Subject: My Wife the Hermophodite Ch.  3

        I told you I would continue on the birth of my son well this is a
little sooner so just bear with me.  Janet is about 8 1/2 mos. along with
our second child and I am coming home from Detroit and I have been on the
road for about 10 days and I just parked the tractor in the yard and have
fired up the Mustang and I know not the greatest family car but I love it
and I keep it in good condition and besides my wife has the Toyota 4 Runner
and Janet says when she rides in it it reminds her of when we were dating.
The drive takes about 20 mins. and I pull into the driveway of our house
and there are two other vehicles there one is Janet's parents and I see the
Crown Victoria of my parents.  Both of them say they are here to help my
wife which part of it I am sure is true but mostly I think so they can dote
on their grand-daughter.  I come into the house and for 10 mins.  I hug
everybody hi and than I take off my coat and cap and go in and see Janet.
          I said," Hi sweetheart how are things going?"
      She smiles and says," I can't believe both set of our parents have
been so much help but boy do they argue over who is going to entertain
Lizzy."
         Lizzy is short for Elizabeth but we call her Lizzy and she is a
doll.
           I laughed and said," I thought Lizzy was their biggest motive
for coming but hey can you blame them."
          My mom said," I thought you weren't taking those long haul trips
anymore."
          I said," Mom this was an emergency trip the airport at Detroit
need those engines pronto the one airline wouldn't pass inspection with the
engines that it had on the plane and there were no other drivers available
I haven't driven outside of the state of Washington for about 6 mos. and I
don't think I will be taking anymore trips outside of the state again at
least until our son is born,
       I saw my dad and he asked," So how are you and Janet doing son?"
        I said," Well we have our ups and downs but she is still the best
lady I can have."
        Dad said," Great answer and I can see you and Janet are happy and
besides you are giving us some great grandkids.  You have a nice house in a
nice neighborhood you look like you are doing well."
        I said," Dad the best part none of those cars are new and they are
paid off."
       Any we were all laughing and talking and mom and dad said they had a
hotel room don't worry about them since Janet's parents came here first.
We ate dinner and laughed at Lizzie's stories than the two moms shooed
Janet and us men out of the kitchen so they could clean.
      Both dad's agreed that Janet and I were doing quiet well.
      Dad looked at me and said," Your mom is concerned that you still have
your Mustang."
       I said," Dad you and I both restored that car it is my pride and joy
and that was the car Janet and I dated in so it does have alot of
sentimental value and I drive my pickup which is 4 wheel drive by the way
during the winter and it also has a nice extended cab ."  He said," I will
tell her which I already do to quit worrying."
        Frank Janet's dad laughed and said," Mom quit worrying about her
kids that will never happen my wife doesn't quit worrying about Janet even
though she couldn't have asked for a better and father for our
grand-daughter and future grandson."
         Now I was blushing but I am glad that Janet's parents think so
highly of me.
        Well the two moms came out of the kitchen telling us the kitchen is
cleaned .
       Janet looked at me and said," So sweetheart what do you think now?"
        I said," If you would have told me 10 yrs. ago that I would be
married to a beautiful lady giving me a beautiful daughter and having a son
on the way I would have told you you are crazy.  I was loving the single
life at least I thought I did.  But with Janet, Lizzy and our son that is
coming well I can't dream of being without them.
         Well the phone rang my mom answered and then mom came in with our
cordless phone and said John this call is for you.
          I took the call I heard it was my boss.
         I said," Hello Tim did I forget something there at work?"
         He laughed and said," No, John I almost forgot and I decided to to
tell you before Monday.  You have just been promoted which means you will
take occasional trips in the state but not often.  The last supervisor of
transportation has just retired and that is why you have been training for
the spot.  For the most part you will be handling the dispatches and
organizing runs.  You will be making about $30 an hour and you will be
working some overtime but you will be home for most nights to be with the
family.  Now I can give this promotion to somebody else but you have been
doing a sensational job here."
           I said," I am thrilled and I won't let you down Tim I promise."
          My dad said," Ok that call has got us intrigued, what is going on
son?"
          I said," I don't know a better way to put this.  I have just been
promoted to supervisor of transportation.  Tim my boss said the last
supervisor has just retired and he promoted me.  I will be responsible for
dispatches that come into the office and organizing runs and I will take an
occasional run within the state.  I will work some overtime but for the
most part I will be home with my family in the evenings and will be making
$30 an hour."
        Janet gasped and than everybody ran over and gave me a hug and than
Janet smothered me with kisses.
           I laughed and said," Whoa maybe I should get promoted everyday."
           Dad laughed and said," So does that mean you will be wearing a
suit and tie?"
            I laughed," I don't think so.  I just never expected this to be
honest but it will sure make it a little easier for us."
         It was Frank Janet's dad who said," Son I expected this from you
you are a hard worker and don't you have a good driving record?"
        I said," Yeah last year I had my 500,000 mile accident and
violation free patch."
         Janet's mom said," Wow after the short amount of time of driving
for Boeing you are good.  Well if we move we know who to call to drive the
truck."
          I started to blush.
         We were all talking and laughing and than mom said," Well it is
getting late guys and I know Janet would like to go to bed.  John,Janet
your father and I are going to our hotel and Janet has the number at our
hotel so if anything happens you guys can call us."
        We all said goodnight and as we went to change for bed I checked
the bag that we had ready for Janet's trip to the hospital.  We all went to
bed and I kissed my angel good night.
                   The Time is Now
           Janet woke up about 2 a.m. and I woke when I felt her stir.
           I asked," Is there anything wrong sweetheart?"
           She lifted her covers and we saw the wet spot in the bed.
           She smiled and said," I think it is time now."
            I sprung out of bed like a flash I put on my jeans, shirt,
boots, and cap and I went into the extra room and said," Janet's water
broke and it is time to head to the hospital."
             They shot out of their beds in a hurry and I went to the
cordless phone and I called mom and dad and they said they will meet us at
the hospital and I gave them directions and got off the phone.
             Janet was dressed and holding her bag just beaming.
              I took her bag and guided her to the 4 Runner and opened the
door for her and helped her in and closed the door and than I ran to the
other side got in and put my belt on and than started it up. I backed out
of the driveway and took off for the hospital.
            We got to the hospital 10 mins. later went thru the emergency
room door and they gave us the wheelchair Janet sat down and the nurse
whisked her to the maternity ward.
           I sat down and filled out the paper work gave it to the
receptionist and than after that I found Janet's room and went in.  She was
in pain by now she was in labor but she was still smiling..
          She said," Looks like we are going to have a son shortly."
           I said," Yes and let me fix those pillows for you sweetheart."
I fixed them and we waited for her ob/gyn.
           He came in and said," Ah Janet, I hope you are as comfortable as
you can be at the moment.  Oh my I almost forgot my glasses let me put them
on.
            So Janet how far along are the contractions?"
           She said," Oh about 7 mins Dr. Jarret."
            He said," As you know by now that the contractions will closer
and closer togather and than that little son of yours will be working his
way out.  I will be coming in about 30 mins.  I have another patient to
check on now if things start happening quicker than that don't be afraid to
buzz me the nurse will hear it and get me ok."
          Janet said," Don't worry Dr.  I will be fine."
           Than he left and Janet and I were left talking among ourselves
than both of our parents poked their heads in the door..
             We said," Come on in she is checked in and her contractions
are about 7 mins. apart so it will be a little bit before things get
started."
             Mom asked," So Janet are you comfortable enough for this
situation?"
             Janet laughed," Yes I am and your son is so good this our
second time around and he was still close to panicking."
              Mom laughed," Well that is how men are Janet as you know we
have 2 other children and Ross just about left me standing in the driveway
when our youngest was born."
             Janet laughed and said," He didn't did he?"
              Mom said," Yes he did and if I hadn't said anything before he
started the car he would have gone to the hospital without me."
             Now it was my dad's time to blush.
              Mom said," But inspite of that he has been a fantastic
husband and father and we have just celebrated our 35th anniversary."
               We were talking and I noticed Janet's contractions were
getting closer and closer and now they were 1 1/2 mins.  apart and here
came Dr. Jarret.
               Janet told him that the contractions are 1 min 30 seconds
apart.
              He said," Hmmm that means that son of yours could be coming
out anytime and how strong are they?"
               Janet told him how strong they were.
              He smiled and said," My other patient's contractions are
still sporadic and about 20 mins. apart so she will be here for awhile.  So
I can focus all my attention on you, now that can be a good thing or a bad
thing sometimes when I focus all my attention on my wife she sometimes wish
an emergency call would come through."
             We all laughed at his statement.
              Next thing we knew the contractions were coming closer and
closer and beads of sweat were rolling down her face and I was wiping her
forehead with a cool cloth.
              He ushered out our parents out of the room and than went down
between her legs and said the canal was opened about 8 centimeters i didn't
know what it meant but he said things are progressing well and quickly.
              I was coaching Janet on her breathing and Dr. Jarret said the
opening is getting bigger.  We were going through this for about 30
mins. and my wife was now crying and breathing and than all of a sudden Dr.
Jarret said I see his head keep pushing Janet.
         She pushed and she pushed and the next thing Dr. Jarret said,"
John how would you like to cut your son's amilical cord?"
          I went over and Dr. Jarret guided my hand and the scissors like
instrument and than he said snip and I snipped the cord.  Dr. Jarret handed
our son to the nurse and she checked our son's vitals and cleaned him and
handed him over to Janet.
          She checked all of his fingers and toes and beamed from ear to
ear.
          She says," Why don't we name him after you, he has your broad
shoulders."
         Well we signed the birth certificate John Robert Simmons Jr.  and
than our parents came into the room.  And they said he is so handsome and
when we told him the name of our son they loved it.
          Well, we went home the next day and sat John in his car seat.
Lizzy fell in love with him and now we truly have a happy family.  A year
has passed by since that great day and I am driving less and basically
dealing with paperwork and solving problems with drivers on the road and
organizing routes and such.  I am home by dinner time most of the time and
amazed at how fast my children are growing.  Lizzy has had her first day in
school already and well I actually had a tear in my eye and I got to wait
til Lizzy was in class before I had to go to work and I drove her school in
my Mustang and she giggled all the way to school.  It seems that the kids
in school are more curious than anything else about Lizzy being an
androgynous girl so that put that concern to bed.  I am now now 40 yrs. old
and I found gray hairs sprouting on my head and found out I need glasses
now so I am definetly getting older and Janet keeps looking as young as
when we first married.  But that is pretty much the story of me dating and
marrying this wonderful, beautiful hermophodite lady and having children
with her.  We have already been married for 15 yrs.  and it is remarkable
how fast time flies by but they have been great years and Lizzy is now in
8th grade and John is now in 5th grade and our lives and house is always
full of love and I don't know of anything else to write except when they
both graduate and go to college and what not.  Our parents are still alive
and in their 70's and we now go visiting them and now they are both living
in Florida both set of parents.  I hope you guys reading this get as lucky
as I got whether you marry an hermophodite woman or normal woman
biologically because I can't picture living my life without her.
