Chapter 13 : Back to normal
As the boys enjoyed their chores in the back garden the dads are busy cooking a large dinner. “Dinner is roast pork with crackling and garden veggies with thick brown gravy.” Conner’s dad announced. “Oh wow dad, you lot sure made a lot of food here.” Cooper said as he grabs some pork meat and then some carrots and potatoes. The other boys also fill their plates and quickly dig in. ‘This is so yummy and I love it,” Dillon said as he thanked the dads for their cooking skills. “Not just us who helped also you lot growing all the veggies sure helped out,” Taka’s dad quoted.
“We all like and enjoy gardening,” Taka replied. “I sure do,” Dillon grinned. “You like being naked in the garden Dillon.” Cooper quoted. “We all do.” Taka replied. “Right you lot, tomorrow morning we are all heading to the COVID 19 check in center to get a COVID 19 check-up and we all have to be checked out.” Cooper’s dad announced. “We do, why’s that dad?” Cooper asked. “Cos we have been around other people and we don’t know if they have COVID and it’s a quick check-up.” Cooper’s dad remarked.
“So where do we go to get checked out dad.” Cooper asked again. “At the Center of town where there is a COVID 19 drive in.” Dad replied. “Right I will get the guys up and ready to leave after breakfast dad.” Cooper said. “Thanks son.” Dad replied. The boys ate their dinner and had their desserts and then relaxed in the TV room watching some Australian talk shows.
The next day everyone is dressed and ready to be checked out for a COVID 19 inspection. The bus is cleaned up and everyone is dressed for a winter’s day out. After the check=up the families are going to do some shopping and have a long list of items needed to be bought. “It’s over there and we have to stop and get out and sit in those chairs.” Dad said to the group. The dads went to two counters and the boys went to 4 different counters and unloaded their carts.
“Dad we have problem here,” Cooper yelled out. “What’s the problem here?” Cooper’s dad asked the checkout assistant. “It’s about all this food, you can’t go and fill all these carts.” The woman moaned. “Well that’s hard luck as we have a paper that says we can grab what we like as we all live together.” Cooper’s dad replied as he held the paper allowing them to buy what they needed.
The manager walks out and says to all the staff that these people can shop and buy what they need. “Sorry about that sir, we have new staff here and this one didn’t know you had an exception,” The manager remarked. “Ok, we always shop here and most of the staff now knows us so we will let it slide but if it happens again we will take our shopping list elsewhere.” Dad quoted.
The boys bagged all the food and then rolled the filled carts to the large bus. “So I have some nice finger food and if you want a sticky bun just yell out.” Dillon said as he grabbed a finger bun. All the boys and dads grabbed a bun and quickly gobbled it. “So we have to see about getting your hair cut as you all are looking like a bunch of girls.” Cooper’s dad announced.

The dads checked the hair center and found that no one has booked the seats so all the boys walked in wearing their face masks and sat down. Cooper and Dillon are first as are Taka’s dad and Jasper’s dad. “It looks like you all need a bloody good haircut. The dads are talking about the second wave of COVID 19 spreading around the UK the second time and how the pubs and a lot of shops will have to close down again.
“I hate to say this but the boys was looking forward to heading back to school but now they will have to wait till next year now.” Jasper’s dad quoted. “I now understand why they had to stop the kids from returning to school but why make it so long as in the new year?” Taka’s dad asked. “Cos the teachers don’t need to be catching COVID 19 as most kids can be a carrier and spread it to the teachers.” Conner’s dad quoted. “Oh yes I can relate to that now.” Taka said.
“That’s why we have to sit here and not at our local swigging down beers.” Jasper’s dad chuckled. “OK that’s how it is going down we have to stock up on our beers before the stores run out.” Cooper’s dad informed the other dads. “So tomorrow I will go to the pubmart and grab a few trollies of boxed beers.” Cooper’s dad replied. “Sounds like we can drink to that.” Taka’s dad chuckled.
