Brandon and Alex Chapter Thirty Four When Billy asked Bobby and Michael if they were lovers, his question was met first by a moment of stunned silence. Had they been that obvious about it in front of the younger boy? Neither of them had thought so, but they must have been. If they hadn't, why would he have asked? They didn't think of a couple other possibilities - they were well known as a couple at their school, but then Billy didn't go to their school yet, he was still in junior high - still talk does get around, even between schools. Then there was the possibility of the Jacobsons, who lived across the street from Bobby. It could have been neighborhood gossip. They knew Mr. Jacobson had seen them kissing, as had his twin daughters, but that wasn't it either. The truth was that yes, they had been that obvious. It was all in the way they looked at each other. The looks they gave each other were caring and loving. It was something that Billy had seen very rarely in his young life, but he had seen that look before and he recognized it. It was a lot better than the evil, lustful, even somewhat violent looks that he used to get in his cell from the Booth twins. That was a look he had been trying to forget, but couldn't. What he saw between Michael and Bobby made him feel good, while the ones he had seen in the twins' eyes always scared him. Bobby answered first, saying "Why would you ask that?" Michael was already starting to speak even as the words were leaving Bobby's mouth... "Does it bother you that we are?" Billy answered them both - facing Bobby first - "I'm not stupid, I've seen the way you look at each other. There's love in both your eyes when you look do. It's nothing like when you look at anyone else." Then he turned toward Michael and said "No, it doesn't bother me. I can tell you're in love. How could there be anything wrong with that?" A few moments later Billy reached a decision - he needed to tell them about what had happened to him. After all, they were his closest friends. They noticed that he got very serious when he told them that there was something he wanted to talk to them about. Michael got up and wrapped a towel around his waist, then offered one to Bobby before he said, "Okay Billy, but why don't we go upstairs first so Bobby and I can put some pants on? I think that might be better." Billy just nodded, although he was not so distracted as to ignore Bobby's backside as his friend walked up the steps out of the pool. When Billy followed a moment later, Michael offered him a towel so he could dry himself off as well before going into the house. Once Bobby and Michael had put their pants back on, they joined Billy, who was sitting on the bed with his towel wrapped around his waist, having shed his damp swim suit, hanging it in the bathroom to dry. "I don't really know how to say this..." was the way Billy started. Then suddenly it all came out, everything that had happened to him. The abuse he had suffered at home; the way he had acted out and been sentenced to the juvenile detention facility; the further abuse and rape at the hands of the Booth twins and the boy that had tried to help him - the boy the twins had beaten to death after they raped him. Then he talked of his being released and sent to live with Stan and Rosemary Hill, and having to testify against the twins in court. He told them about the way the twins looked at him, not only in the cell, but in court. The way they looked at him in court was the worst - like they wanted to kill him too. And he was sure they would kill him if they ever got the chance. Bobby and Michael had figured out about Billy being the one who had testified against the twins from the news reports, even though they didn't identify him by name. They had no idea about all the other things he had just told them about though - and it was truly a heart-wrenching tale. They both felt very bad for him, for everything he had been through. There were not only tears in Billy's eyes when he finished telling them his story, but also in Bobby and Michael's. Michael realized it first, and it dawned on Bobby a second later. There was a weird connection between them and Billy - Paolo. It seemed that Paolo did have at least one redeeming quality after all, something both found a little difficult to believe. Neither one spoke up to tell Billy about this connection though. That could wait until later, and besides, Michael didn't exactly have fond memories of Paolo. It was somehow a relief for Michael to hear that at least his final act in life was standing up for Billy. Michael and Bobby sandwiched Billy between them in a big hug. It was a comforting gesture, and one that Billy appreciated. They all ended up lying back on Bobby's bed once they broke the hug. Neither of the older boys had thoughts of trying to get into Billy's pants, even as cute as he was (and considering the fact that he wasn't wearing anything under the towel). They were committed to each other, and besides, Billy had told them that he wasn't particularly inclined toward gay sex or straight sex either for that matter at this point in his life. His friends understood and sympathized. Billy hadn't had much time to be a kid in his thirteen years; it was time for him to do that now, while he could. * * * Kyle had told Brandon, Alex and Joey about seeing them skinny-dipping in the pond in the woods that day which seemed so long ago now. They were embarrassed at first when Kyle admitted how he had found out about them. They hadn't been doing anything sexual with each other at all that day, but Kyle had still figured out that they were gay. He told them there had just been something in the way they acted and reacted to one another, something hard to explain. "Maybe it's 'gaydar' or something," he suggested. That got a slight chuckle from his three new friends. They had all heard the term before, but never thought much about it. 'Perhaps,' they all thought, 'there may be something to it after all.' One thing he didn't admit to them at the time was that he had jacked off while he was watching them. Maybe he would tell Joey about it later, after they got to know each other a little better. For the moment he wasn't sure how that tidbit of information would go over with his three new friends, one of them hopefully also his new boyfriend. "So what do you guys want to do for the rest of the afternoon?" Alex asked once the conversation had drifted into a lull. "How about swimming?" Joey suggested. "I cleaned the pool this morning before you guys came over." "Sounds good to me," Brandon and Alex chorused. Joey looked down at Kyle, still stroking his fingers through the older boy's hair. "Well?" he said. "How about it, are you up for a swim?" Kyle looked back up at him and said "No suit; and I doubt one of yours will fit me." It was true. While Kyle had a slim waistline, so did the three younger boys and Kyle easily had them all by at least two inches around his middle. Joey laughed a little, and then said "We don't need them, you know that, or did you forget?" "No, there's no way I could forget that," Kyle said, smiling and thinking about watching these three boys swimming and playing naked in the little stream. "But what about your parents?" he added. "I can't imagine they would approve of us skinny-dipping in your pool." "Probably not, but they're out of town for the weekend, so I don't think that's going to be a problem. Besides, you already saw us, so it's only fair," Joey said, calling on the old juvenile sense of fair play - he'd seen them in the buff, so it was only right that they got to see him naked too - you know, the old 'you show me yours and I'll show you mine' game. "Kyle could do a strip-tease for us instead if he doesn't feel like swimming," Brandon impishly suggested. "Yeah," Alex piped up, "I like that idea!" Kyle raised himself up into a sitting position, red-faced at the suggestion of giving these boys a strip show. "We'll swim," he said. Despite his apparent embarrassment as the suggestion of giving Brandon, Alex and Joey a strip show a few moments before, when they went out onto the pool deck, that's exactly what Kyle did. He waited, slightly behind them as the other three shucked off their clothes and dropped them next to lounge chairs. When they turned back toward him, he kicked off his shoes and began moving seductively, doing a slow strip tease show for them. They sat to watch, and as Kyle did his erotic little dance in front of them, they let out little hoots and cat-calls, not thinking that some of Joey's neighbors might be home and hear them over the wooden privacy fence that surrounded the backyard. As soon as Kyle had pushed his underwear down his legs and kicked them up into Joey's face, he turned and made a dash for the pool, diving in and surfacing on the far side. He turned, resting his elbows on the smooth bricks that lined the edge of the pool and called out "Well, aren't you guys coming in to swim?" Kyle watched as the three naked boys ran across the concrete and jumped into the pool. They all came directly for him, and soon there was a wild thrashing in the pool as the four boys splashed and tried to dunk each other under the water. The groping started when Kyle surfaced in front of Joey, having pushed off the bottom and coming out of the water nearly to his waist, then as he came back down, placed his hands on Joey's shoulders, forcing him under the water. Joey opened his eyes under the water, and saw Kyle's groin directly in front of his face. He thought for just a moment about taking Kyle's dick into his mouth just for a moment, but decided instead to reach out and cup Kyle's balls with his hand on his way up. As he did, Joey was able to tell that they were drawn up tight, close to his body. As Joey continued his upward motion, his hand ran across Kyle's dick, which was definitely stiff as a board. As Joey broke the surface of the water in front of Kyle, he grasped the older boy's rigid shaft, giving it a squeeze. Opening his eyes, he saw a strange look on Kyle's face. It was a look of pure ecstasy. It was just then that he felt Kyle's dick pulsing. Kyle was cumming - that was the only possible explanation. And that's exactly what was happening. Kyle was not nearly as sexually experienced as any of the three other boys in the pool with him. All he had ever done sexually with another person involved was in his quickly aborted relationship with Doug, and that certainly wasn't much. In fact, he had given up the opportunity to go 'all the way' because the way Doug was acting had made him so uncomfortable. Now here he was doing it again - cumming from just the feel of another boy's hand on his dick, and it had only been there for just a moment. He had been excited from all the body contact with the others as they tried to dunk each other between the splashing battles, but he didn't imagine for a moment that it was going to cause him to be quite THIS excited. He felt his face flush with embarrassment as he pumped his sperm out into Joey's pool while the boy's hand was wrapped around his cock. He could tell from the surprised look on Joey's face that he knew exactly what was happening beneath the surface of the water. Kyle was thinking now - thinking with the head on his shoulders instead of the one between his legs. He needed to find someone to talk to about the feelings he had for Joey now that they were coming (in more ways than one) to fruition. But who could it be? Then he realized the obvious answer - Michael Price. That was who he needed to talk to. * * * Janet Roberts saw her 'therapist' at the "Love Through Action" corporate office building again that same Saturday and got everything set up for Steven's deprogramming treatment. The plan they came up with called for him to be picked up by some of the so called counselors from the boot camp on Friday after school. From there he would be taken directly to the group's facility to begin his indoctrination, followed by a minimum four week stay to `cure' him of his homosexuality. Janet was concerned that her son would fall behind in school, and didn't want him to have to repeat a year. Still, she didn't feel she could wait to have her son get treatment for what the therapist had convinced her was a mental disorder that their program could eradicate. She was told that she should go to Steven's school the following Monday and get his records, as the facility he would be taken to was also accredited as a high school where he would be able to continue his studies. The final thing the therapist told Steven's mother was that she needed to be careful not to let on either to her son or her husband what they had planned until Steven was safely at the camp. Once a child was there, it was explained, it was always far easier to convince the reluctant parent that it really was the right thing to do. Normally though, that parent was the mother, not the father. There was another reason the group Janet Roberts had gone to didn't want her to discuss the plan with her husband - a reason that remained unspoken. That reason was that from the tale she had told them when she came to them for help, they were afraid that he would try - and try successfully - to talk her out of following through. - - - That Friday morning when she dropped him off at school, Steven's mother told him to wait for her in front of the school at the end of the day. The reason she gave him was that she wanted to take him to the mall that afternoon to get him some new clothes as she thought some of his jeans were looking too tattered to be presentable. Steven shrugged and told her he would be there. It didn't used to be unusual for his mother to do something like this, although she had been rather distant and uncommunicative toward him ever since that day, nearly three months ago now, when she had burst in on Carson and him making love in his bedroom. He hoped this was a sign that things were finally getting back to normal for his family. Steven had lunch with the normal group he was used to eating with that day - Bobby, Michael, Carson and a few others. Steven told the group about his mother taking him shopping for clothes that afternoon, and they all agreed with him that it seemed like a good sign that his relationship with his mother may finally be on the mend. Michael had more than enough credits to graduate already, so he got out of school following his after-lunch class. As he was heading out of the school, he was approached by Kyle Praegler. Kyle told him that he had something that he wanted to discuss with him, and asked if he would have some time to talk later. Michael told him that he would be back after classes let out for the day to pick up Bobby and Carson from school and they could talk then if he wanted. "Um, it's really something kinda personal," Kyle told him. "I was hoping we could talk in private." "Okay, you really can say anything you want in front of Bobby though, he won't repeat anything. If it makes you feel better, we can drop him at home after I drop Carson off and then I'll take you home and we can talk." Michael was trying to make a concession to help his friend from the football team. He knew Bobby would understand that a friend needed his help - privately - and would not begrudge him the time that was necessary to take care of it that afternoon. - - - Michael was a little early getting back to the school to pick up Bobby, Carson and Kyle that afternoon. Kyle would be occupying the seat Steven was normally in since he would be shopping for clothes with his mother that afternoon. As he pulled into the drive that ran down the front of the school, Michael noticed a dirty, white cargo van with deeply tinted side windows parked across the street with a man in each of the front seats. There was something that didn't seem quite right about it, but he couldn't quite put his finger on what it was. Michael stopped his car about a quarter of the way up the drive in front of the school, which put it just about even with the first set of double doors, the ones he knew Bobby came out since they were closest to his locker. About ten minutes later the final bell rang, announcing the end of the school day. Carson was the first to appear and he stood at the passenger side of the car, leaning in with his arms on the door frame, making small talk with Michael until the others who would be riding with them arrived. Kyle was the next to show up, and he stood next to Carson on the sidewalk, but a little back from the car at first. Michael saw him and motioned him up next to the car. He didn't know if Carson and Kyle knew each other or not, so he offered an introduction. It turned out that they were acquainted from a couple of their classes, and of course everyone in the school knew who the football players were, so Carson was well aware of Kyle. There was also the fact that Michael being gay had been the biggest item of gossip in the school for a while, and Carson being one of his close friends, well, he had become pretty well known overnight as a result - the assumption of course being that he was gay as well. That little bit had led to the confrontation with Britney Harris in the library, another incident which helped bolster his notoriety at the school. They were still waiting on Bobby when Steven came out of the school to wait for his mother. He looked up and down the length of the sidewalk that ran the front of the building and saw that she wasn't there yet. He noticed that Michael was parked in his usual spot where he waited for Bobby, with Carson and Kyle - a boy who he only knew from his reputation for being a rising star on the school's football team - standing and leaning into his car. It was a nice day, so Michael had the top down on the convertible. Steven started walking toward where his friends were, when Bobby came out one of the other sets of doors on the front of the school, almost right next to him. They stopped for a moment, exchanging greetings with each other before heading toward where Michael's car was parked. They were almost to Michael's car when a dirty white van screeched to a stop next to them and the sliding door on the side flew open. Two men jumped out and rushed at them. Neither of the boys knew what was going on - they were caught completely by surprise, but it quickly became apparent that their target was Steven. Bobby tried to grab hold of Steven as they tried to force him into the van, but one of the men pushed him down, knocking the wind out of him and stunning him for a moment. The screech of the tires barely fifteen feet in front of them drew the attention of Michael, Carson and Kyle. When they saw what was happening, they all started quickly to the aid of their friends. When Michael saw Bobby go down on the sidewalk he was filled with rage. He knew in the back of his mind that his boyfriend being knocked down was 'collateral damage' in what was going on, but it infuriated him none the less. He plowed head first into one of the two men that was trying to wrestle Steven into the van, putting him on his ass with the wind knocked out of him. At the same time, Carson and Kyle plowed into the other man, throwing him back a few feet as they did. Steven was stunned. He wasn't sure what was going on. Why were these men trying to force him into the van? And where was his mother? She was supposed to be there to pick him up from school. The next thing he knew, Michael and Kyle were rushing him toward Michael's car, pushing him into the passenger seat as Bobby and Carson jumped into the back seat of the car through the open top to be joined by Kyle a couple of seconds later. Michael had the car running and was backing out of the school driveway in mere seconds, leaving a cloud of putrid smelling rubber smoke behind as his tires spun on the pavement. He was still in reverse when he entered the street and slammed on the brakes, bringing the car to a screeching halt so he could shift into first gear. Once more he spun the tires on the car, and again each time he shifted gears as he drove away from the school, leaving yet another cloud of rubber smoke behind them. The route Michael had chosen to take them away from the school had an "S" curve that was a little tricky, and when the Mustang entered into it, he was driving at nearly 80 miles per hour. He nearly lost control of the car, but his adrenaline was pumping, and that was probably the only thing that allowed him to hold the car on the road as the rear end slid back and forth through the curves. Michael slowed down after that, and after making a few turns to take them through the neighborhoods that surrounded their school, he finally pulled off onto a dirt road that led into a clearing where he knew he could turn the car around. He was positive that there was no one following when he did. He wasn't sure what had happened exactly, even though it was only moments before, but one thing he was sure of, someone had tried to kidnap one of his friends, and hurt his boyfriend in the process. That was something that Michael would not tolerate, he needed to find out what was going on. When he stopped the car in the clearing in the woods, Michael turned to the back seat, looking Steven in the face and asked, "So what was that all about? Who were those people and what did they want with you?" "I don't have any idea, all I know is that I was supposed to meet my mom in front of the school to go shopping and all of a sudden these guys are trying to grab me and throw me into the back of that van." Steven was as much in the dark as the rest of the boys in the car. - - - The men who tried to grab Steven jumped back into their van, and tried to back out of the school's driveway to follow Michael's car, but were blocked by a mother in a large SUV who had just pulled in on her way to pick up her child. They were unable to get her to get the big vehicle out of their way, and had to make their way out through the rest of the traffic leaving the school. By the time they got out of the lot and onto the street, Michael's car was long gone. Hoyt Withers, the school's principal had witnessed the attempted abduction through the window of his office, and called the police before the van managed to make it halfway to the school's exit. He had taken down the tag number of the van as it went past his window and gave it to the police dispatcher. The van was only a little more than a block from the school when they saw the first police car headed toward them with its emergency lights flashing and siren wailing. 'Shit,' the driver thought. He knew someone at the school must have seen them trying to pick up their new patient and called the police. His thought was confirmed a fraction of a second later when the police car slid to a halt sideways across the road in front of them. The driver gave consideration to trying to back the van up and turn around to make a run for it, but a glance in the rear view mirror told him this was a bad idea. Two more police cars were approaching from that direction as well. The driver shifted the transmission into park and turned the engine off before opening his door to step out. Four uniformed officers and a plain clothes detective had their pistols drawn and trained on the van as its occupants emerged. There were a total of four men in the van. The driver, two 'counselors' who were the muscle men that had attempted to wrestle Steven into the van and a 'doctor' who would have administered a sedative once they had him in the van. The doctor tried to offer the police an explanation of what had just happened, but they weren't interested in listening at the moment. "Save it for the station," the detective told him. Enough squad cars arrived to transport the prisoners separately to the police station, where the uniformed officers were instructed by Detective Peters to have them placed into separate interview rooms until he could get there to take their statements. Once they were on their way to the police station and a tow truck from the police impound yard had departed with the van, Detective Peters drove back to the school to question Principal Withers about what he had seen when he called the incident in. Hoyt Withers wasn't able to provide much information about the incident, but there was one key piece of information he did have. That was who the men had tried to kidnap, the names of the boys who had prevented the abduction and the car they had left in. Detective Peters was already well acquainted with Michael Price from the Paolo Santori investigation. On his way back to the police station to question the suspects he radioed for a squad car to go to each of the boys' homes to look for them. There were questions the boys would need to answer. - - - "I caught a look at the back of the van," Kyle said. "There were two bumper stickers. One said 'Love Through Action' and the other one said 'God hates fags'." "Isn't 'Love Through Action' one of those right-wing Christian groups that says they can cure gayness?" Bobby asked. Bobby's question triggered a brief discussion, which ended up with the boys coming to the correct conclusion that Steven's mother had probably been behind the incident. They were smart enough to figure out that her telling him that she wanted to take him shopping had been a ploy to get Steven into a position where he could be grabbed and spirited away. Finally, Michael said "Well, we can't take you home right now then. We need to figure out some place where we can hide you out until we can find out exactly what is going on." In the end, they decided to take Steven to Bobby's house since his parents would not be home for four hours or so. Then they wouldn't be there that long anyway, based on their habits. They were almost there when Michael saw the flashing lights on top of a police car behind him signaling for him to pull over. * * * Comments and feedback are welcomed at t_macd@comcast.net (I will answer all e-mails sent to me, but please realize that my job requires me to travel a great deal, so it might take a while sometimes), flamers will be ignored by me, but will meet with an untimely and horrible demise as the result of the curse of the old gypsy woman who lives across the lake from me, and has inexplicably taken a liking to me.
