazed at the care that this nurse gave his son and thanked her continuously. Nancy was there every day when the call came in from Arbayden and she patched it through to the inside wireless monitor so that it would play as while Stephen's body repaired itself. Carson with tears in his eyes, my son almost lost his life so that another bloodline could continue. I have a strong healthy grandson thanks to him. I just hope that he can deal with the changes that his body must endure now. Mr. Edwards; if you don't mind me asking, what changes would he go through? Nancy; if I might be so informal. A Genman's body works in tandem with its reproductive organs. The internal organs help balance the aging process and allow them to live longer than most humans. Because all Genman are hybrids of the original ancients that bred them for slavery it is especially harder on those who have been mixed with modern post-apocalyptic humans. They removed his uterine but left the ovaries intact so that he could possibly still produce offspring as a breeder. Only time will tell if it worked. A Genman that is deprived of both reproductive organs usually lives only approximately 10 years after the loss, we don't know how this will affect him. It's like their body loses the will to live because of vital nutrients that those organs provide. Well then Mr. Edwards we just have to make sure this young man survives so that he can see his children grow up into fine men. I'll make sure and say an extra prayer for him, I know for a fact that with all the calls we get checking up on him he is well thought of on the Z1. Someday I'm going to have to go out there myself for a visit. Over the next few weeks, it was rough on everyone. On one of her many trips into Stephens room daily, nurse purpose Carson asked Nancy to have a seat so they could talk. Nancy any time that you are ready, you are a welcome guest in our home. I hope that you don't mind children because Stephen's dad and I have plenty to go around. Stephen had a rough life starting out, but he found a good place to stay at the Z1. Stephen mumbled, talking about me again father? I will be okay, Timmy let me know that it's okay and I will watch the boys grow strong. Stephen then passed out again. Nancy and Carson were both amazed and shocked at the same time. He was sedated with so much medication he shouldn't have ever been able to speak. Carson looked Nancy; who is Timmy? Nancy took a seat beside Carson. He is our resident watcher; he guides people through the darkness into the light when it's their time. He also shows others the way back. I never believed in the mumbo-jumbo that other nurses claimed until I saw one evening a beautiful young man in a flowing robe leaned over one of our patients and he lifted him up and took his spirit away. They almost had to medicate me. In fact, I was given two weeks off because I thought I'd lost my mind. But I have made my peace and Timmy comes and goes as it's destined for him. I don't know where he came from or even who he was, but we are better off with him watching over the ones who need it. I've seen his face before and I could swear that I know him from someone else, but I don't know who it is. Carson; I need to go finish my book work and I believe that you have a call to make to your family. I'll stop by later and checking on the two of you, maybe I can sit with Stephen at the end of my shift so you can go get freshened up and some food. That would be very nice Nancy, I think one of his close friends from the Z1 will be stopping by today. Maybe the two of you will meet. Nancy completed her shift and stop by Stephen's room; Carson thanked her and went about his way to find some food and to freshen himself. Nancy was setting beside Stephen's bed quietly reading to him when she heard someone at the door. A very nice young man stuck his head in and asked if this was Stephen Edward's room? Yes, young man the last time I looked at his charts before I let his father go take a very well-deserved bath and meal it was and still is come on inside. You must the one of his friends from the Z1 coming to check on him, my name is Nancy Harbison and I am his primary nurse. Oh, I'm sorry ma'am I did not mean to disturb you during your job. No bother at all, I'm off duty and doing this as a friend. Come on inside. Tim smiled as he walked into the room, and he introduced himself to Nancy as Timothy Zacharia Spinelli. As in the Spinelli family, the ones who own and operate the Z1 for everyone. Yes ma'am, but that doesn't matter Stephen is one of my older friends. Timothy, please have a seat, can you tell me how the two of you first met? Stephen was brought to the Z1 as a six-month-old. He was placed with a family that was to help guide him. Me and the way that I grew up, I realized that he would need help. Throughout the years I was mentoring him a little bit here and there. He had a good life, grew to be a fine young man, finally met someone that he was worthy of and he was just starting his family out with an honor carry. He was watching after another young man that recently had some problems. But everything was okay now. May I ask you what you meant by the way you grew up, if it's not too intrusive. Certainly not, I was about halfway grown when someone picked me up beside the road and dropped me off at the main house of the Z1. The man that I have come to love and call father took me in. He cleaned me, he fed me and he along with dad they helped me get on grip on life. I wasn't always the easiest child to handle, but father had some experience and so did dad. I didn't know this till late, they adopted me and made me their own. And do you have a family, Timothy? I usually go by the name Tim, but to answer your question yes, I do. I had three sons. My first one he was born too early due to an accident on the ranch and he was not able to survive. His dad and I could not make it work after that; I honor carried a set of twins for a mixed couple who were unable to have children of their own. The twins know who I am but they call them father and dad. The Hawthorns are the best family I could choose for the twins. My new mate Mason and I are expecting our first, we will raise him together as a family. And if everything goes right, we plan on having more. If you do not mind me asking what was your son's name that you lost? I named him Timothy Zacharia Spinelli II but always referred to him as Timmy. Oh my gosh, that's why you look so familiar. He looks just like you but only younger. So, you have seen him also? Yes, I have and the first time I don't mind telling you he scared the hell out of me. He did me too, I chased after him one evening down the hallway but I couldn't catch him before he walked into the light. I was told by Sister Agnes; he was here to do a job and here's where he would be. The first time I saw him he was leaning over the patient's bed and gently picked the patient up in his arms and he floated up and through the ceiling. The man's body was still in bed but his spirit had gone on. I'm not telling you, they almost had to peel me off the walls. I have made my peace with Timmy and he comes and goes up and down these hallways and into rooms when he is needed. I can let you know something right now; earlier Stephen came to enough and spoke. He told his father not to worry Timmy said that he would see the boys grow up and would raise families of their own. If Stephen said that that is true, I'm so glad that we met. When Stephen is out of here and he is recovered you're going to have to come out to the Z1 and visit. You will have your pick of any place that you wish to stay. Tim; I will take you up on that offer. I'm tired and I'm overdue for a long vacation. Seeing a place such as the Z1 in full operation would be one of the best ventures of my entire life. I understand that the medical clinic out there is top-notch. Yes, ma'am it is, and we have some of the best food available at either of Donnie's restaurant or if you like a lighter meal, Constantine's Malt shop in the nearby Township. We have opened a education center, a university, museum and an interactive library database. We grow stuff hydroponically and we are very big in construction. A lot of the new single-family homes being built right outside the city and donated to the poor come from the Z1 and its families. Then I will definitely have to come and see it all for myself. Plus, there's a couple of my patients that I would want to check up on. And when your new son is born, I want to see him to. Maybe tell him how great his big brother is. Tim and Nancy were having a very good conversation when Carson returned. I see that the two of you have met, it's good to see you Tim. I know it's only time before Stephen is back with us. Arbayden is getting frazzled, Cleo was helping all that he can so are the boys. But there's nothing like your own mate, even though he will not be able to do a lot when he returns it will still help him out. Y'all talking about me again, you know I can hear every word you're saying Tim. Good thing you didn't tell nurse Nancy that I was a little shit growing up. The three gathered around the bed, Stephen was coming out of the darkness. I'm still very tired, but I am so ready to get home to the boys. I need to get my strength up so I can play with them and be a proper husband to Arbayden. Timmy said my time to leave here is close, I'm ready to go home. He said I would be just fine. Nancy hugged Tim's neck, then she turned around and hugged Carson. Now go call your family and we can patch it through the monitor that way they can see him. Tim made the phone call, Ty I need a broadcast signal, Stephen is awake and he wants to see his family. As soon as it was all set up Ty return the call, it went live. On the outside monitors there was a split screen so that anyone on the Z1 watching could see both reactions. Stephen's and his family. Arbayden was overjoyed to see Stephen, he was very proud of Alex. Abe, you need to wait on me to get well before you birth, I wish to hold our newest son when he's born. You're doing a great job with Alex, I'm just sorry that I'm not there to help you. Don't worry Stephen, we are doing well Alex is growing and he is ready to meet his dad. You get well and come home soon, I miss you and I love you. I'm going let you speak to your dad now I need a break; the baby is a little rambunctious hearing your voice. He's glad to hear you. Cleo took over, it was a tear festal Cleo's end. He was so glad to be speaking to his son, his firstborn. Now when you get home you need to take it easy follow the doctor's orders and go to physical therapy when they tell you to. I know I sound like a dad, but once one always one. I might not have always been able to be there every minute as you grew but I am not missing one second from now on. Stephen started to get tired, Nancy and Carson thought it best for everyone to say good night. As the screen went black, Stephen smiled and thanked Nancy for all that she had done for him, he slowly drifted off to sleep. Dr. Stafford stopped by after he saw the broadcast and was very pleased with the marked improvement of Stephen. He complimented Nancy on her professionalism and dedication to her patients. When Stephen is better, I will sit down with you Nurse Harbison, I think you will like the conversation. Nancy was a little confused, the ICU was her life and her patients were here along with Timmy. What did Dr. Stafford with her? She bit everyone farewell for the night and left and journeyed to her little one-bedroom apartment in the city. As she turned on the radio to old tunes and took out a book about Genman and began to read. This wasn't one of the old government propaganda books, it was a new updated one with new factual information compiled from archives at the Z1. She found it very interesting. The next morning when Nancy reported to ICU she found a note in her box asking her to report Dr. Stafford's office. Nancy was very concerned; she did not know what was going on but she reported as requested. The secretary showed her into the main conference room and had her take a seat at the table. She was perplexed at best. Dr. Stafford walked in with a file that was considerably thick. Nancy had a sinking feeling in her stomach, did she violate policy or did she upset someone and there was a formal complaint lodged? Nurse Harbison I imagine you are wondering why you are here today? And let me tell you there is nothing to worry about, in fact I have nothing but glowing reports about you and how you handle your job. The way you treat your patients and their family and friends should be a role model that every caregiver strives to do. Thank you very much Dr. Stafford, I still don't understand why I'm here I have patients I need to attend to. Don't worry about that we have got that covered in fact we put two more nurses in your place just to try to do your job. I know you work the ICU; I know how you care for your patients. And this is why want to talk to you, we want to send you as a goodwill ambassador to some of the outlying clinics and medical facilities that are connected with Hawthorne Memorial Medical Center. There's one that I know you would really enjoy visiting, and they would love to have you there to help guide some of the younger medical staff. There is a clinic in a Township that serves a vast and diverse patient load. Your last couple of patients, and especially the one that you have right now have benefited from your expertise and professionalism. I know it the start you were a little rocky, taking care of someone that you have never had dealings with before and especially a different species can be challenging. But you met every challenge head on and you excelled, in fact you taught me a few things. When your current patient is discharged from the hospital the Hawthorns would like for you to accompany him back to the Z1 ranch. You will be able to check on your previous patient and you can make sure that Stephen is placed in the proper rehab programs that is needed for his care. Excuse me Dr. Stafford, am I being demoted. No nurse Harbison you are being placed in an outreach program that you will be in charge. You will coordinate with the main hospital and place doctors and nurses throughout the program. This is every nurse's dream, a doctor will have to answer to you if he screws up, likewise the nurses will to. This is something that you might be interested in pursuing, you will have your own quarters at the Z1, your apartment here will be reserved for you should you wish to discontinue the program and return to the ICU. I would like for you to think about this, it would go a long way in human/Genmen relations. You are highly thought of in the Genmen society. So, with that I'm going to give you a stack of files to choose your staff. And let you go back to your job and your patient. Nancy took the stack of files from Dr. Stafford, thanked him for the opportunity and went back to the ICU. All eyes were upon her when she returned to her workstation. Everyone wanted to know what was going on but they dared not ask. Nancy picked up her charts and went to do her job. She entered Stephen's room; morning Mr. Edwards how is your son today? He's doing okay, it looks like his vitals are up and his color has definitely improved. I was afraid you might have been sick since you didn't come in at your usual time and another young lady came in to check on Stephen's condition. She was okay but very unsure of herself when it came to checking his incisions. She's probably never been close to a Genmen before Carson, and I have no doubt she was terrified. But we are going to fix that when it comes to medical staff. I will bring you a fresh cup of coffee when I return from my personal stash. The swill that they claim to be coffee around here can the pavement up if it's poor directly on it. Yes, it's not the best of the world, but it warms the insides. Thank you in advance Nancy. Nancy leaned over to Stephen, young man I know that you can hear me. We're going to work on getting your butt out of this hospital, and I going to take back home where you belong with your family. That's right you're not getting rid of me that easy, because I see exactly live and you grew up. Carson looked at Nancy strange, I don't understand what you mean you're going to take him home? Mr. Edwards just exactly what I said; I'm taking this boy home. He needs to wake his ass up and quit lounging around because he has a life to live and a certain young man that wants to see his dad. Nancy out of the corner of her eye could've sworn she saw Stephen smile. Okay, go get your cup of coffee and do my charting. She reached over and brushed her hand against Stephen's cheek, see you later hot stuff. Nancy walked out the room. Nancy walked to the nurse's station and reached into the bottom of her desk she took out a bag of her special blend and made a pot of coffee. She filled two large cups and added just the right amount of sweetener for Carson. She looked at one of the young ladies that had been sent to the ICU to help out. She handed her a cup of coffee; this goes to Mr. Edwards in room 301 who is sitting beside his son's bed. Please give this to the man with my compliments. The young nurse did not question, nor did she dawdle. Nancy set her cup down beside her stack of files and started to go through the staff members Dr. Stafford felt could make the grade. Jimmy was sitting on the side of the bed when the first twinge hit him, then there was a lot of pressure. Marlowe, we need to go. Were we going now Jimmy it's early in the morning and nothing is open? Call the boys and tell him to meet us at the clinic and they better hurry because I'm not gonna make it. Jimmy exactly how far you, and why haven't you said anything before now. Because the pain just hit me and I feel them coming out. So, unless you will deliver your sons, we need to get to the clinic now. Marlowe was helping Jimmy out the front door as he noticed Tim out for his morning jog. Tim emergency now, they're on their way and they are not slowing down I need your help. Griffin and Dillard were trying to get themselves together, to equally swollen Genmen meant they were slow to do anything. Griffin was swollen more than Dillard but that didn't matter the boys were on their way. Tim and Marlowe helped Jimmy through the door of the clinic. It wasn't a moment too soon Jimmy's water ruptured as they walked into the front lobby. Tim hollered out red alert, babies on the way and they're not slowing down. Caleb was on call and had come in early. Well, it looks like I'm going to have to wait on my coffee, Jimmy we need to get you into the chair now. We better the first the first one is already bulging I can feel him at my opening trying to leave already, nine months cooped up in here and he's ready to get out. No sooner than Jimmy set down the chair and started to relax his body Andrew came sliding home, with a grunt and a slight push Bradley came out next. Jimmy got to take a deep breath and Canton was the next boy to leave the home place. Jimmy cleaned out and was taking a deep breath or two when the boys showed up. Jimmy looked up and saw Griffin standing there. Well, it's about time, you have already missed the action when your father said the boys were on their way you didn't believe him did you? Griffin was disappointed that he did not get to see his brothers come into the world, but just being there with his parents and his new siblings was enough for him and Dillard to experience. Andrew's weight was 10 lbs. 1 oz., Bradley came in at 10 lbs. 2 oz., And topping out the bunch was Canton 10 lbs. 3 oz. Just like their order 1,2,3. Jimmy laid on the gurney propped up a little bit as two of the three children nursed. Andrew was the first one and he was well satisfied in just a few minutes Bradley was a little bit hungrier, but Canton was a pig he loved the nipple. Well Marlowe, we did good three healthy boys, and I feel fine. I'm ready do this again. Jimmy; we agreed, the boys are the end of the line. There healthy, great but that's it. We also agreed that Griffin was the end of the line, these boys will know nothing but peace and harmony. I am not ashamed of who or what I am, I'm a pureblood Genmen and I a large family so you just be ready to give it up when I say it's time. Marlowe knew better than to argue with Jimmy, maybe it was just his hormones talking maybe tomorrow when is vent remind him that he had pushed not one but three babies out he would change his mind. Caleb was trying to stay professional but it was hard with the way Jimmy was acting. Jim let me tell you one thing you're not young, you did good this time next time it may take more out of you, if and when the two of you mutually agree to have another child we are going to sit down and talk about it. If something goes wrong next time and Marlowe is left raising a child on his own it's not going be nice. I hear what you're talking about Doc, but my body says this time for me to have babies I've waited long enough. I'll wait my three months, and if I'm still a desire I will be conceiving again. All Marlowe has to do is lay flat in the bed, I'll do all the work. On that one Caleb had walked out of the delivery room to keep from laughing out loud. Caleb ran into Mr. Zach, running a little bit late they couldn't wait on you. The babies and dad are doing great, their father isn't so good. Jimmy informed him that he better be ready to get to producing more because he is ready to start birthing as soon as he can conceive again. So, the alarm clock finally rang? Yep, that alarm clock rang loud and clear, everybody in earshot was put on notice. Jimmy Beard is fertile and ready to produce. Zach walked into the delivery room where he found Jimmy standing up arguing with one of the attendants. I said I am fine and I am rated go back home I don't need to be here anymore I've rested enough. I need to go home make my bed these babies in their beds and cook breakfast. Jimmy; he is only doing his job you know that after you birth the rules are one hour flat on your back after you feed them. So, what are you going to do now? Jimmy looked put off, one hour flat on my back. Even though I feel fine right now just in case there are any complications every Genmen is supposed to rest. We are not a factory we are not on a timeline, after an hour we can go home assisted. I'm sorry Mr. Zach, just birthing the boys was too easy. I didn't feel a pain all I felt was some pressure and they were here Griffin on the other hand I screamed for 37 hours trying to get him out and he almost ripped me half into. These new delivery chairs are awesome. Every Genmen should have to use one of these. Don't worry Jimmy we are putting them in every satellite ranch and farm that belong to the Z1 and Hawthorne family. Local clinics for humans also are equipped with them to assist them in proper birthing positioning. So don't worry about it it's fine. Get your ass back in bed and lay there quietly. Now I need to ask you both something especially you Jimmy. I thought it your age and with these being triplets, this was the end of the line for you? Jimmy blushed a little, we had discussed it this was unexpected. But after birthing these boys I know it's my duty to have children. My husband just needs to be on board and put the children inside of me when I tell him it's time for another child but he seems to have a problem with me being pregnant. Jimmy, I don't have a problem, your 32 this was only her second pregnancy. Babes everything went fine but next time there might be complications. Marlowe no disrespect to you but Genmen can successfully birth children well up into their early 70s it's humans that have a problem past their mid-30s. So having children and raising them, watching them grow up and fill our home with laughter and joy is what Genmen do. Marlowe you and Jimmy need to sit down and discuss the matter when he comes down from his hormone high. But he's correct Jim induced a fertile long it does not hurt their body to produce children at an older age. All I'm gonna tell you is stay in good health and eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Because it does sound like you are going to have a larger family than the to you initially thought about. Mr. Zach, Jimmy and I do need to sit down and discuss this like reasonable adults. Maybe the kids will grow on me, all we ever planned for was Griffin and no more. Now we have three mouths to feed. Marlowe you just have the new parent -it is, it's called panic mode and everyone gets even me. Kris is a handful but I love him more than anything, having more I'm not so sure about but if Ben decides another child, I will do what any self-respecting mate will do. I will fulfill his wishes; will it take a lot out of us yes it will. But hearing those tiny little feet run down the hallway, and someone yelling out for one of his parents. It makes it all worth it.
