Growing up in a small town never satisfied her mentally, emotionally, or culturally. The opportunities in a place like New York City seemed as endless as the night sky. Diving in head first was always her way of life, and this wasn't going to be any different. By this time next week she'd be settling in her new loft apartment overlooking the skyline just outside of Manhattan. The simple thought of it sent chills of excitement all of over her body. Victoria wasn't a materialistic kind of girl, which defiantly had its benefits when it came to packing up her life. Even though she wasn't due to leave for a week her suite cases were ready except for the bare essentials to get her by. She wanted to spend her last few days saying her goodbyes to her family and friends. She could still hear the sound of her mothers high pitched voice playing in her head when she broke the news to her that Samantha was going to be the one taking her to the airport. "... but honey, I'm your mother! How could you deny me the right to watch you get on an airplane and leave me forever?" She always played the over dramatic victim. Thankfully that wasn't a quality she inherited from her mother. Victoria did, on the other hand, look strikingly like her mother. Her hair was a dark brown, almost black. When the sunlight hit it just right you could see a almost velvet like red running through her long waves. People always told her that her eyes were the most beautiful thing about her. An emerald green with flakes of gold. No one in her family were sure where she got them from seeing as almost everyone had dull brown eyes. Victoria could hear her cell phone ringing at the bottom of her giant purse. That ring tone made her nervous and anxious, she knew she had to answer it before it stopped. "Hey honey, how are you?" She couldn't help but smile. "I'd be better knowing that you're already in the car V." "I'm walking out the door right now Sammy" She replied knowing very well she was still in the house digging for her keys and sunglasses. Samantha had been Victoria's best friend for over 12 years. Knowing her better than she knew herself, Sammy knew V wasn't even outside of the house yet. The ride to the airport was quick but there was heaviness in the air that was hard not to notice. Sammy was against Victoria's decision to relocate so far away from home but as her best friend she knew her support was a must at the time. They said their goodbyes and promised to call each other every day. Victoria walked away as tears streamed down her face, she refused to look back. After a week in the big apple and a few trips to the store to buy things from cushions to spoons and cups the realization of her decision was kicking in hard. She had absolutely nobody in New York. The happiness that she was expecting to feel had wore off after the second day and even though she waited for it to come back it was gone. Sammy was going crazy; she missed her friend like a maniac. She wanted to see her, go have coffee with her, take walks, and just hang out. That old saying that her grandma always said was now beginning to sound like the only truth she knew. "You don't know what you have until you lose it." Her grandma's voice kept repeating on her mind. After all those years of knowing Victoria she had been able to ignore her burning desire to spill her guts and tell her how she truly felt about her. Instead she had opted for ignoring the feelings and hope that they would go away. They didn't. If anything they were now stronger than ever. Every time she closed her eyes she would see Vicky smiling at her with those dreamy green eyes and her dark hair. "Sam!" her co-worker yelled across the field. "What's up Leo?" she replied and walked his way. "I need a hand with these barrels please." He replied and shifted his body to the right to make the barrels visible. Sam worked at a zoo. She loved her job and her favorite animal, the giraffe. "What's going on? You've been extremely quiet lately." He was more than a coworker. He was a good friend. "Well remember how I told you that Vicky was leaving to NY. It's been a week and I just can't stop thinking about her and missing her." "Oh man, that sucks. I'm sorry." He looked like he really meant what he was saying. "Yea it does." She helped him and went back to work contemplating her next move. Home didn't look like an appealing place to be at the time so she went to the bar where so many times she had played pool and gotten drunk with her best friend whom it looked like she had lost forever now because when she had the chance to speak her mind she had chickened out. Seven hours later with a hangover Sam found herself standing in the middle of central park wondering whether a left or a right would take her closer to her love. The piercing sound of her cell phone cut right into her dream. "3:17 in the morning? Someone better be dying" V thought to herself as she tried to figure out where her phone was without having to open her eyes. "Hello?" she managed to mumble. "Victoria? Sorry to bother you so late, it's Leo." "No, it's cool. Everything okay? What's going on?" V liked Leo. He was a good guy. She hung out with him whenever Sammy decided to bring him along but they never had that personal kind of friendship. "Have you heard from Sammy? She left work, mentioned she was going to the bar. I got a drunken phone call from her a few hours later but I could hardly hear her. I thought she said something about New York but I figured she was just venting about you." He sounded worried. "Have you checked her apartment? She probably passed out on the couch." Victoria's anxiety started to kick in. Her chest was getting tight. "I'm on my way there now." "I probably should have thought this through a little bit better." Sammy said to herself as she stuck her completely dead cell phone back into her pocket. She decided her best bet was to find a store where she could buy a charger. All she could think about was getting to V and wrapping her arms around her perfect body. After wandering a few blocks and searching a few stores that were filled with nothing but items branded with I LOVE NEW YORK, she was beginning to think a pay phone might have been the way to go. Walking into what seemed to be a small electronics store she searched the walls and found her charger. "It was meant to be" As she smiled from ear to ear. "Is that it for you?" Sammy looked up to notice a pair of caramel colored eyes staring back at her. She had a pretty smile and a name tag labeled Mia. "Unless you have the love of my life hiding behind the counter, this is it." Giving her a smile back. "You never know. Your total is $15.92." So much for quitting smoking. 4 cigarettes and 13 messages later, still no word from Sammy. "Samantha Marie. You better have a really good excuse for pulling this kind of shit damn it. You couldn't have done this while I was there? You had to wait till I moved hundreds of miles away?" V hung up the phone. She wasn't sure why she kept leaving messages. The phone rang startling her even more. It was Leo. "Please tell me she was home." V almost pleaded. "Nope. Sorry but the place looked intact." An awkward silence lingered in the line. V didn't have a clue what else to say, all her fears roared in her mind once again sending shivers down her back. "Oh my god Leo I'm so scared, this is not like her at all." V said and she could feel moisture building up on her eyes. "I'm sure she is ok Vicky, I'm going to drive around for a little bit and see if I have any luck. I promise to call you every hour with an update." Leo tried to calm her down but to no avail he could hear the fear in her voice. "Thanks. "Sam walked down the busy street and waited patiently for her turn to cross the interception. She could see a green Starbucks sign mechanically engineered to rotate and light up every few seconds. Coffee was a must and she was sure they would let her use the power outlets to charge her phone. Victoria had walked approximately three miles back and forth in her little living room. Pacing had always been a problem for her but it helped with the nerves. She tried to push away all sorts of negative thoughts that threatened to tamper with her sanity but she was losing the battle. Out of the two of them Sam had always been the responsible one from paying rent a day earlier to choosing a designated driver she was very careful and smart about her decisions. What could have possibly have happened to make her act this way. The phone rang once again and V's knees gave up when she saw Sam's picture pop up. "Where the hell are you? I've been sick with worry!" V almost barked into the receiver. "Hmm I was kind of expecting a different reaction, maybe a Hello my friend, how are you?" "I have no patience for your sarcasm right now Sam." Vicky's tone had softened a few decibels. "I'm at a Starbucks by central park. You think you could tell me how to get to your place from here?" "WHAT? Here?" Victoria couldn't believe her ears. "Yes." Sam replied and her heart began to beat like a drum. "Why? How come you didn't call me? What's going on?" "I needed to see you. We can talk when I get there." Sam managed to say. Before she could finish opening the front door, Sammy had her arms wrapped around V. "You have no idea how worried I was Samantha." She said with tears rolling down her cheeks. Victoria had never felt so secure or relieved. For the first time she realized how perfectly she fit into Sammy's arms, how good the felt wrapped around her. She took in a long, slow, deep breath and let the scent of her best friends skin completely fill her lungs. Sammy's heart was beating so fast that V could feel it against her chest. "I missed you Vicky." Sammy didn't want to let her go. "What is going on? What is so important that you couldn't just tell me over the phone?" "It's been a long and crazy 24 hours and I have a killer headache. Can I shower and borrow some clothes?"Victoria gave Sammy a quick tour of her apartment and handed her some clean towels. "The water takes a few minutes to warm up. I'll leave some clothes for you on my bed. Yell if you need anything. And Sam... whatever the reason is, I'm glad you're here" She turned around and walked towards her room. The water felt amazing on against her skin. She stood under the hot water, letting it run down every inch of her body. Unable to think of anything else she started wondering exactly how she was going to be able to put 12 years of feelings and love into words that Vicky might be able to understand. V laid out a tank top and some jeans on the bed. She didn't know if Sam had eaten anything, but she was going to make her something just in case. She walked by the bathroom and caught a glimpse of Sam's silhouette and stopped. Her eyes landed on the outline of her breasts and nipples. They were perfect. In their years of friendship she had never taken the time to admire her. Sam was a beautiful woman. Her body was made up of curves that other women would kill for. She became so lost in watching her that she hadn't noticed that Sam had turned off the water, opened the shower door and stepped out. "Vicky? You okay?" She stood completely naked. "Um, yea, I'm good. Just wanted to grab your clothes to wash for you. Yeah, just... your clothes." Her face turned red. She grabbed her clothes and quickly walked out of the bathroom. Sam got dressed and brushed her hair. She took a minute to check out Victoria's room and smiled at the picture of them next to her bed. Vicky was in the kitchen making a grilled cheese. She was so embarrassed and hoped that Sam hadn't noticed her admiring her. "Is that my favorite that I smell?" Knowing very well that it was. "Of course, I hope you're hungry." She tried not to let Sam notice how red she still was because she couldn't get that naked imagine of her out of her head. "For grilled cheese? Always." Vicky's grilled cheese were the best she though. "Good. While I cook, you can sit and tell me all about your crazy adventure just to see me"Sam pulled a chair from the table and sat down glad that all she could see was Vicky's back. At this point her decision to come to the big apple was beginning to weight on her. What the hell was she supposed to do now?"You know how we have been friends for like forever right?" Sam swallowed hard. "Yea, and?" Vicky flipped the grilled cheese over. "I love you more than a friend." Sam held her breath. "I know silly, we are like sisters." Vicky smiled and served the sandwich on a plate. "Vicky . . . thanks for the sandwich." Sam gave up for a little bit. She needed to come up with a better strategy because this one wasn't working out. "Want something to drink? I have water, coke and lemonade." Vicky stood in front of the fridge waiting for Sam to make up her mind. "I'll have some water. Thank you." Sam took a big bite out of her grilled cheese and burned her tongue. "Are you ok honey?" Vicky brought the water with a concerned look on her face. "I'll survive." Sam replied and drank some. "I'm so happy to have you here, I was going nuts." "Have you applied to any places yet?" "Yea but no one has called." Vicky knew that it was going to be hard to succeed in New York but she was willing to give it all she had. "They will you just have to be patient and hold tight." Sam swallowed the last piece of bread and all of a sudden all the nerves were back as soon as she looked into Vicky's eyes. "Want to watch a movie?" Vicky felt strange, Sam was acting weird, she almost seemed uncomfortable. "Sure. Do you have cable?" "Not yet, I have Netflix on my laptop." Vicky replied already walking towards her room. "Can we see `let me in'? I heard it was amazing." "We can see anything you want." Vicky replied surprising Sam with a hug that made her heart melt. They crawled into Vicky's bed and set the laptop where they could both see it. "Can I cuddle with you, I'm freezing." Vicky asked Sam giving her a puppy face. "Don't you always? After 12 years you still ask." She let her lay her head on her shoulder as she wrapped her arms around her. Sam's heart felt like it was going to explode. Vicky's hair felt so soft against her skin, and it smelled of vanilla and lavender. A little bit into the movie, Vicky looked up at Sam. "Are you paying attention?" She had caught Sam staring at her. "Yeah, totally." Realizing she had yet to watch a single minute of the movie. "Samantha Marie..." Vicky started tickling her in her most ticklish spot. The sound of Sam's uncontrollable laughter filled the room. Before either of them knew it, an all out tickle fight broke out. Vicky had somehow managed to pin Sam underneath her and was making her squirm and wiggle with every tickle and poke. "OK OK! YOU WIN!" Sam could hardly breathe anymore. "I always do. What's my prize?" Vicky said with a victorious grin. "Me traveling hundreds of miles just isn't enough huh?" "Hey, that's doesn't count!" Vicky poked her side as a warning. Sam could play this game all night. She had no objections to being pinned down between Vicky's legs. Although the thought of where this could lead started to get her excited. Silence took over as they both stared at each other. Vicky leaned down towards Sam. She wasn't sure why but all of a sudden she knew exactly what she wanted her prize to be. "I know what I want" "Oh really? And what is it that you want Victoria?" Sam's entire body was tingling from head to toe. Vicky slowly placed her lips on Sam's. She could feel her body shake beneath her. She wasn't sure why but kissing her felt right. Her kiss was returned tenderly at first but within a few seconds it became deeper and passionate. Sam found the back of Vicky's head and pulled her even closer thrusting her tongue in her mouth forgetting everything that was tormenting her mind for as long as she could. Vicky moaned in response and welcomed the intrusion. Her hands found the bottom of the tank top and pulled upwards and thru Sam's head exposing her perfectly shaped breasts. "Wait . . . Vicky what are we doing?" It was hard for Sam to breathe and actually word out what she wanted to say. Vicky got up and ran her fingers thru her now messy hair. She paced for a minute and walked out of the room. What had just happened hadn't settled in her brain yet. She wasn't entirely sure why she kissed her best friend but now a bigger question mark clouded her judgment; Sam had returned the kiss. Sam regretted asking that stupid question and breaking the spell; she put the tank top back on and stepped out of bed. The last thing she wanted was for Vicky to feel ashamed or rejected, if anything she was glad that now all was left to do was talk about it. "Hey." Sam found Vicky sitting on the couch of her small living room with a thoughtful expression. "Sam I don't know why I kissed you, I'm sorry; the last thing I want to do is mess up our friendship." Her expression changed to worry now. "Please don't apologize Vicky. Let's just sleep on it and we can talk about this tomorrow with a cool head." Sam was nervous and scared and she definitely wanted to clear things out because at the end of the day the most important thing at stake was their friendship and she refused to let it turn awkward. "Ok I guess, if that's what you want." Vicky replied. "Well what do you want?" Sam inquired. "Nothing Sam." "I know you better than that, tell me." "We'll talk tomorrow. Let's go to bed it's been a long day for the both of us." Vicky started walking towards the room but Sam didn't follow. "Can I borrow some sheets or something?" "Aren't you sleeping with me?" Vicky sounded a bit hurt. "I figured it would be a better idea if I slept in the couch." "Why?" "Because of what just happened Vicky. Because all I'm going to want to do is kiss you again." Vicky grabbed Sam by the arm and led her into her bedroom. "We have been having sleepovers in the same bed for 12 years Sam. One kiss and you want to start sleeping on the couch? Don't be silly." "I just... I don't want this to be awkward. I don't want you to feel uncomfortable." She didn't know what else to say. "YOU stopped it, YOU want to sleep on the couch, and you're worried about ME being uncomfortable?" She followed with a sarcastic laugh. Sam decided to give up, it was a losing battle. She crawled under the sheets and watched as Vicky turned off the lights. She felt her lay down next to her. They laid in the tense silence, neither of them wanting to make a noise or move. Sam figured she might as well spill it now, in the dark, when she didn't have to look at Vicky's face. "Vicky, I need to tell you something, but I need you to promise that you won't say anything till I'm done." "Ok. I promise" She wondered where this was going. "Since the first day I met you, you became my world. You were my reason for waking up in the morning, the thoughts that kept me going through the day, and the sweet dream that I would look forward to every night. Every relationship I've had throughout the years has failed, you know that. I've found every excuse in the book to find reasons not to make each one of them work, but the truth is that they didn't work because those girls came nowhere near close to being you. None of them compared to you. Since you moved to New York, I haven't been able to think of anyone but you. It kills me not seeing your beautiful green eyes, hugging you, and seeing that beautiful smile that leaves me breathless every time. Not only do I love you, but above anything else you're my best friend, my strength, the keeper of my deepest darkest secrets, my shoulder to cry on, the person I turn to when everyone else turns their back on me. Sure I enjoy every minute I get on the phone with you, but it's not the same as having you by my side. This is my biggest secret and keeping it from you, the one person that knows everything, has been torture. I didn't come here expecting anything from you. I don't expect you to tell me you feel the same, I don't expect you to understand. I don't even expect you to say anything back, or ever speak of it again. I just needed to let you know that you are my world and without you, my best friend and soul mate, I am nothing. "Vicky laid in silence, tears quietly rolling down the sides of her face. She was speechless. She let a few moments pass so that her brain could finish processing all the words that flowed out of Sam's mouth. She was over whelmed with thoughts and emotions. "I don't know what to say Samantha." She rolled over and faced her. In the darkness Sam caught a glimpse of tears glistening on Vicky's cheeks. She wrapped her arms around her. "Why are you crying sweetie? I'm so sorry. Please don't cry." Regret instantly took over. She felt a knot in her throat. Sam let go so that she could wipe away the tears but Vicky pulled her closer and tighter. "Can we lay here for a bit? Just like this?" Unsure why, but she didn't want to let go. "As long as you want." She gave her a small kiss on her forehead. Sam was dying inside. She made Vicky cry, which was the last thing she ever wanted to do. Although she told her she wasn't expecting anything back, deep down inside she wanted to know how she truly felt. Vicky opened her eyes and noticed the sun peaking in through the curtains. She realized she was still in Sam's arms, neither of them had moved an inch the whole night. She moved her head and looked at Sam, she was still sleeping. Vicky caught herself smiling. Could her random kiss last night have meant something? Maybe this whole time she was hiding these feelings for Sam somewhere in the bottom of her heart. Could she have loved her this whole time, the way that Sam loved her?The door bell broke her concentration and woke Sam up. She walked towards the entrance and peeked through the little hole. It was a delivery man. "Good morning ma'am." He said politely. "Good morning." Vicky replied smiling. She wasn't expecting anything and at first thought it was a mistake but the package clearly had her name and address written on a label. "If you could please sign this for me." The young man handed her one of those little machines with a tiny pen hanging from a string. Vicky signed on the screen and closed the door after thanking him for the services. "What time is it?" A sleepy Sam asked as soon as she turned around. "Almost 9. Hungry?" Vicky threw the box on the sofa, she would open it later. "Always." Sam replied rubbing her eyes. "Coffee and toast?" "That sounds great. "Vicky got busy and had breakfast ready in a few minutes. She prepared the table and sat down across from her friend. "I have to go back probably today." Sam managed to say. "But you just got here." Vicky protested setting her warm mug back on the glass surface. "I know but I didn't quite plan this trip so they must be wondering where the hell I've been. "Vicky knew that Sam had a strong valid point but she couldn't help but to feel sad. "Can't you at least stay one more day? Talk to them please." Vicky gave it a shot. "I'll call work." Sam said and finished her breakfast. She picked up and did the dishes. "Do you want to walk around downtown?" Vicky felt nervous, a feeling that was unfamiliar around Sam. "Sure that would be fun." Sam had never been to New York and the thought of skyscrapers and crazy traffic didn't appeal too much but she was here already might as well give it a shot. A few hours later the girls were on the subway headed for downtown. "I never expected it to be so packed." Sam was amazed at the hundreds of people coming in and out of any given subway station. It was just like in the movies. "Did you know that you could get a ticket from spitting in the street?" Vicky asked already knowing the answer. "Are you serious?" Sam widened her eyes. "Yes and also if you cross the street without waiting for your turn or out of the stripes." "That kind of makes sense though, imagine this amount of people just doing whatever they wanted and running all over the place. It would be chaotic." "Exactly." Vicky smiled. The subway came to a stop and it was time for them to get off. They walked out of the station and into the busy street. Vicky searched for Sam's hand, she knew that she wasn't used to the Newyorkers's fast pace and she would easily fall behind and get lost. Sam was in awe, there were taxis all over the place. Everyone seemed to be running late for something. This place was definitely not for her now she appreciated the quietness of her town and she swore to never ever complain about rush hour again. "This is crazy. Why would you want to live here Vicky?" Sam asked after being smacked a couple of times by suitcases that business men were carrying. "Reality is a little different than what I had pictured." Vicky replied and the thought of going back home crossed her mind once again. "How do people deal with all that chaos every day?" Sam took a long, deep breath as she threw herself down on the couch. Sure the city had some amazing and beautiful things about it but she still couldn't bring herself to understanding as to why Vicky loved New York so much. "I supposed you get used to it." Vicky took off her shoes and grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge. "I guess. I have to call work. Let them know I'm alive, find out if I still have a job." Sam said taking her cell phone out of her pocket. "I'm going to jump in the shower while you do that, then we'll figure out dinner. I'm starving" Vicky grabbed some pajama pants and a tank top from her room then headed to the shower. As soon as the water hit her skin she relaxed. She started thinking about Sam and how much fun she had showing her around New York. The previous night's confession from her best friend suddenly popped into her thoughts. They still hadn't talked about anything; both had tried to ignore the tension in the air between them. Vicky could tell that things felt different. There were a million different emotions that were running around in her head and she honestly still hadn't had the chance to sort them out. All she knew is that she had to figure it out before Sam left; she couldn't just let her go back home like that, with nothing answered. Her mind wandered to the image of Sam's perfectly naked body standing in front of her the day before. Every detail of her was as sharp as if she was standing in front of her again. Her body had been covered in water droplets that glistened off of her skin. Vicky couldn't help but think about Sam's perfect hard nipples. She thought about the water drops rolling off of them down, onto her smooth stomach then slowly making their way down in between her legs. Her hands started traveling across her own body as her thoughts about Sam continued. She felt her own nipples starting to get excited and hard as she ran her fingers across them. The thought of the kiss they had shared brought on a familiar feeling between her legs. Before she knew it she was lost in her thoughts and Vicky found her fingers gently rubbing against her clit. She imagined Sam's body in between her legs, pressed against her hard as they grinded against each other. "What am I doing?" Vicky quickly returned back to reality. Although she had fantasized many times while masturbating, never once had it been about Sam. It freaked her out a bit knowing that not only was it wrong because she was her best friend, but she was sitting just a few feet away on her couch. Vicky quickly tried to erase all the thoughts that had just taken control of her and finished up her shower. She got dressed, brushed her hair, and took a deep breath as she walked out into the living room. Sam had been sitting on the couch right where Vicky had left her. "Took you long enough! What the hell where you doing in there? I thought I was going to have to save you." Sam looked up from her phone. She loved how comfy, yet beautiful Vicky looked. Even from across the room she could smell the scent of her freshly washed skin. It gave her goose bumps from head to toe. "Wouldn't you like to know?" Vicky had a flirty look on her face. Sam was taking up the whole couch so she walked over and spread herself out on the floor in front of the couch. Sam was a little surprised at her comment. "Well the good news is that Leo covered my ass at work. So you have me for 2 more days, which also means I have 2 days to figure out what you do in the shower" Sam didn't want to look at her best friend. They were flirting, which was a first in their friendship. Sam could feel that she was blushing 10 different shades of red. "Awesome! I'm really glad to spend a couple of more days with you. As for what I do in the shower... That's between me and the bubbles honey." Vicky got up and headed towards the kitchen. They were flirting and she was actually enjoying it. "Now Samantha, what are we doing for dinner?" She opened up the fridge. Sam got up from the couch and followed. Thoughts of Vicky and bubbles filled lingered in the back of her head. "Seeing as your fridge has more cobwebs then a haunted house, how about we order some Chinese food and watch some movies?" "HEY! Don't make fun of my empty fridge!" Vicky giggled and playfully pushed Sam against the counter. By the time the food arrived Sam had taken a shower and they were browsing thru the on demand endless movie list. They couldn't agree on what genre they wanted to watch, horror or romance. Neither one of them was a big fan of action. "Smells delicious." Sam said sniffing the aroma. "That's one of the perks of living in the big city my friend, everything is always open." Vicky said proudly. "Yea yea, that's still not strong enough of a reason for me to even considering visiting here ever again." Sam replied sternly. "Are you trying to say that you hate it so much that you wouldn't even come back to visit me if I chose to stay?" Vicky sounded a bit hurt. "Well I'm here for that reason, to ensure that you change your mind about staying here." "But it's always been my dream Sam." "It isn't even working out for you Vicky, I'm sorry but as your friend I have to be honest with you." "I know I still haven't found a job and that the market is not doing too great right now but I'm hoping that they'll call me soon and . . ." "Vicky you can't keep living off your savings, I don't even want to know how much you pay of rent here. I'm sorry but I don't think the hope of a phone call can pay your bills." Sam felt like she was shattering her best friend's dream but reality needed to be faced at some point and it was better sooner than later. "Victoria I've saved my whole life to come here and make it happen and that's exactly what I'm going to do. You can count on that." Sam served the food in two plates and filled a couple of glasses with soda. She set the table in silence and ate quickly almost as if she was late for something. After dinner Sam attempted to pick up the table but Vicky stopped her. "I got it. Go choose a movie." Vicky didn't look at her. Sam did as told. Vicky was still doing the dishes. Sam approached her and hugged her friend from behind. "I'm sorry V. I just miss you so much and in a way I told myself that if I came and you were ok, if you had a job and you were happy I would be happy for you and move on and forget about my feelings but I just, I don't know, that's not what I found when I got here." Sam paused and kissed Vicky's shoulder taking in a full breath of her shampoo and damp hair. "I want you to come home with me. I want you to come with me and be my girlfriend. I love you Victoria." Vicky turned around and looked at Sam in the eye. "The only reason why you decided to tell me how you felt was because I was far away and you were used to me being there. What makes me think that things will be different now that I know how you feel?" "Are you saying that you don't feel the same way?" Sam took a step back to give them both some room. "What I'm saying is that god knows how long you have felt this way towards me but only now when I wasn't there for you to run to with your latest heartbreak is that you realize how much you love me." Vicky dried her hands and walked to the couch fighting back her tears. The movie was on for the allotted time and Sam couldn't remember for the life of her what the heck it was about. Vicky's words were playing in her head like a broken record, but the scariest part was the doubt deep inside of her that what she had said was to some degree truthful.
