       On Friday, Jillian had gotten them an interview with the current
swimming coach, so they met at the swimming pool at four to do the
interview. "So you got your questions ready?" Ashley asked Jillian as they
met in front of the Aquatic Building.

       "Oh yea, I'm ready for this asshole." Jillian said to her. "I've
been so looking forward to this interview."

       "I think we should act like we're doing a fluff piece on him and ask
nothing that will indicate what we're after." Ashley said calmly and she
got the expected look from Jillian, that being that she was crazy and
didn't know what the hell that she was talking about.

       "Are you crazy? This is our first opportunity to get some answers,
and we need to go after this man." Jillian told her.

       "And he will tell everyone what we're after and the cat will be out
of the bag. No one will talk to us after that, and this man isn't the one
who fired Coach Wilder, he's just the one who replaced her.' Ashley told
her in a calming voice.

       "So you're saying if we stroke his ego then maybe the wheels will be
greased for us getting to talk to the Athletic Director?" Jillian asked and
Ashley saw that she was getting to her.

       "Maybe not greased, but they won't be shut in our face." Ashley told
her.

       "You know Dr. Laurence has been trying to tell me that since I've
been here, sometime honey goes further than a shotgun." Jillian said with a
laugh.

       "Dr Laurence is a smart man, maybe you should listen to him every
once in a while." Ashley said with a smile.

       "But it goes against my very nature, you know I like to go straight
for the throat," Jillian told her.

       "You know the best way home isn't always the direct one, but the one
that takes you places you've never been. You might be surprised what you
learn." Ashley told her.

       "Maybe you should do this interview," Jillian suggested.

       "Oh no, you're the journalist, not me. Just go with the flow and
don't press him unless he tells us something that we need to know. I know
you got it in you to do it. We can always come back later and put the
needle to him." Ashley said.

       "Just how did you get so smart?" Jillian asked as she gave Ashley a
big smile.

       "I learned it from you." Ashley told her.

       "How did I teach you anything like that?" Jillian asked.

       "You just did..." Ashley said as she thought about the teasing that
Jillian had been doing to her and teaching her to do without her knowing
it. She could feel her face blushing and Jillian was giving her a confused
look but then she smiled. Ashley then knew that Jillian had caught onto
what she was talking about.

       "Come on, let's not keep the man waiting," Ashley said as she began
to walk up the sidewalk toward the building making Jillian have to catch up
with her.

       "If I start to get too aggressive, just pinch me," Jillian said now
back to business.

       "My pleasure," Ashley said with a laugh.

       "Oh I bet it will be," Jillian said and she gave her a wink that
made Ashley blush again.

       So they went on into the aquatic building and headed to the coaches
offices.  They were met by the administrative assistant and they were told
to wait as the coach was running late. Ashley looked at Jillian and she
knew they were thinking the same thing, that being that they were being
made to wait to show just how busy the coach was. That was proved to be the
case when the coach came out of his office alone and he waved them inside
about a half hour later.

       "So how did I do?" Jillian asked of her after they had exited the
building two hours later.

       "You were perfect," Ashley said giving her a smile. "I think that
you played him perfectly. He was eating it up and playing to you while
ignoring me."

       Ashley said the pained expression on Jillian's face as if she wasn't
sure how to respond to that. So Ashley came to the rescue, "Don't feel bad,
I wanted him to ignore me and to pander to you. That's why I wanted you to
dress up and I just wore jeans and this old tee shirt. That way he wouldn't
pay me any mind or notice that I was putting everything thing he said into
my laptop."

       "Oh I see," Jillian said more than a bit relieved. "You knew just
what we needed to do didn't you."

       "Well I had an idea from everything you had found out about him."
Ashley told her.

       "So what is your impression of him?" Jillian asked.

       "I thought he's a pompous ass who doesn't have a clue as to how to
be a real coach. He has no idea as to what he's doing. And he pissed me the
fuck off by saying his losing record was because the swimmers were
unmotivated and didn't want to be winners. It is his job to motivate his
swimmers and to get better swimmers in here, but the better ones will never
come here as long as he is here." Ashley told her with anger in her voice,
anger that she had managed to keep under wraps while Jillian was
interviewing him, but she was free to let it out now.

       "So I take it that you didn't like him?" Jillian asked her.

       Ashley stopped in mid step giving Jillian a look that was asking if
Jillian had just heard anything that she had said. That was when Jillian
broke out laughing at her and Ashley had to smile too releasing the anger
that she was feeling. "Got you!" Jillian said as she laughed.

       "You ass!" Ashley said slapping Jillian's shoulder but she was now
laughing too.  Then she turned serious as she said, "The next interview you
do with him, chop his balls off."

       "Oh I plan on it." Jillian said as the laughter stopped.

       "Good, even if we don't use the interview, I would love to see him
squirm." Ashley told her.

       "So is there anything in your notes that helps us?" Jillian asked as
they began to walk again.

       "There was only one thing stood out to me without going over my
notes again," Ashley told her.

       "What was that?" Jillian asked.

       "When he mentioned that he and the Athletic Director agreed on the
type of girls that they wouldn't recruit and bring to the university."
Ashley told her.

       "And what type of girls do you think that he was referring to?"
Jillian asked.

       "A girl that has a girlfriend and not a boyfriend," Ashley told her.

       "Yea that is what I was thinking too, I so wanted to jump him on
that one but I didn't," Jillian told her.

       "Well I probably wouldn't have stopped you," Ashley told her with a
little laugh.

       "I just thought of you there and I kept my cool and tried to press
him about that without letting him know what I was doing." Jillian told
her.

       "So where we going anyway?" Ashley asked.

       "Oh hell, I don't know, I'm just walking." Jillian said with a laugh
as she stopped.

       "Okay so where we going?" Ashley asked.

       "Mmm... my place to drop our stuff off and then I think we deserve a
nice dinner." Jillian said.

       "A nice cheap dinner," Ashley told her.

       Jillian laughed, "You know I know this cute brunette that once took
me to a restaurant on Southern Avenue that serves great club sandwiches and
shakes that are to die for."

       "Well maybe you should just take her to this restaurant," Ashley

started toward her apartment.

       "Well you did well; now let's break down the interview." Jillian
said.

       "Well it would have been better if he hadn't been so busy trying to

       "Well that might have worked if he had been even a marginally decent

       "That's very true," Jillian said this time turning her head toward

nuggets of information that he might have given us without him knowing it."

       "I hope he did but I doubt it," Ashley said knowing that Jillian's
mind was back on the business of their story.

       So they worked the next hour and half going over the interview time
and time again. They did find a couple of things that might help but the
main thing they got from him was the bit about the women that the athletic
director liked to bring in and that he agreed with. That being no gay women

on their homework that they had neglected having gone to the aquarium

       They both worked a couple of hours before deciding they needed a pee

for your class?" Jillian asked out of nowhere as Ashley saved her work.

       Ashley looked over at Jillian trying to decide what to say. She
wasn't sure that she wanted Jillian to read the story but yet a part of her
wanted very much for Jillian to read it. "Ahhh... yea I got my grade this
week."

       "So what did you get?" Jillian asked.

       Ashley blush a little as she said, "An A." Ashley waited for Jillian
to ask to read it but Jillian seemed to be content to finish closing out
her work and Ashley felt a bit disappointed that Jillian didn't want to
read it.

       When Jillian finally finished what she was doing, she looked over at
Ashley and said, "So you going to let me read it?"

       Ashley noticed that Jillian didn't say anything about the promise to
let her read it once she had turned it in. So now she either had to let her
read it or refuse to do so and she felt like Jillian would bring up her
promise. "Yea... sure..." Ashley finally said.  Then she found the story
and emailed it to Jillian just to give her another moment to prepare
herself.

       "Here it is," Jillian said as she opened her email and then opened
the attachment. She didn't mention anything about Ashley emailing it to her
instead of just giving her laptop to her which would have been easier and
faster.

       Ashley tried not to look at Jillian as she read the story but after
a couple of minutes of acting like she wasn't watching her, she gave up and

in any number of order. The story was only about thirty pages however
Jillian seemed to be reading each page carefully. It was when Jillian got

       "What? Is this it? There's got to be another part right?" Jillian

       "What about Joyce? Does she go after Aubree, please tell me that she
does."  Jillian told her.

       "That's up to you," Ashley told her.

       "You mean you're letting me decide what happens and you'll write the
next part based on my decision." Jillian said hopefully.

       "No I mean you as the reader decides what happens, it's up to you to
decide if Joyce goes after Aubree or stays home." Ashley said giving
Jillian a slight smile trying not to grin too broadly.

       "So you're not going to tell me what happens?" Jillian asked getting
a bit pissed.

       Ashley answered Jillian's question with a question of her own, "So
what do you think Joyce does?"

       "She goes after Aubree and doesn't give it another thought." Jillian
said much too quickly.

       "Are you sure?" Ashley asked.

       "Yes I'm sure, I know that is what she has to do, what she'll do."
Jillian told her again much too quickly. However there wasn't a lot of
confidence in her answer and she was almost asking Ashley if she was right.

       "Read the story again only this time pay more attention to what each
say and do," Ashley told her.

       "I know what they said and did, I just read the story and I have
excellent comprehension and memory." Jillian told her a bit pissed.

       "Just humor me," Ashley said as she put her index finger to
Jillian's chin and turning her head back toward Jillian's laptop.

       Jillian snapped at Ashley's finger with her teeth but not coming
close to biting her however Ashley jerked her finger back all the
same. Jillian then began to read again, this time going slower and her face
showed her concentration.

       It took her a bit longer to read the story again but when she got to
the end of the story she looked over at Ashley and said, "You're a fucking
bitch!"

       Ashley could only smile at Jillian's remark.

       "I just called you a fucking bitch and you're smiling from ear to
ear." Jillian said a bit confused.

       "That's because I got to you with my story. You're mad at me because
of my ability to get to you with my writing, with my words. That is the
only thing a real author can ask for." Ashley said smiling from ear to ear.

       "Okay, I'll admit that you got to me both the first time I read the
story and more so on the second reading." Jillian admitted to her as she
let a smile come to her face.

       "So did Joyce go after Aubree?" Ashley asked her.

       "I don't know, she wants to go after her but by her nature she is a
homebody and loves her family and she loves the town where she lives. And
she knows Aubree is a wanderer. She never stays to long in one
place. However I feel Joyce loves her with all her heart." Jillian told
her.

       "So what happens?" Ashley asked her.

       Jillian thought for a second then she said, "I threaten to break all
your fingers if you don't write more to this story."

       Ashley laughed, "So did you like the story?"

       "I would like to say that I hated the fucking story and I hated the
way it ended which ruined the story, "Jillian said and she paused as Ashley
hung on what Jillian was going to say next.

       "However what I must say is that it's a wonderful story and the
ending makes the story." Jillian told her.

       Ashley smiled, "Well my professor told me if I turned in another
story with an ending like that, she'd flunk me."

       "You deserve to be flunked if you do this again." Jillian said with
a big smile.

       "Yea I know, so I won't do it again in her class..." Ashley said
with a smile.

       "But you may write something else with an ending like this..."
Jillian said.

       "I might..." Ashley said smiling again as she felt good about how
she had gotten to Jillian with her story.

       Jillian sat back against the headboard and Ashley didn't say
anything as she was still feeling the glow of the compliments that Jillian
had given her on her story.  However she saw Jillian's face turn serious
and she feared what was to come next.

       "Can I ask you something?" Jillian asked.

       "Sure what do you want to ask?" Ashley said biting her lower lip.

       "Did you base Joyce off of me?" Jillian asked.

       "No, I don't see you as a homebody, you want to go to the big city
and write for a big paper." Ashley said avoiding Jillian's real question.

       "No I mean how Joyce looks; she has a slim build, dirty blond hair,
dresses stylishly. It sure reminds me of someone I look at every morning in
the mirror." Jillian said to her.

       Ashley hesitated for a moment before saying almost silently, "Well
yes, I hope that you don't mind..."

       "No I don't, I take it as a compliment." Jillian said giving Ashley
a warm smile that made Ashley's stomach flutter.

       "Okay," Ashley said almost silently not knowing what else to say.

       "You know, I also noticed that Aubree always wears her hair in a
pony tail and you describe very nicely Aubree's attraction to Joyce, were
you saying something to me there?" Jillian asked in a soft calming voice
that got to Ashley and she felt her stomach flutter more and got her heart
to start pounding. This was why she didn't want Jillian to read the

       Ashley knew what Jillian was going to do and she felt her heart
pounding as Jillian leaned in toward her. She put her hands on Jillian's
