Aiden knows he needs to stand up for those friends, especially new ones like the twins. The story is my property. Please ask for permission to post it in any form. Nifty has a lot of reading. CHAPTER 6 FRIENDS OF DIFFERENT AGES WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 Aiden was snuggled up with Phil on their favorite recliner. Phil was wearing a Mayfield Mustangs baseball t-shirt and a pair of lounge pants that looked like they'd been spray painted with a hardware store's entire inventory of colors. "If you look carefully," Phil explained when Aiden commented on the mishmash of colors, "you will notice that they are all fall colors. Therefore, my pants are celebrating the upcoming season." "Your lounge pants are always goofy colors no matter what season it is," Aiden observed. "They are loud colors, not goofy colors," Phil countered. Larry was at a meeting of the Mayfield Sports Booster Club, so Aiden was enjoying an evening alone with his dad. The Mariner baseball game was on TV, the sound at a low level. Aiden was wearing a pair of white Hanes briefs and white socks. "Dad, why is it so wrong for us to snuggle up naked?" "I don't know if it is wrong," Phil told him, "but it's not the right thing to do according to those who determine what the right things to do are." "Who are they?" "Nobody knows, but there are a lot of them." "That makes no sense." Phil squeezed Aiden's shoulder. "I wish I had a dollar for every time we've had this discussion in one form or other." "I like being naked." "Then get up, take off your skid-marked underpants, and go sit on the love seat, the couch, the overstuffed chair, the floor—just not with me." "I don't have skid marks in my undies," Aiden protested. "Are you sure?" Aiden jumped off the recliner and yanked his undies to his knees looking straight down at them. "There's nothing brown down there." "Made you look," Phil laughed. "You're mean." Aiden thought about what he wanted more, to be naked or to cuddle up to his dad. Cuddling won this time. "Can I tell you something and you won't get mad?" Aiden asked as he pulled up his briefs and cuddled back up to Phil. "I won't get mad unless I do," Phil replied. "You say that all the time, too." "How often have I become angry about something you've told me?" Aiden thought for a moment and hedged his bet. "Almost never, but it happens," he finally replied. He then went on to tell his dad how he almost got into a fight at lunch recess that day. "The key word is almost," Phil said, "so you might win this round. Just what is it that had you ready to fight?" "Well, I told you about Lenny and Lance, the fourth grade twins, right?" Phil nodded. "Well, on the first day of school I was their guide and Gordy was the guide for this guy named Ed. He's a fifth grader and it turns out he's a fucktard." "Aiden!" "Well, it's true. So him and this kid named Dylan decided to pick on the twins. Dylan was kind of a butthead last year, but now he's a fifth grader and he's become a fucktard asswaffle." "Aiden, we're going to have a talk on this subject when you finish your story. So, for now, just tell the story without the name calling." "I'm not calling anyone names; I'm just saying what they are. I can tell the truth, can't I?" Phil shook his head and his son went on. "So, me and Muddy heard them and when they started moving in on the twins we looked at each other and we were going to make them stop." "As opposed to getting help from a playground supervisor?" "She was on the lower playfield. We weren't going to let the twins get beat up by two bigger kids. I am their guide and nobody is going to mess with them while I'm around." "So what stopped the fight from happening?" "The twins went right after them and just like that the fuck...um...bullies were both on the ground even though they were bigger. Nobody's gonna be messing with those twins." "From what I'm learning, it sounds like the twins had a pretty good life before their parents divorced." Phil wondered how their mom went from what was probably a middle class existence in Seattle to living in the Evergreen Trailer Park in Mayfield. Deadbeat dad was the first thing that came to mind. "Well, I'm happy you didn't have to get involved." "Me too, because then you and daddy would have been mad at me. Are you mad at me now?" "No, just disappointed that either you or Muddy didn't get the supervisor. That alone might have slowed them down." "We could have sent Miles, I guess. He was watching with us." "Good thinking. Get the right adults involved as soon as you can." Phil took a deep breath and then went on. "Your daddy and I had a talk about one of the words you used just now." "Fucktard," Aiden said without emotion. "Good guess." "No, daddy told me not to use it and said he'd say why. He said he would when he had a chance but he never did." "But, you used it anyway." "Yeah, I did," Aiden said sheepishly. "Here's the deal. Your daddy teaches school and you go to school. Both of your schools have special education students." "Yeah, we have a couple. Parkwood doesn't have any, they all come on the short bus to my school." "Short bus?" "Yeah, it's a bus that's not as long as the regular buses." "Okay, I know what you're talking about. I guess I never heard the term." "And lots of kids call the kids who ride it re...um...oh...oh," Aiden's voice fell off. "I think I get it. You don't want me calling people fucktards because it sounds like retards. Dad, I totally swear I never called anybody a retard. Ever. Anywhere. Not even in Seattle where there were lots of mean kids. It's not right." "I'm glad to hear that, son." "I just never thought about one sounding like the other. So, I will never call anybody a fucktard ever again, even in private, unless it is on accident." "Work to make sure those accidents never happen," "I'll work hard at it." "I will be telling your daddy about our conversation." "I figured you would." "And it's by accident, not on accident." Aiden nodded. He thought his dad could have made that correction some other time, but he held his tongue. "Dad?" "Yes, son?" "Can I still call somebody an asswaffle?" Phil worked hard not to break out into laughter." As long as we're not having waffles for breakfast." "You can be really weird, sometimes." Aiden decided it was time to change subjects. "Tomorrow flag football starts so there will always be a teacher on the upper field, anyway." That night, before Phil read to Aiden and tucked him in, he gave him his grammar lesson for the night. "It's he and that kid named Dylan, not him and that kid." "I forgot." "That's why you have me and your daddy around to remind you." After Phil left, Aiden rolled on his side to fall asleep. Aiden was tired of the grammar reminders. He knew he was getting better and that's what counted for him. Aiden had been saying what he was grateful for before he told his dads he wanted to be tucked in. He still needed to ask Marty about the best way to do it before his big bro left for Arizona. That left him with only a couple of days, since Marty was leaving on Sunday. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 Aiden didn't have to wait long to receive Marty's advice. He decided to call him before going breakfast. Marty's advice was simple: "There's no right way to do it, bro. It's whatever works for you. Don't worry about how you do it, just do what feels right. To put it simply—just do it." Aiden liked what Marty told him. As far as he was concerned, simple was good. He came downstairs for breakfast wearing just a t-shirt and socks. He was emulating Miles' brother John by donning nothing but a long t-shirt that covered the fact that he was naked from the waist down. Larry was finishing his cereal when Aiden sat at the table. If he suspected anything nefarious on Aiden's part regarding what he was wearing, he didn't say anything about it. "Good morning, daddy," Aiden said as he grabbed a box of bite-size shredded wheat and filled his bowl. "Good morning, son." He handed Aiden the sports page and Aiden quickly checked on the Mariners and then perused the box scores. He and Larry talked a little baseball and Larry started cleaning up his breakfast dishes. "I want you to take the bus home, today." "Really? Why?" This would be the second time he would be taking the bus home this school year compared to six times the year before. "Just do it," Larry smiled. "Daddy, you have to tell me why." "Okay. How about if I say I can't give away the reason since it's a surprise." Aiden chewed a mouthful of cereal. "I like surprises if they're good ones. Why can't you just tell me?" As a ten-year-old, Aiden could be left alone for an hour after school. Aiden knew that his dads preferred he spent his time after school at a friend's house. Even though he wouldn't admit it because he liked the idea of being home alone like a grown up boy, he preferred being with a friend or friends after school. "Just accept it for what it is. Make sure you clear the table. I'll see you after school." Larry grabbed his briefcase and headed down to the garage, leaving Aiden upset about the `stupid' secret and about the fact his daddy didn't notice that he wasn't wearing any underpants. What's the use of breaking the stupid rule about eating without any kind of pants on if you don't get caught doing it? he thought. He decided he'd keep testing the rule and if he didn't get caught that would mean he was supposed to eat with no pants on. It could even mean he could try coming down to breakfast without a t-shirt on and be really naked, something he knew he couldn't get away with. But it would be worth getting caught. The way he saw it, his dads have to change their mind on that rule since they knew it was a stupid rule, just like he did. He cleared the table, took care of brushing his teeth and dressing, and headed out to catch the bus. He made it a point to not sit next to Kalie Carter, even though he liked her. He just didn't want her to get any ideas. The day in school was routine, at least as routine as a school day could be this early in the school year. Gordy was surprised that Aiden would be riding the bus home since Aiden usually came to his house after school. The only thing that might not be considered routine was when Muddy announced he had a nail. That part was normal, but Mason's reaction went a step further than in the past. Instead of asking Muddy if he could see it, he shoved his left hand inside Muddy's pants, feeling his friend's hard cock skin-to-skin. "I want to suck it," Mason grinned as his fingers masturbated Muddy's 4.6 inches. "You want to do it here?" Muddy asked. He was always afraid Mason would say yes. "No, doofus, I just want to suck it." Aiden sometimes wished the old shy version of Mason would reappear. It wasn't the sex part that bothered Aiden—all of the boys at the table thought what Mason did was fun. But the old Mason would never have thought of calling anybody a doofus, let alone actually doing it. "Can I do it after school?" Mason asked Muddy. "I have soccer after school," Muddy said before moaning lightly as Mason's fingers snuck down to his scrotum. Mason was happy Muddy was wearing boxers since they were easier to reach into. Muddy had lied a little since he didn't have practice until after dinner, but Mason often annoyed him—not that he thought Mason's hand in his pants was annoying. "I'm not doing anything after school." Miles announced. "Can I come to your house?" Mason grinned. Miles nodded. Everybody in the group knew what the two of them were going to do after school. Just then, Autumn Kellogg came by the table with Ed Shaffer, which was also not normal. She had become very much like Shana Masters, leading her retinue of girlfriends around the lunchroom before going to recess. Only this time she was leading a boy. "I told you the boys at this table were nasty," Autumn said. Mason's hand froze on Muddy's cock. While it was difficult from her angle to see that Mason's hand was inside Muddy's pants, it was obvious he had been doing something under the table. Ed simply nodded. Aiden's presence at the table kept him subdued. He had found out quickly when he had his run-in with the twins that Aiden was quick to stand up for people. He was pretty certain that Aiden would have gone after him if the twins hadn't. He was still sore from that altercation, but he was also thankful nobody had ratted him out to the playground supervisor. He doubted that Mason could do whatever it was the Hazen twins had done to him. He gave the impression of someone who could easily be bullied. But, he was also a friend of Aiden, which made Ed somewhat cautious, as well as a friend of Muddy, who was the biggest boy in the fifth grade. Ed was close to the same size as Muddy, but Muddy intimidated him. On the flip side, Mason and Aiden were the two smallest boys in fifth grade. Maybe, just maybe, Aiden wasn't as tough as he made himself out to be. Ed wondered if there was a way he could bully Mason and get the best of Aiden at the same time. To do that, he would need some help. As soon as Autumn and Ed walked away, Mason restarted his masturbation of Muddy, who moaned softly. Mason felt Muddy's cock quiver as three drops of warm liquid boy cum squirted into Muddy's underpants, some of it covering Mason's thumb and forefinger. "Eww," Mason squeaked as he quickly withdrew his hand from Muddy's pants. He pulled the napkin off of his lunch tray and wiped it off. "Mason, you are a nutcase," Gordy said. "Muddy was horny," Mason explained defensively. "You should have eaten Muddy's cum off of your hand instead of wiping it off," Miles said. "But this is the lunchroom," Gordy reminded him. "If you get caught doing stuff like that we could all get into trouble." "Gordy's right," Aiden said. "At least do it in the bathroom and leave us out of it." "He did it under the table and nobody saw it," Muddy said. He wasn't a bit perturbed my Mason's actions. "Autumn and that Ed dude saw it," Miles pointed out. "They didn't see anything," Mason said, although he wasn't real sure about that. "It's all cool, Mason, and we're still cool for after school," Miles grinned. Mason smiled back and then reminded everybody that he would be ten tomorrow and that his party would be at Aiden's house on Saturday. Everyone at the table had been invited along with the twins, Collin, and Trent. It was going to be his first big birthday party and he was very excited. Mason returned to the incident under the table, just to make sure all of his friends wouldn't back out of his party because of what he had done with Muddy. "I won't mess around at the lunch table anymore. But Muddy has to promise to quit telling when he has a boner at lunch which is like every day." "I can't help that I get them," Muddy told them. "But I will say nothing." Muddy almost wished he had pulled Mason's hand out of his pants since everybody had become so worked up over it. Aiden and Gordy stood up, bused their lunch stuff, threw away their trash and headed outside for lunch recess. "I wonder about how long those promises will last," Gordy said. "I hope until next week," Aiden giggled. As he and his best friend walked outside, Aiden couldn't help but wonder what he would have done if Mason had stuck his hand in his pants instead of Muddy's. When Aiden headed for his bus after school, he saw Kalie Carter talking to some girls, including Valerie Michaels, who was one of the guides. He took his regular seat on the right, three rows from the back. He'd barely gotten seated when Kalie boarded and sat next to him. He tried not to act annoyed. It was apparent that the only way to keep her from sitting next to him when he rode the bus home from school was to let her board first. "Hi, Aiden," Kalie said as she sat. "Hey, Kalie." "You don't ride the bus home much and you don't sit next to me in the morning so we don't get to talk much." "I usually go to Miles or Gordy's house after school until one of my dads picks me up or we go to soccer practice." "You can sit next to me in the morning if you want." "I like, um...thinking on the bus before I go to school." The big word he wanted to use was meditate, but his mind wouldn't grab hold of it. He wished he could remember it; he was sure it would impress Kalie. Marty had talked to him about meditating a lot. "That's okay, I guess. Do you care if I sit next to you after school?" "No, it's okay," Aiden said even though he felt the opposite. At least Kalie wasn't an annoying, stuck-up girl like Autumn was. "Autumn said there was some nasty stuff going on at your lunch table today." "I didn't see anything nasty." While not entirely true, it was close enough to the truth that Aiden felt he had been honest with Kalie. "Okay," she said. Aiden was surprised by her quick acquiescence; he was beginning to think that Kalie could actually become a friend of his, even if she was a girl. "I don't trust everything Autumn says, anyway, especially since she's going out with that creep, Ed." Aiden nodded. The fact that Kalie had a problem with Autumn was another point in her favor. When the bus arrived at Aiden's house, Kalie got up to let Aiden out of his seat. "Thank you for letting me sit with you," Kalie said. Aiden gave her a quick little wave as he stepped down off of the bus. Mrs. Emerson smiled to herself as she pulled on the lever to shut the door. Looks like a little fifth grade crush is developing, she thought. She always liked observing the young kids' shy little romances, even if they weren't really romances. The first thing Aiden saw when he got off of the bus was two cars parked in the driveway. One was Marty's Toyota 4Runner. The other car was a red Chevrolet Malibu. Aiden didn't know whose car the Chevy was. He wondered what they were doing at his house, but figured it had something to do with his daddy wanting him to take the bus home after school. As soon as he entered the house he caught the aroma of good cooking and started drooling. "Hi, everybody, I'm home," he called out. Eric Simmons popped out of the kitchen. "Hi, Aiden. Come on into the kitchen where Chef Marty is preparing his world famous spaghetti sauce." "Hi, Eric." Aiden didn't know Eric very well, but the few times he'd seen him, he'd liked him a lot. "Is Marty's sauce really world famous?" he asked as they entered the spacious kitchen. "Just ask him." "Is your spaghetti sauce really world famous?" Aiden asked Marty. "If it isn't, it should be," Rich, Marty's husband laughed. "It's known from here to Pullman, Washington, which is located on this world, so that would be a good start to world-wide fame," Marty grinned. "The key is the proper amount of star anise and fennel for perfect flavoring". "You can cook as good as you play baseball," Aiden grinned. "Howdy, bro. Come here and give me a hug." Aiden was at Marty's side in an instant, wrapping his little arms around the big body of his idol. "Hi, Rich and hi, Noah," Aiden said as he let go of Marty. Noah McCall was Eric's boyfriend as well as Nick's brother. All four boys had played baseball for Phil and Larry. Noah and Eric would be starting their senior year at Stanford University in a week. "Why are you guys here?" Aiden asked. "Obviously to cook dinner," Marty answered. "We wanted an evening with your dads and with you before we all went our own ways. So, here we are all standing around as my sauce simmers under my watchful eye." "If you want to snack, do it now," Rich said. "I set out two chocolate chip cookies from the batch I baked. Just don't tell your dads I corrupted you with cookies before dinner." "I won't say anything, I promise." "You have to pay for those cookies, though," Marty told Aiden. "I do? How, with my allowance?" "No. You do it by telling me what's wrong with this sentence. `You can cook as good as you play baseball.'" Aiden thought for a moment and then said, "You can cook as WELL as you play baseball." "The man can cook, he can hit a blazing fastball, and he can speak English," Eric laughed. "You couldn't ask for more in a big brother, Aiden." "I always get that confused." "Keep working on it and it will start to make sense. You have great teachers around you to help you." "I want to talk as good as...," Aiden's signature grin broke out and he finished by saying,"...I mean talk as WELL as Marty." "By George, I think he's got it," Noah said, ruffling Aiden's already scruffy hair. Aiden found himself admiring the four handsome men in front of him as he chomped on a cookie and asked if he could help. He was placed in charge of setting the dining room table. About a half-hour after Aiden got home, Larry drove up. There were lots of hugs and greetings and soon everybody was busily working on something as well as talking about various subjects, with baseball being the dominant topic. Marty, who loved cooking and was good at it, had everything ready to go right about the time Phil was due home. As Marty did some last minute tasting, Phil came up the stairs from the garage, and once more greetings and hugs were exchanged. Soon, everyone was seated at the dining room table for dinner. There was a salad at everyone's seat. Marty had the spaghetti, sauce with meatballs, and garlic bread laid out on the kitchen table so each person could serve himself. Before the eating commenced, Marty dinged his glass with his fork to catch everyone's attention. "I do believe my best friend has an announcement to make," he said, looking over at Eric. Eric stood up, not bothering to fight the wide grin breaking out on his handsome face. "Thanks, Marty. I was the one who asked if we could have dinner together before we all left town to go our own ways." He gestured for Noah to stand up next to him. "Nobody outside our families knows this, although I think Marty has it figured out." Eric put his arm around Noah's shoulder. "Last week, I asked my love to marry me, and he was kind enough to accept." Noah's grin was as wide as Eric's as the table broke out in applause. Eric continued after the noise died down. "While we had talked about getting married after college graduation, nothing formal was agreed upon. It is now formal. While the date has yet to be set, it will be right after our graduation next spring." That led to an exchange of kisses between Eric and Noah and more applause. "Now, let's eat." Once again conversations started up. Since he had come into the house after school, Aiden had been included in some general conversation and even initiated one about his soccer team. The fact that the adults weren't treating him like a little kid made him feel especially grown up, leaving no doubt in his mind that being ten years old was at least a "quadzillion" times better than being nine. They all agreed that the spaghetti and meat balls had been excellent. Their Italian dinner was finished off by an American dessert, apple pie ala mode. The pie had been baked by Rich, who was the dessert maker in his relationship. Aiden received a surprise from Eric after dinner. They had retired to the dessert room, as it was being called that day, to eat their pies. Aiden parked on the love seat instead of his favorite recliner so he could be in the center of the conversations. Eric sat next to him. "I'm going to know three married gay couples," Aiden told Eric matter-of-factly. "I bet that's more than most kids know. And one couple is my dads and that's even better." "I guess that makes you a lucky boy," Eric said. "Yep, it does." "I've seen you and your friends riding your bikes a couple of times on the trail along the railroad. Thanks for stopping to wave." "I've seen you when I've gone with Gordy and with Miles and with my dads, too. But usually the train has a different engineer." "Well, for me, being a locomotive engineer is a part-time thing. I also did some electrical work for the track crew. Most employees on short line railroads work many different kinds of jobs. I am going to be operating my last train on Sunday before I leave for school. It will be from the Riverside Yard with some cars to drop off here in Mayfield, at Kentburg, and at Clark Pass. We'll be picking up cars along the way, as well. "Cool. I'll be out on my bike watching for you." "Well maybe not. The reason I'm telling you this is that I thought you might like to ride up in the cab with me from Riverside to Mayfield." Larry was watching the conversation in the loveseat and when Aiden's smile lit up the room with its brightness, he knew exactly why. "Can I really?" Aiden gushed. "You really can. I have permission from the train master and from your dads. Now I just need your okay." "OKAY!" "You will need to get up early since we're scheduled to leave the yard at eight in the morning." "I'll be up and I'll make sure one of my dads is up to give me a ride." "Your dads can both sleep in. I'll pick you up at six." "Six??" Aiden screeched which generated a chorus of laughter. Aiden blushed a deep red. "Yeah, six will be great," he conceded with a grin. The conversation from there went to trains, to Eric's ambition to work for a railroad as an electrical engineer, to Aiden's upcoming ride, and somehow worked its way to baseball, a common subject at the Miller residence. Aiden was sorry when the evening came to an end. He had been made very much a part of adult life instead of being treated like a little kid. Of course he loved Marty, and he found himself wishing he knew Rich, Eric, and Noah better. He would soon get to know Eric pretty well on his locomotive ride from Centralia's Riverside yard to Mayfield. After his dad tucked him in, Aiden took a deep breath and, for the first time, he thought about Rich – he realized that Rich was a blue-eyed blond just like he was. He found himself realizing and understanding why Marty loved Rich so much, while at the same time, he felt an understanding of the feelings of love that Eric and Noah had for each other. Even though he was only ten, it all generated good feelings inside of him. He remembered how he had found himself admiring Eric and Noah for sharing a kiss in front of everyone before dinner. All of those thoughts swirled through Aiden's head as fell into a pleasant and happy sleep with Horace happily wrapped in his arms. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 15. Mason was excited beyond belief. It was his tenth birthday and he had friends who came to see him before the morning bell to wish him happy birthday. He'd never had friends who wished him happy birthday in school—in fact, he'd had very few friends of any sort. But none of that mattered to him today. The smallest boy in the Lakeview fifth grade had all kinds of friends wishing him happy birthday and most of them were who he and many others thought of as the coolest boys in the fifth grade at Lakeview Elementary School—boys like Aiden, Miles, Gordy, and Muddy. On this day the smallest fifth grade boy at Lakeview school felt like the biggest boy in the school. To make things even more exciting, he would be having a birthday party. It would be his first ever, at least going back as far as he could remember. His mother always told him they were too poor for parties, but Aiden's dads worked things out with his mom for a party at Aiden's house. There would be a birthday cake, and ice cream, and candles, and games, and even swimming. Mason was so excited that by lunchtime he was worn out from all the fidgeting he'd been doing in class, which had all but worn out his teacher. At lunch he sat between Miles and Aiden. Messing around in Miles' bedroom after school had been more fun than jerking off Muddy at lunch had been the day before, so he wanted to sit next to Miles. And Mason would tell anybody who asked that Aiden was simply the coolest boy around. Mason would be spending the night at Aiden's house, and that was just one more totally exciting thing happening on his birthday weekend. That night Mason went with Aiden and his dads to the Mayfield Mustang football game, which was being played at Meadow Park. Gordy and Miles were at the game, too. They had come with their own parents, but the four fifth grade boys sat together in the stands. Mason made sure he was touching Aiden in some way as often as he could. They were joined at half-time by Nolan Moyer, whom they knew through baseball and soccer. Nolan lived in Meadow Park and had been sitting with his buddies. "Pretty good game, so far," Nolan said as he sat on the left side of Aiden. Mason was sitting on Aiden's right side and felt a twinge of jealousy when Nolan asked Miles, who had been on Aiden's left side, if he could sit between him and Aiden. Mason didn't know why that should upset him—after all they barely knew Nolan, but for whatever reason he didn't like seeing Nolan sitting next to Aiden. He didn't like the way the two of them looked at each other, but he knew there was nothing he could do about the situation except to virtually snuggle up with Aiden on the bleacher seat. "Yep, it's been really exciting," Aiden agreed. The game was tied 14-14 after Mayfield scored a touchdown and extra point a minute before halftime. Nick McCall had thrown a touchdown pass for the score, making it even more exciting for the Mayfield boys since they all knew Nick. "I need some candy," Mason said. Apparently everyone else needed candy as well. The entire group of boys stood as one and headed to the concession stand. Aiden felt a momentary pang of disappointment as Nolan left his side. The Mustangs played an entirely different game in the second half, pummeling Meadow Park 21-0 to finish with a 35-14 win. Mason and Aiden said good-bye to their friends and found Larry and Phil at their prearranged meeting place. While the two dads would have loved sharing the game with Aiden, they also understood the importance of Aiden being with his group of friends. There would always be opportunities to enjoy other events with their son. By the time they arrived at the Miller house it was close to ten o'clock. The boys were obviously tired and were sent upstairs to prepare for bed. Aiden did some obligatory grousing, but it was half-hearted. He was already half-way up the stairs after uttering, "Only babies go to bed this early on Friday, but I guess I'm kinda tired." Mason kept his mouth shut as he waited for Larry or Phil to yell at Aiden for complaining. The boys stripped naked. Mason took his toothbrush from his backpack and followed Aiden into the bathroom. "How come your dads didn't yell at you when you said you didn't want to go to bed?" Mason asked. "I dunno. Maybe they were tired, too." Aiden didn't get yelled at much. He decided his dads didn't get mad because they knew he was tired and didn't mean what he was saying, which was true. He just wanted to make the point that he wouldn't always accept an early bedtime on Friday, just in case his dads needed a reminder. After peeing and brushing, Aiden went to the landing to say it was tuck-in time. Before Aiden could say anything to stop him, Mason was bounding down the stairs. Aiden took off after him, knowing Mason wasn't going to stop no matter what he did. Phil and Larry were in the evening room agreeing they would hit the sack after one of them tucked in the two boys. They heard the pounding of feet entering the room and looked to see which of the boys it was. "Oh my, will you look at that, Phil," Larry said as he saw Mason racing into the room. "There's a naked varmint running amok." Aiden dashed in behind Mason. "There's another one," Phil said. "It's an invasion." Mason stopped short, sporting the goofy grin that adults thought was cute and his peers thought was annoying. "What's a varmint?" "An out of control wild animal," Aiden told him. He looked at his dads and said, "We are not varmints." "How do you know what a varmint is?" Mason asked. "It's not the first time my dads have called me one. Ignore them, because we're not wild or running amok." Mason was impressed. "Your dads teach you all kinds of words." "I was going to call you to get us tucked in, but Mason just took off." Aiden pointed to his friend and frowned at the same time he was battling an impending smile. "He's the varmint, not me. I was trying to catch him and put him in his cage." "My cage?" Mason's thinking was still very much at the concrete stage; except maybe where sex was concerned—he tended to take things literally. "I think Aiden means his bed," Larry said. "Oh, good, because I wasn't wild either. I just wanted to say goodnight." What Mason really wanted was for Aiden's dads to see how good he looked when he was naked—that he was just as grown up looking as Aiden, or Miles, or Gordy, but not Muddy. Since Muddy had hair on his dick, Mason figured he had to do some more growing up to catch up to Muddy. While Mason was trying to impress Aiden's dads, he knew he wouldn't have run downstairs naked if he'd had a boner. Having a boner in front of somebody's parents would be much too embarrassing. "How about you—VARMINTS—go upstairs and get into bed and one of us will tuck you in," Phil said. "Do we get a hug from the other dad before I go?" Mason asked. "My dads don't hug naked boys," Aiden stated in a tone that said he didn't agree with that policy. "Oh," Mason said with disappointment. Then his face lit up. "Do I still get tucked in if I'm naked?" "That you do," Phil told him. "Okay." Like Aiden, Mason didn't understand what the difference was between being naked downstairs in this room and being naked upstairs in Aiden's bed. Naked was naked, Mason thought, although having blankets over him probably was like not being naked. Aiden and Mason zipped out of the room and scrambled up the stairs. Aiden yelled that they were ready for tucking as the two boys slipped under the covers. Larry came up to Aiden's room. "No reading, tonight," Aiden said. Larry nodded and pulled the covers up to the boys' necks. He gave them each of them a kiss on the forehead, which sent a shiver down Mason's spine. He gave Mason a last happy birthday wish for the day, told the boys to have sweet dreams, turned out the light, and closed the bedroom door. Almost immediately Mason's hand found Aiden's limp cock and fondled it. Aiden grunted his approval as his friend also started rubbing his balls. "I like you, Aiden. You're my best friend." "I like you, too Mason. Happy birthday." "It was my best birthday ever and tomorrow I have my first birthday party ever." He rubbed Aiden's hardening cocklet. "I'd give you a blow job, but I'm really tired." That was the last thing Aiden heard from Mason. He felt Mason's hand drop off of his now erect penis. As he wished Mason would have stayed awake so they could mess around a little, Aiden fell asleep as well, but not before he said to himself how grateful he was to have good friends like Mason. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The next morning the boys came down to breakfast wearing long t-shirts that came down halfway between their hips and their knees. Mason was wearing one of Aiden's shirts. They wore nothing underneath, which Mason loved because it was so naughty. Larry served up pancakes and sausage. He, Phil, and the boys sat at the dining room table and ate. "I wish I could have a skinny dipping party like Aiden had for his birthday," Mason said between bites. "Your mother wouldn't approve. Even though your party is here, she's the adult in charge," Phil said. Knowing his mother all too well, Mason accepted that. "She let Mason come to my party and there was skinny dipping," Aiden reminded his dads. "She reluctantly let him come. But, give her credit, Mason, she did let you come." "She thought I didn't want to get naked," Mason giggled. "I couldn't wait for her to go so I could get naked with everybody else." "It's not fair to Mason," Aiden grumbled. He wasn't as ready to let go of the issue as Mason had been. Larry gave his son his teacher look. "This goes into the category of `none of your business'. This is between Mason and his mother and she's the one in charge." "It's okay, Aiden," Mason said. "I'll see everybody's cock at the party." It was all Larry and Phil could do not to spray out their food as they fought off a fit of laughter. Mason turned a deep red when he realized what he'd said in front of two adults, while Aiden almost fell out of his chair he was laughing so hard. The party ended up being a big success. Everyone Mason had invited came. Trent, Collin, Muddy, Miles, Gordy, Lance, and Lenny all arrived within ten minutes of each other. Larry and Phil weren't sure if they came for Mason, for the hamburgers and cake and ice cream, or for a last chance to take a dip in the pool. In the end it really didn't matter—Mason didn't need to be in the pool to float because he was floating on air. Mason managed to see everybody's cock, just like he said he would. He saw Aiden's when they got up in the morning, long before the party started. He saw four of them while changing in the basement changing area: Collin, Trent, and Gordy. He saw Muddy's in the big room in the basement when he gave Muddy a blow job. He gave Miles' cock a close look after they all ate lunch. With Aiden's permission, he and Miles went up to Aiden's bedroom, stripped down and enjoyed dry humping on Aiden's bed, kissing and rubbing until they had dry orgasms within a minute of each other. Mason considered that bit of sex to be his most special present, even if Muddy's cum was tasty. Mason thought that messing around with Miles on Aiden's bed while his mother was downstairs in the living room was one of the naughtiest things he had ever done. Mason saw the twins' cocklets in a different manner. While they were in the pool after Mason took care of business with Miles, he simply asked the twins if their cocks looked alike since they were twins. Lance and Lenny had gotten used to what they termed "Mason weirdness" and were not at all put out by the question. They got out of the pool and went into the basement with Mason following them. The brothers pulled down their swimming trunks, revealing their little one-inch nubs and tight little balls. Mason saw that their cut cocks looked identical. He didn't want to touch them (although that would eventually change), he just wanted to see them, both to satisfy his curiosity and to say that he had seen every cock at his party. Not long after that, everyone received orders to leave the pool. It was around two-thirty and time for cake and ice cream. The party would be ending after dessert, so everybody showered in the basement, although only Mason, Aiden, Miles, and Muddy showered naked. Even though the invitations said no gifts, that didn't stop money from being tucked into some of the cards. As soon as Mason noticed a five-dollar bill in his card from Trent, he shut the card and surreptitiously placed the card on his lap, carefully pulling the bill out and stuffing it down the waistband of his pants and briefs. He didn't want his mother to know he was getting money because he knew she would take it all. After Mason read a card and took out whatever money was inside the card or in the envelope, he passed the card around for everybody to read. He ended up with $40 in cash, the richest he had ever been in his entire life. The boys devoured cake and ice cream and soon after the party started to break up. Mason received more happy birthday wishes along with hugs from both Miles and Gordy. The twins' mother had arrived to pick up her sons just after dessert. She had looked around the beautiful home of Larry, Phil, and Aiden, remembering that not long before she and her children had lived in a very similar home. She thanked Larry and Phil for providing the space for the party. She thanked Mason for giving her boys an invitation, and she thanked Aiden for having been so kind to Lance and Lenny both at school and with the soccer team. "You've made them feel very special in your beautiful town," she told him. Aiden blushed from the unexpected praise. Mason was the last to leave. His mother extended her thanks, as well. Larry saw her to the door and thanked her for her help and letting Mason have his party at his house. She didn't surprise Larry when she got in the last word. "See, these boys can have a good time without having to run around naked. I am sure my Mason was much happier without being embarrassed by the barbarity, but he was very strong and let his friends have their fun. "But, I do want to tell you that since Mason met Aiden and his friends, he has never been happier. That is a credit to you and your...your...your husband on what a fine job you are doing of raising the boy." As he watched Madeline Johnson walk to her car in the driveway, Larry couldn't help but chuckle about the difficulty she had saying he and Phil were husbands. Larry watched Aiden and Mason bump fists and remembered how unhappy both of those boys had been a year ago. He went back into the house feeling great about life. Having Aiden in his life matched having Phil as his husband and partner for life. Both topped his three state baseball championships by far, which, in his mind, said a hell of a lot. That night, Horace and Aiden wordlessly followed Larry and Phil into their bedroom. Aiden crawled in between his dads. He was excited because he would be getting up early in the morning for a ride in a real-live railroad locomotive. He knew he needed the warmth and comfort of his dads to keep him calm and let him get to sleep. Even with his dads surrounding him, that was easier said than done. Aiden watched as Phil set his alarm for quarter after five. Aiden snuggled up to his dad, who knew the other reason he was sleeping with them that night; if he had to wake up early, then his dads were going to get up early as well.
