So here you all go. From Chapter 14 "Hi Domenico. Sorry I haven't had the chance to welcom... Whoa you look frightened. Did something happen?" "I hope not, but believe it or not, I'm worried about Rod. Nobody's seen him since dinner last night, he wasn't in any of his classes, missed breakfast and lunch. I just know something's wrong. Can you get into his room and check?" "Well, it's not normally allowed, but since it's been like 22 hours and nobody's seen him, I guess I can justify an exception. I'm going to have to ask you to wait here though. It'll be bad enough for me to enter his room uninvited if he's just sick or something, you coming along can only make it worse." I agree, but I'm standing in Jim's doorway watching down the hall. Jim knocks a few times, waits about 5 or 10 seconds, which seem like an eternity to me. He knocks again, apparently still no response so he opens the door and goes in. It can't be more than 5 seconds later he's running back to his room and grabbing the telephone. I'm scared out of my mind by now. "Hi Vince. It's Jim in 202... No, not good at all. I need an ambulance right away, room 210... I don't know. Rod's passed out, vomit and empty liquor bottles all over the place... Yeah, of course I'll wait there." "I knew it. Is he alive?" "Yes Domenico, he's alive, but if he drank anywhere near all of what is in the empty bottles, he may not be for long. Can you go downstairs so you can get the EMTs up to the right room as soon as possible?" "Yeah, sure." I get downstairs and wait by the front door. It's only been a minute or two so the rest of the guys are coming back from class. "Waiting for a delivery DM?" "No Don, the ambulance. Rod may have drank himself to death." CHAPTER 15 - Rod's Crisis The EMTs arrived and I brought them upstairs to his room. They were doing all sorts of things to him, but thankfully he was still alive. It sounded like they weren't afraid of him dying, but what do I know? I'm just a 12 year old kid. Jim's been making phone call after phone call. Everybody's doing something and I'm just frozen in place watching it all happen, like it's a dream or something. No, wait, a nightmare, that's what it is. I'll wake up soon and none of this will all have happened. I'll miss Jake, but if he was just pretend anywa... "There you are. Come on DM, you don't need to watch this." "Jake? You're real?" "Of course I am. Are you OK? Do I need one of the EMTs to check you out?" "I'm not dreaming? This is all real?" Jake grabs me, pulls me to him and kisses me. It seems like the whole dorm is there watching everything that's going on. It doesn't seem to bother Jake. Jake breaks the kiss. I'm still numb. "Does that feel like a dream? Come on, let's get you to our room. They've got it handled. Jim will keep us up to date as he learns things." "Oh, thank God. I thought I was dreaming all this. Is Rod OK?" "I don't know." We're at our room by this time. Jake sets me down on my bed and sits next to me. Once again just holding me like he's done so many times before. There's a knock on the door a couple minutes later. Jake gets up, opens the door and talks quietly to whomever is there. He turns to ask if it's OK for the rest of the guys to come in. I nod, still not completely sure what's real or not. "Hey DM. You OK?" "You're Don, right?" "Yeah. Wha..." "He's a little confused. I think he's kind of in shock. If it doesn't clear up soon, I think the EMTs will need to make a return trip." "Wow, this is all fucked up. What do we do?" "I'm not sure Marcus, but maybe this will help. DM... Domenico!" "Yeah. Bill Right?" "That's right. You're gonna be OK. I heard one of the EMTs say Rod was stable as they were putting him into the ambulance." "Rod? Oh, yeah. I don't mean to chase you guys, but I think i need a nap." I lie down, curl up into a ball, and am asleep in seconds. The guys all leave after talking quietly for a while. Jake stays to watch over Domenico. We'll check on Rod while Domenico is asleep. They're just bringing Rod into the ER. The EMTs explain the situation, also saying the boy's parents were contacted and permission was given to treat him. "OK, let's get his stomach pumped so no more alcohol gets absorbed into his system." Again, there is a flurry of activity around Rod. After a while the ER doctor is satisfied with Rod's status and starts the ball rolling to admit him. The hope is that when he wakes up there won't be any brain damage. His blood alcohol level measured .35, so Rod was fairly well intoxicated. As is often the case, his passing out may have prevented any permanent damage. Now the wait begins. Rod's still in the ER when his parents show up. Rod lives fairly close, in Cleveland, so his parents arrived quickly. Unfortunately for them, there's nobody there who can tell them why Rod did this. The doctor tells them Rod will be asleep for a good 10 - 12 hours. Rod's mother stays while his dad heads to the school to hopefully get some answers. Rod Sr. arrives at the Dean's office, going straight to the top. Fortunately the Dean was Jim's first call so he knows a little about what's going on. "Dean Canton, I'm Rod Quincy Sr. I need to know what happened to my son. Where was the supervision? How did he get the alcohol? What is the school going to do about this?" "Slow down Mr. Quincy. I understand your frustration, but right now we don't know the answer to the alcohol question. Apparently his drinking started last night after lights out, so Rod was alone in his room. We do have a little understanding about why he may have done it. If you'll give me a couple minutes, I'll get his floor monitor to bring over one of his friends." "Do whatever you need to, to get me answers." The Dean calls Jim and asks him to come by and bring one of Rod's friends to help explain to Mr. Quincy, what may have happened. Bill decides to go to give Rod's dad a piece of his mind. A few minutes later Jim and Bill show up. Jim explains how one of the boys in Rod's circle was discovered as gay and Rod didn't take it very well. Bill takes over, trying to keep his anger under control. "Mr. Quincy. I was Rod's roommate until I couldn't take his homophobic treatment to one of our other friends. Domenico had to go to the hospital after Rod disowned him in a pretty mean way. After he came back, Domenico was trying to be nice to Rod, as much as he could. I think when Rod found out about Domenico's boyfriend, and another boy that probably is gay, he left in a hurry. Nobody..." "Dean Canton, are these three faggots being removed from the school?" "No, and I see no reason for it, not to mention no reason for you to use that kind of language." "I guess the apple really doesn't fall far from the tree. Sorry Dean, but I'm not staying for this." "That's OK William, I think we've all said enough for now. Mr. Quincy, I will keep you informed on any further developments, but I think the real story will have to come from Rod himself." "He'd better be able to tell us or I'll sue this fucking school." Everybody leaves the Dean to start investigating. Unfortunately the two people best suited to explain what happened are asleep. One from alcohol and the other just being stressed out. The waiting game continues. Saturday October 8 Jake's alarm is going off so they can get breakfast before they close up. "Good morning Domenico." "Morning Jake. I had the weirdest dream last night. Rod got pissed off from being surrounded by gay boys and drank himself into the hospital." "Hate to tell you this my love, but that wasn't a dream." "Oh God, no. Wait. My love? Oooh getting all romantic on me. We may have to do something about that after breakfast. But I'm starving. I don't even remember having dinner last night." "You didn't. After you played the hero and probably saved Rod's life by getting Jim to check on him, you were confused as shit and just crashed. I mean crashed hard. You said you were taking a nap, curled up, and fell asleep almost immediately." "I'm sure you're exaggerating about me saving his life. But if it wasn't all a dream, I can understand why I was confused. Anyway, let's get dressed and go get breakfast before there are just crumbs left." We go down to the cafeteria for breakfast. The rest of the guys get there but we're not two steps into the room when a round of applause practically hits me in the face. "Told ya you're a hero." "OK, stop it everyone, anyone else would have done the same thing." Someone I don't even know, probably an 8th responds. "Not if we'd been treated the way you were by him if the stories are true." "Jake. What stories?" "Later." "So has anybody heard anything about Rod?" "Not yet DM, rumor has it the Dean will be getting an update from the hospital. He's already called an optional all hands for 11:00." "Thanks, um, shoot, with all that's happened, I forgot your name." "Gene." "Jones. Got it. Thanks Gene." "No worries." Jake and I finally get breakfast. Mine gets cold with practically everybody congratulating me and shaking my hand. The whole school knows I'm gay and apparently most of the kids don't care. A lot of them said I was brave. Yeah, like I went to the hospital's nut barn because I was brave. Jake and I go back to our room to wait for the update. After my confused period yesterday, I'm so glad Jake is real that we start making out. We end up naked on my bed, each of us fondling the other. I start kissing down Jake's body and take his cock into my mouth. "Oh God DM. You've gotten so good at that, I'm not going to last long. Aaaah, ahhhh, arrrghhh." Jake comes explosively in my mouth. I know we just did this the night before last, but now I can't seem to get enough of it. After Jake recovers for a few minutes, he returns the favor. I have what I think is my own most explosive orgasm ever. We just cuddle for a while afterward. "Hey Jake?" "Yeah DM." "I love you." "I love you too Domenico." "I'm going to order some lube. I want you to make love to me." "Are you sure? You'd said I was probably too big for you." "We can work on loosening me up for a few days, maybe by next Friday or Saturday I'll be ready." "Well, if you're sure. And I want you to make love to me too." "I'm definitely sure. What did that guy mean when he said if the stories were true?" "I haven't heard much, they usually clam up when I get close, but one is that he caught you with someone else and threatened to beat you both up." "Not too far from the truth. Thanks. We'd better get dressed so we can get over to the auditorium." "Good morning students. Thank you for turning out this morning. It looks like almost everyone in 7th and 8th grades are here. I even recognize a few high school students with younger brothers. I know school-based functions on a Saturday aren't very popular, so I'll try to be brief. I'm guessing most of you have heard of the recent incident regarding one of our 7th graders. You probably all know who I am referring to. The first point I want to make is that, while thankfully this is an isolated incident, I must reiterate that alcohol is not permitted on the campus. While it may normally be an expulsion level offense, this situation may warrant further investigation before I come to that decision. With that in mind, I also want to share a status of Rod Quincy's health. Rod is awake and coherent...." Cheers fill the auditorium, mine probably being the loudest. I won't be cheering long as I was soon to find out. "Yes. We're all quite happy that this didn't turn into a tragic incident. And for that, we have a special student to be thankful to. This young man had a conflict with Rod that sent him to the hospital for a few days. And even with his severe discomfort with Rod's previous actions, when Rod hadn't been seen for almost a day, he raised the concern causing his floor monitor to check on Rod. Uninvited visits by the monitors are generally not permitted, but this young man persisted in his feeling that something was amiss. So, join me in giving a heartfelt Stephen Walsh School for Boys thank you to Domenico Martini. Stand up Domenico." Once again cheers and applause fill the auditorium. I stand up blushing and embarrassed by the attention. I really hope Dean Canton isn't going to ask me to give a speech. Thankfully at least that wish comes true. "I know you're modest about this, not to mention extremely embarrassed by the attention by the look on your face, so I won't ask you to come up and speak DM. Yes, I do know what's going on around the school. DM is what Domenico's closest friends call him. OK. I'll give you the rest of your Saturday back. Thank you for your attention." I'm wondering if I can get out of here without a hundred and thirty or so kids and teachers or administrators fawning all over me. Unfortunately this wish is not granted and I spend the next half hour saying `it was really nothing' or `thank you' or at every even momentary break, `Jake get me out of here.' The love fest finally wanes enough for me to escape. But oh joy, it's lunchtime and there's still no escape from the attention. My 15 minutes of fame turns into about an hour before I can finally turn around without another congratulator in my face. Jake and I finally escape back to our room, accompanied by his brothers, Aaron and Carl, two of the brothers that Dean Canton referred to. Aaron, the senior, is the first to speak up. "We may not have known you before Domenico, but Jake's told us a lot about you and I'm sure I speak for Carl as well in saying we're real proud of you. One for helping out a not so nice person that nobody would blame you for hating, but also for having the balls to accept being gay and not staying in that hole you tried to hide in." Carl agrees but I look at Jake. "Do you tell your brothers everything?" "When I'm proud of my boyfriend, yes. But no, not the everything that you are probably referring to." "Too bad this happened though. Jake was hoping to bring you back to the house for the long weekend, but not initially knowing when you'd get out of the hospital, and definitely the last 24 hours, that couldn't happen. However, after this latest news, mom and dad are almost desperate to meet you. There's no way you're getting out of coming for Thanksgiving." "I'll figure out a way to save someone else's life right before that so I have a good excuse." We all laugh about that. "I'm just so happy you're back at a point where you can joke around." With that, Jake grabs me and gives me a really passionate kiss, apparently not caring that his brothers are there. What the hell. Neither do I. Since we've already heard that Rod is awake, let's pop over to St. Mary's again to see what he has to say to his parents. And, for that matter, what they have to say to him. They walk into his room after being notified he's awake. "Hi mom, dad. I'm really sorry about this." "Don't worry about that now honey. We're just glad you're OK." "Thanks mom. What about you dad, you don't look very happy about this." "Well, like your mother, I'm glad you're getting better, but I do have to say I'm disappointed in you." "I know. Probably not half as disappointed I am in myself. I just, I guess felt overwhelmed. A couple of my best friends are gay. You've always taught me to hate gays. But I was so conflicted. I like these guys. We've been hanging out together since the year started. I was so confused I thought I needed to be numb. I know, stupid option." "So where did you get the alcohol?" "Also stupid. I walked over to the high school, asked around a bit and gave a guy with a fake ID $20 to buy me a bunch of those little bottles. I said get me a bunch of different ones, whatever he could buy with the rest if the $50. I didn't know what I would like. After two of them, it didn't matter anymore, I just kept drinking. I passed out somewhere along the line." "And you're damn lucky you did. They said you polished off 6 of them and started the 7th. If you got through all 10... I don't even want to think about it." "I'm sorry dad. I know I screwed up big time and you'll lose the tuition and everything because they'll kick me out..." "Fortunately the Dean hasn't decided on that yet. He thinks the circumstances bringing you to that point may allow him to just put you on probation." Shit. Straight or not, I'd blow the guy to make that happen. Not saying THAT out loud though. "Wow, that would be great." "I am going to request they move you off that floor, away from... those boys." "NO!!! You can't do that." "Don't tell me what I can or can't do boy!" "Fine, I won't. But if you do, I'll just stop going to classes and fail out." "What am I going to do with him Ellen?" "You're going to let him go back to school, where he was before. If he can be man enough to be able to accept his gay friends, at 37 you should be able to as well." "But..." "No buts Rodney. Deal with it or I'm finally moving out." I'm wondering what the fuck is going on with my parents. But one thing I do know, mom is winning this battle, and she's on my side and finally standing up to the old man. Way to go mom!" "And just what the fuck are you smiling about Rodney?" Fuck it. Mom can stand up to him, so can I. "I'm smiling because mom has finally stopped putting up with your bulls, crap after all these years." "Fine. Go back to your faggot friends and hide behind your mother's skirt. I'm leaving. There's got to be a bar around here somewhere. You can get a ride home yourself Ellen." Dad leaves and surprisingly mom's not crying like she usually does after he blows his top. But now I'm thinking this one is all my fault. "I'm sorry mom. Dad left because I screwed up." "Never think that honey. Your father left because he was acting like an asshole one too many times. I'm going to leave, but I'll be back tomorrow. I'm going to see if your uncle Keith will come over and change the locks for me. Your father has pushed me one too many times. Now he's going to feel me push back. Good night honey. Remember, it's not your fault, this was a long time coming." "OK. Good night mom. Love you." "I love you too honey." Wow. I can hardly believe it, mom takes a stand. But, shit, if they get a divorce, what happens to me? Next Up - "Back to Normal. But What Is Normal, Really?"
