     Part Six

       Gena thought it over for a moment and she knew that she had just
painted herself into a corner. She looked at Lara and she made her
decision. "Oh fuck it!" Gena said exhaling loudly. ""Come on." She told
Lara as she took her by the hand, leading her out of the room, and turning
off the light as they left the room.

       Gena led Lara into her dark bedroom, going to the bedside light and
turning it on.  She turned to face Lara who had a hopeful smile on her
face. Gena still had a hold of Lara's right hand and she reached down
taking the left in her other hand.

       "Lara, I know that we have started something and I'm not sure where
we'll go with it. However this sleeping arrangement is temporary, just
until we can get your bedroom fixed up, then you go back there to sleep. I
think we need to go very slowly and take our time. It has been a long time
since I have been in a relationship and with everything that you have been
through; I think we both need time to decide what we want. Do you
understand what I'm telling you?" Gena asked.

       "Yes I know what you're saying," Lara said but not saying whether
she agreed with it or not.

       "Good, I need to go pee and we can get to sleep." Gena said letting
go of Lara's hands.

       When Gena got to the door, she looked back to see Lara pulling back
the covers and fluffing up the pillows for them. She went on into the
bathroom, sitting on the toilet and peeing, wondering if she had made the
right decision and figuring that it probably wasn't but she couldn't let
Lara sleep in such a lonely bedroom. Once she had peed and wiped herself
clean, she washed her hands and then brushed her teeth, something she
didn't always do at night even though she knew that she should.

       As Gena entered her bedroom, she saw that Lara was already in bed,
on the right side of the bed which was where Gena always slept, and she had
her head on her pillow.  Gena knew that she should set things straight
right then and there; however she kept her mouth shut as she went around
the bed, slipping into the left side of the bed. Lara turned off the light
then as Gena's eyes adjusted to the dim light coming from the security
light in the back yard that was shining through the window; she saw that
Lara was on her left side looking at her.

       "Do I get my goodnight kiss now?" Lara asked in a very soft and sexy
voice.

       "I guess," Gena said as she couldn't help but to smile. Gena turned
to her right side and she leaned in giving Lara a light kiss, making it
brief not wanting to start something that she would be unable to stop.

       Gena figured that Lara would protest such a short and unfulfilling
kiss but to her surprise Lara didn't. Instead, as Gena turned onto her back
and laying her head on her pillow, Lara curled up against Gena's right
side, placing her head on Gena's shoulder.  Again Gena knew that she should
stop this right then and make Lara scoot over to her side of the queen size
mattress. However it felt too nice to have Lara so close to her so she

left arm pulling her in a little closer. She heard Lara let out a contented
sigh and Gena just knew that she had crossed over the line and there was no
crossing back. Lara was never going to want to go back to the spare bedroom
and she also knew that she would never ask her to return there. Her bed had
just become their bed.

       Gena lay there just enjoying the feel of Lara's body against her,
feeling the heat coming from that body. Gena ran her fingers of her left
hand tenderly caress Lara's arm. Lara stirred just a little then settled
back down. Gena could see Lara's chest rise and fall in a steady rhythm
indicating that she was asleep. Gena turned her head toward Lara's head
feeling her hair tickle her nose and smelling the fresh scent of the
shampoo that Lara had used. Gena gave a kiss to Lara's head tasting Lara's
hair then she left her head there as she smelled Lara's hair, feeling it
tickle her nose, and she fell asleep.

       Gena felt movement on the bed; she slowly opened her eyes seeing
Lara go out the bedroom door. Gena, still more asleep then awake, turned
over onto Lara's side of the bed placing her head on Lara's pillow curling
it to her body as she fell back asleep.  A few minutes later, Gena heard
her alarm go off. Gena reached over turning off the alarm clock as she sat
up in the bed. Gena sat there for a moment clearing her head of sleep, as
she did so; she realized that she was feeling so happy. It confused her for
a moment but then she remembered that she wasn't alone in her bed last
night, she had shared it with Lara. That made her smile even bigger as she
got up heading to the bathroom to relieve the pressure in her bladder and
get her day started.

       "Morning Sunshine," Gena said as she entered the kitchen seeing Lara
at the stove and also seeing that there was a hot cup of coffee sitting at
the table.

       "Morning, Did you sleep well?" Lara asked as she turned toward Gena
flashing her a big smile.

       "Yea, I slept real well. How about yourself?" Gena asked.

       "Oh it was the best night's sleep I've ever had." Lara said flashing
another big smile before going back to the eggs and bacon that she was
cooking.

       "That's good, so you know what you're going to say to the DEA this
morning?"  Gena asked.

       "Yea, I think I do." Lara said. "I just hope that they agree to what
I am asking."

       "I think they will, but if you need me to talk to them, you can tell
them to call me." Gena told her.

       Lara told her that she would and then they talked more about what
Lara was going to say and how she wanted to present her arguments to
them. That conversation went on while Gena got ready to work as Lara
followed her to the bedroom, to the bathroom, and finally to the front
door.

       "Now you try not to get into too much trouble while I'm at work."
Gena told her as she brushed the hair from the right side of Lara's face.

       "I'll try not to but I know it'll be hard." Lara replied with a
laugh.

       "Now if you need anything, you give me a call." Gena warned her
feeling bad about leaving Lara alone in the house.

       "I will but I can take care of myself." Lara told her.

       "I know you can, you've been doing it all your life." Gena said.

       "But now I got someone to help care for me." Lara said then she came
up to Gena giving her a kiss.

       "Now get to work, so I can start on those cabinet doors." Lara told
her as she turned around, opening the door for Gena.

       "Yes ma'am," Gena said with a laugh, and then she gave Lara a kiss
before going out the door.

       Gena got to work and she immediately got into the flow, catching up
with what had happened over the weekend which turned out to be pretty
quiet. Normally Gena would have called in a couple of times on the weekend
and had been known to stop by but this past weekend, she had done neither,
with Lara taking her mind completely off of work. Even now as she worked
through the morning, her mind would go back to Lara wondering what she was
doing at home. Around noon, she went out in one of the patrol cars to
relieve one of the deputies so that he could go to court. While she was
driving, she felt her phone buzz so she found a place to pull off to see
what it said as she knew whom it was from.

       "Talked 2 DEA they said they would pass it up the line, know in a
day or 2" Gena read.

       Gena started to call Lara back but then she figured that would end
up being a long call so she just texted back, "Sounds good, tell me about
it tonight."

       "K" she got texted back from Lara. Gena had to grin as Lara had
obviously learned quickly some of the shortcuts to texting, which was
something she too was going to have to learn. The rest of the afternoon
went pretty quickly and for the first time that she could remember, Gena
got out of there at five sharp as she had someone to go home for the first
time in a long time.

       Gena opened the front door to the smell of something good coming
from the kitchen. She called out, "Lara I'm home."

       There was silence for a moment making Gena worry but then she heard,
"I'm coming..." coming from the back of the house.

       Gena came on into the living room and was heading toward her bedroom
when Lara came from around the corner, wearing a pair of short shorts and a
tee shirt. Gena stopped in place as she looked at Lara whose face was
freshly washed with just a tad of blush that Gena had never seen Lara wear,
then she also noticed that Lara had applied just a bit of eyeliner making
her pretty eyes even prettier. Lara's hair had also been brushed to the
point that it shined, almost as much as Lara's face did with the smile that
she was sporting. The first thought that went through her head was that she
was a newlywed coming home to her new wife who wanted to please her. Gena
has to smile at Lara who gave her a big grin in return.

       "You look beautiful..." Was what came from Gena's lips and this
time, she didn't feel like it was wrong to encourage Lara as she liked that
Lara wanted to please her.

       "Thank you," Lara said shyly as she stood there for a second then
she rushed up to Gena giving her a kiss.

       After the briefest of kisses Lara said "Come on, let me show you
what I've done today." Lara took Gena's hand practically dragging Gena into
and through the kitchen and out to the carport.

       Gena saw all the cabinet doors lying on papers scattered around the
carport, they all had been worked on, some looking pretty bad and some
okay. However Lara led her to the back corner where two cabinet doors were
propped up and they looked great.  "It took me all day but I finally
figured out how to get the doors stained and varnished.  Do you like them?"
Lara asked then she began to bite her lower lip.

       "They look great; you did a wonderful job sweetheart." Gena told her
as she gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

       "You think so?" Lara asked for assurance.

       "Yes I do, you did better than I could have ever done." Gena told
her giving her a hug and another kiss this one she let linger for a moment
but not too long since they were out on the carport.

       "Thank you," Lara said with a big smile. "Now you go get out of that
uniform as I finish our dinner.

       Gena laughed, "Yes um."

       "So how did things go with the DEA?" Gena asked as they entered the
house.

       "I'll tell you while we eat." Lara instructed her.

       "Okay, be back in a few minutes." Gena told her heading back toward
her bedroom. She took off her uniform and put her equipment away. She got
out a gown and a clean pair of panties taking them to the bathroom. She
peed before washing her face and brushing out her hair. She figured that if
Lara could fix herself up then so should she. Once she felt refreshed, she
came back into the kitchen to see a fresh cup of coffee waiting for her and

       "Tell me what you told them and what they said, I'm dying to know."
Gena said before she took her first sip of her coffee.

       "Well I called and talked to Agent Stone first and told him that I
was going to live with you so I didn't need their apartment and I also
asked about being able to keep the money that I paid myself for doing all
the bookkeeping for all the companies that my father owned. I told him that
it was just my salary and wasn't drug money, I took it from their actual
profit and not any of the money I put in there for my father." Lara said
putting the hot dish on the table.

       "Lara, you washed drug money through these companies so it is all
drug money, thus they can take it all." Gena said and then she added, "And
just how did you pay yourself, I didn't know anything about this."

       Lara smiled, "Every month I would take a hundred dollars from each
company and put it into a separate account that I had set up for myself. My
father never caught on to what I was doing. I did it more for meanness than
anything else. I never figured that I would ever live to see it. I told
them about it last week when we were going over the last of the accounts
that I had set up. They didn't seem too interested in it since it didn't
contain millions of dollars like all of the other accounts."

       "You know they won't let you keep it, it all goes to the government
since it was a part of a criminal enterprise." Gena told her hoping to get
Lara to understand that she would never get to keep it.

       "I know but it was worth a try. I am giving them everything that
they want and they are getting millions of dollars from what my father
did." Lara told her.

       "And they are letting you stay out of jail where you could have been
spending twenty or more years." Gena told her.

       Lara smiled, "I know and I am grateful, I just figured that I would
try. They're getting out of paying for an apartment and I offered to not
take any of the money that they were going to give me to live on for the
first year. I am giving some things back too."

       "True but all the same, don't get your hopes up that will be able to
keep any of that money." Gena told her.

       "Oh I don't but it was worth a try." Lara told her.

       "Yea it was, just how much is in the account?" Gena asked just
curious.

       "I'm not sure exactly, I never got around to checking up on it. I
don't think it is a lot, I didn't think about doing it until these past
couple of years so there can't be much there." Lara told her.

       "Oh okay, well as long as they accept you living here and you don't
go to jail, that is all that matters." Gena told her.

       "Yea, I don't want to go to jail, I want to stay here with you."
Lara said with a big grin.

       "So what about your ID?" Gena asked as she got up to help Lara get
the plates down and Lara something to drink.

       "It'll be here on Wednesday. They're giving me a driver's license
and some papers that said I graduated from some high school out west. They
are setting me up with a whole history."  Lara told her.

       "Good, you'll need that but I don't know about the driver's
licenses, I'm not sure that they should give you one of those without a
driver's test and a road test." Gena told her trying not to grin.

       "Why not?" Lara asked in surprise.

       "Well I did catch you doing over a hundred miles an hour, I'm not
sure that I should trust you driving me around, you're a speed demon." Gena
said then she laughed.

       Lara then laughed but then her face turned serious as she said, "But
I meant for you to catch me," then she seemed to pause as if her mind was
going back to that day and a sad expression come over her face however it
was only there for a moment before it was gone replaced by a smile and a
wink.

       Gena thought that through for a moment before she decided to let it
go but she was going to bring it up later. "All the same, I do want to make
sure you know all the rules, for your own safety and for others.  Everyone
else has to and so should you."  Gena told her as the cop within her came
out.

       Lara seemed to think this over for a moment then she smiled as she
said, "Okay but once I pass the test and your driving test then you have to
take me back to that Japanese restaurant."

       "That's a deal." Gena said holding out her hand to Lara who shook it
confidently as if she had already passed the test and was on her way to her
new favorite restaurant.

       Lara spent their dinner talking either about what was on the driving
test or what she was going to do to the cabinets before she put the doors
back up. She had already planned on sanding down the rest of the cabinets
and staining them to match the doors.  Gena got caught up with Lara's
excitement as she could just see her new kitchen as Lara described it.

       Later that evening as they were sitting on the couch watching TV,
Gena looked over at Lara and thought about the expression on Lara's face as
she told her about wanting to get caught by Gena that day.

       "What?" Lara asked her as she looked back at Gena.

       "Can I ask you something and you tell me the truth, the complete
truth?" Gena asked her turning the TV off and then turning to Lara.

       "Sure," Lara replied though she had some hesitation in her voice.

       "You said that you wanted to get caught that day that I pulled you
over but there's more to it than that isn't there?" Gena said more than
asked.

       Lara just sat there and slowly her eyes became moist though no tears
fell, after some hesitation, she finally said," Maybe...".

       Gena reached over taking Lara's hands into her hands giving them a
squeeze before saying, "Maybe means yes doesn't it?"

       Again Lara hesitated as she looked into Gena's eyes who stared back
into Lara's eyes not breaking contact until Lara did and that was when Lara
began to cry. Gena let go of Lara's hands and she reached out pulled Lara
to her. She hugged her tightly then she kissed the tears away. "You want to
tell me about it?"

       Lara sat there for a moment looking into Gena's eyes and then she
began to cry harder. Gena pulled her back to her holding her for a moment
before she maneuvered Lara around so that she was sitting on her lap, Lara
buried her face into Gena's shoulder crying harder for a few minutes as
Gena caressed her back with her right hand and her left hand she used to
caress the back of Lara's head.

       "I..." Lara spit out then she took a deep breath letting it out in a
sigh before starting over, "I wanted you to pull me over or I was going to
keep going as fast as I could until I wrecked."

       Gena heard that and it took a second before it registered in her
brain what Lara was really telling her. Gena pushed Lara away looking into
her eyes as Lara cried, "Honey, you'd have been killed, you were going over
a hundred miles an hour when you went by me."

       "I know, I wanted to die," Lara said crying harder then she hugged
Gena tighter as she buried her face into Gena's shoulder wetting it with
her tears.

       "Why did you want to die?" Gena asked pretty much knowing the answer
but wanting Lara to say it.

       There was only silence coming from Lara except for the sobs that
would come out every moment or two. "Why did you want to die?" Gena
repeated.

       Lara was silent for a bit as she cried but soon the tears seem to
end as Gena waited her out, "At first when I started to do the books I
really didn't know why I was hiding all of my father's money, I was too
young and all I cared about was that I got to learn something new and I got
to play on the computer. But the more I learned about how to "cook the
books" as they say, the more I learned as to why I was cooking the
books. When they started making me do the drug runs I had my suspicions
confirmed. I learned all about drugs and what they were doing to people,
especially meth and on some runs that was all that I picked up and brought
back, a car load of meth that would destroy so many lives. And I knew that
one day that my father would kill me like he did my mother. It was just a
matter of time. So I got to the point where I couldn't live with what I was
doing, I was either going to get caught or die trying to get caught.
Either way it would be over, I would either die in prison at the hands of
some killer that my father would hire inside the prison or by my own hands,
either way it would be over.  But I wouldn't be taken out into the
mountains to be killed and buried where no one would ever know or care."

       Gena pushed her back and looking directly into her eyes for a long
moment making sure that Lara was looking at her and then she told her,
"Well you don't have a reason to die now, your father is gone and you are
free from him."

       "Yep, I got you to care for me and for me to take care of, I don't
want to die now, and I want to stay right here for the rest of my life."
Lara said finally giving Gena a smile before lying back against her and
burying her head into Gena's shoulder and neck.

       "You know one day, you may not need me as much as you do now and
want to move on out on your own and I will understand that if you do." Gena
told her.

       Lara pulled back from Gena giving her a fierce look that almost
scared Gena, "I'll never leave you; I'm staying here forever."

       "Okay, you can stay for as long as you like, I was just saying..."
Gena was saying before Lara stopped her.

       "You want me to stay with you don't you?" Lara asked with real fear
in her eyes and voice.

       Gena gave Lara a smile as she pulled her back against her, "Honey, I
don't want you to ever to leave, I was just making sure you knew that you
could leave if you wanted. I don't want you to feel that you are trapped
her, forced to never leave."

       "I know that I have the freedom to leave but I don't want to and
never will."  Lara told her.

       "Good, just as long as you understand that," Gena told her.

       "I do and now can we talk about something else." Lara said as she
snuggled in close.

       "Sure what do you want to talk about?" Gena asked her.

       Lara pulled back up and she had this big grin on her face,
"Kissing." She said.

       Gena laughed and said, "You don't want to talk about kissing, you
just want to kiss."

       "True," Lara said as she leaned in giving Gena a light kiss.

       "Is that the best kiss that you can give me?" Gena asked her and she
knitted her forehead.

       "Oh I can do much better than that." Lara said as she wiggled her
butt on Gena's lap.

       After a moment of Lara just sitting there just looking at her, Gena
had to say, "Well you going to just sit there or kiss me?" Gena asked.

       "Yes," Lara said with a big grin on her face.

       "Oh I see you are trying to be funny now," Gena said, "And you know
what I do to funny people don't you?"

       "No what?" Lara asked.

       "I tickle them until they scream for mercy." Gena told her as she

       "No!" Lara squealed as she jerked backwards laughing. Lara fell off
