I intend to write many more stories in the future and give them to this great archive. With love, Niceguy98 :-) ------------------------------------------------------------------- EPILOGUE: April 6th 2016 - School Assembly Hall, Leavers Disco "And now, ladies and gentlemen." the DJ crooned, "This song goes out to all you loveboats out there!" I looked over at Cameron and he smiled. I raised my eyebrow, my mouth halfway to a drink. His grin grew more pronounced as the song began. I inhaled sharply, almost choking on my beer. "Oh my god!" I gasped, spluttering slightly. Cameron started laughing. "I don't know what your spluttering about!" he said incredulously, "I did always tell you I would get you back!" I held out my hand and he took it. I placed my beer at the side and walked over to the centre of the dancefloor. Surprisingly, no-one else was dancing, and everyone was holding their cameras and phones. My eyebrow raised in confusion. Suddenly, my two best girl friends Genoa and Victoria walked into the centre as well, holding placards. They glanced at each other, at Cameron and then to me, finally raising their placards. They read: "Will you marry me?" I put my hand over my heart and my jaw dropped. I turned 90 degrees and saw him. He was down on one knee, his head raised with his trademark crazy grin plastered over his face, his hands outstretched. In his hand, he held a blue velvet box with a gleaming silver ring inside it. I took a deep breath, willing myself to try and stay calm, but it didn't work. "Yes!" I squealed. "Oh my god, yes!" An extremely loud cheer went up and Cameron stood up, putting the box into my palm. "Look inside." he whispered. I looked on the inside of the ring. Etched in to the inside was a sentence: "Cameron and Grant, got out of the friendzone March 2010!" My stupid grin got even bigger. "I love it!" I gasped. "But I love you even more." A collective "Aw!" went up. That was all it took. I grabbed Cameron's cheek and brought his lips to mine for a passionate kiss. I let him go at it for a few seconds then pulled him off and brought him to my shoulder. I gently slipped the ring on and put the box in my back pocket. "Now!" I whispered. "How about that dance?" March 20th 2018 – Bunchrew House Hotel, Highlands "Do you, Grant Roberston, take Cameron Black to be your lawful wedded husband?" the minister said. I looked over to the young man standing next to me, looking resplendent in his full dress kilt, the love of my life. I took his hand and smiled. "I do." I said, squeezing his hand. "And to you, Cameron Black, take Grant Robertson to be your lawful wedded husband?" he continued. "I do." Cameron said, winking at me. "I now pronounce you husband and husband." the minister said, a huge smile on his face. "You may now kiss the groom." Cameron looked at me, his beautiful green-blue eyes staring right into me. He exhaled quietly. I gave him an almost inperceivable shake of the head. "I know." I whispered. I brought myself closer to him, laid my hand on his shoulder and began kissing him. Our entire lives together flashed before us as an enormous cheer rose from the room. I ended the kiss and laid my forehead on his, staring right into those green-blue eyes, allowing myself to be lost in them. After a few moments, we turned around, I brought our entwined hands above our heads, and the cheering intensified. I panned over the crowd. There, in the front row, I saw my mother, my sister and Alex (my sisters boyfriend) clapping and cheering with enormous smiles on their faces. Sitting next to them was Cameron's mum and sister, my new sister-in-law, smiling at us. Behind them, taking up most of the room, were our old classmates. I could see David with his wife Kathryn, and Aidan with his boyfriend Como, alongside almost everyone else who were at that fateful camp, even Connor! I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder and turned around to see my best man right next to me. Jake smiled at me and I brought him into my arms. "Well done, bro!" he said, "You got the guy of your dreams!" I pulled away and clapped him on the shoulder. "No." I said, "He got me!" Jake smiled. "And I got my Batman cake!" I added, laughing heartily. HALF AN HOUR LATER: Everyone stayed for the reception. The place had enormous outside gazebos so that wasn't a problem. The Batman cake was a huge hit with everyone. We split the Batman figurine between us, but I almost made Cameron choke by putting too much in his mouth. After he recovered and everyone sat down, Jake leaned over and whispered, "I thought you had a big dick?" Cameron nearly fell out of his chair. I pretended to look wounded, then stuck my tongue out at him. He just laughed and stood up, clinking his spoon against the side of his glass. "Attention, everyone?" Jake raised his voice over the crowd. The general hubbub disappeared. "As the best man, it's my job to tell you all about my two best friends right here, and how these reprobates met!" he said, winking at the two of us. We winked back as everyone laughed. "These two had been best mates since pre-school, but it took a week in the idyllic beauty of the Highlands to bring them together." he said wistfully. "I happen to know that they made a vow with each other that week." Everyone looked at him expectantly, as he paused for effect. "...But being 12, it just was to get a Batman cake for their wedding!" he finally finished, gesturing at the remnants of the cake. I looked at Cameron, as we both remembered that moment. Everyone else laughed loudly, the enormous cake-shaped elephant in the room answered. "And I have here, a little inscription that they put under their bed where they first kissed, and what is now etched into Grant's engagement ring!" Jake said, pulling out his phone, waving it over the projector at the side of the hall and flicking the screen. The projector whirred into life and threw out a clear as day picture of our little inscription. Both our jaws dropped. Neither of us expected anyone else to find it! "I've always wanted to know guys, what did you use for that?" Jake questioned, as everyone else stared in quiet awe. I took Camerons shoulder. "We used my dad's old Swiss Army knife!" Cameron chimed in. Jake smiled. "I know he would be proud of you." Jake said. Cameron smiled in appreciation. "Seriously guys, I love you both like brothers, and I wish you nothing but the best." he continued, wiping his eye. "So let's raise a glass, to Cameron and Grant!" he shouted, raising his glass. "To Cameron and Grant!" everyone chourused, cheering. Cameron and I stood up and held out our arms. Jake stepped into us and we squeezed each other as the cheering intensified. I winked at Cameron and we gave Jake our trademark double kiss on the cheek. Jake kissed us back, laughing and joking all the way. THREE YEARS LATER: It had taken three years, but it finally happened. We had finally been able to adopt. Two beautiful young brothers whom we wanted to give another chance in life. Despite not being related by blood, they were as much brothers as any kin. Toby (9) and Calum (6) were both extremely happy that this had happened to them. Toby was a little blond haired, green eyed bombshell who stood 4.5 wiry feet off the ground, while Calum was his opposite. Dark hair, brown eyes and 3 feet tall, and while he would never be considered fat, he was squarer built than his brother. They loved us as much as we loved them and called us "Daddy Grant" and "Daddy Cammy", even before it was official. I could see the brotherly love they had in the way that they looked at each other and in the way that they always looked out for one another, never feeling safe without the other there. We had promised them separate rooms, but they had told us that they wanted to sleep together, as it was "The only way they felt safe". We had no objections, as the two of us felt exactly the same way. When we had suggested a camping trip and they jumped at the chance, so we called up Mr Curtis, who was still in charge of the camp ground 10 years on, and arranged Cabin 6G and 6F for a week. We drove up in our car, the boys happily bubbling away in the back until they fell asleep halfway there. I looked over to their little sleeping forms in the back seat. They moaned in their sleep and their hands moved closer to each other. When they touched, they entwined and their faces stretched into a smile. Cameron looked in the mirror and saw them. He snorted quietly. "They look just like we do." he said, wistfully. I smiled, just as the campground came into sight. It hadn't changed at all since then, and neither had Mr Curtis. He greeted us both with a hug and warm smiles, and ruffled our sleepy boys hair affectionately. He told us that our cabins were ready and everything was exactly the same, including the beds. Cameron and I stared at him, open-mouthed. He just winked and wished us a pleasant stay. Toby and Calum ran in front of us and bounced up and down in front of their cabin. We opened the door, they dropped their stuff and bounced on the pushed-together beds. "I love it Daddies!" Toby shouted, running into our arms. We both kissed his cheeks and threw him back onto the bed. Calum jumped up as well, so we gave him the same treatment. Two laughing, squirming boys on a bed is the most beautiful sight in the world. I looked at Cameron and smiled, memories of what had transpired here coming flooding into my minds eye. He smiled back and took my hand. "Hey boys?" I said. They stopped laughing and looked at me, although they were still bouncing. "Why don't you have a look under the bed and tell me what you can see?" I affectionately challenged. They looked at me with confusion, but happily bounded under the edge of the bed, giggling. They squirmed under the bed for a few moments, then they both gasped together. "Is that about Daddy Cameron and Daddy Grant?" I heard Calum whisper. I smiled and pulled Cameron closer to me, our sides together. "Yes it is!" Cameron said, making the two of them jump. They moved out from under the bed, looked at each other, gave a collective "Whoa!" and turned to us. "When did you guys do that?" Toby said, looking at us in awe. Cameron and I sat on the bed and gestured to the boys. Toby sat on my knee and Calum sat on Cameron's, beaming at us with their extremely cute faces. "Well," I said, squeezing Toby's shoulder. "It all started in the spring of 2010..."
