When she gets engaged, she faces the challenge of how to tell her fiancι! I hope you enjoy this work of fiction. –––––––––––––––––––– A few weeks later Bill and Becky were on their way to visit Becky's family. Joanne would meet them there for wedding planning. Upon arrival Jim and Mary welcomed them. Becky's brother Bob was especially welcoming, catching Becky's attention. When they were alone, Becky said to Bill, "Bob seems to have changed – almost as if he is accepting me." "Perhaps he has," replied Bill, "but after all the grief he has caused you, are you willing to forgive him?" "I'm not one to carry a grudge," said Becky, "I already have forgiven him. If he is still a jerk, he will have to live with that." The doorbell rang, signaling Joanne's arrival. Bill and Becky welcomed her, as did Becky's family. Bob volunteered to take Joanne's coat, something uncharacteristically nice of him. "I think Bob likes Joanne," Bill whispered to Becky. "He may be in for a really big surprise then," she responded. Bob had indeed taken an interest in Joanne, and asked his mother to seat Joanne next to him at the dinner table. Throughout dinner, when the discussion was not on the wedding, Bob took over chatting with Joanne. Joanne appreciated Bob's interest and agreed to sit with Bob on the porch swing after dinner. Their conversation went well, and soon they were kissing. Bob had no idea that Joanne was a trans-woman. Joanne knew how badly he had treated Becky, but was drawn to him just the same. She knew that this was a potentially dangerous relationship, but chose to risk it. Joanne agreed to go to a movie with Bob tomorrow, and kissed before calling it a night. Joanne got ready for bed and then knocked on the door to Bill and Becky's room. "I need to talk with you," she said to Becky. Bill excused himself to the two women could talk together. "I see that you and Bob hit it off pretty well," said Becky. "Yes," agreed Joanne, "that's why I'm here." "Does he know?" asked Becky. "No, and I know he isn't very open minded," said Joanne, "and I'm afraid to tell him." "If this becomes a serious relationship you have to," said Becky, "Bill is wonderfully open minded, but I told him late and he really had a tough time with it – I came close to losing him." "You're right," agreed Joanne, "I won't let it go very long without telling him." Joanne left for bed. Becky went downstairs and found Bill having a snack. They both returned to the bedroom and snuggled while drifting off to sleep. The next day Bill and Bob got up early to milk the cows and attend to the usual farm work. Bill said, "I see you've got the hots for Joanne." Bob blushed and agreed, "she's really special." Bill wondered if Bob had any idea what he was getting into. He wasn't about to be the one to break the news, and just said, "remember, she is Becky's good friend, so be nice to her." "I've got nothing but niceness in store for her," replied Bob with a big grin. Bill and Bob returned to the house for a hearty farm breakfast. Bob and Joanne kept glancing at each other just as Bill and Becky had. After breakfast Bill and Bob left to for the farm work, gladly leaving the wedding planning to the women. They worked until lunch time. Bob showered and changed his clothes, and took Joanne into town to see a movie together. As they watched the movie they held hands and soon were kissing. Both Bob and Joanne were becoming aroused and soon Bob's hand reached up Joanne's skirt. Suddenly Joanne frozen and in panic stopped Bob. "Please," she said, "I'm not ready for that." Bob pulled back and kept to himself. Joanne's mind was racing. Should she tell him? How would he react? Would she be safe? As she considered her options, she realized that she could simply delay things by saying she wasn't comfortable moving so fast, but sooner or later she would have to tell him, or just stop seeing him. After the movie Joanne kissed Bob and apologized for the surprise. "You were moving so fast that –" she began. "I'm sorry, Joanne," cut in Bob, "I was disrespectful to you, I know that you are a classy lady and I'm the one to apologize." Joanne smiled and said, "You were just being a guy – I accept your gracious apology." On the ride back to the farm Joanne decided to tell Bob at the first safe opportunity. She didn't dare tell him while he was driving, so they just talked about other things. When they arrived at the farm, Bob shut the car off and Joanne said, "I need to tell you this Bob – I am transgendered." Seeing the surprised look on Bob's face, she panicked again and bolted out of the car, into the house. Bob just sat there for a bit, and then went and sat on the porch swing. He felt stunned. He had come to accept Becky being transgendered, but never thought he would fall for one – and he knew for sure that he had fallen for her. He just didn't know what to think. He really liked Joanne, but was feeling an aversion he didn't like. Despite growing up with Becky, had had always thought of her condition as deviant – and maybe even shameful. He knew that Joanne wasn't a boy, but she had a boy's body, and Bob was completely straight. He thought about Bill and Becky – he knew that Bill had struggled when he found out about Becky, and somehow got past that – could Bob get past his aversion? He thought about how mean he had been to Becky over the years, and wondered if his punishment was this private hell he was now experiencing. –––––––––––––––––––– To be continued ...
